Yandere TDATT characters being in love with you would include...
ft. arvin, preston, lee, willard, lenora
a/n: pls don't kill me for the preston part, i mean some of you simp for joker who is much worse, btw y/n and Lenora are 18
༻♛༺
⤷ Arvin Eugene Russell
-Arvin would probably first met you at school when he was waiting for Lenora. He saw you standing up for Lenora to her bullies which immediately made him curious about you.
-So he would ask Lenora about you, he'd also told her to befriend you so you can help her in school, definitely not to know more about you.
-POSSESSIVE
-He would stalk you, sometimes he'd be in his car, driving behind your walking figure on the street, or he would sneak to your house at night watching you sleep or shower or do literally anything.
-He will protect you more than he does Lenora. If anyone even look at you the wrong way, they will end up with several broken bones. And if someone tries to touch you without your permission or make you slightly uncomfortable, the person will end up dead.
-After some time he will approach you. Starting a conversation about how glad he is that Lenora has you, that he cannot be around her to protect her all the time.
-He would never hurt you. Maybe if you find out that he killed someone for you, he would try to manipulate you, but he would never punch your or something similar.
-He would kidnap you soon, just to make sure that you are safe with him. He would also take a good care of you, will give you some freedom when he trusts you enough that you won't run away.
-He would want to spend every minute with you and he won't ever let you go, he loves you so much.
⤷ Preston Teagardin
-Preston would meet you in church after your grandma took you there. You didn't believe in god (you were atheist) and just lived normal life but that was to your grandma a sin. Your grandpa didn't really care because he was atheist as well so you often made jokes about your granny's faith.
-When Preston saw you he knew that he wants you. Your beaty was unbelievable. Which made him curious about you. He saw in your eyes that you don't believe in god and that's what attracted him.
-Your grandma told him how sinful you are and asked him if he could talk to you, which he gladly accepted.
-He would manipulate your grandma to think that he needs more time with you, alone. So she will make you go to the church more often, than he could be alone with you.
-Possessive and obsessive, will also stalk you a lot. Probably in his car at night looking into your window at you.
-He wouldn't even try to convince you to believe in god because he himself doesn't believe in him. He is also atheist he's just doing it for the money and power.
-You two will be alone in the church or after some time in his house. He would be over the moon because he can have you all to himself. BUT he wouldn't do anything without your verbal consent, because he would never hurt you in any way.
-Your relationship will be a secret from the start, just few glances and his death stares at anyone who's talking to you.
-But after some time he wouldn't be able to control himself anymore. He just has to have you, all the time. He can't get enough of you.
-He will kidnap you unless you go voluntarily. If yes than you two will run away and live somewhere in countryside where no one will bother you. You will have freedom around the house and on the yard, but he's the one who will go for grocery OR he will go with you, just to make sure no one will talk nor touch his precious angel.
⤷ Lee Bodecker
-Lee will stop you while he was working because you drove too fast. When he pull you over he was too stunned to speak. You were beautiful and he saw fire in your eyes.
-He shook his head and flirt with you, but enough not to make it weird nor make you uncomfortable. At the end of the day he didn't give you the speed ticket and let you go under one condition, which was to give him your name and phone number.
-After that he will make excuses to talk to you, so he would either stop you at the driveway or call you or knock on your door for a talk (because he will found out where you live by stalking you or looking into your file at the police station)
-He is also a stalker but not that much like Arvin, Preston or Willard. He will call it 'looking out for you just in case some men will make you uncomfortable' because he's a policeman, after all it's his job ;)
-He will offer you his help to stay close to you, doesn't matter if you need help with grocery or drop you somewhere in his police car.
-If anyone touches you, make you uncomfortable OR dare to flirt with you, he will arrest them for a long time and make sure they will leave you alone.
-He won't be rude to you or harsh but he will be dominant (like every other characters except Lenora) because he is policeman, you will have to have some respect for him.
-He will kidnap you sooner rather than later, just in case no man will hurt you, this city is cruel...and he can have you for himself.
⤷ Willard Russell
-Willard couldn't take his eyes off of you, when he saw you at that bar. He will talk to you as long as possible and he will flirt with you. After your shift he will take you home to make sure you are fine, definitely not to find out where you live ;)
-He will come to that bar more often to see you and talk to you, will also protect you like that, because no man would even try to talk to you when they saw that Willard is near you.
-At night he will sneak into your house and sat next to your bed, watching you sleep for few hours, you now again just in case.
-He is the most possessive of them all, also the biggest stalker. If anyone will try to talk to you, he will wait on them somewhere in private so no one could see what he will do to that man, because i'm telling you the man that talked to you won't survive or he will have a REALLY hard time.
-He will kidnap you after just two months, this world is too dangerous for someone so beautiful and precious like you.
-He also wouldn't hurt you but he will manipulate you if you won't listen to him. He is also the most dominant, he is veteran so he has some discipline and will 'teach' you how to listen to him.
-Won't let you out of the house but otherwise you have freedom and if you need anything from the shop, he will either go with you or buy anything you need. Most of the time you will stay home tho.
⤷ Lenora Laftery
-Lenora will meet you at school, you were her new classmate. She is the purest of them all but don't let her innocence fool you. She might be pure and innocent but she's not dumb, she can use it.
-From the start she will pray to god every night so he make her emotions for you vanish. But she will get use to them after some time.
-She will make herself a victim more than she already is to make you protect her from her bullies.
-She is more like your worshiper. Let's say you will became her new 'god' more like goddess, she will worship the ground you walk on, will pray every night for you and your love.
-She will also be a bit confused how much emotions she feels towards you, unhealthy emotions like lust, obsession, desire,... which she finds sinful and horrible but she cannot help herself.
-She won't stalk you... lot, but will kind of spend as much time with you as possible, which means sleepover or study dates (like she likes to call it, even tho they aren't)
-She also won't kidnap you made she will make herself look like a victim even more so you will stay by her side, if you talk to other guys she will act hurt and will say that the guys has been bullying her so you will eventually stop talking to him. She loves you and won't let you leave her side.

Yandere Arvin Russell (1/5)
Tumblr media
Word count ; 4.0k
*Edited
*Dedicated to @lovehoneypotto.
I grinned expectantly as I threw open the church doors with two jars tucked under my arm. All attention landed on me as I interrupted the congregation - including the glowering eyes of my mother. The priest, who was new, young, and recently graduated from… Bible college, halted his preach. My mother publicly apologized, rising to her feet, but it was too late.
I opened the jars and released the hoard of butterflies and mother into the church. Some elderly women let out screeches, the young children rose from their seat and began chasing them joyously, and some adults just laughed. The members were generally used to my harmless antics; I presumed that some old timers were so used to it that it wasn’t a normal Sunday without a prank of some sort.
A laugh bubbled in my throat as a lovely Easter Tiger Swallowtail, with its black on yellow stripes, landed on my lower arm. I raised it to me. My mother was still attempting to reach me amidst the chaos. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a handsome church boy staring at me.
“Friends,” the priest suddenly boomed, "this young child has given us a gift from the Lord. The Lord gave us nature, and this young, brilliant child has brought one of nature’s gifts to the Lord’s doorstep. Calm yourselves, and let us pray!”
I met the priest’s eyes. How surprising. The old priest always lost his temper and berated me. Embarrassed me. However… the priest would learn. It was his first time around. He was just trying to cover up for his embarrassment.
I finally stirred so that I could set the jars on an empty bench. The butterfly departed, joining the rest of the flock. A small child came up and grabbed my skirt. I smiled and patted his head.
“Y/n, Y/n! How did you catch them?”
I crouched down to his height amidst the depleting chaos. “Well, you just sit really, rally still around flowers and they land on you. Then you put them in the jar.”
“Can you give me one —"
His mother suddenly yanked him back. “Young lady! Is it not enough for you to disrupt the congregation every Sunday? How dare you speak to my son —“
I was suddenly grabbed by the collar of my shirt. I let out a yelp of pain, coming face to face with my mother. Her face was beet red. “You told me you got a job. You told me that, for once, you were making yourself useful! How f - how dare you disrupt the Lord’s house! Ten - no, twenty lashes are in store!”
The priest pushed his way through the crowd. “Friend," he spoke smoothly. “Are the butterflies not beautiful?”
Tears stung the creases of my eyes. But I didn’t want to let her see me cry. My mother suddenly collapsed on her hands and knees She clasped her hands together and began praying furiously. “Dear Lord, please forgive my heinous child. She knows not what she’s done. Please, hear my prayers, and release her from the devil that holds her captive —“
The priest crouched down as well, praying. I could barely hear him over my crying mother. I took a few steps away. “My Lord, thank you for sending this child with gifts from heaven. Please, bless her and her mother with all of earth’s riches —“
I began to sneer. I couldn’t take it anymore. These snide assholes and their god would not listen, and I had no devil within me. I grabbed my jars and was about to make my exit. I peered over my shoulder one last time.
That handsome church boy was still looking at me.
I sent him a smirk.
~~~
“It… it’s you.”
I raised my head from my spot in the parking lot. I was surprised, when, instead of those ruthless bullies, it was the handsome church boy. He looked nervous. He was wearing his crush on his sleeves.
I took in his figure. He had large arms and callous hands, indicating that he was a working man. His face was pleasant to look at. It was full of youth and demure, with prominent dimples and curly brown hair. He had brilliant blue eyes and his Southern accent was thick.
“Why, hello there, handsome,” I giggled. “Finally worked up the courage to talk to me, huh? I’ve seen you around. We have history together, you know.”
His cheeks reddened and his foot shuffled, digging into the plot of grass. I was leaning against the lamp post while sitting in the thin strip of grass that separated the parking lot and the front of the school. “I… I noticed. A while ago, actually.”
I sent him a grin and patted the grass in front of him for him to sit. “Spare me a moment of your time, handsome. You must have some if you’re talkin’ to little ol’ me. Does that face of your’s have a name?”
I loved the affect I had on him. Many a time I’ve had confused, shy schoolboys who convinced themselves a girl like me was either worth fixing or worth pursuing. But… this one was worth my time. He was handsome,, after all. I’d certainly noticed him before and how he stared at me in class.
“I’m Arvin. Arvin Russell. Your ma and my grandma and sister go to church together,” he introduced, jutting his hand out.
I took it slyly, firmly shaking. “Pleasure to meet ya, Arvin Russell. You’re funny. Don’t you also go to church with your grandma and sister?”
His cheeks flushed further. “Well, uh, I mean, yes, ma’am. But I don’t really want to. Especially with that new priest. I’m not a god-worshipping man, and attending church is a god-worshipping activity,” he explained.
My eyebrows raised. “Well ain’t that something special. I ain’t ever met a man who isn’t god-worshipping or god-fearin’. You’re something special, Arvin Russell. Something special indeed.”
An impish smile stretched across his face. “I take it you’re not much of a godly woman yourself.”
“Can you tell?” I laughed. “Well… Ain’t that your sister coming out of the front? I’ve noticed that you drive her home every day.”
He perked up and peered over his shoulder. He stumbled to his feet, and I mimicked his movements, grabbing his upper arm. The plush cotton shirt was soft under my skin and his aged overalls suited him well. He turned back to me, staring at my hand.
“I didn’t realize you… noticed me,” he stuttered. “I really have to go now. There’s some nasty men out there that go around hurting my baby sister —“
“I know, I know. But before ya go… Are ya busy tonight?”
He gave me a peculiar stare. “Well - no, most people wouldn’t be.”
“Great!” I interrupted. “That means you can join me tonight. Meet me in the forest tonight. I’ll show you how to really live life to the fullest, Arvin Russell. You’re something special.”
“Where?”
“You go to the church. Go through the grave yard to your immediate left. Once you come across my pa’s grave, F/n L/n, go right into the forest there. Got it?”
“Y - yes, ma’am.”
“You’re a polite boy, Arvin Russell. Now, go take care of your baby sister.” He began pulling away, but as he did so, I grabbed his jaw and turned his head, placing a kiss on his soft cheek. He was absolutely stunned, and I swore that I’ve never made a man redder in my life.
I pulled away, sending him one last grin. I crossed my arm ad sent him a flirtatious wave. His jaw dropped and he nodded and waved, but he took off like the wind. My gaze followed him as he went to a red car. His sister, who had apparently seen the scene, was giggling and teasing the boy viciously.
I had never seen a man drive off faster than he did.
When he’d left, my excitement died. I returned to my sitting position. And I continued to wait for my mother. She always put off picking me up because she hated me. She’d never said it to my face, but… it was clear. She said that ‘it slipped her mind.’ But I knew better.
So, I waited.
~~~
I skidded down the base of the tree and hopped onto the ground. The grass and shrubbery crunched under my bare feet. My shoes had been abandoned by my father’s grave, where I kept my belongings while I went wild. It was habit.
In the distance, I recognized Arvin’s red car’s headlights pulling up to the church. The car stopped and the man stepped out. As soon as the headlights went out, a small speck turned on. Arvin had clearly brought a flashlight with him. Silly boy.
His pace was quick as he dashed across the graveyard. He was quite clumsy, tripping over plots of land on occasion. The flashlight jostled in his grasp as he approached.
Suddenly, the flashlight was on me. His pace slowed. There had been a previous panic to his movements, as though he expected me to make a fool out of him by not showing up at all. I shielded my eyes from the light boring onto me. He stopped in front of me, finally realizing to pull the flashlight away.
“Hello there,” I silkily greeted, sending him a reassuring smile.
I was wearing loose clothes; a skirt with no leggings underneath - my mother would have a hissy fit if she found out -, men’s boots which I had stolen from the previous priest, and my father’s old suit shirt, which was dirty and thin from usage. I crossed my arms and leaned toward him as he stumbled over his own greeting.
“Hello there, ma’am.”
“As cute as you are, Arvin Russell, it’s Y/n L/n to you. We’re friends, aren’t we? No need for such politeness,” I giggled.
“Yes, m - Y/n.” He shifted his weight. “So what are we doing here?”
I snatched the flashlight from him and turned it off, letting us use only the moonlight as our guide. “I’m goin’ to show you how to really live,” I started. “All you folk who stay inside all day unless you’re working… you aren’t really appreciating nature like you should. I’m going to show you what it’s like to live without societal pressures.” My fingers ghosted over his wrist. “No rules.” I grabbed his wrist. “You’re completely free, boy.”
Even in the darkness, I could tell he was blushing from how he tensed under my hold. I dropped the flashlight by the base of the tree. “Wait, we can’t see —“
“Yes we can,” I insisted. “The moon and her stars are out.”
Before he could reply, I took off, pulling him with me. I maneuvered around dense trees. He let out a shout of shock. I recognized his reluctance and let go. But I still ran. I ran like the wind.
“Hey, wait!” he called after me.
I finally heard his footsteps thudding to follow. I let out a laugh as I weaved around another oak. I knew the woods like the back of my hand. I knew where I was going, and Arvin Russell knew I was going somewhere.
I heard him laugh, too, as he panted to keep up. The forest was silent and asleep except for out footsteps as the forest expanded. I knew where I was going. And I couldn’t wait to show Arvin.
His footsteps were right behind me, and I heard him gasp out a plea to slow down. His fingers wrapped around my arm. I laughed and suddenly swerved to him, recognizing the puddle of mud beneath us. His chest collided with me and I burst into giggles as we tumbled to the grassy terrain.
I let out an ‘oof’ as his weight rested against me. He immediately scrambled to remove himself from me. He was still panicked, and I couldn’t have that. Instead, I pushed his right arm and pushed him to the muddy ground. Mud splashed on his overall person and me as I straddled him. I grabbed his shoulders and leaned over him.
For a moment, I wondered if I was making a mistake by inviting him. But when the moonlight illuminated his exhausted features and I saw that twinkle in his eyes, I knew I did not.
He burst out into laughter, playfully pushing at my arm. “You’re batshit crazy, woman! Why, I’ve never met someone like you and I never well! Why, hell…”
I leaned closer to his face. His eyes crinkled out of joy and he turned his head, spitting out some mud-filled saliva. A smile graced his handsome features and I pressed a bold kiss to his forehead. “Damn right you won’t ever meet another person like me. I’m as real as they get, Arvin Russell. You should feel honored that you’re here, covered head to toe in mother nature’s shit.”
He snickered. All of his demureness had washed away. His hand reached up and he slipped a strand of hair behind my ear. I hummed and leaned into his hair. When he pulled away, I did the same, combing his soft brown locks out of his face.
“Nature’s shit,” he repeated. “Never gonna see mud the same again.”
“Good. That’s exactly what I wanted. After tonight, tomorrow… After you’ve met me, you ain’t her gonna see the world the same again. You got it, Arvin Russell?”
“Yes, ma’am,” he hummed. “And I hope I never do.”
I swooped my head closer. A silence fell over us and all that indicated we were even here was our labored pants. I noticed his gaze sweeping across my face and he was staring at my lips with a hunger. As tempting as it was to kiss the handsome boy, he had to earn his keep once and for all. He had to earn his worth.
I suddenly pulled away and rolled off him. Arvin propped himself up on his elbows. “Where are we, anyways?” he inquired as I offered him a hand and pulled him to his feet. He dusted off the larger mud clots on his pants off, and they splattered on the ground.
I tilted my head. “Wouldn’t you like to know, handsome? I’ll have you know, I know these woods like the back of my hand. So don’t you worry for even a second that I don’t know the path.” I pursed my lips, observing both of our filthy attire. “Now, we’re covered head to toe in mother nature’s shit, and I intend to do something about it. Come along, Arvin Russell. We’ll get cleaned up right away.”
I grabbed his wrist and began pulling him along. He laughed again, much more at ease. He tugged at his arm so that my hand fell into his. He interweaved our fingers, squeezing tightly. “Do ya live around here?”
“No. We’re solving this issue the old-fashioned way. Or, at least, my way,” I answered, rubbing my thumb over his callous hand.
We held hands, walking side by side. Ahead was a clearing that led to the river. The rushing water sang. It was oh-so very tempting. I pulled him into the clearing and down to the dirt edge. He suddenly pulled his hand away. “Wait, isn’t it freezing?”
“What, are ya scared, Arvin Russell?” I said, turning to face him as I backed into the rushing water.
“Well, no —“
“Then get the hell in here, ya pussy!” I exclaimed cheerfully as I stepped ankle-deep into the water. Out of habit, I felt the world floating above me and I fell back. I splashed, the world enveloping me completely. I let the water hug my entire body, only my fingers and toes above water. I closed my arms and smiled as the mud drifted from my clothes.
Although it was muffled, I heard more splashes as Arvin entered the river as well. My body began drifting and I finally started floating down the stream. I finally emerged, floating on my back as I tried to plant my feet on the ground. I let out a gasp as my foot slipped, but Arvin grabbed my arm, pulling me to his chest.
I planted my arms around his waist and met his panicked, nervous expression. He still had yet to submerge his upper chest and face, so as we gazed into one another’s eyes, a mischievous idea crossed my mind. His eyes widened at my smirk, as though he immediately detected that I was thinking something.
“Why are ya looking at me like that, Y/n?”
I stroked his cheek. “Well… You may be no god-worshipper, but you still show up, don’t ya? I’m thinking. You’ve been baptized in the name of god. But I think, to truly initiate you into this one-person club of mine, I need to baptize you in the name of yourself. Of nature. Of the flow energy around us,” I remarked in anticipation.
His cheeks reddened. “Are you serious?”
“Never been more so.”
I pushed at his chest and stepped away. I replaced my hand on the small this back, holding him at a side-angle. He didn’t think anything of it, succumbing to my madness. His knees buckled enough so that only his head was above water.
“In the name of me and you and mother nature’s holy ghost, I bless you with a lifetime of freedom and joy and beauty. A lifetime where you flourish in a way that nobody else ever will. You, Arvin Russell, will blossom into a beautiful person with this gift. I bestow upon you the holy ghost of free spirit,” I improved loudly.
I paused for a moment before starting to pull his head and upper chest underwater. His eyes were closed. I held him there for a minute, admiring his handsomeness. His spirit. And then I pulled him up again.
His strong hand grabbed my arm and used my body to stand upright once more. That sparkle in his eyes had never been so prominent. We were chest to chest, the water rushing past our bodies. I held onto his shirt, as the pull was strong. But, in this moment, I knew.
“Arvin Russell, you’re something special. Something special indeed.”
He seemed bewitched. Enchanted. Our faces grew closer. And this time, I let the kiss happen. I led him into the kiss. He was sloppy and inexperienced; just how I liked it. He was so naive. So sweet. So innocent. And yet, there was that fire in him that I’ve been searching for my whole life.
Arvin Russell, you fascinated me.
I suddenly lost my footing. My body submerged in the water, and I pulled Arvin down with me. Water swarmed into my lungs, but I paid it no heed. The water began to pull our bodies down the stream. Both of us were completely submerged, but our eye contact remained.
He was panicked. Scared. But, as I gazed into his eyes, it all seemed to vanish. He was letting me lead him without question.
Our bodies washed up on the shore. Both of our bodies immediate reaction was to throw up the water. However, we both broke out into a fit of laughter. Him, laying on top of me, and me, breathless from his beauty. When we finally caught our breath, I broke my attention away from him, observing our surroundings.
We had washed upon shore. However, the river raged even louder; we were almost at the waterfall. The moon was our lamppost and our surroundings were oh-so clear. We were already soaked to the bone, so of course a certain something came to mind.
Arvin stumbled to his feet and helped me up. The smooth, light stones crunched under my bare feet. It felt like marbles massaging my toes. Arvin held my hand. There wasn’t an ounce of fear or regret in his eyes. He didn’t have to tell me. I already knew he was living.
“Where next?” he gasped, spitting out some more water.
I didn’t reply, pulling him along the shore bank. The roaring grew louder until we came face to face with waves crashing off a cliff. The terrain was jagged and rocky, having a natural wall built, only letting the water through. His eyes widened, as though connecting the dots.
I looked at him expectantly. “Care to voice your concerns?”
Surprisingly, he shook his head. “I trust you. You’re crazy, but god… you’re a genius.”
My heart skipped a beat and butterflies swarmed in my stomach. Not wanting to allow my thoughts to get all muddled, I jumped into the ravine. My feet wee planted against the dirt and rock floor. My legs were strong. Many a day I had jumped from the waterfall and plunged into nature’s tears below.
Arvin stood beside me. He grabbed my hand. He was nervous, but he trusted me. We stared over the edge, the water glimmering and reflecting the sky above. It was still, unmoving. The small lake below called to us like a mother to her newborn baby.
“One,” I counted, "two… three!”
Our feet lifted off the edge. The wind rebelled and fought against us, a fiery cushion against our faces. For a moment, the adrenaline left me paralyzed. But as I gained control of my body, I tightened my grip of Arvin’s hand and I pulled my knees to my chest. Arvin let out a terrified, guttural holler. A tribal escaped from my throat as well as the water grew nearer.
As we were about to collide, we shut our mouths and buried our heads in our chest. The water hurt for but a moment, but it was quickly soothed as our bodies sunk into the water. Our fingers almost drifted apart, but Arvin’s arm shot out and grabbed my wrist.
I let my legs disconnect from my stomach and I opened my eyes. The water was murky and dark. I began kicking my feet, and the moment my head emerged from the water, I pulled Arvin up with me. His head emerged and he panted heavily, the fear slowly escaping his expression. My heart thudded, pounded, in my chest. I swore that, if I didn’t have a rib cage, it would’ve jumped from my chest.
I rotated my body so that I could float on my back. Arvin mirrored my movements, floating beside me effortlessly. Peace and comfort washed over me as I stared at the star-lit sky. The waterfall echoed around us, waves crashing over the cliff. The moon twinkled in the sky, as though it was congratulating us on our bravery.
“That was…” he trailed off, kicking his foot.
“Yes, it was,” I finished. “But it’s only just begun, Arvin Russell. The first day of the rest of your life starts now.”
“If it’s with you, I can’t wait.”
Silence fell over us. Unanimously, we mustered the strength to swim to shore. When we walked out, the weight of the water dripping from my bodice weighed me down. I felt no anxiety as I unbuttoned my soaked shirt and let my skirt fall to the ground. At the same time, Arvin kicked off his boots and pulled off his shirt, revealing his toned chest.
It was tense, but in a good way. We plopped on the rocky ground and held hands. His hands were soft with wrinkles. I leaned my head on his firm shoulder. I often spent my days and nights like this; but never with someone else. Never with him. And that made all the difference.
We fell back on the grass.
“Do you… have places to be tomorrow?” he asked, finally breaking the silence.
“Never. This, here, with you, is my home.”
“Then… can we stay here the rest of the night?”
“Of course, Arvin Russell. ‘Was already planning on it, boy.”

