I'm curious, do ppl hate Love Never Dies because they think Eristine is problematic and it's made canon in it, or is it due to something else? I havent watched it yet or anything but i like the vibes, lol
Heh... Love Never Dies has always been controversial at the very least? It came out at a time where Erik/Christine was still the most popular ship in the phandom - it still is, by the way. That didn't change despite a clear shift in fandom and ""problematic content"" around 2013, so a good 3 years after the musical came out. If anything, Raoul/Christine shippers have been a minority for most of the phandom's history, and both sides of the debate at some point more or less decided to agree to disagree (I mean, the homophobic slurs Raoul would get at times were starting to REALLY be in poor taste), except on the point that without the love triangle, there wouldn't be much of a story, and there are various ways of interpreting said love triangle. So, quite frankly, I don't understand why some people on either side are trying to restart discourse in the POTO fandom but I digress. And look, if you see people in the tags saying that Erik/Christine is problematic, they're probably new, and not really representative of the phandom at large. Anything having to do with Sierra Boggess is more controversial.
I really don't think the controversy stems from it making Erik and Christine bang and have a love child - I know there are some people who are against the idea of any kind of sequel, in fanfic form or otherwise, for a variety of reasons, but most of them were being responsible adults about it and didn't actively seek fanfic. As I mentioned before, a lot of folks were Erik/Christine shippers and thought that Christine was more into the Phantom than into Raoul, that's nothing new. But a lot of them also had issues with how LND dealt with it, for several reasons. It didn't come from an "anti" sentiment, it was very much them having issues with the material that was presented to them.
Raphael/phantoonsoftheopera (who is a long time fan of POTO) goes into more detail here and I think he sums up a lot of phans' thoughts back in 2010 when LND came out (whether they shipped the Phantom and Christine or not), and I think @musicalhell is another one who was also around at the time (feel free to pop in, and hope I'm not bothering you with the tag).
As for the rest, I wish I could defend ALW's choices here in the same way I'd defend Lana Wachowski for Matrix Resurrections - i.e. you're allowed to not like it but this is this creator's baby and they're allowed to do whatever they want with it, so let's all respect art for the sake of art here. But LND is very much a vanity project, as ALW has proven multiple times, that is mean-spirited to its core in various ways. For my fellow SW fans, it's the TROS to POTO'S TLJ. The cast and crew were treated in a really shitty way back in the original London production days, same with critics of the show, and there was even a case where a journalist and long time phan who provided a critical review of LND was demeaned in an article as some sort of sad housewife who was obsessed with POTO. Mind you, ALW has tried to make LND work FOR YEARS, with various productions and tours opening here and there, but it always underperforms. And mind you, the Eristine crowd is still hanging around, and POTO is doing extremely well whereever it goes to this day. If the Eristine content was good, the crowds would follow, "problématique" posts and tweets or not. They aren't there.

Heyyyy I was wondering if you have any Dan mpreg fics you’d recommend? I was trying to search thru your blog bc I feel like I remember you recommending some but you know how the search function is
i tag things pretty consistantly (especially so with mpreg bc i know it can be upsetting for some trans people) so you can always find specific posts on my blog by looking at the tag in question!
the url for that would be: https://freckliedan.tumblr.com/tagged/TAG . in this scenario it'd be /tagged/mpreg or /tagged/fic%20rec — %20 is how you indicate a space in the body of the tag, but if you still use chrome then you can just do a space and it autofills the %20.
even if you're a mobile user rather than a desktop user, it is still easier to find specific posts thru this method or by looking through blogs' archives! it doesn't work on every blog because some don't have desktop themes enabled, which is sad bc the filters on the archive function is hands down the easiest way to find specific posts. you can filter by month/tag/post type/
all that said! i do not have any phan mpreg fics bookmarked though i know i've read some before. i can reccomend let me make something beautiful by huphilpuffs for intentional family planning adjacent to mpreg though!

