These might not be as long as some people's playlists bc I'm very picky about how much the lyrics have to match the subject.

Especially when they're both such amazing characters who deserved so much more than pining after someone while yes is a remarkable person, still they deserved so much more respect for being awesome human beings.

Perhaps in alternate universes, Jack and Martha both have The Doctor reciprocate the love they have for them.

That's all I ever hoped.

I think I've expressed my love for the idea of Martha and Ten after series 3 regularly calling/texting each other. Just talking to each other about the most mundane stuff ever.

Additionally, Martha is pretty much the only one who has a direct line to the Doctor, and I think I've addressed how special that actually is.

So now imagine others finding out about this. Specifically Jack

I can think of this going one of two ways.

There is some sort of alien invasion and like Jack is at his wit's end and desperately needs the Doctor to help, so he tries to pull an Amy and Rory, yk crop circles or something to get the Doctor's attention. He's done everything he can think of to get the Time Lord's attention.

Then he ends up talking with Martha, telling her of the situation and saying how they need the Doctor but that he has tried literally everything and he isn't coming.

And Martha, as Jack is still talking, pulls out her phone, hit speed-dial. And just as Jack is finished talking the Doctor picks up and she's like

"Hey Doctor, here is Jack for you."

And hands Jack the phone, while he just stands there frozen staring at her jaw dropped. Until eventually the Doctor's voice breaks through with a "Hello?"

Alternatively, Jack and Martha are just sitting together on a calm day in Torchwood or maybe at her flat and she is texting and Jack notices that she smiles at her phone. So he obviously asks her who she's texting (and probably make a Jack themed joke about hooking up)

And then she's like "The Doctor"

And Jack just freezes. "As in Tom right, your fiance who is a doctor-" knowing damn well she wouldn't call him the Doctor

"No, the other one."

"you mean- you mean..."

"The one with the blue box?"

"But-"

"Really quite handsome, though a bit of an idiot"

"How-"

Ten/Martha/Riley AU Chapter 5 update!

Chapter Five: The Last of the Time Lords AU is up, and finally we're getting a Martha/Ten confession/kiss (as well as another surprise kiss) after a majorly changed ending to Last of the Time Lords- Martha deserved to have her epic moment of triumph over the Master/a moment of her being a full doctor was acknowledged and I'm giving those to her. Also some cuddling because dear god do Jack, Riley, Ten, and Martha deserve a moment of rest after the shit they have to go through in the Utopia-3-parter.

Doctors With Each Other’s Companions

Ten x Clara Oswald

there is only one reason that these two could not spend more than the 50th anniversary special together: the bisexuals would’ve spontaneously combusted

if they had one full conversation they’d flirt themselves into an outerspace hotel room in approximately 4 seconds

the tension is palpable

the HEIGHT DIFFERENCE? I have been found deceased in a sewer pipe

no but seriously a show with these two couldnt be PG

Eleven was all flustered and bumbling when Clara flirted with him but Ten?? OH, he is SMOOTH AS BUTTER WITH IT once he’s gotten a bit more accustomed to it

Nine x Donna Noble

these two would probably never get anything done bc they’d be arguing all the time in an epic war to out-sass each other

and Donna would win every time

and Nine would never admit it

if there is ANYONE that could put any Doctor in their place, it’s Donna Girlboss Noble

imagine Nine yelling for Donna like Ten did too, iconic

I’m not sure Nine could cope with Donna for a whole series just in terms of keeping up with her but I think for however long they were travelling together, it would be the funniest pairing in Doctor Who history

Twelve x Martha Jones

first of all, the racism that Ten allowed Martha to experience when he made himself human and chose the time period they’d hide in?? Twelve would NEVER, we saw how he protected Bill!!

second, she would’ve been saved from heartache with this version of the Doctor

Twelve would actually appreciate Martha, in ways that the heartbroken Ten couldnt

the fact Martha is so smart and has such a vast medical knowledge? Twelve is ALL about it

he’d meet Einstein just to say “Martha Jones is smartest person in this room, after me.”

he has no regard for whether that’s technically accurate or not

Twelve has every faith that no matter the scenario, Martha Jones is smart enough to figure out a solution

very biased and does not care

Nine x Amelia Pond

now hear me out, this is an odd combo, but ENVISION IT

Amelia Pond would soften Nine like sun on snow, especially if they had the canon meeting of her and Eleven

he’s more inclined to be blunt, but I think Amy would become his exception in a similar way to Twelve x Clara

like Nine will go on a rant about how stupid the human race is, but then ends it with “-except for Amelia, obviously.”

