Sylki antis really be like "omg the character who was established to be a mean asshole thinks their relationship is weird, we won so much besties". Negative media literacy.
Brad looks like the coppiest cop and I bet his playlist is full of Five Finger Death Punch. Exactly the kind of person whose judgement you should accept without question *sarcasm*. (I associate that band with assholes that called me slurs, LOL).
Dude makes jabs at Loki about imprisoning again ("I'll get you a looser suit next time"), not having a rank there, being a villain, and his mother (berserk button).
In S1, when Mobius is calling Loki a cockroach and accuses him of being a degenerate, it sounds A LOT like right-wing rhetoric, especially directed towards a canonically queer character. Like I know they're talking about the fictitious concept of variants (And Sylvie and Loki look NOTHING alike, and I think it's impossible all variants share DNA with Tom Hiddleston's Loki), but it seems rather allegorical in that manner. This isn't surprising in a fascist organization.

In response to the antis crowing (in the Sylki tag no less) that the Sylki’s lost because a certain somebody thinks that shipping it is weird because they’re like the same person.
Who’s opinion should I take on this matter:
A- A producer of the show, who’s opinions on Sylki being a romance in both seasons appear to be shared by the show’s other producers and writing staff, and have been for two years.
B- An actress, who has no producing credits on the show, no writing credits, and acts like she’s 1.5 sheets to the wind at any given moment.
I’ll take option A, thanks!

What's worse about swapping Wanda out for Sylki on that MCU Timeline book's cover is how it ruins the symmetry. Because originally everyone was an appropriate mirror:

Agreed, also what I find off about the whole thing is every other image is a power shot. A moment from the movie where the character power/ ability are on display while sylki is a promotional image where the characters aren't doing anything.

