-Heavy's really sweet when it comes to helping you with managing your anger.
-You discuss and communicate lots of things beforehand, such as whether or not you'd like to be touched/physically reassured or your tells when you're beginning to get into an irritable mood.
-If you are comfortable with physical contact when you're in that type of mood, he'll gladly run gentle circles over your back and/or play with your hair. He'll cuddle/hug you if you're comfortable with the pressure, too
-If he can tell that you're beginning to get irritated, then he'll do his best to subtly take you away from whatever's irritating you. If it's a person that's being rude, he'll try to help you out, but will absolutely have your back if the person is being unreasonable.
-If you have a comfort thing, such as food, a plushie, a sketchbook, a texture, etc. be sure to tell him and Heavy will try to make sure to bring it to you.
-If you're afraid of getting to a point of hurting others physically or verbally, let him know. Pull him aside beforehand and tell him that you don't mean what you say. He'll do his best to de-escalate situations for you, and he knows you don't mean it when you say some things. He'll still love you no matter what. He knows you regret some things you say, and he doesn't hold it against you.
-That was actually one of the most terrifying moments, the first time your frustration had bubbled up and you weren't able to cool it down, so you ended up lashing out on Heavy. He'd semi-known you at this point, but you two weren't all that close. He'd made you a few sandwiches at times, and congratulated you on some nice kills, but he didn't go out of his way to be physically affectionate.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ──
One thing after another. This had been going on for days, and you could feel the bubble about to burst. Spilled your drink, the nib of your pencil wouldn't stop breaking, one of your favorite shirts had gotten a rip in it, and so much more.
But what pushed you over the edge was Soldier. He was getting angry at you for seemingly nothing. It started with him wanting you to join in on his excersice, but you knew you were better off not hanging around with someone that loud, as that could just be even more headache and frustration-inducing. When you had attempted to gently explain yourself, he called you lazy. Your two voices only raised from there as the two of you got way to close to eachother, either of you prepared for if the other were to start swinging. Heavy must've heard the two of you, though you hadn't noticed him until he grabbed you and soldier by the back of your shirts like cats.

"Enough."
It wasn't as loud as Soldier was earlier, but it was stern, and immediately shut the two of you up. Soldier finally marched off as soon as he was let go, and that left only you and Heavy in the room.
He sighed out, and attempted to give you a gentle hug. But as soon as his hands touched your sides you flinched and smacked his arms away.
"Don't touch me!"
You then looked up to catch his confused and.. Sad expression. He only wanted to help.
He sat down on the floor next to you and adverted his eyes.
"Sorry. Heavy shouldn't have touched without asking."
Then you regretted hurting him. Though, you're sure a small smack from you did no damage whatsoever to him, but the intent was still there.
You still weren't in the mood to have a conversation, but you needed to calm down; you needed comfort.
You sat down a few inches from Heavy's side. After a moment, you let your weight fall on his side.
A few minutes after that, you wrapped your arms around him- as much as you could.
"I'd... like that hug now, if that's alright."
He wasted no time in gently putting his arms around you and drawing light circles over your back.

Just saw ur lovely request are open once again, but I want to see some headcanons between zed and maynard when you- a former mercenary that left the war- comes back to check on the team- only to be terrified and creeped out by the surroundings.
And upon exploring inside- you find yourself to get lost upon the building..and when you saw a resemblance of your old teammate; engineer you couldn't help but be relieved..in a hurry you went over to him- and began to ramble and talk to him in worry..however you noticed something was off by the way he acts..he doesn't seem to know you..he seems surprised.. and when you call him dell- he even chuckles as if he finds it funny..
He offers you to go somewhere else- saying it's not safe- being lost and naive- you follow- making him actually lead you deeper inside.
You used to work here- why did this place suddenly became complex for you to wander around?
But then suddenly an another engineer appears and you panicked, raising your only weapon up towards them, but the engineer beside you stops you- taking the gun away from you.
You became confused- telling him there's an enemy right in front of you and he just laughs. You hear the supposed enemy engineer ask who you are- calling the engineer you first met- maynard and you became more confused and panicked as you realizes that this guy wasn't the same engineer you worked with.. and well.. this rambling could go even further with them trapping you inside the conagher slaughter house.
I 100% forgot you wanted this "headcanons" style, and drafted the entire oneshot before I Realized. I hope that's alright with you! Thank you so much for the request, I really hope you enjoy.