Tag 3 people in a post that just says "I love you".
(Ok, so, no joke, I forgot about the anonymous ask and found I had a pile of them. .....yeah this is on me honestly.)
I love physical love langue and I use it every day with a very much blunt "I love you" to my friends and family but I do not know how to verbally describe how I love a person that is amazing or precious to me. But I will try my damnest to make a post that screams I love you and your amazing work!
So, with that being said.... I can’t pick 3 people.
Let me rephrase that, I think having only 3 people is too little.
If I were to really say three people with would be @kettlefire, @stormikitty, and @impyssadobsessions but I have so much to say yet so little words to describe how to write this down so go easy on me.
Kettlefire is a personal love for me because they not only make incredible post of ideas that add into the dc x dp fandom that I adore but that they also wrote a fic about one of my favorite ideas yet. I understand the feeling about having someone write a fic with one your ideas before, with both a different fandom and with the blob ghost one shot i saw in a mix of other dcxdp ideas, but it's very heartwarming for someone to take one of the ideas that your personal love and give it life. It says something about the content that you make of yourself to see someone loves something that you love just as much, if not, more, and create something out of it. So yeah, personal love for Kettlefire.
Stormykitty is also another form of personal love for me since they are the ones that lead me to the dcxdp fandom. It was one of their fics about Damian and Danny being brothers and Damian finding him on a picture on the social media and I just became invested into that story even when I had no idea what was Danny Phantom, other than the op intro I saw for the cartoon. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew was that I created a Tumblr account, started writing au ideas and BOOM! Here we are. Honestly, everyone has a fanfic or fanart that makes them all invested into a crossover fandom every time and for me, that person was Stormykitty.
Finally, we have Impy. If Stormy was the reason that I started to become interested into the the dcxdp fantom, or more like the Batphamdom, then its Impy that only pushed me to love it even more. The fan art! The fanfics! The ideas!?! Hello?!?!? Every single thing that I read and see from Impy’s page is just amazing and I fall in love for every single time! Gosh, you have no idea how much joy I have when I go back day after day to see what else Impy has to show and create to share, and I have never loved a fandom even more.
In fact, just being a part of the fandom and reading everyone's au ideas, looking at fanart, fanfics, and honestly every little thing I can see for this fandom only makes me love it even more every single time. I love this fandom and that's all I can say.

Wanted: Phandom Artists and Writers!!!
🎄 4th PotO Advent Calendar 🎄
It’s time to start planning the PotO Advent Calendar again!
To make it work I’d need at least 24 volunteering artists and writers, who sign up for this project by contacting me personally either via my inbox or the messenger - so I can go chronologically by receiving applications.
It would be great, if we could get a good mix of visual and written art, so please let me know what you are planning to contribute.
Every participant will get a date when their contribution shall be posted (dates will be assigned in chronological order in which the application messages reach me).
Make sure you only sign up, if you seriously want to contribute something. Your piece (no matter if drawn or written or whatever) has to be themed winter-ish and/or Christmas-ish, beside that you are free to create whatever you want. Please inform me in case there are any wanings which need to be added.
You need to send your finished piece in time (!!! at least 3 days before your publication date !!!) to me via email –> [email protected] . I will put all received 24 (or more)nones in order and upload one (or more if there are more than 24) every day of December until Christmas, of course with crediting each creator!
In case you are not okay with sending your art/writing to me - submit it to @timebird84. But I would rather prefer the email option, so I can give every day of the advent calendar a similiar look.

