DO YOU SEE THE VISION FOR SUN AND MOON LEARNING BALLET? DO YOU SEE MY VISION IN MY BEAUTIFUL WORLD?
Under a cut bc it got. long.
SPINNING AND SPINNING WITHOUT GETTING DIZZY BECAUSE THEYRE ROBOTS AND THEIR HEADS CAN STAY STILL WHILE THEIR BODIES MOVE
THE FLOURISHES
THE JUMPS
THEN WITH THE PRY/NCESS. THE SEAMLESS DUET OF TWO WORLDS, MOVING AS ONE, ORGANIC AND INORGANIC, A VISUAL MELODY. BUT SO STRUCTURED, SO REHERSED AND SO PERFORMED
then... as the story goes on with Moon.. it becomes more of a waltz. a two person symphony. Less impressive but so much more personal, so much closer. Almost playful in a way
Meanwhile with Sun, it becomes contemporary. The structure is removed, the motions ones of instinct, no practice or steps memorized - just movement, in sync

I remember hearing somewhere that Asami was originally planned to be an Equalist spy, then after they realized they liked her character too much, they changed it so she had no idea her father was an Equalist, and joined the good guys instead upon finding out.
And like, (if it weren't for both Mako and General Iroh existing,) I could buy an argument that they didn't want to just repeat Zuko again. But I really think it's illustrative of the flaws in S1's handling of the Equalist plot that they all-but-completely excised her from it, instead of making that her arc.

Also I only just realised the root word connection between January and Janus (forever caught between looking forward and looking back) last night despite this being laid out for me by fandom too; obviously I don’t think about the Roman Empire enough

Rorke has jokingly called Logan and Hesh (and any walker child) “the devil’s kids” as a JOKE. His office was soon covered head to toe in wrapping paper. Underneath? Giant satanic symbols, courtesy of Delta- who by the way, heard that and RAN with it because she thought it was funny. It wasn’t to Rorke. Elias had a chuckle before he made the culprits clean it up.
-⚕️
Pls the three of them would be so mad. Dressed up in the cleaning fits and seething as they undo everything.
Elias would so be trying not to laugh because Rorke (Southern boy, definitely had a staunchly religious grandma he saw on the weekends.) legit went pale and looked like he was having a stroke when he tattled to Elias.
"Satanic symbols" aka "Pentacle+upside down cross" because they know Rorke is too thick in the head to know what those really are.
(Pentacle = Magic symbol with many uses, overall harmless. Upside down cross = Cross of Saint Peter. Both quite literally demonized overtime.)

the pre-raphaelites brotherhood
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was a group of English painters, poets, and critics founded in 1848 by William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais, and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. They aimed to reform art by rejecting the academic standards of their time, particularly the influence of the Renaissance artist Raphael. Inspired by medieval art and literature, their works often featured vivid colors, intricate detail, and complex symbolism. The Brotherhood's art and ideas were controversial but influential, laying the groundwork for the Aesthetic and Arts and Crafts movements that followed.

i have thoughts too complex to put into this quick tumblr post but i do think the online leftist community's problem with constant virtue signaling and "will this make me seem/feel like a good person" politics has absolutely gotten in the way of effecting actual change and in some ways is an active impediment to it and one of the ways you can most clearly see it is the ways in which we are currently discussing boycotts

also something i think is really cool in episode 25 is when the sword pull version 2 starts proper, the dual chorus version of virtual star embryology starts listing out different heavens. with utenas surname being 天 (ten, heaven) and 上 (jou, up) it really feels like a moment of progress and exaltation for her (perhaps fitting considering the title of the song)
you get this as well with the ED version, where she seems to be ascending high up into the sky, into the clouds... to the castle.