You thought you knew your way around this place; you'd been around these parts plenty of times before. Sure, some years had passed, but that didn't explain how utterly lost you felt wandering Dustbowl. You ditched the war ages ago to find your own way in life, and you were content with that. It wasn't until recently that you decided you wanted to catch up with your closest friend from your time serving, Dell.
As a Sniper, you didn't interact much with the Engineer, but it wasn't your time on the battlefield you remembered fondly. It was his warmth and kindness at the end of the day, how excited you would get meeting up with him and the rest of the team for breakfast every day, despite knowing the grim work in store for you later in the day, and all the other moments of levity during such a dark time in your life. He was a good man, much too good to be stuck fighting the war.
The flashlight's beam did little to cut through the intense darkness overhead, and you could tell rain was due any minute now. You expected navigation would be tricky, but this was absolutely futile. The longer you wandered, the more your brain fog intensified, making you feel like a small child lost in the dark looking for their mother, jumping at shadows and fearing the sound of wind whipping overhead was the voices of ghosts.
Mindlessly, you fiddled with the strap securing your rifle to your body. Passing by a reflective window, you did a double take, catching your reflection. Looking down, you realized you were in your old Sniper's uniform. You could've sworn you came here dressed in civilian clothes when you departed, but frustratingly, you couldn't remember for sure.
In the distance, thunder rumbled, the storm was closing in, and you needed to find your way to proper shelter. Feeling a light rain against your face, you picked up the pace, trying to find any signs of life nearby, and to your immense relief, after rounding what felt like the hundredth nondescript dark corner, you spotted a light on, and could just make out the blurry details of Dell's old workshop. Running closer, you smiled, seeing the silhouette of someone inside tinkering away. It just had to be Dell!
As you sped closer and got a better look at the workshop, annoyed slightly by the fogged glass obscuring your vision keeping you from seeing inside, but you were too excited to see him again to care much.
Knocking on the door, you yelled, "Dell, open up!"
Watching a silhouette draw closer to the door, you were confused as he stalled for a moment, "Dell, will you let me in! It's freezing out here!"
The door creaked open, and Dell stood stiffly, without hesitating; you wrapped both arms around him, hugging as close as you could, almost sobbing with happiness after finally finding a familiar face around here.
"It's good to see you again! I missed you so much!"
Awkwardly, he patted your back and returned the hug before pulling away, staring at you with an almost blank look. "Sniper?"
Forcing a smile, you tried to ignore how uneasy he was acting, "C'mon Dell, it's me- we fought together for years. Don't tell me you've forgotten already?"
With an odd look on his face, he nodded, a strange smile spread across his face, "Course I remember ya, that's right- it's me, your ol' buddy Dell. It's been a while since I saw your face- whatcha doin' 'round here?"
He was acting weird, but it had been so long since he'd seen you face to face, and you didn't want to say anything. As he let you inside, you couldn't ignore the mess around the workshop. Dell could get buried in his work more than anyone you knew, but he was never so sloppy before. Beer cans littered tables, cigarettes piled over in ashtrays, and countless grease stains streaked across the tables and walls. You had to force yourself to keep from recoiling at the smell of stale air and debris. Seeing your old comrade out of uniform was odd, even if he still dawned the hard hat and goggles. Did he get taller after the war? You wondered but didn't want to ask out loud.
He noticed your staring, even if you were too meek to say anything definitive. With a hearty laugh, he pulled you into a crushing bear hug, "Good to see ya again, partner. It's been awful quiet 'round these parts lately."
You wanted to pull up a chair and catch up, but you couldn't forget the nightmarish terrain you crossed to get here. Pushing away from the hug, biting your lower lip nervously, you spoke, "Dell, I think something's up. We gotta get out of here."
Dell didn't seem to notice how bleak things were outside his shop. "This ol' place? I've been living under this roof since day one… It ain't been that long since you ditched the war." He gave you a cheeky smile, "Don't tell me you've already forgotten this place."
He was right. Objectively, you were fighting in the war just a few years ago, and there was no reason for you to have already forgotten so much. It didn't make any sense. Too insecure about the bizarre amnesia and brain fog to confess to either, you didn't respond, watching Dell cautiously nodding. Dell sighed, "I'm a might busy now, but I can walk with you for a while; I reckon I can take one night off. Help ya outta here an' all."
Stepping away a bit, you expected Dell to lead you back outside, but to your surprise, he drew further into the workshop, bringing you to the door attaching the shop to the rest of the warehouse. He opened the door, holding it open for you as you paced onward. It didn't make sense to you that this could be the way out, but Dell was your friend, and you trusted him. And it wasn't like you had any better ideas.
The two of you shuffled forward in a slightly awkward silence, you couldn't ignore how different everything looked from how you remembered it. How could everything have fallen into disrepair so fast? Windows were shattered, and walls were fractured by massive cracks, it was like the place had been abandoned for at least a decade. Things were run down, broken, and you tried not to consider the possibility you'd somehow stumbled onto enemy territory. You reasoned it was only a matter of time before you saw something you remembered, and if it were the enemy base, surely you'd have gotten yourself shot by now.
Dell broke the silence, "You came all this way to see me. You still talkin' with the others? Any idea how they're holdin' up?"
He sounded so disinterested; it was hard to imagine someone like him hadn't kept up with the others back home, if there was one person to be "a friend to all", it was Dell."I'm not so sure, actually. It's been getting quieter and quieter on their end… I just- I uh, really wanted to come and see you before you went silent too…"
Dell looked over his shoulder to smile at you, but this was an expression you'd never seen from him before. "Well, aren't you just the sweetest thing." Something was seriously off with him, but you couldn't put your finger on it.
You were so unsettled you didn't know how to respond, keeping your head down and hands mindlessly fumbling with your gun strap, trying to hold onto the hope this would all be over soon.
"To get outta here, we're gonna cross someone who don't take kindly to trespassers. But hold my hand, and I promise I'll getcha through." He extended his un-gloved hand for you to take, a kind gesture, but not one you were too thrilled to accept.
Raising an eyebrow, you responded, "If it's just one guy, I think I can defend myself just fine." As you spoke, you tapped the tip of the rifle strapped to your back with your fingernail.
Dell looked like he was trying to stifle a laugh, "Buddy, don't wanna do that, trust me. Ya ain't gonna win a quick draw against him." Once again, he extended his hand palm-up for you to take, which you reluctantly accepted. To your slight relief, Dell's hands were at least as warm as you remembered. It wasn't much, but you found it comforting.
You were thankful Dell didn't try to rush. Matching your feeble pace and walking close enough beside, you could almost feel his hip pressed against your own. "Is it Spy? Is he still around?"
Dell snickered, "Nope."
You continued walking by his side for a while without saying anything. Listening to the sound of your own footsteps against the creaking floor, trying to ignore the other noises of the house. The rain pattering against the windows, which rattled in the wind. Even creepier, you couldn't ignore the unidentifiable sounds from below the floorboards, sounding almost like someone moaning in pain. You could've sworn you could hear whispers coming from behind the dark corners, but you knew there was no way anyone else was around. Inner reason told you it was just your mind playing tricks on you, but you couldn't help but whip your head toward the voices to catch someone there, but no one ever was.
If Dell could hear the moans of pain or the hushed voices, he didn't say anything. As you walked, he ran his thumb in soft, slow circles against the back of your hand to try and comfort you. He hummed a little under his breath as though trying to minimize the creepiness of the place.
When you were about to ask how much longer until you found a way out, Dell stopped at another door. Remarkably sturdy looking and well-maintained compared to the shabbiness of the rest of the house. Given how heavy and industrial it appeared, it hardly resembled a door, looking more like the entrance to a bank vault. "This is it. He's right in 'ere. Don't let him scare ya. He's all bark and no bite… Sort of."
You were too tense to ask precisely what he meant by that, giving him a single nod in response, pressing your lips together into a hard line, tightening your grip against his hand. Stealing your resolve with a deep breath, you had no idea what lay in wait behind the door, but you were ready to tackle it head-on if it meant getting out. Pulling a tarnished silver key from his top pocket, Dell unlatched the door, stealing a quick glance your way before pushing the heavy door open.
You weren't ready to see what was behind that door, let alone confront him. The sight of another Engineer covered in fresh blood, chunks of carnage clinging to his overalls, and cleaning his tools, which were just as drenched in gore as he was, made you lock up with fear. The smell of carnage and motor oil almost made you wretch, and it took all your strength to keep from covering your eyes or screaming.
Two Engineers at the same base was confusing enough, but seeing one of them drenched in blood off the battlefield made you even more horrified. They both looked so much like Dell, but you knew with a sinking realization neither of these men were the Engie you knew and cared for. The other Engineer looked up at his twin, only then noticing he wasn't alone. "Who the hell is that?"
He shot up from his seat, ready to dart in your direction. Instinctively, you drew your weapon and were prepared to aim at the other Engineer. Your hands shook badly, and you knew you'd miss him if you tried to fire, even at such a close range.
Before you could even raise the crosshairs to your eye, you felt a heavy hand on your shoulder, pulling you protectively closer to his body, effortlessly yanking you from your weak stance, speaking in a louder but not quite aggressive voice. "Hey, easy there- don't do anything stupid now. We're just here to talk."
You weren't sure if he was talking to you or the other Engineer, but thankfully, he stopped where he was, keeping one hand planted on the gun attached to his belt. "Don't do anything stupid? Maynard! What the hell are you doin' bringin' someone up here!?"
Confusion slowly began to dwarf your fear. Keeping a tight hold on your gun, you lowered it a little more, whispering under your breath, glancing at the man beside you out of the corner of your eye, "Maynard?"
Despite the hostile situation, he grinned and winked, "Charmed to make your acquaintance, partner."
The other Engineer was far less amused. "Maynard, answer me! You got a hell of a lotta explainin' to do, brother!" It was too dark to see his face, as though you could even really see him under the hard hat and glasses, but his voice was more than enough to make you go stunned and silent.
All rational was gone. You could only think about getting out of this awful place. You tried to turn on your heel and break from Maynard's grip, but he was even stronger than he looked, keeping you effortlessly pinned in place.
A pair of bulky arms hugged you from behind, wrapping around your belly, pulling you securely against a chest broader than you remembered Dell's being. You felt the hairs on the back of your neck prickle as you were forced to fully realize how close the stranger was and how far away from safety you were.
Sure, you were scared before, but Dell was your best friend, and you'd follow him anywhere, but this wasn't Dell, and now you were in the clutches of something much more nefarious than you had expected.
Leaning close to whisper in your ear, you heard the stranger speak, "You weren't runnin' away on me now, were you? You wouldn't leave me all alone in here, would ya, darlin'? And here I thought we were getting along so well." His hug from behind tightened noticeably as he hissed that last part into your ear, crushing the air from your lungs. Your eyes widened, watching the other Engineer stalking closer. He looked so much like Dell, but you knew this wasn't him, the similarities making him all the more terrifying. The other Engineer didn't once take his hand from his gun, but at least he wasn't yelling anymore. "The hell are you doing here? Just who the hell-"
Maynard raised one hand to silence the other Engineer, who complied through grit teeth, and you could only imagine the enraged look on his face under his goggles.
"Relax, Zed, this one is harmless-"
Zed fumed, "Don't tell me to relax, you lazy bastard! You bring a surprise visitor this deep into the house with a gun pointed at my head! And you want me to relax!?"
You paled, listening to Zed confirm what you'd feared all along. You weren't being led the way out. You were following blindly even deeper into enemy territory, brought all the way into his den without even trying to fight back. You couldn't even call it your old base anymore. Where you stood now was his turf. Any pathetic, fleeting hope of escaping this bizarre place vanished the instant the words left Zed's mouth. Tears of hopelessness stung your eyes, threatening to spill as you heard Maynard's deep, unsettling laughter rumbling behind you. Too scared to move much on your own, you managed to buck forward suddenly, wriggling free as his arm detached from around you, forcing you to support yourself with shaking knees, holding your rifle to your chest with white knuckles, breathing rapidly.
Maynard took a half-step away and smiled reassuringly before extending a hand your way. In a faux-soothing voice, though with a note of condescension, as though he were speaking to a small child, "You heard the man. Hand it over."
The mere sight of Zed standing close by, staring you down with complete vitriol, made you hesitate. Your situation was hopeless; anyone could see that trying to hold onto your gun would likely give you more trouble than anything else, but still, you were too scared out of your mind to think clearly.
Seconds passed like hours as Maynard stared at you with that creepy smile, "Don'tcha want this all over with? Just hand me the gun, buddy. That's all ya gotta do." You looked back between Zed and Maynard like a hunted animal.
"C'mon now, Don't make me take it from you," Maynard warned, sounding a little too excited to enforce his own threat. Swallowing the lump in your throat, with unsteady hands, you complied, turning over your only means of defense to the stranger. Your sniper rifle was more than a gun. It was an extension of yourself, and handing it away felt like a severe betrayal.
Without a second thought, the Texan smiled, accepting your weapon into his own hands, holding the thing carefully in his hands, and seeming to admire the firearm before smashing it into the cement wall beside him. The sound of metal against cement rang out like a gunshot, making you yelp, watching your precious gun get smashed to pieces.
Maynard took a few more good swings against the wall before dropping the battered rifle to the ground, giving it a steel-toed stomp for good measure, beaming at the sound of metal breaking apart and shattering beneath his foot.
Maynard looked at Zed with an almost chipper smile, "See, gun's gone now. I told ya that one's harness, didn't I?" Unable to look away, you stared down at your poor gun, not even flinching as Maynard slung an arm around your shoulders, pulling you back into his chest.
Zed appeared unphased by the brutal display, nodding at the sight of the broken weapon, at last moving his hand from his holster, crossing his arms over his chest. "I see. But I wanna know why you brought a hostage all the way up here. I know we got more than enough room in the bunkers-"
Maynard interrupted, squeezing you a little tighter, "Not a hostage. A guest, this one's an old friend of Dell's." Turning his head to face you, uncomfortably close, Maynard asked, "Dell ever mentioned he had brothers to ya before?"
You winced hearing his name. You didn't want to upset your captors more than they were, but you honestly had no idea what was happening, so you shook your head.
Maynard sighed, "Looks like our baby brother didn't spend much time missin' the folks back home. Typical youngest sibling', he thinks just cuz he's the golden child, he can leave the rest of us behind."
You were almost too scared to ask; you just had to know. "Dell is still alive… Isn't he?"
Maynard frowned, "Well, he ain't come our way in a long time. But I know he's out there. He'll be back soon… An' I know you'll be good an' help welcome him home, won'tcha?" While he spoke, his fingers began to drum over your shoulder, playing with the fabric of your shirt between his fingertips. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Zed watching you like a hawk, not moving from his position several paces away, likely still ready to blow your head off at a moment's notice.
Trying your hardest not to let him see how his touch made you shudder, you mumbled, "How long? How much longer till he's back?"
Maynard sighed, shrugging, "Well, tough to say for sure. We've been waitin' on a visit for ages now, but ya never know with him."
Your face fell, and your head dropped forward, not wanting to give Maynard the satisfaction of seeing you cry. Ruffling the top of your head with his gloved hand, he muttered, "Hey now, don't cry, it won't be so bad. We'll keep you nice and safe. I always did like a little company around here."
Maynard looked past you to talk to Zed, "Just give us a few. I'll get 'em settled in and be back to work."
Zed huffed but didn't say anything to stop his brother, allowing him to walk past where he stood to the hallways connecting personal quarters to the den. As he passed the threshold out of the den, Maynard laughed a little to himself, "Yeah, sorry 'bout him. He's always a lil' cranky 'round strangers."
If that was Zed being cranky, you didn't want to know what he looked like when he was really pissed. It wasn't long until Maynard stopped at another doorway at the end of the hall, which creaked harshly when pushed open.
So this was where he was leading you all along, his bedroom. Somewhere so deep in the heart of the house, you didn't have a prayer of finding your own way out. You let Maynard lead you to his bed. He sat you down on the blanket, drinking in the scared look on your face with great satisfaction.
"I gotta take care of a few more things, but I want ya to stay here; keep the bed nice and warm for me. I'll be back before ya know it."
You didn't say anything, too disgusted to even look him in the eye, but you could hear him chuckling at your adorable stubbornness, "What's the matter, partner? Got nothing to say?"
Still refusing to look at him, you mumbled. "You were never going to take me home. You lied to me."
Using his human hand, Maynard brushed the side of your cheek with the pad of his thumb, curling his other hand beneath your chin to tilt your head up to look at him.
"I promised to get you outta the workshop. I never promised to take ya home. But hey, it's gonna be ok, darlin', Don'tcha see? You are home now."
Biting your lower lip to keep from sobbing, you could feel your face trembling to keep the tears in, "This can't be real. This has gotta be a dream…"
Maynard leaned down to kiss your head, muttering, "Ya really think this is all some dream, huh? That's cute. Go on and hold onto that hope while ya can. Ya ain't gonna have much hope left after I've had my way with ya."