he roasts Rory to no end, the two of them are the ears and the nose

River Song slaps Nine more than any other regeneration of the Doctor and that’s canon

and if it had been Nine in a Good Man Goes To War, let’s just say his name would no longer be…

Eleven x Rose Tyler

listen listen listen, I KNOW Rose already got two regenerations of the Doctor but it will never be enough for me Im such a whore for Rose’s dynamic with the Doctor I wont take any criticism goodnight

if her relationship with Ten continued with Eleven?? UMM

Rose would be jealous of River to begin with but they’d become besties in no time bc River has obviously heard all about her and is like “You stared into the heart of the Tardis? Slay x”

Eleven and his boyish antics, his bubbling excitement and ridiculous dress sense would have had Rose Tyler GIGGLING

also Eleven could charm anyone, including Jackie Tyler, it’s canon she thinks he’s utterly adorable and actually keeps a supply of jammy dodgers in the cupboard just in case they pop round

Twelve x Rose Tyler

SO CUTE

Rose and her daddy issues, fixed by the lovingly-grouchy grandad that is Twelve? HAND IT OVER RN

also the Scottish accent saying “Rose” would scratch the brain

similar to Twelve x Clara, except with the canon additions of Captain Jack and Mickey Smith

obviously, Captain Jack still tries to flirt with the Doctor and calls him a “silver fox” and Twelve is like >:( but internally he’s twirling his hair and kicking his feet

and he forgets Mickey’s name entirely

forgets he’s there, actually

You know what? I'm gonna say it. As someone who is asexual and on the aromantic spectrum myself, I'm a bit tired of the Doctor Who fans who all say that Donna is the best companion of Ten's just because they were best friends and nothing more and that automatically makes her the best companion of RTD and for a lot of you, the best companion overall.

Listen, I LOVE Donna. Adore her. And I also think that her friendship with the Doctor is amazing. But it has always rubbed me the wrong way that the companions who have a romantic interest in the Doctor (and let me tell you, there is textual evidence for every one of them that the feelings were reciprocated in some way) are somehow considered lesser BECAUSE of that interest. That just because they fell for the Doctor means that their relationship with the Doctor is cheapened in some way.

I personally think that just as platonic relationships should not be considered lesser than romantic ones, the same goes in reverse. Amy, Clara, Martha, Rose, River, and Yaz's feelings may have some weak writing decisions attached to them, but so does Donna.

Personally, I love Donna's character arc/the tragedy of her ending, but I've always felt a little disappointed by the fact that her becoming the DoctorDonna in Journey's End was not predicated on her strong characterization/choices (Ala Planet of the Ood/Fires of Pompeii) but by "fate" pushing it to happen. It's honestly more Dalek Caan than Donna making all that happen.

This is NOT to say that I don't love Donna, but just to say that the fact that she had no romantic feelings for the Doctor doesn't automatically catapult her above the rest. Romantic feelings can lead to just as interesting, well-developed character arcs/complicated dynamics as platonic ones can, from the creator/created reciprocated question mark wanting but unable to choose each other over everything dynamic of 11amy to the fascinating destroying each other saving each other one taking all of the emotional toll but honestly craving that prophet-god relationship of 10martha to the shaping each other making each other kinder and braver reminding each other there is hope dooming and saving each other of 9rose to the full dooming each other but running straight at it full tilt because we are purposefully ignoring the turn back now signs of 10rose to the batshit insane codependent reflecting each other refracting each other who is Orpheus and who is Eurydice of 12clara to the there was always someone else in the room keeping us apart but you somehow became my whole world and I knew you from birth to death and we will never be anything more than a shut door of 13yaz to the you doomed me and saved me and you hate me but you might have loved me once and i will spend the rest of my life devoted to you dynamics of 10jack 11river and 12river.

Every relationship is interesting and personal preference might steer you in a certain way due the character arcs/ending preferences/etc., but elevating one over the other because the companion wasn't "foolish" enough to fall in love with the mad genderfluid alien in a box who ran away with you and stole you away to the stars doesn't sit well with me. Romance doesn't cheapen a relationship just as it doesn't automatically make it the ultimate relationship, either.
