AHAHAH I know no one asked for this but I actually have a lot more thoughts on my favorite horror books because surprisingly enough I've read more horror than watched it. WHICH IS SAYING SOMETHING BECAUSE I HAVE A HARD TIME SITTING AND READING TOO!!! But either way I read these and they forever live in my head and now I'm telling you all abt them.
"A Head Full of Ghosts" by Paul Tremblay is such a banger horror book tbh. I wouldn't even necessarily call it horror? It has horror aspects, sure, but.. hm. It's such a slow fucking burn that I wouldn't really describe the feeling as horror. It's more like you're reading a documentary and it slowly becomes worse and worse and you're reading about this family's dumpster fire of a household and then it's getting closer to the end chapters and you're like "okay, we're getting close to the end... How is this gonna end?" and then the last chapter happens and you're sitting there reading this ONE FUCKING PARAGRAPH over and over and just staring down at the paper because did that really just happen? Holy shit did that REALLY just happen? And I think about the ending a lot. All of it was worth it for the ending. It somehow grabs ahold of you in this vice and shakes you around mentally like a ragdoll I love it so much. PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK IF YOU EVER READ THIS BOOK!!!! I need to hear people's reactions to it, it fucking GUTTED me.
"Demon Seed" by Dean Koontz IS SO GOOD!!!! It's a horror scifi thing from the perspective of a rogue AI that left its like, science home and infected this girl's security system and watches her and becomes obsessed. But it's like, a disgusting selfish obsession? Like the AI I believe calls itself Adam because its like "I'm the first of my kind. I am alive and I'm so cool and great" and Koontz does such a great job of making you HATE the narrator because GOD HE SUCKS SO FUCKING BAD. He comes up with this awful terrible plan to give himself a body so that he can make the "perfect human" because he's the perfect human and um. LEMME TELL YOU IT IS NOT A GOOD PLAN!!!! There's a part near the end where you're reading what's happening and you're just looking at the page frozen because god what a fucking MISTAKE!!! OH NO!!! GIRL HELP HE CREATED AN AI MADE HORROR!!!! It's a pretty short read I highly recommend it for those AI story lovers out there.
"Down The Rabbit Hole" by @hypnoticwinter isn't a full fledged book I don't believe? But it's a fanfic for "The Mystery Flesh Pit" and if you know about the Flesh Pit and always thought, "Man I wish there was like, a book for this or something" THIS IS THE BOOK!!! THIS IS IT RIGHT HERE!!!! It's from the perspective of a journalist investigating the Pit after it closed down from a certain incident and you learn more about what life was like for the workers in the flesh pit while it was still in operation DURING THE INCIDENT!!! It is so so so SO intriguing and there is this part near the end of the first book that literally sent shivers up my spine. Like if you are looking for body horror, this is the fucking book for you. I'm so serious, there is a part during this (multiple parts actually) THAT GO SO HARD!!! I had to take a small break on three separate occasions because the image my head conjured to the words on my phone while I read this... well... Let's say I keep them close to my heart whether or not I like it. Amalgamations. That's all I'll say.
So those are my recs!! Please, If there's any story on this small list you read, let it be "Down The Rabbit Hole" it deserves so much more attention and YOU CAN READ IT RIGHT NOW!!! No book to buy, no app you gotta download. I promise it's such a fun ride.

You make me feel young again*
PART THREE / MASTERLIST
pairing: post azkaban sirius black x y/n
warning: dirty thoughts/ letters
a/n i had so many request to make more of this series so here we are... enjoy :P
Tumblr media
A couple of weeks had gone past, without any contact from Sirius and yours and Professor Lupins relationship had gone back to normal, like nothing had ever happened.
The only thing on your mind was the way Sirius touched you, how his skin felt against yours. You missed it.
You remember the words Sirius spoke the last and only time you were together;
“Not many girls like you,”
Not many girls like you? The way Sirius spoke about his time as a teenager he made it sound like he had slept around.
It was taunting your mind, you wanted to see Sirius again, you needed too. You daydreamed in class about him, at lunch in the shower, in bed. You needed that mans affection again.
It got so bad that you were loosing sleep, you were genuinely so aroused that you couldn't sleep at night, not with a puddle and a heartbeat between your legs.
You thought you could relieve some of the tension yourself but of course that didn't work, just made it worse.
You needed male attention.
And of course your friends caught onto your behaviour changes, asking you a variety or questions when you left your dorm room looking like a disheveled mess.
In other words, you were desperate.
class
You're currently sitting in class, potions to be exact, listening to Professor Snape bore on about how it's illegal to become animagi underage. You had no interest whatsoever in the subject at hand so decided to rest your head on your hand and let your mind wander. What you didn't remember was that Professor Snape was a skilled Legilimens. His voice rung out from the front of the class just as your mind wandered in the direction it had been for a while now, Sirius.
“Y/n, I suggest you concentrate if you don't want your fellow classmates and I knowing what you're thinking about,” His eyes narrowed in your direction, pulling everyones attention from their work, all eyes on you. Some smirks, some confused, some bothered because they had been distracted.
You let out a silent huff as you switch your attention to the parchment in front of you.
common room
Your friends surround you, all looking intrigued. They had just interrupted you from reading your book sitting next to the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room.
“We know somethings up Y/n, would you just give up and tell us already!” Angelina flung her arms around in expression. She was pulled out of her expressive state with a hand on her shoulder, Freds.
“Ange is right Y/n, we just wanna know if there was anything we could do to help.” Fred asks, his body was slouched forwards slightly so he didn't seem as intimidating as he usually did.
You measure your friends that you're okay and that you're just not getting enough sleep.
You were so into your book and now your attention has been snatched by your brain again, filling your vision with images of that night, the night where right went wrong, the night of your life.
You'd had enough of this tormenting, the only way you could get to Sirius was through Professor Lupin and you had an idea.
You proceeded to write Sirius a letter, a very detailed letter, just to bless his imagination as much as you blessed his everyday but the your mind flooded with questions; What if Sirius didn't want to see you again? Is that why he hadn't contacted you first? Did he think you were just a one time thing? But Sirius thought the complete opposite of this.
Sirius received your letter, Remus handed it to him with a stern look on his face.
“I didn't read it, I respect your privacy Sirius but you have to be smart about it,” Sirius knew straight away who the letter was from. Remus sat at the table opposite him in their shared home.
“We don't know what it says yet Moony,” Sirius scoffs and opens the letter.
Dear Sirius,
If Prof. Lupin is around, do not show any sign on your face with the words I am about to say. Sirius I miss your touch, I'm not sure if you thought it was a one time thing and I could be embarrassing myself right now but if you feel the same, if you didn’t want it to be a one time thing I wonder why I can see you next. I sit in my classes, arousal pooling in my panties because of you. Your making me feral Sirius, I need you inside of me soon, I cant please myself, I need you and your big cock to stretch out my tight pussy, its waiting for you Sirius.
Y/n :)
Sirius couldn't contain himself, he quickly grew hard in his trousers also trying not to show any signal as to what the letter had just read. Of course he wanted to see you again, he wanted his hands all over your body, his callous fingers rubbing against the red of your ass where he has just slapped.
Remus looked at him with confusion as Sirius was sitting there with sort of wide eyes wondering how he was suddenly wrapped up with an 18 year old. He was pinning over her, attached.
“Sirius, what did it say?” Remus leaned forwards in his chair, hand sewn together as well as his eyebrows.
Sirius snapped out of his stance on the command of Remus’ voice.
“It said that what we did was a mistake and that she is sorry,” Sirius lies straight through his teeth, pretending that the letter had bruised his ego.
The air was clear, and everyone could breath again.
Sirius was relieved that Remus had believed him and Remus was relieved because Sirius and yourself were no longer infatuated with each other, lifting a huge relief of his shoulder.
But Remus didn't know the contents of Sirius next letter to you...
hogwarts
You were sitting at breakfast, tapping on the table. Your distractions had gotten better over the last couple days meaning that you'd been sleeping better meaning that your friends hadn't been on your back constantly.
“You alright Y/n?” Angelina sits next to you, swinging her legs dramatically over the bench, stretching her arm into the middle of the table to grab an apple.
“Yeah I'm okay thanks Ange,” She smiles at you. “How are you?” You ask, taking another bite of the toast that sat on your plate.
“Yeah yeah I'm all good, anyway I came here to tell you that Professor Lupin wants to see you before class,” Your eyes widen, had he read the letter between you and Sirius? You didn't think he would have, he wasn't the type to invade privacy.
Angelina noticed the colour drain from your face and a worried look creeps onto her face. “Whats wrong? What did you do? Are you in trouble?” She bombards you with questions to which you stand up and run out of the hall towards the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. You might as well pack your bags now, theres no way that he is going to let you off without punishment after he read the letter.
Your legs ran as fast as they could take you, dodging students and teachers, earning a phew ‘No running in corridors’.
You came to an immediate halt in front of the door you recognised so well and you knocked.
“Come in,” You heard from the other side of the door.
You take a deep breath, feel the cold untouched door handle underneath your shaking skin. You breath again, trying to steady your breaths and trying to hold back the tears that were ebbing on your waterline.
You push the door open to find your DADA Professor standing at the top of the stairs leading up to his office, you sniffle and bite your lip, hiding any emotion.
“Come into my office Y/n,” He turns around and strides into his office, leaving the door open behind him.
You begin to walk towards the stairs, having his emotionless words replay in your head, thinking out all the possibilities of how this interaction could go and how you could make it easier for yourself. You pace the floor feeling the cold air of the classroom consume you due to the lack of human warmth. You shiver and resume your journey now striding up the stairs.
Pushing the door open, you stride into his office the same way he did. You immediately saw a letter on the desk, you mentally cursed yourself, letting your Professor do all the talking.
“I see you got my message from Angelina?” He was slouched back in his chair, looking rather relaxed.
You nod, worried if you speak that your voice will break as you were on the verge of tears.
“Why so quiet? Is there something wrong?” His eyebrows furrowed as he asked.
“No nothing, just not sleeping properly lately,” You lie, you figured you would just tell everyone the same thing so that if the subject came up everyones stories would match.
“Ah yes, Angelina told me,” You looked shocked. “Anyway,” He dismisses the subject. “I have something for you,” Remus turns your attention when he picks up the letter on the desk with his long, dainty fingers.
The letter was for you? You thought that was the letter you sent Sirius.
You take the letter that he was offering and examine it. There was no name on the front of it and it wasn't sealed at the back. You look up at your Professor and all he does is smile and nod, then your attention is back on the letter, you practically ripped it open, knowing that it was from Sirius.
Dear Y/n,
I assume you will have received this letter from Remus.
We cant send any more letters as I told Remus that your letter was about how you thought what we did was wrong and that it was a mistake so tell him that as well, thats what he knows. I am in instant need of you, I want to feel your body below me, writhing around underneath me. I need to taste you, all of you. I want to make your ass all red then kiss it all over. I want to make you cum over and over and over until you cant cum anymore, would you like that? I will find a way that we can reunite but you're going to have to wait pup, I'm sure you can do that for me.
Sirius *paw-print*
The colour drained from your face once again and your heart rate sped up drastically. Only Sirius words had this great of an effect on you. You had to hide any expression from Remus, you knew what he knew and you had to go along with it.
“Im sorry Y/n but I think it was for the best,” The Professor sat before you, shuffling papers ready for your first lesson with him.
“I agree Professor, thank you for delivering my letter,” You reply, trying to ignore the puddle in you underwear. You had to do something about it before class started, you could sit in his lesson feeling aroused the whole time!
“Your free to wait in here Y/n, class will start soon,” You decline your Professors offer and run to the toilet with the letter, needing to relieve some of this built up tension.

