Sunset Can be Exceptionally Beautiful Over a Salt Marsh
Sunset Can be Exceptionally Beautiful Over a Salt Marsh shows readers a panoramic landscape view of a sunset over a Florida salt marsh. It tells the story of how the author/artist found the spot to take this shot.
Sunset Over the Marsh
Last night I was headed home after a very nice day of visiting with my Mom and my youngest nephew. I was noticing that the evening sky was starting to look pretty colorful and I really wanted to go somewhere to watch it. Living in a wooded part of Florida can have its drawbacks when it comes to watching sunsets since to get the best view requires finding an open area. I was…

Junie
Junie stood out as far as she could without losing her balance or taking in a big mouthful of murky lake water. Her arms floated up by her sides, her toes dug into the sandy bottom. She thought about what it would feel like to let go, to float up and relax. Maybe she could roll over and dog paddle her way back to shore. Junie wasn't too good at relaxing. There were too many things to keep track of, too many chances for trouble to sneak up. She'd settle for this feeling of weightlessness in her body, while her eyes watched the shoreline.
If she squinted, she could see her Paw Paw just off the beach. He had a cooler full of ice cold Coke-Cola scootched into the sand next to the lawn chair he'd set up under the shade of the pine trees. This is where he'd spend most of his summer, ferrying the pack of grandkids and the endless variations of cousins and friends to and from the lake. Paw Paw did not care to swim, himself. As he told Junie, "That lake's full of g-d catfish shit."
Instead, he'd pull a Louis L'amour paperback from his shirt pocket and settle himself in to the lawn chair to wait for the sun to set. Then he'd fold his chair back up, and holler to the wolf pack of children that it was time to get going. He'd set two or three of them to carting the cooler back to the truck, another to carry his chair and everyone loaded into the back. Junie was the oldest kid still around, so she had the privilege of sitting in the cab with Paw Paw, along with Earnie who was the smallest. Charley Pride sang his brand of saccharine sweet country love songs through the trucks 8 track player as the sun set over the ride back to the farm.