Charleston Girl
Tumblr media
Dark!Arvin Russell x Reader
~Description~
You were the wealthy good girl from the “better” side of Knockemstiff, Ohio only that was so far from the truth. Arvin was never one to judge for you being a hidden troublemaker but he can’t help but want to straighten out a girl who doesn’t want to be handled.
~Warnings~
Rape/Non-con, Underage drinking, Smoking, Fingering, Forced Orgasm, semi-public sex
Tumblr media
“It’s so pretty on you,” you said as Lenora gave you a twirl. She was wearing a pretty pink tea-length dress. It was one of your own. You had so many from Momma, that you didn’t bother hanging this one up. It was in a box in your attic. You hadn’t thought of it until Lenora asked you about wearing something to the dance and what you would wear.
All you thought about was going to the dance with Lenora. You couldn’t care less about what you were going to wear. It’s always been that way. You and Lenora. You both were two peas in a pod. You were never seen without the other the day you found each other. It was in Kindergarten after Tommy Matson pushed quiet, good Lenora into the mud. He got a bad black eye and you got a new best friend. As you both grew up, you wrestled less with boys your age and found yourself under their sheets while Lenora became a godly goody two shoes. You kept up with the persona of the do-gooder for Momma of course. There was no way of talking your way out of one of Momma’s lectures.
So you tried your hardest to seem like that good rich girl from the “better side” of Knockemstiff, Ohio. Many people didn’t look past the facade. You played it up so well going to church, never staying out late, never drinking or smoking. Little did everyone know you were doing more than they even realized. No one saw past it. Well, mostly everyone didn’t except for Arvin Russel. You didn’t know Lenora’s cousin that well even when you were at their house most of the time. He never talked much to you only gruff hellos and a few forced waves.
He knew what you were plain as day but he never spoke on it. Never called you out for your sinful ways when you and Momma were over and Emma was going on about how much of a good girl you are, when you would laugh and giggle next to Lenora during prayer, or when you would lie to the boys you flirted with about being a virgin.
Arvin never even batted an eye. That was until you found yourself being flirted with by Tommy Matson. He was just a dalliance in your eyes. He didn’t mean much to you plus it wasn’t like you were actually planning on sleeping with him but to Arvin…
Arvin acted as if you sold yourself to the devil.
He treated you so coldly after he saw you with Tommy one day. You had been kissing something you always did. Tommy got too handsy when you finally called it off. You rolled your eyes when he cursed about you being a tease and how Susie already went to third base with him. You spit the taste of him out and wiped your mouth.
“Not all of us are easy like Susie Cox…” you snarled.
He rolled his eyes before spitting, “I was told you were easier than Susie Cox.”
You cursed at him before shoving him away only to find Arvin looking in your direction with a hard glare. You stared back not knowing whether to give him a hard glare too. You chose to leave. Tommy was being a total drag anyway.
“Good luck findin’ a way home,” Tommy said as you walked off. You couldn’t stop the middle finger that raised from you as you walked away with your arms crossed over your chest.
You made your way down the road to your house. It wasn’t far from where you were now. So the walk wouldn't be anyways. You were by yourself for what seemed like ten minutes before hearing the sound of a car slow down next to you. You ignored it, thinking it was Tommy until a sound came from inside of the car. A sound from a voice you didn't want to hear right now.
You stopped dead in your tracks and sighed, “Arvin…”
You didn’t want to see him, especially not after your make-out succession with Tommy Matson. To be honest you would rather have him be Tommy than Arvin.
“Get in,” he bit out.
You hesitated a bit. You could tell he was upset and you could figure out a good and well enough reason as to why. He opened the door to his truck and you hurried in. It was quiet, so quiet it had you listening to the wind from outside the car for comfort. You wanted him to say something instead of this awkward silence that had your insides ripping themselves out.
Finally, you couldn’t bear it any longer and said something.
“Don’t tell Momma,” you whispered as you stared out into the road.
You didn’t know why you said it because it wasn’t like he would’ve. He never did and yet… you had this overwhelming feeling that today might’ve been different, You could hear his grip tighten on the wheel ever so slightly at the plea.
“And if I do?” He quietly asked. That caused you to finally look at him. You blinked in his direction, and he kept his eyes straight on the road.
“She’ll kill me.”
“Is that such a bad thing?” he grunted as he pulled into your driveway. You stared at him as he finally turned his attention to you. His frown and hardened eyes stared right back at you.
You swallowed, “Please… don’t tell Momma.”
He stared at you for what seemed like a long time before he eventually tilted his head, with a small nod. You thanked him for the ride and then that was it. You both never talked about it again nor was there even a reason to. To find your cousin’s best friend making out with a guy who bullied them both would have anyone shaking their heads at the sight. To this day you still don’t really know why you agreed to it in the first place. You supposed it was you were just bored and Tommy was the only one near that had anything interesting about him.
You shook your head as Lenora pulled you up from the flowery bed.
“Your turn,” she said with a smile, “You need a pretty dress too.”
Lenora shuffled through the old boxes of dresses. It could’ve been decades worth of dresses. Momma had a keen eye for style. Lenora pulled out a pale blue dress you’ve never seen before. You smiled at it when Lenora held it up to you in the mirror.
“Gorgeous.”
You stared at it for a bit before Lenora spoke up again, “Hurry and put in on.”
You nodded and went to your bathroom. When you got the dress on you noticed how much prettier it was. The ruffles needed to be puffed out more, but it was a beautiful dress. When you came out Lenora couldn’t stop smiling and complimenting you about how you looked in it. You giggled when she twirled you around her.
“Well don’t y’all look so pretty,” Momma said as you both smiled towards her.
“Don’t we?”
She started to walk closer but you found Arvin right behind her. Your smile faltered a bit at the sight of him. Momma smiled at him as she gestured to you and Lenora. Arvin cleared out his throat a bit before agreeing.
“Oh is it time to leave already?” Lenora asked.
Arvin nodded as he stared at you both, mainly you. You didn’t know how you felt about the look he gave you. It was a soft gaze, softer than the day he saw you with Tommy Matson that’s for sure. You turned and grabbed Lenora’s hand trying to ignore Arvin’s eyes, “Let's go pick up your things, hm?”
Lenora nodded and followed you back to your room. You helped pack the rest of her things and sent Lenora on her way with Arvin, who still looked at you with a strange look you couldn’t pinpoint.
. . .
You held the bottle to your lips chugging down the burning whiskey quickly you knew that if you didn’t it would all come bubbling up.
“Slow down, sugar. What’s the rush?” the blonde boy slurred with a chuckle he was way drunker than you by a tenfold. Time and time again he always told you that he could hold his liquor and time and time again you always proved him wrong.
You rolled your eyes and pushed him away when his hands started to palm at your thighs. It wasn’t the first time Ricky tried to pull something like this. You could usually forgive it because he would cry about how sorry he was the next day. You huffed and closed your eyes, drinking the last bit of the whiskey before throwing it down. You could feel your body warming up finally after an hour or so sitting there for what felt like forever with this boy.
“Ricky, if I wanted to fuck something I wouldn’t have called you.” You said so bluntly it had him frowning and leaning forward.
“Sorry,” he mumbled and crossed his arms over his chest.
“It’s okay,” you sighed. You pulled out a cigarette one you stole from Momma, it was one you knew she wouldn’t be missing. You lit it up and took a small drag from it. “I’m gettin’ tired.” You tried to do a convincing yawn. It worked since Ricky was too drunk to notice how fake it was.
“I'm going to start headin’ home, Rick.”
“This late? It’s dark out...”
“I’ll be fine I'm just down the road from you,” you stated as you pulled your cardigan around you. You gave him a wave and left. The real reason why you left was you couldn’t stand having to take care of boys when they were drunk. It reminded you too much of your father.
You got far away enough to where you could only hear the sound of the wind blowing through you. You kicked a few rocks and missed causing you to slip and fall on your side. You could barely feel the scrape on the side of your arm courtesy of the alcohol Ricky supplied you. You laughed at yourself mostly because you magically saved your cig. You took a long drag and inhaled deeply. You picked yourself back up a task that now seemed a lot more difficult than normal. You swayed a bit and tried to keep yourself upright. You could make it to your house: just another mile or two to go. You continued on your merry way, taking one last hit of your cig before throwing it down and stomping on it.
By then you didn’t notice the sound of a car slowing down by you. You would’ve broken out in a run, that was if you could run. Thankfully it wasn’t a cop but the sight that was held before you had you cursing underneath your breath.
Arvin stared at you for what seemed like a long time before he huffed and opened the passenger seat door. You would’ve ignored it and kept walking if your whole body didn’t feel like you were carrying bags of sand. You made your way in, closed the door, and leaned your head against the window. You knew you probably smelled like a cheap liquor store, so Arvin could easily guess what you had been doing.
It was quiet for a minute, you could tell he wasn’t as upset as when you found you and Tommy but he was disappointed. The car slowed back down a bit and pulled into an area with a lot of brush.
“I don’t get why Lenora associates with you…” he calmly said as he put the car in park. “You two are so different.”
You huffed and stared at the window. You weren’t going to get lectured by a boy, especially Arvin Russel.
“How are we so different?” You chuckled as you stared out into the dense forest. You turned your head to find Arvin looking directly at you his eyes were unnerving you a bit. You can tell he mumbled something but you couldn’t make it out, you were a bit too drunk. You thought you could hold your liquor, not tonight.
You didn’t understand what happened at first. You found his lips on yours and his arms around your waist. It was all too quick for your drunk mind to comprehend.
“Ar- Arvin,” You mumbled into his lips.
He shallowed your pleas instantly with his tongue as he forced it into your mouth. You usually didn’t like it when boys would try to take control and it was no different now. You tried your best to fight him off but your slaps were weak while he was tasting your mouth. You moaned into him when he pressed a spot on your thighs it had you trying to close them but Arvin only pushed them wider. You could finally breathe again when he pulled his mouth off of you but instead opted to kiss your jaw and the side of your neck. You could feel his fingers on your underwear. They slowly rubbed up and down and you could feel the pair becoming wet.
“You’re fucking drippin’ is that all for me?” he sighed as he pulled your underwear to the side and stared at it. Never in your experience has a boy even taken a peak. All the other times it was dark with you usually on top. It made you feel uncomfortable to have him this close. To have him staring at an intimate spot. To have him be the one that was overpowering you. It made you feel small, and you didn’t like the feeling of not being in control. He entered with a finger slowly bringing it out and in before adding another one.
“Arvin please,” you gasped when he curled his fingers in a way that had you tensing. You pulled at his wrist until you felt his fingers go a bit faster.
“Say that again,” he leaned over your body and whispered in your ear. “Say please and say my name again.”
“P- please, Arvin.”
Arvin kissed your lips as soon as those words left your mouth. His fingers didn’t stop nor slow once. Back and forth back and forth while you were squirming and moaning beneath him. Your hips met up with his hand every time causing his other hand to hold over your stomach to make you stay still. You cried out when his thumb started to rub at your clit. It was all too much for you, you were too weak, too intoxicated to get him off of you. It got to the point where he had you whining out for him. Begging him pleading for him to let you come. He smiled a devilish smile that had you furrowing your eyebrows, kissed your cheek, and nodded. You saw white and grabbed onto his hand that was holding you down. You moaned so loudly you swore that the woods were still echoing the sound that left your lips. Your body was too hot and paralyzed to even move. You breathed deeply as he fixed up your underwear and smoothed over your skirt. He stuck his fingers in his mouth tasting you while he stared at you. He stared at you while he did it. You could’ve slapped him if you weren’t too out of it to say something.
“Let's get you home, hmm?” he said a bit out of breath too.
You nodded and tried to pick yourself back up to a comfortable position. You both were deathly silent in the truck. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of your breathing. When he finally pulled into your driveway you thanked him and went on your way. You didn’t turn back as you went inside of your house and you didn’t hear him pull out until you closed the door.
. . .
“Y’all look like princesses,” Momma said as she fluffed up your dress and then did the same for Lenora.
Emma smiled as she watched you both from the dining room chair.
“Arvin is drivin’ y’all to the dance, right?” Emma asked as she got up and leaned against the archway.
“Yeah,” Lenora said happily.
You could’ve broken something right then and there.
“Arvin?” you said lowly and Lenora nodded in a smile. She didn’t notice how upset you were but Momma did.
“Don’t worry I am sure other people are going to be comin’ up in trucks too,” she giggled as she fixed your hair again.
You weren’t worried about that yet you played along. You sighed at Momma and Emma picked up your guys’s shoes. You didn’t want to go out of your house all of a sudden. You didn’t want to go and see him. You haven’t seen him in over a month. You didn’t know how you managed not seeing him considering he was basically Lenora’s brother. Yet you did, you hid away. You haven’t been out drinking since that night which made some of your “other” friends upset. You couldn’t give them the real answer as to why so you opted to just say you were grounded.
Lenora held your hand and guided you outside. Momma and Emma followed behind, smiling as soon as Arvin’s truck was in their line of sight.
“Be good girls,” Emma said as you and Lenora jumped into Arvin’s truck. You both gave them a quick wave and went on your way.
The car wasn’t silent but it wasn’t very talkative either. Lenora seemed to notice the complete energy shift and she was hesitant to start the conversation. Somehow she did. She and Arvin did some small talk. Now and then she invited you to a conversation. You would reply with one-word answers. Finally, you made it to the dance you knew that some people were already tipsy before even walking in just from the way they walked.
As soon as you and Lenora walked out of Arvin’s truck she checked on you. She whispered when she asked if you were alright. You only nodded. You didn’t want to be near Arvin for a moment more. She accepted it and walked you to the door. You glance to your right to see Tommy smile at you with a brown paper bag he isn’t careful hiding.
“You go on in, I'll meet you inside, okay?” You said and Lenora looked between you and Tommy. She didn’t look pleased but she didn’t say anything. She nodded and walked in.
You felt bad and you knew that what you were doing was bad. What you were about to do was impulsive but you couldn’t stop yourself as you walked towards Tommy. His little gang wasn’t there with him, it was just him with a bottle.
“I knew you couldn’t hold up on a good time forever,” he said.
You frowned and took the bottle from his hand. You downed whatever it was easily. It was sweet and burned the back of your throat. It was a pleasant burn, one that made you feel a bit better about leaving Lenora. You leaned against Tommy’s car, never noticing how he only stared at you.
“You look beautiful tonight…”
“I’m sure Susie would agree too,” you quietly said as you sipped the bottle.
“You’re still mad at that?”
“You said that I was easier than Susie Cox. Who wouldn’t be mad at that,” you quipped.
He stared at your lips then your eyes and only smiled. His hand touched your cheek, smoothing out your jawline and then finally holding it.
“You know I don’t believe that…” he whispered as he moved his face towards your lips.
You let him kiss you and you smiled. He was an idiot and a bully but you still let him kiss you. You couldn’t fully get why you did. You closed your eyes as you let him fully relax onto you. His hands started to make their way down to your neck then your back. It was calming, you felt calm as he held you. That was until you felt air circulate you, and Tommy was on the ground with Arvin on top of him hitting him repeatedly. You gasped as you stared at them. You couldn’t even scream from how stunned you were at the sight.
“Stop, Stop it! Arvin quit!” You yelled at him and pulled at him but you couldn’t get him off of Tommy. “Please, Arvin please stop.”
You could feel tears in your eyes. You know once you started crying you couldn’t stop. He only stopped when blood started pouring from Tommy’s nose. You yelped at the sight of his face. The whimpering sounds of the younger man were startling to hear. You couldn’t quell it though as you were being pulled away.
You were farther away from the dance from Tommy’s bloody face. You cried when Arvin shoved you against his truck, “Why did you do that?”
“How could you willingly give yourself to that boy?”
You didn’t know why he asked that or why he even thought it was any of his business.
“You’re not my dad. I shouldn’t have to tell you why I do the things I do and it shouldn’t bother you.”
“I don’t think you understand…” he quietly said as he took your hair in his hands. You screeched when he pulled your head back. He quickly covered your mouth. The searing pain of your hair being ripped and pulled back had you sobbing. You could barely look at Arvin from how blurry it all was.
“From the moment I touched you I claimed you. You don’t get to whore yourself around anymore. Not with me around to stop it.” His sharp words made you quiver against him. “Unless you want me to go to your mother and tell her all the sinful things I’ve watched you do.”
You shook your head whimpering at how tight his hands were around your hair.
“Are you going to be good from now on?” He asked and you nodded your head. His lips curved up at that. “Turn around, hold your dress up, and bend over against the truck.”
You paused for a moment before finally doing what he ordered. You knew crying wasn’t going to get you out of this but you couldn’t stop the tears that traveled down your face. You held up your dress and you bent over the side of his truck. He held your hips tightly and pulled you back so your ass could fully be seen by him. He slapped it harshly once and then again and again. You could barely hold yourself in the position from how bad his slaps burned into your skin. When he was done he pulled down your underwear and stuffed his fingers inside you.
“Soakin’ my fingers,” he whispered in your ear. You tensed at that. Your nails felt like they were going to snap as you gripped his truck for support.
You heard the sound of his zipper going down and the ruffling of clothing. If you could make yourself run right now you would’ve been you couldn’t wield yourself to move. Not even an inch. You gasped when you felt his head push into you. It was going to be a tight fit and you didn’t know if you could handle it. He was so thick that you could feel every vein and inch of him. You whimpered when he finally was flushed against you.
“That’s my good girl,” he said as he smoothed over your ass.
His touch was soft against you like he was saying sorry for slapping you but his thrusts were deep and rough. He was sending a message through them through each powerful thrust. You moaned at the feel of him and when he pulled you close to him, your back was to his chest.
“You’re mine now,” he grunted. “No one else gets to use this anymore. Just me, only me.”
You nodded as he fucked you against his truck. You squeezed your eyes shut when he hit a spot within you that had you cursing his name. He held his hand over your mouth and with one final thrust had you seeing stars. You came all over him. He didn’t stop only going in harder than before. You didn’t think he would come inside you not until he whispered breathily about how you were milking him dry. You mumbled under his hand trying to plead with him. But he only chuckled and held his other hand to your stomach. His finger slipped onto your clit rubbing it over and over again.
You didn’t know you had another in you until you were coming around him a second time. This time it sent him off the edge too. You sobbed when he held himself there planting himself deep inside you. When he pulled out you cringed at the feel of his come dripping down your thighs. No boy has ever came inside you there was no possible way you would ever risk getting pregnant. Yet Arvin did it. Without your permission. You wanted to hit him, to curse at him but you couldn’t even move. Arvin pushed some of his come back into you and pulled your underwear back up.
“Now go inside and give Lenora a good time.”
You nodded quietly doing what he told you to do. You could barely walk but somehow you made it to Lenora. She could tell something happened to you but to be honest you were too out of it to even notice. Just grabbed her and danced. Here on the floor, you could forget about Arvin and your newfound terrifying relationship with him.