I seriously don’t know how this “ask” thing works, but what do you think the mercs would do on a beach day? Beach days for fictional characters are always so silly
i love this i freaking love beach days. i had so much fun writing these
scout
- he is beelining for the water. he loves swimming and doesn't get to often so as soon as they get there he is in the water splishing and splashing
- refuses to put sunscreen on (that's for wimps) so he gets sunburnt to hell and back and medic has to slather him in aloe vera gel when they get back to base
- will not be waiting 20 minutes after eating the sandwich engineer packed him before he gets back in the water. will get a cramp and will act like it doesn't even bother him to impress miss pauling (she's here in my beautiful mind) she is not impressed and will try to get him to get out of the water
- accidentally destroys some random kid's sandcastle so he'll sit down with them to help them rebuild it
soldier
- trying to catch fish with his bare hands. hoping to catch a shark
- getting buried in the sand and a sexy mermaid body sculpted on top of him. likely demo is the one burying him
- swims over to the others as sneakily as he can (not very) and tries to jump them (they heard him coming but they play along)
- eats sand /j
pyro
- brought ALL of the sand toys. water is not their thing so they're building masterclass sandcastles with engineer
- after too long in direct sun he gets really uncomfortable so he's laying face down on a towel under a big umbrella. melting
- walks along the shoreline looking for jellyfish. they have a stick to poke them with. also picks up shells and brings them to people
- he helps with the sexy mermaid body sculpting for soldier
demoman
- goes way out into the water and just floats in one spot. staring
- he's wasted obviously so pauling and heavy are keeping a very careful eye on him. him getting caught in a riptide could really ruin the beach day
- enjoys laying out in the sun. will probably lay his towel out beside sexy mermaid soldier and they'll stare at the sky until one or both are asleep
- WILL start a game of beach volleyball with the others and WILL be on the losing team
heavy
- sitting with medic and miss pauling. he's not much for swimming, and he feels responsible for making sure the other mercs don't die (demo) (soldier) (scout)
- he and engineer prepared the picnic. they got up so early and made. so many sandwiches
- will be coerced into volleyball. absolutely fucking dominates and his team wins every match
- actually applies sunscreen like a normal rational person because he burns BAD. medic does his back <3
engineer
- second person in the water when they get there. scout screamed at him while he was running there to join him and he will always cave to scout pressure
- the water is really nice on his joints and swimming helps his back so it's a good time all around for him. i think he is in pain all the time btw
- makes sure everyone eats something and has plenty to drink. papa
- literally keels over laughing at sexy mermaid soldier. it catches him so off guard when he sees it and it makes him lose his shit. he'll think about it a week later and start laughing again. and nobody brought a camera so he only has the mental picture
medic
- swimming is sensory hell for him so he opts out. but he still enjoys the beach because he gets to watch his peers being idiotic
- referees the beach volleyball match. he doesn't know anything about volleyball (neither does anyone else really.) he's just happy to be here
- delights in the shells pyro brings him and he keeps all of them forever. he has a little jar of them in his office
- he and miss pauling had a miscommunication error in the planning and they both brought the same overpacked first aid kit so the team is. doubly prepared
sniper
- swimming very leisurely. i think he is a chronic pain sufferer so he takes it easy but it definitely helps ease some aches
- helps pyro get wet sand for his sandcastles so he doesn't have to keep getting up and down. brings him a couple pails of wet sand at a time and replenishes when needed
- absolutely falls asleep and gets a heinous sunglasses tan line
- absolutely terrible at volleyball but he plays anyways. he's on heavy's team so he gets to gloat even though he barely contributed
spy
- i really love the image of him being at the beach still in full suit. lounging on a beach chair with sunglasses on and a mimosa and one of those sun reflectors
- couldn't be bothered. he does not participate in any activities whatsoever except graciously receiving seashells from pyro (which he does appreciate. they're very pretty)
- might fall asleep a little bit. scout wakes him up to ask him if he should try some move on miss pauling. he tells him absolutely not and immediately falls back asleep
- somehow he doesn't overheat despite being in layers in the sun. magic man
~
keep the requests coming :3 love you guys

TF2 Drabbles: RED Engie/BLU Spy - I Want To
Summary: It would be nice for someone on RED to strike up an awkward friendship with the Spy head. Shippy or not, I think it'd be a good(?) time. The man is miserable let him have something.
~
Finding out why the BLU Spy was missing from the battlefield had been an accident. Engie had just happened to wonder in at the right time to catch Medic in a rush to put something back in his fridge that he clearly didn’t want Engie to see. Engie was more than smart enough to pretend he hadn’t noticed anything, coming back later to check.
His first instinct had been to put a stop to the experiment. But getting on Medic’s bad side was unwise. And after how long he’d been missing for he likely was marked as permanently dead or AWOL, either of which might have gotten him removed from BLU Respawn’s data base. Engie couldn’t exactly waltz over there and check or do anything to fix that should it be a thing while the whole rest of the BLU team was present. So he bided his time.
He did what he could to make Spy’s life more bearable; taking him out of the fridge to talk to him and give him cigarettes. It probably didn’t help as much as he would’ve liked given that he could only come in when Medic was away, so mostly at night. But he finally had stopped asking Engie to kill him so perhaps they were getting somewhere… or he had just given up.
Either way Engie was glad not to hear a request for death upon opening the fridge. Instead Spy said a halfhearted, “Howdy,” in imitation of him. He looked about as tired as one would expect. Hopefully soon though that would change.
“Howdy,” Engie returned with as much cheer as he could muster as he reached in to grasp the device at the base of his neck that kept him alive. Pulling him out he placed him on the nearby table. It’d be nice to bring him back to the workshop but he only dared do so when Medic was all the way away from the base which he currently wasn’t.
Engie pulled out his pack of cigarettes. After putting one in Spy’s mouth he lit it before pulling one out for himself. He couldn’t lie to himself anymore, the fancy expensive ones were indeed much better than the kind he used to buy before Spy had started insisting he get better ones.
As they smoked Engie caught him up on the goings on of RED and what he knew of BLU. Such had become their routine and thus there wasn’t much new to report so he added in what he’d read in the Tuefort Times he’d read a couple days ago too. Not that that was very interesting but it certainly had to be better than the inside of Medic’s fridge.
Eventually their cigarettes burnt to nubs. Engie snuffed them out in the ash tray he’d brought. Always he was careful to never leave any trace of himself behind. When he was done he looked back up at Spy. “So, the holidays are coming up soon. Meaning both teams will be getting off soon to head home. Medic say what his plans are for ya?” Another reason Engie couldn’t easily do anything about the situation was because Spy’s device needed to be routinely refilled with whatever liquid ran it or he’d die.
“He’s hooking me up to a new device of his that’s supposed to not need refilling as often. I suspect I’ll die.”
“He’s leaving you here?”
“Yes.”
“Perfect.” Exactly what Engie had been hoping for.
“Yes, wonderful. I’ll die alone in a fridge when the healing beam inevitably fails or runs out of juice halfway through the holiday season. Perhaps if I’m really lucky, I’ll last until Christmas. Wouldn’t that be nice?”
Engie wasn’t always the best at picking up on sarcasm but that certainly had to be what Spy’s tone was dripping with. And who could blame him? Not wanting him to get his hopes up too high if Engie couldn’t deliver anything, he hadn’t told him any of his ideas for solving this dilemma. Now was probably a good time to.
“Nah, if he’s gone and the rest of your team’s gone, I can head over to your base to try to make make sure you’re still registered in Respawn or put you back in if you’ve been booted from it for being gone so long, and that you’ll come back whole if you are. Or if I ensure of that, I’ve been…”
“I never considered I might not Respawn,” Spy interrupted. “I just assumed you weren’t killing me because you didn’t wish to anger Medic.”
“Well that too but mostly the former. I can handle Medic if I gotta. But anyway if I can’t be sure Respawn’ll grab you, I’ve been working on a robot body to attach your head too. I need to be able to bring it in for some tests and I’ll have to figure out what the device keeping you alive runs on and figure out how to replicate it. Which I’ve also already begun work on.”
“Why are you suddenly going to so much trouble for me?”
“‘Cause I want to.” Engie never would’ve thought he’d go through so much trouble for someone technically his enemy either but he wasn’t going to tolerate this. Science was wonderful and he’d go to great lengths for it, including hurting and killing folk, but there came a point where it wasn’t for science anymore but just to be cruel. Medic had crossed that line here and so something needed to be done about it.
And once the possible ideas on what he could do about it had started occurring to Engie, he’d been too enamored with them to let them go. When looking at BLU Respawn he’d get to learn more about it without risking his own death safety net. Figuring out how to build a robot body was just a plain cool. And the healing juice no doubt had some interesting potential as well. Like he could add it to his dispenser so it could heal as well as give ammo.
Thus there was a lot in this for him as well but yes, his primary motivator was Spy. Somehow during these clandestine meetings he’d grown to enjoy his company. Whether that would remain to be the case once Spy had a body back remained to be seen. But right now Engie was determined to get them there, hopefully indeed over the holiday break.