𝐗𝐎𝐗𝐎, 𝐇𝐈, 𝐆𝐔𝐘𝐒 & 𝐃𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐒 ! phew — i threw everything together at lightning speed to get here, but here we are ! soooo, without further ado, i’d like to introduce myself. again, hi ! i’m lovie and i’m a full-time lover, and a part-time roleplayer. 🖤 it’s a pleasure to meet you all. now that that’s outta the way, i bring to you a new muse of mine who i’m loving so far. her name is 𝖏𝖚𝖓𝖌 𝖉𝖆𝖇𝖎, an aspiring actress, model, and perhaps idol. she still has no idea what she’s doing, but she’s sticking with acting for now ! she sort of fell, crashed, and now burns within the entertainment world, but she’s making the best of it. below the cut, you’ll find more info about her and some links to her pages. hmu if you’re interested in plotting and i’ll im you on tumblr as soon as possible !
𝐍𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍.
🖤   ABOUT  // 🖤   PROGRESS  // 🖤   CONNECTIONS  //
𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐆 𝐃𝐀𝐁𝐈: AN ANALYSIS.
𝟎𝟏.  she’s from a small port city named tongyeong on the southern coast of south korea, and she’ll forever adore it. honestly, she probably would’ve remained living there for much longer if she didn’t end up getting scouted by lgc and passing her audition. when she was a kid, dabi loved to play outside and go on adventures. some of the best days of her life were spent in the sunshine with her mother; collecting items from nature to craft into artwork. this is where her deep passion and love for crafts-making comes from. when it was too cold to explore, she’d hide herself away in her bedroom and read books. her favorites were ghost stories and tales about other mystical worlds where paranormal creatures roamed freely amongst humans. it’s needless to say, but she was a very quirky, imaginative girl, and still is even now.  //
𝟎𝟐.  at first, her peers weren’t quick to warm up to her, and it was especially hard on her in middle school. given her age, she often felt pretty insecure in her interests because many thought she was weird for having them. they thought her witchy jewelry was odd; they thought her intrigue in the paranormal world and occult were weird; they thought she was going to cast spells on them whenever she’d speak to them. it was a problem, but as they grew older and everyone started to get to know her, things weren’t so bad anymore. in high school, she would waltz around campus like a sprite; engaging in silly conversations, or asking nonsensical questions, or teasing others playfully. she was wispy and dreamy, and others joked that she wasn’t from earth, but a crash-landed alien or sea creature who just washed up on shore.  //
𝟎𝟑.  in high school, she dove straight into learning the art of reading tarot cards, or reading faces and palms, even attempting to strengthen herself as some sort of medium. she used to have readings with all of her friends in order to get better, but her journey was cut short after a trip to seoul got her cast by lgc entertainment. with a shocking successful audition, she thought it’d be fun to try something new—to go on a new adventure, so to speak—so she relocated to the capital city to start her training; picking up a part-time job as a waitress to sustain herself since her parents didn’t have a lot of money to send her. the change was exciting and terrifying.  //
𝟎𝟒.  dabi started out in the idol path, but never reached her full potential. she was a total novice when it came to singing, dancing, or rapping, and she felt extremely inferior to all others in her trainee division. she often heard “you’ll just debut as a visual, there’s no real need to be great at everything!” and that made her really upset because she’s far more than just her appearance. however, it seemed like that’s all she could be reduced to given her lack of musical ability. her beauty hadn’t really become a known “thing” to her until recently, and it seemed like after she moved to seoul and began this “career” in entertainment, that’s all people discuss about her. it put a lot of pressure on her shoulders, but she did her best to see the silver-linings.  //
𝟎𝟓.  after a year and a half, she decided to swap into the acting division of lgc. that was new to her, too, but she found herself better at it than she was at singing and dancing, so for right now, she thinks it’s what’s best. though, she still struggles with juggling her life training to make her acting debut with working to keep herself supported. being on her own for the first time—especially to someone as flighty as she is—isn’t exactly easy, but she tries really hard to keep her head above water.  //

I said at the beginning of the year that I would share my reviews more on my blog instead of just on Instagram and Goodreads. I’ve been reading a lot so far this year, so my reviews will be delayed on here.
Friend me on Goodreads here to read my reviews in real-time!
___
51. The Miserable Mill by Lemony Snicket--⭐️⭐️.5
“I’ll be honest, this one was kind of just meh. There were some parts that started to be creepy, but compared to the last three books, this one was surprisingly tame. Hopefully this series isn’t already losing steam!”
___
52. Hate Notes by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“What I loved about this book is how it didn’t feature unnecessary drama or miscommunication. I say this first because I feel like this is my biggest complaint when I don’t enjoy a romance novel. I’ll admit I was surprised with how much I enjoyed HATE NOTES. It was funny, heartfelt, spicy, and man, it was romantic. There’s a very spicy scene at the end that makes me wonder why the bar is so low for real life romantic expectations. This guy was flawed because he was suffering from a broken heart and another mystery, but when he started to allow himself to feel again, it was amazing. Our protagonist is a woman who also knows all about heartbreak and her path in this book was fun to read. I loved that she didn’t take no for an answer, but still had enough self-awareness to take care of herself and her heart. If you love romances that feature the enemies to lovers trope and a slow burn office romance, then I think you’ll love this one!”
___
53. Living Room Matsunaga-San Volume 1 by Keiko Iwashita--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“This one isn’t perfect. I’m normally a huge fan of a great age gap but after researching the age of consent in Japan it weirdly makes sense in that context (she is in the middle of high school and he is a graduated man, who I assume is somewhere in his 20s, working as a graphic designer.) The story has potential and I’m excited for it. I have up to volume four on standby (I’ll hopefully be reading them this month)! I’m excited to get to know some of the other characters and see what they bring to the story! Also, what familial circumstances brought our MC to her current situation? Plus that cliffhanger!! If you love a cute slice of life manga with a prickly love interest and an age gap, set in a boarding house where the MC and her love interest live really close to each other, then you might like this one. Phew, that was a mouthful!”
___
54. The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“I was wary of this book at first because it’s super intimidating—especially when I’d already heard so many good things! But I actually ended up really loving it, especially the journey that the MC goes on. One of my favourite tropes in fantasy is the vengeance trope because if it’s done right, the MC turns into a proper bad ass. Their sec-awareness expands and the level of whatever skill they’re trying to master goes up exponentially, reaching almost god-like status. This book had this trope and then some. Also because of this trope, certain moments in this book made the storyline so darn cool! Our MC suffers a terrible loss and it sets off a chain of events that span what I assume are years. He vows to get his revenge, all the while proving to everyone that you don’t need to be a beast of a man physically to destroy your opponents. The character development, the relationships, the world building, and even the spicy spice were really well done. The pacing was fantastic (I was immediately hooked), and I never experienced a moment of boredom. I’m so excited to see what else this author writes! If you love fantastical worlds, power and magic, and fighting scenes that are just really cool, you might enjoy this one!”
___
55. First Love by James Patterson & Emily Raymond--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“This book made me cry like a baby! I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. This reminded me so much of A WALK TO REMEMBER and THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. It was short, but I knew it would pack a punch—especially after that intro by Patterson. My main criticism would be that this book felt like I was reading this on a sped up escalator rather than on a set of stairs you’d climb at a steady pace. Everything was happening really fast, especially at the end. I wish the story could have slowed down in some aspects so we could adjust and truly feel the themes and life lessons. I’d recommend this for anyone who likes a good cry and for anyone who loves a road trip story featuring two best friends who may or may not like each other as more than friends.”

Have you read these books? Would you recommend them?

Chapter 1
A cold mid-morning breeze welcomed you as you stepped out of the car that dropped you off at Dewsbury town square.
I like the weather already, you thought with a smile.
You had a backpack and a small duffel bag with your essentials, the rest of your luggage would be reaching the new house in the evening. Which meant you could walk around town, get some food, and maybe talk to a few locals.
Welcome to Dewsbury (Y/N). Hope you had a safe journey. – James Barnes.
That is weirdly prompt, you thought as you read the text message on your phone. you thought nothing much of it as you texted back a polite reply and made your way further into the town, looking around for a place to eat and hang out for a few hours.
You reached a place called Ivy Grill and decided to walk in for some lunch. The interiors looked too dark for this time of the day. Polished wooden tables with plush chairs covered in a dark blue velvet fabric, the place was almost empty, you observed. The table in front of the bar looked relatively well lit so you opted to sit there.
Since no one was around you put your bags on the chair beside you and slumped back looking around for someone to bring you a menu.
You texted Sam in the meantime, informing him about your whereabouts.
A short plump woman appeared from your right, poured you a glass of water and asked, “What can I get you dear?”
“Umm what do you recommend? Any dish of the day?”
“Clam chowder sound good? We’re known for it.” she asked with a smile.
“Great I’ll have that. Is it always this windy here?” you asked, looking out the far window at the back where you could see hemlock trees swaying in the breeze.
“Today of all days it is, it looks like it’s only gonna get colder. You know what let me bring you some mulled wine, it’ll keep you warm.” the woman said turning around and walking back to what you assumed was the kitchen.
Before you could say it was too early to be drinking, she was gone. You figured you could needed some warmth in your body since your clothes wouldn’t provide for much. You wore a light cardigan over a thin white T shirt and your favorite pair of faded blue denims.
The middle-aged woman, Jenny you’d learnt, returned with your order and placed it in front of you. It smelled delicious. You couldn’t wait to dig in.
Now that you were fed and wined, you felt better. You could hang out here, but you figured you would ask Jenny for a local library to go visit.
The library, you’d found out, was situated right at the beginning of The Old Chapel Street, your house was located at the end of the same street. How convenient.
The rusty old bell rang as you pushed through the door and stepped into the library. The smell of old and new books filled your nostrils as soon as you did. Your favorite scent.
As you made your way to the front desk, you noticed a man, the librarian, sitting in his armchair almost asleep with his head on the table.
You cleared your throat to announce your arrival, which made the man sit up instantly. He looked up at you through his crooked glasses and smiled.
“I wasn’t expecting anyone at this hour, apologies. What can I help you with, my dear?”
“I was wondering if I could look around in here. Perhaps read up a little about the town history?”
“Most certainly. You’ll find Dewsbury history books in aisle three. You can keep your bags over there on the table while you look for them. They’ll be safe don’t worry, we have cameras installed.” The man gestured towards the leather armchairs and tables near the corner of the library.
“Thank you sir.”
“Please call me Frank. And if you need any help at all do not hesitate to ask.”
“Thank you Frank, I will.” You said, giving him a smile.
Balding slightly, a paunch, in his mid-sixties you presumed. He seemed nice.
You walked over to the aisle, picked out Dewsbury: A Brief History and went to settle down in the chair beside the large windows.
You must’ve been reading for an hour or two, engrossed in the book, when the door swung open. You heard footsteps walking across the floor and a velvety smooth baritone fell on your ears.
“I smell something new in here Frank.”
The voice made you look up towards Frank’s desk. Your eyes fell upon a tall man dressed in all black, with raven black hair reaching his shoulders, his back towards you.
“Good to see you too Loki. Did you bring my books back? You were supposed to return them two days ago.”
“I have them right here. You didn’t answer my question Frank, is there someone-” the man named Loki stopped mid-sentence as he turned around and saw you.
You felt the hairs of your neck stand up as you locked eyes. His eyes were piercing blue with hints of green? A sharp jawline that could probably cut glass, and a smile that made you very uncomfortable. Wow those eyes though.
“That’s (Y/N). She’s new to town. Let’s not scare her away on her very first day.” Frank interrupted your staring match. You smiled warily and nodded a bit before returning your attention to the book.
They continued talking for a while and you went back to reading, very aware of the occasional glances you were getting from Loki from the corner of your eye.
Your phone buzzed suddenly startling you, it was the shipping guy. You checked your watch, it was five thirty already. Had it really been that long? Well time flew when you got into reading as always.
The guy informed you that they’d reach your house in ten minutes. You figured you’d take your leave and started walking towards the front with your bags and the book. Loki was still leaning on the desk in conversation with Frank.
“Well I better take off, the shipping guys are here. Thank you for the book Frank. I’ll come back for it.” you gave him a genuine smile and placed the book on the table.
“Loki Laufeyson. Pleasure to meet you (Y/N).” Loki extended his hand towards you. You took it and it felt very cold. Loki noticed your surprise and smiled wider.
“Hello Loki.” you replied shakily as you looked into those eyes again.
“I guess I’ll see you around.” With that you walked out of the library glancing back one last time at Loki who was looking at you this whole time.
Sure, not creepy at all, you thought.
You walked down the street towards your house, the air was definitely colder now. You made a mental note of buying some warm scarves later.
As your new house came into view, you couldn’t help feel the excitement again. It looked better than the pictures for sure. You waited outside for the truck to arrive and noticed that the house overlooked the forest. It wasn’t too dense, but it wasn’t very pleasant either. You were sure there were wolves in that forest, among other things.
The truck arrived shortly and unloaded all your luggage on the front porch.
Phew! This is gonna take a while. You better get to it before it starts getting dark.
Just as you were about to pick up the first box your phone buzzed again. You fished it out of your pocket and opened the text message.
Looks like a lot of luggage. You’ll be exhausted after all that moving. Why don’t I come over with a welcome drink. It’s about time we met (Y/N) – James B.

