spencer reid waking up the next morning and reader's chest is cOVERED in hickies/bruises and he is freaked out and is so sorry that he hurt reader, and she has to talk him off a ledge bc she just bruises easily? thank you!
Thanks for requesting!
Spencer Reid x fem!reader ♡ 728 words
Spencer’s wanted to get you like this forever. In his apartment, in his bed, with the pale morning light washing over your features. Your face is all smoothed out, placid and pretty against his pillowcase. Your eyelids twitch as you dream. Spencer’s never put as much stock into dreams as some other psychologists, but he really wants to know what you dream about. He hopes you remember enough to tell him.
You stir a bit, rolling onto your back and letting the covers slip down from where you’ve been holding them tucked them underneath your chin. Spencer’s chest warms at the sleepy movement, but he pauses at the mark that’s revealed just above your collarbone. The bruise is stark and angry in the early sunlight, red turning to purple. Spencer’s heart contracts. Is that from him? He doesn’t remember treating you so cruelly.
He holds his breath, brushing gently over the spot with his forefinger. It has to hurt. How could he have done something like this without knowing? He remembers kissing you there, sucking a little, but nothing that would leave a mark like this.
You shift at the touch, and the sheet falls another few inches. Two more, one on your shoulder and another just below the first. Spencer sucks in a breath.
You hum and roll towards him, eyelids peeling open. “Spence?”
Spencer’s working the sheet out from under your arm, trying to get another look at the bruises. Trying to prove to himself that he did actually see them.
“Spence,” you say again, groggily. “What’re you doing?”
“Sorry I—” He lets the sheet go, trying to collect himself. “I just—I saw the hickeys, from last night, and I—”
“Oh, are they bad?” You push yourself upright, letting the sheet fall away completely.
Spencer is aghast. He’s lost for words. He needs to be thrown into federal prison.
Bruises cover your chest. Your collarbones, your breasts, the undersides of your breasts, your shoulders—all of it. Spencer doesn’t recall marking you up so thoroughly. He hardly recalls kissing you in half these places.
“Oh my god.” He looks at your eyes, repentant. “Sweetheart, I had no idea I was being this rough with you. I’m so sorry.”
“Spence,” you laugh. “It’s okay.”
“You should have said something if I was hurting you. I never want to do anything like—”
“Hey,” you cut him off, and you’re still smiling, which he thinks is really rather inappropriate. He’s desecrated you. “It didn’t hurt, okay? I was fine, and I’m still fine. I just bruise really easily.”
Spencer feels his eyebrows bunch disbelievingly. “This easily? These look like they could have been done with a pellet gun.”
You shrug, looking a bit bashful as you pull your shoulders up around you. He’s willing to bet you’re fighting the urge to cover yourself with the sheet.
He covers one of the marks on your shoulder with his thumb, watching your face carefully. “Does this hurt?” he asks, pressing on it gently.
Your eyelashes don’t so much as flicker. “No,” you say honestly.
Spencer feels like his chest might collapse in relief. “Jesus. That really scared me,” he admits.
Your lips twitch. “Yeah, I could tell. Sorry for freaking you out.”
“Sorry for defacing you,” he responds, pressing an especially gentle kiss to the side of your neck. “And for waking you up with my freak out.”
You let your smile bloom, bright and endearingly kind. “I don’t mind,” you say.
Spencer analyzes you, contemplative. “You know, that sort of bruising could be caused by an iron deficiency. Or a lack of vitamin C.”
“Mhm?” You’re completely uninterested, leaning forwards to kiss his chin. You nose at the stubble on his cheek.
“How would you feel about having some spinach in your eggs?”
You sit back. “You’re going to make me eggs?”
“Well,” Spencer smiles sheepishly, “first we have to go to the store for spinach and eggs, and then yes. If you want, I’d be happy to make you eggs.”
“Okay,” you say breezily, swinging your legs out of the bed, “but if you’re only doing it so I’ll stop bruising, you should taper your expectations.”
“There’s no way I’m letting this happen again,” he says. “I can’t mark you up every time I kiss you.”
You hum. “I never said I minded.”
“I mind.”
“Well, to each their own.”

Eddie was all about desecrating corpses.
Particularly, the huge ones--and nothing was larger than the burnt out husk of Starcourt.
Yellow caution tape, muddied and ripped from its time in the weather still decorated parts of the doors.
The place used to be crawling with security, but that had eased off now, the job returning to a local outfit rather than the smooth and swift guards who previously haunted the joint in pairs.
It was easy as two days spent camped out in his van, watching the main entrance and a few side doors. In no time at all, Eddie had schedules memorized, points of entry selected and even three possible escape routes should things get dicey.
He didn't expect them to.
Not when he’d already rolled his checks and came up with a number that, were this an actual D&D game, would make him a happy man.
It was always a point of contention between him and his Pa. This perception. The natural ability he had that good ‘ol dad just didn’t seem to possess.
The one that made him patient long enough to get a feel for a gig.
To know instinctively how hard a job might be, and how to go about doing it safely.
(Eddie personally doesn't believe much of it is talent. Thinks it is in fact, forcibly learned, due to the nature of his upbringing.
Grandma and Grandpa Munson, bless their dead, departed souls, had at least given something of a shit. Tried to keep family things family and work things work, even when said work was illegal as it gets.
They understood things like appearance and public reputation.
How that kept the pigs off your back and food on your table.)
His Pa had never cared for any of that.
Eddie didn’t grow up with family meals, or even food in the house let alone on the table. He grew up watchful, forced to learn or take a hit meant for an adult in the process. To weigh the risks against the benefits, and how to charm the pants off an unsuspecting target while doing so.
It was how he’d escaped his own prison sentence when his Pa finally got eyes too big for his abilities.
Eddi had gotten lucky in that situation.
Or rather--he’d gotten Wayne.
Wayne, who gave up his own room, his own bed, for his nephew. Had bought him his sweetheart on his sixteenth birthday and a van on his eighteenth. Both things were used, and a little battered around the edges, and Eddie had almost thrown up the day he accidentally found out Wayne had used his life savings for the damn car, but they were above and beyond anything he had any right too.
Eddie would be damned without him.
But he knows his uncle needs help.
Can't pay for himself and Eddie. Never really could, and so has been giving his nephew literally everything he has in an effort to make up for it until Eddie could help pay his way.
Not that a singular soul would trust a teenage Munson with such a precious thing as a part time job, and so Eddie had turned to the familiar.
The mall fire, and the resulting flood of federal agents had really put a damper on his income the past few months. Drugs were risky, and getting riskier with them sniffing about, and things were getting tight again in a way they hadn’t in a long, long time.
(All it had taken was finding the hidden stack of bills.
Big ol’ words stamped in red topped every one. Bold letters screaming ‘Overdue’ and ‘Payment Missed’ and ‘Late Fees.’