KEEP COOKING if you do those darker scenarios i think sniper has the most appeal with how he’s already so good at juggling scary and chill
YESSSS IM BEING ENABLED
god bless you anon because im in the trenches for sniper too so this is EVERYTHING (my fig of him is watching over me as i type this--)
ill just drop some general hcs and ideas going from mild to more suggestive/darker as theygo on so bear with me
*revvs up the deep fryer*
obviously, if your one job and talent is to be a ruthless assassin and you are surrounded by eight (8) other deranged men, you'd probably end up a little off your rocker, too...especially when it came to the aspect of women, dating, and sex in general. EVEN more so, being cooped up all alone in a shooting blind almost all hours and in his camper, this would make him one of the scarier types--the detached yet depraved (honestly and deprived too) type. it's an interesting dichotomy, being that he's so intimidating, aloof, and in general jaded to the violence or gravity of his own thoughts/actions/desires, yet in practice while acting on those impulses, he loses his edge--fumbling with your exposed body while in restraints, like an inexperienced teenager.
you wonder to yourself, "why on earth would a sniper wish to interrogate me? they spend their time in the backlines, what would motivate one to do this?" and ill tell ya what, my dear reader, the fact that such a beautiful specimen such as yourself has been tied up, scared, and basically left free for the taking, he uses his cool demeanor to convince the other mercs why his interrogation tactics will fruit the most effective results.
interrogation starts off the opposite from what you'd expect--he's calmly asking your name, age, what you were doing the day you were brought to the base, as if trying to establish a false sense of security. your survival instincts and critical thinking lead you to believe so, and are hesitant to give in. but damn, if it's not the way he looks at you, half-lidded through tinted shades, it's that alluring voice, its charming Aussie accent like music to your ears--you slowly let your guard down--and that's when the hunter goes in for his prey.
don't expect him to be gentle, either. carelessly using his machete to cut your bindings off when he simply can't bear to limit his access to your body any longer, while lacerating your delicate skin in the process. he might even accidentally smear your own blood around and paint your skin as he grips you-- letting one hand roam freely as the other holds the now blood-stained machete to your skin, as if daring you to scream for help or even protest. what happens next is between you and Mundy, and from now own, he's got himself his own little toy to keep him entertained between headshots up in the nest.
(BTW IF YOU WANT A FULL BLOWN FIC I WILL TOTALLY WORK ON A SERIES WITH EACH CHAPTER BEING INTERROGATION WITH EACH MERC....)

Random sniperspy drabble i wrote wouaah
Spy was… well. He was a solitary person at heart. Secretive, reticent, unforthcoming. All of those and more. If you've talked to Spy, at least the real Spy, you would also learn he was quite bad at talking.
When it came to being other people, he could regurgitate the things that his victims wanted to hear. He could seduce any man or woman he needed to. Spy could talk to people just fine if it were someone else talking out of his body. But when his normal-brain took over… it was a mess.
Spy, more or less, was a bit of a mess.
That was fine. No one knew who Spy even was, no one would see that mess. It was all under the guise of a refined gentleman, an egotistical womanizing Frenchman, a perfect man. Life goes on, and Spy never lets a soul get close. In fact, he was sitting alone in his smoking room today. As far away as he could get from his coworkers. As far away as he could get from speaking. From being himself.
He wasn't much of a person anyways. He was more like… a marionette doll. A puppet. A blank slate, a faceless doll to project anything onto- it came free with his job. He opened his disguise kit, lighting a cigarette. He needed one if he really wanted to go down this train of thought. Closing his eyes, Spy retreated into his mind. Into that maze of thoughts, a limbo of emotions.
All his disguises, a museum of names and faces flashed behind his eyes. From Jacques to Roman to Elle, men and women he's pretended to be, all false, were like paintings upon a wall in which he based who he was off of. Spy didn't even have a name, at least anymore. He was just a Spy. It was sad in a sense, despite all these people that would fall to his feet in an instant, none of them knew Spy. The museum of Spy was crowded and flooded by infinite faces and identities. Entire lives liven, only to be abandoned and never touched. He felt sick, trying to erase those identities from his mind. As if the world itself was spiting him with images of ex lovers and ex identities. families and -
Memories this time flashed behind his eyes. Instead of portrait paintings, they were scenes. Scenes of things he's done with people who swore up and down that they knew him. Dancing with an ex lover he was to assassinate a month later. Singing to a child he was temporarily the step-father of, only to walk out. Playing baseball with Scout of all people, only for him to leave a few weeks later. It was sickening, those memories that he worked so hard to hide and forget yet always tipped over the metaphorical cup of secrets he hid.
All these paintings, faces, memories, people who he loved, people who he killed, surrounded the identity known as Spy, and yet, no matter how hard he tried, he would never be kno-
His spiral of thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "Hey Spook." Ah, the bushman. Silence fell between them for a second before Sniper spoke up. "Are you up for tonight?"
Ah, tonight. Spy completely forgot about their little agreement, one of physical matters. His mind was far too deep to be up for anything, pun intended. "No."
He heard a slight chuckle. "Aight. Ain't no problem. You doin' okay?"
It was Spy's turn to chuckle. "No."
"Do you wanna talk?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
Spy snorted. "Just because we fuck doesn't mean that you're obligated to my feelings, bushman." That cold exterior responded, the voice he heard a stranger to Spy.
"I was just offerin', like a good person would." Sniper retorted, most likely offended as just yesterday they shared a meal together while talking about Sniper's life. That was too close. Too romantic. Spy needed to distance himself or he'd hurt Sniper.
A few more seconds of silence.
"Damn, spook. Goodnight then."
"Night, Sniper."
How deeply Spy wanted to connect, how he wanted to tell Sniper his life. His faces. His memories. Who he was, who he is. And yet, how unable he's to share anything about himself. He would not let the Sniper's portrait hang on the wall of failed ex lovers.
Looking at the mirror across the room, Spy wanted to vomit. That pale imitation of a person staring back made him want to hurl, yet all he did was smoke more.
[Epilogue:
"My apologies for snapping at you last night. I had a rough day."
"It's fine." Sniper lied. Spy could tell it was very much not fine.
"Let me make it up to you?"
"Okay."
"Okay.
They were fine. They'd be fine.]

Siphons aka "The Blood Sucking Robots"
Tumblr media
((Like how c!Heavy said. ))
A type of robot that is able to filter australium out of someones bloodstream...and kill them too - which is an unfortunate side effect....
Siphons operate by inserting their sharp feelers into major bloodvessels , draining the blood of their target , filtering the australium and ejecting the rest.
Siphons were modeled after Grays own life extender build by Radigan Conagher. The large feelers located where the pump connects with Grays body.
Tumblr media
However due to a drop in australium levels in the general public these robots never got used outside of being Misused. Generally speaking having used them on the broad public of australian citizens with low australium levels would have yielded next to no result.
They are incredibly fast and efficient , able to drain an average person in less than a minute , essentially killing you before the pain of being stabbed registeres fully. (He does consider himself quite a philantropist from time to time)
However it makes you wonder what he could have done to Hale if Hale had not taken him up on the mann co challenge....

so this drabble doesn’t really fit anywhere nor is it long enough to get it’s own fic so here’s a short little thing between Sniper and Scout about lemonade. hope u enjoy
Sniper wasn’t entirely sure how it came about, but at some point, the mercenaries had somehow gotten to talk about their local slang. Which lead to some horrified revelations. Mainly from Scout.
“Wait- you call Sprite what?”
“Lemonade,”
Scout was currently standing up. He had to sit down pretty soon after. Sniper smirks behind his drink.
“But- but it’s Sprite,”
“Well aware of that, mate,”
“But it’s not- what do you call lemonade then?” Scout asks
“Lemonade,” Sniper says with a shrug.
“How do you know the difference??”
“Context clues,”
“What if there’s both? What if you’re deciding between lemonade and Sprite??”
Sniper thinks for a moment. He scratches his chin as if deep in thought. And then he finally opens his mouth with a deep breath, as if he’s going to give a long, eloquent answer…
…But then he just takes another sip from his drink, accompanied with a shrug.
“What do you MEAN,” Scout gives an exaggerated shrug.
“I mean,” Sniper shrugs again. “I just never really thought about it before. Plus, not really a lot of places that offer both lemonade and lemonade.”
“That- that sounded so fucking dumb. You’re aware of that, right? How dumb that sounded?”
“How what sounded?” Sniper is fully aware. He just wants to egg him on.
“You- okay say it with me. Sprite,”
“Lemonade,”
“No,”
“Mate, that’s just how things are. I don’t know what to tell you,” Sniper says, leaning back.
“Yeah but that’s- that’s dumb! Why’d you make it like that!” Scout exclaims, throwing his hands up in confusion. Sniper pauses. He leans back forward.
“Are you asking me,” he says slowly. “Why I named it lemonade.”
Sniper can see the realization on Scout’s face how dumb that sounds. “Yes.” He decides to double down anyway.
“I had no control over that,”
“Well why didn’t you?!”
Sniper pauses. “Good question,” He decides not to go into it. Scout stares at him.
“Okay. Slowly. Sp,”
“Sp,”
“Ri,”
“Ri,”
“Te,”
“Te,”
“Sprite,”
“Lemonade,”
“You’re fucking with me,”
“Glad to see you figured it out,”

Hii maybe some fluff helmet party (engineer x soldier) I love them!! :))
Oh hell yeah!!!
Okay so I'm gonna write these is a head-canon format so that I can get it all out :)
Engie's a hard working guy.
Like really hard working. and he overworks himself a lot.
Contrary to popular belief, I think that once the day's work is done Soldier is actually chill. Aside from the screaming and the lead poisoning. But in the military, time off is time off, so I think Soldier would defo be the kind of guy to kick back with the boys.
Now this creates a problem
the problem being that Soldier is relaxing and misses Engie, while Engie is totally lost in all his work.
So- cue Soldier marching into Engie's workspace and walking right up behind Engie.
"MAGGOT! You are working during leisure time! This is surely un-American! I order you to cease production IMMEDIATELY!"
Of course Engie, being a chronic workaholic, would sigh tiredly and make a number of excuses
"I'm almost done." Or "Five more minutes hon, I swear."
Soldier is not buying it for a second. So, rather than waiting for Engie to come around or trying to convince him Soldier just- picks him up.
Just straight out the chair, bridal carries him up to Soldier's room. (Cause Engie's room is full of more projects and the whole point is to get him away from work.
Of course, Engie is protesting the whole time. Even as Soldier takes off Engie's goggles and his hardhat and sets him down and gets their pajamas out of the closet.
"Come on Honeybee, just let me go finish. I promise we can cuddle after." and such.
And Soldier is not having it.
"No! Leisure time is for leisure Maggot! You will rest! You will need it for tomorrow!"
And finally, wrapped in Soldier's arms with no way out, Engie relents
"Fine. You win Sweetheart." as he presses a kiss to the top of Soldier's helmet.
"I love you."
"I love you too, Maggot!"