I'm a ship and let ship kind of girl but one thing that does grind my gears a bit is those antis who deliberately tag there anti sylki posts in the sylki tag. I have got way too many newly blocked accounts since the finale its kind of disheartening and also annoying, its not that hard to probably tag your posts.
But anyway there were quite a few posts of antis gloating about a couple of interviews that Sophia did and claiming that she hates the sylki ship so I figure ok lets talk about these interviews. Here's the first one:
First off the part saying Sophia isn't super into the idea of sylki as a couple isn't a direct quote from Sophia, so this could be the interviewer paraphrasing or it could be the interviewers interpretation on Sophia's comments, either as its not a direct quote and I don't know what the context is I am taking that part with a whole handful of salt and disregarding it.
What Sophia did say was that sylki is weird because they variants of the same person and also that with everything they have gone through the relationship is complicated. It seems like antis saw the word weird and went oh bad, she must mean she hates them but when you actually look at the definition of the word weird it doesn't necessarily mean something bad. The definition from Cambridge dictionary is: very strange and unusual, unexpected, or not natural. The Merriam-Webster definition is: of strange or extraordinary character, of, relating to, or caused by witchcraft or the supernatural. Which lets be honest fits Sylki, they are unusual, strange, unexpected, extraordinary and you could argue with the whole variant thing its got that supernatural element to it as well. I mean them being weird is what makes them fun and entertaining to watch so honestly I'm not mad that she said they were weird.
Another thing to bear in mind is that we don't know the question that goes with this answer for all we know it could have been a very leading question like don't you think its weird they are both variants of the same person, or what do you think of shipping in general, we don't know so we don't have a whole lot of context even with her direct quote. But to me Sophia's answer just seems to be your standard diplomatic, vague, non-committal answer that most actors give when asked about ships which is I like my character and I want the best for them. Sadly we live in a world now where actors have to be very careful and ambiguous when talking about ships because if they say something that upsets one side they may get sent hate, from what I've heard Sophia has already been sent death threats and had other hate hurled at her so it would make sense to me that she wouldn't want to give anything but vague answers to any questions about ships.
But say Sophia really isn't that into Sylki as a romantic pairing, so what? She's allowed to like or dislike a pairing on a tv show just like anyone else, even if she's playing one half of the pairing. She wouldn't be the first actor to dislike a ship they are a part of or to prefer a different pairing for their character. She's a person like everyone else and she's allowed to have likes and dislikes and her own opinions. But trying to argue that the Sylki ship is dead because Sophia may or may not (seeing as this interview doesn't confirm either way) like the ship is absurd to me. Especially as we've already had the head writer and producer of the show confirm that they are canon and that it was their romance that was driving the show. Seeing as they are the ones that write the show and decides what happens, I think I'm ok if Sophia thinks the ship is weird somehow. Now if the producer of the show said that they didn't intend for my ship to be romantic and wrote them as just friends I might be upset and think my ship was dead. Luckily for me that isn't the case.
The other interview I've seen antis throwing about as evidence that Sophia hates the ship is this one where she is talking about their kiss:
This one just baffles me even more. Personally I just don't understand how someone reads this and jumps to she hates the ship and the ship is dead. They were the ones saying the kiss was nothing but a trick, a distraction. Now here we've got Sophia saying the same thing Sylki shippers were saying which is the kiss was more of a good bye kiss. Honestly I love what she said about how it was a thank you and a good bye, it showed how much of an impact Loki made on her, heartbreakingly though it just wasn't enough to break through that need to complete her mission. To be fair this mission was something that had fuelled her throughout her entire life, that pain and those scars left from HWR and the TVA run too deep, really she needed alot more time with Loki before being able to choose him over that mission, maybe if they had more time together before facing HWR it would have gone differently but sadly we'll never know. Sophia recently said in another interview that there is an unspoken agreement between Sylki that they can't kill each other. Which is what makes this moment so tragically beautiful in a way, she knows she can't let her mission go, but she also knows that he won't let her kill HWR, and she also knows that she can't kill Loki so in her eyes her only option was to push him through that time door. She knows that will break their relationship so she just wants one kiss, one moment to say thank you and to say goodbye. Sorry but this isn't what a dead ship looks like to me. A slightly broken one maybe but not dead.
Ok so this is off topic but its something I am curious about. This is more to do with what I saw in the main Loki tag so unrelated to the antis mis-tagging their hate posts, I don't want to lump regular Loki/mobius shippers in with them. But I saw some posts talking about there being a track named L*kius and some shippers felt they had been baited because there was a track on the official sound track with their ship name but the producers were saying it was meant as a friendship and even I thought that was an odd choice on the Loki teams part, but then I've just been listening to the official soundtrack by Natalie Holt, its as amazing as last seasons by the way so if you get the chance I would recommend checking it out, but there is no track on there with that name. I checked the official track list titles as well and I'm not seeing it. So what happened there, was someone trolling that fandom? In which case not cool, or was it just misinformation that was spread, I'm very confused because there were screenshots that looked legit. Saying that I was listening to an epic cover of the track titled Ascension on the official soundtrack pre-release and they had named it glorious purpose seeing as the official name of the track hadn't been released yet, so maybe this was the same situation? It was just a placeholder name by whoever uploaded it? I never listened to the one with the ship name that was being posted about in the main tag so I am curious as to whether it is a track on the official soundtrack but now has a different name?
So wrapping it up, those are my thoughts on Sophia's interviews, the official soundtrack for season 2 is amazing and everyone should go listen to it and ship whatever you like but please, please can people tag their posts correctly because my finger is starting to ache from constantly hitting the block button.

It’s my birthday, Pride is half over, and the Sylki fandom is half dead.
Here’s a useless meta proving Sylvie and Loki are closer to an Andrew Garfield vs. Tom Holland Spider-Man situation than “GeNdErBeNt SeLFcEsT”

When Sylvie was introduced, all Loki variants presented so far resembled Tom Hiddleston. By episode five, we know the vast majority of Loki variants are not Tom Hiddleston clones, (like a Spider-Man, a Loki could be anybody,) so Sylvie likely isn’t his clone either. However, since they’re played by different actors, with vaguely similar facial features, it could still be argued that perhaps Loki and Sylvie are the same individual, just the “other sex.” (Insert iconic Loki eye roll). Today I’m demonstrating why that argument is stupid.
Skin ~ Loki’s skin tone is consistently cooler and paler than Sylvie’s, as demonstrated by earlier films. His skin is more neutral and saturated in the series, a decision by Tom Hiddleston to make Loki seem more alive and tangibly real. Still, his typical skin tone is best described as a creamy ghostly porcelain, whereas Sylvie’s is a light rosy beige. Sylvie has a rougher, less polished, more ‘human’ look, whereas sacred timeline Loki sometimes verges on the ethereal. These skin details suit their characters well.