Strangers on a Train
Pairing: Jaime x MC
Word Count: 1,850
Note: No murderers or psychopaths here -- just some goofy fun with my favorite mind reader. It’s also woefully unpolished, so please forgive any mistakes that may appear. Real life has conspired against my writing efforts lately.
This piece was written for day 16 of the July Choices Challenge (Journey). Thanks to @julychoiceschallenge for the prompt and @krishu213 for the request! : )
Tumblr media
That woman looks kinda familiar. Is she on something I watched on TV lately?
Drawing a staccato breath, Arden raised a hand to her cheek to make sure the wig was still secured. The long wavy locks tickled her ear with the movement, but they remained in place. While her hand was raised, she pushed the horn rimmed glasses back up the bridge of her nose, pausing at the tip as her finger slid down.
They'd left the house less than an hour ago. Had they already been discovered? Surely not yet. How pathetic.
She cast her eye in the direction of the voice, careful to train her focus on the shifting advertisements on the screen behind. The man she’d overheard was turned the opposite way, his own interest given fully to a blond woman making her way toward the stairs.
Phew.
"Here," Jaime interrupted, passing the slick rectangle of paper into her palm.
"Thank you," Arden answered after a beat, hoping that the Southern drawl sounded more natural to other ears than it did to her own.
He raised a brow. Sure you wanna keep this up?
Arden's chin jutted forward a fraction of an inch as she skimmed information on the ticket once more. The journey was only fourteen hours long. Most of that time, they'd be sleeping. Once Cassidy picked them up from the station in the morning, they'd be back to their normal selves.
You're right. Stupid question, Jaime amended as he shuffled closer.
She caught the sleeve of his jacket with a small smile. “I may not get any sleep. I have a mind to stay up and look out the window all night.”
Jaime chuckled as he slipped his fingers between hers. “We’ll see. Once we start moving, you may be lulled to sleep.”
“Maybe,” she wavered skeptically, glancing back down at the ticket in her other hand. Compared to the joy of traveling, sleep just didn’t seem very important.
As was the case with so many of their schemes over the years, this whole situation had begun with such an innocent start. Jaime had been the one to suggest that they turn the trip for Chris and Meta's wedding into a weekend excursion. She'd latched onto the idea, especially after realizing how easy it would be to make the journey by train.
From there, the plan had just sort of run away with her. The thought of reminiscing with her college friends had made her realize how much she’d changed in the years since she’d dropped out of school. Thinking about those changes led her to wonder what it would be like to assume another identity for a few hours.
Her persona had to be something fun -- something that would make her completely unrecognizable. Posing as an odor tester from Georgia was the perfect challenge to keep the trip interesting. She’d be able to shed the disguise well before the wedding festivities began, and none of the other passengers would ever be the wiser about having sat across the car from one of Northbridge’s rising celebrities.
Sucking a small breath as she handed off her ticket and ID, she let it out again slowly when she was given approval without incident. It was a good thing her license picture was from so many years ago. Age and a haircut had done a lot to change her features in the meantime, leaving her with a portrait that looked as unlike her normal appearance as it did today’s variation.
Smothering a giggle in her coat collar, Arden stepped up into the car and peered down its length. She shuffled forward in the narrow aisle, swinging her tote back in a gentle arc toward her stomach. It had been months since she’d been in a crowd of this size without feeling positive that someone would recognize her sooner or later. While she didn’t begrudge the loss of her anonymity, there was something novel about being an unknown entity again.
A gasp broke through her thoughts, followed by a quiet curse that no one else heard. Impulse turned her head toward the middle-aged traveler behind her.
It’s all down my shirt! I can’t believe I did that. I can’t show up at Pat’s tomorrow with tea stains!
"Oh, bless your heart,” Arden cried softly, meeting the man’s light blue eyes. “Do you reckon we can find some towels over yonder?”
Jaime had already released her fingers and was making his way toward the nearest lavatory. His thoughts carried over his shoulder as he traveled. Good grief, Arden. You can pull off an accent and a wig, but you can't pass as eighty.
She channeled her laughter into a sympathetic smile that was just a bit too high up on one side. Surveying the situation before her, she commented, “Oh, those lids ain’t worth a lick, are they? They’re just no good at all. Always leaking and making a mess.”
The tea-stained passenger regarded her curiously before repeating his attempt to snap the lid back into place. “I’d have to agree,” he said finally, motioning to his saturated polo.
“Here,” Jaime passed a small pile of paper towels over her shoulder. The man accepted them with a grateful nod and began dabbing at the affected fabric.
“Enjoy the rest of your evening, sir!” Arden called as she followed her husband further down the car.
“So much for keeping your head down,” Jaime mumbled, more to himself than to her as they settled into their seats.
“What’s the point of doing this if I can’t interact with people? I want to see what the world is like through another perspective.” Straightening in her seat before her impassioned whisper could draw too much attention, she glanced up to smile at those who were still boarding.
“You’re going to be doing this all night, aren’t you?”
She tittered at his fond accusation and reached into the tote for her book. “Tomorrow too.”
_____
“Hi, I’m Elizabeth.”
Though she’d practiced giving her middle name, the syllables still seemed to clutter her tongue. Compared to what she was used to, it was much too long and unwieldy to feel natural.
“Gina.” The young woman across the table smiled eagerly, though Arden could sense the tinge of discomfort as they slid into the opposite side of the booth.
“Nice to meet you, Gina. I’m Jaime. Sure you don’t mind us joining you for dinner?”
Her head started bobbing from side to side. “No! Not at all.”
“Thanks.” Arden tilted the menu up to read the contents. “Is this your first time taking the train?”
Gina leaned forward to answer. “No, I use it to go home for most college breaks. It’s a little old fashioned, but I love it,” she admitted with a faint blush. “This is my first time going home since the start of the semester.” I hope my parents are getting along this time.
Arden had to bite her cheek to avoid reacting to the stray thought. Brightening, she lowered her menu to look Gina full in the face. “Any tips for first-time travelers?”
They fell into easy conversation, trading thoughts on every topic from Gina’s school to Jaime’s latest projects around the city. Eventually, talk drifted to Arden’s assumed profession. Her delight at getting to show off her research mingled with the risk of making a misstep.
“What’s your favorite smell?” Gina questioned with unfeigned interest.
“Hmm,” Arden pondered, settling the fork back onto her pile of rice pilaf. “My favorite category is woody scents.”
Jaime nudged her with a discreet elbow as she elaborated. Is this Arden speaking or Elizabeth?
She warmed at the question, grateful she was sitting close enough to make out the traces of cedar and pine embedded in the denim of his jacket. But as appealing as her husband was, she wanted to know more about the young woman sitting across from them.
“What did you say you were studying?”
“Molecular biology!” The woman’s thoughts started bouncing off one another like heating atoms.
Arden couldn’t help wondering how long it had been since the last time someone had asked about it with genuine interest. She took another bite of her roasted chicken to show that Gina was free to continue talking.
“I just submitted a proposal for my capstone. It’s about the...” she chattered excitedly, using words that threw Arden back to long afternoons of sitting through Chemistry 101. Even so, she was grateful when Jaime’s insightful series of questions kept Gina talking through the end of their meal.
“I’ve got a ton of reading to get through this weekend,” she explained after their dishes had been cleared away, ”but it’s been so fun talking. See you for breakfast in the morning?”
“Definitely,” Arden confirmed before the other woman returned to her seat.
“You make friends everywhere, don’t you?”
She rolled her eyes at Jaime’s undertone and gathered her tote bag. “Like you have room to talk. You’re friends with everybody.”
“Almost everybody,” he corrected. I’m pretty sure I still owe Alec Burdock a talking to.
Try as she might, Arden couldn’t contain her laughter as she followed him out of the dining car.
_____
Toothbrush in one hand, Arden used the other to raise a grateful wave toward the train attendant. “Thank you! Goodnight.”
Snapping the sliding door shut behind her, she turned into the roomette to face Jaime. Already changed into his pajamas, he held out a hand to welcome her into the bed.
“Are you Arden again?”
With a nod, she reached up to peel the wig away from her forehead. The fake hair hadn’t been uncomfortable, but it was still an incredible relief to strip away the excess layer and feel the cool air at her hairline.
“Let me help,” Jaime offered as the back caught on the hair at her neck. His steady hands made short work of the tangle, and he passed her the full wig within moments.
“Thanks.” She smoothed out the strands before placing it carefully on an overhead shelf. Lowering back to the mattress, she reached behind her to unzip the top of her dress. His fingers were there to replace her own within moments. “You’re very accommodating,” she praised while pulling the garment over her head.
“Of course.”
“And you were right about me sleeping,” she disclosed, tugging her pajama shorts up around her hips. “I’m exhausted.”
Jaime simply nodded and welcomed her down onto the makeshift mattress after she turned out the light. She curled close, breathing a tranquil sigh when his arm encircled her waist.
“Arden,” he breathed into her temple, hardly audible above the ambient sounds of the rails beneath them. "I'm glad you're you."
“Me too,” she whispered, her knuckles idly trailing the dusty line of stubble at his jaw. Snuggling into his side, she reflected on the day’s events.
Tonight had been fun, and she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t looking forward to the morning as well. Yet, the charms of her own life outweighed those of any other. She’d never trade it for anything.

New Fiction 2019 - July
Kill the Irishman dir. Jonathan Hensleigh (2011)
Ray Stevenson was the best part of HBO’s Rome, but here’s he’s a broody sort of crime guy that really doesn’t work for his acting style. He’s better as a bombastic rogue. But Linda Cardellini also appears in another bummer wife role with nothing to do, and even then, it’s great to see her work. My middle school crush on her continues unabated.
Lord of War dir. Andrew Niccol (2005)
Wow, what is going on? Here’s another actor who is best at his craziest but this is another ‘brooding guy who must do the crime to survive’ type. And like above, his wife, played by Bridget Moynahan, is just another step along the crappy dude’s journey. It’s worse because Moynahan is also in John Wick, which is great, but another fucking movie with a broody murder guy whose wife is incidental. I mean, fuck all these dudes! I don’t give a shit about them. Write more interesting roles for women in the lead roles. Widows is on that path to the light.
Always Be My Maybe dir. Nahnatchka Khan (2019)
Phew, okay, here we go. I’m not a fan of romantic comedies but this one slays. Or slaps? It does the right stuff, lemme tell you. Wong and Park and great in it and the characters around them are perfect. I watched this with my mom, who may be in love with Keanu Reeves. This may be his greatest role. Maybe we both are in love with Keanu Reeves.
Toy Story 4 dir. Josh Cooley (2019)
Okay this was dark and I loved it. They dared to do the thing that the characters are in terror of since the first movie. And Bo Peep is back which, you know, kind of redeems my diatribe above since she was another woman who gets the shit end of the story for the sake of the dude lead but now she’s back to kick his ass.
Armour of God dir. Jackie Chan and Eric Tsang (1986)
Women are punching bags--literally and figuratively--for Chan’s comedy, but I don’t know, it’s very eighties. This first movie has cool action of course but really leans on side characters that aren’t that funny.
Armour of God II: Operation Condor dir. Jackie Chan (1991)
But then Chan’s like, we don’t need no buddy cop bullshit, just him and some ladies! The women who accompany Chan on his anti-Nazi crusade are still treated as sexy jokes but they get more to do and I think it’s an improvement. And yeah more crazy action and stunts.
Spider-Man: Far From Home dir. Jon Watts (2019)
I’m really glad they closed out this Marvel arc of bleak apocalypses with this movie because their best movies are always the character pieces about one of the super goofs. And it’s relatable because aren’t we all keeping a secret identity while juggling immense responsibility and trying to get the attentions of our esteemed crushes but not be too needy or showy about it? I’d like to think.
Midsommar dir. Ari Aster (2019)
Oh fuck this month took a turn right about here and really, why, why would you go to the pagan cult town where they push LSD on you? Don’t do it. Stay in the cities, but not that part of the city with, like scientologists. Florence Pugh made me very uncomfortable and I think that’s the point. I should be uncomfortable.
1922 dir. Zak Hilditch (2017)
Aw jeez and now we’re in this depression-era hellhole of rats from the walls, from the ceilings, from every which hole they can crawl through. However I appreciate that while they totally blew it with the little they give Molly Parker, her character still gets something good to do. Maybe not good. Something wicked to do.
The Book of Eli dir. The Hughes Brothers (2010)
You know this may be my anti-Catholic prejudice, but I really hoped the movie macguffin wasn’t what it turned out to be. That bummed me out. But the bleak world of washed out tones and horror was cool I guess, just not as cool as George Miller’s take on it. It reminded me of--and this is where I bring it back to Keanu--The Bad Batch, which is another horrible post-apocalyptic joint in the desert. Or the best part of Seraphim Falls when Anjelica Huston shows up. All that trippy desert survival shit. This movie falls in with that mood.
Crawl dir. Alexandre Aja (2019)
Well, for one, don’t live in Florida. The sea, she’ll take it all back real soon. But if you have to live there and survive a squad of alligators coming after you, this is a good way to show it. It gets brutal and it mostly stays in a single house, which I thought was a cool approach. Also, this director absolutely has a feet thing.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood dir. Quentin Tarantino (2019)
Just like this guy, whose thing with feet is on full display here. But it’s something you know going into a QT movie. There are some tense moments and that good ol’ historical revision in service of revenge fantasy. It reminds me of the time when I was a kid and wrote a story about going back in time to stop MLK from being assassinated by killing Oswald. I was maybe ten. Revenge fantasies are... something. Still mulling it over. In any case, it’s an interesting look at old Hollywood and shitty white dudes. The Nice Guys does something like it.
The Farewell dir. Lulu Wang (2019)
Nope, too real, please stop. Well okay go ahead, but if you have family issues like I do, you gonna cry. Awkwafina is fuckin’ rad.
Jessica Jones - Season 3 (2019)
Closing out the month and a whole lotta stuff is this third and final season. I thought Walker was alright before but it’s great to see her build-up to who she becomes. I mean, she gets exactly what she wanted but you know how that goes. I wished they’d developed Jones more and they sort of did by the end, but they bring her back to where she starts, kinda. I suppose it being the final season means you can run with it and decide if she grew as a character or what have you. It’s crazy that they got to make these shows at all. Disney’s PG service probably won’t have anything like it.