*boops your gas mask* hey, brought you a drink, it is hot out. Also brought a snack.
!!!!!
[[Nah 'cause that scene idea is adorable!!
Pyro, sitting out in the sun while the other mercs are doing their thing- legs out in front of them in a child-like sitting position. Engie might be working on a sentry, Scout's running around chasing whatever animal is unlucky enough to be near him, Heavy eating a sanvich and offering one to Medic who's just... standing there.. staring. He must be experimenting on something. Maybe he's checking everyone's reactions to the heat?
Either way, nobody's really paying attention to Pyro 'cause y'know, they figure Pyro doesn't care about the heat- or maybe it doesn't affect them? They've probably all unpurposefully decided that Pyro's not human.
Then you come around behind them while they're silently dying of heat, probably exhausted and kind of out of it so they don't really notice you until their gasmask is lightly pushed down and they hear a "boop!", only to look up and see you offering them a nice, cold drink. You know that they won't drink it in front of others, so they wonder why you even bothered.
Though, they really appreciate it and jump up to hug you and you notice after a second that Pyro kind of leans most of their weight on you- they sure must be tired. But before they can pass out hugging you, they quickly grab the drink and make a quick "thank you" gesture in sign language before running off to presumably drink in privacy.]]

“HUN!”
The urgency in your tone was almost the same as it’d be on the battlefield yelling for Medic, but it seemed odd that you had used a pet name. Either way, Lutz was running full speed - almost in a panic towards your voice, hoping you were okay.
He lays eyes on you, who has an adoably big grin playing on your features. In a hushed voice, you whisper-shout and gesture towards a mass of blankets:
“Look!!”
He walks over, hushing his footsteps absentmindedly as he walked towards you and his doves.
He gasps as he spots a few much smaller dove heads peeking out from the blankets that were nestled together. He quickly got supplies ready to take care of the tiny birds, wishing to make them as comfortable as possible. You occupied yourself by first washing your hands, then comforting the mother and father doves by gently petting them to soothe them. You offered reassuring and kind words, even if they had no idea what you were saying- it was the soft tone that mattered. You gently shushed and pet them with the tip of your knuckle as softly as you could, them letting out the cutest little sounds of comfort. The father dove snuggled into the mother dove, and you couldn’t help but aw at the scene.
Once all the babies and both parents were as safe and comfortable as they could be, all of them resting, you leaned into Lutz.
“What now, Love?”
“Now we name them! Would you like to name one? I was thinking Oskar and Herwig for two of them,”
You looked towards the babies, tilting your head as you leaned in a bit closer to Lutz. He kissed you on the hair and you couldn’t help the warm smile that crossed your features.
“How about... Keres?”
“Ooh! I love it, Täubchen!~”
He gently caressed your cheek as you looked up at him. His eyes held a lovestruck gaze. He was never one to like the idea of having kids… but maybe this made him feel like a real parent.
Like as if he’s part of a family with you.
With that, you wiped a tear he didn’t notice was forming- of course his doves having babies was emotional on its own too- but this made him feel all soft for you once again. He cherishes the moment he’s reminded how hard he continues to fall for you every day.

Oof sorry for another one but can you do something where engi and you have your first date together at his house, but you have a tiny bit of an odd feeling about him. He's very sweet, but almost overly nice. He offers to make dinner for you and you say yes, but what you don't know is that he put aphrodisiacs in your food.