One single letter had panicked Eddie more than any other, the one that clearly said Wayne had been talking to the payday loan place down the street, and he’d be damned if his shortcomings made his Uncle willingly walk into a debt pit so few climbed out of.)
Growing up like he had, Eddie was trusted in certain circles. Had access to places many didn't as his sole inheritance, because he was known.
Someone who didn't rat, who could be trusted with given tasks. Who kept to the criminal code, and was good about not backstabbing you if caught.
He’d hit up a few old connections, dropped some hints. Put out “feelers” as one might say.
Got a nibble and soon enough, Eddie was back in business, getting called up and offered a few small tasks for decent dough.
Sometimes it was fetching information.
Sometimes it was ferrying an item.
Today, it was a retrieval.
There was something someone wanted in the ruins of Starcourt--and they were offering an insane amount of money to get it.
The plans hadn't made sense, not at first. The instructions Eddie had been given sounded outlandish, if not outright total bunk.
Like the existence of a multi level basement under Starcourt? How the hell had no one caught that being built?
Or that the security systems down there could possibly still be turned on? After four months?
Who was even paying for it?
Eddie had heard stupider things though, and the pay for this little jaunt was good. Too good to pass up.
"They want a local in case something happens and the rescue squad comes running in. That way, it's just a little trespassing fun. The town deviant getting his kicks in the big scary mall, and not what they think it is." His connection had told him, meeting with Eddie in a Mcdonalds the town over.
The place had a play palace, big enough to host a number of screaming rugrats. It made for a great cover as they pretended to be just two men in overalls, getting burgers on their lunch.
Not a soul could hear a sound over the kids screaming, and if a blueprint sat between them then, well, if it looks like a maintenance worker, and it talks like a maintenance worker…
People never did look twice.
"And what else exactly would they think this is?" Eddie asked, munching on the food he got for free as part of even entertaining the offer.
"A retrieval, Double D."
Eddie hated that nickname.
"Some rich kid bit it in the fire, and his parents are paying out top dollar to get a few of his things, seein’ as the feds wouldn’t let anybody back in after they condemned the place." The guy, whose name was Mickey said.
He idly traced a finger along the lines of the blueprint, the path he was wanting Eddie to take.
(The path Eddie would later ignore, on grounds that it was going to get him caught.)
“Specifically a signet ring and car keys.”
“Car keys?” Eddie had asked, mostly in a bid for more information. Mickey was the kind of guy you could breadcrumb into giving more information than he intended to, if one played their cards right.
And Eddie was a damn good poker player.
“Yup. Goes to a BMW--which they want you to drive to a safe place. Parents think he lost it somewhere around,” Mickey’s finger stopped, before tapping the blueprint twice. “Here.”
Something had niggled in the back of Eddie’s head. The first whispers of recognition, of a fact that he knew something about this--something he couldn’t yet recall.
He wasn’t stupid enough to ignore it.
“Who's the kid?” He’d asked.
Mostly because he was curious, partially because it was a way to ease in the real questions he wanted to ask.
Like what a rich kid was doing four levels down in Starcourt the night of the fire.
“Does it matter?” Mickey said, but dug into his pockets anyway. Retrieved a little 2 by 3 wallet photo, done in the traditional High School Picture Day style.
He’d tossed it on the table, and Eddie didn’t react.
Kept his face perfectly blank, even as his stomach contracted and his breath caught in his chest.
Carefully pulled the picture to him, to make a show of examining it.
“Don’t know him.” He lied after a moment, fighting to get his breathing back under control before Mickey figured out what was up.
“Told you it didn’t matter. What matters is that you get the shit. And hey, while you’re down there…”
Mickey talked a bit more, and idly, Eddie listened. He knew this little B&E was going to have more components than just retrieving a few things. Had long figured out that this entire front of retrieving “some rich kids keys” was just that--a front.
Word on the street was that Starcourt was hiding something--something a lot of very powerful people were getting increasingly interested in. He’d rolled his eyes when he caught wind of the first little rumblings, the rumors and whispers that the thing was shrouded in Government secrets and conspiracies, but hadn’t been able to ignore the shit that had come after.
Likely, the people who had hired him and Mickey understood they had to act now, before someone else did, to see if anything worthwhile was actually down there.
The real question is why the hell they were using Steve Harrington’s death to do it--when Eddie knew for a fact that Steve Harrington was alive.
Or alive as anyone could be, at two am at a Shell gas station.
“Alright.” Eddie said finally, pulling the blueprint towards himself before rolling it up, making sure to casually roll up Harrington’s picture with it. “You got me interested. Half up front and I’m in.”
Mickey grinned at him. “Knew you would be, kid.”
One hand shake and a hefty envelope later, and Eddie found himself on the way to Starcourt on his very first stakeout.
It was that first initial look that confirmed it--Harrington’s prized BMW was in fact, still sitting in the parking lot.
Abandoned by rich assholes who absolutely could have paid to have it towed.
Which led to a domino effect of stakeouts, late nights and confrontations, up to and including his present position, counting down the minutes before he could break into Starcourt.
“Ready?” He murmured, and one could be forgiven for thinking he was talking to himself given how quietly he said it.
They would be wrong.
“Yeah.” The not-so-dead rich kid drawled from the passenger seat.
Eddie tossed a grin at Harrington, who rolled his eyes and ran a hand through his hair.
“Come on, Stevie.” He purred. “Let’s go find out who impersonated your parents, and why they want that ring you supposedly own so badly.”
“Honestly dude I just want my car back.”
“That too.”

the Sarek family is hilarious to me because you have so much drama in one place. there have got to be at least 3 like, holo-documentaries or whatever about them. how could you not?