I DIDN'T LOVE HIM AS I SHOULD | Arvin Russell x reader
Tumblr media
Description: You had been in love with Arvin for five years. Why did he wait until you were engaged to confess his feelings for you?
Length: 4.6k+
Trigger Warnings: Mentions of Lenora's su*cide, mention of Arvin's troubled childhood, foul language, death, mention of dead rabbit, brief light smut.
main masterlist
Note: I rewatched little women last night and I love everything about amy and laurie (guilty pleasure oops) and seeing as it was tom’s birthday yesterday I thought I’d write this little thing. Had to include Lenora bcus Eliza Scanlon my queen.
Tumblr media
Arvin Russell was many things. Grumpy. Protective. Fiercely loving over the people he held dear. Chain smoker (despite how many cigarettes you’d smacked out of his hand only for him to pull another out with a kiss of his teeth). Loyal. Hot headed as hell. Hilariously dry-witted when he wanted to be. An amazing brother and grandson for one and your best friend for another.
But above all, Arvin Russell was fucking clueless.
You had liked the boy since the day you met him when your friend Lenora dragged her adoptive step-brother to church with her not five years before. Arvin had been living with them for some time then, a boy of fifteen years, but hadn’t been convinced to attend Sunday prayer until then. Lenora said he threw a fit about it the morning before but went anyway, after hours of her begging him to keep the two of you company.
After that, you saw him everywhere.
He was taking you and Nora to the cinema in town, he was helping you carry groceries, he was helping you with homework, he was cycling to yours with Nora on the front of his bike, asking if you wanted to come play in the lake down the street from your house. He was everywhere.
He was in your head all the time too.
It was really very easy to fall in love with Arvin Russell, and yet he had the hardest time figuring it out it seemed.
You didn’t know exactly what had done it. You remembered one time during your lake excursions, the three of you spent all afternoon building a rope swing on one of the overhanging branches using a burst tyre from the Russell’s car. It worked well. Arvin went first, swearing as he hit the freezing cold water and resurfaced, spitting out the filthy water that had entered his mouth mid-curse. Nora was next, she was much more graceful, swinging backwards and forwards a few times before she jumped, landing in the water with a squeal of joy.
Then came you. You felt your hands start shaking as you reached for the rope - had it always been this high? It looked so fun when they had done it and now it was your turn, you felt like sitting this one out. The rocks banking the tree that held the rope suddenly seemed much more jagged and lethal than they had before.
“Come on, doll! Water’s lovely and warm,” Arvin yelled, treading water near where he’d plummeted into the lake. The weather had been one of the hottest summer’s Knockemstiff had ever seen so you didn’t doubt him. You put one foot in the middle of the tyre and  kept the other safely on land, but even that seemed like too far of a step so you retreated.
“C’mon, Y/N!” Nora yelled as you frantically shook you’re head, laughing nervously.
“No! I’m not doing it, I’m scared!” You confessed back, though you chuckled all the same. This wasn’t some perilous task, not a matter of life or death, so you still found the humour in it but your nerves were shaken nonetheless.
“Do it!” Arvin called, shaking his hair out, “You got this doll, come on!”
“Hurry up, this water’s disgusting!” Nora added, screaming when Arvin chuckled devilishly and splashed her in the face with a wave of the stagnant lake. “Arvin!”
“Tell you what, darlin’” the brunet boy called up to you, “You get in now and I’ll give you a kiss as a reward,” Being the fourteen-year-old girl you were, and Lenora being only ten at the time, you both grimaced.
“Ewww!” You chorused, laughing at the way the boy’s face dropped.
“We’re trying to get her in the water, Arvin, not send her running home,” Lenora quipped, and you laughed loudly. Nora was known for being the quiet one of your trio, which meant when she had something slightly sassy up her sleeve, it had you in stitches.
Arvin scoffed, though he had a smirk perched on his lips, “You’ve got some mouth on you today, missy,” He said splashing her with the water again. She screamed and copied his actions though her hands were much smaller and sent mere droplets his way, and their roars of glee met your ears. That really did look fun, you pined to yourself.
“Alright, alright!” You said, putting your foot back in the tyre and leaning back for extra grip. “Pucker up, buttercup.”
With that you took a deep breath, squealing with nerves and jumped. As soon as your second foot left the ground, you swung forward, trying not to think too much as you released when the rope reached its peak. You plunged into the water after a moment of what felt almost like flying, and for a split second everything was silent. The water muted the sounds of the outdoors, and you just let yourself still under the water.
Did Arvin really just offer to kiss you? The thought rolled around your head. And suddenly you were imagining it, pressing yourself against him and taking his lips in your own gently. The oddest heat spread across your chest and, at the feeling, you didn’t find the thought of kissing your best friend so disgusting anymore. In fact, you found it intriguing. You found it tempting. You heard Arvin say something to you but it was muffled by the water. The burn of breathlessness tugged at your throat and you had to leave your daydream behind as you kicked your legs until you reached the surface, bursting through the water with a deep breath. Your hair gripped the back of your neck, and you rubbed your eyes to get the remnants of the water from clinging to your eyelashes.
“We were beginning to think you’d passed out on your way down.” Lenora joked, swimming towards the bank to pull herself out, “I bet I could do a flip!”
You cheered after her, treading the oddly clear water beneath you, and turning your attention to Arvin. He looked at you smugly, before leaning in and purposely puckering his lips out to you.
“Fuck off and keep dreaming, lover boy,” You said, shoving him away with a laugh, though your trail of thought hadn’t left you since you’d surfaced. Part of you only wished you’d taken his offer.
Four years later, that ‘odd heat’ in your chest was a full-blown forest fire that spread all over your body whenever you were in proximity of Arvin Russell. He only had to look at you with those soft, brown eyes and you were putty. He had only gotten better looking with time too. His arm muscles had bulged with all the manual work his Grandma asked him to do for her, his hair had gotten longer and curlier, he had a certain ruggedness to him that would make any nineteen-year-old boy into a heartthrob. It was really no surprise when he started meeting the other girls.
You had been best friends since you’d met. Though Lenora was your friend too, you saw her much like a sister to you than a best friend. You and Arvin would take last night drives together when she had bible study, or if she had homework to do seeing as you had now graduated. You would drive him places some days, and he would drive you others. You would talk to him about the grown-up shit you couldn't put on a fourteen-year-old, like your fear of never leaving Knockemstiff or the time you’d gotten close to confessing your feelings for him and told him you worried you’d never find anyone who could love you the way you wanted. He told you about his parents and how he was orphaned, and the dark thoughts he had because of how tragic his life had been, how some days he got so angry and frustrated at the world for doing that to him that he wanted to scream until he burst a vessel.
You were so heartbroken when he told you he’d lost his virginity.
It seemed so stupid, probably because in your own world you’d always hoped the two of you would make it and he’d suddenly take you in his arms during one of your many car rides and confess that “I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long. You’re the one for me. You always have been.” The daydream had lulled you to sleep through tears, begging the universe to give him to you. You didn’t deserve a boy as sweet as Arvin, no one did for that matter, but you cried and pleaded with anyone in the heavens listening to make him yours.
So it hit you like a gun shot to the chest when you got in his car one morning to see his face pulled into a gleeful grin.
“What’s gotten you so chirpy? You’re usually grumpy before your morning coffee.” You noted, fastening your seat belt as he set off towards the diner you spent every weekend in sharing a stack of pancakes.
“Nothing,” He said, but the smug undertone said otherwise.
You sighed, smiling at the boy, “Don’t make me ask again, Arvin. Clearly there’s something you wanna tell me.”
He wetted his lips with his tongue, and you swear you didn’t hear what he said as you focused on his mouth moving. His cherry lips parted with words that sounded muffled, the same way it had that day at the lake when you were submerged underwater, again with your head full of this boy. But your mind snapped into gear like an awful realisation as it made sense of what he said.
I had sex this morning.
“What?” You said, brows furrowed. The air left your lungs and you all but gawked at the boy infornt of you who hadn’t realised his mistake. There was no real mistake to realise, it wasn’t cheating but it hurt you as though it had been.
“I had sex this morning. Right where you’re sitting actually.” He laughed, knowing you’d probably find that gross but would commemorate him for the big step he’d taken. Instead, he found you staring at your shoes, hands folded into your lap looking disgusted with yourself.
He’d done it with someone else. He’d taken his clothes off. He’d taken her clothes off. He’d put it inside her. He’d made her moan his name. He’d had her, not you.
And the worst part was you had no grounds to be upset, yet your heart had been wrenched from your chest right there and then. The mental images were conjured up before you could stop them, and you had to bite the inside of your cheek to stop the tears from welling in your eyes. It was no use. You discreetly turned to look out the window as you heard him ask if you were okay. You nodded silently, brushing your cheek on your shoulder quickly and wiping your nose. He was expecting an answer. You felt his hand on your thigh trying to grab your attention, and all you could do was pull it away. His hands felt dirty now they had been on her.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just saw a dead rabbit on the road, is all.” You made up the excuse, clearing your throat and turning back to the boy with a very clearly wobbly smile on your face. “Well done, lover boy.”
You wished that could have been the only time your heart had broken because of Arvin, but it wasn’t. Girl after girl, week after week you were forced to sit in the exact seat they’d done it in. It made you feel sick to even look at his car now knowing your seat had become reserved for whichever girl it was that week. Soon, you simply had to accept the fact you weren’t Arvin’s special girl anymore.
Some days you thought back to the boy in the lake and you cursed yourself every fucking day for not kissing him. Atleast then you could have had a taste of heaven before the golden gates had slammed in your face.
You found something close to peace when you met Fred. He was good looking, ambitious to get out of Knockemstiff as you were, rich enough to get you there and he was nice to you. That was all you needed. You needed someone to fill the gap ripped into you by Arvin and the girls in his car. You liked Fred, you really really did. There were moments he’d make your heart flutter if he said something awfully sweet, or he’d make you laugh telling you a joke he’d made up with his friend’s that day. He was good, but your wretched mind would put it into your head that he wasn’t Arvin.
He just wasn’t the same, and no amount of jokes or sweet words could make him so.
But when you had been dating for almost a year, it came as no surprise when he proposed. The ring was lovely, the diamond huge and crystal clear clarity courtesy of his parents wealth no doubt. He looked at you with such hope, and for a moment you really could see a future with him. You’d never tell him that you were happy to settle for him, but that’s what you were. But it was with an amazing man who held such promise and treated you the way you’d always wished Arvin would.
He gave you what you wanted, and that was enough for you to say yes.
The second the ring was on your finger, he’d scooped you up in his arms and whispered that he had booked an engagement getaway for the two of you. Two months away, in a far off country where the sun was warm and where the cocktails would be sweet enough to take away from the taste of alcohol. It sounded wonderful, and you couldn’t wait to tell Arvin. He would be so happy for you, and two months without seeing him and solely focusing on your new fiancee would no down squash any last feelings you had for the boy.
You practically bounded over to his car when he pulled up outside Fred’s home. You had spent all day with him and Arvin agreed to drive you home on the way back from work seeing as he would have had to go past their house anyway. You pulled your new fiancee for a long kiss, hearing Arvin beeping his horn for you to hurry up. You laughed at the boy, as did Fred and you pulled away, not wanting to keep him waiting any longer.
“Sorry, got caught up.” You said, smiling as Fred waved the two of you off. Arvin gave him a brief raise of the hand back before his foot hit the accelerator. You smiled out the window, seeing Knockemstiff pass by for what would soon be the last time in a while. You’d miss your friend’s dearly, but you’d be coming back so it’s not as though you’d be seeing them for the last time ever. It would only be a few months.
“What, sucking some guy’s face off?” Arvin asked, only half-joking as he almost groaned at the thought.
“Like you’re one to talk. Which girl was it this week, Arv?” You teased, knocking against his elbow when he didn’t say anything.
“Didn’t have any girls this week actually.” He replied shortly, and you guessed work had been hard. Using his right hand to reach over and open his glove box he fondled around for a moment before grunting. “Can you get my cigarettes please, doll?”
You snorted a laugh, sticking your own hand into the compartment and quickly finding the smokes. You pulled them out and handed him the red packet, completely forgetting about the new amenity on your finger. “What wrong? Can’t get it up?”
“Yeah, real funny. Actually I-” Arvin was in the middle of grumbling when his eyes narrowed in on the diamond. “What the fuck is that?”
You almost reeled back at his tone, though you put it down to surprise. You had to admit, married at eighteen was ballsy and not something you would do but Fred was the best guy you’d ever find actually willing to spend his life with you. It's not like Arvin had shown any interest let alone offer first.
“What does it look like, stupid? I was going to tell you when you stopped the car.” You replied, pulling your hand back to inspect the ring with a smile. It really was gorgeous.
“How- When?” Arvin asked, bewildered. His eyes were so wide you were sure they were going to pop out of the sockets, and his lips lacked the smile that was plastered on your own.
“Last night. He took me out to dinner on that fancy place uptown. He said he was going to hide it in the desert but decided it was too nice to get crumbs and frosting over, can you believe that?” You said with a light laugh, frowning when you heard silence back. You turned your head to see the boy clenching the steering wheel with white knuckles, a face looking forlorn. He had never seemed so much like a little boy as when you looked at him them, as though he looked lost and confused waiting for someone to tell him what to say. “Arv, you okay?”
Something about your engagement must have pissed him off, seeing as he had seemed alright until the huge rock had made its way into his periphery. He grumbled a response, something half hum that you couldn’t tell was a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’, and carried on driving. You felt your smile slip away almost instantly, and your lips pulled down into a pout as you couldn’t deny your feelings had been hurt that he was being so rude.
“I would have thought you’d have been happy for me,” You said quietly after a few minutes of silence. It was clear he didn’t approve of this, whether it was cause he was just so different to Fred and found him a little uptight at times you couldn’t be certain, but he was your best friend at the end of the day. You would have guessed he’d at least wear his disappointment better. “I was going to ask you to be a groomsman,”
Arvin scoffed, and you frowned even further. His noise of disappointment left a bitter taste in your mouth and you decided you’d had enough of trying to appease his bad mood and stayed quiet.
The drive was silent for the next few minutes until he pulled up outside your house. You instantly leapt up out of your seat, swinging the door shut on the boy with the foul mood and not even bothering to say goodbye. Perhaps he could spend the next few months, while you were on holiday with your fiancee, thinking his attitude over. You got all but halfway up the steps to your home before another car door was shut and your name was called.
Spinning back on your heel, you watched Arvin walking towards you with a stone-cold serious look on his face, though he was wringing his hands the way he did when he was nervous.
“Doll, please…” He trailed off, coming to stand on the path in front of you. You moved back down the few stairs you had ascended, and stood before of him, though the raise of your eyebrow told him he was walking on a thin line. “Don’t marry him.”
You pulled back in shock. What had he just said?
“What?” Your voice was small, confused. There was no way he was seriously asking this of you.
“Don’t marry him.” He repeated. You frowned at him, watching his soft brown eyes lower in sadness.
“Why?” You asked coldly. This was your chance of happiness, your chance to get over Arvin once and for all and even then he was standing in the way of it. The guilty look on his face told you everything you needed to know, and he reached out to take your none ring-bearing hand in his. He took a deep breath as if preparing himself for confession, but he was stopped when your empty laugh caught him off guard. “You have some fucking nerve, Arvin.”
He looked even more guilty than before as you drew your hand away from his. You felt the tears lacing your eyes, how could he do this to you now. How could he stand here about to confess that he liked you, that he wanted you, when you had been waiting too damn long for those words. “I’m sor-”
“You’re so fucking mean, Arvin. You know that?” You said, as the first tear broke the surface and trailed down your face. “All those girls I had to watch you with, all those times I’d get into your car and you’d have just dropped them home from a quick fuck-”
“I was trying to forget you-” He tried to excuse but you only scoffed. He hated seeing you so furious, so sad because of him, and he only wanted to wipe the falling tears away like he always would do. He wasn’t lying. That had been the reason for all those girls coming back to his car. In fact, he always specified that they would do it in that seat, your seat, because in some twisted way Arvin could pretend it was you that he was kissing, you that he was touching in those places. You had descended into full-blown crying, but your voice was surprisingly steady.
“I don’t believe you, Arvin. I will not be the girl you fall back because you can’t get any others to fuck you this week. I won’t be the girl you have as your second choice because Cindy or Sarah or any of those other girls don’t want you around right now, do you hear?” You said, ready turn back and storm up to your front door. You let a silent sob pass through your lips as you looked at him one last time for what would be months seeing as your flight was in the next few weeks and you doubted either of you would want to see each other. He looked sad, like a kicked puppy being scolded by its master. “I won’t be the girl you run to now, not when I’ve spent my life stuck in love with you, Arvin.” With that, you left, not wanting to hear a single word that he had to say.
---------
You couldn’t believe it when you heard. Nora, your sweet Lenora. The girl who had stood next to you and sang hymns and read prayers, the girl who you drove to school, the girl who had screamed and cried to you when she’d gotten her first period. That Lenora was gone.
You had spent all week bawling your eyes out, refusing to believe what your mother had told you was true. Fred tried to cheer you up by reminding you your engagement getaway was due in a few days, but you couldn’t think of anything worse than going on holiday now. And then, as the uncertainty of the trip came along, doubts of the marriage came with it as they had since the beginning. You knew you were being selfish by marrying Fred. He deserved a woman who would love him completely, undoubtedly, not one using him to get over someone else. Ofcourse you loved him, but it felt much more like friends between the two of you. Even when you kissed it felt awkward to you, there was no spark, no butterflies, no wildfire like there was when Arvin so much as looked at you.
You knew what you had to do. It would be hard, and you would feel guilty but you knew what was right.
That was how you found your way back to Arvin. It was surprisingly by accident, but then again you two had always been so in sync that it was no surprise you went to the same place to think Lenora’s death over.
The lake.
He was sat on the small bank where you’d built the rope swing, pushing the tyre out only for it to pendulum back for him to catch it and repeat. If he heard you coming he didn’t show it, or maybe he knew it was you and decided to give you the silent treatment. His hair was messy at the back as though he’d been tossing in his sleep and hadn’t brushed it, and he was wearing the scruffy clothes he threw on when he was working on his car.
Either way, the air was palpable between the two of you as you sat down next to him, the tears already in your eyes. You had wanted to be strong when you told him this, but there was so much to say, so much unsaid between the two of you that it grabbed you in a chokehold the moment you saw him.
He turned to look at you slowly and his eyes were red already, chin wet with tears that had gathered there.
You didn’t say anything. You simply looked at one another with the same bloodshot eyes, the same creased brow, the same pained expression, before you moved to crush each other in a hug at the same time.
You sobbed into his shoulder, he hid his face into your neck. You were both hurting, but you understood one another. The month of radio silence from him hadn’t changed that.
You didn’t want to breach the subject of Lenora now, you knew him too well to know it was too fresh a nerve to touch as of yet. So you stayed quiet for a moment, just wrapped in each other the way you knew you needed to be.
You found your voice after a moment and you announced what you had come searching for him to say.
“I’m not marrying Fred,” You murmured into his shoulder, and you felt him tense up. He didn’t say anything however just simply pulled back to look at your expression, which avoided his gaze. You couldn’t look at him when you said this, you were sure you’d break down crying again. “I didn’t love him as I should have. I didn’t love him the way I love-” The word ‘you’ hung in the air, and you had to draw in a breath to hold back your tears. “But I know this is really hard right now with her gone, and so you don’t need to say or do anything-”
He stopped you talking with his lips. You felt him cup your face and just like that the raging flame that had died out was back, crawling down your throat from the point where his lips met yours. Your lungs were seized with smoke that didn’t choke or stutter, it only brought want and need like nicotine and you suddenly understood why he smoked if it felt even half as heavenly as this.
So you kissed him at the lake, five years too late but a lifetime to make up for it.