You should've known better than to give in to the kindness of strangers. Well, perhaps not strangers, but the excessive displays of affection from your teammate Engie had long since worn out their novelty. You'd only been a member of the team for a few months yet, ever since then, Engie'd taken a certain special liking to you, something which bothered you right away. It wasn't your style to accept being fussed over by anyone, but no matter how you tried to politely push him away, he never seemed to take the hint.
What really surprised you was his latest act of kindness, inviting you to his place to share a meal together. A birthday dinner, his treat. You knew you never told him your birthday or anyone else for that matter, and you couldn't even guess how he found out or how long he'd known, and honestly, you weren't sure you wanted to know. You initially tried to politely decline, planning to make up some lie about plans to call family after work to celebrate. But he was stubborn, absolutely refusing to take no for an answer.
Something about his forwardness bothered you, but still, there were worse ways to spend a birthday, and you agreed to meet up at his place later that night. Giving you a comfortable amount of time to get cleaned up and changed out of your work clothes before you found yourself at the address he provided you earlier. Knocking at the door, you tried to ignore your rising anxieties and let yourself believe Engie was your friend and you had no reason to be so skittish. Perhaps a little too friendly sometimes, but not someone who would ever hurt you.
Engie held the door open for you as you entered, leading you through the kitchen; the smell of well-seasoned food cooking on the stovetop and roasting in the oven overtook you before you entered. While you'd never actually stepped foot in Engie's home, it looked exactly how you'd imagined. A cozy rustic kitchen with a wood stove, gingham-printed curtains and tablecloth, and a grand wooden table in the center, modestly set for two. You could hear the lazy strumming of some folk song on the small radio on the dark wood of the kitchen counter over the crackling of the low fire burning in the furnace on the other side of the room. Engie lived alone, but you knew he regularly invited family over; the dinner table alone could easily sit 10, but something about the sight of the massive table set for only two made it look so lonely, and you couldn't help but imagine how empty it must look set for only one as Engie was no doubt used to.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Engie's eyes following you as you made your way inside, and you wondered when was the last time he'd had non-blood-related company over. While you were still a bit uncomfortable with his forwardness, you wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe he was just nervous, and you had no reason to feel uncomfortable around him. He was your friend, an ally, surely not one who would mean you any harm.
You sat at one of the seats set for dinner, watching as he prepared two plates. Before he even opened the oven, the smell of Texan comfort food hung heavy in the kitchen and dining room. He kept the dishes he'd made in the oven to keep warm until you showed up, and judging by the considerable pile of dirty bowls and utensils piled by the sink, you reckoned he must've spent hours cooking. Watching from the table, you heard Engie humming as he pulled out a few deep dish bowls, unlidding them before loading up the two plates. He piled on roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, and thick cuts of meat you couldn't quite identify coated in a rich dark sauce, which were just the first things you noticed him dishing.
He said to you from over his shoulder, "There's biscuits on the table for you if you need something to nibble while you're waiting." Like you were even that hungry. But if the biscuits were half as appetizing as what he was dishing out, you were certainly tempted. You pulled one from the cloth-covered basket in the center of the table and bit into the still-warm biscuit, watching him approaching with two full plates in hand.
"I made sweet tea fresh this morning; care for a glass?" Before you could say yes, he was already turning back around to fetch the pitcher from the fridge.
"You really pulled out all the stops tonight, huh?" You were joking, though simultaneously were genuinely overwhelmed by his generosity. He just chuckled, and you thought you heard him muttering something under his breath along the lines of, "Anything for you."
For a few minutes, you chatted politely, listening to the radio, enjoying the home-cooked meal, and feeling the stress of the day melting away as you genuinely enjoyed the taste of his cooking.
"You made this all yourself?"
"Sure did! But it's all mamma's old recipes. You oughtta be thankin' her... How'd I do?" He smiled and tried to look modest, but the look in his eyes said, "I know it's perfect."
"It's amazing; she must've taught you well." You saw a light blush coloring his cheeks and the tips of his ears as he looked down with a big smile. You hadn't expected he would get so flustered over such a simple statement. Though now that you thought about it, Engie was a bit friendlier this evening than normal, which for him was saying something. Perhaps it was for the best you tried to leave now before he got too carried away. Pulling away from the table slightly, you pushed your plate forward.
"Well, this has been wonderful, but I've had enough. Thank you so much for all this; you're so sweet." To your surprise, Engie's smile faltered for just a moment.
"You didn't finish…" He didn't look mad, but his face didn't entirely mask his disappointment.
"It's been a long day, Engie, but I'm about ready to crawl into bed… You aren't upset, are you?"
He perked right up after you said, "Aw shucks, of course not! I understand! I'm not upset. I just hoped I'd get the chance to give you one last thing."
Engie stood from his chair before you could ask what he meant by this, pulling something from the fridge, hiding it close to his chest, and out of sight from you. While you didn't know exactly what he was hiding, you consoled yourself by acknowledging, at least, whatever it was; it must've been quite small. He fidgeted with the thing for a moment before shutting the door to the fridge.
Engie smiled sheepishly, turning around, holding on to a little teacup saucer holding a miniature cupcake so small it could fit in the palm of your hand. A single little yellow birthday candle flickering on top.
"Engie, I can't accept this-'' You forced a nervous laugh while you felt guilty for letting him spoil you with dinner earlier; the cupcake made you feel even worse.
"Sure I did; it's your birthday, ain't it?" He drew closer, depositing the little treat before you as the candle continued to burn, little trails of wax dripping down the sides. You were conflicted, feeling a combination of obligation to accept the gift he'd been saving for last and not wanting to take anything more from Engie after he'd done so much already. While you admittedly didn't eat too much of the dinner he prepared, just enough to show gratitude for his efforts and to keep him from noticing how you kept cutting up the food into tiny pieces, pushing them around on your plate. While you felt bad about wasting the food, you knew you'd be sick if you tried to force yourself to eat it all.
There was no way you could get away with doing that with this. But you had to admit, it was pretty cute, and you didn't have the heart to turn him down now that that cupcake was right under your nose. Closing your eyes briefly, you inhaled before blowing out the candle, wishing silently to yourself out of this charmingly claustrophobic kitchen as fast as possible. Pulling the candle from the top of the cupcake, you held it in your hand for a moment before taking a bite.
You could've sworn you felt an oddness in the cake's texture for a split second when you swallowed. The cake was denser than you expected but tasted just as appetizing as it looked; you finished the tiny cake in a few bites.
Engie smiled warmly, reaching over and squeezing your shoulder, "Happy birthday, buddy'."
You were about to say something when you felt a bizarre warm feeling in the pit of your stomach, not unpleasant, just a little tingly. You took a deep breath, repositioning yourself in your seat, feeling a bit hot under the collar out of nowhere. Clearing your throat, you thought maybe the cupcake went down wrong, and there was a perfectly valid reason you felt so heated out of nowhere, but internally you felt a twinge of panic.
If this were a sudden sickness, it was like nothing you'd felt before. You tried your hardest to keep composure, telling yourself this was all in your head, there's no way you were genuinely so suddenly weak out of nowhere, but your body wouldn't listen. Once again, you found yourself fidgeting in your seat, unable to find a comfortable position. So distracted by the warmth spreading from deep in your gut through the rest of your body you almost didn't notice how heavy your head felt or the dryness in your mouth. Placing both elbows on the table, you clasped your hands together, resting your head on top of your fingers to keep yourself from losing balance.
Fortunately, Engie didn't seem to mind, or maybe didn't even notice, how quiet you were as he cleaned up the kitchen, humming softly to himself along with the radio. You heard his footsteps close behind.
"I'll get this out of your way."
You cleared your throat again, nodding a silent "thank you" as he took the saucer away. While you knew there was something a little off about the taste of the cake, you couldn't put your finger on what.
Forcing yourself to take another steady breath, you scooted back in your chair a little bit to press your back harder against the back of the chair, rolling out your neck slightly as you started panting. Much to your dismay, however, this did nothing to extinguish the odd warm sensation in your gut, which felt like it was spreading so quickly to spite you. Thankfully, due to the room's low light, there was no way Engie could see the way your face had begun to heat up. You didn't know if you were blushing because of the new found warm feeling between your legs, the strain of trying to appear emotionless and unbothered, or the embarrassment of being caught in such a situation in the first place, or likely an unbearable combination of the three.
You couldn't stop fidgeting, unclasping your hands to grip the chair's armrests as you backed up a little harder into your seat. Under the table, your legs, already crossed, began to squeeze a little tighter together, and you had to bite the inside of your cheek to suppress a sound of frustration as you felt the skin of your breasts and nipples tingle a little, becoming more sensitive on account of whatever the hell it was going on inside your body."No, no, not the body- just in your head. It's all in your head; just take a few deep breaths, hug him goodbye, and you'll be out in no time. you've got this." You could feel your hands white-knuckling your chair's armrests as your head dipped forwards, eyes shutting as you tried to maintain composure.
By now, your breathing had become rapid, and while you knew it was best to keep your head back to let in as much oxygen as you could, you no longer had that kind of inner strength. The best you could do now was pant as quietly as possible as that awful warmth intensified deep inside. You were scared, wondering what the hell had gotten into you, but to a lesser extent didn't care and wanted nothing but to grind your legs together even harder or slip a hand between your legs. To do something- anything, to satisfy the awful neediness between your legs. There was no denying it now; you were wet for sure.
This was agony. Your jeans felt a size too tight, the cotton denim like sandpaper against your legs, chafing your poor sensitive skin, to say nothing of the inseam of your jeans you were painfully aware of against your clit. Swallowing hard, had no idea you'd been salivating so notably. While the intensity of your arousal began to plateau, focusing on anything else like this was impossible.
Before now, you tried to keep your eyes open, spotting against random objects you could see in the room to try and keep yourself grounded, but by now, your eyes were fluttering and shut against your will, and the room seemed to spin when you tried to focus on anything. The feeling of Engie's hand suddenly touching your shoulder, his fingers barely making contact, caused you to jolt fully upright in alarm.
You had no idea how he got back to you so fast, nor how long he'd been standing over you like that, but you were rendered functionally speechless in surprise, looking up with him wide-eyed, your neck still bent forward slightly, unable to support the full weight of your head, forcing you to turn your face to make eye contact, feeling pathetic as he looked down at you from this position.
"Hey, did ya hear me? Are you feeling alright? You're looking a little, uh… warm." It was hard not to cringe hearing him speak like that. Engie could sense you were extremely uncomfortable, but you silently prayed he just thought you were feeling ill. Trying desperately to convince yourself he couldn't detect your sudden unexplainable arousal. He knew something was happening with you, and it was humiliating to hear him trying to be so polite about it.
You managed to lean away from his touch; you tried to force yourself to straighten back up in your chair and were about to answer when a spontaneous throb of arousal caused you to tense up and shrink into yourself. Engie had to grab both your shoulders to keep you steady and prevent your head from crashing forward into the table. Despite this, you tried to wriggle away again but couldn't manage to shake his hold on you.
You can hear him saying your name, his voice heavy with worry, only making you feel sicker. But your head felt too fuzzy to speak, no matter how hard you try to respond. Your mouth won't work, and you were forced to stay held in place until you manage to center yourself well enough to answer. Taking a shaky breath, you speak in a rasp,
"I'll be fine; I just need rest." You hardly sounded like yourself, so trembling and hoarse.
"Honey, c'mon now, you can tell me what's wrong." He tried to squeeze your shoulders a little to relax you, but you only whined slightly at the feeling of his strong fingers, feeling so supportive and stable against your limp, overheated body. You knew if his hands were enough to make your head spin like this, you needed to get out as fast as possible.
"Engie- I'm going home now." Even though your words were slurred, you managed to speak clearly enough to express that much, still fidgeting in your seat to try and break free from his hold on your shoulders. Your eyelids felt so heavy, your face so warm, all you wanted to do was change into your pajamas and get a little sleep. Wanting more than anything to get back in your own bed and get rid of the awful burning inside your body. But thinking like that was dangerous, and you didn't dare let your mind wander while you were already feeling so turned on.
"You can rest upstairs in my room, c'mon lemme help you up."
"No!" Your eyes shot open as you tried to lurch out of his grip like a cornered wild animal; you were already scared, and thinking about what would happen if he brought you up to his room only made things worse.
"Don't take me up there! Wanna go home- please, please, not upstairs- I don't want to!" It was humiliating to hear yourself begging like a child being sent to bed early, but you couldn't stop. You tried to use your grip on the armrests to pull yourself away from Engie, but he was too strong, and all you would do was tire yourself out fighting like this. You couldn't tell if you were actually crying or if you just felt like you were. Trying to fight against the wicked desire quickly sapped all your inner strength; it hurt to try and keep up like this; you just wanted it all to be over.
"Hey, easy now, I've gotcha. I'm not gonna hurt ya-" Engie spoke to you like he was trying to calm a spooked mare. He let go of one of your shoulders to turn the chair you were sitting in away from the table so you were facing him before returning the hand to your shoulder. You were too embarrassed to look him in the eye, keeping your line of sight straight ahead on the wall behind him. Feel sick listening to him patronizing you like you were his little pet, not another grown adult, much less his own comrade.
"Then let go!" You meant to sound immature, but the meat you could manage was another childish pout.
"I ain't lettin' go. You're not looking too good there, honey; if I let ya go, you're gonna hurt yourself. I ain't about to let that happen." Despite having to physically wrangle you like this, Engie sounded as calm as ever. You whined as your muscles went limp, as you finally gave in and let him hold you upright.
"Engie, I don't wanna- Please, just take me home…." Surely he could feel how you continued to tremble under his hold, maybe even picking up on how your skin was practically hot to the touch, but you didn't care.
"Listen, I know you don't feel well, and you're lookin' even worse. My room is right upstairs; I want you to sleep in my bed until you're feeling better." Despite his syrupy-sweet voice, you still felt too disturbed to let your guard down.
"Don't make me go to your bed…" To your surprise, you could hear Engie laughing gently about this before feeling him help you up. You wrapped your arms around his forearms to help brace your weight a little while you struggled to find your footing before wrapping one of your arms around his neck, leaning entirely against him to support yourself. Your face was now painfully close to his, all while he merely regarded you with his easygoing smile.
"Aw honey, I wasn't gonna make us share the bed!" He winked before continuing, "Temptin' offer though it may be." Feeling your body pressed close against him like this was doing nothing to help your situation, you grit your teeth, forcing your face to turn from his to the stairs across the room. Without another word, he helped you make your way to the stairs.
A part of you wondered if he was going so slowly up the stairs to prolong your misery as long as he could; at least, that's what it felt like to you. You used one arm to grab his arm around your shoulders while the other white-knuckled the handrail; not once did his arms budge from either around your waist or from your shoulders, the side of his body crushingly tight up against yours. While the feeling of helplessness and discombobulation was wretched, you hated yourself for clinging so tightly against Engie, letting him lead you upstairs to his bedroom, despite your trepidation.
When the two of you finally made it to the top of the staircase, you were about to step foot on the second floor when you felt Engie mumble something into your ear as you bit down on your lower lip to keep from moaning at the feeling of his lips grazing against your ear, breath fanning over the side of your face, and tickling your neck without warning.
"Almost there now, honey. You're doing so good, just a little longer." You nodded, feeling as though your knees were about to give out at any second.
By the time you reached the doorway of Engie's bedroom, you didn't wait for him to get the door first. You turned the knob yourself and pushed open the door, too blinded by the idea of finally getting to lay down to worry about waiting to be invited in first. Engie helped push the door open wider as the two of you staggered inside. You refused to stop moving until you were in bed, and with almost drunken, unsteady steps, you finally found your respite, crashing into the soft flannel sheets the moment your shin connected with the edge of the bed.
Finally lying down, you lay, sprawled out on your back for a moment, giving yourself time to catch your breath. At last, you were lying down and in bed; nothing in the world mattered right now except for the cozy cotton sheets that provided you with a little nook to curl up inside of.
For just a moment, you felt better, the burning wasn't gone, but at least now it was a bit less uncomfortable.
"Usually, I'd make the bed before the company shows up, but you look pretty cozy down there. Are you feeling any better, darlin'?" You didn't answer; rolling onto your side, away from the side of the bed where he stood, you buried your head in the pillows, twisting the sheets and blankets in your hands, pulling them closer. Not exactly to cover yourself with, but just to have something soft and comfortable to grip onto, something much better than the hardwood of your chair's armrest. But it was more than that. Something about being in his bed like this felt so perfect like you were exactly where you needed to be in the universe. You were hyper-aware of Engie's scent trapped in the bedding, shamelessly nestling your face directly into it, wanting to feel it all over you. No matter how embarrassing it was to be watched in a state like this for a moment, you allowed yourself to indulge. Writhing into the blankets, using them to wick the sweat from your forehead and neck, nestling your head into the nook where the pillows met the bed.
You thought you could hear him chuckling from above, but you weren't sure, but the idea of him getting so much enjoyment watching you nestling into his bed made you self-conscious, making you whine in irritation, the sound almost entirely drowned out by the pillow. Still, the shame wasn't enough to keep you from wrapping both legs around the top blanket of the bed, spooning the fabric, feeling blissful but frustratingly unsatisfying on account of your jeans keeping the blankets from rubbing up against your bare skin. Despite the bed's softness, you somehow couldn't manage to get comfortable and couldn't stop from kicking and thrashing like a fish out of water. The smell of Engie flooding your senses was the only thing going through your mind, but it still didn't feel like enough. You could feel the bed dipping as Engie sat on the side of the bed, his hand against your shoulder, making you shiver and your nails dig into the blankets.
"Can't get comfy down there? You need me to grab you something to drink?" With a snicker, he continued, "Need daddy to read you a bedtime story?"
You frowned, looking up at him over your shoulder, "Don't talk to me like that."
"Aw c'mon, you know I'm only-" He tried to laugh it off, but for some reason, you found yourself more agitated than usual at his ribbing.
"You know what I mean!"
"Pardon?" He lifted his hand from your shoulder as you rolled from your belly to your side to look at him. Something about the awful heat coursing through you made you more brazen than usual, and you could not stop yourself from acting confrontational.
"I hate when you act like that- When you look at me like you know better than me! You're not responsible for me. I don't need you to take care of me!" His brow creased as he looked at you, hurt, confused, and completely taken aback by your sudden attitude. Your breathing was ragged, and it was hard to keep your voice from rising. You didn't know where this anger was coming from, but it felt as though you were finally telling him how much you hated when he babied you. The suddenness and intensity confused you, but the catharsis was there all the same. Telling him how you really felt. For so long, you'd been forced to be professional and mild-mannered around your comrade while he would condescend and coddle you; to finally bear your emotions like this felt damn good.
Engie tried his best to force a small smile to mask the hurt you could still see in his eyes, "I don't do this because you're weak; I never said you were weak-"
You laughed bitterly, "Right, it's because you're just such a nice guy; how could I forget?"
Engie spoke slowly, "I only do this because I care about you; I only want what's best. You know that."
"You don't love me. You love how being needed makes you feel!" By now, you were certain you were crying and weren't even really talking to Engie; now, you were talking to him. In your heart, you weren't really mad at him, but you hated how weak you felt when he prioritized you over the rest of the team. You slackened a little, pulling the blanket up to bury your head in it, sobbing. After a moment, you felt his hand putting the top of your head.
"Of course I love you-"
"No, you don't! You just want to protect the weak, isn't that right? That must be why you're always focused on me, right? I'm nothing but the weakest of the team to you! I'm nothing but a charity case; all you care about is making yourself feel better." You were helpless to stop all the awful insecurities you tried so hard to hide from the rest of the world from surfacing now. Engie huffed a little, moving his hand from your hair to your chin, forcing you to turn and look at him.
"So I'm the selfish one, is that it? I spend all this time with you, cook for you, let you sleep in my own bed, and that makes me the selfish one?" You had to bite back a moan at the feeling of his fingers gripping your face so tightly.
"You slipped me something, didn't you?" It was a surprise to hear your voice so level after screaming and crying. Engie looked more surprised than offended by your words but didn't say anything to his defense.
"I bet you did this, didn't you! Fucking hell, you'd do anything to be the hero- to just come to everyone's rescue. You don't care about me; I bet you don't even like any of the rest of us!"
His eyes narrowed. "Don't say that."
"That's the only reason I'm here, isn't it? You wanted to get me all alone, slip me God knows what so you could take me here and wait till it knocked out to start touching yourself over my unconscious body. You've been planning this, haven't you!" Despite your harsh words, Engie didn't look offended. Nothing worked, no matter how you tried to anger or convince him to kick you out. He merely sighed, face softening as his fingers gently caressed the side of your face.
"Let it out, sweetheart; you've had a long day. Just get it out of your system; you'll be alright." You didn't say anything in return, and for a moment, you wondered, "Would it really be so bad to let him have his way?" Your eyes drift shut as you feel Engie's fingers brush away your tears, smoothing back your hair. No matter how you tried to deny it, letting, him treat you like his little girl felt good. Why had you fought him back for so long? Now that you weren't fighting back, his touch no longer felt smothering but soothing. And you felt in that moment that he was the only thing in the world that could satisfy your desire.
"I'm gonna get you a change of clothes, just lay back." The bed creaked a little as he lifted himself from the mattress.
You spoke in a broken, pitifully small voice, "I shouldn't have said that."
"I know you didn't mean it." He was in the same room but sounded so far away you wanted him back in bed.
"It was still wrong to say.." As he returned to his perch by your side, you twisted in bed, laying on your side.
He smiled, "I forgive you." You wanted to say you didn't deserve it, but at the moment, you couldn't find the words; all you could manage to do was stare at him with puppy eyes.
"Do you want me to help you out of your clothes?"
At first, you were about to question why he was acting so brazen, but then you realized at some point during your fight you'd started to wriggle in bed nervously, mindlessly pawing at your bottoms, trying to pull them off while your fingers were too numb and awkward to work the buttons or the zipper. Time felt like it slowed down for a moment; the two of your eyes locked as you understood the weight of his question. You nodded.
"I need to hear you say it." Engie's soft voice is as assuring and gentle as ever, yet unmistakably firm. While you were putting up a fight for a while there, you both knew who was really in charge here. Forcing yourself to keep eye contact, you managed a "yes, I would." Engie's sweet smile betrayed his dirty mind.
"Roll back over onto your stomach." You didn't understand why he wanted this, but you immediately complied. You bit down on a pillow to muffle the sounds you made when you felt Engie's fingers find your jean's button, undoing it and pulling the zipper all the way down just as easily, while you couldn't help but whine and twitch at the feeling of his fingers brushing against your bare underbelly, and the sensation of his fingers over your clothed pubic mound for just a second as he undid the zipper. You took a deep breath after the zipper was undone, feeling the most relief you'd felt all night. He gave you a moment to breathe deeply before his hands made their way to the waistband of your jeans and, with a few tugs, pulled them past your hips as you kicked your legs to try and help him remove the awful denim from your body. Your thighs spread wider, blessedly now unrestricted against Engie's blankets while he looked down at the beautiful sight. You couldn't help but sigh audibly into the pillow; at long last, you were free.
"Shirt too?" You mumbled, but Engie understood what you wanted, grabbing the bottom hem of your top as he pushed it up and over your head with your bra while you slid your arms through the sleeves. Leaving you stripped down to nothing but your underwear. The feeling of his sheets, his smell now directly below your skin, felt heavenly, your tits perking up a little, still tingling from earlier as you rubbed yourself over the bed, breathing heavily in through your nose and out through your mouth. While Engie was more than excited to finally get a chance to get his hands on you, he wasn't about to rush you here.
You were entirely right to call him out for planning this, and despite a few snags along the way, the evening was shaping up exactly how he hoped it would. And while he expected your hesitation and your near-certain anger when you realized he was responsible for your current situation, Engie had every confidence that in just a bit of time, you would be thanking him for all this. All he had to do was wait, and for you, he'd wait forever if he must.
He trailed his feeling hand down the curve of your ass as you felt the rubber glove brushing against the swell of your hip. His fingers playfully drummed along the flesh of your ass while you shivered and bit down a little harder on the pillow in your mouth.
"I forgive you, and I love you- but you outta know how to watch that mouth of yours."
" 'M sorry, it won't happen again." You babbled, half talking to him, half speaking into the pillow. You weren't strong enough to look him in the eye, but you were just horny enough to tell him whatever he needed to hear.
"Oh, I'm sure it won't. But someone ought to teach you a lesson." You felt his ungloved fingers squeezing against the flesh of your ass, assuring you of exactly where his attention was. Knowing you had his full attention elicited another stir of excitement inside you.
"Mhm?" He spoke softly, but you could pick up on the dark edge of his words even in such an inebriated state.
"Maybe this is my fault. I've been spoiling you all this time, and I haven't even laid a hand on you." Using his gloved hand, he gave a little testing pat against your rear, not hard at all, but enough to make a sharp smacking sound fill the room. You sighed at the feeling; he was right; he was being too soft, and you needed more. Needed his attention now more than ever before.
You were about to say something, anything to urge him on, but he literally beat you to it, his glove slapping against your ass again, a little bit harder this time, forcing you to bite down onto his pillow to muffle your little shriek of surprise. The residual soreness didn't have time to set in fully before you felt another blow, followed by another and another and another. Not harder or softer, he set a steady rhythm for the two of you. You could feel the blood rushing to the sore area and couldn't imagine how red you must've looked.
It felt good to be used like this. To feel held accountable for taking advantage of "the nice guy" for so long. Now he wasn't going easy on you, and it was exactly what you needed. By accident, his hand struck a little closer to your cunt than he intended; maybe he didn't aim right, or perhaps you accidentally spread your legs too wide. You didn't know. In response to this feeling, you spread your legs even wider.
"Maybe I ought to bring you off the battlefield and back home with me. Set ya to work on the old Conagher farm. I know it'll do ya real good to get outta the city, give ya a 'lil perspective. You'd fit right in; I can see it now." He was mostly rambling to himself than actually speaking to you, but you followed along all the same. In any other situation, you'd never let him get away with implying he could so easily take you home and "tame you," but given how horny you already felt, you were ready to tell him everything he wanted to hear if it meant you would finally get some satisfaction.
"I'll go anywhere with you! Please, Engie, please keep going; I fucking need it! I-I need you so bad, Daddy!" You peeked your head over your shoulder and felt your heartthrob at the sight of his face softened with love and eyes twinkling like little stars. Good Lord, would you give anything to cum on that beautiful face of his. You weren't aware of the wet spot of drool he could see from where you were biting down on the pillow and the mess of spit around your lips.
He used his thick fingers to brush against the soaked fabric covering your sex; the feeling of at last getting a bit of friction between your legs made your head roll forward, crushing your face into the pillow, mindlessly rocking your hips against his fingers.
"You're gonna be good for me from now on? No more attitude?" He was moving too slow, intentionally shying his fingers away whenever you tried to get closer, mocking your neediness. While you were reduced to a wet, mindless mess sobbing incoherently, "Yes, I will! I promise I'll be good; I promise I'll be good! Please, Daddy, please, Daddy- I need it so bad, please!"
His fingers paused, directly over exactly where you needed them, his glove gripping the curve of your hip, keeping you from grinding against him, forcing you to remain painfully in place, the strain of staying in this position its own hell on Earth. "You promise you'll behave?"
Without missing a beat, you kept, "I promise!"
You can hear his proud smile without looking back at his face. "All right, darlin', if you promise." He sounded just like a proud father; no wonder he stepped into the role so well.
He continued to grope at your ass with his gloved hand, pushing your underwear to the side as he finally slipped his fingers inside. By now, you were practically too weak to keep grinding against him, but fortunately, you wouldn't last much longer. You felt like you were on edge for hours, and feeling Engie's fingers working their magic inside your body was that last little push you needed to send you over the edge. His thumb worked in sync with his fingers, a thick coating of your slick messily seeping from inside, helping him to go even faster.
You wished you didn't have to be on your stomach, Engie sitting off to the side, so far away. You wanted to wrap your arms around him, feel his naked flesh against your body, but inhaling his smell and grinding against his sheets would have to do for now. You spread your thighs wider as you felt yourself clenching against his fingers, your climax so close it hurt. Back arching as you mindlessly pushed yourself even harder against his fingers, the intensity building until you finally came. Seeing all white as relief washed over your entire body, the tension easing up as pleasant little after-shocks began to set in. The awful burning desire inside satisfied as you went limp, settling heavily into his bed with a heavy sigh.
By now, the sheets were dampened by your sweat, though you were too tired to care much, feeling no real discomfort while laying in a little puddle of your own sweat. While Engie's handiwork had mercifully taken care of the burning inside, you could tell your head wasn't quite clear yet. The loopy, needy feeling now morphed into comfortable drowsiness, making your afterglow feel all the sweeter. You winced a little while Engie withdrew his fingers and the vague sensation of your wetness sloppily trailing his hand. You could hear him wiping the slick off onto the bedsheets before petting the top of your head gently.
"Feelin' better now?" Your tongue felt too heavy in your mouth to formulate any words, but you nodded, making a quiet sound of affirmation while your head remained buried in the pillows.
"And what do we say when someone does something nice for us?" He sounded easygoing, but you knew he wanted a real answer out of you. Turning your head to rest a cheek on the pillow, you sleepily half-opened one eye to try and focus on him.
"Thank you, Daddy." It was a dull mumble of an answer, but it appeased him well enough. He ruffled your hair before you could hear the sound of Engie undressing, letting his button-up shirt and stiff work pants join your jeans on the floor. By the time he nestled up in bed with you, wrapping your limp body up with his strong arms, you were already more than half-asleep. Maybe the excessive fatigue was a side-effect of whatever slipped earlier. For a moment, you wondered if you would wake up with a hangover or not, but the thought left your head almost as quickly as it came. Even without the mystery drug in your system, it was certainly possible that your brain was better off trying to shut down and try not to think too hard about what just happened and even less about what the morning might bring.
Within your final moments of coherency, you could feel your body pulled against Engie's bare chest until you were close enough to rest your cheek against his flesh. He tucked your head under his chin as he muttered to himself.
"I wasn't lying' when I said I love you, honey. I love you more than anything else; I'd never lie about that."