you have Sarek, the patriarch: one of the UFP's top diplomats, who knocks up a Vulcan princess then goes “hrm I am ambassador to Earth therefore I should marry a human” and he does, upsetting all sorts of the worst kinds of people on his home planet and causing racist hate groups to try to blow him and his family up multiple times, and seems honestly more put out by his son joining Starfleet than his other son becoming Vulcan Moriarty
Amanda, the matriarch: an accomplished educator and quite possibly the only well-adjusted member of the family, but when her son Spock shows up on her doorstep after growing a beard, having a mental breakdown and apparently murdering several medical staff she still shrugs and hides him in the family mausoleum
Sybok: Amanda's stepson from the aforementioned princess fling, who becomes an antiestablishment criminal mastermind with an edgelord fake name, hooks up with a hot space pirate, finds religion, starts a cult, takes an entire colonial government hostage sparking a diplomatic incident involving three galactic superpowers, and hijacks a Starfleet ship to the galactic core to find the Vulcan Garden of Eden, where he dies fighting god in hand-to-hand combat
Michael, a traumatized human girl Sarek brings home from a work trip, who joins Starfleet, becomes their first-ever mutineer, goes to prison, saves the Federation from a war most people think is her fault and gets “killed” in a highly classified, very suspicious incident involving an experimental starship and a series of red lights that appeared across the galaxy like a divine omen (oh, and returns 900 years later to solve the dilithium crisis, kill the head of the Emerald Chain and save two entire star systems including her siblings' homeworld)
and last but not least Sarek & Amanda's one-of-a-kind hybrid baby. Spock, who gets accepted into the Vulcan Science Academy, tells them to go fuck themselves when they're racist about it, runs off to Starfleet instead, gets so famous his arranged marriage falls apart resulting in him publicly strangling his own captain to death except not really, steals the Federation flagship twice, invents time travel, saves the entire planet Earth, dies and comes back to life, goes into his dad's line of work and achieves peace with the freaking Klingons as his opening act, then after a long successful career suddenly dips to go do extremely dangerous underground activism on one of the most paranoid authoritarian worlds in the galaxy to unify the Romulans & Vulcans who've hated each other for over a thousand years — and he isn't around to see it but it eventually works. then he fucks off with the VSA's high-speed prototype ship full of the most dangerous substance known to science and gets sucked into a black hole of his own creation, never to be seen again. and this is just the stuff that's public knowledge!
then you dig into the novels where Sarek's ancestor basically makes out with Zefram Cochrane 5 seconds after meeting him and Amanda tells the press her husband has a huge cock
I love them

in my head i feel like billy could be a switch, but maybe a hc of how dom!billy and sub!billy are like🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
i should be in federal prison for the amount of edits i have of this man i need to be stopped
nsfw billy bonney hc's
i agree with him being a switch! he's got an ocean depth worth of emotions so i think his preference would honestly change on a daily basis
tw— smut, minors dni 18+
request
Tumblr media
as a dom... billy is more demanding. rarely, if ever, does he tell you what to do. but when you're sprawled out on his bed, staring up at him like he's some magnificent constellation, his head is filled with unbridled confidence. he won't feel the need to be so graceful or gentlemanly. his regular requests and plea's turn into orders. he'll tell you that he wants you on your knees, tell you to be quiet, and tell you exactly how to take him. he won't ask, but he won't force you either. he'd never do that— wouldn't even think of it.
"on your knees, darlin" "c'mere and keep quiet, don't want the boy's t'hear" "stop runnin' from it, honey. you can take it"
his main goal as a dom would simply be to make you truly yearn for him. he wants to see it in your eyes, and hear it in your voice. he'll get more and more impatient if you try to fight him or try to hide how crazed you really are for him. he needs to see that you're wild for him, just like he is for you.
"you're my girl aren't you, lemme hear you." "don't be so shy, look at me."
he'd never need to raise his voice to make you listen to him. if you're being a brat he'll just quirk up a brow and stare into your eyes, silent. that's all it would take. he'd hold such a commanding gaze that you'd quickly fix your act.
billy would be pretty hard to annoy, but if you try to be coy and ignore his obvious want for you, he'll be brooding until he can get you alone. he'd have a fair number of 'punishments' for you in his mind; maybe he'd work you up until the morning sun begins to creep into the sky, or better yet, he could bend you over his lap until there are tears in your waterline. but his favorite has to be leaving you high and dry. it's the meanest stunt he can pull without his resolve breaking. billy would be too good with his restraint too, if he says he won't touch you... he's not. at least until he thinks you've learned your lesson.
"does that feel good?" he'd ask, being surprisingly gentle with his touch for how riled up he had seemed earlier. you lay back against his bed, eyes closing in pleasure as he continues to toy with your bulb, "feels so good." with a light chuckle, he pulls his hands away from you, leaving you needy and aggravated, "m'not touching you again until you get that attitude of yours in check."
Tumblr media
as a sub... he's almost pathetically needy. he wants your love so bad that he'll beg for it. he'll give you a small smile before kissing your forehead, hands finding a home at your waist.
"god, billy, you're like a bee to honey." you'd mutter, trying to focus back on the shops' books. the latest bank statement had you looking for any way to cut costs. his head rests on your shoulder, body flush against your back, "can't help m'self, darlin'," his voice would drop, "i'll get on my knees and beg for ya."
he'd be more submissive if he's feeling sad. the days he misses those long gone, he'll curl into your embrace, needy for your warm affection. he feels like a man starved for you, and he doesn't mind giving you the reins and being under your spell.
billy tries his hardest not to be a brat, and he's pretty good at listening to directions. but ever so often, he's talking back and riling you up— just to see your jaw clench and eyes spark. and he'll take your domineering actions afterward without refuting.
the buttons on his shirt are too hard to see in the dim light of lanterns and you let out an audible huff in annoyance. in the dark you still catch billy's smug grin, "does my girl need a little help?" you roll your eyes, fighting a smile at his obvious and futile rebellion, "don't get ahead of yourself, outlaw."
he's whiny for you. he'll whine and beg, using the sweetest tone he can muster. he knows you're in control, but he also knows he has his own weapon— his voice. he knows how much you love it and how easily you cave if he uses it.
"please, jus' touch me. i need you s'bad, honey." "just like that. that's my girl, makin' me feel s'good."
loves being marked up! nothing too blatant though, he doesn't want to ride into town with hickeys on his neck. but if you leave red welts along his back or love bites on his chest, he'll spend a few minutes in front of any mirrored surface to see your handiwork. he likes having the proof, for himself, a wonderful reminder that he has you. that you're real, and that he's entirely yours. he hasn't had anyone to belong to for so long, he wouldn't trade it for the world.

bless u for the comprehensive answer to my last question, it is much appreciated! And sincere apologies for coming off as defeatist - you're absolutely right that, at the end of the day, the most important thing is working as hard as we can to make sure trump loses the general election. What this really clarifies for me is that my focus should be on the elections, and that I should file the judicial process under "interesting, could be useful, but will never be a silver bullet". Thank you again!
You're welcome, and I think it's most useful to think of it like this: we need to do our job (defeating Trump in 2024) so Jack Smith's job (indicting the fucker up the wazoo) will stick. We hear endless punditry and hand-wringing about how Trump will just cancel the charges if he wins, and that's often presented as some kind of terrible foregone conclusion that we will only avert by dumb luck, if we do at all. And yet, for some funny reason, we never hear about the flip side: i.e. if Trump loses, he's fucked. He will have no more reason to delay, no last-minute Hail Mary play, nothing to stop him from standing trial, being convicted, and going to jail, and that's exactly why he and the rest of the fascist criminals are throwing everything at the election. It is his last shot.
