Don't let this old man fool you, he may walk with a staff, but is a master with the sword. A part of the Shunan race of red-skinned humanoids. I created these images using @heroforge-official A tool that allows you to create #miniature figurines for #tabletoprpggames like @dndwizards and Pathfinder - @officialpaizo

CHEERS TO THE NEW YEAR!
Here are 5 TTRPGS I recommend checking out in the new year to bring something new to your table.
1. Heart The City Beneath:
A dungeon crawler that has your character go down into the depths of a meaty hell in search of something. A reason, a purpose, or freedom and it will not come cheap as every roll has the potential for huge consequences. Will your character reach their Zenith ability and take control of their own destiny, or will they succumb to the Heart.
2. Alien/Vaesan:
These are two separate titles that use the same system and are from the same company. One is Alien with the xenomorphs and has a wicked bad ass fear system. Vaesan is humans trying to fight fairies and keep peace through rituals and learning so they can take down the fae.
3. Thousand Year Old Vampire:
A solo ttRPG where you write through the life of a vampire through their journal and the sparse memories they have.
4. Yokai Hunters Society:
A rules light game about hunting and killing Yokai during the edo period.
5. To Change:
A tarot based game with a focus on two players. Your character is trying to decide if they're gonna resist the change or succumb to it. Will you fully turn into a werewolf? Or perhaps the call of the sea will make you into a mermaid.

Got a big burst of inspiration today from having a really good session of Broken Worlds last night, so I decided to redraw my character and draw the other characters in our party!
Tumblr media
This is Cyllia Monica Yellescent von Krullersby, the mad artist with the painted eye. At her side is her handmaiden, Pipi Esai Beel Yui Maximillian of the South Beach. Her paintings are deeply gripping to all of those who see them, containing some property that cannot be described. Some beautiful realism, as though the images themselves lived and breathed.
However, what most see is not what she sees. She sees more than anyone can see in her paintings, and she seeks those who can see as she does with her painted eye.
Tumblr media
That Which Chases is a thieving, playful blue devil, a curious kleptomaniac. Relatively new to her existence from having once been a pallid devil, she seems to take a great joy in her new existence, despite not exactly knowing how everything works.
Recently she has become the pupil of the mad painter, wishing to see beyond the burning veil.
Tumblr media
Gilliam Tel is the leader of the Bathhouse Shades gang, a verdant devil, imposing and elegant. He is as smooth of word as he is curt.
He has little patience for Cyllia's yowling, shrieking nonsense. He looks upon her with suspicion, knowing the stories of how many artists have entered her manor seeking her tutelage only to never return.

I feel like in a tapletop game, Law would be the GM, because he would have to be. He's the only one who would TRY.
And he'd spend that entire game:
Law: No, Zoro-ya, you can not attack those innocent towns people.
Law: Okay, Long-Nose-ya, but you'd have to roll a nat 20 so it's near - Oh goddamnit.
Law: Nami-ya, do you really want to roll to pickpocket actual deiti - and a 47, sure why not.
Law: Zoro-ya, please don't make me roll just so you can attack those gods.
Law: Mugiwara-ya! That is not how this works.
Law: You know what, sure, Zoro-ya, go ahead and attack the dragon with you lvl 1 sword. See how that -
Law: OH GODDAMNIT!

Would You Like To Play A Game? A Tapletop Role-playing Game?
Inspired by this post over here, I thought I'd put my own Nothing To It game together right here in our very own Tumblr Text Editor, for anyone who has no patience for learning rules. It's a bit more than the other one, though still very small.
How to play: Talk about your characters' adventures. Whenever you want to, focus on a scene and figure out how it plays out using Checks
How to make a Check: roll one Stat Die and the highest relevant Asset Die. If both matches or beats the DC, you do it. If only one matches or beats the DC, you still do it - but something bad happens, related or otherwise - a cost, a worse situation, an imperfect success, or a cutaway to the villains progressing their schemes. If neither die is high enough, you fail and something else bad happens.
Difficult Classes are about as follows. The vast majority of rolls should be in the 4-8 range.
DC 3 is "wouldn't it be funny if you messed up though"
DC 4 is an easy task where failure would be interesting
DC 5 is a typical task some random anybody could maybe manage
DC 6 is a task which requires some level of skill or talent
DC 7 is a tough task for which expertise is required
DC 8 is beyond most professionals
DC 9 is firmly in the realm of masters
DC 10 is the highest you should see.
Your stats are Grace, Face, Force, Wits, and Wise. Assign 1d4 to one, 1d8 to two, and 1d6 to the others. These are your Stat Dice. Rename these if you want for your theme/setting.
Also pick a Background, Specialty, Quirk, and Thing for your character, plus another of any of the four types. Assign 1d10 to one, 1d8 to two, and 1d6 to the others. These are your Asset Dice.
Give yourself 3 abilities, of any of the following sorts
When you use [one of your Assets] in [more specific way], DC -1
You have [some sort of power]. To use it, spend Resource.
You have [some sort of passive]. When you spend Resource while using it, you can reroll two times.
You have a [new asset]. Its Asset Die is 1d8.
One of your Stat Die is one size larger, up to 1d12
One of your Asset Die is one size larger, up to 1d12
Draw four circles, and label them Damage, Stress, Resource, and Experience. Split the Experience circle into 8 segments, and the others into 4, 6, and 8 in any order.
When something strains your character, mark a segment of Stress. When something hurts your character, mark a segment of Damage. When you overcome adversity, mark Experience. Mark all segments of Resource, and spend them to reroll any die. Clear half of Health and Stress and fill half of Resource when you get a good rest.
When Damage is full, you are defeated. Maybe you die. When Stress is full, you can't take it anymore. Freak out, pass out, whatever seems interesting. When Experience is full, you have a revelation. Gain a new ability, from the same list as above.
When you start playing, pick three questions of the form "Did you [do what we want the game to be about]?". At the end of a session of play, mark a segment of Experience for each Yes.