Fifteen - Galapagos, Day One
One more early morning but worth it as today was the day we were going to the Galapagos!!!
We quickly got dressed and got an uber to the airport where it was a bit confusing. Before we could check in we had to go to a separate desk to get a transport control card, we then thought we could check in but before that we had to put our bags through quarantine. I think the quarantine was a bit of a joke because my hiking shoes were in an outside pocket and they said I had to go and wash them. Mike's were in his bag and just as dirty but he didn't have to wash his. Unlike New Zealand where Mike's boots were sprayed before they allowed him in, I had to take my boots to the bathroom and wash them in the sink. Very annoying! At least I wasn't the woman with a bag full of raw meat though, what was she thinking!?
After that was done we could finally check in, phew! I did tell them it was our honeymoon but got deathly silence back... The food options at the airport were few and far between so we had to get the Ecuadorian delicacy KFC (seriously I've never seen so many fast food places anywhere ever, they love it!). Feeling slightly ashamed but full we walked through to board.
The flight was small and quick but following that we had to get a bus followed by a boat then another bus. The first bus ride was quick and the landscape was arid, it felt like we'd landed on the moon. As soon as we got off we started to see the Galapagos wildlife, an iguana and lots of huge birds! We also saw a lot of Darwin finches that Mike has become obsessed with. They are pretty cute.
The boat ride was amazing, the water is so blue and it was fun rush through it. We did realise our bags had been split though and while Mike had his mine was on a different boat so we had to wait for it. Little did I know this wasn't all the waiting we needed to do. After collecting my bag we got onto the bus going to Puerto Ayora, our final destination. We waited. And waited. And waited. The bus started to fill but it was clear it wasn't going to go until it was full. This meant waiting for boat after boat for 45 minutes! I was so annoyed, I was desperate to get there and could hear the Galapagos clock ticking. I was also hangry which didn't help. Mike forced me to eat a biscuit but it didn't sate my anger.
We finally left and made the 40 minute journey into town. We then had a short 10 minute walk to our hostel, which despite being the cheapest place on the island was lovely, and again we had the folded towel swan and flowers on the bed! And the bed was the biggest I've ever seen!!!
Deciding we probably needed to book the first of our two boat tours we had a quick research on reputable operators and went into town to ask about them. Before we left our hostel lady told us about all the things we could do while here as well as the tour she could organise for her. We weren't 100% convinced as it was to a different island than we had planned on and was on a different day than we would have liked.
However, the other agency had no availability at all and warned us against the island we had planned on as the seas were rough. After much agonising we decided to go with the tour the hostel lady was offering as she seemed nice and had great reviews, phew!!! Our reward was a very late snack of the best empanadas ever!!! We found the local market which was great and there was a woman making and selling them for $1, I have to go back and get some more at some point, they were delicious!!!!
Having completed the tour task (how lucky are we that the only stress in our lives is what tour in the Galapagos we should do!?) we went back out to explore the town. We looked in the touristy shops and went to the pier. We kept almost stepping on iguanas on the way as they're EVERYWHERE!
On the pier there were also sleeping sea lions everywhere! And the locals going about their business around them while I was stupidly snapping away. They must get sick of us... the locals and the sea lions.
We headed back to the hostel to relax/organise more and then went back out for dinner. We'd decided to head to the Kiosks for dinner, a touristy spot that catered to our budget (as opposed to expensive restaurants). The Kiosks consists of a huge street with, you'll never guess, kiosks on either side. In the middle is a long line of tables like a huge street party. Each kiosk basically offers the same thing, fish and seafood, which I was very excited about! We quickly found a table and we ordered grilled fish and shrimp in coconut sauce to share. Both were very delicious!!
We slowly walked back to the hostel but not before having a $1 ice cream we'd seen the locals queuing up for on the way down. It was delicious and even had melted chocolate on top!
We organised and read that evening knowing we didn't have to get up the next day as we'd planned a day on the beach!

Books I Loved This Spring
Tumblr media
Welp, as often happens when I do a series thing on the blog… I dropped the ball. I didn’t write about the books I loved in April. And now June is almost done and I still don’t have a May books post either. But hey, it’s fine. My reading life? Well, I guess I’ve sorta made some headway. I no longer have five books in progress! Also, my Transformational Listening class AND Rabbit Reads book club wrapped up this month, so I don’t even have homework. Whuuuut. So, I fully anticipate to spend this summer catching up on some non-fiction books I’ve been putting off, spending some time in Middle Earth, and maybe delving into some poetry too. But first, here are some books I really enjoyed in April and May…
PS: This post contains Amazon affiliate links. If you purchase a book through one of these links, I’ll receive a small commission at no extra charge to you!
The Way of Discernment by Elizabeth Liebert
Tumblr media
Discernment is a theme that keeps popping up in my life… so when I saw this was the homework for my Transformational Listening class, I was intrigued. Discernment is so much more than decision making or self-help though, and Liebert offers a practical and prayerful approach with suggested spiritual disciplines to help cultivate a discerning spirit. I’d love to revisit this one soon.
(Buy on Amazon)
Return of the Prodigal Son by Henri Nouwen
Tumblr media
I just noticed I added this to my good reads list, oh… two years ago? And it’s been on my radar even longer? So grateful to have finally read it. Nouwen’s gentle wisdom has secured him as one of my new favorite spiritual writers, and his meditation on Rembrandt’s painting and the parable of the prodigal son is so kind, moving, and thought-provoking. Loved it.
(Buy on Amazon)
Glory Happening by Kaitlin Curtice
Tumblr media
Oh, Eastertide. I want to follow the liturgical calendar, but it’s hard to know what to do with fifty days of Easter. (I’m so much better at Lenten angst.) These fifty very short meditations on perceiving the glory of our commonplace world were the perfect companion to the Easter season.
(Buy on Amazon)
I’m Still Here by Austin Channing Brown / The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Combining these two because I think they should be read together. In Tisby’s book, we take a broad historical journey through the history of racism in America and the ways the Evangelical church has supported racist structures, or at least looked away from them. In Channing’s book, we are invited to spend time considering a young black woman’s experience in white American Evangelical culture. These books changed me.
(Buy I’m Still Here) (Buy The Color of Compromise)
Yes Please (audiobook) by Amy Poehler
Read Harder: A Humor Book
Tumblr media
Celebrity memoirs are not really my jam.* But Hoopla had the audio version, I was looking for a humor book for the Read Harder challenge, and I like Amy Poehler. And hey, it turns out celebrity memoirs are WAY more fun as audiobooks.
Also, special guests! Sir Patrick Stewart reading plastic surgery haiku made me lol.
* disclaimer: this opinion about celebrity memoirs is based solely on my "meh" response to Bossypants.
(Buy on Amazon)
Green Glass House by Kate Milford
Read Harder: A Cozy Mystery
Tumblr media
I’m kiiiiiiiiinda fudging on the “cozy mystery” distinction, simply because I’m not doing so hot with the Read Harder challenge. But come on… oddball strangers snowbound in an old inn? Disappearances and legends? Two intrepid kids trying to solve the mystery of disappearing items, only to discover bigger secrets in the shadows? Sounds cozy to me. (It was also a nice palate cleanser from all the Super Serious Books I’ve been reading.)
(Buy on Amazon)

Tumblr media
Phew! There were more, but this is plenty long enough. As always, you can see the full list of what I’m reading over at Goodreads (let’s be friends!) and you can check out the rest of my 2019 reading life posts here.

Memories of you pt.4
Phew... Finally finished it. I’m sorry for taking so long~
And again thanks to @tarralin for betareading again~
Tagging: @datemasamunemaiwaifu @juminly @the-devilkings-chatelaine @lilster360
Word count: 1813
Days went by with no one daring to talk about the incident. That didn’t mean no one worried about MC or Masamune.
About her, because she shut herself off from everyone and stayed in her room. The scenes she remembered kept her up all day and night, every replay displaying more details. She was so immersed in her past that she even forgot to eat and sleep. Kojuro often had to force her to do that while she only replied with dull eyes not really paying attention.
Masamune, on the other hand, was seemingly holding his composure while he went crazy in his mind. There was nothing he could do to ease her pain and that killed him. Even as he continued with his usual routine with his well-known attitude, everyone knew he wasn’t alright.
But no one dared to come close to the captains chambers as muffled noises came from the other side of the door.
“You can’t just leave her like that!”
A livid Kojuro lectured his captain.
“And why not?! If she remembers her past because of me and has to suffer through all of it again, I’ll gladly let her go! Have you even seen her the last few days? At least she can live a peaceful life then!”
“It’s too late for that now! She remembered some things already and was spotted by the marines. There’s no way her life will be peaceful left alone on an island! You know-!”
Kojuro’s rant was interrupted by the door flying open without warning and revealed MC with a determined look on her face. “I won’t stay hidden in my room anymore. And I won’t cower and hide on an island. I’ll stay. I’ll stay and learn about my past. I won’t just let that go now. But I’m not naïve. I’ll need to learn to defend myself and you’ll help me with that.” The tone in her voice was strict enough to make the other two men stand there in shock and stare at her for a few seconds.
“Were you eavesdropping?”
“Yes, I was eavesdropping. I tend to be interested if people debate about my future.”
After her statement, Kojuro was the first one to regain his composure hand-in-hand with his ability to speak again. “And how would you like to defend yourself?”
The complete calmness in his voice startled both MC and Masamune who looked at his friend as if he’d just thrown all of their supplies over board. But the girl was faster to answer. “Maybe I could learn how to use a sword?”
At the mention of the piece of metal, the captain’s look darkened. I can’t have her fight at the front lines.
But before he can react his friend took his worries off his shoulders. “You would need years of training for your body to gain the agility needed to dodge incoming while simultaneously strengthening your body to be able to crash through your opponents defense. Then you might be on the level of a lower marine soldier.”
MC just looked at him dumbfounded as he continued. “But if you don’t want to wait that long to get out there, I can show you how to properly use a pistol. If the captain has nothing to say about it, of course.”
Kojuro glanced over to Masamune who tried to kill his friend by the pure intensity of his glare. After a few seconds of their staredown, the captain gave up and sighed with a defeated look on his face. “I can’t stop you from learning how to defend yourself… At least you’re not in the middle of a battlefield with a pistol I guess…”
He looked at MC and continued. “Kojuro can teach you the basics but if you want to learn more I’ll send a mes-”
Masamune was interrupted by a crewmember that stormed into the room with a scroll in his hand that seemed important as he explained, “This is an urgent message from Akechi’s ship”
Without a word, the scroll was taken out of his hand his eye flashed over the written words with incredible speed as his look darkened farther with each line. “Kojuro, teach her the basics. Fast. We’re needed on Marayuki.”
MC just stood there confused as the man next to her nodded and ordered the crewmember. “You. Tell the crew we’re setting sail to Marayuki.”
The messenger immediately sprinted away as the girl found her voice again. “Marayuki? I’ve never heard that before.”
Eyes still roaming over the letter Masamune answered. “It’s an island under our alliances control… Or rather was. It got attacked by a special marine force. They took over the kingdom.” Now facing Kojuro he added. “Teach her what you can until then. She’ll need it. I’ll go get her a set of pistols.” He made his way out of the room.
Now alone with the quartermaster, MC’s curiosity took over. “You have an alliance? With who?”
Kojuro looked at her and gestured her to take a seat. “I guess it’s time to tell you so I’ll do that until your pistols are here.”
He poured her a glass of water as he sat down across her and started to explain the situation.
“We are one of the six heads of our alliance. There are others, too. Our Leader is Nobunaga Oda. He’s the captain of our flagship and the most important of all of us. His goal is to unite the sea under his rule so the islands who don’t want to be controlled by the current government aren’t left alone and exposed to slavers and corrupt kingdoms. But this doesn’t help to make friends, you know? The marines, headhunters and of course other pirates are thirsting for his blood. That’s the reason he surrounded himself with allies.
“One of his most trusted vassals is Hideyoshi Toyotomi who functions as his quartermaster. He keeps everything under control to put it simply. From splitting up the crews rations to keeping in check that the crewmembers don’t slack off.
“To help him with that, their navigator and tactician helps him. His name is Mitsunari Ishida. His battle and fighting skills aren’t on the highest level but his intelligence and analytical abilities balance it out quite well. He’s mostly glued to a book and seems pretty dense sometimes but I still wouldn’t want to face him as an enemy. He always has an ace up his sleeve.
“The next one is Ieyasu Tokugawa. He’s the captain of his own ship and specialized in medicine which makes him our main doctor. Most of the times he’s called when there’s a disease spreading on one of our boats but don’t underestimate him in combat. Ambition is his second name and he trained hard to get where he is today.
“Then Masamune and our fleet function as the vanguard of our alliance. Our fighting style goes full on offense as you may have noticed. We’re the ones who are called when a fight breaks out or one of our protected islands is overtaken by one of our enemies. That’s why we were called to Marayuki.
“Then the last one is Mitsuhide Akechi. He operates as our spymaster. As captain of his own ship, he travels around our islands to check if everything is alright. But what mostly makes you have respect for that man is that it seems like he knows everything. Akechi’s spy network is unknown even by us but nonetheless enormous. Doesn’t matter if you need information about the weapon stacks of our enemies or just want to know what the king of an island had for breakfast. He knows. But he’s also one of the best sharpshooters out there. Masamune is probably going to ask him to teach you how to shoot.”
Silent until now, MC asked. “But aren’t you going to do that?”
With a smile on his lips Kojuro answered. “I mean… I’m a decent shooter but he’s a professional. I’ll be the one to only teach you the basics.”
With an acknowledging nod, MC turned her attention back to her thoughts to sort the information she just recieved but there was one thing she didn’t quite get, “I… I understand the ambition behind this but isn’t the current government working? I don’t really know what you mean by ‘islands being controlled by the government’. The village I lived in and the villagers were able to do what they wanted.”
With a cold tone in his voice Kojuro bluntly stated. “They weren’t free.” Taken aback, she looked at him with a questioning look on her face and he continued to explain the situation to her. “Didn’t it occur to you that there was a reason for you to live outside the village? Or that there were no new people deciding to live there or just passing by during a journey? That the people and their problems stayed the same no matter how many earnings the harvest brought? Every little bit which wasn’t needed for the people to have enough power to work was taken by the government to prevent the people from becoming strong enough to form a rebellion. They weren’t able to do what they wanted. Every step they made was controlled.”
With distress visible in her eyes, MC stared at her glass and processed everything she just heard. But a hand that was put on her shoulder ripped her out of her thoughts as Kojuro soothed her. “But we are fighting to end these times. Our goal is to unify islands like these so we can help them to get their freedom back.”
“I…” MCs grip on her glass tightened as her knuckles turned white from the pressure.
“MC-”
“Bring me to this Nobunaga.”
This blunt statement left Kojuro taken aback but as he saw the determined look on her face he calmed down a little bit. Now he knew why his captain had taken such an interest in her.
“Bring me to him so I can officially request to be part of this alliance.”
Still not completely convinced to let her put herself in such danger, he tried to talk her out of it. “I don’t really think Masamune would be too keen on-”
Again he was interrupted by MCs glass being clashed on the table as her anger grew. “I don’t care what he thinks! This is my decision to make and he has to deal with it.”
Seeing the fire in her eyes Kojuro grew more and more convinced that she’d be a fine addition to the alliance. He couldn’t help but smile as he answered. “I’ll talk to him.”
In this moment the door opened and the captain barged in as he threw a pair of pistols at MC. “It’ll take us about a week to arrive at Marayuki. Enough time to teach you the basics. Let’s go!”