Hey there! Since you're taking requests, I wanted to request an Arvin drabble that includes the kissing prompt involving ripping the other person away and saying - “no we shouldn’t” - but when they kiss them again they moan and hold them close. Credit for kissing prompt goes to tumblr user andrastesass.
sinful lips
arvin russell x reader. fluff + kinda angst. ooo i like this one. shout out to @andrastesass ! arvin russell masterlist
you and arvin have had this forbidden kind of love going on for the longest time. you’ve been friends with lenora before he even moved in with her and you both felt it’d be weird to have a relationship. though you both knew strongly about each other’s feelings for one another. but of course, things led to another, and here you are the two of you making out in his car after previously dropping off lenora at the church.
the two of you have been having these kinds of meet-ups for more than a month now and you’re beginning to feel like you’re betraying your best friend. it feels like a sin, but lord is it an enticing sin. his lips feel like heaven and his hands feel like fire. you feel like you’re messing with the devil himself when you indulge yourself with arvin.
you let out a gasp when he all of a sudden took the chance to lift you up and place you on his lap. “vinny,” you murmur in between kisses and wrap your arms around his neck. he grunts in response and you roll your eyes, pulling away. he groans and tries to lean up to you to reconnect his lips. “stoop!”
“what is it baby?” he grumbles and places his hands upon your hips. “am i too rough?”
“lord, no. it’s just,” you whisper and cup his cheek, admiring him for a moment. a moment becomes longer and you find yourself getting lost in his eyes. fuck it, you think to yourself and quickly smash your lips back onto his.
he shifts beneath you and sighs in content while he kisses back. he moves his hands toward your back and up to your hair. “so, damn, beautiful,” he says in between kisses.
you flush at his words and the thoughts of being a sinner swirl in your mind, taking over once again. you mentally curse your brain and rip away from him, exhaling loudly. “we shouldn’t,” you squeak out.
he barely hears you and kisses you harder, dipping his tongue into your mouth, then emitting a moan from you. he smirks at your sound but suddenly moans as you press your tongue up against his, all while gripping his hair. he slides his hands back down to your waist and pulls you closer towards him, his mouth never leaving yours. you both hesitantly and slowly pull away. you lean your forehead against his and breath out heavily. “we shouldn’t, what?” he retorts.
“shut it,” you whine and peck his lips.
he chuckles and rubs circles on your sides, “she’ll be fine, flower.”
“yea. i guess so, huh?”
“i’ll be fine with what?” lenora frowns as she walks up to arvin’s car, arms crossed.
“oh shit!” you both cry out.

‘‘you stupid whore!’‘
as you ran out of the house with a fast paced movement and with a heavy breath, you tried your best to run away from your drunken father. it has been years ever since your ma had died and your father was heartbroken. he would blame you for the cause of her death because she died when you were born
not long after that, he moved away from the town you used to live in. that’s how you met arvin for the first time.
he was a quiet kid. he would always mind his own buisness but with you, he could be himself. ever since you moved to the damned town, you and arvin had been close friends.
the sound of glass broke when you ran out of the door, which made you yelp before you stepped down on the ground. ‘’come back, y/n!’’ he shouted as he leaned onto the door before you ran towards arvin’s house.
you always knew that you were welcome there at the russell’s house. it was a second home. and arvin’s grandmother and oncle knew about your situation with your father.
‘‘y/n?’‘ you hard arvin’s voice from the door as he approached you with a concerned expression. his eyes darkened when he saw the small bruise under your eye.
‘‘did your daddy hit you again?’‘ he replied harsly as he came closer. ‘‘i’m fine, arvin,’‘ you told him.
‘‘come on, let’s fix that bruise, huh?’‘ you nodded as you approached into the house and to the kitchen.
you sat down as he took something out of the fridge and felt him press gently onto the bruise. you and arvin didn’t spoke for a moment until now.
‘‘what was it about this time?’‘ he asked you as you sighed.
‘‘same old, told me that he wished that i was dead instead of my mother,’‘ you muttered as you rubbed on your arm.
‘‘starting to think that maybe he is sometimes right,’‘ arvin took down the cloth and stared into your eyes.
‘‘well, i think that he is wrong, if you weren’t alive, i would never met you,’‘ he replied as he looked at you with a soft expression.
‘‘maybe i should do something with your father that would stop hitting you again,’‘ he sighed as he shook his head.
‘‘well, you know that he won’t listen, ‘‘
‘‘maybe he will this time,’‘ he mumbled as he focused back on treating your bruise, deep in his thoughts.