Honestly, I don't want people complacently thinking that the indictments will do the work for them and get rid of Trump -- because they will, but only if we do our job first and pound that motherfucker into the ground in 2024. I don't want anything to take away from the importance of doing everything we can to help Biden win in 2024 -- voting, volunteering, donating, talking to friends and family, you name it. We NEED to do that work so that Trump is out of miraculous golden parachutes and is left to face the consequences. And if he does (again, please God) lose, at least this time he is not the sitting American president and does not have the full resources of the federal government to attempt a coup. In that sense, if you want to see Trump properly, completely brought to justice, it's so easy:
Support the indictments
Vote for Biden in 2024
Do everything to make sure Trump loses
The end.
It's really that easy. Because as noted, if we do our part and Trump loses the election, he is fucked. That's really all there is to it.
We are in uncharted territory here because the founding fathers were eighteenth-century Enlightenment rationalists, and while they obviously did not trust a king and built in all kinds of checks and balances to prevent the president from BEING a king, they also imagined that whoever held the job would at least make a good-faith effort to follow the rules. Besides, the best-designed political system in the world would still be vulnerable to someone like Trump, who gleefully and sociopathically wrecks all norms and precedents however he pleases. That's why there isn't technically a law on the books preventing someone in prison from running for president, because the founding fathers were operating under the idea that people in American government would at least try, however badly, to perform the functions of American government. Trump doesn't. He doesn't give a shit about that. He's willing to take the whole country down in flames if it saves him personally from consequences, and while our institutional guardrails (barely) held last time, they've already said that a second Trump term would involve wrecking all of those, because he is a tinpot narcissistic psychopath dictator wannabe. And yes, it's terrifying, and yes, too many people didn't learn from 2016, and all the rest, but still:
If you want to see the fucker go to jail and reap the consequences of his actions, make sure he loses the 2024 election. That's what you need to focus on. Do that, and the rest of it will come after. So yeah.

Just to clarify, I am obviously talking about the characters and the QSMP as a story. I am simply an avid viewer that had too much coffee and time on their hands so I basically wrote an essay. What is it about? I have no idea. So, read it if you want, but beware that nothing at the end of this should make sense.
In my opinion, morally ambigious characters are interesting, but UNPREDICTABLE morally ambigious characters are even more fun to analyze because they take more risks and play more dangerous games. If a character was labeled as a "hero" and played on the "good" side they are guaranteed a safe spot within the group. Regardless of whether they kill or hurt others, they are on the good side because they are fighting against the corporation that is keeping them and their friends trapped in a place that is a nightmarish paradise. If they had done actions that worked against the islanders' favor, by, for example nearly getting everyone killed by explosives at a party they are justifiably labelled a villian. But what if a character played in the middle? What if they were neutral? What if they simply wanted to let things play out- sticking to the sidelines and only becoming involved when the situation benifits their entertainment?
So, pardon me for the long intro, but here's the gist folks: q!Foolish arrested q!Pac e q!Mike and unknowingly put them through loads of emotional trauma that I don't think they'll be recovering from any time soon, for fun. To a person with a normal moral compass, that's obviously fucked up.
"Friends don't send friends to prison."
In q!Foolish's perspective, he REALLY didn't think the consequences of his actions through, but he wouldn't have arrested q!Pac e q!Mike for no reason. Mr. Mustard is missing and the Federation told q!Foolish that q!Pac e q!Mike were responsible for his disappearance. At this point, I think enough time has passed that we the audience know q!Foolish is being manipulated by the Federation. Even Foolish himself knows he's being manipulated by them, yet he still partakes in this precarious game because it's simply more entertaining than just sitting on the good side and letting things play out.
Q!Foolish has never actively gone out of his way to hurt people on purpose. Does he lack some emotional maturity and the appropriate response to some situations? Yes he does; but he doesn't have malicious intentions. He's there to have fun. Where others see a dire situation- at the mercy of the inescapable claws of a malevolent corporate entity, q!Foolish sees fun and exciting opportunities. The others might not want to admit it, but aside from the tragedies and kidnappings that have occured on the island, this nightmarish paradise has provided the characters with more excitement and enjoyment, than what is worth.
But, not everyone understands q!Foolish's perspective, and that's good! That's ok! But what I'm perplexed about is their constant unjust treatment of him- the exclusion, threats, torture, many many pointless accusations disguised as interrogations, etc- simply because he did one task for the Federation. One task that affected the lives of two people, but in the end both parties communicated and forgave each other anyways. One task that required q!Foolish, and by extension, q!Jaiden to harmlessly investigate around q!Pac and q!Mike's base for a considerably long time before finding nothing that would incriminate the duo. Throughout q!Foolish's endeavour, working with the Federation cost him most of his friends' trust and gave him no benifits, but he still reluctantly chooses to carry out another task because it's entertaining. But like q!Foolish said to q!Cellbit the other day, he may be stupid, but he's certainly not an idiot, and he has limits. A lot of people, specifically q!Max don't seem to understand the concept of a neutral party. If you work for the Federation, you are a villain- and honestly, that's a fair assumption considering their reputation. But what about people like q!Jaiden? Q!Jaiden, one of the kindest people on the island, who is compassionate to everyone, even Cucurucho, who is always perceived as a malicious entity?
What exactly defines a villain in this story? In my opinion, everyone on the island has a skewed sense of morality. Everyone except Elquackity knew of his first assasination and simply watched as he lost his first life, then celebrated when he lost the other with no regards to the repurcussions of their actions or how Elq felt about all this. And while we can justify their actions because Elq hurt people before, and either brainwashed or replaced q!Quackity, how do we justify their treatment of q!Foolish even after he communicated honestly to q!Pac e q!Mike and done nothing to deserve their maltreatment of him. Maybe I'm a bit impatient, but at this point, q!Foolish's arrest, has had the same value and impact as q!Bad giving people the survey for the Federation; I'm even more willing to believe that q!Cellbit's accidental "employee of the month" investigations benifitted the Federation more than whatever measly and repititive tasks they're giving out to q!Foolish.
So, what warrants all this hate and injustice towards q!Foolish then if he's not harming anyone? Why is he the punching bag? Why is he the butt if the joke Every Single Time? What warranted all the cruel jokes and malicious beatings after the Nether event? Is it because they know he won't exact revenge upon them? Is it because, in their eyes, they only value him as a court jester and nothing more? Q!Foolish even said the Nether, an obsolete dimension of fire and brimstone, offered more compassion and comfort than a world where the sun shone and the air was less polluted because the inhabitants, his "friends" treated him with more malevolence than literal souless monsters from hell itself.
Think about q!Jaiden- a person whose compassion broke through Cucurucho's souless programming and gave it a home, a sense of safety, and relaxation. Jaiden works (and apparently worked???) with the Federation, yet she has more kindness within her than an entire group of people, on the "good" side, fighting against evil.