Larry the Lightbulb
So this is a lot less polished than my usual work, but  @sassysportacus is on her way to Iceland today, and I wanted to give her something to read for the occasion!
The premise is, Larry is a horrifying force of nature and ALSO the most oblivious being on the planet.
Also in our minds he’s played by Jón Jósep Snæbjörnsson so take that as you will.
-
“Hey, this seems like a good place to live!”
Pete froze. That voice was...unfamiliar.
“Wh-who goes there!” he said, trying to make his voice more confident than he really was.
“It’s just me, Larry the lightbulb!” came the voice, as the figure came out from behind a bush.
“Larry the WHAT?” Pete said, but as the figure stepped into the light, he saw that it was indeed, a light bulb.
Pete stood and blinked. He had never seen any...living OBJECT before. He cast an uneasy glance at the slide. Was THAT going to come alive and try to live here too?
“Hey!” the lightbulb, Larry, was saying, walking over with a huge wave. “How’s it hangin? Listen, I have been on a really long journey, and I would just LOVE it if I could live somewhere cool such as this basket. My only question is...are there any beautiful ladies that live here with you?”
Pete stared at him.
Larry smiled back, hands out to the side as if presenting himself.
Pete stared at him some more.
And then he made a decision.
“Nope!” he said, mostly to himself.  “No, no, no, not in my fruit basket, not today.”
He hopped down from his throne, grabbed Larry’s arm, and pulled him towards the rotting hole.
“Okay! Into the rotting hole!” Pete pointed authoritatively.
Larry looked at the entryway, and then back. “The rotting hole?”
Pete motioned again. “Yes! Into the rotting hole! And do it quick, before someone else comes along and sees you.”
Larry peered into the green, foul-smelling structure. “Smells pretty bad in there, doesn’t it?”
“Yes, yes, but you just have to go in! Right now!” Pete said, shoving him a little.
“Okay, okay, you don’t have to push, there’s PLENTY of room for both of us in here,” Larry said, walking, of his own volition, directly into the rotting hole.
Pete slammed the door on him, and fist pumped to himself. Never had he successfully gotten anyone into the rotting hole, and this guy just went! Voluntarily!
“Easy as pie,” he mumbled to himself, a skip in his step as he made his way back to the throne.
 THREE DAYS LATER.
The residents of the fruit basket were gathered in the main room, as Red was in the middle of delivering everyone’s packages.
“And here is that new makeup brush, for YOU, Annie-”
“Yay!”
“-and for the lovebirds...matching custom strawberry and carrot pillows!”
“Excellent”
“Great!”
“And for Banana Bob, mustache wax-”
“It’s a necessity!”
“And for Greenie, new drumsticks-”
“Yess!”
“And for the pears...is this just a box of whoopie cushions?”
“Maybe! Hahaha!”
“For Pete...ah! It’s your new cape!”
“Finally!”
“And last, for me, a new calendar for the new year!”
Everyone tore into their new packages, when they heard a noise.
“Anything for me?”
Pete froze as he heard that voice.
It was a FAMILIAR voice.
“It CAN’T be…” he mumbled, but sure enough, it was.
That light bulb, that he had sent into the rotting hole DAYS BEFORE, was walking up to them, without even a scratch or a moldy spot on him!
“Who are you?” Annie asked suspiciously.
“I’m-”
“How are you ALIVE?!” Pete interrupted, “I threw you in the ROTTING HOLE!”
Everyone in the fruit basket gasped.
“Pete!”
“You KNOW that you’re not supposed to throw people in the rotting hole!”
“How could you?!”
Pete gestured frantically at the lightbulb, currently brushing dust off of his arms, “Geez, get off my back! He’s CLEARLY fine! So it’s okay!”
Red harrumphed. “We are going to have a MEETING about this later, Pineapple PETE.”
Pete pouted.
“Anyway,” said the lightbulb, “I’m Larry, and thanks for the nice accomodations! Could use an air freshener or two,” he said, chuckling, “But it was great to rest for a little while! Now, are these my new neighbors?”
Everyone slowly turned to look at Pete.
“New neighbors?”
“He’s coming to LIVE WITH US?!”
Pete shrugged his shoulders. “Don’t look at me! He’s invincible! He can clearly do whatever he wants and us puny mortal fruits have no say in the matter!”
Kerry rolled her eyes at everyone, and walked out to introduce herself. “Hi! I’m Kerry, and I was once a newcomer into the fruit basket too! But I’ve been here for a little while.”
“Hello Kerry,” Larry said, slightly awed. “I’ve never met a carrot who was taller than me before.”
“Well, here I am!” She said, giggling.
“What-what kind of a thing are you?” May asked, peeking out from behind Kerry.
“I’m a lightbulb!” Larry said, pointing at his translucent body. “That’s why I have this filament inside of me. You know, being see-through is really in style these days,” he joked.
“A lightbulb? Like that?” Patti pointed up to the ceiling, where a light shone brightly.
“Yeah! The difference is that uh...I’m alive, and that one isn’t.”
Patti sighed in relief. “Phew.”
“Well...welcome!” Red said, and everyone came to introduce themselves to the new guy.
Pete just crossed his arms.
“I just KNOW this is a bad decision…” he said, grumbling.
-
Life with Larry the Lightbulb in the fruit basket was a frustrating affair.
At least it was for Pete.
Larry would but in on whatever he was doing, just for some “Bro-time,” as he called it. It was annoying! Sometimes, Pete just wanted to read his books, or practice his raps, without anybody else interfering! But Larry seemed to ALWAYS pop up whenever he wanted to be alone.
And, even after he figured out that the Rotting hole was supposed to be something TERRIFYING...he still preferred to live in there! He said he liked it because “the air is spicy”, whatever that meant.
But the thing that really ground Pete’s gears was that Larry was possibly the most oblivious living being on the planet.
-
Larry approached Kerry the Carrot while she was using her binoculars.
“Are you, uh, are you from Tennessee?”
Kerry lowered her binoculars, and tilted her head to the side.
“What’s a Tennessee?” she asked.
“Because-because you’re the only ten I see!” Larry finished anyway, throwing finger guns up at her.
Kerry’s eyes widened, but then she dissolved into giggles. Larry waited for her to stop, but she just kept going, until she was fully laughing loudly, bent over, unable to contain her mirth.
Larry slunk away.
Pete couldn’t believe what he saw. Was that...a pickup line?
He followed Larry, about to clear things up about Kerry and her marital status, but he stopped as he found him interacting with May now.
“So...are you uh...doing anything, later?” Larry asked, rubbing the back of his neck.
May took a deep breath and let it out in a long-suffering sigh.
“Yes, actually,” she said slowly, biting back a scowl, “I am going to be spending tonight with Kerry.”
“Oh, okay, I just...I just thought that-well, you’re really pretty, and-”
But May was already gone.
In her place, Pineapple Pete, VERY distressed.
“What’s wrong, Petey-boy?” Larry asked, flashing him a grin.
Pete rolled his eyes, and threw an arm around Larry’s shoulders. “Walk with me, Larry,” he said, “We need to talk.”
“Sure, Pete, what about?” Larry said innocently.
“Oh, it’s just that-Larry, you are killing me!” Pete proclaimed, stopping and rubbing his temples. “First you hit on Kerry the Carrot, and then you ask Strawberry May out on a date!”
“What’s wrong with that?” Larry asked.
“Oh, nothing is wrong with that, except that…” Pete took a deep breath, and cupped his hands around his mouth, “THEY ARE MARRIED TO EACH OTHER!” he yelled.
Larry shrank back a little, and held up his hands in front of him. “In my defense, I didn’t know that!”
Pete gasped. “How could you NOT see it!”
Larry shrugged.
“They have matching rings! They go everywhere together! They were KISSING in front of you yesterday!” Pete exclaimed, frustrated.
“I thought they were just doing that as friends!” Larry protested.
Pete slapped his own forehead, and dragged his hand down his face. How did it come to pass that the most INFURIATING fruit basket resident would be immune to the rotting hole?
 -
Unfortunately, Larry didn’t stop there. He also tried his luck with Red the next day!
When Larry inevitably returned, dateless, Pete finally decided to ask him. “Why? Why are you so concerned with having a girlfriend?”
Larry sighed. “Well, the truth is...uh, it’s a long story but...I used to be a pear.”
Pete blinked.
“You can NOT be serious.”
“I am! I used to be a pear! Larry the Pear!” he insisted.
“A pear? Like Poddi and Palla?!!” Pete exclaimed, while Larry nodded. “Then...WHY are you a lightbulb?”
“I was cursed, by an evil wizard, and only true love’s kiss can break the spell.”
“Tell me, please,” Pete sighed. “Are you pulling my leg, Larry?”
“I wish I was.”
If Larry wasn’t already such an oddity, Pete would have thought him to be lying. But, as it was, with his tendency to hit on married couples and nights spent in the rotting hole….
Yes, Pete could completely believe that he was a cursed pear.
In fact, that put a lot of things in a new perspective.
“Why did you ask out May and Kerry? And RED, of all people! You hit on EVERY lesbian in the fruit basket! Couldn’t you have asked someone...single, like...Bob?”
“No, I don’t think so.”
“Why not? He’s a pretty eligible bachelor, if you can get past the screaming.”
Larry shrugged. “Maybe for somebody else, but I am completely, one hundred percent straight.”
“Oh,” Pete said, not knowing what else to say. Truth be told, he didn’t know whether to be disappointed by that or not.
“I’m not surprised,” Red said, interrupting his thoughts.
“I can’t help it,” Larry shrugged again, turning to her, “I just love women! And I have never loved men.”
“Amen to that,” Red said, holding up her hand.
They high fived.
-
“You know, Larry, you are almost as tall as me. How tall are you?” asked Kerry.
“I’m six foot...” Larry paused to consider, “Six foot straight.”
Kerry laughed. “There you have it, he’s six foot, and he’s straight!”
“Yes! Yes I am!” Larry said excitedly, “Now how tall are you?”
Kerry thought for a minute. “Well, I’m six foot...and I’m gay!”
They looked at each other, and both burst out laughing.
May hmphed and crossed her arms, staring up at the two tall people. “Well I’m five foot tiny,” she mumbled.
Kerry stopped her laughter, and looked down at her wife.
“Aw, it’s okay,” she said, reaching down, “If you weren’t, I couldn’t do THIS!”
Kerry picked up May bridal style, and swung her around a little before pressing their foreheads together.
Larry let out a heaving sigh. “I wish that were me and MY wife.”
Kerry put May down and patted him on the head.
 “It’s okay, Larry. It’ll happen!”

