Clone high season 2 episode concepts that would've actually been fun/cool
Abe tries to get into "real magic" to impress Joan by hanging out with Aleister Crowley and Arthur Conan Doyle. Jokes about people being too into Harry Potter being lame, jokes about paranormal teen shows a la Sabrina, etc.
Ronald Reagan and Nixon gets JFK into presidential themed crypto
Mean Girls episode parody about the Salem Witch trials or Bloody Queen Mary. They write themselves.
Episode where the main cast keep finding dead bodies, basically tripping over them, parody of teen murder mysteries, twist ending that the bodies are all failed/early clones (like the clone equivalent of a stillbirth. there was no murder)
Yellow Jackets Parody episode. the bus is out of gas or something and they're stuck in a large parking lot but act like they're in the woods.
Traveling championship episode. Debate team has to compete against high school where all the students are robots programmed to behave like the greatest scientists/leaders of all time
Trans episode parody. Abe realizes he isn't aligned with the modern republican party anymore and is therefore a Democrat, treated as a self-aware bad analogy maybe to the point of other characters finding it tasteless/annoying/Abe looking for attention
Cyberbullying episode parody, bonus points if it's gossip girl
Secret cousin/twin parody episode --- obvious starting point would be like. Anastasia because of how many people famously claimed to be her.
Supernatural teen romance parody episode. Abe tries to become a vampire with like Edgar Allen Poe or someone to impress Joan.
"Save the community center" episode --- This could be a great Harriet focused episode about like a bake sale or something to fund the arts but everyone is over exaggerating the stakes and the drama of being/not being a good baker. "My grandmother used to bake these cookies for me.....until she DIED" "My mother baked these cookies for me everyday I was in the hospital after falling out of that helicopter and they gave me the strength to survive" "I can't bake....my mom was always too busy with her business to teach me....." etc.
Big Mouth/Sex Ed parody episode. I think it would be really funny if THIS had been their technology episode, like getting a computer virus is treated like getting a STD and the cast talk about browsing the internet like it's casual sex, etc.
parody of those tasteless episodes about how like bullying leads to school shootings. Have like Abe or Joan or someone try to reach out to Napoleon or someone because they eat alone at lunch and because they think it's silly and mean everyone is afraid of them but then they are just like a violent maniac already. the solution is to get rid of him.
this might sound dumb but remember that one episode of jimmy neutron where jimmy was banned from the science fair for being too smart and killing the morale of any other student interested in participating? What if Clone High did that but as like a parody of anti-trans sports legislation. All the cloned scientists are banned from the science fair because it's an unfair advantage. All the Politian clones are banned from debate club, etc.
Social media/parasocial relationships parody episode where like JFK and Abe become obsessed with one another's online accounts not knowing it's them, despite Joan repeatedly telling them this, it becomes completely unhealthy but then whenever they do hang out together face-to-face they hate it and decide the parasocial relationship was better actually.
PRANK YOUTUBE/TIKTOK PARODY EPISODE ABOUT DB COOPER AND HOUDINI COME ON COME ON COME ON THIS ONE IS SO FUCKING OBVIOUS

Family Woes
Based on this request: "Willa has a younger sister y/n and her and the wolf pack are overprotective and y/n can't leave their sight. So y/n runs away and the pack finds her and they make up and live happily ever after"
masterlist
Tumblr media
Willa Lykensen is at her wit’s end trying to get this pack in order. She was never supposed to take it this far. Willa was nominated temporary leader of the werewolves when their moonstones were at an all time power shortage and everyone was sick. Sure, she did a decent job of getting everyone back in order, but they came pretty close to not coming out on top.
Willa always assumed that once things were better, responsibility would leave her shoulders. The problem is that such a time has come again and again, and passed by just as quickly. Willa still remains in this position, slightly separated from everyone else yet unaware of how to get back to whoever she had been before all this. Willa tries to relinquish power, but no one takes it, and so she keeps on going anyway.
Sometimes she feels like a train that’s lost control, a great mass of steel and destruction hurtling at a thousand miles per hour towards the rocky unknown. Willa keeps slamming the brakes but nothing ever happens to stop her. At some point, she’s going to make a bad call and the pack is going to suffer, but until that moment, all Willa can do is keep pulling one Hail Mary after another to make sure her people stay alive and relatively unharmed.
So far, all is mostly well. They managed to find the moonstone and the werewolves were able to recharge their necklaces. They could even all take up homes in Seabrook and finally stop living on the outskirts of a place that had once been theirs. Willa goes to school, she makes friends, she learns enough in her books to realize that a kid like her shouldn’t have the job that she does.
At the same time, Willa has to admit that she sort of likes feeling important. Belonging is important to any werewolf, and she is no exception. It is something wonderful to feel wanted, needed even, but the stress is starting to tear her asunder. Willa looks in the mirror and swears a thousand times that she can do this. The reflection, a girl who could probably be her, mouths the same words back, but it’s far less believable when she’s looking herself in the eyes.
Willa’s friends seem to have confidence in her, which is nice. Willa would never dare show a single sign of weakness, but having her friends and family desert her might be her last straw. Wyatt stays by Willa’s side, and even the zombies and humans are able to offer up willing shoulders to lean on if she needs it.
There is one person that’s not entirely on Willa’s side, though. Although Willa does her best to run both the pack and her family, one of her closer relatives seems to stifle under Willa’s leadership instead of growing by it. Y/N, Willa’s younger sister, becomes more and more troublesome by the hour.
That’s what it feels like, at least. Willa asks Zed time and time again if it seems like she’s being too harsh on her younger sister, seeing as Zed is used to having a supernatural younger sister, but he assures her otherwise every time. Willa treats Y/N the same way as the rest of the pack, he sees no concern there.
Still, Willa feels differently. Willa tries to talk to Y/N almost every day, maybe even every hour, but Y/N shuts her down every time. Sometimes the missed connections just result in a sort of awkwardness that isn’t supposed to happen between siblings, other times it leads to fights that lead in one or both of the girls storming out until they pretend nothing happened for a temporary truce.
Willa tries, she really does. It’s just hard when Willa remembers what it had been like when they were younger. Willa swears there was a time in which the sisters actually did get along. It was them against the world, playmates and schoolmates and friends who could tell each other anything. It seems the changing of the times has split them apart as surely as only a difference in years truly can.
Previously, Willa had not been aware of the fact that she was getting older. The knowledge came incrementally, of course; new shoes were outgrown, jeans rose above her ankles, but all those signs could be ignored if one tried hard enough. It took more solid proof for her to come to grips with the fact that she was no longer quite so young and naive as she once had been.
Willa rereads old books that had been her favorites and scoffs at the juvenile attitudes of the characters. Her sister tells Willa that she no longer acts the same way, even though Willa has no idea what would have been different in her attitude nor how to fix it.
The only thing Willa can do is try to watch out for her sister. Willa doubles her focus, hoping that maybe making her sister feel important will build more bridges than it burns. The opposite happens; every time Willa shows a clear indication of trying to watch out for Y/N, the other girl recoils from Willa’s every move.
It all comes to a head about six months after the werewolves find the moonstone and move into Seabrook for good. Y/N came home several hours later after school without telling anyone that she wouldn’t be on time. Willa was pacing around the house when Y/N finally showed up.
Although Y/N tried to act like nothing was the matter, the guilty duck of her head when she opened the door to find Willa waiting for her was as sure a sign as any that she knew something was wrong.
Willa doesn’t wait for pleasantries, she never has. “Where were you?”
“Good to see you too,” Y/N mumbles, clearly annoyed, “Thanks for asking about my day, it was wonderful. How was yours?”
“Don’t try and play around,” Willa fires back, “you’re late. What happened?”
Y/N shrugs. “I was talking to a friend and we stayed late to study. No big deal.”
Y/N tries to move past, but Willa blocks her way. “Not so fast. You have to tell me about these sorts of things, you know. I had no idea where you were. For all I knew, you could have been hurt somewhere and in need of help.”
“Or I could have been just fine,” Y/N counters, “which is what happened. Seriously, calm down. I’m what, a couple of hours late? It’s not even dark outside yet.”
“You should be happy it’s not dark,” Willa argues, “if it was, I would have sent out some of the pack to search for you. You have to realize that this isn’t okay.”
Y/N scoffs. “That’s crazy. I’m allowed to have some freedom, you know.”
Willa folds her arms across her chest. “That freedom doesn’t involve giving me a heart attack every other day because you decide to do stuff like this. Come on, how hard is it to just text me?”
Y/N groans. “It shouldn’t even matter. You’re so overprotective, same as the rest of the pack. Just let me have a little bit of breathing room.”
Willa arches a brow. “Overprotective? We’re trying to watch out for you. You’re still a kid, Y/N.”
“And you aren’t?” Y/N asks pointedly, “I’m just trying to live my life. I’m sure you did the same thing as me when you were my age.”
“You shouldn’t have to do the same things as me, because I’m trying to protect you from all that,” Willa counters, “I want you to have a normal life.”