Birthday Wish - Drabble Concept
——
Spy was no stranger to sitting on the roof, watching as the others ran about in the dark like idiots. Soldier and Demo had gotten ahold of water guns, running around and spraying everyone with ice cold water-which would have been nice if it was during the day but the deserts night was already freezing enough. Pyro ran around taunting the others. It’s was all fun and games until Heavy had found their bucket of ice water and threw it at them. This happened every time they all gathered outside for an event and it typically ended in them all hating their very existence the next morning.
The only difference to normal? Scout wasn’t out there bullying Spy into coming out of hiding and joining them. He wasn’t calling the Frenchman a coward and throwing water balloons at his hiding place. Instead, the boy was sitting beside Spy, legs pulled up to his chest and face hidden in his knees. For once in his life he wasn’t talking, him watching the others with a strange sadness. Spy finally sighed and lit a cigarette,”What’s wrong, lapin? I’m surprised you’re not spending your birthday with those idiots.”
Scout shrugged.
He took a deep breath of smoke, blowing it out in rings,”You never did tell us what you wished for. That’s not like you.”
The younger mercenary hesitated, turning his head away from Spy and mumbling.
“Speak up.”
“I wish ya actually bothered ta show to mah birthdays as a kid. Would’ve been nice to spend time with my Pa growin’ up.”
Spy’s throat clenched up, whatever smug response he had dying on his tongue. He looked away from his son quietly.
Spy wasn’t exactly expecting to be woken up early. Not with how much the others had drank the night before. They had even forced alcohol down his throat for crying out loud. And what he was expecting even less? To wake up to the sound of pure panicked, confused screaming.
“WHAT DO I DO WITH IT-“
“PA!”
“DON’ HOLD IT LIKE THAT, SOLLY-“
“PAPA!”
“DON’T HAND IT TO ME-ZAT ZING IS FILTHY-“
“I WANT MY PAPA!”
He sighed roughly and wrapped his blanket around himself, stepping out to see what hell had the audacity to ruin his precious sleep. And what he saw had him take a double take. Seven grown men stood around the common room table, letting out a series of confused screams and shouts as Soldier held a toddler out as far away from him like some rabies ridden wild animal. The toddler was squirming and screaming louder than all seven of them combined, face a brighter red than the massive shirt that draped over his body. The screaming child couldn’t have been older than four, tears and snot soaking it’s face.
“PAPA!”
He couldn’t have been older than four…the same age as when Spy left…Jeremy…
…Shit.