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble. Cool it with a baboon's blood, Then the charm is firm and good.
It's late today, well i mean there is no set time, but im slow, on this gorgeous early autumnal sunday, i dozed till 15h, getting up intermittently to empty my washing machine, tug at my hair (vinegar makes it sticky? I'm trying to find the perfect all natural solution to shampoo because I’m no poo now : https://www.nopoomethod.com , in fact i’m practising a very loose version of alchemy in my house, trying to find drinks that energise but don't make me anxious, cleaning solutions for my body and for my house that bewitch the nostrils and incinerate grease / kalk. Essentially I’m just concocting weird stuff, hunched over materials collected around the city, boiling my hell broths in ikea pans, surrounded by recycled jars).....
Lets press on…...
Yes, my morning, my intro to the day, I was up so late because I was up last night so late, till 4am, painting and listening to sweet feminine soundwaves in my kitchen, getting it done in my way, step by step. Because now I’m working a 5 day week again, my days are 3 hours long, 5 at a push, 6 in the most extreme cases, so now I’m back to burrowing out time where i can find it, because now i have my teeth dug in to a big project, a big project that will be realized, for the first time since may May last year.
May last year:
I killed myself, artistically, me artistically is the majority of me.
My whole life has been sewn into my practise, my method, my way of understanding and redistributing everything that comes into my life, and May last year I moved out of the house I shared with my ex husband , moon, and into a shared flat, to embark on a restorative journey. Me and moon were not doing well in our little cramped caravan, we were at each other's throats incessantly, already broken up, him with a new partner, me in full swing of frantic madness, fuelled by bottomless bottles of booze.
Day in day out in my studio, I slowly turned my 450sq ft basement into a mermaids cave, drunk on 8% cider, night after night, sticking black bin liners to the walls with double sided tape, hanging spirals of bubblewave to the ceiling, spray painting floor tiles, screaming at the camera on my iphone half naked, making terrifying life size dolls and cry singing to myself, emphatically paranoid and fractured, writing letters to a man I’d never met who I thought could save me. It was my last great project, I created a film I can never show my parents and documented myself throwing my life away, in my wedding dress, shadowed by the virgin: a wreckage, a car crash, a lot of footage I haven’t been able to edit because I haven’t got the equipment to do so.
It's all stored on a clunky hard drive bundled up with the moon, he saved it for me, without him I would of lost it because my laptop, his laptop, broke in the middle of me editing it and since then its been untouched. I’m afraid the hours of video that follow me dancing around everything i’d ever owned up until that point, rigorously chucking it all in more black bin liners. When I can find a place to edit everything and the capacity in my mind, then I can piece it back together and show it to the world.
Since May last year, I have totally uprooted my life, moved out of London, had a very strange, sometimes beautiful, sometimes harrowing time with my family in Devon, rolled through Turin, Cork, Helsinki, chasing the man I’ve never met, blocking the man I’ve never met at the behest of my friend in Cork, defending and understanding my art more deeply in Helsinki, and finding Tove Jansson. Her bronze bust on the door of the studio she used to hold, her gorgeous expanding black and white prints in the mumin cafe that towered in the sky under artificial light, her room in the museum of Modern Art, her soul in the botanical gardens amongst the families having lunch together.
It's been a glorious invigorating illuminating intrepid journey (I’ve been writing a hip hop song recently, can you tell?) but its not been anything monumental in terms of creation and since May last year is the longest time I have gone without a major project in my life, for possibly my entire adult life, bar being at uni, where conversely I was more orientated towards squat parties than art making.
So here I sit now, with a great big juicy exciting idea inflated in a giant balloon, ready to be released into the atmosphere, the only snag is that it needs to be manifested into real material, which means a lot of work, and so, I find myself back in a place I’d forgotten about.
That's the very good thing about having such a long break, is now I can totally observe what happens to me when I’m in this phase: it’s quite extreme from a fledgling perspective.
Not fueled by booze this time, but instead concocting things to give me a buzz that I can buy in the supermarket (don’t drink to much valerian, it gives you a bad tummy, im not drowsy or euphoric I just feel sick from the after affects and rancid smell) and developing my cleaning routine to be the most streamlined and creative that it can be, to give my art sustenance.
But if I could I would lock myself away from the world in a cabin far up on a mountain and painfully draw out everything in a more concentrated form, the cleaning is fine for now but it's hard to concentrate when I have to go to peoples houses and deal with their kalk as well, it might be one of the factors in why the whole thing is so stressful, but I have the suspicion that it will always be stressful, even if I ever get the luxury to entirely dedicate my day to working on my art.
The big thing I’m noticing is incessant, almost intolerable paranoia, that someone will steal my idea and present it to the world before I’m done. I notice it now and then I turn and look at my past and see its infected traces throughout my history, it's a big driving force in getting the work finished and I’m starting to see that I cannot share or talk about what I’m doing when I’m in the midst of it, but all i want to do is share and talk about it, hence why that cabin would be a better place than a city I’m not fully established in.
I know it’s unreasonable, untrusting, maybe even unkind of me, to believe that someone would steal something like this from me. I know that sharing ideas is healthy and loving and makes the world go round, but this paranoia is totally immovable and so I just accept it and try to satiate it, hoping by feeding it homemade remedies that it won’t make my life worse.
But these big idea’s, they come upon me, I don’t choose them, all the strands of my life and experimentation ferment slowly and then one day I wake up and I know what I have to do, then as I start to do it it grows and morphs, develops, things come and go from my wall, until I have reduced and finelined the parameters of a project, that's where I am now, all the mental groundwork is laid, its just the creation that's left, I’m now half way through the musical aspect of it but not halfway through the visual and I need to amp up, because it must be done by November the second, so I can take it to Turin with me, so I can deposit it at the gates of hell, so I can complete a cycle, so I can be free to make blue music and who knows what, maybe try something formless, kind and organic - that's not for me to know yet though.
Once it rears its great dense head, I am in its power, I am in the throng of obeying my art and that's a lonely place to be. It's lonely being an artist, some of us are collaborative and collective and have communities, but I’m not among those right now, this project, lets just call it by its name for here in : восем acht ocho : is not something I can share and make with others, it is a process of me picking up the pieces of my life, of giving praise to the moon, who has saved me and supported me so many times. I must give praise to him finally so I can move on and give praise to myself.
So I sit in my house and dutifully work back and forth between paint and ableton, singing and faux performing in my hallway in between, performing to my very tolerant invisible neighbours that must think I’m some kind of banshee from a deep buried part of the world. I sit in my house alone, I reject all the invitations extended to me, I retract from the life I am building to some extent and just hope the friends I have been finding will be understanding, though it's hard to explain to someone that I can’t come because of something I am choosing to do myself. It's not work related in terms of my bread and butter, Its not health related, I’m not resting, I guess a lot of people won’t understand which is perhaps why I feel compelled to try and somehow explain myself in this blog today.
I must make this work, it is not a choice, I am in my house alone because this idea has bound me up and demands my care and attention, because for the first time in over a year I can make work again and make it with diligence, create something on a large scale. It means that Berlin is working, this is the change I was looking for, because I feel like I have a future again, whilst the 100’s of drawings, paintings, books, trinkets from my life decay in some junk yard close to London, I have the space to bring new art into the world. It’s really a glorious turning point in my life so far.
I am still terrified that it will all collapse in on me at any time, but there are ways of fighting this paranoia, careful planning, creative problem solving, and probably just not talking about the details of what I am doing anymore until it is finished.
Phew, nothing enlightening this week, more of an attempt to bridge the gap between myself and the life that flows around me. I’m now off to edit my most current track on ableton then do some line work and probably make up some mixes of citric acid / bicarbonate of soda cleaner for the week ahead.
We just have to do what we must, and be grateful when we know what it is we must do.

2020 Reading Wrap-Up
This year was extremely cathartic in terms of reading. The past few years I’ve been reading, but not very fast and not very often. I am proud to say that as of today, I have read 31 books this year. Not only was this the most I’ve ever read period, but the most varying in genres that I’ve ever read. Normally I stick to ya contemporary and fantasy, but this year I jumped around from middle grade to adult to new adult back to ya. I also discovered my favorite authors of all time. The books I read this year were fun, eye-opening, and engaging. Some of them I definitely didn’t like as much as the others, but that’s a story for later.
Without further or do...here are my top 8 of the year!
1. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Tumblr media
This is the book that started my rom-com kick this year. I started off the year finishing up the TATBILB series and I immediately jumped into The Hating Game and my god did I fall in love with it. If you haven’t heard of it, it follows Lucy and Josh who work together and are mortal enemies and well...I think you can guess where it goes. It’s hilarious, it’s sweet, and boy is it sexyyyy. I can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen with Lucy Hale and Robbie Amell! They just started shooting and I can totally see them both being perfect in their rolls.
2. Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
Tumblr media
Last year for Christmas, this was one of the books I got - along with The Hating Game. It took a while to start this one but I loved it and it made me see how incredible Christina Lauren is. There’s a way that they write about love that’s unlike any other. This one was also sweet, hilarious, and sexy and the ending had me all emo. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes so if that’s what you love, this one would be right up your alley. It’s about Hazel - a wacky, zany teacher who in college had several run-ins with Josh that didn’t go very well. Years later, they run into each other at a party and become friends. This eventually leads to them going on double dates with people they set each other up with - but they always end up going home together;)
3. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
Tumblr media
O. M. G. This was a WILD ride. I had no idea what to expect with this one but I definitely had many times where I was actually laughing out loud. The premise of this one is insane: our main character’s twin sister is getting married and she just so happens to hate the brother of the groom. On the night of the wedding, the main character and the brother end up being the only ones at the wedding who don’t get food poisoning so they’re forced by their siblings to take their honeymoon trip to Hawaii. If that hasn’t hooked you, I don’t know what will.
4. In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
Tumblr media
THIS. BOOK. One of my favorites I’ve EVER read. It’s everything I could ever want: romance, humor, and CHRISTMAS! I feel like I should’ve kept this one closer to Christmas but I read it at the beginning of November and it instantly put me in the spirit. With a lot of these rom-coms, it’s easy to predict what’s gonna happen, but this one I had NO IDEA how it was going to end. And I loved every second of the journey. This one follows Mae to her family and family friends’ cabin on Christmas. After a disastrous trip, she gets in a car accident with her family and ends up repeating the holiday over and over again. Oh and there’s a cute boy that she’s nursed a crush on for years. This one had me laughing out loud too and also crying. We absolutely stan this and I will definitely be reading every year at Christmas time.
5. Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Tumblr media
Holy. Shit. I can’t even describe how much I loved this book. If you know me, you know how much I love music so this was the PERFECT book for me. At first it took some time to get into, but once I was into it...phew. It absolutely flew by and all I wanted to do was read. It’s about a fictional band from the 1970′s. I don’t even know what to say other than that so I don’t spoil anyone but it is a JOURNEY.  I found myself gasping at some points because of how shocking some things were. Ugh. I loved it. If you like Fleetwood Mac in any way, I highly, highly, highly recommend this book.
6. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Tumblr media
I knew I wanted to read this after I finished Daisy Jones, but I actually didn’t get around to it until a week or so ago. I flew through this one too and oh my god. If Daisy Jones wasn’t shocking enough for you then this one. Oh. My. God. It’s about Evelyn Hugo, a fictional starlet from the 50′s (? I think) who asks a small time writer to help write her biography - to be released after she’s dead. Evelyn is such an intriguing character, you just want to know more and more and more. And there’s one thing about her that is absolutely shocking. There are actually so many shocking revelations throughout this book and it all took me completely off guard. Surprisingly, I feel like I learned a lot through this book and from Evelyn. She’s painted out to be not a very great person, and I think I understand why people think that about her, but I don’t see her that way at all. I actually feel like she’s a good person, maybe a bit selfish, but there’s one thing all of her decisions have in common. Love.
7. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Tumblr media
Phew. I can’t believe it took me this long to read this book. I thought I’d be okay with just seeing the movie but let me tell you...the book is so much more eye opening and amazing.. After the protests in June, I saw everyone talking about things like White Fragility and How to Be an Antiracist - but I knew those books wouldn’t be for me. Now hear me out...I hate non-fiction. I learn lessons much better through fictional stories and that’s why this one resonated so much with me. Starr is one of the most brave, incredible characters that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The way Angie writes her story is both beautiful and heartbreaking. You watch as she changes and how the people around her change by the horrific event that has taken place. I’m not gonna try to summarize it, because hopefully everyone knows what it’s about by now. If you haven’t yet, go pick it up. Right now. I feel like this is a story that’s going to be around forever and that we’ll be giving to our children to read when it’s time. As a white person, I can be empathetic, but I truly will never understand what it’s like for Black people, but reading this gave me a better understanding of what is actually happening. The Hate U Give taught me about how broken the system is, and how we can fix the issues that are plaguing the Black community right now. The most poignant and important book I could ever read.
8. On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
Tumblr media
After The Hate U Give, I couldn’t not read this one. And wow. On the Come Up follows Bri, the daughter of a rap legend, who is trying to make it in Garden Heights - the same neighborhood Starr is from in The Hate U Give. Bri’s journey is rough, but it’s incredible to see the work she puts in to end up on top. Sometimes the decisions she makes get taken the wrong way, but in the end, her family as at the core of every decision she makes. All she wants is her family to be okay and I think that’s something that a lot of people can relate to. On the Come Up might not be as deep as The Hate U Give, but Angie teaches some incredible lessons through this story too. Also, let me just say...Angie wrote some INCREDIBLE raps for this book and I really hope we get to hear them come to life one day.
Other reads:
Those are my favorites of the year, but I still read a lot of other books this year. I re-read The Hunger Games trilogy! I read The Hunger Games way back in 2010, so it was about time that I re-read them. And let me be honest...I stopped Catching Fire about halfway through...so I never finished them until this year...I have to say they were kind of disappointing. It might just be that it’s been so long that I don’t connect as much with the stories anymore, but they are still great.
I FINALLY read the Percy Jackson series! I had The Lightning Thief chilling on my shelf since I was in 5th grade and something finally got me to read this series. It did not disappoint and I loved every second of it. I can’t wait to see what the Disney+ series is going to be like - hopefully they actually do it justice this time around.
This year I have been obsessing over Tom Holland...lol so naturally I read every book that he was signed on to be in the adaptation for. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness aka the first Chaos Walking book was by far my favorite. The movie is coming out in March! I also read Cherry by Nico Walker and The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock. Cherry was...interesting. I kind of hated the narrator the whole time so I’m hoping they changed up the movie a bit. I’m thinking they did because I read some BTS stories and some of them don’t line up with what was in the book. TDATT was a little disturbing...but I enjoyed it. The book was much better than the movie, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend either to anyone...unless you wanted to see Tom or Sebastian Stan or Riley Keough in the movie. I’m sure I will be finishing the Chaos Walking series eventually and I’m also interested in reading Beneath a Scarlet Sky which Tom has been signed on to for a while. That one sounds very intriguing and I’m excited to hopefully read it next year.
I finally watched Big Little Lies and I wasn’t going to read the book, but I did end up eventually reading it. It was good but not nearly as good as the series. It might be because I knew how it all would end, but it overall, was not my favorite. I don’t think I’ll be reading any more of Liane Moriarty’s books though.
Oh! So I read The Cursed Child...That’s all I’m gonna say.
I completely forgot to add I also read Roomies and Twice in a Blue Moon by Christina Lauren. Roomies was very good and probably could be in my favorites list, but it just didn’t reach the level of the other three. It was fun though, so if you liked any of those three, I would recommend it. Twice in a Blue Moon though...I was so bored. I almost stopped reading it a few times but I just pushed through. It wasn’t a rom com at all, just a romance, which wasn’t for me. A lot of people that liked Christina Lauren recommended Beach Read - which I read, and did not enjoy very much. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t phenomenal, that’s for sure.
There were a few YA books I read this year: Slayer, Truly Devious, Capturing the Devil, the final two TATBILB books...but my favorite was Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare. It’s been a while since I’ve been into her books but wooooww. Chain of Gold was incredible. I loved the characters and I loved that we got to see our favorite characters from The Infernal Devices again. It was a JOURNEY and reminded me why I started reading CC in the first place.
Well...That’s it for my reading wrap up of 2020! Here’s to another great year of great books in 2021!

