#its soooo fun and also so beginner friendly when it comes to dnd #it does have slight Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated vibes in some ways /pos #the character arcs are insanely well done the relationships feel well developed and real despite it being improv #its a lot shorter compared to a lot of dnd shows (cough cough critical role) and iiiii love it #2/3rds of the girls are in wlw relationships and theyre done WELLLLL #ALSO RIZ GUKGAK MY BEST FRIEND RIZ GUKGAK. #ramblings of a lunatic #decided to rewatch it again bc the toh finale has had me in a tizzy and while I'm getting better #it's definitely been hard just floating about in fandom space knowing that the show is ending and that in the scenario we do get more of it #in another form ofc #it won't be for a long time yknow?#it's saddening and back in September when i was uh. Very Sad bapc was really there for me #i was out here ardently defending the netflix series' writing bc i genuinely thought it was really good #and i still do #but more than that this show is intensely comforting in a way i can't really place/describe #it's a magical girl show. it's a workplace comedy. 99% of the cast is 25 years or older. its a coming of age story.#it's has pastel and lo-fi art direction. it's cosmic horror. the main character is so caring and yet so selfish and also autistic #and a robot #all of her romantic relationships are intensely weird and frankly are her least interesting dynamics #her most interesting dynamics are with her roomate/pet who's actually a space pirate cursed to look like a marketable plushy #and with her 8 year old landlord who's mom was childhood best friends with her dad making them family in a sense #except they're not really. also they're foils (she's an immature adult he's a kid who tries to be more responsible than he is)#it's filled with intense melancholy and multiple characters suffer from un-talked about depression #it is one of the cutest and brightest shows i have ever seen (in a non-obnoxious or technicolor way) and has an intense air of whimsy #it kinda has a fandom but not a big one despite having an undeniable impact in online animation culture and a bit on online culture overall #I'm not captivated by it in a fandom-y sense but i am obsessed with it. it's like wuthering heights to me #i love this show

I'VE READ UMINEKO! I never finished it for some reason but I got pretty far in. i really like what it does with its fantasy/reality ideas and it's an incredible portrait of the specific intergenerational abuse that wealthy families perpetuate! it's got such complex characters and really commits to fleshing every single one of them out. I think i fell off because I was having difficulty keeping track of all that was happening with ange, but maybe one of these days i'll pick it back up lol

#narrates #my friend june and i talk a lot about how rosa is one of the best written examples of an abusive parent we have ever seen #and about how a lot of her abuse of maria is explicitly related to maria being autistic and 'difficult' to care for #maria as well she's such a well written little girl. that one bit about the narratives she tells herself...#umineko is a really clever work. maybe once i finish orv i will pick it up again

#i always forget how much I like teenage mutant ninja turtles until I get started again #I saw clips of the new movie from animators that worked on it on twitter and YouTube and it made me curious and god.#I remember I judged that show based on the designs and the way they drew master splinter but it’s actually pretty good??#I actually really liked some of the changes they made #putting splinter’s character arc of learning to be at peace with his past in the show was surprisingly fulfilling #he’s not like the past iterations of splinter at all but there’s something compelling about what they chose to do with him #you just. have to get through the first few episodes where he’s at his lowest #also I kind of like what they did with Leo in the newest show #and moving Raphael away from the trope of ‘big angry brute’ but designing him like that was a surprising trope inversion #i just like the way they did the turtles’ personalities in this one. they’re goofy brothers that kick ass!#also the show instantly shot forward in respect from me #bc one of the show writers basically canonized that at the very least Donny and Mikey are on the spectrum #and unlike most shows w an autistic smart character they actually write Donny pretty well in that context #also instantly like it a ton bc April is a cool member of the gang again and not a damsel in distress or uncomfortable love plot device #also she’s a black girl now and it’s fucking awesome #I hate the amount of racists that pop up everytime she’s even referred to online though :/#this April seems like the best one I’ve ever seen tbh she meshes with the rest of the main cast extremely well