“If you want me to be normal, you have to stop being such a helicopter parent,” Y/N replies, clearly frustrated. “Just leave me alone.”
Willa isn’t willing to let this go quite so easily. “Not a chance. You’re too young to be doing all this. We’re not done until we can agree on a solution to that.”
Y/N lets out an angry breath. “You really can’t let that go?”
“No, I can’t,” Willa says, “Not until you realize that your bad choices are going to get you killed.”
“At least then I wouldn’t be as ridiculously uptight as you,” Y/N spits out, “you’re a pain to be around. I’m sick of being in this house.”
This time, instead of trying to escape to a different room, Y/N turns around and leaves again. Willa moves to stop her, but it’s too late, her sister’s already hurrying back away into the street. In seconds, she’s turned a corner and is out of sight.
Wyatt appears down the hall. “I heard shouting, what was that about?”
Willa groans. “I’ve messed things up with Y/N. She says we’re too overprotective.”
Wyatt grimaces. “She might be right there. I know you’re just trying to keep her safe, but everyone needs a little bit of space to grow into their own person.”
“I wish you’d told me that a little earlier,” Willa sighs, “she looked mad.”
Willa holds out hope that Y/N will realize she overreacted and come home, but even after night falls, there’s no sign of her younger sister. To make herself feel better, Willa pretends that Y/N’s just spending the night with a friend, but after a few discreet texts to Addison and Bree, she finds out otherwise. Wherever she is, Y/N is with no friends of theirs.
That does it. Willa rallies a few sympathetic werewolves and sets out as a search party. The wolves have always been good hunters, and within the span of about an hour or so of stalking through the woods surrounding Seabrook, Wyatt tugs gently on Willa’s arm.
“Over there,” he whispers.
Willa nods gratefully at him and sets over. Out of the corner of her eyes, she can see Wyatt quietly alerting the other werewolves that it’s alright. The others start to leave, but Wyatt lingers in the background just in case.
Y/N is walking through the forest, either heedless of the surrounding darkness or just choosing to ignore it. She doesn’t flinch when Willa calls out her name, just squares her shoulders and keeps walking.
“I don’t want to talk to you,” she says.
Willa sighs. “But I want to talk to you. I’m sorry, Y/N. Really, I am. I was wrong to try to be so overprotective. You deserve your space. I was just scared that you’d get hurt.”
Y/N laughs bitterly. “You’re just saying that to try and get me to go back to the house.”
“Partially,” Willa admits, “but also it’s true. If you want to go have a sleepover at a friend’s house to get away from me, fine. I just don’t want you to be mad at me the whole time.”
Y/N stops walking, which Willa takes as a small victory. “Really?” She asks doubtfully.
“Really,” Willa says. “Of course, I’m hoping you will just come home, but if you’re with a friend, that still means someone’s watching out for you. It doesn’t always have to be me.”
An irritated look flashes over Y/N’s face. “See, that’s the same thing. You’re still overprotective.”
“I probably always will be,” Willa confesses, “that’s the problem. Do you remember when everyone was so sick because we couldn’t find the moonstone? I was so terrified of losing you that it never really left me. I know I can be annoying, but it’s all I really know. You keep running off and it freaks me out for the same reason.”
Y/N’s expression softens. “Willa, I had no idea,” she begins.
Willa nods mechanically. “You weren’t supposed to know. Guess I wanted you to keep seeing me as a totally cool older sister. Problem is, that can get pretty frustrating. I know that now.”
Y/N stays silent for what could be just a few minutes, but feels more like an eternity or two. “Alright,” she says at last, “I’ll go back. Just promise that you’ll back off more.”
“I’ll try,” Willa promises. She thinks she might stick by it, too.
Only on securing that compromise does Y/N turn around and begin heading back towards home. Willa falls in behind her, but not before flashing Wyatt a thumbs up so he can go too. It might be crazy hard trying to run this pack, but at least Willa can count on her family. That is everything.

I've read a lot of your posts, but I don't how you can say that Supernatural was not queerbaiting. What do you mean by 'it was structural'? The PTB never let Dean and Cas be in love, they just strung us all along and then slammed the door in our faces? Killed the gay and then never mentioned Cas again? That is queerbaiting, plain and simple.
Hi friend. Well, this is why: there are too many things, especially starting from the arc in season 7 where Cas is working with Crowley, that simply DO NOT MAKE SENSE unless Dean is in love with Cas, and Cas is in love with Dean. I mean... what do you mean they never let them be in love? Were we watching the same show?
Like, Why does Dean look back at Cas with that injured look on his face when Cas is working with Crowley? Why does Dean forgive Cas for breaking Sam's brain almost immediately? Why does Dean take Cas's stupid trenchcoat with him through a series of stolen cars when he thinks Cas is dead after the Leviathans? Why does he look like he is going to die on the spot when he meets Emmauel and his wife? Why was Dean in Purgatory for a year, refusing to leave even though he had a way out until he found 'the angel'? Why is Cas not leaving Purgatory with him so devastatingly painful that he has to rewrite his memories to cope? Why does Dean telling Cas he needs him break Naomi's conditioning in that crypt? Why do they forgive each other irrationally again and again and again? What in the holy name of all that is totally fucking gay was Dean's confession about? Why does the narrative very explicitly parallel Cain's wife with Cas? Why does it parallel Cas and Eileen? Why can't Dean, possessed with the mark of Cain, kill Cas? Why does Cas let Dean beat him up or hold him back, like, EVER? Why did Mary fucking know the minute she met Cas? Why did Castiel, angel of the lord, let Dean dress him up like a fucking cowboy? Why does Sam always have that look on his face when they bicker? Why is losing Cas what breaks Dean down like nothing else? Why is their relationship breaking, being mended and fucking saving the world the most important emotional arc and plot element of the entire final season? Why does Dean always look like he is literally choking on his own heart whenever anything Cas is involved? Wherefore all those insane Jacting Joices?? Like, I could go on and on, but their love for each other is the backbone of SO MUCH of that story, and there is simply too much of Supernatural that doesn't make a lick of sense if Dean is not queer and in love with Cas, and Cas doesn't love Dean beyond all human understanding.
And listen: I don't care what anyone involved in the making Supernatural says about it! The text is the text, and it is profoundly, thoroughgoingly queer. They loved each other. They were each other's primary relationship, and nearly every other character on the show sees it and SAYS it.
Here's what I wish the "QUEERBAITING!!!" crowd would remember: there are a lot of queer experiences in the world to represent, and not all of them are defined by who tongue wrestles and fucks who. Not all of them are sexual at all! Not all of them are happy endings. There are a lot of queer people who don't work out their trauma and hetero conditioning until it's too late somehow, and who have to make peace with just being, or just saying it, and not having, again and again and again. There are a lot of queer people, even now, who can't look their real selves in the eye. There are queer people out there who want a thing they can't have, or think they can't have, and don't say anything at all about it. The fact that they can't say it, or can't have it doesn't make them any less fully fucking queer.
Some of us queers felt seen and represented by this story, Don't erase us just because you didn't get to see two pretty men make out.
That said, the majority of the final two episodes of Supernatural were egregious examples of narrative malpractice, and we all deserved better. Dean and Cas deserved better. I will agree with you there. But, that's not queerbaiting; it's just poor storytelling and denial. The queerness was already BAKED IN, and fully present, and I would argue it was there from the get go, that it went from a character based on a bisexual beat-era dude in a story about profound Daddy issues to the most romantic love story I have ever seen with my eyes on TV.
Seriously, SPN fandom catechism is so tired.

Hello everyone! It's time for a new book list :) This month, our theme is witches, an idea that was suggested in a recent survey and that I thought sounded really fun! I realized after I'd already made the list that our current book also fits this theme. Oops! But hey, you can never have too many witches.
As always, please vote for our next book using the link at the end of the post.
Hour of the Witch, by Chris Bohjalian
Tumblr media
Boston, 1662. Mary Deerfield is twenty-four years old. Her skin is porcelain, her eyes delft blue, and in England she might have had many suitors. But here in the New World, amid this community of saints, Mary is the second wife of Thomas Deerfield, a man as cruel as he is powerful. When Thomas, prone to drunken rage, drives a three-tined fork into the back of Mary's hand, she resolves that she must divorce him to save her life. But in a world where every neighbor is watching for signs of the devil, a woman like Mary--a woman who harbors secret desires and finds it difficult to tolerate the brazen hypocrisy of so many men in the colony--soon finds herself the object of suspicion and rumor. When tainted objects are discovered buried in Mary's garden, when a boy she has treated with herbs and simples dies, and when their servant girl runs screaming in fright from her home, Mary must fight to not only escape her marriage, but also the gallows. A twisting, tightly plotted thriller from one of our greatest storytellers, Hour of the Witch is a timely and terrifying novel of socially sanctioned brutality and the original American witch hunt.