the end
source: the devil all the time part: one/? pairing: arvin russell/reader requested: no tws: n/a (canon typical in later parts but this ones safe) word count: 1652 synopsis: you make some bread, and contemplate finality. extra: i wanted to challenge myself to write a reader insert without using y/n et cetera!! im so excited for this, and very proud :) Someone once told you that there is nothing in life that isn’t a beginning or an end. You’re not quite sure what you think about that, but you figure there must be some sense of truth to it. Hell, you reckon that if those words are true every damn thing you do is the beginning of the rest of your life. This train of thought will come back to you later.
For now, you wake up in the morning to begin your day, and eventually you’ll sleep at night to end it.
You open your dresser to begin looking for your outfit, and close the dresser to end that search. Naturally, you’ll put on your clothes to begin wearing them, and take them off at some point to end that.
You open the window in your kitchen to begin a steady flow of fresh air, but you won’t get a chance to close, and thus end, it.
Later, all the beginnings you started and endings you caused in the coming few days will become viscerally apparent to you. You’ll wonder which one is more important; those beginnings or endings? You’ll wonder if that matters at all. It probably doesn’t.
Currently, you are kneading the dough that you began only 15 minutes ago for a loaf of bread that you’ll never get to eat. Your radio plays quietly in the corner of the kitchen and you sing along, finding a rhythm in your movement. You feel as though you could live in this moment for the rest of your life and stay happy the whole time. But of course, the song ends so another can begin and your timer goes off to tell you’ve kneaded enough, and the tranquility of the moment slowly dissipates. You wet a towel and delicately place it on top of the lump of dough, and set it into a bowl and aside to begin it’s second hour of rising. That means that you have an hour to yourself, and you resign yourself to laundry. It gets boring pretty quickly, however, so you resolve to finish this load and continue a book you started reading last week.
You’re only a few chapters from the end. You like it well enough- the characters are charming and the plot is compelling- but the pacing of it all is what’s really losing you. It started as a decent slow burn character study into the mind of a troubled woman that tragedy followed like a shy dog, which you find interesting. However, at some point it seemed like the author was as swept up in the world as you were and was caught off guard by the need for an ending. The past few chapters have been a rushed attempt at a satisfying conclusion, and the original message of the story has been lost. The woman started out as thoughtful and resilient, despite the shit life kept throwing at her. You like her a lot. At this point in the book, though, things should be calming down. They aren’t.
You pick up the book where you left off, and immediately it seems to be trending in an unnecessarily painful direction. You wouldn’t dare tell anyone, but you definitely prefer a happy ending. The appeal in watching decent people suffer for nothing is lost on you. It makes it difficult to ignore the more uncomfortable truths of the town you live in.
By the time you’ve gotten to the last chapter, your timer is going off again, letting you know that it’s time to move your dough from under the towel and in the bowl to the oven. You leave the book open on the counter (it stays, because you accidentally broke the spine when you first bought the book. Your best friend chided you for getting as upset as you did. “There are bigger things in life to worry about than a 50¢ paperback novel, darlin’.” He had said.) and stand to wash your hands. The front door opens and closes as you turn on the water, and you call out a greeting to your father. There is no reply while you move the dough to a pan, and you wait a moment before calling out again. This time you get an answer,  though the voice that responds is not your father. A smile creeps its way onto your face as you slide the pan into the oven and close the door.
Something you’ve noticed about Arvin Russel is the way he refers to the people. It’s never “good afternoon,” or “thank you,” or “how are ya?”; it’s always a “good afternoon miss,” or “thank you ma’am,” or “how are ya, sir”. He calls his sister Lenora little lady or hun; his grandmother is grandma or ma’am; his grandfather is grandpa or sir. Friends are bud and fella, and enemies are any number of vile swears and adjectives. You’re doll or darlin’, and you have been since you found him hiding behind the school back on the first day of sixth grade. It’s common down here in the south to call people anything but their name whether it be from respect or the opposite, but even as a child Arvin seemed to actively avoid using someone’s name unless he was saying something that he needed you to know he meant. Most people figured he was just some overly respectful kid, but you’ve always suspected that he just understands the power of his words. As you got older, you got the sense to wonder why a kid so young seemed to know so much about power and violence, both mental and physical. You’ve heard the rumors about why he moved to Coal Creek in the first place, but it never came to you to just ask if they were true and what living in Knockemstiff was like. You never considered it your business.
That’s all to say that when Arvin Russel greets you by name in your kitchen at 3:30 PM on a Saturday in the fine year of 1965, your hand stops on its way to the kitchen timer. A quick glance at the clock confirms that Arvin has work in 10 minutes, and you know that you live a solid 15 away from where he needs to be. You turn to face him, apprehensively studying the way he sits on a stool on the opposite side of the island that divides the room. He sits with a slump that shows an extent of exhaustion that seems deeper than the physical body. You wonder if someone’s soul could yawn. He seems like he hasn’t been able to relax all day, and even now there’s tension in his shoulders. Not to mention that his breathing’s uneven and he’s sweating like a sinner in church, so you decide to dampen a washcloth before asking any questions. He looks at you in such a way while you dab at his damp brow that chips away at your heart. He’s looked haunted since you met him, like Satan himself is dancing in his peripheral, always 3 steps away from finally claiming his soul, and you wonder for a moment if he’s always fought the devil all the time.
“Christ almighty Arvin, what happened t’you?” You ask, blotting away at his forehead.
His eyes snap into focus at that, like he’s remembering something, and he pushes out of his seat, snatching the cloth from your hand. “We gotta leave, doll,”
You look at him incredulously. “What in the world? You sit yourself back down and tell me what is goin-”
Arvin interrupts you by saying your name again. “I mean it,” he says, and you believe him. “You got- you got to get on packin’ and we gotta leave.”
“I’m not packin’ anything until you tell me what the hell is goin’ on, Arvin Russel. I mean it.” You say, and he believes you.
Unfortunately, you’ll come to understand that he doesn’t have the time to explain.
The two of you have fantasized about skipping town more times than you could count. A couple of times, you even packed your bags into the back of Arvin’s jalopy before school, planning on picking up Lenora and never looking back at this shithole. You were serious about it too, your father and whatever spends its time haunting Arvin giving you more than enough motivation. Still, you stayed. Arvin would say he’d miss his grandmother, which was true, but you both knew it wasn't what Lenora would want. After she died, Arvin swore he should have said damn it all and left anyway.
When he makes eye contact with you again, you know whatever is happening now is different than your idealized life on the run. Every time you planned this, you both swore you’d do it all together, and that included choosing the right time. Arvin was so particular about choosing the right time. Now, it seems that whatever he did that you two are running from didn’t have a right time. It just had to happen, and he was tired of waiting. A sense of dread nags at you perversely, and you know suddenly and without a doubt that if you don’t go with him now, you’ll never see him again.
He drops the rag then and leaves the kitchen with a sense of urgency you’ve never seen, and you tear after him. You meet him in your room and you both throw together two bags of your bare essentials. You’re out the door and shoving the bags into his trunk before you even get a chance to turn off the oven.
It won’t be until you’re leaning your head on the passenger window of Arvin’s automobile, speeding past the sign that cheerily reads You are now leaving Coal Creek! We hope to see you again soon!, that you will realize that you forgot your book at home.

Words: 582 ~ Pairing: Arvin Russell (The Devil All the Time) x female! reader ~ Warnings: none. Pure fluff. Written for @writerwednesdays and as a treat for my friend @the-not-so-silent-back-up
------
“Come on. It’ll be fun! The fair hardly comes out here anymore!”
“Yeah, an’ maybe that’s ‘cause it ain’t natural t’ be spun around fifty feet in the air,” Arvin grumbles, but he squeezes your hand as the two of you head towards the bright lights of the fairground, set up for a week on ol’ man Cooper’s field. The big wheel glows in the approaching twilight, carnival music pumping out through the still August air.
It’s the height of a sweltering Virginia summer. The grass crunches a little under your sandals.
“Lenora sad to miss this?” You want to know.
“Naw. I’ll take her tomorrow. She told me to go enjoy tonight with you.” He pats his pocket with his free hand. “Been workin’ extra hours off route 60, savin’ up to win you somethin’ pretty.”
You stop and reach up to cup his cheek. “Prettier than your face?”
He ducks his head, the battered brim of his cap hiding his gaze from you. “Stop.
“Not when you look so cute when you blush.” You skim your thumb over the fresh cut on his cheekbone. “Something happen today?”
He shrugs one shoulder. “Just someone else botherin’ Lenora.”
Your heart squeezes. He has a protective streak a mile wide, but who’ll protect him? He might seem tough as the old workboots he wears, but inside he’s a marshmallow, soft and sweet and even vulnerable, in his own way.
“You can’t protect her forever,” you whisper.
His brow furrows and his hands clench into fists. “She needs somebody, and I’m all she’s got.”
You hug him tightly, pressing your ear to his heart. “She’s lucky to have you.”
His jaw works against your hair, but you run your hands down his back and feel him relax in stages, until he tips your chin up with one gentle hand. “C’mon. I didn’t spend hours sweatin’ my ass off in the less than stellar company of six other guys just to stand here. Let’s win you somethin’ to hold when I’m not around.”
You lead him to the Hook a Duck stand. He digs in his pocket for change, hands it to the carnival worker wearing a bright blue banana over his bald head.
“You reckon I got what it takes?” he asks, cheekily, and you treasure this lift in his mood. Arvin doesn’t have much to smile about, and you hold each one of his grins in your memory for as long as you can.
You squeeze him around the waist. “I believe in you.”
He scoffs, but you can tell by the way he squares his shoulders that you’ve made him feel ten feet tall.
He hooks three ducks with ease, hands them to the carnie, who asks which stuffed animal you want.
“Lady’s choice,” Arvin says proudly, hooking an arm around your shoulders.
You point to a golden brown teddy bear with a heart embroidered on its tummy. “That one, please.”
The man gives it to Arvin who presents it to you. You squeeze the stuffed animal with delight.
“He’ll be there when I can’t,” Arvin murmurs into your ear. “He can sleep in your bed. Keep my space next you warm.”
Your cheeks heat. “Arvin!”
He grins, and it’s devastating, this happiness on him, it’s everything.
You catch his hand, tug it. “Now the ferris wheel! And maybe some candyfloss! And the carousel!””
He mock-grimaces, but you hear the smile in his voice when he replies, “Lucky for you, ain’t in me to deny you anythin’.”

"Your new movie 'My Dear Love' just came out, and in the movie we get to see Camila do everything she can so she can be with Louis, her crush. So, tell me, is there a person out there that you would do the same thing as Camila for?" Jimmy asked, leaving his cards face down on the table and waited for your answer. You smiled at the audience as a sign that there was a person and they started making noise to encourage you to say who it was.
"I mean, I definitely would not kill anybody to be with my crush, but yeah, out there is a person that I really like." you confessed and ran your hands down your skirt to take away some of the nervousness you were starting to feel, because you knew there was no turning back and you would have to say the name of that person.
"Spill the tea, we are all waiting for." Jimmy picked up his cup of water and drank, pretending to be a cup of tea and you laughed a little at his action.
"I think he's very charming, he's a great actor, i mean his roles are incredible and i'm not saying this because i like him, it's because the talent it's real," you let out a nervous smile and looked at the audience for a second. "the person is Tom Holland."
"You like Spider-Man?!" the man next to you asked with surprise and you just nodded, feeling a little embarrassed at that moment.
"I do, yeah. We met at the Oscars of 2018, well, we didn't 'met', but i presented a category and he did the same so we saw each other but i don't think he remembers me. Also, i auditioned for the role of Lenora in 'The Devil All The Time', but as you can see, i didn't get it." you smiled without showing your teeth and remembered the moment when your manager told you that Tom had been selected for the role of Arvin and that this was your chance to work with him.
"That's surprising!, i thought you were gonna say Matthew Gray Gubler, Daniel Sharman, Dylan O'Brien, someone like them, you know?" you nodded at the question as you sipped from your cup before answering.
"They are so handsome, but a little bit to old for me. My dad would never let me date any of these man, but i would love to meet them." you laughed as you answered and some applause was heard from the audience.
The interview continued until it unfortunately had to come to an end. You said goodbye to Jimmy and went to your dressing room to get a few things before leaving.
"Y/N, the car is waiting for you when you are ready." Lorena said, your assistant, opening the door a little bit.
"Thanks, 'm gonna be there in a minute." she nodded and closed the door so you could have a little privacy. You closed the makeup remover and put it in your bag, grabbed your phone and took one last look in the mirror, knowing the paparazzi would be outside waiting for you.
You opened the door with the free hand you had, while holding your bag and phone in the other hand so you could walk to the exit at the end of the hallway.
You signed autographs, felt the flash of the cameras and took pictures with fans before reaching the small van that would take you home.
"You got a new message of someone important, check it, please." Lorena said from the passenger seat, making you open instagram to see the message that you had.

“Popcorn’s ready.” Tom announced, coming into the living room with a few bowls of the favored snack food, handing them out to Tuwaine, Harrison, Harry, and Sam who were all scattered about the couches, before he sat down on the loveseat with you. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, and you snuggled into his side, stealing a couple pieces of popcorn from the bowl.
“And now to watch you run around and kill people for two and a half hours.” Harrison laughed as he picked up the remote to start the movie.
“That’s not all I do.” He rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, you smoke cigarettes too. Can’t forget that.” Harry teased. “It’s like Peter Parker joined the dark side.”
Tom grabbed a few pieces of popcorn, throwing them across the room at his brother, who opened his mouth and managed to catch one of the pieces. Calling his attention away from Harry, you pressed a kiss to Tom’s cheek as the movie began.
“I can’t wait to see your ass in those jeans.” You whispered to him playfully, making him chuckle.
“Darling, you see that ass in jeans all the time.” He joked, and you turned away from him to face the movie.
“Maybe I just can’t get enough of it.” You teased. You didn’t even have to look at him to know he was smirking proudly.
When you had agreed to watch Tom’s newest film, The Devil All the Time, with him and the rest of the boys, you thought it was a good idea. You had even been on set with Tom for a majority of the film, so you thought you had a good understanding of the violence in the film. Key word: thought.
It was a cinematically beautiful film, no doubt, and, of course, you loved your boyfriend’s performance in it, but some scenes were intense. While you felt comforted in Tom’s warm embrace, there was still an uneasy pit in your stomach as the movie played on.
“So, thoughts?” Tom asked, almost nervously while the credits rolled.
“Very badass.” Harrison acknowledged.
“Still can’t believe you killed Edward Cullen.” Tuwaine commented, and Harry nodded his head in agreement.
“And Bucky.” Sam added. Tom rolled his eyes at them and turned to look at you in his arms.
“I always knew you were secretly team Jacob.” Harrison teased.
“What’d you think of it?” While Tom genuinely cared what the others thought of his movie, your opinion mattered the most to him.
“It was great.” You reassured him, biting back your discomfort, “Your accent was pretty hot in it, too.”
“Why, thank you, darling.” Tom said, switching into his southern accent with ease and making you roll your eyes at his cheesiness.
The film talk continued for another hour with the boys argued over characters and themes and accents, just everything. Meanwhile, you sat there, cuddled up to Tom, as your mind silently played over a few select scenes, unable to get the unspeakable images out of your head. You reasoned that it was all fake; hell, you’d even seen most of those scenes be filmed.
That night, your mind kept returning to the film, replaying the scenes over and over in an even more dramatic and gruesome way. You weren’t sure how long you laid there, trying to focus on Tom’s soft snores and steady breaths to calm your mind, but, when sleep finally overcame you, it did little to help your mental battle.
Tom woke up with a start when he heard you let out a yelp. He was about to jump into action and (very blearily) fight off whoever was harming you, but he softened as he realized you were asleep right beside him. Not only was your yelp alerting, but you were also clutching onto the pillow for your dear life, not peacefully cuddled up to Tom. As he looked at your face, twisted up in distress, he felt his heart sting with worry.
“It’s not real, it’s not real.” You kept mumbling to yourself over and over in despair.
“Y/N, baby, wake up.” Tom started to shake your shoulder gently, trying to pull you from your nightmare. After a moment, your eyes fluttered open. As soon as you registered that you were awake and that Tom was in front of you, you let go of the pillow and hugged him tightly. Rubbing your back soothingly as you cried into his bare chest, Tom comforted you, “It was just a nightmare. I’ve got you. I’m right here.”
He kept repeating his words until he felt you begin to breathe steadily again. Feeling the slightest bit calmer, you pulled away from him and slid out of the bed. Tom watched as you maneuvered around the dark room, the only light coming from the alarm clock on his bedside table. You went straight for the box of tissues to wipe your eyes. Leaning over to turn on the table lamp that sat upon the nightstand beside him, he asked, “Do you want to talk about?”
“Not really.” You answered quietly as you climbed back into the bed. “I’m fine, just go back to bed.”
Refusing to believe your words, Tom softly took your hands in his, his thumbs grazing over your skin mindlessly.
He didn’t particularly want to ask his next question, but he was far too concerned about you to care, “Was it the movie? Was it me?”
“It wasn’t you.” You reassured him, but when you saw the worried frown still etched on his lips, you let go of his hands and shuffled into his lap, wrapping your legs around his waist. His hands rested on your hips, pulling you closer to him. “Tom, I promise I didn’t have a nightmare about Arvin murdering me.”
“Why’d you put that thought in my head?” He asked in disbelief and you laughed lightly, shaking your head at him.
“I don’t particularly remember what my dream was, but it wasn’t you. I was already on edge because of the Carl and Sandy scenes and then Lenora—“ You shivered a little, trailing off, and his thumbs began tracing soft circles on your hips through the thin material of your sleep shirt.
“If you didn’t like the movie, why didn’t you say?”
“No, I did like the movie.” You moved a hand up to push his loose curls off his forehead, running your fingers through his hair, “It’s a really good movie, and you should be proud of yourself because you were phenomenal. It was just too intense for me, and my subconscious got the better of me while I was sleeping.”
“You know I’d never hurt you, right? Never.” Tom said, seeking his own comfort now as he still pondered on your previous comment about his character.
“I know.” You smiled at him, leaning in to kiss him. As your lips moved against his, it took him a minute to actually kiss you back.
“We should probably get back to sleep.” He mumbled, groaning a little as he pulled his lips away from yours. He looked over at the clock to see it blindingly tell him it was nearly 1:30 in the morning.
“I’m still a bit shaken up. I don’t know if I can fall back asleep now.” You answered truthfully. Tom’s hands made their way down to the hem of your sleep shirt.
“I can think of something to distract you.” He smirked, and you playfully rolled your eyes at his cheekiness, “You spent two and a half hours ogling my ass in jeans.” He switched into his southern accent again, “Don’t you wanna see this ass in person?”
“You’re so weird.” You laughed, cupping his cheeks to bring him in for another kiss.