Note: Sylvie’s skin seems slightly tanned in this image, while Loki looks as deathly pale as he did in the movies. Likely a difference in lighting, but I think it does a good job showing how different the two characters can look at a glance.
Hair ~ this is the strongest argument. Loki’s natural hair color is visibly darker and deeper than Sylvie’s natural hair color. Loki’s hair is raven black, and Sylvie’s hair is dark brown. Sylvie dyes her hair a muted ash blonde.

This hair color difference is suspiciously intentional, and even carries over from final concept art, official merch, and their child actors. Baby Sylvie’s hair is dark ash/golden brown in better lighting. Baby Loki’s hair is always raven black.

The two variants also have noticeably different hair textures. Loki’s natural curl pattern seems messier and tighter than Sylvie’s fluffy waves, even with too much greasy hair product.
Contrast ~ Sophia and Tom’s eyes are similar shades of blue. Less is certain about the in character eye colors of Loki and Sylvie. The fandom is not in agreement whether Loki’s (and Sylvie’s) eyes are blue or green, so I tend to compromise on blue-green. Tom’s eyes appear slightly lighter than Sophia’s, so I headcanon that Loki’s eyes are lighter than Sylvie’s too. Combined with their hair and skin tone differences, Sylvie has a lower, softer, more muted contrast between her hair, skin, and eyes, compared to Loki, with their higher, clearer and more striking contrast.
Color Season Analysis ~ Going off of that, and taking this next part with a grain of salt, as I am in no way an expert on color analysis, I would guess Loki is a winter, and Sylvie is a summer. Sylvie could be a spring, but from what I’ve seen, her hair is more ashen than yellow, and it makes sense Sylvie would lean cooler then warmer since she, as a former Loki variant, is a frost giant.
Summers typically look best in sunny pastel colors, whereas Winters look best in jewel tones. Sure enough, when Loki and Sylvie venture outside their classic green, black, and gold, the costume department decided to dress Loki in deep jewel tones such as blue and purple (the guard turtleneck, some of their costumes in Ragnarok.)
Another costume department chose to put Sylvie in subtle pastels (her tie die shirt.)
Typically, cool seasons look better in silver (grey) than than gold (yellow). Coincidentally, Loki and Sylvie are both wearing gray in the pictures above. Obviously, Lokis are to gold as goths are to black. However, few people fit a color season perfectly (I’m ironically a winter in the winter and a summer in the summer,) Sylvie and Loki have fairly neutral pigmentation, and saying a Loki wouldn’t look good in gold is blasphemy.
In Summary ~ Sylki are not genderbent clones, they’re not identical twins, and though it’s near certain they don’t share much dna at all, because this is not Game of Thrones, the closest they could physically be is full siblings, and while it would be questionable, your siblings aren’t you, so it wouldn’t be selfcest.
If the multiverse was a cinematic universe, Loki and Sylvie would be two different actors playing two different adaptations of the same character by two different studios, at most. Loki and Sylvie have different personalities, different experiences, different bodies, and different lives. Honestly, they’ve lived such different lives, with Sylvie breaking away from her sacred timeline and Loki identity so young that she’s a different gender and mostly based on Sylvie Lushton, that they are possibly less the same character than any of the Spider Men variants, from Spiderverse through MCU. Likely, all the two share is a mind, heart, and soul. To me, that’s beautiful.

i know it's just that multichaper works end up with more hits but it's still kind of wild to me that my "successful" fics about the selfcest pairing are the ones set in AUs where its not selfcest.