The Lighthouse Witches, by C.J. Cooke
Tumblr media
When single mother Liv is commissioned to paint a mural in a 100-year-old lighthouse on a remote Scottish island, it's an opportunity to start over with her three daughters--Luna, Sapphire, and Clover. When two of her daughters go missing, she's frantic. She learns that the cave beneath the lighthouse was once a prison for women accused of witchcraft. The locals warn her about wildlings, supernatural beings who mimic human children, created by witches for revenge. Liv is told wildlings are dangerous and must be killed.
Twenty-two years later, Luna has been searching for her missing sisters and mother. When she receives a call about her youngest sister, Clover, she's initially ecstatic. Clover is the sister she remembers—except she's still seven years old, the age she was when she vanished. Luna is worried Clover is a wildling. Luna has few memories of her time on the island, but she'll have to return to find the truth of what happened to her family. But she doesn't realize just how much the truth will change her.
The Witch's Heart, by Genevieve Gornichec
Tumblr media
Angrboda's story begins where most witches' tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest. There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.
Their union produces three unusual children, each with a secret destiny, who Angrboda is keen to raise at the edge of the world, safely hidden from Odin's all-seeing eye. But as Angrboda slowly recovers her prophetic powers, she learns that her blissful life—and possibly all of existence—is in danger.
With help from the fierce huntress Skadi, with whom she shares a growing bond, Angrboda must choose whether she’ll accept the fate that she's foreseen for her beloved family…or rise to remake their future. From the most ancient of tales this novel forges a story of love, loss, and hope for the modern age.
The Once and Future Witches, by Alix E. Harrow
Tumblr media
In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box.
But when the Eastwood sisters--James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna--join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten words and ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement. Stalked by shadows and sickness, hunted by forces who will not suffer a witch to vote-and perhaps not even to live-the sisters will need to delve into the oldest magics, draw new alliances, and heal the bond between them if they want to survive.
There's no such thing as witches. But there will be.
The Mercies, by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
Tumblr media
Finnmark, Norway, 1617. Twenty-year-old Maren Bergensdatter stands on the craggy coast, watching the sea break into a sudden and reckless storm. Forty fishermen, including her brother and father, are drowned and left broken on the rocks below. With the menfolk wiped out, the women of the tiny Northern town of Vardø must fend for themselves.
Three years later, a sinister figure arrives. Absalom Cornet comes from Scotland, where he burned witches in the northern isles. He brings with him his young Norwegian wife, Ursa, who is both heady with her husband's authority and terrified by it. In Vardø, and in Maren, Ursa sees something she has never seen before: independent women. But Absalom sees only a place untouched by God and flooded with a mighty evil.
As Maren and Ursa are pushed together and are drawn to one another in ways that surprise them both, the island begins to close in on them with Absalom's iron rule threatening Vardø's very existence.
Please vote for our next book here.

BLOGTOBER 10/30/2023: TALK TO ME (2022)
Tumblr media
When I was 9 or 10 years old, I went to a slumber party with a lot of other girls who started a game of choking each other for the rush. I didn't participate, but watched in fascination as they took turns making each other pass out for several hours. Early on, it devolved into a lot of girls faking it so they could then pretend to say outrageous things "in their sleep", so this wasn't as extreme a scenario as it may sound. However, there's something deeply perverse about it, at least relative to the (bullshit, often harmful) "innocence" society projects onto children, and I wasn't sure if I should even write this all down. I had a feeling that probably lots of little kids have done this, but I couldn't be sure. I tried looking it up on the internet, and found a pretty upsetting article about it from just a few years ago. So, I suppose it's probably pretty common, and has been so, though it's not always the casual thing I remember from childhood. I thought about this for the first time in decades when I recently saw TALK TO ME, a strange and original Australian horror movie that I'm really sorry I missed in theaters.
Tumblr media
Mia (Sophie Wilde), an alienated teenager struggling with her mother's suicide and her father's subsequent withdrawal from her, finds a bizarre form of comfort in a disturbing game she learns at a house party. Local delinquents have somehow procured an embalmed, severed hand that causes anyone who holds it to become possessed by ghosts. This is safe when done for short periods of time, beyond which there lie untold perils. Inevitably, Mia breaks the rules in order to reunite with her late mother--a foolish mistake that sets off a gruesome chain of events, threatening to destroy her along with all of her loved ones.
Tumblr media
For a movie with such a fun and stylish veneer, TALK TO ME is surprisingly sad and grim, and also unpredictable. Things about it didn't quite add up for me: Where does this object come from? Why do the kids accept its extraordinary supernatural effects so readily and fearlessly? What effect does it exactly have on them, that cause them to behave like addicts, endlessly going back for more even when many of them are humiliated by the behavior of the possessing spirits? At that, why do kids play games like Bloody Mary, where the expectation is that a demoness will spring out of your mirror and murder you? Why are Ouija Boards all the more attractive because of the rumored dangers? These questions dredged up my ancient memories of the choking game, something that may not have made sense to most adults, because it was a little scary, and because it broke the rules around what society assumes about innocent young children. At that, there may be something to the fact that TALK TO ME was made by first-time filmmakers Michael and Danny Philippou, whose relative inexperience may have given them the freedom to ignore the usual expectations. This produces a rather uncertain viewing experience that sometimes results in a breech of contract with the audience, who may not expect something as intense as this movie becomes.
Tumblr media
Obviously this is a commercial graphic related to where to stream TALK TO ME, but it so represents my feelings about being a film lover in the modern world that I'm including it anyway.
Of course, I had to look up who the filmmakers were, which was sort of an unpredictable journey in and of itself. First it was like...oh no, they're YouTubers. I really don't want anything to do with that whole entire culture. Then further down their Wikipedia page there's the Controversies section, and I was like, Oh no, half the time I am forced to hear about a YouTuber, it's because someone has been outed as a gross predator, I don't know if I even wanna look... And then I read what was in there. Twice. And I was OK with it:
Tumblr media
The End.

*Dips glasses in Corporate Oil and looks around*
Tumblr media
Alright guys. Let's do this, let's talk about where we really are, developmentally. With the WB, CW, The Winchesters and Gotham Knights (this piece will admittedly focus most heavily on Winchesters, as I know more about its actual development than GK, but the corporate elements of WB will apply to it).
All of it. Because you guys have come to realize there's a lot behind the veil.
Has anyone been watching the Snydercut battle in DC? This seems like a random place to start with for Supernatural, but I promise you, it's critical in understanding what's happened, where we've been, where we've traveled and where we can possibly head from here.
Tumblr media
So how is it DC ended up here, and how is it relevant to Supernatural?
Everyone's entitled to their own view of media within reason, depending on their aggression about it proportionately in relation to the actual content and what it is beyond what it's fought about. Personally, I always found Snyder's stuff reductive to characters and just mindlessly operating on rule of cool, but some dudes liked it. So when the first hollering started, I thought, good for you, voice what you believe.
But they never shut up. Instead, they amplified, they got more shrill, all points were taken to the seventeenth degree, VERY bizarre and lowkey threatening videos were made. On and on and on and on and on.
And now they're acting surprised that after literal years of it, the new CEO wants them to shut the fuck up and considers it all a mistake. Gee, I wonder what gave him that fucking idea.
OK. Cool. So anyway, remember the S12 market testing? The stuff I was posting about in S12, that everyone from Patrick to Mary Manchin argued with me about until years later we figured out how to safely clear the receipts without anybody getting blown off the planet with lawsuits?
2016 was leaning closer to modern TV. Closer to the representation demands the younger teen audience generally sets and demands, assuming it will be present on all products. We were leaning that way. So why would, say, Dean and Cas need market testing?
Well, perhaps, it's because in season 9, shortly after Carver recovered the property from near cancellation into being CW's #1 hit above all, the Destiel fandom decided to monkey climb some oblivious business suit without any context of the development chain leading Destiel to where it was at that point. They harassed him until he deleted twitter, they ran multiple articles trying to burn the property down as queerbait, then when the S10 packets dropped with a new sexuality section declaring everybody straight, and everything hit lockdown, they made fucking confused noises and called it Victim Blaming to point out any sort of liability in the dramatic lockdown.
But listen, Chad Kennedy does not fucking care what you think is fair or equitable. He cares about money, his properties, and NOT being torn apart by little shitheads on twitter. For god's sake, his name is fucking Chad, how did you guys expect a Corporate Chad to react.
Less stupid fans had put together books of stats, demographics, and LGBTQ or general audience testimony to package off to elite names in that same S9 year, only for one to survive and move into the room, and be shared by a new showrunner named Dabb, at the same time market testing coincidentally began.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was already a contentious topic. Turning around a 2005 behemoth that is distinctly not packaged as LGBTQ ware is harder than turning around the titanic and even what berens accomplished was impressive in perspective. I hate market segregation as much as anybody, but it's a reality.
You know what else is a reality?
That the Winchesters is branded as an LGBTQ property out of the gate, as is the developing studio running it, with permission to use the IP, and the potential namesake character there may be reservations over is played by that same studio owner, with 15 years of history.