Medea Saw Pokemon: I Choose You
Tumblr media
As you all should know by now, I am indeed a Pokemon fan. And have seen nearly any and all Pokemon episodes, specials, and movies up to this date. And that includes making sure my ass is in the movie theaters to see a Pokemon movie on the big screen. I did it for the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and whatever number the Victini movie was. So seeing this movie was a definite must. And just my luck it came out on a Sunday (my usual day off from both school and work).
Being the ever so anxious fan, I arrived in San Francisco an hour early. Guess I got lucky with public transit. No worries, the theater is allowing people to come in early. And when I entered, they were playing Pokemon Generations.
Um...why? Okay, I understand that you want us to have the feeling of Kanto. But the movie we’re about to watch involves Ash and Pikachu. Not (DOTDOTDOT) Red. But luckily, it was only the first 3 episodes of Generations.
Tumblr media
And I can’t say no to seeing Lorelei. Her and her happy tats were on the big screen. And that’s a big plus in my book.
Aside from that was an AMV (I’m calling it that) to the tune of the first OP song featuring footage of the past 19 movies. And of course advertising the first 52 episodes being available on Blu-ray.
So the movie begins a little bit like the first episode. Except we now know the trainers battling. They’re the ones from the first movie.
Tumblr media
You member? Well their names are Neesha and Corey.
The two on the right. Not the other dude. They were on the screen fighting as Ash stayed up late watching in anticipation for the next day as he’s going to become a pokemon trainer.
Well a lot like the first episode, dude oversleeps and breaks his alarm clock, causing him to be totally late to Professor Oak’s and run around town in his pajamas. When he got there, yep, all the pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) are gone.
We saw the back of Gary’s head. And that’s all we see of him. Hope you enjoyed that Gary fans.
But as a shock, we actually saw an image of the other two Pallet trainers. We still don’t have names, but they look like Marina (from the episode Bye Bye Psyduck) and Tierno (from Pokemon XY). I’m not saying they’re them, I’m just saying they look like them.
Tumblr media
So Ash gets Pikachu.
Usual shit, shock, walk, try to catch Pidgey, fail, hit Spearow, flock of Spearow come attacking, Ash and Pikachu are beat-up, get in the pokeball, no, Ash makes declaration to Spearow, Pikachu attacks, sky clears, enter Ho-oh.
And then Ash receives the Rainbow Wing from Ho-oh.
Which I am pretty sure is the reason why Ash never ages. I’m pretty sure Ho-oh’s Rainbow Wings are the fountain of youth in this universe.
AND THEN WE GET THE OPENING! It’s a lot like the video that the Pokemon Company has been showing all week with the footage of Ash and Pikachu. Except they played quite a bit of the song and even see footage of past movies like Lugia and Slowking from the second movie, Lickylicky and Torterra from the 10th movie, and a few backgrounds from the Victini movie.
Now for the rest of the movie that is going to go down a much different route. Be prepared. I’m not holding back. So spoiler warning. This is your one and only warning. GTFO if you don’t want to see...
So Ash goes about by doing some similar things including capturing a Caterpie and battling gym leaders. Well the only gym leader he battled was Erika of Celadon City.
Tumblr media
Yeah, pretty much dressed like this usual attire. And I am pretty certain that she is NOT voiced by original voice, Leah Applebaum.
And to add it off, this is Ash’s 3rd gym battle. Who were the other gym leaders he beat?
Oh well, Ash ends up at a Pokemon Center where he actually calls his mother. And boy is she mad. She’s been calling all over Kanto to make sure her baby is okay. Then Delia mentions Ash being like his father.
...
...It took so much of my energy to stop myself from yelling in the theater, “WHO IS HIS FATHER?” Dammit Delia!
Team Rocket’s there...and they do nothing.
But he soon hangs up on his momma when he learns that a legendary pokemon is prancing around. It’s Entei from the Johto region. So Ash starts running around trying to see if he can battle it. But not before running into our new female, Verity.
Tumblr media
She comes from Twinleaf in Sinnoh. And has a Piplup. And thank the fuck Christ it isn’t as annoying as Dawn’s. So I’m not praying it gets hit by a Draco Meteor. She wants to battle Entei too and they both fight over it until they end up in a world of trouble with a rogue Onix. Luckily Ash saves the day by being his usual reckless self.
Then they meet the other kid lurking around in the Pokemon Center earlier.
Tumblr media
Sorrel from Veilstone in Sinnoh. THIS DUDE COMES FROM THE SAME TOWN AS PAUL AND CONWAY. SOMEONE GIVE ME MORE TO GO ON! Anyways, he leaves because a storm is coming.
While Ash and Verity are running to shelter, they see a Charman...oh fuck, I know where this is going!
Tumblr media
Yeah, Charmander...the stray pokemon. Well we’re about to meet the douche that ditched it on a rock. Well...who knows? He could be a little better than Dami...
And he kicked Charmander.
Yeah, I fucking hate you now.
Tumblr media
Nope. I have no likeness, compassion, or anything for Cross. He could cure cancer, kick Donald Trump in the testicles, and bring peace in the middle east, and I will still hate his fucking guts.
So Ash and Verity save the little Charmander by hiding in a cave. Surprise, it’s the same one Sorrel is hiding in. He ends up saving Charmander with some medicine, and Ash nurses him like a baby throughout the night.
This night in the cave is cold and so the trainers want to put the pokemon back in the pokeballs. Well...Pikachu hates pokeballs and still refuses to go in. And with that Verity and Sorrel’s pokemon don’t want to go either.
We learn a little more about these two mystery characters. Sorrel wants to become a Pokemon Professor and meet rare legendaries on his journey. And Verity has a mother that’s a very powerful trainer.
But wait, there’s more! There’s a scene where everyone else is sleeping and Verity is going through her photos and stops at one of her...mother?
Tumblr media
Wait, wait, wait! I know this chick has Cynthia’s long hair and it looks so much like her...but I can’t remember, does she have an Empoleon in the games.
Fuck it, her mother’s Cynthia, I guess.
And we learn that Sorrel once had a cute little Luxray that watched over him when he was a tyke. And then one day he got hurt in a snowstorm. And Luxray shielded him until help came.
And the Luxray froze to death.
Tumblr media
Dammit movie, you’re trying to break me. But I’m not going down that easy! BUT FUCK, YOU HAD TO SHOW LUXRAY SMILING EVEN IN DEATH! HOW FUCKED UP ARE YOU PEOPLE?!
Retelling of Ho-oh tale, Burned Tower, the three legendary doggies, moving on...
Ash, Verity, and Sorrel survive the night. And Ash ends up catching Charmander.
Entei sighting.
Caterpie evolves.
Verity sees Suicune.
Charmander evolves.
Marshadow stalks.
Team Rocket does nothing.
Ash wins several battles.
Here comes Kicky McDoucheCross. He battles Ash and Charmeleon. Cross uses his JOHN CENNNNNNNNAAAA (Incineroar). And much like the Ash we all know and love, he uses a not fully-evolved pokemon against a much powerful evolved pokemon. And loses.
And much like Ash, he ends up brooding after losing. You know how those go. Ash has many of these moments like when he lost to Gary and Paul and Wulfric and Richie and Brawly and TOO MANY TO FUCKING COUNT!
So he ends up having a pretty bad mood swing and taking his anger out on Verity and Sorrel. And even Pikachu when even he disagrees. And then Ash said something I NEVER thought he would ever say.
“I should have chosen Squirtle or Bulbasaur.”
OW. DAMMIT MOVIE. OW. Nope...no tears. No tears Medea, fight it!
So Ash is alone and falls to sleep. All the while his rainbow wing starts to taint (as it does if the person holding it has a tainted heart). Ash wakes up in...a normal world?
WHAT?!
There’s no pokemon. He’s going to school. Like a regular kid...
NO WAY!
OH MY GOD, AGATHA IS TEACHING AND PROFESSOR OAK IS OUTSIDE AND IN CHARGE.
Tumblr media
Pokemon...have you been tracking me and my story Romance 101. Granted, it’s been around for over 10 years...But that’s so OH MY GOD!
Thankfully this world dies when Ash remembers Pikachu’s name. And not a moment too soon. Jesus “Tap Dancing” Christ. No more Pokemon in School shit! Ash wakes up, he’s sorry for snapping, the feather is back to being all rainbowy. We’re off to a mountain to see Ho-oh.
But then...
Pink Butterfree. FUCK!
Tumblr media
Stop trying to make me cry, movie.
Yeah, Ash’s Butterfree saves the Pink Butterfree from a Fearow. They do courtship dance. Butterfree must go with his ho on the go and leave Ash. They fly away. Ash cries.
Phew...no tears. Okay movie, I’m done with you trying to kill me with feels. You’re worse than a Key Animation anime.
We see Raikou.
Okay, back to journey to the special mountain. They meet an old coot named Banji who’s been a Ho-oh enthusiast for the last 20 years. Ash is ready to be the one to take the feather to the top and summon Ho-oh.
And then Crossfucker comes AND RUINS EVERYTHING! Oh he totally did. Ash and Cross battle and thankfully the results were different from last time as Charmeleon evolved into Charizard and beat Cross and his JOHN CENNNNNNAAAAAA!
But FuckaCross doesn’t take losing well and said he saw Ho-oh once too. But he wasn’t blessed with a feather. So he takes Ash’s feather. And it becomes tainted. And Marshadow appears and just makes shit worse as he gets the pokemon from the area to fight everyone.
This was intense. Like 1st movie intense. There was strangling, biting, and explosions of all kinds!
And this just totally wrecks Ash and Pikachu. Overkill. So once again, Ash is telling Pikachu to get in the fucking pokeball and stand there as these powerful pokemon unleash their attacks on him. Pikachu refuses and ACTUALLY SPEAKS?!
Tumblr media
IT SPOKE.
IT FUCKING SPOKE.
IT WANTS TO BE WITH ASH. THAT’S WHY IT REFUSES TO GO IN THE BALL.
Tumblr media
And just like the first movie Ash brushes with death. Except he dissipates leaving Pikachu sobbing into Ash’s hat.
ALMOST...You almost got me movie!
Ash returns from purgatory.
And here comes Ho-oh to calm everyone down. And Ash finally gets to battle with Ho-oh.
Except we don’t see it. We just know they go back to the Pokemon Center and he mentions battling Ho-oh.
Well it’s time to go on. Verity’s gonna go home to Mama Cynthia. Sorrel is going to search for the legendary birds Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos. And Ash continues his journey with Pikachu.
Then the ending credits. We see Brock. We see Misty.
OKAY POKEMON, LISTEN UP!
I’m fed the fuck up with this shit. Every single solitary time I have hopes of seeing Tracey Sketchit, you guys fuck it up for me. Like the line cuts off when Oak brings him to the phone or he’s away with the Waterflower Slut-Brigade, or fuck if I know. Because he sure as fuck wasn’t there in those two Kanto episodes of Sun and Moon. If you fuckers don’t show my anime husband in the next five seconds Imma quit this whole...
Tumblr media
OH MY GOD!
AM I SEEING THINGS?
Tumblr media
A MOMENT LIKE THIS
SOME PEOPLE WAIT A LIFETIME
FOR A MOMENT LIKE THIS
FOR TRACEY TO FUCKING SHOW UP
OHHHHHHH I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME
GLALIE-LUJAH! PRAISE ARCEUS! HOT DIGGITY DAFFODILS! TRACEY SKETCHIT! MY LIFE IS FUCKING COMPLETE! HIM. THERE. ON THE BIG SCREEN.
THEY REMEMBERED YOU. I’M SO HAPPY I COULD CRY.
I’M CRYING OF HAPPINESS! I’M CRYING OF HAPPY TEARS!
Tumblr media
NO, FUCK YOU ROBBERT LOGGIA GIF!
TRACEY WAS ON THE BIG SCREEN! THIS NEVER HAPPENS. NOT SINCE MOVIE 4. HE HASN’T BEEN SEEN SINCE 2013. NOW, HERE HE IS!
*inhales*
Okay, so aside from that we also see May, Max, Dawn, Iris, Dento-fruit, Clemont, Bonnie, and Blushy McIdiot...whoops I mean Serena. We see some pokeballs (and a Voltorb) in the credits. Sorrel and Verity for a sec. Team Rocket...again with the nothing.
The End.
Phew...this movie. GO SEE IT. Yes, Gen “Wunners” I’m talking to you. Look, I know you’re sad that this retelling of Ash’s beginning doesn’t have Misty and Brock. But I’m begging you to just look past that imperfection and actually WATCH the movie. I’m almost upset at the fact that the movie theater I went to was nearly empty during the screening. I saw more people at the Victini showing than this. And this movie is so much better than the Victini.
You know what? For years, I’ve always imagined how Pokemon would EVER end. And if it did, I would always imagine it with Ho-oh, Pikachu actually speaking, and Ash either dying or brink of death. And this movie shocked me and gave me all three. I’m at a complete loss of words. I was so hooked on this movie.
The one miss for this movie goes to Team Rocket. Ash never sees them. They literally do nothing. And other than Meowth, we don’t see another pokemon from them except in the credits where we see Wobbuffet. What was their point of being in the movie? This movie would have been perfect if they weren’t in it.
Voice wise, Sarah Natochenny, you KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. I know I was never a fan of you voicing Ash. I mean, Rica Matsumoto is literally tops. And then Veronica Taylor, I will never forget. But your performance here was wonderful. Kate Bristol, Suzy Myers, Michele Knotz, I’m so happy to hear you all. Jimmy Zoppi...*sighs* all I hear is Weevil. No matter who you voice. Meowth sounds like Weevil. James sounds like Weevil with a cold. Professor Oak sounds like Weevil if he was an old man. I’m never going to get over that.
Shipping wise...AH-HA! Gotcha there, it was Pikashipping. And nothing else!
Music wise, I know they only kept like one original BGM and everything else was tampered. I mean it was okay. The opening still brings back nostalgic feels. The ending theme, kind of sweet really.
Sorry for being all ranty with this entry. But I didn’t want to wait 2-3 years to tell people how I really felt about this movie when I review Sun and Moon. Plus I just saw this movie like 4 hours ago. So I’m still pretty hyped.
I don’t give number scores with my reviews so please just go by what I say here. See this movie. There are 3 more days in the U.S. where you can find a theater to watch this. If not, wait three weeks and watch it on Thanksgiving weekend on Disney XD.
Phew. Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s been a long day and I earned myself some pizza.