what first drew you to ttrpgs?
I've been into textual rp since I was 12. I started it through Hetalia roleplay with internet friends (don't laugh................ I was roleplaying as Germany...........) and I've been consistently rp-ing since then. I wanted to try ttrpg when I was around 15, but none of my friends were interested, so I just had to wait until University before I met people who were into tapletop too (I was then 17). My first session was online with an internet friend (now my bf oops), and my first irl session was a few years later at my place with my school's association. Since then I've been playing almost twice a week every week, and I've been a DM since 3 years now! The idea of creating characters and then getting to play them was always what drew me to ttrpg. To have them explore a world, meet people and live adventure that I didn't write myself was such a cool idea I was sold. As a DM, it took me quite a while to hype me enough to do it (I'm kinda shy) but I always had tons of scenario in my head, and the possibility to let people play with them and interact with them finally got me and now I'm more a DM than a player hehe.

Man I like Thirsty Sword Lesbians. I wasn't sure if I would at first--I don't always like heavily romance-focused tabletop, it can come off as a little cringy and often comes through very awkwardly at the table--but TSL is such a delightful campy romp it's hard not to love. It doesn't take itself seriously, it knows it's ridiculous and over the top, and I'll be honest I just get the serotonin hit from reading about a tabletop world where Everyone Is Lesbians.
I mean they're not exactly, the game absolutely embraces lots of different sexualities (and even says your PC doesn't have to be a lesbian!), but clearly the focus is on lesbians and the playbooks & default campaign worlds were crafted with lesbians in mind. That way of structuring tapletop games is still not exactly commonplace lol. Like I'm just thinking about the fact that I'm running Waterdeep Dragon Heist, and of the NPCs provided in the book like 75% are men, there's one gay couple (also men), there are two trans characters (a nonbinary character & a trans man), and there's one F/F couple who have let in a third, Also A Man, because he's just so suave and sexy even the WLW couldn't resist. As written, in the text, there are no lesbians. There's no trans women either, let alone lesbian trans women. After running that, reading TSL was like... chugging pixie sticks lol.
Idk. TSL has some ideas about queerness, sexuality, and innate human nature I don't necessarily agree with (and it also draws a lot from fandom culture which I'm not a huge fan of [lol] these days), but I don't agree with pretty much every TTRPG I've ever read about What Human Nature Is because that's so hard to distill anyway. TSL is trying something different that's about embracing the sexuality of women who want to kiss and actively fuck other women.
That kind of thing is still genuinely so rare IMHO. Kids' cartoons have made great strides, I'm not discounting that, but they're for kids, so exploring the "sex" part of "lesbian sexuality" doesn't happen. The PCs in TSL are all adults, unless you play a campaign that explicitly suggests otherwise. And since I mentioned fandom like... that's one of the biggest perpetrators of the annoying "background women chastely holding hands and smiling prettily" thing. While you can play settings in TSL where sex isn't involved, it's pretty blunt and open about the fact that the game was crafted with the sex lives of lesbians in mind. It's in the title!
Look, I don't know if TSL accurately represents how I feel about being a lesbian, but it doesn't have to 'cause that's extremely personal anyway. It's still about part of the lesbian experience, specifically the instant gratification of getting into cool sword fights and flirting with every lady on the way. Yeah if you want to explore your sexuality in a super serious way maybe don't play a TTRPG where one of the default settings is named Queertopia and in one of the scenario hooks you're trying to break up a wedding in Heteronormia. But like. That's the point. It's trying to be campy, ridiculous fun.

decided that i'm gonna be slowly restarting my LPS collection; as a treat for myself <3
i'm gonna use them to re-learn how [i used] to play, because i've... forgotten how. and that makes me sad.
i was one of those neurodivergents that Loved (and still loves) imaginative play, which has kind of morphed it's way into me being a storyteller/writer & tapletop game lover.
but i wanna rediscover playing with toys, as a way to let myself just... not really worry about an over arcing plot or narrative. just have some lil' guys, in a place, and go from there~

Warhammer is a large franchise, started with a tapletop wargame and ttrpg, and then also got board games, video games, straight from the box tabletop games, and of course has two spin off franchises: Warhammer 40k and Warhammer age of sigmar.
That sounds amazing!
Thank you for answering <3