Hey Engie, I made you a sandwich, want sure if you forgot lunch, but I brought it to you, along with some water, and a cold beer.
Oh, now this's the perfect thing fer this heat wave!
(Also, s'it that obvious that ah forget t'eat?)
An' a nice, cold beer? Darn, this couldn't get any better!
(Ooc: I love the idea of this scene!! Engie, wiping sweat off his forehead as he continues to work his ass off despite being told by many mercs to take a break because of the heatwave. You walk in and he semi-turns his head towards you, keeping his eyes on his project just for a moment 'cause he's aaalmost done, while you wait patiently. He then gives you his full attention, and you go up to him and offer all this stuff. You see the smile on his face grow and maybe his face gets a tad redder, still unused to this kind of care. He really appreciates it! He probably puts the cold beer up against his cheek to cool himself down for a moment, the suits back and crack it open, placing his hard-hat on the bench beside him, next to the bottle of water and sandwich.)

TF2 Drabbles: Sniper & Pyro - Monsters
Summary: The funniest version of a monster au would be Pyro being the token human. Everyone else is secretly hiding that they're whatever they are and has zero suspicion (minus the obvious exception of Spy towards Scout, probably) about anyone but Pyro being nonhuman. Pyro? There's a damn betting pool about what they actually are. Not a cent put in towards being human, that's for sure
~
One by one, after years of living together in close proximity, their secrets had gotten out; none of them were quite as human as they’d pretended to be upon joining the team. Medic was a vampire. Heavy a yeti, stricken nearly hairless – by yeti standards anyway as he was still quite hairy for a human– by a genetic defect. Sniper a werewolf. Demo a selkie who liked alcohol and explosives more than the sea. Soldier a wizard’s magical familiar gone feral. Engie a sentient robot who’d built himself a body that appeared human in order to escape the facility he’d been created in. Spy a cecaelia, making Scout half cecaelia – though he didn’t know it yet – as well as half siren. Which left only Pyro as a mystery.
“There’s no way Pyro’s human, right?” Scout brought up when a handful of them were playing cards the day after Engie’s secret had gotten out. “I mean the rest of us aren’t so there’s no way he is.”
“I’m human… sort of.” Sniper was born a werewolf so unlike those who were inflicted with the curse through a bite, he was somewhat wolf-like all the time. But that still made him more human than some of the people at this table.
“Nah, that don’t count,” Demo said. “None of us are human so Pyro almost certainly ain’t either. He’s probably just the suit.”
“He’s for sure like a ghost or something haunting the suit,” Scout said. “Which is why he’s so spooky. Or maybe his soul was tied to it against his will.”
“Could be but I’m betting the suit’s just enchanted or cursed, or something and became sentient ‘cause of it.”
“He could be a slime monster.” Sniper had met a slime monster once long ago. “That way he’d fit perfectly in the suit and it protects from fire which slime monsters are vulnerable to.”
“Or he could be a shape shifting monster in the shape of a suit,” Medic cut in, drawing Sniper’s attention to the fact that he’d entered the common room.
Heavy was with him, adding, “Could be a demon. Demons like fire, right?”
From there it wasn’t long before a proper betting pool started, managed by Engie. Everyone had their own idea what Pyro could be and with money on the line, they all wanted to know for sure.
Asking was a bit rude but several did so anyway. Pyro always gave the same answer; he was entirely human, he just had a thing about wearing the suit. Asking him to prove it was too rude for even Scout to stoop to because they were pals. Not that he would’ve likely been willing to anyway.
As far as Sniper could tell no one believed him, Sniper certainly didn’t. There was just no way, right? As a result the betting pool remained. The truth would come out eventually just as everyone else’s lies about being human had all been proven to be such. If he did turn out to be entirely human as he claimed, no one would win. What were the chances of that though?