Jestbee Fics: In Stats
If you’ve been here for any length of time you know I love a spreadsheet, and graphs, and all thing sweet, sweet data. Ao3 doesn’t allow me to export stats about my fics which is really annoying, but I’ve been tracking fics I wrote over the past 5 years (and 1 fic this year) by the following:
- Year posted
- Pairing
- Rating
- Relationship Status
- Canon compliancy
- POV
And I’d like to share some insights with you. Mostly about Phan but there are some stats about other pairings in the first bit under the cut.
Here’s the number of fics I posted per year since 2017. There are some posted as early as 2014 on my ao3 account but I chose to omit them as they were fairly inconsistent. I have been declining in my output but I think that makes sense given irl factors.
I’m putting the rest of that juicy juicy data under a cut so as not to bother non-data loving folks.
Pairing
Pairing written by year as a percentage of everything posted. I had a few solid years of only writing Phan or associated pairings (same fandom tag in a03 actually, just separated out for the purposes of this data). It’s only the past couple of years I dabbled in other stuff. I’m not defining these ship names btw, if you’re curious look it up. (but I’ll concede for dwhite - it’s Dye/White from Monochrome which is a phan fic I wrote fic of. v complicated but v fun)
Obviously the majority of my fics are Phan, and so in all following sections I will just show stats for that pairing as all others are negligible at this point. However, I think it will be fun to revisit this the same time next year to see how it has changed.
Rating
for Phan only, ratings as a percentage of total fics posted per year. What I find interesting is that the number of E fics I write stays basically the same even as the overall number I post drops, which means as a percentage E rated fics are now higher. I also had a pesky habit of not rating fics until about 2019, glad to see I no longer do that. (Also 2019, no G fics, I really don’t know why)
For all Phan fics, here is the distribution of ratings. Kind of an even split even though I think people would probably guess that I write more E/M rated than anything else. But I think the amount I wrote in earlier years and the way the number of E fics I write has remained consistent it why that’s the case.
Relationship Status
I actually think these numbers make the most sense when looked at in conjunction with Canon Compliancy since when I first get into a fandom I tend toward canon compliant and then later AU, which in the case of Phan means established relationship early on and Getting Together AUs later on. I prefer strangers to lovers to friends to lovers, even though my all time favourite trope is Friends with Benefits to lovers. You’ll see I wrote one early on and then restrained myself in 2019 (seriously, was was 2019?) until finally giving in. If I really let myself go those percentages might be much higher but I guess we’ll never know.
Quick look at the overall. Unsurprisingly Established Relationship is highest given that my output of fics was higher during the time that was my preference.
Canon Compliancy
Firstly I need to do a little definining of terms since this data was subjective and so the terminology I use might be different to how you would define things. So, for the sake of this data I have used terms thus:
Canon Compliant - They have been together since 2009, events happen just as they have done up to the point of the fic being written (with the exception of 1 where I actually predicted the future so yay me)
Canon Adjacent - Mostly canon compliant, all events happened up to the point of the fic being written except usually for them being together. (I drew the line at calling these solidly AU because I wanted a way to be more nuanced)
Canon divergence - All events are compliant up to a point in time where something went differently. (eg, they break up, lose touch, Phil takes the internship etc)
AU - What is canon? Who is she? Dan and Phil have totally different jobs, probably aren’t together, might not even know each other at first, and I can’t wait to find out how they fall in love
So like I said before, I prefer canon compliancy when I first join but soon discard canon and run with my imagination. Honestly AU is where I feel more comfortable, especially in Phan where the canon is basically a fic all of its own and there are only say many ways you can write the same scenario over and over.

POV
We’re only look at Phan fics here, but Other applies to outside POV. I did a couple early on but have since given up the practise. I like them, but I don’t gravitate toward them without a challenge or a specific prompt.
I think these were the most surprising to be honest. I didn’t realise I favoured Dan POV as much as I do but that makes sense. I’m a Phillie, and Dan is the ultimate Phillie so I vibe with his point of view. lmao
Anyway that’s it for my little graphs, if you read this far without being bored out of your mind then let me know if anything surprised you, or if there’s any other data you’d like to see. I didn’t do anything about word count in here becuase I have my other tracker but maybe seeing wordcount by relationship etc might be fun. I also toyed with kudos/comments data but ultimately decided against it (mainly because these values change often - PLEASE ao3 let me export this data on a monthly basis and track it I beg)
I also didn’t do anything about tropes or other tags because I thought that would be too subjective but I could look at it if people are interested. (Heck, I’m interested and could definitely see myself doing it one day)