The truth is, there is no bad side among the islanders. The admins (meta) wrote the Federation (and codes?) as entities that the collective group should be against- a common enemy. But once you "ally" yourself with the Federation and do tasks for them does that make you the common enemy as well, or do you need to commit more heinious acts to be considered a villain?
And what about the islanders? At what point do the rest of the players begin to consider a character on the wrong side of things? At what point do they begin to abandon compassion in favor of searching for the truth? How far will they go in pursuit of the truth?
In my opinion, there are no villains in the story because everyone is capable of becoming an antagonist in one way or another. Basically, EVERYONE is morally ambiqious because they have all been antagonists to each other at some point in the tale, and as the story keeps unfolding, who knows what could happen? A character might say they are a good person, but as the story changes, so do their values, their morals, their limits. How thin can someone's patience be before it inevitably snaps?

Smoke on the Water
“You realise this isn’t an offer everyone gets.” Agent Browning stares Neil down, not even phrasing it like a question. Neil badly wants to scoff, but manages not to. “Doesn’t really seem like an offer at all,” he deadpans. “On the contrary, Nathaniel, it’s very generous.” Neil feels his eye twitch at the casual use of his real name; the suits have been relentless about using it ever since Neil turned himself in following his mother’s death. His reckless, foolish hope had been that he could leverage everything he knew for a new identity and the chance at a real life. And a new identity he now has, but it hasn’t come without caveats. He shakes his head. “I’m not one of your agents. I’m not trained for this shit. They’ll suss me out immediately.” It’s Browning’s turn to shake his head. “You managed to elude capture by both your father’s people and federal agents for ten years.” “I was with my mother,” Neil points out, but then he has to pause to collect himself. If he thinks about her for too long, he’ll break. He feels like he can still smell the burning in the air; he can hear the sound of her blood-soaked clothes ripping from the car seat as he tried to move her. He can still see the light leaving her eyes. He clears his throat. “I wasn’t alone. I wasn’t the mastermind.” “That’s fair,” Browning allows, “but an accomplished liar, you most certainly are. I have no doubt your mother taught you everything she knew.” “She never would have wanted me to turn myself in, so I guess I never learned a goddamn thing.” “Or maybe you’re smarter than you give yourself credit for.” A pained look crosses Browning’s face at having to admit this and Neil almost smiles. “Aw, I didn’t know you thought so highly of me, Browning.” “That’s Agent Browning to you,” Browning snaps, but then visibly collects himself. “So, Nathaniel—” “It’s Neil, now,” Neil interrupts. Browning sighs. “Neil. Do we have a deal?” Neil leans his forearms on the table. He’s exhausted after the last few days of interrogation and all he wants to do is sleep. A stack of paper sits near his elbow, within which Neil has written down everything he can remember from ten years on the run, as well as everything he knows about his father’s criminal dealings. No doubt he’s also been recorded as well, so his testimony is available in several formats. He should have known it wouldn’t be enough. “Do I really have a choice?” “Sure you do.” Browning smiles thinly. “It’s this, or it’s fifteen to twenty years in federal prison.” His father’s people are in prisons up and down the country. Wherever they put Neil will be within reach of the Butcher’s men. So really, it’s this, or death. Neil’s not ready to die yet. “You’ve got yourself a deal, asshole.”

Art Begets Art and the Law Should Respect This
I believe in the tradition of folk art, which is to say: Borrow liberally and lovingly.
It's a practice we've been mostly sterilized from embracing in our modern corporatist society, where all of the big-name, commonly-recognizable "IPs" are imprisoned behind layer after layer of obnoxious lawyers with nothing better to do than torment the innocent. It's a terrible thing, a deprivation of our cultural oxygen—a crime against art and ethics.
As an artist myself, I often have to thread the needle of building upon the inspiring works of others while still remaining within the letter of our outrageous IP laws. It's something I think about a lot.
In Galaxy Federal, for instance, I mentioned last time that the name "Galaxy Federal" was inspired, among other things, by the mention of the "Galaxy Federal Police" title screen of the original Metroid game. When I was settling on this title for my series, I also found that Galaxy Federal is the trademarked name of a bank. I spent considerable time and mental resources, years ago, to determine to my satisfaction that it is permissible under the law for me to use this title.
I have to do way too much of this bullshit, and I know it'll still be for naught: If I ever do become an even remotely successful author, I'm sure I'll be sued anyway, probably for something I never even realized was an "infringement" despite all my vigilance. Because, at the end of the day, for big corporations and for IP trolls, our IP laws are just a racketeering scheme—a side hustle. I mean, Best Western trademarked the word "seniority." If someone wants to sue you, they're gonna find a way.
I am not really a "from scratch" writer. I don't sit down at a blank page and just come up with prose from first principles. My art is almost always inspired by things that I experience in my life, or by the ideas that result from those experiences. Sometimes—frequently, even—my inspirations come from things that are copyrighted or trademarked. I have written in the past about the influence of the video game The Secret of Mana on me as a kid. Among many other inspirations, that game has a neat sandship in it, and that's why the desert easts of Relance are prevalent with sandships.
Over the years I've become a pro at reinterpreting IP-blocked inspirations into usable, original ones—both in terms of the legal research I've done and the skills I've developed at transforming an IP-blocked inspiration into something usable. I've also become more knowledgeable about what I can get away with quoting directly: Certain things cannot be copyrighted, and trademarks have a finite zone of applicability.
It's all a very needless and skill-intensive ballet to achieve something that should be directly accessible. Obviously, there do need to be limits. As an artist myself, I am keenly aware that I wouldn't want to have no special claim to my own work. But if I were to rewrite our outrageous IP laws—and over the years I have amassed considerable material for a book on this—I would make it vastly easier for artists and the public in general to "borrow liberally and lovingly" from the sources that inspire them. Our current IP laws are like a crime-ridden police state: The security is in all the wrong places and just doesn't work. We could relax the laws considerably without hurting artists, and potentially even tighten them in other respects to better combat trolls and thieves.
But in the meantime, here's my advice: Don't let it daunt you. Dance the friggin' ballet. Get good at transformation. Liberate intellectual property from its prison in spirit if not in substance. And, when you're fearless and/or sufficiently obscure, just straight-up pirate. I think society has a duty to reject unjust laws through word and deed.
I don't usually don my pirate's hat, but I do sometimes. When I published the Prelude in 2015, for a limited time I also published a free companion soundtrack consisting entirely of, gasp, copyrighted music. Nowhere is the horror of our modern IP laws more evident than in the realm of music. What I did was basically create a curated playlist, to help set the mood of the story. I don't know if anyone even availed themselves of that soundtrack, yet for me to license all of those pieces to make my limited-time links lawful would have cost me thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars! All for something that it's possible nobody other than me even listened to. That's a crime against art. And it's a crime against artists. Our draconian IP laws hurt small artists the most. If I had had thousands of fans, I'd have been able to pay to play—and I would have done so, or perhaps I would have spent the equivalent money to hire composers to write an original soundtrack. But, as a nobody-artist and a poor person, whose own Curious Score musical compositions are long in the making, the lawful avenues are all unassailably closed off to me. This too is an injustice, of another sort.
