romantic killer
EVERYONE GO WATCH THIS ANIME
It’s about a girl that loves cats, chocolate, and video games!! One day, a magical gremlin wizard takes her most beloved things away and declares it’s time for her to find love?! 🤡 But MC adamantly refuses to fall for any of the love flags and romantic scenarios set up for her! It’s a really fun romantic comedy that actually touches on some of the darker aspects of love in the latter half of the series. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT
Bonus: Leona’s VA voices the main guy (a cool, reserved type) and Riddle’s VA voices another love interest (an arrogant rich kid) 🙃 I LITERALLY COULDN’T UNHEAR EITHER OF THEM WHILE I WAS WATCHING
If you close your eyes and picture Leona/Riddle saying the exact same lines as their Romantic Killer characters do like I did, you’ll have even more of a blast with the show!

My favorite genre of sci-fi is “small research team goes to a distant plant/star/space station/black hole/etc to study something weird there, and then the weird thing there Wrecks Their Shit.” Can’t get enough of it. “Small research team goes to a deep undersea research station” and “small research team goes to a deep Antarctic research station” are also very good variants of this as long as they get completely rekt by a weird mysterious alien thing there. I love it every time.
It is also important to note that these stories can range from “TPK” to “lone survivor” to “a few losses but most of the main characters come out of this harrowing ordeal alive, if changed” to “everyone survives this harrowing ordeal and they have a new friend now!” but the more characters survive the better the story better be. If it’s a TPK/lone survivor I eat this up and will love it no matter how bad it is (Underwater (2020) starring Kristen Stewart I am vaguing you here. Stupid movie. Saw it on the big screen and loved it). But if most/all of the cast survives, the writing and the story and the characters better be goddamn amazing (All Systems Red by Martha Wells and Wolf 359 by Gabriel Urbina and Sarah Shachat I am vaguing you here <3 )

Sometimes I genuinely wonder if we should go back to calling antisemitism "judenhass" to stop hiding what it actually is. And the only things that stop me pushing for this is 1. It's not fair on the Germans to use that as the global term (same idea as not naming diseases after places) and 2. It means the antisemites who are trying to redefine literal words to erase their meaning, win. Like antisemitism has a meaning and if you are pulling the bullshit like about "XYZ are semites too" then you're not just an antisemite, you're also fucking stupid

The funny thing is I've met ppl with both super deeply harmful and abusive occasionally incestuous family dynamics and I've met ppl with otherwise pretty regular romances to their sister or cousin or something. And it reminds me of how a guy I knew in HS told me age gaps are abusive because he was incompatible w his bf of 2 years older but i've known ppl who regularly date with larger gaps and are fine. Ymmv but if you only date people of your same class same age within 3 months same race etc etc. I think you have like some weird neurosis going on which is also not my business but I hope you become less anxious with experience and meeting different ppl and whatnot.

I don't really understand when people talk about Enstars stories as mid specifically because it wasn't like... the next Reminiscence story. Yeah the really deep and juicy stories are what got a lot of us into the series but they can't all be like that or we'd be burnt out really quickly. Stories like Kaguya-hime and Ring.A.Bell's story or the individual unit and scout stories with low stakes help to develop characters and make them feel more like real people to the reader. Kaguya-hime is coming in between two major SS Arc tours and those are really intense, long stories and it's good to just have a girls night out shuffle unit in there to bleed tension as well as just give the readers a break. The story is about friends having one last hurrah before going their separate ways after high school (or Hiyori's "idol retirement" as it were), of course it's not going to be Checkmate or Human Comedy or Meteor Impact because it wasn't meant to be like those stories. Regular normal stories have their place in the series as much as the Reminiscence and Climax and Main Stories do.

“And get a good look at him she did…So this is how it all ends, huh? She sees, calls him a freak, they never talk again, and also he potentially just put his loved ones and himself in serious danger.
“…you’ve got fins,” she said simply.””

Latymer explained how, when Anne heard that the smaller monasteries were to be dissolved, she instructed Hugh Latimer to argue in his next sermon before the king that the houses should not be dissolved but converted to better uses. Anne was not an uncritical supporter of monasticism: Latymer reports how she told a delegation of abbots and priors that they kept 'their gates close[d] from the preachers of God's word, and yourselves sit either idle or scarce well occupied in your cloisters, clean void of knowledge,' knowledge being here the correct evangelical familiarity with the scriptures. Anne's agenda was not dissolution but transformation: Latimer 'besought [the king] it might please [H]is [G]race of goodness to convert the abbeys and priories to places of study and good letters and to the continual relief of the poor.' Anne instructed her other preachers to include in their sermons 'continual and earnest petitions for the stay of the same.'
The Pilgrimage of Grace and the Politics of the 1530s (2001), Richard Hoyle

Funniest part of the ~key 5~ discourse was like. implying that grrm gave other povs importance just completely on accident I guess? Like if we’re only considering what’s relevant to the key 5 or whatever then it makes no sense why other povs have basically a wholeass book to themselves. “umm achtually affc wasn’t meant to be a standalone book sweaty🙄” well it is now which either means grrm thought those characters’ stories were worthy of being explored on their own or someone held him at gunpoint untill he added more cersei chapters i guess
