I think one of the things that a lot of humans fail into internalize about the Predator/Prey dynamic, especially in nature, is that millions of years of being shaped into Prey can often make incredibly territorial and fierce animals that will do anything they can to fight against millions of years of fighting being killed.
That's why horses kick and buck. Why rabbits are so infamously cantankerous and moody. Why deer have giant multi-pronged bone growths coming out of their foreheads that they can use for self-defense. Why rhinos are so dangerously territorial.
Meanwhile- a lot of Predators out in nature when they are not actually hunting (or play hunting) are remarkably chill. Especially macropredators. Think about how cats are known for the fact that they just lay around in the sun all day. Dogs are goofy guys who just want a friend.
The Predator/Prey dynamic isn't about the strong ferocious Predator taking advantage of weak and innocent Prey. When you're Prey, you're something that has spent millions of years being shaped into learning how to fight back. You're something that nature itself has pulled apart and put back together with all the sharp bits pointing out, just so you can survive.
You two have to be equal, otherwise there'd be nothing left to hunt.

The Justice League jumped up into battle positions as a teen boy burst the doors of the meeting room out of the frame.
The kid frantically started speaking, "Okay, I can explain everything, but first I need someone to adopt me so the multiple evil billionaires and supervillians can't-"
Batman pulled out the bat-adoption papers, "Just sign here"
The kid just kind of stared at him wide eyed, "Do...do you just carry those around with you..?" There was a beat of silence before the kid just decided to roll with it, "You know what? I'm desperate. I'll take it!" The pen and papers were snatched out of his hands and he signed immediately.
"Oh, by the way. You're about to be attacked."
Then the kid just seemed to blip out of existence before an explosion rocked the watchtower. Bruce was happy to have another new son, but he was also happy to have answers. And he would have them soon enough.
The signature of Daniel James Fenton assured that.
Later, Danny screams into his pillow at Bruce Waynes mansion because appearently he ended up adopted by a billionaire anyway.

Just imagine lying down in a soft pile of cushions inside your room, with your head and back resting against Mimi while its tail gently curls around your torso.
Even before you started dating the general, Mimi had already grown used of you. Constantly headbutting your leg (and almost making you fall in the process) so you gave it attention, sitting beside your chair while you were working, etc. The feline was so fond of you that it made some people think you were its actual owner.
I mean, how could you not be when the moment you opened the door (even just to give the general some quick words and leave), it would get up from whatever it was doing just to receive some pats.
At first, the general was surprised and amused by his lion's behavior (and a little jealous too, that's HIS cat.), but as you two grew closer to each other, he could understand why Mimi would try so hard to get your attention.
That's because he started to want it as well.
It felt... addictive, the feeling of having any part of your body make contact with him. The feeling of your skin against his brought a strange, comforting feeling to his brain, and he couldn't get enough of you. What started with a quick handshake from time to time evolved into him putting one arm around your shoulders whenever you two stood side by side, and before you knew it, not only did you have one cat following you around, constantly seeking your affection, but now you had two.
"Hmm~?" Your train of thought was interrupted by the soft hum of the general as he entered the room. "Aww... you two are having a nap together and didn't invite me?" The teasing tone in his voice made you let out a soft chuckle. "Betrayed by my own lover and cat!" He was always so dramatic.
"Well, if you don't mind," he said while already lying down in front of you, his arms wrapping around your torso and resting his head on your chest. "Missed you." Again, it has only been about 3 hours since you two last saw each other.
But you didn't really care because the feeling of your lover's soft hair against your hands slowly made drowsiness set in. It didn't take long until you were already on the verge of sleeping.
"Sleep well, dear. I love you."

i literally would do anything to be able to cuddle with mimi, maybe jing yuan aswell. mimi would be so soft aswell! you'd never need a pillow ever again as mimi would just curl up near your head and you could rest your head on mimi - jing yuan would always then lress himself into your side and would sometimes push mimi's tail from your torso do he could wrap his arms around you instead.
uee this is absolutely adorable! it'd be so cozy and you wouldn't be able to leave as you'd be trapped between mimi and jing yuan but you couldn't care less, eventually drifting back to sleep in the most comfortable and saffe place imaginable!

I think the most annoying part about all of this watcher shit is that if they had just originally said they'd be releasing content earlier and ad-free on their own website, none of this would've happened. Like sure maybe people would be a little bit upset/disappointed they couldn't afford to see things earlier, but at the very least they wouldn't have completely obliterated their reputation and ostracized their fan base. They just went about this in such a shitty and demeaning way and I'm glad they apologized and backpedaled, but I sincerely don't know how they come back from this, especially after it took them three days to respond. I don't know how their audience will ever be able to trust them again

So everyone knows about Bruce Wayne's spontaneous adoption tendencies, right? So when the media catches sight of a white haired kid hanging out with the Wayne's at a restaurant (Bat Burger perhaps?) everyone assumes that this must be the latest Wayne adoptee. Sure, no one could get a clear picture of him, and some reporters claimed he was a bit glowy, but Bruce Wayne's children have always been a bit strange.
However, things get interesting when a white haired meta is spotted out and about at night, even more so when Batman of all people takes the meta under his wing.
Basically, this random child is spotted with the two biggest chronic adopters in Gotham and everyone automatically assumes that a custody battle is going on.
In this Danny is either stuck in Phantom form or his white hair starts to show up in his human form (side effects of vivisection?) or honestly any reason it just has to be obvious that its the same kid.
Danny's in Gotham for reasons (dimension travel, reveal gone wrong, whatever) and he's been living on the streets and laying low (with some light vigilantes to satiate his obsession) until he saves the Wayne kids from something and they offer to buy him food for helping them (but really its bc they see a kid fighting crime and clearly isn't getting enough food and are like we need to keep him)
I think it'd be funny if Danny ran away from them when he found out that they were Wayne kids (Billionaires with adoptive instincts? MAJOR RED FLAG) and then somehow ends up working with Batman. Meanwhile, the media is badgering Bruce about how he feels about Batman stealing away a potential son.