okay so i’ve been watching dnp for 10 years (as i’m sure everyone knows cos it’s like my whole personality lmfao) but i didn’t watch them for the whole of 2018 up until dan coming out so i literally was not expecting a coming out at all 😂 like okay so i didn’t see dan’s initial tweet (but i do know people pretty much assumed from that what the video was gonna be) so i was just sitting in my room minding my own business when i got the youtube notification i looked at it (like i didn’t even realise i had dan yt notifs on lmao) and i remember so vividly going “no fucking way, what?” like over and over again and i genuinely did that for about 5 minutes before i actually watched it and then i sent it to all my irl friends who used to be phannies and they were all freaking out too. so i finally watch it and then it finished and i watched it again 5 times that night! that night was also the night this blog became a dnp blog like i sat and reblogged every single thing from the phan tag and i joined a discord server and reverted back into my phannie self! 😂
then phil posted his tweet and i was like omfgggggg and bare in mind i’d all ready cried about 10 times but phil made me cry again
and then for phil’s video, i think i was a bit more chill cos i already knew it was coming after dan’s so it wasn’t as much shock but yeah basically the tdlr is that i was so shook by dan coming out that i rejoined the phandom in a bigger way than i ever had as a teen (eg i never had dnp related socials until BIG)
also i came out the day of phil’s video cos id been thinking about it after dan’s video, but phil’s gave me the push i needed to actually do it!

I want to get something off my chest
I haven’t seen much of this on tumblr, but I have been seeing it increasing on other platforms in poto groups. It’s about Honeyphan
If you don’t know who Honeyphan is, she wrote the Hidden plot. What is the hidden plot, you ask? It’s basically the secret story behind the 2004 movie, where Erik is possessed by an evil spirit and he and Christine are the true Queen and King of music. Honeyphan went through the film frame by frame and pointed out inconsistencies and minor film details to support this hidden plot.
If you try to look at the Hidden Plot as something real, it’s ridiculous. It’s reading way too much into things that aren’t too deep. But sometimes I like to remember that she put time and effort into this. She came up with a plot and wove little movie details into it. It’s absurd when you look at one frame showing a few candles lit, and another frame showing a different number. But if she’s just written it as a fanfic, it wouldn’t have received the ridicule it does.(Also, let me point out, she wrote it ten years ago)
But the honeyphan bashing doesn’t end with the hidden plot. Honeyphan also makes photo manipulations of the phantom and christine. They are a mix of photo editing and her own art. Yeah, there’s better art out there. But so what? Her art frequently gets shared just to mock it. She hasn’t posted a new one in 4 years, and yet they’re still being circulated and bashed. I’ve had this particular blog since 2012. Some of my older stuff is really really bad. But if someone dredged up something from 8 years ago just to make fun of it? That would suck. And honestly? It doesn’t matter how old it is. First of all, everyone starts somewhere. But second, she made that. She was proud enough of it to share it. She’s not super active in the community in general, and for some reason people seem to think that makes it ok to bash her work constantly, as though she’ll never know. Maybe there’s a reason she hasn’t posted a new piece in 4 years.
But still, there’s more. Honeyphan is also a writer and she’s insanely talented. Her fic Symphony in the Twilight is probably my absolute favorite fic. Her oldest fic was posted in 2006 and it’s got it’s cheesy moments but it’s still really good. Symphony in the Twilight is actually a sequel to A Phantom Christmas Carol by honeyphan. It’s short, it’s silly at times, but it’s also well written. One group I’m in recently did a dramatic reading of the piece just to make fun of it. As a writer, that kind of hurts me. I put hours into my writing, I imagine she does too. And then some group won’t even give it a chance because of something she wrote ten years ago. Some people have written her off as ridiculous because of the Hidden Plot, and as a community, we should do better.
I can’t imagine the impression other phandom members get, especially newer ones, when they see groups bashing another phan’s art and writing. There’s nothing wrong with her stories. Even her fics based on the hidden plot are very good.
If you don’t like the Hidden Plot, her art, her writing, whatever, that’s fine but ffs, move on. Stop needlessly hating on her. She’s a phan just like the rest of us. She’s been making content for more than 10 years. I cannot imagine some group scrolling the tumblr tags and mocking every amatuer artist and writer, why does she get treated this way? Maybe she hasn’t seen any of the hate. Maybe she doesn’t care, maybe she does. But it’s unnecessary and it’s just hateful. I’m tired of seeing constant honeyphan bashing.
I’m linking some of her fics because they really are really good, and I hope someone sees this and checks them out with an open mind.