Doing the companion soundtrack was the right thing to do in the tradition of folk art. None of those other artists (or, let's be real, the corporate goliaths that hoard most of this "content" in their treasure-vaults) was deprived of a single penny; in fact that's one of the great lies of the IP lawyers and their corporate masters: Cultural interchange usually improves income for people whose work is quoted by others. Borrow liberally and lovingly—and give credit where credit is due.
That's the way it should be.
And, one day, that's how it will be again.

Wanna Try Star Trek?
Hi tumblr! I love Star Trek, as do many of you, but it can seem intimidating to folks who are interested but don’t really how to approach such a large franchise. The thing is, Trek’s “golden age” lived in that delicious sweet spot where tv shows outside of soap operas were only just starting to learn about serialisation. These shows were built for drop in, drop out viewing. So I’m gonna write some beginner friendly summary/reviews of various episodes and you can see if it strikes your fancy. If you decide to watch an episode I talk about, please, feel free to talk to me about it!
Also, I made a big spinner wheel of all the TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT episodes and I needed something to do with it.
Today’s random pick is Deep Space Nine’s “Indiscretion”, episode 5 of season 4.
So real quick, Deep Space Nine aired between 1993-1999 and was set aboard the titular space station. It’s still the only Star Trek show not to be based on a ship. The long and short of the premise is that, after a long and gruelling occupation by the Cardassian Union, the planet of Bajor wins its freedom. Having no means of defending themselves from something like this happening again, Bajor reaches out to the Federation (the post-scarcity multi species utopia that humanity is part of) for protection. They send a Starfleet detachment to administer the space station the Cardassians left behind, commanded by one Benjamin Sisko, who has to manage the delicate political situation. This show is by far the most serialised of this era, but nowhere near the extent of modern shows.
First Officer’s Note: Starfleet is an all-in-one exploratory, scientific, defense and diplomatic service, and most of the shows and movies revolve around the various adventures of Starfleet crews.
Our episode today opens with DS9’s First Officer, Major Kira Nerys, receiving a call from an old friend named Razka Karn. He tells her that he’s found a lead on a ship she’s been searching for called the Ravinok. He won’t share the information over a video call, so she’ll have to come to him.
Ship Counsellor’s Note: Kira is a Bajoran, and was previously a member of the Bajoran resistance against the Occupation. Bringing in “one of Kira’s old resistance buddies” is one of the writer’s favourite ways to start up a plot for her.
The station’s security officer Odo shows up for a scene where he’s giving Kira a security report, but her mind’s clearly elsewhere. Odo asks her what’s wrong, and Kira asks whether he thinks she should go after the Ravinok. He tells her it doesn’t matter, as he knows she’s going to go anyway, so all he’ll say is “good luck”.
Usually, there’s some hand wringing over whether or not Sisko will send one of his officers on these personal missions, but here we skip right to Kira packing for her trip, only for Sisko to give her the unpleasant news that the Cardassian government wants in on the search too. See, the Ravinok was a Cardassian ship transporting Bajoran prisoners when it was mysteriously lost.
Kira’s come a long way in her feelings towards Cardassians since the start of the show, so she does (huffily) agree to delay her departure by 52 hours to allow a Cardassian delegate to join her.
Science Officer’s Note: Bajor, and by extension DS9, has a 26 hour day. This is one of those little writerly worldbuilding details that stays consistent, and really helps sell the idea of Bajor being its own place. Take note, aspiring writers!
It’s b-plot time! Sisko has been dating a freighter captain by the name of Kasidy Yates. Jadzia Dax, the Science officer, teases Sikso that things are getting serious, which Sisko denies. Kasidy then shows up to say she’s got an interview to sign up as a freighter captain for the Bajoran government. She’d be around all the time, she could even have quarters on the station! Sisko is clearly scared by the idea, but Jadzia is having way too much fun encouraging Kasidy to care. She’s a cad.
Back at Ops (the command centre), the Cardassian delegate arrives - it’s Dukat! Dun dun dun! Ad break!
Tactical Officer’s Note: Dukat (whose first name is never confirmed in the show, but some of the novels name him Skrain) is a major recurring character on the show. Sometimes an ally, often an opponent, but never liked by the crew. He was the officer in charge of the Occupation of Bajor during its final stages, with the rank of Gul. At this point in the show, he’s recently been promoted to Legate.
On their way to rendezvous with Razka, Dukat, galaxy brained individual that he is, decides to debate Kira on the merits of the Cardassian Occupation. When Kira pushes back on this, he says “I have to desire to debate the merits of the Occupation with you”. Charming guy.
We do get Kira’s motivation here, which is that the Ravinok was transporting a prisoner by the name of Lorit Akrem. He was the man who inducted Kira into the resistance, and one of the many friends and mentors she gained during that time.
Back on the station, Kasidy is telling Sisko over dinner that she got the job and how excited she is. All he can say is “it’s a big step”, and before long Kasidy gets sick of this and storms out.
Razka’s come through though, in his new role as a scrap metal merchant. He’s gotten his hands on a piece of the Ravinok’s hull. Kira and Dukat are able to use it to track the Ravinok to the Dozaria system, which conveniently has one (1) habitable planet.
Arriving at the planet, the pair are unable to determine much more than the wreckage’s rough location and decide to land their ship and explore on foot.
Chief Engineer’s Note: Star Trek is famous for its “technobabble”, made up science-y sounding phrases designed to create and solve problems. Due to the “ionic interference”, neither scanning for lifesigns or using their transporters to beam directly to the surface are possible. Ionic interference is a favourite of the writers, great for when you want to make sure a problem can’t be solved too quickly or easily.
Sisko is busy commiserating the situation with Jadzia and the station’s Chief Medical Officer Julian Bashir. They’re no help as Julian is also having entirely too much fun with this. Quark, the owner of the local bar, which is basically a space Dave & Busters, pipes in with his own two cents. Given that Quark is a Ferengi, and Ferengi culture is so misogynistic they make your average MRA look like a feminist ally, it’s not much help.
The Ravinok is found in short order, along with a series of 13 graves. Dukat sets about identifying the remains, and refuses to let Kira help. He claims that Cardassian funeral rites are very strict, and non-Cardassians must not view the remains. Hell, he even quotes a Bajoran religious leader to justify why she shouldn’t concern herself with the bodies of her fellow Bajorans. Luckily, Bajorans all wear earrings unique to their family line, so Kira can identify the bodies from those after Dukat excavates them.