Zaslav just completely wiped out the upper ranks at WB. Roth had already left and Zaslav called him back personally. Roth, Jensen's mentor, is directly advising Zaslav on properties. So genuinely speaking, who is more qualified than the managing production house owner with 15 years experience with this content and particularly this character to make decisions on what to do with that character, if Roth tells Zaslav to just let Jensen do what he do.
This is a real potential in the air. Other corporate shakeups in the past have sort of been [rolls the dice] "maybe they're not dicks???? no????" but this time there is actually a path through the woods.
Beyond even the queerness of it, the entire structure of the Winchesters is very revealing of how much Roth warned Jensen.
For all the chicken little nonsense about Nexstar aging up, they're actually taking the alternative path I had implied other media outlets were missing, which is instead diversifying the age bracket of content while rotating in things closer to pre-merger CW like (hopefully black) sitcoms. Their new statement is "give us the new, but also give us what we would have had old". They've stated they intend to stay on genre TV but the age restriction isn't just for kids, the content and budget will be more targeted.
Congrats, we're getting something not just mass produced swill, but things WB is banking its entire network TV future on.
Depending on the response to what properties they chose to order, this is them fighting for their rights to timeslot on Nexstar before Nexstar reappraises 2023-2024 content from other sources being brought in. This is why, for example, Misha commented on the size of GK's budget compared to normal, or why Winchesters had enough time, and budget, to reshoot, which SPN never ever fucking had.
Roth warned Jensen. Because for all the confused noises fandom made about "Why John Mary?" it's actually simple if you think about the world beyond yourself. If you go "maybe other people are different than me?" well.
The 70s. A fanciful, whimsical time. the 50+ audience will live for it. And even with shit like Carlos because they remember the 70s they'll remember their gay friend carlos too. But the cast is young and vibrant and queer to bring in new blood and generations, and Dean (and the eventual others) will be there for the older, middle-aged if you will fans that grew with the series.
Roth warned Jensen. Because Jensen built the perfect product to survive the diversification demands of CW/Nexstar. And made the next potential packaged truly viral product to match its forebearer. And all in a time that Zaslav is searching for strong franchises.
Don't know how far, exactly, we'll get to go but we've never had such a clear path there before. There's a possible path through the woods and we're on it with Dean, looking through the haze to see what light is at the end of the road.
Tumblr media
Gotham is also getting the benefit of this to some extent, but Gotham is not itself the launch of a franchise as much as a safe bubble in which to use an existing franchise during a tumult. Both are important in different ways, and both are WB's future stake in TV network share or full collapse into digital by 2025.
"We must see the bigger picture. Even in the darkest hour, our light is waiting to guide us."

Mag 11
Finally we've gotten deep enough into the series that I won't necessarily have a million thoughts on ever single episode. (Perfect time to test out a new post format.)
Tumblr media
Extremely interesting that Oliver is able to lie to the Eye. Possibly, this is an ability granted by the End? He has been serving it for almost a decade at this point.
I think a more likely explanation is that the Eye allowed him to lie his way through the door for the purpose of getting a statement it wouldn't otherwise have gotten.
Tumblr media
Interesting to hear from a guy whose life was already in shambles before anything spooky ever touched him. Also, hello again Graham!
Tumblr media
Big fan of the way this episode describes experiencing things in dreams: movement without walking, knowledge without learning, pain without nerves.
Tumblr media
Right from the very first dream, the End is alreasy both nourishing Oliver and stripping away his emotions like it did with Georgie.
Tumblr media
John counter: 4.
Tumblr media
I know TMA loves to dwell in how miserable and hopeless everything is, but it's amazing how many people realise they have started developing some kind of supernatural ability and immediately attempt to use it to try and make the world better somehow.
Tumblr media
I've always been confused by this, because the statement-givers make their statements in Research, right? So what was Oliver doing down in the Archives looking at Gertrude?
I think there's something about how certain statement-givers are sent down to the Archives directly when Research is too busy (that's the justification for Jon taking live statements) so maybe that's what's happening here? But then why isn't Gertrude taking the statement live?
Anyway I didn't include want to include a dozen screenshots of descriptions of offices and walls, but this episode includes some of the most detailed descriptions of the actual physical Institute building that we ever get in the series, which is handy for fic writing.
Tumblr media
Love that Gertrude's death is so monumentally important that it covers the entirety of London with weird death veins. Nobody's doing it like her.
Tumblr media
Maybe Gertrude had an unofficial policy of never taking live statements, in an attempt to keep herself as distant from the Eye as possible. I'm trying to remember live statements that Gertrude took and the only ones that are coming to me are from Mary Keay, Eric Delano and her old friend who was in the war. So, all people she knew personally and would make an exception for.
No idea if this will hold true or not as the series continues, we'll have to wait and see.
Tumblr media
It's true, Elias is worse than anything anyone could ever imagine...
This is definitely what prompted Gertrude to make recordings for Sasha prior to attempting to destroy the Institute. If only she had thought to try talking to her...
Also, gotta give Oliver major cryptic points for this ominous warning! This is top tier dramatic.

Basic review for IMDB on ‘Masters of War’  1x04 for The Winchesters:
--
I loved this episode a lot. It made me cry but obviously that's what we're going for!
I remembered when this show was first announced there was a fear that it'd gloss over the kind of person John wound up being in the main show and from what we heard from stories from other characters.
I hope this episode negated any of those fears.
And that's not to say those with PTSD always grow up to be like how John was, especially because we know that John's going to get screwed around with and we don't know what cosmic twists and turns are going to happen to exacerbate his internal demons. But I like that for the first three episodes, apart from a few moments, you see this cute, puppy-dog kinda guy learning how to hunt and making his new friends and going along for this adventure -
But now we're confronted with the fact that he indeed faced horrors in the middle as a child really because he illegally signed into the war too young, and that combined with other issues stemming from the mystery of his father growing up, seemingly combined into what we saw in this episode.
Because while watching Supernatural, we never really knew what John's deal was. It was speculated that he did have PTSD, if not from the war then from seeing his wife burn alive on the ceiling, or that he was always mean, or that he was maybe soulless or possessed - anything really.
The reason why I like this show is that it is constantly reminding me that this is, indeed, a tragedy we're going to witness. No matter the twists no matter the turns, John and Mary will end up where they ended up.
It's hard to have my brain suddenly go from Supernatural's adult John, and the scorn I had for him, to seeing this and having empathy and feeling very sad for him. However, I think that's also such a great thing.
One of my favorite bits was at the end of the episode and you see the other three characters dealing with their trauma in a way that helps them: Carlos is at that group veteran therapy session, Lata and Mary are together, but John's isolated away from them, even from his own mother until she comes in, and crying. That speaks volumes (and also made me cry volumes) to me. It's a sign of what's to come. Already in the last three episodes, even in this one, John's often fighting alone. They're a group but he always finds himself isolated. And I feel like, given how many falling outs he's had in his adult life, per Sam's comments in the OG show, this is going to continue to be a trend.
And seeing him in the tub, and even seeing him freaking out in the hospital and trying to calm himself, I wanted to walk into the TV and try to give him a hug myself! It's sad when you can see the beginnings of the road a character's about to take, knowing where they're going to end up, and not being able to do anything to try and steer them in the other direction.
It's really powerful stuff and helps really start to flesh out a character that we really only knew through other characters' stories about him as a grown man.
Another thing I loved about this episode is Carlos. I mean, I love him in general, but specifically, I like how they contrasted John's eagerness for a fight, signing up for the war underaged, all that jazz - to Carlos, who didn't go into service the same way, who also experienced trauma, and in contrast to a fighter, he was a medic; he helped to heal people. I loved that contrast to them, and I liked the exchange where Carlos and John talked about that group session and John's PTSD over having seen his friend blow up in front of him. John's shutting down the possibility of going back into a group like that and talking about it, versus Carlos embracing it, again added more to the character dynamics.
And not to forget about Mary and Lata.
Mary is like, truly alone in terms of blood family. Her mother and father are separated, legally and marriage-wise, and one's on a hunt and the other is missing - and she lost another relative, a cousin, who was like a sister to her. Lata helping Mary through that, both of them really helping each other, really helped me love their friendship even more. Even that cute moment in the park when Mary goes and meets Kyle and Lata's failing terribly at acting casual! That made me laugh.
Other elements of the episode were great as well, but I loved the whole 'inner demons' message, and that yes - not all the time people will take the path towards healing but towards a kind of self-preservation of not confronting said demons.
My final bit that I loved was at the end of the fight with the god, it mirrored kind of Dean in 15x19 but like, in the opposite kind of way. In 15x19, Dean tells Chuck, who thinks Dean's gonna kill him, "That's not who I am" and walks away. John didn't walk away and instead stabbed the god so hard with that broken spear that it killed him and then continued to attack him. It echoed back also to the Mark of Cain arc in SPN where Dean won't stop going at Abaddon, despite her already being dead. Dean had lost himself there, and I think John lost himself in his situation too. And I think he knows it, but instead of confronting it, he will continue to run from it because confronting it is too painful, too uncomfortable, and we never want to feel in pain or uncomfortable.
I loved this episode very much, I loved how heavy it was, I loved the subtext, I loved the implications and the character development.

