The Marble Queen
A sapphic YA graphic novel with sword fighting, political intrigue and magic where the princess needs a marriage alliance for the welfare of her kingdom, but she unknowingly accepts a proposal from a mysterious country, having come not from the prince, but his sister.
The Marble Queen is a YA fantasy graphic novel that’s the political drama of Nimona meets the heartfelt romance of The Princess and the Dressmaker, but this time in a sapphic romance surrounded by a mist of magic.
Princess Amelia’s kingdom, Marion, is in shambles after months of their trade routes being ravaged by pirates, and now the only seemingly option left is for her to save it through a marriage alliance. When she gets an exorbitant offer from the royalty of Iliad—a country shrouded in mystery—Amelia accepts without question and leaves her home to begin a new life. But she lands on Iliad’s shores to find that her betrothed isn't the country’s prince, but the recently coronated Queen Salira.
Shocked, Amelia tries to make sense of her situation and her confused heart: Salira has awakened strange new feelings inside her, but something dark hides behind the Queen's sorrowful eyes. Amelia must fight the demons of her own anxiety disorder before she can tackle her wife's, all while war looms on the horizon.

Scourge Headcanons
Tumblr media
● None of them except for the Queen Gibdo are naturally occurring creatures, being either directly created by The Gloom in the case of Colgera or being modified from other creatures in the case of Marbled Gohma and Mucktorok.
● Have the highest concentrations of Gloom out of any monster aside from Phantom Ganon (which is The Gloom) and Ganondorf himself.
● Have varying degrees of intelligence, though all of them are more intelligent than more animalistic monsters.
● None of them aside from the Queen Gibdo ever stray far from their Temples. In Colgera’s case, it’s because its abilities are strong enough that it doesn’t need to leave and can focus on protecting the Secret Stone (God I hate that name) that it’s guarding. In the case of Marbled Gohma and Mucktorok, it’s so they can be relatively safe while they’re causing destruction, as Marbled Gohma prefers to actively avoid conflict and Mucktorok is aware of how frail it is. The Queen Gibdo can’t cause much destruction while inside of the Temple, and as such needs to take a more active role in the havoc being created than the others.
● Phantom Ganon is their direct superior, having created Colgera, mutated Marbled Gohma and Mucktorok, and gained control over Queen Gibdo by using The Gloom. It tasked them with both protecting the Secret Stones and dividing the people of Hyrule so Ganondorf would have a far easier time taking it over. It made sure there were a few backups for each of them in The Depths, though those ones are tasked with simply ensuring Ganondorf’s chokehold on The Depths doesn’t falter.
● Unlike Marbled Gohma and Mucktorok who are creatures altered by The Gloom or the Queen Gibdo who’s a naturally occurring creature controlled by it, Colgera is a completely unnatural entity specially created by Phantom Ganon. It had to make Colgera from scratch as none of the monsters native to Hebra and Tabantha that could be altered in a way to cause a great amount of destruction. As such, it is completely inorganic, much like Marbled Gohma.
● Colgera is the most animalistic of the Scourges, but is also the most directly dangerous of them, and has magical abilities that far exceed even Mucktorok. Despite this, it prefers to use this magic to supplement its physical attacks with its bladed limbs, mandibles, and spikes. It does tend to use its wind powers to launch its spikes and its ice powers to regrow them, but it rarely uses them more than that unless it’s facing a particularly difficult opponent.
● Due to its massive magical power, it passively affects a massive area surrounding it. Due to this, it focuses a large amount of time guarding the Wind Temple’s Secret Stone.
● The crystalline cores where it stores a majority of The Gloom holding it together are very obvious weak spots. It can survive without them for a time, but needs to grow them back quickly, and it takes a while to gain enough energy to regrow more cores again, so destroying all of them twice in quick succession is all that is needed to kill it.
● Phantom Ganon gave it its ice and wind-related abilities to cause destruction and defend itself, but gave it the ability to teleport to help it more effectively move around and disorient attackers since it is a massive target. It prefers to use this ability more directly in fights than it does its other magical abilities, usually using it to catch any opponents facing it off-guard with its mandibles and forelimbs.
● Marbled Gohma is a heavily altered Talus transformed by Gloom, with the darker colored rocks being what once was its original body.
● The Gloom influencing it was heavily altered by Phantom Ganon during its creation, altering its life-sapping abilities into a far more subtle and insidious form.
● It can spread its Gloom to rocks, not only allowing it to turn them into bombs or the mind altering marbled rocks, but also turn them into various things such as legs to carry its heavily modified body. It also was able to create Moragia this way. As versatile as its use of rocks is though, The Gloom’s influence has partially eroded them, making them more brittle than they should be.
● While it could control Moragia fully due to it being a direct creation of it, its control over the Gorons was far more limited. While its Gloom couldn’t directly control them, it could alter their minds to make them lethargic and crave more of its marbled rocks.
● Phantom Ganon created it to be far more tactical and less direct than the other Scourges, as the Gorons would probably take most more direct disasters in stride. As such, it created Marbled Gohma with the express purpose of removing them from the fray in a way that would be nearly impossible for them to react to. For this reason, it is a very intelligent being.
● Mucktorok was created by Phantom Ganon by using Gloom to heavily mutate an Octorok, heavily altering its physiology and abilities.
● The sludge it creates is made from its own rocky projectiles liquified by Gloom. While it can’t sap life like most Gloom can, it’s incredibly difficult to move through and Mucktorok can shape it into a variety of more directly dangerous forms.
● While it can use the sludge to make armor for itself in any shape it wishes, it prefers making it shark-like, possibly due to it formerly being an aquatic creature. When in its shells, it also tends to launch out beams of superheated sludge so hot they appear pink.
● The most intelligent of the Scourges by a large margin, Octorok are already fairly intelligent creatures, and the Gloom only made it smarter. It is well-aware of how frail its body is, and as such compensates by using its intelligence to use its sludge powers in ways that allow it to debilitate, attack, and protect itself from harm. It’s also intelligent enough to apply its sludge to other monsters, the sludge-like being a notable example.
● Phantom Ganon created it for the express purpose of keeping the Zora confined to the Lanaryu region by blocking streams. This was done not only aa a means to keep the Zora preoccupied, but also to cut off highly skilled Zora healers from other regions. Its sludge, while easily washed away by high pressure or fast moving water, can easily clog standing water and calmer rivers.
● The Queen Gibdo is the only Scourge The Gloom had no hand in making, instead being controlled by it due to how dangerous a Queen Gibdo already is.
● She is an incredibly old monster, believed to have been around since The Calamity at least.
● Due to The Gloom simply controlling her rather than having a hand in her creation or transformation, she’s at least slightly more self-aware than the other Scourges.
● Due to her age, she’s actually fairly intelligent. She’s intelligent enough to retreat when she’s in danger and use her subjects as distractions while she attacks from afar.
● Phantom Ganon chose to control her because of the Gibdos’ physical resilience, which would be highly effective against the Gerudo who rely mostly on physical combat. Not to mention the sand storms she could easily kick up would help isolate the Gerudo, preventing them from sending their highly skilled warriors to assist other regions. She could be doing a lot more damage, but Ganondorf merely wanted the Gerudo to be uninvolved, and didn’t like the idea of causing too much destruction to his people all that well. As such Phantom Ganon has made her hold back with the havoc her sand shroud and subjects are causing.