Medical Officer’s Note: they’ve landed in a scorching desert, which Dukat loves. Cardassians are lizard-like and prefer hot environments. This was a major plot point in the season 2 episode The Wire. The desert shots were filmed in Soledad Canyon, California!
A little while later, Kira emerges from the ship’s wreckage with a passenger manifest to discover Dukat lost in thought as he stares at a piece of jewellery that she identifies as a Bajoran pledge bracelet. Dukat admits that he had an ulterior motive for coming on this trip, as he hoped to find a Bajoran woman by the name of Tora Naprem. She was his mistress, and he claims that the two were in love.
Not buying that last part. Also, Dukat absolutely has a thing for Bajoran women. It keeps showing up throughout the show. He even hits on Kira every now and then.
Anyway, Kira’s able to use an old resistance trick to track the survivors.
Later that night, as they make camp in a cave, Dukat manages to get a giant stone spike impaled in his ass. The sight of him hopping around in pain as he rubs a medical doohickey of the wound prompts Kira to burst out laughing, and Dukat even joins in. It’s not really a bonding moment, but there is a certain energy to it. An abatement of hostility, perhaps.
Whatever it is, it gives Kira the courage to ask about Tora Ziyal, the name of a civilian she found on the ship’s manifest. Dukat admits the truth, Ziyal is his and Naprem’s daughter. Dukat’ sensing the Occupation was coming to an end, planned to quietly ship them off to a neutral planet to live out their lives in peace, as neither Cardassia or Bajor would accept them.  Kira, naturally, assumes he’s come to rescue Ziyal. Dukat says he’s come to kill her. Dramatic music sting. Ad break.
First Officer’s Note: Bajoran names follow Eastern naming order, meaning that Kira and Tora are family names. Also, Star Trek loves doing things in caves because they can build a new set out of the same few prop walls they have. It’s a fun detail to notice as you watch these shows.
The next day, Kira & Dukat are arguing as they pick up the trail. Dukat claims that he has too many political enemies, and a bastard child, let alone a half-Bajoran one, would give them ammunition to go after him. Kira accuses him of just being out for himself, but Dukat insists that he can only protect his family if he remains in power.
Are you getting a good feel for the kind of bastard Dukat is by this point?
This is all a bit much, how about another comic relief break in the b-plot? Sisko and his son Jake are having breakfast, and Jake mentions that he (and his friend Nog) spoke to Kasidy. As Sisko’s getting ready to give Jake a talk about the hard facts of life, Jake (having talked things through with his friend Nog) correctly diagnoses the problem as a fear of commitment. Sikso’s a widow, see, and it was his career that got Jennifer killed.
Sisko is rather bemused by this, but he can’t deny that Jake’s spot on. He asks if Jake said any of this to Kasidy. Jake says that he (and his friend Nog) considered it, but ultimately decided that Sisko should speak to Kasidy himself.
But now, at long last, we find the survivors. They’ve been taken captive by a mysterious alien race called the Breen, and are being forced to mine Dilithium ore from the planet. Presumably, it’s quite easy to do, as there’s only a few dozen survivors and no signs of heavy industry. There’s a young girl there too, presumably Ziyal.
Kira tells Dukat to go back to DS9 for reinforcements. Dukat refuses, and Kira’s obviously not going to leave Dukat with a chance to kill his daughter. Instead, they decided to mount a two person raid on the mines, which goes out without a hitch.
Well, except for the fact that Lorit died two years ago and a brief firefight gives Dukat a chance to slip away and find Ziyal. She instantly guesses who he is, having held out hope for the last six years that he’d come rescue her. Kira catches up to Dukat and threatens him at gunpoint to drop his rifle.
It’s ultimately Ziyal’s words that sway him, and Dukat can’t find it within himself to mow down his own child in cold blood.
Back on DS9, Sisko apologises to Kasidy, who accepts, and Dukat says he’s going to take Ziyal back to Cardassia to live with him. Aww, maybe he’s not such a bad guy after all.
First Officer’s Note: Yes, he is.
This is a pretty great episode. It was directed by LeVar Burton, who had been a main cast member on The Next Generation, and is remembered by many as the long running host of Reading Rainbow. He did especially well with the location shoots, making the narrow Soledad Canyon look like an expansive desert. Marc Alaimo as Dukat shows yet again why the writers kept bringing him back. He’s smarmy, oozy, hypocritical, but still retains a certain charm.
Though he only gets two short scenes, Roy Brocksmith does great as Kira’s old friend Razka. He was a jobbing character actor in the 80’s-90’s and if you’ve seen American tv from that era, chances are you’ve seen him in something.
The b-plot is a needed reprieve from the heavy nature of the main plot, but smartly it’s not played for broad comedy. Instead it’s more subdued, more grounded and relatable. Luckily, Kasidy sticks around and has a sweet relationship with Sisko, built on a genuine chemistry between the two actors.
Would I recommend this as your first Star Trek episode? Conventional wisdom would say no, it’s too steeped in the lore of DS9 and the relationships of these characters, it’s the start or mid point of so many character journeys. Sod that for a game of soldiers, I say. This is a great little story, and even without context for everything you can pick up what’s going on well enough to understand the emotional stakes. That’s far more important than knowing all the lore and linking plot points.
So, what’s next? Time to spin the wheel, I guess!

Entry number ??? A sign that I'm still watching qsmp tubbo :')))
RIP my sleep schedule, I woke up at 12 am to see British streamer in qsmp purgatory and had work at 8 am (damn you, timezone). This once VOD watcher had ascends to stressed and sleepy live watcher. And I blame Tubbo's streak thingy bc I got interested in that. And yes; I'm very biased in qsmp blue team. My pocoyo profile pic should tell you that. I may like many others like qPhilza, qJaiden, qFit, qBagi but I don't really like qsmp red team for their toxicity and stay on my qsmp blue team lane. (I'm barely awake enough to even send hateful stuff, and I'm not really someone who likes to argue with people (tap that block or mute button if you don't like to keep seeing them people!)
In that D1 Purgatory; they were divided into three groups. Red, Blue, and Green. If I'm correct the order of the team announcement was Blue first, then Red, and Green at last.
Red team spawned in a Tundra, if I'm correct, which is not bad, or not good either. They had problems with water since the beginning (and half of them are literally not online). And Green team spawned in a Bamboo forest, and had access to water, very much directly, making them the most profitable spawn of the three.
Now, blue team spawn was literally in Ice biome, which the place that supposed to be the utmost bad in Dante's inferno, and most of them can be categorised as such without doubt. Their team literally filled with people who hated eo before this purgatory arc, unlike other team, sounds like a cursed team requirements don't you think so?