31 FICS OF FRIGHT
DAY 1- THE LADDER OF LUCK
Dhawan!Master x Reader
Prompt: Superstition
Notes: Welcome to the first chapter of My Halloween mini fic series! This year i’ve decided to challenge myself and write 30 randomly generated mini fics with the five main Masters, ending with a remaster on the 31st. These will be daily slice of life style rather than my usual essays fics with a full story. Think of them as little tricks and treats for the most wonderful time of the year! Hopefully you enjoy!
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
“I’m not superstitious, Master. Why should I be?”
The Master sent you a disapproving look from the top of the wheeled ladder you’d just passed under. He leant against the top shelf, one hand on his hip, the other leaning on the tall bookcase in the east corner of the library. He couldn’t believe it- you’d just waltzed straight under him, completely ignoring the most basic, fundamental wives tale there is.
“Because!” he argued, placing his hardback in its gap upon the shelf with a frown.
“You humans always are! With good reason, I should add.”
You rolled your eyes. He always was haplessly dramatic with the smallest things. It was something you usually adored about him. Except for times like this.
“It's just a bunch of, y’know, ‘Hocus Pocus’. Like manifesting destiny, you just start looking for patterns”.
You pulled another book from the shelf and began to flick through the pages. Above your head you heard the smooth glide of the ladder, and looked up to see the Master had pulled himself along the bookcase- both he and the ladder now looming before you. You closed the book, tucking it within the crook of your arm.
“Having fun up there?”
“What on earth are you talking about?”
You scoffed, which soon turned into a small laugh. You leant against the bookcase, sending the Master an exasperated smile.
“You break a mirror; they say it's bad luck. Supposedly. But in reality, you’re just looking for something spooky to place the blame on when things go wrong.”
Turning away from the Master, you continued to walk down the lengthy corridor of books. The sound of the ladder followed, the Master close behind you, his shadow hitting the floor under the warm lights that flanked each shelf.
“Oh no, I lost my job. Must have been the mirror. God damn bloody Mary.”
“Now she was a RIGHT piece of work.”
You stopped in your tracks, turning around to glare up at the Master. You’d only just noticed he’d put on his glasses. He should wear them more often, you thought.
“Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“The historical name dropping. You and the doctor always do it.”
The Master smirked, returning to his casual position of leaning against the top shelf.
“Y’know. I never suspected you to be a sceptic.”
“And why is that?”
“I thought you’d know better.”
You gaped up at the Timelord in offense. The Master braced himself against the edges of the ladder and slid down the golden rungs, before landing on the floor at your side.
“Now what on earth are YOU on about?”
The Masters arm found its way around your middle, moving to guide you towards the end of the row.
“Do you remember the story I told you of my dealings with Azal?”
You gave a small nod. You loved that story. Apart from the Master almost dying. But that was a usual part of his stories.
“Well, that whole thing made me want to dig deeper. Plus, I had a lot of time to myself in prison. So I started researching more into ancient myths, wives tales, that sort of thing. And y’know what I found out?”
“It's all bullshit?”
“It's all science!”
At that, you paused, finally at the end of the row. You send the Master an incredulous expression. He looked awfully proud of himself.
“Azal was an alien, dearest. Most of your earthly supernatural stories come from the likes of me landing on your sad, little old planet and making our mark.”
“But that doesn't explain how my palms being itchy means i'm gonna have good luck.”
“If you stopped interrupting, maybe I could tell you.”
You gave the Master a well meaning scowl as you moved to sit upon the plush sofa, sitting cross legged in view of the roaring fire.
The Master sat opposite, elegantly crossing his ankles as he lounged against the arm.
“Most superstitions come from probability fields, leftover energy. Like how you and I are drenched in artron energy from the time vortex.”
You pondered, tilting your head. “Serious?”
“As the plague, love. When that black cat crosses your path and you trip over a brick, it's because that cat's ancestors were probably the pets of some very unlucky aliens. Friday the 13th? Probably the day a race lost an army. It's a hereditary thing.”
You were so engrossed in the Masters explanation, you hadn't even noticed the steaming mug of hot chocolate that had appeared upon the table, sitting neatly upon a coaster. Piled high with whipped cream, covered in sprinkles and chocolate flakes, with a cluster of marshmallows neatly sat against the rim. The TARDIS liked to surprise you both. You’d yet to thank her fully.
“So yeah, superstitions are very much real.”
“I’m still not convinced, Master”
You eagerly uncrossed your legs, sitting up to grasp hold of the mug. You clutched the steaming vessel and suddenly recoiled from the heat, the mug crashing out of your hands and onto the ground below. The ceramic shattered, sending the hot drink soaking into the carpet, the marshmallows and sprinkles haphazardly sprawled on top of the melting cream in the shape of a wonky frown.
You looked at the Master for support, but couldn't find any. He simply watched in amusement, the timelord casually grasping his own drink, mug held tight in hand.
He took a hearty sip and licked the foam from the corner of his mouth.
“Mmm. Shouldn't have walked under that ladder.”

ok listenn idk if you care about john beyond pointing out how biased ppl are against him, but girl!sam universe where she looks exactly like young mary?? would be crazy. we r talking so many complexes at play here. plus yk. blond lucifer primary vessel
blond lucifer primary vessel is so important actually. she's a pretty princess.
anyway! here's an even better reason than in canon for john trying to hide as much supernatural stuff from sam as he can! because he looks at his little girl and she's got mary's blonde hair tumbling around her shoulders and mary's eyes looking up at him like he's got the power to make things better, but she doesn't have mary's smile, no, she smiles like dean does because she never got to see what mary looked like happy, nothing but a single photograph, frozen forever so that sam doesn't know how vibrant mary looked when she was smiling or how she sounded when she laughed. and anyway. he looks at her, and he can't let all that evil in the world touch her. as though, if she knows about it, it'll destroy her the moment she learns.
girl!sam who cuts her hair one day before school and that's the first big fight they ever have, only it's not really a fight at all because sam hasn't hit double digits and she's got awkwardly mismatched bangs and john yells anyway until she clams up trying not to cry. only later can he make himself apologize and trim her hair neater with his own hands, trying not to flinch as he cuts away little echoes of mary.
girl!sam who can't bring a boy home without john (and dean, but john gets scary about it) testing him relentlessly to make sure he isn't a demon. girl!sam who doesn't even make it to prom because dean's sent to sideline her when john catches just a whiff of sulfur on her prom date and spends an evening interrogating and exorcising him. girl!sam who doesn't learn the truth for far longer than in canon because dean picks up the fear from john, that if she learns, they'll lose her, and she's always boiling up inside about how john spent years hiding that there were monsters out there, years she could have spent helping him hunt just like dean was, and he didn't, because he can't see how avenging her mother would be more important than embodying her to sam. that fight? that's a real one. dragging john back to ugly memories of storming out of the house to leave mary furious in the kitchen. dean's even there trying to break up the fight and failing. only this time, it's m- sam. who leaves.
girl!sam who takes off for stanford, and john ends up following her most of the way there, barely restraining himself from knocking her out when she's ducking into a gas station bathroom while hitchhiking and kidnapping her because she won't be safe out there, he can't protect her. (nevermind that sam's as damn good a hunter as dean, but then we already know john letting dean out of his sight was a rarity even when he's a grown man at 26. no way he'd let sam, 17 or 18 and the spitting image of mary now, run off without at least considering that she'd be better off tied up in a safehouse somewhere until she forgets about college.
and when he does let her go... well, he doesn't really remember the rest of that night. his phone shows he left a voicemail. he never listens to see what he sent her. she never brings it up. he can't even be sure she ever heard it.
john who drops by stanford every other month, renews wards around sam's dorm in the middle of the night, places charms in flower pots, researches any professors and other student she gets close to. and a weird mixture of relief and surprise when jessica's who sam starts dating. because who knew, right? (even weirder jealousy, cause though mary's been dead for longer than he knew her alive, she's also right there, and there's a girl who gets to kiss her and love her in a way john's never going to know again.)
....girl!sam who john finds out is still azazel's child in blood. that nothing he did ever kept her from being touched by the supernatural. that he's going to lose her, the same way he lost mary. and he can't pull that trigger. no matter if it'd be for sam's own good. he just can't. he just. can't. (and he tells dean to do it. knowing he won't be able to either. that they'll both die before they let mary go again.)
her in a quiet moment, trying to share grief with john with how she lost jess. and all he can think of is that he couldn't have survived if it was her on the ceiling instead. guilty thinking about an innocent girl who died, but grateful that sam came out of the fire.
(and it always seemed strange to me that john somehow never came across people who knew the campbells as hunters? but say he did. say he did and when he sees sam cutting open a vamps neck or fighting back against meg, he sees a side of mary he never got to know in her.)