You had been waiting for weeks to see this movie, Night of the Living Dead.
You had planned to see the movie with Lenora but she chickened out last minute so you decided to drag along your best friend, Arvin.
Being neighbors you literally just hop the fence and are greeted by Arvin smoking a cigarette.
“You know those things can kill you,” you laugh, nearly scaring him half to death.
“I think you’re doing that better than these.” he puts the cigarette out on the bottom of his boot.
“You ready to go?”
“It’s pretty chilly out tonight, don’t you think you’ll need a jacket?”
“I'm not that cold, I think I’ll be fine.”
He holds out his arm and you loop yours around his and walk to the drive-in. Arvin has always been such a gentleman to you. You walk with your head on his shoulder and smile.
You enter and find two empty seats. The night was chilly but you didn’t want Arvin to think he was right about you not bringing a jacket so you had to tough it out.
The movie was about to start, “Arvin could you please go get us some snacks?” you bat your eyes at him.
“Of course doll save my seat.” he smiles and walks away.
You put your bag on his seat and watch the previews.
Next thing you know your bag is on the floor and there’s a guy sitting in Arvin’s seat and another one with his arm draped around you.
The one in the seat kept trying to feel up your skirt and the other one was trying to feel upon you.
You tried to fight them off-put they are using their force against you. The guy feeling on you was obviously drunk and you assumed his buddy was too.
“Get off me you creep,” you say with a struggle, and they didn’t.
“I think she told you to get off her,” arvins voice arose from behind.
The guy sitting next to you and got up, “Oh and what are you going to do about it?’
The two guys crowd around Arvin and the next thing you see is Arvin drop the popcorn and sodas and both the guys knocked out on the ground.
“Let’s get out of here,” he said with lots of anger in his voice.
You grab your bag and follow him out. “Arvin, why did we have to leave? Couldn’t we just move seats?”
He stops in his tracks and looks at you, “Arvin im sorry. Thank you for handling those guys. I really appreciate it.”
You wrap your arms around his waist and just hold him. Arvin wasn’t big on the whole hugging thing but he always made an exception for you. His arms went around you. You could hear his heart beating fast and it made you blush.
You both let go and continue walking home.
Once you get home you walk into your yard and he walks in his. You meet at the fence that stands between your houses.
He lights another cigarette and you look at him with your eyes asking for one.
“You sure you want one? Thought you said these things could kill you?”
You stick your tongue out at him. He chuckles and he hands you one and lights it with his.
You take in a deep breath and the smoke stings the back of your throat.
The warmth of the smoke in your lungs makes you have goosebumps all over your body.
“I told you, you should’ve taken a jacket.” he laughs as he takes off his and puts it around your shoulders.
“I don’t need your jacket, Arvin”
“You look like you're going to freeze to death.”
You laugh and slowly finish your cigarette. You didn’t want to be done. You wanted to spend more time with him. There was always tomorrow but tomorrow was filled with people coming between you two. You and him never really had any alone time.
Your thought was broken up from him clearing his throat.
“I think it’s time for us to hit the hay don’t you think?”
“Um, Arvin do you think you can stay up with me for a little bit?”
“Of course doll. Wanted to apologize for ruining our little date.”
“You didn’t ruin it, those assholes ruined it.”
His warm hands cradled yours and his rough fingers traced along your fingers.
“Arvin? This little date of ours, was it a friend date or a date date?” you try not to make eye contact embarrassed of the answer to come.
He tilts your head up and looks deep into your eyes, “Y/N I have loved you since the day I saw you.”
He slowly leans down and kisses you. You wished you could stay on his lips all night. He releases you from the kiss and by that one kiss alone you felt drunk off him.
You smile at him and he smiles back. That was probably the first time you saw him genuinely smile.
You start to play with his fingers, “I always planned on telling you but we never had any alone time.”
You laugh, “You know I love you too right Arvin?”
“Of course beautiful. I think I’ve always known that you have because you kept on giving me those lovey-dovey looks.
“Oh shut up Arvin! So were you ever going to tell me?”
“Tell you what beautiful?”
“That I was in love with you.”
“I think you knew you were in love with me.”
“I know I'm in love with you. But I didn’t know if you knew, that I knew, that you knew I was in love with you.”
“You know I love you but what the hell are you talking about?” he laughs.
“I don’t know,” you laugh, “I’m just stalling because I don’t wanna go home without you.”
“You don’t have to, beautiful. Why don’t you come in with me and I can get you warmed up.”
You smile and hop over the fence into the house together.

‘ARVIN RUSSELL x READER INSERT’
( spoilers for “the devil all the time” ) — Waking up at Reader's place, we finally get a glimpse at Arvin's POV. Though, while their relationship seems to be moving forward, it seems like the whole 'running away into the sunset' deal only happens in fiction.
+ this is the third part to peachy keen! (ao3 link)
warnings: angst, almost smutty but nothing explicit is written, mentions of murder, preston teagardin lmao, rated mature word count: 4,244 published: 9/24/20 ao3 link — part 1, 2

When Arvin woke up leaned against you, he felt his face turn into a beet shade of red. Slowly parting from your leaning form on the couch, he rubbed his eye, unaware that he had an actual decent rest in such a cramped position. He hardly ever felt comfortable enough to sleep in his own bed. Usually, attempts at sleep were mostly met with staring at the ceiling blankly, recalling haunting memories on repeat in his head.
His thoughts were blank when he fell asleep. Arvin was met with nothing but the television’s staticy audio and the sound of your quiet breathing.
He looked over to take in your features— what amazing features, he thought— and found his hand carefully creeping to the side of your face to brush the knuckle of a finger near your ear, tucking a strand of hair behind it lovingly.
Arvin loved you.
He knew he shouldn’t— he knew he had no idea what love was— but within the few months spent together, Arvin knew he liked you too much to be calling it ‘liking’ and ‘platonic’.
That one stormy evening alongside memories of beating the hell out of Lenora’s bullies, blood and bruising splattering his knuckles like paint, he needed a place to clear his head. He needed a place that was quiet in every way shape and form. Arvin had been driving with a foggy haze before his eyes had locked onto McCann Boys. Arvin wasn’t hungry. He wasn’t anything, he just needed to sit somewhere other than a damn car where he could swerve into a building and die.
When he stepped in, the immediate smell of sweetness overloaded his senses, and he found himself hesitantly sitting down in a booth, wringing the cloth against his knuckles in a patterned fashion.
Then you approached.
And by God, had you been the prettiest sight to see. If it were on any other day, Arvin would’ve been sure to come up with better words than asking if he had to buy anything.
That’s not how you talk to a pretty face, his father would scold in his head, y’wanna smile at ‘er, and make her feel all sorts of butterflies. Y’gotta make her feel like the only girl in the world, son.
Arvin often had his father’s coaching in his head when it came to things like this. Though, it didn’t really make sense most of the time. His father didn’t live long enough to meet Arvin in his ‘girl phase’. This was more than a phase, he promised himself, looking at your resting form. And my, had the universe been so forgiving of him, making sunlight drawing from blinds rest on your features, highlighting your skin and making you look like a pure, unadulterated angel.
He wanted you.
Arvin bit his bottom lip. He wanted you so bad. He wanted to keep you forever. He wanted to take you away from this lowly place in Ohio and bring you somewhere nice, somewhere with beaches and sunshine, away from disgusting preachers, dried blood and judgmental eyes.
Realizing the first time you went to that church, Arvin could see the way that no-good priest looked at you. He knew what that man did to Lenora. He knew everything. Arvin got up from the couch, his fists turning stark white as he paced towards the apartment door, red building at the sides of his eyes. Arvin had to protect all the girls in town. He had to. For Lenora, for Y/N. He had to go and—
“Arvin?”
Hearing a voice that reminded him of bells, Arvin turned around, seeing you slowly rise up from the couch and looking over to make contact with him. “Where are you going?”
Your sleepy tone was so amiable. Your eyes were so dazed, blinking as you gave a small sniffle, scratching at your shoulder.
“I was…” Arvin trailed off before coming back towards you, kneeling in front of the couch and giving a smile as he took your hand. “I was gonna get you breakfast. As a thank you.” A lie, but it was fine. He was planning on watching the priest. Though, breakfast didn’t sound too bad. Time with you was worth more than anything else. You were all he had, next to his grandmother and uncle.
You smiled. He melted a little inside.
“You don’t need to get me anything,” you murmured as you clutched onto his hand. Your eyes were studious, flitting around his body, and he suddenly felt small. “Are you okay? I’m sorry about the sleeping stuff… if your neck was stiff, I mean, I’d feel bad—”
“Y/N,” Arvin spoke sternly, “that was the best sleep I’ve ever had in my life.”
Your eyes turned round, diluting slightly once they met the sunlight.
Arvin could hear his father’s berating tone in the back of his head. Say it. Be a man. He looked at the ground, holding onto your hand for dear life, uneasily balancing his weight on his knee. Though, Arvin couldn’t say anything. Nothing was coming out. There you were, waiting so patiently, being so patient with him, and he was at a lack for words.
Words wouldn’t fix this. Only action. Action would fix everything, Arvin knew this. He was taught this. He was always better physically expressing his thoughts and feelings than vocally or emotionally.
Releasing one of his hands from yours, he curved one underneath your palm and pulled your soft, untouched knuckles against his lips, giving a kiss. These knuckles have never hurt a soul. This being had never hurt anyone. Arvin would make sure it would stay that way.
He glanced upwards, his cap altering his view slightly, and he could make out the way your cheeks turned a different shade, inviting lips gaping slightly.
Smiling against your skin, Arvin moved his free hand to the top of yours and gazed at you. To his surprise, he watched as your thumb rolled circles against his own. You were smiling, and it was a smile to take in. Oh, it was.
“You’re sweet, Arvin,” you giggled so beautifully and he wanted to listen to his name coming out of your mouth on repeat, “...I kinda want donuts.”
Arvin couldn’t help but give a laugh under his breath at the change of moods. He stood up, continuously holding your hand as he refused to let it go, and said, “Let’s get donuts, then.”
He was angry. He was a pot boiling. Staring at Preston from afar, he watched from his car as the man interacted with a female shopowner who was fresh out of highschool. Arvin’s leg bounced within his vehicle, the sun setting, and he continued to survey.
Preston would interact with girls other than his wife. He would bring girls into his car and do unspeakable, unlawful things with them, then proceed to go back to the place he calls home and force himself onto his wife.
Arvin clutched onto the wheel.
While Preston was a horrible man who deserved the worst punishment from all graces of any lord, he found himself growing frustrated. Not even just about Lenora or all the sweet innocence the man took, Arvin found himself growing frustrated at his own damn self.
He would think about Y/N.
No, not doing such acts as those forcefully, imagining the same power dynamic, he would never. He meant it when he said he didn’t hurt girls. Arvin despised the man. He despised him and he wanted him gone. He wanted that man to suffer for what he did to his sister. Though, at points, he would drive up to your apartment and stare at the window that belonged to you. He would lick his chapped lips and his hand would shake as it reached the door handle. Then, Arvin would grow a clear sense of mind, he would receive clarity, and he would drive to the opposite side of town just to avoid even thinking about touching you in such a passionate way.
After a few days, Arvin decided.
He’d have to leave you behind.
He loved you, but he also loved Lenora, and Lenora deserved justice. Arvin could hear her voice already, pleading for him to let it go. To just let the man be. To leave. Do anything else. Settle down with you somewhere far, far away, start a life, start a family. Be free.
“I ain’t ever let anything go, ‘Nora.”
The priest was dead.
Arvin’s blood rushed through his veins as the sun set on the horizon, him zooming through the city streets, eagerly approaching your apartment.
God, it was a thrill. The adrenaline coursing through his veins after watching the damned predator fall onto the church floor bleeding from his wounds was cathartic. It made Arvin’s head whirl and turn dizzy. He had no moral thoughts, he was no longer moral, no longer a man that could be forgiven. Arvin felt the rage that built up within him for years be released with three gunshots, the guilt and agony of being alone and misjudged by any person left behind within the church.
Sitting in the car and hearing the blinker click at him, he turned it off once pulling into the lot. He took off his cap, carding his fingers through his hair, debating if he was really going to let you go.
Y/N offered a future he couldn’t take. It hurt more than anything.
Arvin glanced up at your patio, seeing you move from behind the window. You were only a silhouette. You were yet to be discovered by him in this manner, this new Arvin Russell. You wouldn’t recognize him, he thought, he wouldn’t recognize you.
It would be a completely different take on his life. He was no longer himself. Was he better, or worse? Was he a criminal, or a vigilante? Arvin didn’t know what to do. It hadn’t set in yet that he was no longer only capable of beating bullies shitless. He was so much more than that. He was more.
Arvin could do anything.
It was dark out. He finally found the courage to yank open the door handle and step out of his car. He didn’t bother to lock it, he had nothing to lose.
Entering the apartment’s doors, smelling various spices of cooking or hearing children laughing from very muffled walls, Arvin found himself stomping up the steps, his heart beating against his ribs uneasily.
Staring at the room, noticing that the others around were vacant, Arvin could just about do anything. No one would know.
He clenched his fists a few times before finally knocking on the door with his knuckles. It was like the first time you two had met, his very knuckles expressing his pain and anguish, and you read onto the signs of a lonely man seeking solace. Arvin was still bruised and broken; just not in any place where you could see it.
You opened the door, and your mouth opened before closing abruptly. Arvin knew he must’ve looked like he just killed someone. Well, he did, but you didn’t know about that.
Arvin wanted you. Though, he’d be careful, you were the one delicate thing in his life. He had to treat you with care. He had to treat you so gently this night, for it would be your last with him.
Taking a step inside, he moved his hand up and cupped your cheek, moving his thumb— once holding a gun used to kill— so that it wiped gingerly beneath your bottom lip. Your jaw fidgeted slightly as you were attempting to find words. Though, your hand didn’t disagree with his actions. Instead, it met the back of his palm, planted gently on top of his own hand that held your cheek.
Confident, Arvin moved in closer and pulled you towards him, meeting your lips with his. You made a soft noise in your throat and it set Arvin’s mind on fire. Flames danced between your faces, and he felt you eagerly kiss back, your arms snaking across his shoulders as he found himself kicking the door with the back of his heel to close it shut.
Your hands found themselves on the surface of his head and pushing off his cap to knot fingers in his hair. Arvin didn’t even care. His body was burning underneath your touch as he found himself pressing you against the nearest flat surface, which was your dining room table that held a vase with hand picked flowers resting inside and a sweet floral mat keeping it level. You were so adorable, he swooned in his head, you were so precious to him and oh so good. You’re so good.
Wife material, Arvin’s head was screaming, he wanted to steal you away and marry you. You were lifted onto the mahogany table, Arvin’s tongue swiping at your bottom lip. You were so good, submitting your mouth to him, letting him roam the inside and clutch onto your hips so tightly it could bruise. Feeling your soft, untouched, blessed hands clutch onto his belt line had him push his pelvis closer to yours.
“Arvin—” you attempted, but he wouldn’t let you. No, he wouldn’t let you worry. You didn’t need to worry about anything, not with him around. He was your protector, he would keep you safe, he wouldn’t let you die or leave. He wouldn’t let you be hurt by anyone. Thinking about keeping you close to him in his arms, just this close, making you sigh from pleasure as Arvin plastered kisses down your jaw and to your neck to test the waters of what made you quiver; it was enough to drive him insane.
He found his teeth scraping at your flesh and you gasped, arching your body upwards and he felt your hips grind against his middle. It made him give out a guttural growl of need.
“Arvin, wait— wait, honey, stop—”
Arvin didn’t want to. Though, he would, just for your sake. He lifted his head up to meet yours, and once you made eye contact with him, your expression changed from flustered to concerned. Nurturing. Your hand met his cheek, your thumb gently rubbing itself underneath his eye, and he moved a hand to hold your wrist and gently kiss your palm.
Your voice was so soft, so sweet, as if you raised it any further it would blow Arvin away. “What’s going on?”
He wanted to tell you everything. You were so kind, you were everything, you were the sun and stars and sky. Nuzzling into your hand, he murmured, “Nothin’...”
“It’s clearly something if you come into my apartment and start kissing me like this, Russell,” you spoke, his last name strong in your city accent. Your voice was so stern, so dead set on uncovering him, and Arvin gazed at you, still high from revenge and loving you.
He hesitated. Arvin pinched his lips together, licking them faintly, still tasting your lip scrub on them.
Your warm hands met his burning face, handling them so sweetly. “You don’t need to give me specifics,” you started, “...just give me something, Arvin, so I know you’re in your right mind.”
Your name made his eyes flutter shut, nudging his nose against yours. “Say m’name like that again, sweet girl…”
“Arvin.” Your tone was more of a warning. It pulled him back from the sea of desire.
Arvin sighed, mumbling, “I had a revelation, darlin’…” his thumb rolled circles into your wrist, “I had a good day… ‘m a free man, Y/N. I wanna share this with you.” He opened his eyes to see you gazing at him so sweetly. “Let me have this night with you, pretty girl. I wanna make you feel as good as me. I’m sober, I promise, ‘m just intoxicated by the thought of you.”
“Such a flirt,” you whispered against his lips, and he felt himself smirking.
“Only for you.”
Your beautiful, reflective eyes stared into his. Then, they shut, and you moved your head forward to slowly encapture his lips. Arvin was more than eager to requite this. Fervor filled his loins as he clutched your thigh once it was squeezing against his side.
“Sweet baby girl,” he whispered into your ear, “Can we move this to your bed?”
When Arvin woke up, he had never felt more exhausted. He was hit with a newfound clarity. There was a soft gray shade leaking from the windows, and he squinted at the clock from across the room— wiping the fogginess from his eyes— and took notice that it was in the early hours of five a.m. Arvin went to move, but was barricaded by something clinging to his side.
His eyes were round as saucers as he took a hold of your nude bodies entangled.
Flushed, he quickly whipped his head back ahead, staring at the ceiling.
The confidence he had last night was almost embarrassing. Though, he licked his teeth and looked back to you, his fingers carding through your hair. Your hair was so soft to the touch, so perfect for someone like you, never missing the latest trends.
Arvin gave a hum of contentment, taking in your features in the early morning. Last night was full of unbridled desire, a fervor that the both of you had been bottling up for who knows how long. Perhaps, since that rainy day in the bakery, there had been that weird spark that compelled you both to do this.
He buried his nose in your sweet scented hair, pressing his lips against your warm forehead, hearing you shuffle and murmur under your breath. You were still very much asleep.
Taking in your sleeping face for the last time, Arvin gave a pained smile. He didn’t want to leave you at all. He wanted to keep you forever— he wanted to wake up to this every day— but he couldn’t let you become an accomplice. Arvin had to protect you.
With that, he managed to sneak his way out of your koala arms and legs and get dressed in his old clothing. Reading over the letter he wrote yesterday, Arvin felt his heart break with each word. You didn’t deserve this. You deserved better than him— someone who could keep themselves together, who wasn’t so haunted by the past. You came to this city to escape yours, and he couldn’t drag you into his. He had to escape too. Some part of him knew you would understand that with time.
Arvin had stopped by a bakery quickly, ordering a lemon and poppyseed muffin with the most bittersweet feeling, coming back to your room to see you were still dead asleep.
He placed the muffin box down on the nightstand and folded the letter so that it stood up with your name on a proud display. Arvin’s hand wringed its way through his hair before he stared at his ragged blue cap for a moment, placing it alongside the muffin and letter.
Arvin leaned down to kiss you on the lips briefly, you giving a sleepy hum, pursuing your lips lazily before drifting unconscious again. He noticed that the sun was just rising.
The sunset brought a bit of hope. He watched you sleep for a bit, the purple turning into a golden on your features, before he made his exit.
Your body felt like jello. Giving a groan, your hands scavenged the sheets for the warm body that accompanied you that night, but you were left with a cold absence. Cracking your eyes open and grunting at the shine of the sun, the clock spoke nine a.m, and you were surprised Arvin was not with you.
You licked your lips and sat up. Stretching your spine, you noticed you were nude and blushed, pulling the sheets up your chest. “Arvin?” You called, noticing the lack of your friend— lover? Boyfriend? Friend with benefits?— and gave a long exhale. Luckily you had the day off, as convenient as that was.
Looking over, you noticed the hat, muffin box, and letter. Your name was in bold pencil, and you tilted your head curiously before leaning over and peering through the plastic cover. You smiled and saw the dark spots of poppyseeds on the treat. It was sentimental, and your heart nearly burst.
Gazing at the hat, you were inquiring if he just managed to leave it behind.
You decided to take the letter, opening it up and not preparing for what you’d read.
Y/N,
You’re probably wondering where I am right now. I am too. If you asked me right now, I wouldn’t be able to give you an answer.
I did something that can’t be forgiven. Maybe not by the Lord, definitely not by law, uncertain by you. I don’t want you to worry. I’m safe. I can’t come back. I can’t give you a number or address. I don’t know where I’m going, I don’t know who I will be.
The world ain’t been kind. I know it ain’t been kind to you either. I don’t want to make things even worse for you, sweet girl. You’re everything I didn’t deserve. You said to me a long time ago that I deserve good, but I don’t. You are such a good girl, so much so I can’t have you. A part of me wants to be selfish and keep you. I know I can’t. I can’t do that to you.
You’re gonna hear about that preacher man. You’re gonna hear things about me, probably. I just want you to know I did it because I had to. You need to know that. I couldn’t be alive knowing Lenora wasn’t and he was. I’m sorry, baby.
I’m sorry for leaving you. I don’t want to. There’s nothing I want more than for you to be with me right now, pretty girl. I’d give everything just to see you every morning, every afternoon, every night. Ever since that day where you forgave me for the first time for my sins, smoking and drinking black coffee, I know what else I could fight for. I know what I could have just for myself. The sad part is, God is a sadist, and he won’t let me have you.
You asked me if I like Puppy Love, and I do. I’m listening to music for once as I write this, and I understand all the stuff they cry about on the radio. I know what it means to love. My heart ain’t ever been this broke before, sweetheart.
I love you, Y/N.
As I said, we’ll be seeing each other again. Look out for postcards from my initials.
A.R.
When you finished, wet spots had been dotting the paper, and the last two initials were the final nail in the coffin. You let out a choked sob, leaning over to clutch onto the paper close to your chest. You collapsed onto the sheets, weeping, unable to comprehend. You kept asking why, why, why, even though it was right in front of you.
You flipped the page, noting the sweet lyrics on the back.
I cry each night, my tears are for you, my tears are all in vain, I hope, I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you’ll be back in my arms once again.
Sniffling and wiping at your nose, you gave a few sobs, pressing your palm against your damp cheeks until they turned red.
You folded the paper and placed it back on your nightstand, curling in on yourself, clutching your sheets that still had Arvin’s presence lingering on them. Pressing them against your wet, hot face, you gave a few soft wheezes.
How could you tell Arvin you loved him, too? How could you write back to him? How could you sleep at night, not knowing he was okay? That there was no way you could tell him you’d wait forever for him?
You must’ve managed to doze off, as the sun was no longer as golden as before. The skies were a clear blue, and you managed to tug on tolerable clothes. Standing on your patio, you clutched the metal railings, staring down at the town with dismay. He was no longer here. This town no longer held that charming spark that you’d learn to love.
Walking back inside, you gazed at the letter, muffin, and hat. Leaning over, you grabbed the blue cap and rubbed your thumbs against the torn fabric, pressing the lid against your lips and kissing it. At least you had this— something you rarely saw him without. He gave you this, and your heart soared at the thought. Placing it on the top of your head, you took the lemon and poppyseed muffin and headed towards McCann Boys.
Marilyn perked at your presence, speaking, “Sweetpea, it’s not your workday.”
“I’m here as a guest,” you murmured, gazing at her, and Marilyn’s eyebrows rose at your expression. She gave a sorry nod at you, continuing to swipe down the counters.
You sat in the booth you and Arvin met at, and you took your seat, gazing at the ashtray emptily. Picking at the muffin, you fixed your cap to hide your face.
The radio near the coffee player began to sing. Your heart dropped, and you recalled the oh-so familiar lyrics.
...This is not a puppy love.

