What if Uther persecutes magic, not because of Ygraine, but because of some prophecy? Maybe it was Nimueh or a Druid but at some point, someone tells Uther that Arthur is basically destined to fall in love with and give his kingdom for a magical being. So, Uther, terrified in losing his kingdom to the thing that killed his wife, starts to hunt down magic. He so easily believes that Gwen is a witch because she’s just Arthur’s type, right? It must be her.