(also. going to tentatively edge into uncomfortable territory for me but i think i'm good, but. john who gets off to mary's memory, but years go by, the details fade, and to his horror, his brain starts using things he knows about sam (how she styles her hair, what shampoo she uses, etc) to make the pictures clearer. he doesn't stop, though.)
so, yeah. you know. i have a couple thoughts about girl!sam who looks like mary and how john would react to her.
oh you know what would be so funny. s5 john revival as michael's sword when dean won't say yes, and he gets to that graveyard and it's sam, it's mary, it's the devil, staring back at him. his worst nightmare come true.

supernatural s10e20 angel heart (w. robbie thompson)
knew it must be jimmy because he's got the little boy hairstyle like jerry in that episode of seinfeld
Tumblr media Tumblr media
s10e20 / seinfeld s5e8 the barber
huffing angel grace (??) combined with djinn-ish hallucinations, all right
oh, so we have two amelias. good planning. sam's and claire's mom. i'm going to not try to contemplate the logistics of claire living on her own and looking this put together and with cash to burn because i doubt the writers thought about it for more than 2 seconds either. i guess she's 18 now?
CASTIEL I need help from both of you. You were both troubled teens. You speak her language.
snorted
DEAN Close enough. Come on, give me something to punch already. I'm kidding. I'm fine. I'm just...I'm fine.
everything's fine!
DEAN Look, I'm just saying, she's been surviving on her own for quite a while now, and ... and then partly because she doesn't have anybody to answer to. You know, there's... There's nobody holding her back. CASTIEL We just found her in a hospital. You telling me that she'd be better off on her own? DEAN I'm saying she might be stronger on her own.
no one to keep him her accountable and not out slaughtering randos? he's fine though.
you know. one thing i really liked about mulder and scully's dynamic was that it was largely always them against the world. having there be friction between sam and dean so often that they overcome and then surprise some new fresh hell pops up, it is emotionally tiring and tiresome because it starts to feel less like the exception than the rule. i can see how 15 seasons of 20+ episodes is often going to lead to this type of problem. i'm still gonna bitch about it
Tumblr media
(another motel with a full sized appliance. not retro, just old fridge. i guess that's something but still wonky)
SAM Never got the chance to find out. My mom died when I was a baby. CLAIRE I'm ... I'm sorry. I didn't ... SAM Oh, no, it's okay. I-I got to know her later in life. And, yeah, I suppose we got along okay. CLAIRE What? SAM In this line of work, death isn't always good-bye.
casting back trying to remember when this sam actually interacted with mary and not her hallucination/ghost/someone wearing her face. was it a time travel thing? ugh. (5x13 i guess?)
claire has bomb ass hair that i'm making heart eyes over but the overstyling for her character is a shame. the curled ends, the half up but looped with the wrap around covering which would require pins? yeah, no. little bit reminds me of earlier teen wolf seasons where they did very beauty queen hair styling on the girls
Tumblr media
cas with the gift bag and dean's face, i'm cracking up. EVERYTHING'S FINE, dean's face twitches in rage
DEAN (standing up from the table) All right, I'm gonna get suited up and head back over there.
CASTIEL I'm coming with you. CLAIRE I'm coming with you, too. DEAN (turning towards Sam) You wanna get in on this?
so, they're just gonna roll up to a crime scene with an 18 year old in tow? bring your daughter to work day, uh huh
Tumblr media
CASTIEL No fighting. DEAN (scoffs) Yeah, tell her that. CASTIEL (sternly) Both of you.
yes, dad 😒 cheap laugh, i'll take it. leaving the two least (currently) sensible people together who don't get along seems like a poor choice
CASTIEL So do you think she's better off on her own? SAM Cas, she just turned 18. CASTIEL You were alone when you left for college at that age, weren't you? SAM Yeah, but that's different. CASTIEL How, Sam? SAM Here's all I know ... going it alone, that's no way to live. You being there for her, even if she thinks she doesn't want you to be there for her, that's good for both of you. CASTIEL Maybe, in the end. SAM In the end.
so is our sam admitting it wasn't good for him to leave for college alone? that kind of shakes up my idea of his characterization. maybe if it's just he wished he had kept contact with dean (begrudgingly adding) and john while at college? but still having his go at a normal life?
i mean, cute little claire and dean bickering-bonding with minigolf, even if i think it's not remotely believable :P dean's feeling less stabby, i guess. and an angel sword, okay. sure, why not
so even worser angel man was what, huffing bits of her soul? yes, apparently
ah yes, tearful reunion with mom, apologies all around, claire appreciates what dean and sam do for people, and mom's dead.
so i guess amelia and jimmy are soulmates too then? if they actually share a heaven? the whole conceit that everyone but soulmates has heaven alone is such a weird one. but do they get like, facsimiles of the people they love if they don't get to share heaven with them? like dean's memory-mom. or are all these people really just chill never talking to another soul ever. weird choices. i mean, it gave us canonical soulmates sam and dean which was a *wild* choice, but
Tumblr media
ha ha. so yes, adopted by jody too
CLAIRE Will you keep an eye on him? (Dean and Claire look over at Castiel who is talking with Sam) He's been through enough.
????? what. why would she say this? someone needs to keep an eye on him because he consistently makes the worst choices when left to his own devices -_-
golden hour lighting and nice choice of music at the end at least. blue eyes crying in the rain by willie nelson. eke out some feelings i wouldn't have had otherwise

Pick 10 ships without looking at the questions before
Just something I found and decided to kill an hour to do:
1. FierroChase (Alex Fierro and Magnus Chase, Gods of Asgard)
2. Wolfstar( Remus Lupin and Sirius Black, Harry Potter)
3. Captain Swan (Killian Jones and Emma Swan, Once Upon a Time)
4. Gallavitch (Micky Milkovich and Ian Gallagher, Shameless)
5. Nominita (Nomi Marks and Amanita Caplin, Sense8)
6. Korrasami (Korra and Asami Sato, The Legend of Korra)
7. EBay (Emmet Bletso and Bay Kennish, Switched at Birth)
8. Spitfire (Artemis Crock and Wall West, Young Jusitce)
9. Charlie Epps and Amita  Ramanujan (Numb3rs, Not a popular enough show to have a ship name to my disappointment)
10. Ash Redfern and Mary-Lynnette Carter (Night World, Same as above)
Question 1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 6?
I got the vibe right from the start where Korra only kept writing to Asami and nobody else, and was pleased as punch how the show hinted at them becoming a thing at the end, then whooped out loud when the show runners confirmed it after it was done
Question 2. Have you ever read a FanFiction about 2?
(Insert hysterical laugh and gestures at 90% of what I read in my free time)
Question  3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr avatar?
No, but mostly because I prefer images to couples
Question  4. If 7 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?
Ebay, They did break up! And I was not happy with it! I am still salty at how this ship ended and am convinced they would have gotten back together if the show kept going!
Question 5.  Why is 1 so important?
Alex Fierro was my spirit animal the moment he/ she was introduced, a shape shifter with an attitude, but a genuine person. What you see is what you get. Magnus being instantly in love with her/ him was my reaction too, and Alex deserves someone as wholesome and special as Magnus Chase
Question  6. Is 9 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Numb3rs, Oh it’s plenty serious, the show centers on their relationship a good chunk of the time and ends with their wedding and they’re so cute together in every scene. The episode where Amita is kidnapped, (Angels and Devils) still shocks and breaks my heart for Charlie every time I watch it.
Question  7. Out of all of your ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
Ugh, define chemistry?! I love all of these ships for the same reason in each, I love how they care for each other. In every ship I can identify one moment that makes my heart swell seeing them together in cannon and always puts a smile on my face.
If you mean chemistry as an explosion though, gun to my head forced answer, I pick Gallavitch
Question  8. Out of all of the ships, which ship has the strongest bond?
Ash and  Mary-Lynnette or Wolfstar, both have this soulmate eternal bond thing going for them where they can love other people but were meant to be together in every way and always find their way back
Forced answer, Ash and  Mary-Lynnette, since they’re literal soulmates rather than metaphorical ones
Question  9. How many times have you read/watched 10’s fandom?
A good dozen times in the past, but not recently. I read Nightworld in my teen years and quickly grew obsessed with the idea of soulmates, I already loved apocalypse end of the world type things plus supernatural themes, and it was the first ever reading the books fanfic I tried to do, but stopped for the same reason I haven’t reread it in a long time, the last book was never written! And at this rate probably never will be. I’m just still so smitten with every single soul mate in these nine books, Ash and  Mary-Lynette just rank number one of all of them
Question 10. Which ship has lasted the longest?
I’m not sure what answer it’s after here? In chronological years of the show, I think Gallavitch would win, despite being on and off so long they lasted years together and ended up together at the end. The show of these with the longest run time is also Shameless, so that one by default I guess, though FierroChase is immortal even having only three books, so they’d win long term?
If it’s asking which I’ve shipped the longest, Wolfstar, back when I first read PoA. I’ve read The Servant of Lord Voldemort more times than anybody can count and their scenes together cemented themselves as my first pairing as far back as I can remember before I was intentionally shipping anything, Remus and Sirius were always together from that moment on.
Question  11. How many times, if ever, has 6 broken up?