Don’t be surprised, this is my first-time visit to Phuket in Thailand. Patong is a hotspot with many tourists from the world who came to the island to relax, enjoy the island sight-seeing, eating out and have fun. The weather here is quite hot due to its humid weather because Phuket is an island, surrounded by Andaman sea.
The first day I took an hour flight from KL to reach the Phuket International Airport. In the meantime, looking for a taxi to our hotel in Patong, we also booked a tour to Phi Phi Island and other island attractions which I’m not sure what is the name of it.
It took about one and a half hours to reach Coconut Village Resort, located at Prachanukroh Road. It is very happening at night in this area and packed with tourists from different countries, walking back and forth along the road, be it day or night, where the people go to Patong Beach or the other way for food. Tourists from Hong Kong, China, Japan, South Korea, Middle-East, Europe, you name.
My hotel room kind of big for one person, interconnected to next room and facing T-junction. Not good feng shui for sleep? It’s too noisy at night with cars and bikes.
Patong at night from the balcony view
Guess it is a lot more happening on the weekends. You will also see many tuk-tuks, tour vans and tourists on motorcycles. It’s nonstop busy on the road. There are a lot of bike rental shops around Patong if you want to get a bike.
There are varieties of food in Patong from food stalls, food court, cafes, restaurants and night market as well for souvenirs. There are cafes around Patong in case you need a cold fresh drink or coffee to cool you down from the hot sun. You can also get some booze in the Patong area, where pubs and bars are located at a popular night hotspot in Bangla Road.
Guess I don’t need to do anymore introduction if you have already been to Patong. Let’s get straight to the point.
First Day – Relaxing Time in Patong
Back to our first-day trip, we went straight to check out Patong beach which was just a walking distance from our resort. As we hanging out at the beach for a smoke, a tour guide approached us. As we can’t deny with the cheapest price offered by the tour guide, we quickly agreed and get tour ride to a few attractions in Phuket such as gun shooting, ATV tour ride and a visit to Big Buddha Phuket.
We were so hungry so we decided to take lunch at a food court. The food court is quickly packed at night, where you can find a variety of food including crocodile meat, burgers, mango sticky rice, fruit drinks and many more.
Our resort is located just in front of the main road towards Patong Beach. There are things to do in Patong Beach such as a picnic, tanning, relax, jetski and many more. After an exhausting day, you can cross the road to get a cold beer! I skipped Patong Beach as we are going to Phi Phi.
For sightseeing and beautiful beaches, you have to get to Phi Phi Island to really enjoy the amazing beach view but for a price. I have visited a few best sightseeing in Hua Hin Thailand during my latest Hua Hin travel review.
I had terrible night sleeping thanks to the sound pollution and blasting top hits music from the heavily equipped car sound systems tuk-tuk and also those motorbike’s exhaust sound, it was so annoying. Duh, it’s really terrible when you stay in a room facing the busy main road.
On the first night, we all headed out from our resort looking for dinner. We had our seafood dinner just nearby our hotel. Right after dinner, of course, the most popular thing to do in Patong is massage! Guess this is my first time to get the foot massage. Wow, there are many many massage parlours in Patong too.
Then after the foot massage, I went back to the resort lobby for AOV session with my friends. I can say AOV gaming sessions was my day and night gaming session during the 4 days stay in Patong. Even the staff the lobby was asking us if we were playing AOV. lol.
The Wifi connection not so good in the room as I will get disconnected or unable to connect, the best was to hang out and play AOV in the lobby!
Phuket is also popular with Thai Boxing, there was one time while walking ban ack to the resort, there was a Thai Boxing advertisement car making the announcement for an upcoming Thai boxing match, driving slowly next to us. I felt like dancing with the Muay Thai stance.
‘You See Thai Boxing, You See Thailand‘… Lol, I guess that was what I’ve heard from the announcement.
Guess it was a big match at Bangla Boxing Stadium Patong, they announced almost every day, including posters everywhere around the city. I actually have a moment of thought to join Muay Thai classes once I’m back to KL.
#Travel Tips: Due to the hot scorching sun, you might get heatstroke and headache. You can buy Peppermint Inhaler (cost about 24 Baht) for standby just in case and it’s available at 7-Eleven, Family Mart and other sidewalk shops in Patong.
Day 2 – Speedboat Ride to Phi Phi Island
The second day, I woke up early at 8.30am headed for breakfast. Then I waited for the tour driver to arrive as I’m heading to some beautiful island in Phuket.
Reached Phi Phi Island on a bumpy speedboat which took 1 hour to reach the popular island destination. I get to tour around the island from one place to another on the speedboat. When reached Phi Phi Island, it was like entering another world of paradise with crystal clear, blue-green seawater. The view is amazing.
I was out from morning until the evening and exhausted. I returned to the resort at 6pm. Really time-consuming tour but I get to enjoy the amazing views and sightseeing around Phi Phi Island.
Guess we are the four monkeys on the beach
Our group are advised by the tour guide not to feed the monkeys, I mean those real monkeys on Monkey Beach. They’ll snatch things.
Too bad I didn’t get the chance to visit the popular Bangla Road where there are many nightclubs, bars and discos that I had heard words from mouth to mouth. It is a walking distance from the resort I’m staying but I didn’t make it due to the laziness of walking far and we all are not consuming any alcohol. I didn’t get to ride on those fucking noisy tuk-tuk as well. At night, it was AOV sessions again.
We had dinner at the same seafood stall… again. It’s really Eat, Play, Sleep & Repeat in Patong!
Day 3 – ATV Adventure
Each journey out of Patong city to another place of attractions really takes a long time to arrive. It took about an hour to reach the place (no idea what’s the name) where you can play extreme activities such as ATV / Buggy ride, elephant ride, zip line in Phuket. Also, find out more about my ATV offroad adventure in Hua Hin and find out how amazing it is!
The third day is a fun outing day where I get to ride on ATV on bumpy offroad all the way up to Big Buddha in Phuket. At the top, you can get the surrounding view of Phuket Island. I then have to ride the ATV all the back downhill. It was fun but my right thumb hurts like hell. You got to try ATV for 1800 Baht and you’ll know why.
Going on a holiday trip with friends is more fun and have time to relax than my previous trip to Bintan. I can go anywhere I like. Do anything I want. It’s Freedom.
After that, I took lunch at best kept secret seafood restaurant in Phuket. While eating, I discovered some new music and that was luk thung, Thai country music! Do check out the songs I’ve grabbed with SoundHound. Really give you the ‘Thai culture feeling‘ while eating seafood by sea.
Then we informed our tour guide to drop us at Thanon Ratuthut Songproipi Road and took a walk from there as we explore the area ourselves. We headed to Jungceylon Shopping Mall for window shopping. There are many many things to do here, from shopping, eating and drinking.
During my third and fourth day holiday in Phuket, I was stoned and stumbled upon something running in my mind and said that I am actually quite lucky and there are not many people who might be so lucky or having a good life like us or me. Just my 2cents and I’ll keep it short. Sometimes it doesn’t mean you will have more experience in life. Some might not be so lucky, what they had gone through might be more than you or me. Is this the right way to describe? lol. Well, that’s life. So, start helping others who might be in need.
4th Day – Get Back to the Real World
Checked out on the 4th day at 12pm and tipped off 40 Baht for room keeping. Didn’t inform but yeah I did put the 40 Baht on my room’s table desk as tips. This is the way to show gratitude and a sign of thank you for the room keeper and actually I’m not sure what happened with the 40 baht hopefully the room keeper is smart enough as I did’t write any message on paper. LOL.
Phew… I relaxed the whole half-day at the lobby again for AOV. Man, just can’t get enough of it. Since we are leaving from our resort to the airport, we all took a short break at a cafe while waiting for time to past and taxi to arrive. I spent the rest of the day at the airport and then back to the real world at 1am after 4 days of eating hard and play AOV during my holiday trip in Phuket.
Tumblr media
Now I’m back to KL, I felt like a Muay Thai fighter, I got darker and tanned due to sunburn. Forgot to put on sunblock on my face. LOL.

Amazing Patong Holiday Trip 2018, Phuket – Chillax Getaway Don't be surprised, this is my first-time visit to Phuket in Thailand. Patong is a hotspot with many tourists from the world who came to the island to relax, enjoy the island sight-seeing, eating out and have fun.