Taller than him? Still perfect! Hope you like having to carry the Xianzhou general around while he just attaches himself to you. Arms and legs wrapped around your torso while he rests his head on your shoulder.
It was charming the way he acted when you even came into his peripheral vision. He could be having a normal chat with someone, but the moment he sensed your presence, it would immediately be "oh, seems like something very important just came up" while the biggest cat grin would appear on his face as he walked up to you.
"Loooove~" You didn't even have the time to react before feeling his weight drop on your back. "Missed you." It had been a total of 30 minutes since the last time he had seen you.
You can't even bring yourself to tell him to let you work or for him to get off of you. How could you? Look at that goddam adorable (—ω—) smile he has on his face; it felt almost illegal to even give him a side-eye.
You two always made everyone so confused. Jing Yuan is known for his incredible strength and intelligence, and here he is acting like a neglected cat around you (something he would say after you didn't pet him for 0.1 nanoseconds).
And God forbid you actually push him away, saying "not now" or something like that. He's gonna obviously oblige to your request, but you can bet all your credits that he WILL look like a kicked puppy after it. (How dare you) So much so that Fu Xuan had to come find you and ask for you to "fix" him.
And she will make you fix him so he can go back to work properly.
"You're so..." You tried to speak, but something inside your head wouldn't allow you to be mean towards Jing Yuan when he stared at you with such lovesick eyes. Only a grunt escaped your lips as you opened your arms to invite him for a hug. In which he took it gladly.
You could feel the smug grin on his face; his plan worked perfectly to get you to give him attention again. "Love you too," he purred.
(Ps: Mimi wants to join your cuddling sessions too)

my personal pipe dream is that one monday the egg statistics drop and flippa (and maybe tilin) are just there. at the end. with one heart, and one gray checkmark.
what i imagine is the server flips their shit. alive!!! alive!!! but they log in and they don't see the eggs. instead they get a message. i do not care who it's from or how it's delivered. they're told the eggs are being held captive somewhere, but they're alive. all that's left is to find them, before sunday at midnight pst. bc if their tasks aren't done, they die (one checkmark, one quest set. once rescued they become triple check like the other eggs)
slimeriana come CRASHING back into the server, they don't know jack shit, ESPECIALLY mariana who doesn't recognize 90% of the island anymore but holy fuck, flippa is alive somewhere and they have to find her. and maybe mariana's still in the old server days mindset of raising his kid alone but slime's slowly been indoctrinated into "it takes a village" and honestly the absolute second mariana logs on, someone's gonna be in chat already like HEY MARIANA CAN I TALK TO YOU? be it baghera or cellbit or forever or bad or I DON'T KNOW, COULD GENUINELY BE ANYONE LMAO but like mystery and eggs in danger is chumming the water for this server
which is great bc A) mariana has a concrete goal for logging into the server (finding his daughter) and B) he would be interacting with the rest of the server along the way, because he's not going to be doing this alone (he wouldn't even be allowed lmfao the rest of the server would be at his doorstep asking to help him in like 15 seconds flat) which means C) he might get reasons to log in extending outside flippa and slime. bingooooo

More proto Lyctors: I don’t think the original purpose of assembling everyone at Canaan House was discovering Lyctorhood. I think the purpose, originally, was just to figure out how necromancy works. Because John didn’t know.
Everything he did early on was trial and error, and after absorbing Alecto he became so powerful he could brute force anything. The necromantic theorems everyone in the Houses uses were developed later, John never needed any of that. He had no frame of reference for how ‘normal’ adepts users could channel the power he unlashed, because he’s way beyond normal.
Thinking of this bit. In NtN, John tried for a hot second to approach his new death powers like he was going to write a peer-review paper. They do corpse experiment. He tries to make it sound like a legit science. Of course it goes nowhere because the world is ending, but also because you can’t apply scientific principles to something that can’t be reproduced by others. Post Resurrection, though? Sure. Basically, he was putting the gang back together, out of affection but also because he really needed lab buddies to help him nail down the framework of something that for him was as intuitive as breathing.
A corollary to that, IMO, is that I don’t think John was sitting on a well of information that he refused to share. I think even by canon era he doesn’t have the sophisticated grasp of nercomancy-as-a-science that the Lyctors do, and I really don’t think he was sitting on the secret to perfect Lyctorhood the whole time. He watched everyone misunderstand the process because he didn’t reveal the full truth about what Alecto was, but I also very much doubt he knew what the “human” version of absorbing another soul would be until the others figured it out. I doubt he even knows an alternative is viable instead of just theoretically possible; I predict John will be very surprised to learn something like Paul exists.
#I think the simple fact that in Htn Mercy & Augustine call Alecto 'John's cavalier' shows they had absolutely no idea of who Alecto was#because he very much killed her and ate her soul.