Well Korrasami was only confirmed off screen after the show ended, so none technically, but I don’t believe in perfect couples who never have a disagreement so realistically it’s bound to happen at least once in their happily ever after
Question  12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 2 or 8?
Wolfstar or Spitfire?
Depends on if magic is allowed in this zombie apocalypse. If Remus and Sirius are Muggles, sorry boys, Artemis and Wally (even in this totally human scenario where he’s not a speedster) Artemis would kick enough ass to save her boo to win
If they were all at their normal badass capacity? It’s a fair 50/50 shot for both. You’d have to do a Death Battle going over every iota of detail to pick a winner.
Question  13. Did 7 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
EBay sort of started as s secret so Bay wouldn’t hurt Daphne’s feelings, but after that no. In my head after the show, when Travis didn’t come home from Japan after the third time because of scheduling issues, Bay would have run back to Emmet and cheated on Travis to be together with him again and they would have hid that until it came out and she was back together with him. Not a nice, neat ending, but what I think would have inevitably happened.
Question  14. Is 4 still together?
Gallavich is a Yes! Married! Thinking about kids! (Like Yevginny doesn't exist and is never mentioned again? Which the show ignores but not the point!)
Question  15. Is 10 canon?
Ash and Mary-Lynette are sort of, yes, mostly absolutely, though not currently together do to personal reason the characters are working through :(
Question  16. If all ten ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
Ugh, way to many factors to consider with the varying degrees of powers going on in some of these.
If they were all human, again I like Artemis Crock’s chances of survival since she is already human and badass in a world of superhero's and basically another set of Katniss and Peta going on here.
Kilian has a decent chance of him and Emma winning for the same reason if you strip her Savior powers since they’re so resourceful as humans.
Alex and Magnus are basically a parallel (sometimes gender swapped) Peta and Katniss too on the scale going on here so they’d be scary contenders without their enerji boost.
Micky and Ian might have never had to survive outside the south side, but Ian’s got some minor military training and Micky’s just a terrifying brutal person with a blessed heart, so another insane match to beat. Those are my top four at minimum.
Question  17. Has anybody ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?
Nomi’s own parents! And Whispers can burn in hell where he belongs!
Question  18. Which ship would you defend to the death and beyond?
All. Of. Them. I have limited obsessions and you cannot fight me on their existence. The order that I go through each fandom is above.
Question  19. Do you spend hours a day going through 3’s tumblr page?
CaptainSwan; I would if there was more content :( Sadly I got here a lot late after the show was long done so there’s not much new
Question 20. If an evil witch descended from the sky and told you that you had to pick one of the ten ships to break up forever or else she’d break them all up forever, which ship would you sink?
I regret this entire experience just for this question, but if I must, Korrasami. I only have my own head cannon content to keep them together and I won’t sacrifice what I do have for the others for something I can reinvent after this evil witch leaves

The Winchesters 1x04: Masters of War
Hannibal Park Hospital
St. Joseph, Missouri
Mysterious Anger Management Dude™ gets kicked out of Super Cool Meeting, only to end up dead in another, cooler meeting. Errgg.
Tumblr media
“Fighting the battle between good and evil isn’t easy. Especially when the first monster you have to face is the one inside yourself”
Lawrence, Kansas
Mary and John work out some “frustrations” while sparring in the front yard.
Carlos arrives and calls it what it is:  Hetero Mating Ritual. Also, he has a case.
Tumblr media
John continues to murder Boris with his spot on Sam impression.
Carlos was out with an old Navy buddy when he told him about a strange death at Hannibal Park Hospital. John does a modest spit take when he learns that Carlos is a veteran. The man, Thomas “Patches” Pasternak, a WWII vet,  was found dead in a locked room in the psych ward. Carlos’ buddy, Manny, saw scorch marks in the room and that’s raising some alarm bells for Lata and Carlos. Time to check out the hospital!
Carlos heads off to gather costumes and John heads to the bathroom Maggie’s room to clean up. Mary is a little too fast to slam that door on him. She then runs off but still hears Lata explain to John whose room it was and that no one has been in it since she died.
Paging Dr. Sexy Quincy M.D.
Tumblr media
Team Monster Club infiltrates the morgue to get a look at Patches. We learn that Carlos is as bad at Rock-Paper-Scissors as Dean is. (Parallels? What parallels??) They quickly assess the wounds and realize that they come from a blade. John finds Patches’ cross necklace (identical to Murph’s cross) and he flashes back to his friend’s last moment again.
And in a bizarre (and inappropriate?) turn of events, Mrs. Pasternak shows up at the morgue(!) to collect her husband’s effects. John is still clutching the cross necklace, but when she asks about it he hands it to her and thanks her for her husband’s service. And then bolts. Mrs. Pasternak tells Mary about her husband’s anger issues and how he fought with a doctor the day he died.
John ends up in the bathroom having an epic panic attack. I think for all our sanities’ sake we have to separate this John from who we knew in Supernatural. (Boris Rants: I know the press talk has been throwing around Walter White, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul references but we were never supposed to find sympathy with Walter White, and we always were supposed to find sympathy with Jimmy McGill. John doesn’t really fit either mold. I have great sympathy for this young man who is suffering from the trauma of war and losing friends. He is not yet who he becomes later. It’s heartbreaking to see how he doesn’t know how to cope with everything – and knowing 12 years later he suffers the loss of Mary completely breaks him. There is no excuse for how he treated Dean, how he treated both his sons, but as we watch this show unfold, I can’t help but ache for the potential lost. And let’s add the layers that Dean is telling this story and something happens because John DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT THE MONSTER WORLD in Supernatural.)
John’s having a meltdown at the sink when he sees an armored dude with a spear behind him. He spins around and nothing is there!
Tumblr media
He violently pounds on the metal waste bin and that calms him down! Nothing like a little unhinged aggression to settle the mood!
When Mary asks if he’s ok, he’s already pushed the emotions ALL THE WAY DOWN. So, yeah, he’s peachy. Mary then surprises him with the brilliant and not at all problematic plan for Carlos and him to go undercover to the group meetings.
*Men in Uniform Alert*
John gets all gussied up to head to the memorial for Patches and then to therapy. Carlos pulls up in his van. The music starts, the camera slows, and we get a full body pan up of him in his sailor uniform. John also appears to notice the spectacle. And the internet caught on fire? I’m not sure what the fuck is happening. Millie and John banter back and forth about how it’s all “Dad’s fault”. Remember how Dean is telling the story? The boys get signed up for the inpatient treatment.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Lata and Mary start to process Maggie’s room and Maggie’s death. They’re also meeting a reporter that talked with Patches’ widow. He also happens to be the dude Mary saw Omega Man with the other week. She asks about why he talked with Mrs. Pasternak. He didn’t like the suicide label and thought there was more to the story. He also lets her know that this isn’t the first veteran death –they’ve been happening in psych units all over the country.
At the therapy meeting, John meets Jimmy Mixon, and we hear Carlos’s story. He was arrested and had a choice: the slammer or service. He chose the service and got a ticket to Vietnam as a bonus. Carlos opens up easily, but leaves right after (to check out medical records) leaving John to talk about his time in Vietnam, and his survivor’s guilt.
Meanwhile, Carlos digs through Doctor Z’s files and finds mentions of a horned, masked figure.
John starts to break apart in the therapy session, hands shaking. Jimmy explodes and storms away. John follows him, only to have Jimmy disappear on him. He trails him to a closed room, through which Jimmy demands that someone mysterious identify themselves and then - BLOOD CANNON. John breaks into the room too late, and discovers Jimmy’s body. Scenes of John’s trauma splice together in his head.
Over the phone, John and Carlos talk over the case details with Lata and Mary. The doctor may be absolved of directly murdering people, but he still knew about the masked visage.
Tumblr media
At the clubhouse, Lata and Mary need to research the monster. Lata inventoried the bunker’s library already, and has judged it somewhat useless for researching pre-christian mythic figures. Lata has another idea.
Tumblr media
At the hospital, John COMPLETELY loses his cool, storming into the doctor’s office and demanding that he tell him about the masked figure. Doctor Z tries to reassure John that there is no man in a horned mask. Carlos talks John down - just barely. John storms off, and Carlos drops a line about appreciating the therapy session before heading after John.
John “Internalized Trauma” Winchester disses the therapy session, but Carlos leaves himself open and confesses that the therapy session was helpful for him. They decide to split up to try to find more information.
Back at Mary’s house, Lata and Mary head into Maggie’s room to investigate her stash of ancient mythology - and to grieve. Mary finds a shoebox under the bed stuffed full of postcards written in Maggie’s hand.
Tumblr media
The cards are full of hunting debriefs - two bad things and one good thing from each hunt helped Maggie to stay positive. Lata finds a book under the bed and thumbs through it quickly to find an illustration of a man with a horned mask. A Celtiberian deity, the masked entity Neto carries around a spear and a whole host of godly powers. This is the Scooby Gang’s first takedown of a god.