“ God damn-it Howard, just tell me what yah told the sheriff. Tell me where the fuck yah think he is. And don’t bullshit me either,” Y/n said staring the deputy down with a hard stare, trying to get much needed information out of him. To find her best friend’s brother, to find her friend, to find the stupid boy she was in love with.
“ I can’t tell yah that Y/n, yah know that..”
“ And yah know me, and Arvin. And yah knew Lenora too. Arvin was only doing what he needed to do to protect ‘er, to avenge ‘er,” Y/n knew Howard had always liked Lenora but she was too wrapped up in god and running away from the boys that would torment her at school to notice. Sure, Y/n was using that to her advantage but she needed to use all that she had if she was gonna find Arvin.
“ Don’t yah use that on me, look I care about yah guys. I know Arvin wouldn’t hurt nobody that didn’t deserve it. But I can’t tell yah where he is, and the Sheriff’s got it handled. He can take care of Arvin by himself, he don’t need a girl such as yourself getting in the middle.”
“ But he don’t know Arvin like I do. And that sheriff don’t use ever use his god damn head. I should know with how handled mah daddy,” Y/n and the Sheriff from Knockemstiff weren’t too friendly with one another. Back when Y/n was nothing but youngling, only 13 at the time, Sheriff Bodecker blew the head off her Daddy. Bedecker did protect her and her Mama that night. But Bodecker wasn’t there to help them. He was there for money her father owned him, and the man just wouldn’t give it up. So just seeing the man hit his daughter gave him enough reason to kill him and get his money. Y/n didn’t like how it went down, she’d seen the whole thing. All the yelling and the big shot gun. Got stricken across the face and then, her Daddy being shot.
“ I just know that Sheriff is gonna do somethin’ to sent ‘im off and Arvin might do somethin’ he gonna regret. Please just tell me where yah think he is. I need to find ‘im Howard. I need to find him before he does somethin’ stupid again. Please.”
Howard sighs, looking at the young girl in front of him. She was a good friend, he knew that much and he knew her since they were young. Arvin and him weren’t the best of friends, but they knew each other and that was enough. He knew Arvin cared for Lenora deeply and he’d do anything to protect her. And he knew Arvin loved Y/n, the two were so enamored in the other that they didn’t even know they held the same feelings. But with their feeling, he knew that Y/n was the best bet to help Arvin out of the hole he’s dug himself into.
“ Alright, alright I’ll tell yah. But don’t get yerself killed, Kay?” Y/n nodded happily.
“ We think he went back to Knockemstiff. Where he used to live as a kid, to his old house or somethin’... Now git, and don’t you tell nobody I to-” He was interrupted by the young girl hugging him tight.
“Yah won’t regret this, thank you.” And then she ran to her truck and made her way to knockemstiff, hoping she wasn’t too late to stop Arvin from taking another life if he felt he had to.

Shit is a word that Arvin repeated over and over again in his head as the Sheriff pointed his shotgun at him, yelling like a mad man. I mean, Arvin would have done the same thing if his sister was killed and in a way he had when he killed the Preacher. The sick fuck had deserved to die.
The Sheriff continued speaking, angry and drunk. Wanting so bad to kill the man who killed his sister. So when he finally found his hiding spot, he tried to shoot him wanting the bastard to die, wanting Arvin Russell to die. But sadly, he would not be getting his drunken revenge. The sheriff shot, trying to shoot the young boy only to shoot the fallen tree protecting Arvin and to get shot himself by the German Luger in Arvin’s hand.
Arvin’s whole body felt shaky after he shot him, he hated the thought that he killed another person, another man. Someone who had family, who had a life unlike the other three he shot and killed. This man was a lawman, and the law would have his head for this. Arvin pulled out a small picture, it was of Sandy Bodecker holding a dead man in her arms. Arvin showed him, so that the Sheriff could see why he had to kill her because if he didn’t, he might’ve of been killed himself. So he sat there as the man died just a few minutes later even though it seemed like hours. Arvin stood up, exhausted and went to grab his Jacket to get ready to take off when he heard his name being shouted by a voice he knew all too well. It was Y/n.
“ Arvin! Arvin Russel! I know yer out here!” Before Arvin could think, he scrambled behind the fallen tree, hoping she’d go away. He didn’t want to pull her into this, hell he’d left a letter for her too. Hoping his Grandmomma  would have given it to her. The letter was all about her staying away, but she couldn’t even do that. Arvin knew Y/n was too stubborn to listen when she had her mind set. Y/n never listened to reason when she got her mind set on something else. Which in this place was running after him after he said not to.
“ Arvin please come out! I don’ts got a gun on me or anything. I have money and a truck, I even gots some clothes. I want to help yah. That ol’ sheriff is gonna be here any minute to get yah and I need yah to come with meh.” Arvin realized that she didn’t know the Sheriff already came, and that he shot him. He felt like shit that he was pulling her into this, that she was in this. This mess that he created.
Arvin knew he couldn’t just sit there, expecting that she’d think he wasn’t there Y/n always knew. Arvin always suspected that she knew him better than she knew himself. He spoke, just wanting so badly for to leave him be so that maybe she could be safe,“ Y/n, I need yah to leave. I uh, I’ve done shit things and I don’t wanna pull yah down with me. Please don’t be stubborn for once in yer life and listen to meh.” He heard Y/n sigh, which meant she was close.
“ Arvin, I ain’t leaving. So get your ass up outta whatever place your hiding in before I make yah.” He sighed, he knew he wasn’t gonna be able to do anything to make her leave. He stood up slowly, time seemed to slow down as tears filled her eyes upon seeing him, running at him and hugging him tightly. Arvin wrapped his own arms around her and rested his head onto her shoulder.
“ Yah big, dumb, idiot you...” She said quietly, hugging tightly like he might disappear if she lets go. Arvin sighs, feeling a strange sort of comfort in her arms. It reminded him of the comfort he used to have with mother, when she’d hold him or sing that old song ‘Bessie’. She pulled back before looking down to see the dead body, Sheriff Lee Bodecker.
He heard her sigh,“ Where the Luger?”
Arvin was surprised by how calm she was, seeing a dead body right in front of her. But then again, he knew Y/n. She’d seen things that even he hadn’t seen and he saw his pet dog being crucified and his Daddy taking his own life with a god damn pocket knife. Arvin looks down at the ground, where he buried his poor dog and his Daddy’s gun,“ I buried it.”
“ Good, we don’t need nobody else dying cause yer trigger happy.” Arvin nods his head, not really having anything to say.
“ ‘Kay, go git into the truck, I’ll be up there soon. I need a few minutes to send a few prayers for the man and such.”
“ Look Y/n, yah don’t have to do thi-”
“ Go git in the truck Arvin. We’ll talk in a few. Just go git in the truck.” Arvin sighed, nodding before making his way up the hill to Y/n’s old black pickup. He opened the door and sat in the passengers seat. He knew he could’ve probably dipped out on her, tried to push her away so that she doesn’t get involved in this mess. But he knew no matter how hard he tried, she would just pop right back. Because she loved him, it was clear to him now that she loved him the same way he loved her. I mean, what kind of girl would drive all that way to knockemstiff just to pick up a boy she knew murdered several people. Girls in love.