i ship dacre and joe but im not doing anything bad?? how is that any differenr from ahipping billy and steve and making thousands of nsfw drawings of them... i respect both of their luves and girlfriends, but i like them together. i think theyre cute.
First off, I don’t speak for everyone and that post had a lot of other people reblogging and agreeing with it so it’s not some personal attack at anyone. But, anyway...
It’s when fans start to attack their partners or insist they’re not straight or love each other that it becomes a problem for me. Imagine a stranger on the internet insisting you’re a sexuality you’re not or that you secretly love your best friend and hate your wife/girlfriend. It depends on the person, if they request for people to not write fics or make nsfw art of them as a person, not their characters then that is downright disrespectful but if they don’t mind or encourage it then knock yourself out.
I think the main difference is they are removed from the characters, they’re a part they played and left on the set. They aren’t that character 24/7 and most of the time do not act or look anything like whoever they portrayed on screen. I don’t tag my harringrove things with their names because it doesn’t really involve them and it keeps shippy stuff out of much bigger and wider used tags, along with somewhat hiding it a little more from their view. A lot of actors really don’t mind shipping or people writing or drawing stuff about their characters or selves but some do and I think over my years of being in fandoms and participating in them I’ve seen both sides. There have been cases that have ruined friendships or even caused mental breakdowns (Phan) but has also created good laughs and enjoyment for everyone. Cases that have had certain ships banned from convention questions or used against actors to call them homophobic when really they’re just uncomfortable and it’s just not right to use a fictional idea against a real person with a real life.
Overall I don’t think looking at two people and thinking, “Oh, they have really good chemistry. They would be a cute couple,” is a bad thing in and of itself but if you then start to ask questions or contact them about said made up couple then.....that’s when it’s an invasion of privacy and tbh rude.
I used to ship a bunch of irl people; actors, band members, singers, youtubers but I didn’t create or consume stuff within their view or reach and over the years, becoming an adult shipping real people now makes me uncomfortable so I just stay away from it. Honestly, ship what you want. I’m not the shipping police but I just have a negative view and experience with shipping real people and so do a lot of people by the looks of it.
Ship Dacre and Joe, make edits of them or write fics all you want. You’re free to do that, I just personally find it uncomfortable and wouldn’t do it.... I’m really not a big fan of policing in fandoms so don’t take this as a demand that you follow, I’m just sharing my thoughts and feelings towards the topic... You’re free to do as you wish.

The worst ones is him harassing a 14 year old earlier this year(? oh god it’s been so long), iirc it was over them asking not to post porn of Persona chars (esp them being in their underage forms) and he went off. I have to dig for the tweets by the kid who called him out a few months ago. So if I stumble across it again I’ll add it here.
Right before the life threatening thing today, he was called out for having BLM in his bio but not retweeting links (thus making it feel very...uhhhh fake support...can’t think of the right word sorry ;w; ....theatrical? is that the word i’m looking for? It felt fake ok? 8U). He claims he was gonna do it and tried to downplay it by “being harassed for not being fast enough” I didn’t see the convo but from how people are describing it, he seems to just went off the handle on someone who was just being like “Hey! Can you do this? :D” kinda thing. But I didn’t see it, so take this part with a grain of salt. You can probs still find the tweets tho
And now recently he was calling MysticDistance to the point of obsession and would leave threatening voicemails even threatening his (and his girlfriend’s) life/wellbeing and...well here’s just the thread
He was like “you better not mess with my relationship with Atlus” fkldsjaf;ka he valued a relationship with a company over his friend’s wellbeing >:( (no he threatened his friend’s wellbeing for a company relationship D:<) Had half a mind to @ atlus’ twitter right then and there but didn’t cause Mystic might not have wanted that.
The 14 year old thing was what brought his other issues to light earlier this year (such as him saying the N word when he’s not black), but this seems to be the case of the straw that broke the camels back, and the community is finally calling him out on his BS. He does a really, really shitty apology, to make people feel sympathy for him, says he’ll “do better” and then proceeds to be a pretty shitty person.
But as of typing this, it looks like he relinquished his account to two(?) new moderators (they gonna try to rebrand I think). His personal account is PhanSkull in case you want someone to block (not harass of course, just block).