So… I haven’t been consistently active since, like, 2015… But here I am!
Since twitter feels unreliable nowadays, I’ll make more of an effort to seek fandom meta / commentary here. If you’re from twitter, hi! I’m most active on instagram and tik tok— @darthxerik on all platforms!
My habit has been to return to tumblr for the fandom metas and commentary, particularly when the MCU has released the latest Loki content and it has either shattered my world in a good or a bad way. This is why you’ll see if you scroll not-that-far-back that I was reposting speculations while the Loki series was still being aired. I ultimately ended up loving it (insert personal reasons and the fact that I’m Sylki positive), and I’m more of a Ragnarok-positive person nowadays, even though 2018-2021 I was relatively Ragnarok-negative (I blame the IW/EG trauma). I’ve still only seen Endgame once. Still IW/EG negative for the most part.
“The only thing constant is change,” and that seems to be one of my life’s mottos. Had you met me 10 years ago when I started this tumblr, you would’ve met a completely different person. I was a conservative, family-centric, wide-eyed “straight” and “cis” Jesus freak who just wanted to achieve my “glorious purpose” in life. Now I’m a leftist socialist, queer, genderfluid atheist with little-to-no-contact with their family…
But in 2021, I found my *true* glorious purpose… the love-of-my-life, my fiancé, @brynn-and-tonic . We found each other through tik tok, our mutual love of cosplay, and our appreciation for the Loki Series and for Loki & Sylvie in particular.
Now we share everything, and are returning to tumblr so we can share Corintheus smutty fanart, and I’m here for it.
And I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. 💚

I’m a pro-shipper. Plenty of Loki to go around.

THAT obnoxious Sigyn stan claiming Sylkis were pressuring writers into giving Loki and Sylvie kids reblogged my post pretending to refute my points and then blocked me. What a fucking coward. Yea go back to your echochamber. She posted the following:

We don't know if it's the same Laufey. I had a friend with the same name as me once in high school ( People thought I made her up LOL). Having the exact same name didn't make us blood-related (She was blonde with curly hair and I have straight hair and a darker complexion). I am saying this with a grain of salt because it's a prop, but there is a document intake prop form suggesting they are not even the same species?
Then your problem should be with Marvel and EVERY work derivated from mythology. But you won't call them lacking in imagination because you're a hypocrite. The way you are acting about Sigyn makes me think you worship her. If you're Norse pagan why the fuck do you mix and match Marvel and Norse myths so much?

4. Favorite Elemental Description (earth, wind, fire, water, etc.)
Two things come to mind -
She wonders at the waters dark past, of the secrets it holds as the waves ebb and flow on the shore. She muses about the life it wanted, to just to be a river that was seen as safe and lovely and hopeful, and not something to be feared or mourned. She watches the midnight dance upon its crests as these notions swirl in her head and she wants to know what she needs to feel. She closes her eyes briefly and takes in the touch of the night air, awaiting a sign that may never come.

Making up the distance after a beat, she gets caught in the light breeze that sweeps up behind her. Not cold enough to be desperately uncomfortable, but cool enough that if she knew there would be outside activities, she would have brought a jacket. The wind’s presence, however, is only noticeable in the silence that comes and goes between them during their spurts of conversation, so it’s truly not a bother. And in truth, she had no idea what the night would bring, let alone a salted sea breeze, so she forgoes criticizing her lack of planning and tries to enjoy the moment with him as they cross onto the ramp that will eventually bring them to the sand.

Honestly all that glues the loki show together is framing. Because if were supposed to take Lokis romance to Sylvie or his friendship to Mobius as something good and serious, then we must accept the framing its presented with. The one in which both Mobius and Sylvie are friends and heroes, with Sylvie having the added lover part.
But, again, that's only the framing talking, cause when you look underneath it, every inch of their relationships are something far more insidious. Mobius and Sylvie are both abusive to Loki, and if we take it as that, as it is, were looking at a victim to so much more than just an Orwellian hellscape (which the TVA is, even if it, too, is eventually framed as....