Arvin and Y/n sat in silence in the truck. Silence reminded Y/n of her Father. How her and him would sit in his black pickup truck, the same one she now drove in. They’d drive in complete silence, to a place where he could have his way with her when she was nothing but a child.
Y/n thoughts started to wonder, wondering if that's what the preacher did to Lenora, took her to a place in his car where he could get what he wanted, blinded by his sinful acts. She’s seen him do it to the Reaster Girl and he once tried to do with her. But she wasn’t stupid enough to get into a car with a man she just met, with a man that reminded her of a man she longed to forget but always stayed ingrained in her brain.
Men like that are always blinded by sin, no matter how much they say they are a man of god, they are just the devil in disguise using god's name to cover up their tracks for what they do. She thought Lenora would've been safe, but that sadly wasn't god's plan. Arvin stared ahead, trying to keep awake as he tried to figure out something to say when Y/n spoke up," I do this cause I care about yah and yer all I have left. I donts got any family no more. At least nobody in coal creak. Your all I gots left.", the girl had started, causing Arvin to wake up a little. And he looked at her, watching as she gripped the steering wheel, so focused on the road but also focused on making Arvin know her reasons for helping him. For a helping a boy who's killed.
"We aren't blood related but we're friends, we're close enough to be family. Lenora was mah friend, but she was mah family. And what that preacher did, he deserved to die. That man reminded me too much of mah Daddy. I knew he was trouble from the start. I could see the way he did things, it was the same type of things mah daddy did. Those type of men, they always have a pattern. Mah Daddy did, and so did the preacher."
Y/n didn't speak of her father often, sometimes it was too painful to talk about. About the things he did to her and her mother. He'd beat them, and he'd use them in more ways than one. Using them to show off to the world what a man of god he was as the Father of a small Church. Or to use them as servants for his house to be picture perfect, not a thing out of place or there would be a price to pay. Or, he'd use them in the most sinful way of all, through lustful acts. And not just his wife, but his daughter too. Lenora had saved her most times, sneaking her into her home late at night or sometimes in early morning or during the day. And Y/n helped her with the boys at school, trying to get them to leave Lenora alone. It never worked, both Lenora trying to keep Y/n away from her Daddy and Y/n trying to keep Lenora away from the horrid boys at school. But they both tried, and for just that Y/n saw Lenora as family and Lenora saw her as family too.
" Lenora didn’t deserve what happened to her. She was such a bright girl, she my best friend. She always helped, no matter if it was gonna hurt her in the end. She always helped.” Y/n paused, a small memory forming in her head and then into words.
“ Remember how Lenora used to hide me from mah Daddy? She'd sneak me in the window and yah'd hear it and come running to tell us to shut up before we woke up Grandmomma. Then you’d proceed to act like yah didn’t want me there, only throw one of yer shirts at me telling me it wouldn’t be the greatest thing for meh sleep in mah day clothes,” Y/n spoke, a small smile and chuckle leaving her, Arvin watched it. Watched how a memory with not good things embedded into it made her smile. Arvin never understood how Y/n could get so happy just by a single memory. Even memories that weren’t the greatest. Arvin thought it was probably because she didn’t have many good memories, only a few but they always had some type of her hurt in them but she still cherished them as much as she could. Mostly, all memories she had was her trying to save herself and her depressed mother from her Daddy, so not too many were happy. And because of  all those no good memories, Arvin rarely ever did see her smile like that, smile with really happiness and not just something phony so no one will worry about her. But Arvin knew, he always did.
He hears her sigh," I wished she would've recognized the signs of a man like that. Of a man like mah father, she knew ‘im, we both pledged to stay away from men like that. But sadly, they always tend to get us one way or another. No matter what their relation is to yah, they always get yah." She pauses, thinking about Lenora for a minute, thinking about how she didn’t deserve that kind of abuse, about how she didn’t deserve to die, to kill herself.
“ What I’m trying to say, is who yah killed, they deserved to die, not the other way around. And thats why I’m helping yah, because yah don’t deserve whatever’ punishment the law’s gonna inflict on yah. You were Lenora’s brother and in a way she was my sister. So I’m looking out for yah, for her.”
Arvin looked down at his hands, the same ones that held a gun, his Daddy’s gun,“ But aren’t I like those men, aren’t I turning into them? I’ve killed, Y/n. Not just the preacher. I’ve killed another man and a women, I’ve killed the Sheriff.”
“ And why did you kill ‘em?”
“ They were gonna kill me. T-the man had a gun, so did his wife. I shot ’im before he could shoot me and I shot his wife too. I had begged her to put down the gun. B-but she wouldn’t. And the Sheriff, he was gonna kill me cause the wife was his sister. ”
“ See, yah only killed to get rid of the horrible people who only intend to hurt yah. Yah killed with reason, not just cause yah were blinded by sin. And that Sheriff, sure he was a lawman, but he was a bad one. He deserved it as much as his sister. So no, yah aren’t like ‘em. That’s why I love yah, stupid. Because yah aren’t like them.” Arvin looked at her, all she did was stare straight ahead, focusing on the road. Arvin knew she had hard times with saying love. Even just saying love to people who were just family or friends. Love scared her, he knew that. It scared him too. Love to kids like them was a scary thing, because it didn’t come often and when it did it was ripped away from them. Slowly Arvin put his hand on her leg, to give her at least some sort of comfort, some sort of touch and maybe he needed the touch as much as she did too.
“ I love yah too, yah know.” He said as he looked out the window.
“ I know.”

“ Put these on.” Y/n spoke throwing a black t-shirt and Jeans at him, the clothes landing on his head.
“ Why?”
“ Cause, they already know what yer wearing. If yah wear something different it’ll be harder to find yah, plus it’ll be better for yah to wear somethin’ cleaner.” Arvin sighed grabbing the clothes Y/n threw at him.
“ Also, I got somethin’ for yah. Here.” She then throws a pack of cigarettes at him. The pack hitting him square in the face making Y/n laugh.
“ Yah know, yah could always just hand me the stuff instead of throwing it at me.”
“ Well where would the fun be in that?” Y/n said with a smirk and wiggling her eyebrows in a goofy way. It was dark out and Arvin sat in the open back of the truck while Y/n threw stuff at him that she’d packed. Arvin was surprised about how prepared she was. She packed all the necessitates. Like blankets and clothing, even food and water and even money. Arvin was grateful and lucky Y/n came after him, he would’ve been completely lost without her.
“ Now git dressed. I’ll look away, don’t yah worry.” Then made a show of slowly turning around and putting her hands over her eyes. It made Arvin chuckle, he liked when he saw Y/n like this, all goofy and just plain smiles. It reminded him of Lenora, it reminded him of his mother.
“ So where did yah get these clothes anyway? They look like mine.”
“ Yeah, I raided yer drawers. Grandmomma helped me too.”
“ She knew yah were going after me?”
“ Yeah, she does. She wanted me to find yah and to make sure yer safe. She said I’d be the only one to keep yer ass in line out here.” There was a moment of silence between the two.
“ I’m done getting dressed.”
“ Finally, I need some well deserved sleep and you are taking up our bed for the night. We’ll find something better tomorrow though.” Y/n hopped on the makeshift bed with all the blankets she had piled onto one another to make it more comfortable than it was on the back of the pickup truck. She laid down and looked up at the sky, a small smile on her face.
“ Yah aren’t gonna change either?”
“ Oh, uh I uh, I forgot to bring a change of clothes. I was so focused on getting shit for yah and finding yah. I forgot some clothes for myself. But it’s fine.”
“ No it ain’t. Here, wear one of my shirts yah brought, I bet wearing that dress isn’t too comfortable.” Y/n raised an eyebrow at him.
“ Is this just yer way of getting me to wear yer clothes. Cause yah could always ask.”
“ Oh shut up and put on the clothes.” Arvin said with a little red starting to creep up on his cheeks, he was thankful it was dark out so she couldn’t see. Y/n laughed as she grabbed one of Arvin’s shirts, it was his white button up church shirt. Y/n had always wanted to try it on, it seemed comfy to Y/n, and it was. When Arvin could finally look, his eyes wanted to pop out of his skull, and in a way they were. There she was, in just undergarments and his white button-up. Arvin always hated that shirt but right then, he loved it.
“ Alrighty, now it’s time for sleep. We got a lot of driving to do tomorrow cause we are going all the way to Cincinnati.”
“ What’s in Cincinnati?” Arvin asked as Y/n climbed in the back and laid down.
“ My Uncle lives out there. I gave him a call at one of the phones while you slept in the Truck. He’s gonna keep us for awhile, he’s got an extra room and he’s gonna let us stay until we are able to leave and make a life for ourselves without the cops coming after yah.” She laid down looking up at the sky as she spoke. She never saw her uncle anymore, the man used to live with her and her parents when she was young. But one fateful day at age 10 he moved to Cincinnati and never really kept in contact. Y/n knew his number, always wanted to call him. There were multiple times where she wanted to call and beg him to take her away from her small house in Coal Creak. But she never did. When she called, the man was ecstatic when he heard her voice. He offered her to stay with him before she could even ask. It made her wonder how a man who obviously wanted her to be in his life never kept contact for many years of her life. But she already knew it was probably cause of her Daddy. The man never liked how his brother looked at her Mama and how she looked at him. How he seemed to act like more of a father to Y/n then her own was.
“ You have an Uncle?”, Arvin asked popping Y/n out of her thoughts as he propped up on his elbow so he could look at her. As he looked at her, he started thinking about how beautiful she was. Even in the dark and with the dirt and the few stray leaves in her hair and even wearing his horrid old church shirt. He still thought she was just plain beautiful.
“ Yeah I do, he used to live with me when I was younger. He’s a good man.”
“ And does he know what I did?” Arvin asked nervously.
“ I told him, he said it wouldn’t be any different if yah were in the war. Don’t worry, we gonna have a place to go. Yer gonna be okay. We’re gonna be okay. I got it handled,” Arvin couldn't explain how he felt in that moment, as he stared at her, knowing how Y/n was always there. Even when they were just kids and he was just plain lonely and to now where she's helping him get away from the law after killing. But all he knew, in that moment, was that he loved her and he wanted to tell her in the best possible way. Love to kids like him and her was a rare thing, so he decided he was gonna act on it. So he kissed her.
From his propped up position he was able to swoop down and touch his lips to hers as she laid there looking up at the stars. Y/n was surprised at first, not knowing what was happening when realization hit her. Arvin Russell, her best friend growing up, the boy she loved was kissing her. So she kissed him back. Their positions changed through the kiss. Y/n now straddled his lap and her arms circled around his neck, one hand running through the back of his hair. Arvin sat below her, one hand on her hip and the other grasping the side of her face gently. Both putting all their love and passion for one another into that one kiss. They both finally pull away, both of their lips being swollen but big smiles on both of their faces, even Arvin who rarely showed smiles. But that just made Y/n appreciate them that much more.
“ Arvin...,” Y/n started, looking at him with so much love.
“ I love you’ Y/n. And not just as a friend or any of that shit. I love yah, I love you as someone I want by me like my Daddy wanted my Mama.” Y/n looks at him as if he just moved the moon.
“ I love yah too. Always have, always will,” She speaks, with lovey, dovey tone to her voice before leaning down and kissing him again. Both got aroused fast from their positions and soon they both had one of the best nights of their lives. The lost of both of their innocents. Both of them were each others first and will also be their last.

It was sunrise when Arvin woke up, Y/n laid upon his very shirtless chest as her naked body stayed hidden under the blankets. The memories of what happened last night circles around in his brain, making him smile. He and Y/n had both lost their innocence last night in the back of her Black pickup truck. Arvin couldn’t remember a time of being so happy and feeling so loved like he was last night. Both knew it was a sin in god’s eyes, but they both hoped he’d forgive them since even though it was before marriage, they were still in love and in their eyes its not any different.
Arvin looked down at her, entranced by how beautiful she looked, how pure she looked just sleeping all sprawled out on his chest, her hair all messy and a light pink dashed across her cheeks from the cold. He sighed, wishing this type of peace could last forever. That the two could just stay like that in the middle of the woods in the back of the truck just enjoying one another’s company. But he knew thats not how life always worked.
Y/n started to stir, her eyes starting to slowly open as she let out a small yawn. Her nose scrunched up as she yawn, it reminded Arvin of a small Kitten. She was his little kitten.
“ Mornin’,” Arvin spoke in his deep southern voice as he looked at her. She looked up at him, a small smile gracing her face.
“ Good Mornin’, so yah ready to take off for Cincinnati with meh? You know you ain’t getting rid of me now?” Arvin smiled, swooping down to give her a gentle and soft kiss the lips before pulling away.
“ And I wouldn’t change it for the life of me, Darlin’.”

Long time ago
I loved The devil all the time. I already watched it twice in one week..... Whoops. I thought it was very interesting how everything came together at the end.
Arvin Russell x reader
You were going to work when you saw him in the window of the saloon. He had his baseball cap on, and held his head low, yet you still recognized him. Back in Coal Creek, he was a quiet kid back in the class. You hadn’t seen him in months, well you moved from Coal Creek to Colorado Springs. But, you were sure it was him. You walk into the saloon. “Arvin?” you said, you sit down on the bar stool next to his.
He looked up from his drink. He didn’t recognize you immediately. “Y/n” he said, You gave him a smile. “What are you doing here?” you ask him. Now you got a good look on his face, you noticed he hadn’t shaved in days, and he looked drunk. “I am just passing through.” he said, his voice sounded rough. “How is Lenora? I haven’t gotten a letter from her in ages.” You ask. He looked away, to the bottles at the bar. “She isn’t alive no more.” he said, taking a gulp from his drink. Your heart kind of sunk in your chest. Lenora was always nice to you when your mother passed away. “I’m sorry for your loss.” you said, he nods, he held up his hand to order another drink. “How long are you staying?” you ask. He shrugged, then he looked at you. “I don’t know yet.” he said: “I am working with the railroad at the moment.” You nod. “What about you?” he asked. “My dad also works for the railroad. We have moved from home to Montana, and now we are here.” you said, he nods, chugging another whiskey down. “Maybe you should take it easy.” you said, he had two drinks in less than ten minutes. He chuckled. “Maybe you should mind your own business.” he said, you were taken a bit back by his reaction but you weren’t going to let him be rude to you. He pushed his glass towards the bartender, asking for another one. You take the glass from him before he can refill it. “He’s had enough.” you tell the bartender. He nods.  “Do you want to have dinner?” he asked.
You sit down in front of him, he hasn't bothered changing his shirt or shaving. He did lose his baseball cap. It wasn’t like you dressed up or anything, it was just catching up with someone from home. The two of you went to the diner that was on the main street. He ordered potatoes, greens and chicken. While you ordered tomato soup with bread rolls. He was eating his food fast, and it felt uncomfortable. “They don’t feed you by the railroad?” you ask. He chuckled. “I’m sorry.” he said, you shake your head. “No need to apologize. You want a roll?” you offered one of the bread rolls. He gave you a smile, taking the bread roll from you. He started talking to you about how town was before you left. This was the first awkward conversation of many nice conversations with him. He walked you home that night, not pushing you towards something you weren’t ready for like a kiss. Though during the walk, you linked your pinky finger with his. A smile appeared on his face, though he didn’t show it.
He was tired from work, but he still took time to take you out to dinner. You were always glad he didn’t drink when he took you out for dinner. You hadn’t seen him drink in a while anyway. Afterwards, the two of you were sitting on the porch of your home. The two of you were looking at the stars, the two of you didn’t turn into more than friends. It wasn’t like you didn’t want to. He just never made any gesture that he liked you more than that. “I have been thinking about going to Kansas city for a while. There is a new factory there, and they are looking for workers.” he said, you frown at him. “You’re leaving?” you ask, you felt the sadness in the pit of your stomach. He nods. “I have to be real honest with you” he said: “I am kind of running from the police. I can’t stay in one place for too long.” You look at him confused. “What did you do?” you ask softly. You look at him, and he looks really upset. “I- uh- Please don’t think awful things of me.” he said, you nod. “Bad things happened in Coal Creek. I killed the preacher, he did awful things with my sister. So I had to.” He explained. You nod, you knew the preacher. He had tried things with you. But, you declined because you weren’t dumb enough to fall for his tricks. You weren’t surprised someone came after him. Arvin looked embarrassed because he wasn't finished talking. "I ran away, to Knockemstiff. I hitchhiked, and this man with his wife were doing dirty things. Taking pictures and stuff, the man wanted to shoot me. So, I shot first and then the wife and I had guns pulled on each other, and I thought I was a goner. But, she shot with a blank, and I didn't. " he said, he couldn't look you in the eye. "Afterwards, the sheriff came for me. I tried to explain it to him. But, he didn't want to listen because the wife was his sister." He said, you nod. There were so many questions that popped in your head. But, you didn't want to scare him off. "I will never live past knowing what I did to them." He said: "I thought I could when I met you. I love you, Y/n. I thought this could be it." He then looked up at you. "But, I noticed my warrant out on the post-office today." He said: "so this is goodbye, Y/n" he got up from his seat. He walked off the patio. You were still processing all the information. "Wait!" You said, you ran after him, grabbing his arm so he wouldn't just storm off. "I don't care about all that. I care about the Arvin I know now." You said, he shook his head. He looked past you. "You don't understand. We are the same man, Y/n. We have blood on our hands, and I am a coward for running from the law." He said, you shook your head. You wanted to tell him that he was an innocent in this but you knew better than to let your emotions take control. "You did what you had to do, Arvin." You said, he pulled his arm out of your hands and continued on walking. "Stop it, Arv" you yelled after him. You ran in front him, stopping him by placing your hand on his chest. "Arvin I love you. " you said, he shook his head. "Y/n, you shouldn't ." He said, he seemed upset. "We can be happy together. Were you not happy these past few weeks?" You ask him. A small smile appeared on his face. "Yes. But, I can't ask you to come with me, Y/n. You deserve more than that." He said, he took your hand off his chest, taking your hand in his. With your free hand, you placed it on his cheek pulling him in for a kiss. He quickly responded by returning the kiss. "Take me with you." You said, pushing him slightly away from you. He put his arms around your waist to pull you closer. "You wouldn't like that life." He said, you shake your head. "I would like every life with you." You said, a smile appeared on his face.
*years later
"Daddy, daddyyyyyy" the little girl said, running towards him. He picked her up, placing a kiss on her forehead. "Hello, jelly bean." He said, he walked her through the front door setting her down on the kitchen counter so he could kiss you hello. He pecked a kiss on your cheek while you were trying to put the finishing touches to dinner. "Charlie, go sit at the table, dinner is ready." You tell your daughter, picking her up from the counter and helping her to the ground. Arvin was washing his hands in the sink. He followed you to the dinner table. "Where is Will?" He asked. You thought your son would have been at the dinner table by now since he set the table. "Will, get your ass at the dinner table." Arvin said, you glare at your husband for using that language. Will, the spitting image of his father finally appeared at the dinner table. He had his arm in a cast from a football accident. After prayer, Will was telling about the science fair at school the was held next week. "will you come, dad?" He asked him. You knew that with the hours Arvin was pulling it would be difficult. "Of course, son." He said, he looked over at you with a smile on his face. He had never broken a promise to his kids.