Just bevause dan and phil are dating doesn’t mean its any less invasive and weird for fans to act like that. Especially when they were both in the closet for the vast majority of “phan” shippers existing, and then were afraid and self conscious if being outed and hated and being almost pressured to fess up before they were ready or be called liars. And even now, it is entitled and invasive to write in detail about their sex lives, they’re real people who deserve some degree of privacy
My point isn’t “oh they’re dating, so it’s okay to sexualize people” - that’s not it at all. My point is: we don’t at all know what was happening behind the scenes. You never know what’s happening behind the scenes. So yeah, they said that they weren’t dating when they were. They lied. And that’s so so so fair because no one should be forced to come out when they’re not ready. But I don’t think it’s fair to pin “trauma” on the - majority LGBTQ+ - audience that they had amassed and say “You’re wrong for having identified with them”. Or! Let’s go back even a couple of years! They were being told: “you’re delusional for identifying with them”.
When it comes to real people, it’s a delicate space, because there can be real consequences at both ends of the line. But honestly, really, I think that, as a whole, most fans in that fandom are respectful and supportive, and they could see what was going on. And I think fan spaces exist as an exploration of that. In particular, Dan and Phil have both said that they don’t mind fanfiction written about them. I don’t write it, and I wouldn’t tag them in it, but I’m not going to villainize tons of content creators who have poured themselves into stories that are a reflection of themselves as well.
So when the original post seems to be “these people aren’t dating, get over it and stop bugging them and their families”. I feel like I have to point out - they are together. I don’t know what any of these people’s lives look like behind the scenes. But, remember, neither do you.

I was not tagged by anyone either, but I saw this on @simon--spooks and wanted to, so I’ll tag him b/c he did the same for the person he saw it from.
Fic year in review!
(littered with links because I’m a sell-out like that)
Number of fics completed this year: 7, all of my Ao3 fics lol. looking at these, it’s been a long year-- seems like ages since writing some of them.
Total Word Count: 13,577, which is an ugly number. I can’t tell you why but I look at that number and go “that is an ugly number.”
Did you write more, less, or about what you expected this year?: Well my fics run short so I wasn’t expecting to have that many words. But going into the year I didn’t really expect anything b/c I hadn’t finished + posted any fanfic before. I did think I’d write more for the Killjoys tho.
What’s your favorite story of the year, personally?: Fear of Falling, likely. There was a time when I really wanted to submit it to any contest, but since it’s technically TMA fanfic I couldn’t.
Did you take any writing risks this year?: Hmm. I love messing around with like perspective and such but that’s then not a risk, and I don’t think I did anything interesting, content-wise. Oh, technically I have a side original project with AFC that’s theoretically going to be book length. Theoretically. So: writing with someone else.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?: Finish the Phan Killjoy Au. Other than that, I have no idea where my interests will take me.
Most popular story of the year?: *sigh* “Everybody Lives! (Except for Viridian but he doesn't count)” These 618 words are second only to that cursed Christmas card in popularity across all my stuff.
Most fun story to write?: Actually maybe “Everybody Lives!” because I wrote it right after my family finished A Letter For the King and just messed around lol. Or “People We Pass By in Life (Remember Us Still)” because it just sort of. happened. Also I’m a sucker for second-person.
Biggest Disappointment?: Either Fear of Falling and I Need You Here’s lack of popularity, or not finishing the Phan Killjoy AU.
Biggest Surprise?: Probably that I ended up writing RPF haha. I only went through with it because they’ve said they’re okay with it though.
