lmao Ashton and FCG's relationship deteriorating being a result of seating arrangements was not what I was expecting but it makes so much sense

Oookk finally confirmed my suspicion. The reason i have a much harder time signing R with my right hand as compared to my left is because my ace ring gets in the way💀

today in "overthinking things related to Lupin", I bring you: a hotel.
So I have this Lupin map project, and I've been slowly getting back into it, and I'm about to put 813 data in. First thing on the list is the hotel where Kesselbach lives and also gets murdered. It's called the Palace Hôtel, and is located between the Judée street and the Orvieto street in Paris.
Now with this project I prefer to research on my own first (it's half the fun of this!), but intense googling and looking through 1900s Paris maps and almanachs yields no result, so I decide to check the Dictionnaire Arsène Lupin by Jacques Derouard, where I learn that the two previously named streets do not in fact exist, and that the hotel was probably inspired by the Palace-Hôtel at boulevard Saint-Germain.
Alright, back to googling I go, but again, almost nothing comes up about a Palace-Hôtel at boulevard Saint-Germain! I do manage to find one or two mentions of such an hotel, except... This hotel seems to have been built in 1926, and 813 came out in 1910, so it can't be that one. I then decide to check out Le monde d'Arsène Lupin, also by Jacques Derouard, because it has a very short chapter on hotels, so maybe? And hurray, they talk about it! But this time, it says that the hotel could have been inspired by the defunct Claridge at the Champs-Elysées.
Anyway, I quickly look up the Claridge hôtel, and this one is much easier to find, it even has a wiki page, where I learn that it was built in 1914, so still!! not!! the one!! i'm looking for!!!
So now I'm getting a bit dejected about this, 'cause this is literally the first item on the list and I've no fucking idea where to put it. But then! I remember that I have the recently republished original version of 813, straight from Le Journal in 1910, and that maybe, just maybe amongst the changes that Leblanc made in subsequent reworkings, the hotel was one of them (which could also explain why Derouard cited hotels built after 1910, considering that 813 was reworked in 1917).
And wouldn't you know it, the Palace Hôtel, located between the Judée street and the Orvieto street, was originally the Elysée-Palace right on the Champs-Elysées and the Galilée street. It's a very real hotel, and I can finally place it on the map. Everybody say thank you Editions Manucius pour les travaux.
Now the funny thing about this is that I should probably go back and check all the data I got from the "mainstream" version of 813 against the 1910 original one, and. i'm probably gonna do it, just out of curiosity, but unless a situation similar to this one arises, I think i'll still use the info from the common version. Easier for everybody imo.
voilà c'est tout, i get a bit obsessive about things sometimes mdr

what are your favorite murder mystery/heist/con pieces of media? i've watched leverage and search party since i saw you posting about them and thought they were rly fun
leverage is definitely the absolute pinnacle of heists and cons to me IMO. better call saul has some REALLY fun coning happening in it. i really like oceans 8 as a heist movie because well i am in some regards extremely easy to please. miss fishers murder mysteries is a really fun murder mystery tv series based on some detective novels that has a more sort of classical murder mystery feel, but right now i'm playing ai: the somnium files which is fun if youre into shit that's weird and stupid. i'm enjoying hte mystery a ton but i can't say how well everything resolves yet because im not done

also the fact that you can't choose not to deactivate roxy to get an alternate ending sucks. like have her know Something is wrong in the pizzaplex and if you choose not to deactivate her she mentions it to you and you help her out from under the car and she tags along with you freddy style as you investigate. have roxy mentioning weird shit make cassie put the dots together that gregory sure sounded like a computer splice earlier. have her question why the weird mask that stabbed her in the brain to implant a chip with no warning has been very insistent about turning off security systems. have her question why, if gregory asked her to meet him at the pizzaplex, he would leave behind a walkie talkie and then get himself stuck rather than just wait for her. and have /that/ be what gives you access to the scooper ending rather than just Zooming Out Some Cameras. also make the bonnie stuff actually have something to do with the plot dude people are super interested in that they wouldve been ECSTATIC if youd brought glamrock bonnie back for real, especially if hed somehow gotten revenge on monty, like say if you did get all the pat pats (dumb name btw) instead of deactivating him, you REactivate him, but have him be disoriented and need time to actually wake up so all he can do is like save cassie from monty at some point