At the hospital, Carlos paces down the hallway when the hospital suddenly gets a lot more dramatic. Lights flash and the ghost of chopper and radio chatter fill in the silence. Carlos peers into a nearby hospital room window, and sees the red glow of cigarette butts winking back at him. In the next moment, he gets sucked into the room.
John looks for Carlos, and winds up the psychiatric unit door that sucked Carlos inside. He opens the door and suddenly finds himself in a thick, green jungle.
Tumblr media
Lata, Mary, and Millie speed towards the hospital.
For Beautiful Trees Science:
Tumblr media
They establish the lore on the god Neto, including his attachment to a vase - an item linked to his immortality. Lata speculates that smashing the vase will allow John and Carlos to kill Neto. Millie worries about John. “John’s been a fighter since he was four years old,” she begins, and I gnash my teeth extremely dramatically. John will ALSO run straight for an enemy.
In the jungle, John calls for Carlos and then suddenly, shockingly finds him. Carlos has been trapped in the hallucinatory jungle as well, and can’t find his way out. He speculates that they have to face the monster in the jungle to escape. John takes this literally - they need to hunt the monster he saw. John storms off and Carlos tries to stop him only –
Tumblr media
Carlos steps on a land mine. In an echo of John’s traumatic memory, Carlos says, “John?” The masked god arrives, and pulls off his mask to reveal…Jimmy! He faked his own death and stoked a fire under John’s trauma to prepare him for the Akrida. (I did not see THAT coming.) Neto thinks that John could be turned into a powerful weapon against the invaders. Neto offers John a deal: he’ll spare Carlos if John will spar with him to first blood. Carlos can spot a terrible deal from a mile away, but John agrees.
At the hospital, Millie confronts Doctor Z, pulling the worried parent card.
Tumblr media
Millie then trots out the “I’ll tell the press about your hospital’s drama” card, and that works. While John fights Neto, Millie, Mary, and Lata zero in on Jimmy’s room to try to find the vase. Mary notices that the dresser has been moved. Above the dresser, there’s a misplaced ceiling tile.
Meanwhile, Neto demands that John set free his anger, citing centuries of violence and rage in his family history. Things are looking poor for John until Neto lowers his spear to John’s arm and…heals him? John’s PHYSICAL war scars heal, as do the cuts he got in the fight.
Mary finds Neto’s vase and hands it off to Lata, who nerds out on it for an inappropriately long period of time (for Millie, at least). Millie knocks the vase out of her hands, smashing it.
Neto tries to get John to claim his helmet, but John keeps fighting as Neto falters when the vase breaks. He gains the upper hand, takes control of the spear, and jams it right through Neto. With a terribly satisfied smile on his face, John begins beating Neto into a pulp. “You’re ready for the war against the Akrida,” Neto decrees moments before dying. John, covered in blood, faces Carlos (who’s now free from the mine).
Tumblr media
The jungle fades around them until the only trace of the battle is the blood covering John from head to toe. Later, John and Carlos leave the hospital together but…separate.
They debrief with the ladies. Carlos reports the mysterious tidbit that Neto “saw something in John” but gets sidetracked from more by Doctor Z. The doctor promises to do better to help veterans, and Mary connects him to her local boytoy reporter. He tells Carlos that he sees a lot of potential for growth and healing, and that resonates with Carlos. Mary invites Carlos to stay with her, in Maggie’s room. Mary’s ready to confront her grief. Lata and Mary try to warn Carlos about the Donny Osmond posters, but Carlos is ready for the cheese. “Sounds quite soothing.”
Mary offers to drive John and Millie home. Before they leave, Carlos thanks John for the fight and offers to be a sounding board in the future. John slams an extra iron bar over his feelings in response. HE’S FINE.
We fall into a montage of our characters dealing with their trauma. Mary, packing away Maggie’s belongings. Carlos at therapy, with an empty chair for John sitting symbolically nearby.
Tumblr media
Lata writes postcards with Mary. Millie and John— Wait. It’s just Millie hauling out takeout alone. She finds John suffering through a panic attack while crouched in the shower. She looks upon him lovingly, and embraces him as he cries.

I kept forgetting to make a post about it, but I finished the novel Taltos - and therefore The Lives of the Mayfair Witches series - last week.
I’ve been meaning to post it, so, full comment under the cut for spoilers for this book and for the whole series.
In some ways, Taltos was easier to read than the others, and in other ways it was harder. The themes are not so dense on this one. It’s less dark and disturbing, although these elements are still very much present in the narrative.
You know, the first time I read Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis it seemed to me that Anne was shoving two very different stories together in the same book (and later on she confirmed that she did, in fact, very much did this); Taltos sort of feelis like that, too.
And to be fair, yeah, Lasher was a taltos and therefore the Taltos lore is present through this book series since the beginning but. While I do think the lore about this species is interesting, I still think they’re an odd fit with the witches, and this doesn’t always work together.
Mona and her pregnancy... damn, all her family ok with this thirteen year old getting pregnant from her 50-year old cousin’s husbands and ‘blaming’ her for it made me so, so mad but I was not surprised since it’s the Mayfairs were speaking about so, very typical for them.
I was a bit disappointed that the whole Talamasca thing ended up being like three rogue dudes. But I have to say that Marklin and Tommy’s executions were terrifying. They commited crimes and yes, they should have payed for these crimes, but what the Talamasca members decided to do with them... the humans in this series really can be so much worse than any of the supernatural creatures.
Ash’s story was interesting, the whole Taltos canon too, but at this time I was already a bit weary of it all lmao so maybe I didn’t appreciate it as much as a I could have.
I have said before that is hard to root for Michael these days and I still stand by it but I think it’s interesting how packed with sadness both his and Rowan’s narration are. I couldn’t find the quotation I was looking for from Michael, but Rowan is all but suicidal at the end of the book:
Tumblr media
I liked that this book deals with the things that bothered me in the Lasher novel - that it didn’t feel fair that their whole species was wiped out and considered unworthy of existence. And of course after seeing Ash with her own eyes and therefore realizing that she killed her own daughter, her innocent daughter who came back to save her only to be shot to death, of course it would shatter Rowan. The book actually doesn’t really gives closure to her grief and depression, and I don’t remember enough of her arc in Blood Canticle to judge if this gets dealt it at some time.
I do like how, as soon as Mona realized she was pregnant with a Taltos, she started to see Rowan and Michael as enemies because she would not allow her daughter to be killed, the way Rowan killed her own child.
Morrigan is interesting too, and her escaping with Ash feels inevitable as an ending. It feels hopeful, despite everything else.
I missed the witches lore in this book. Hardly anything about the ancestors, hardly anything even about the current ones except for Mona/Mary Jane/Rowan, and it was sorely missed.
Overall I’m glad to have read these books. I’m even glad it took this long since these are such heavy books, so it’s better I didn’t read them as a teen. The first book remains the best of all the bunch, but the whole series is better than what people have told me over the years lol

tag game!
Rules: list eight shows for your followers to get to know you better.
I was tagged by @st-eve-barnes thank u lovely!!! these are not in any particular order, just what came to mind!
gilmore girls: i watched this for the first time during my last year of high school and it's become one of my comfort shows. definitely my go to when i want to watch something but i'm not in the mood to start something new
teen wolf: shaped the better part of my teenage years, and recently (a year or so ago) rewatched it with my sibling. i miss that era of my life so much lmfao 2015/2016 and comic con interviews etc (for all the big shows at the time, honestly, it was so good)
supernatural: oh my god. watched the bugs and bloody mary episodes in like ?? 2010 when i was eight or something and it was a core memory. properly started watching it when i was 15 i think and i was literally such a die-hard fan of the show. one of my og tumblr blogs was literally just me rb-ing spn self inserts. such a fun time on the internet. bit of a cult tbh but fun times, even though i never finished it.
derry girls: another comfort show!!!! never ever fails to make me giggle and i always return to it every few months. so so so dear to my heart <3333
anne with an e: SO dear to me oh my god. the whimsy! the romanticism! one of the few shows i consistently stuck with through to the end, from release to cancellation. shaped my young adulthood, from i think 15 to 18. came at the perfect time of my life. so so dear to me.
normal people: i think about marianne and connell almost always. came at the perfect time of my life, too. i watched it just before lockdown in 2020, but only the portions set in highschool, i think and then finished it a year later, after so much in my life had happened. i have complex feelings about sally rooney and the book but it never fails to make me feel something, watching paul mescal and daisy edgar jones. the high school portion is what stands out to me most i think, because it was what i remembered so much when lockdown and all that came with it happened.
marianne: i watched this with one of my best friends, and i really really liked the cinematography, and the storytelling. loved the production, and the subtext, all the messy feelings between the protagonists and the themes of friendship and family and love. really creepy and scary, but also felt so human.
the sex lives of college girls: so funny! did not like the ending to the last season, but i liked the characters a lot prior to that. also love ensemble cast shows <3 loved the development of their friendships and their character arcs (leighton!!!!!) watched this during the summer hols this year and stayed up all night watching it hehe
no pressure tagging some of my lovely moots: @theold-ultraviolence @flowerpotmage @oldtowrs