First row of cubitos we seen on the blue team announcement literally said that. There was qTubbo with his whole scheme ready to fight & not to mention the distrust people had for him. qPierre, which from what I gather had a bit of operation with Cucurucho. qTina, which is a demon who disguise as a cat(?). qPac, freshly from the nether before the event started. qBBH which was literally kidnapped a fed worker.
The second row was qLuzu, which had connection with Arin & codes (?), sadly for qLenay, qNiki, and qRivers I haven't seen a stream of them, but both came from the ice prison. qPol was the one directed the ads for federation, and probably a traitor or so. I remember that people use to analyse the video or so. qMariana, though was literally chucked to lore by codeflippa, and qMissa is our sopping wet cat dad that clutch us up, and is apparently a grim reaper too, like qBBH.
The problem in this team is not only just spawn point, but also unlike the other two teams who look at eo and say "yep, in these two weeks I'm gonna be with this guy & I need to made friendship", their first thinking was just resources and individuality first. They were all the people who didn't trust too much. And insanely smart and tactical about it too. They were cautious, can fade to the background when needed, and bunch of geniuses who can be threatening when they want to be.
It all proved when they were asked to choose a leader, and they all first wanted themselves on it. They all got swayed with qTubbo being the leader though, because he's the Youngest (JK, I'm sure they think it was the best choice to have him leading them). Then the blue name problem; SoulFire team. I'm not sure who suggested it first, but maybe qLenay? Or qMissa suggested that, I need to check other vod first. (Update : It was qBadboyhalo with the soul vulture lore, cuties. Really,.)
qTubbo really made the team worked well, and in a sense of distributing leadership to other people and such. You can literally see it working together nicely, and I genuinely admire qTina for being the best co-leader. When qTubbo(?) ask her where everyone go in day 1 or 3(?) She knew where they are. She's a queen & singlehandedly revolutionise food in this purgatory. Ms. Teanakitten is one of the best of the best, ladies. Write that one down in the history.
And qBadboyhalo and qPierre! They immediately dropped down the vendetta, working together to win! What a turnaround this is. And they worked well together too! when qPac is back, its getting good and good too! Not to mention, the rest of the SoulFire team too! qPol, qMissa, qNiki, qLenay, qLuzu, qRivers. You're all amazing, and the admins knew that you're all be unbeatable.
I fear I'm writing too much but this is nowhere near my thoughts of how the gameplay work, but fuck it, I'm gonna make so many post and drink water to keep the sleepiness away woo!
P.S qsmp admins, you guys are the best
P.S.S Yeah, people needs to appreciate team SoulFire more, and I want to make a post about it too!

Fought the World (for Your Hand) - S.R.
Type: drabble-ish, post Civil War canon divergence, established relationship
Pairining: (nomad) Steve Rogers x reader      Word count: 1600
Summary: Coming back after all that happened isn’t easy. To get pardoned is harder than one might think.
The Accords are being revised and the Avengers are back to business. But some damage cannot be undone.
Tumblr media
Warnings: mentions of bad parenting, angst & fluff, allusions to smut (if you squint)
A/N: works as a standalone, but technically is a one big ‘what if’ Sparkles and Steve (Love on the Brain) went through events of Civil War - based on THIS ASK; divider by firefly-graphics 😍; lyrics (shortened) from SYML’s Body
Tumblr media
I want to love like a man I’ll build you a home when I can I fought the world for your hand
Coming back isn’t easy.
It isn’t seamless – there are smidges on the canvas of friendship and heroism and tears at the edges - but you are back.
And the story behind your return might make angels weep, or perhaps at least renew your faith in humanity as a whole. Your return seems to stand on the goodness of a human heart and the strength of broad shoulders of the man closest to Atlas the world has ever known.
Steve Rogers and a handful of his friends have been turned into criminals when they refused the Accords, some of them imprisoned – after a parody of a trial – in a federal prison that wasn’t on any map. And yet, broken out of this cage resembling the worst of nightmares, the so-called criminals continued to do good.
Silently. Without seeking recognition; because even bittered, goodness was in their blood.
And people noticed. People spoke up. A tiny law practice from the depth of Hell’s Kitchen helped to voice the concerns about the Accords and about the injustice served.
Defying all laws of the Universe, the governments of the world heard them out.
The Accords are being revised. Meanwhile, you’re all pardoned.
The Earth’s mightiest misfits are together again.
Crimes forgiven, but not forgotten. Some agree with this – some don’t.
You scoff as you wipe away your tears; disappointed, angry, heartbroken.
It’s not fair, but it is what it is. It figures your parents would belong to the latter group.
The prodigal daughter returned and they didn’t give a damn. You guess it serves you right; as long as you were catching serial killers and creeps, as long as you locked up whom everyone perceived as a bad guy, you were theirs.
Once your husband became the criminal, as did you, you were none. Even after the American damn government did the closest thing to admitting a mistake.
It’s not fair but it is what it is.
And still, you weep.
You feel him before you hear him, even if the life on the run taught you paranoia; your body knows his, every inch, tangible or not; his breath, his smell, his soft footsteps. And your brain knows you’re safe with him, as does your heart.
The way the bed dips under his weight. His strong arms, his calloused palms. The warmth of his skin, the scratch of his beard.
He embraces you and you follow, his presence as magnetic as it was long before you confessed your love. Always gravitating closer, never out of reach – inevitability.
Steve Rogers, shoulders as strong as a god itself and with more love for your little life than one, holds you to his chest and lets you soak his chest in tears, gently rocking you back and forth, fingers tender as they caress your back, stark contrast to yours fisting his shirt.
The guilt rolls off him in waves, but he wills those to be gentle as they reach the coast of your sorrowful heart. He swallows his anger at people who should always stand by you, your own blood. You can feel it burning through him, but he doesn’t voice his rage.
He holds you, an unrelenting silent force.
You don’t utter a word either.
Having been ones to talk things through eventually before, you have perfected understanding each other without words during your time on the run. In the motels that never really slept, between drunken shouts, lustful cries and thoughts screaming louder than actual words, silence was a luxury. One that not even Steve's arms could always provide.
But it does work now.
You let it all out, until you have no tears to shed anymore, until the raft of emotions settles at a shore, safely brought back home; a solid home, built from cells, tissue and blood instead of bricks, roofed under a beautiful soul the world tried to tear to shreds so many times.
Steve gently combs your hair back as he feels your breathing change, your tension melt away. Only when you tip your head back, finding the sea of his eyes glassy with an unshed tear or two, he finally speaks.
“I’m sorry, sweetheart."
It makes you sad; and you’re outraged. Yet, you’re in love, still.
A small smile plays in the corner of your mouth as you squint at him, a little playful.
“Don't you give me that face, GG,” you reprimand him softly, causing the worried wrinkle on his forehead to deepen, before his right eyebrow arches.
“What, I cannot be sorry that you're hurting?”
There’s an unhappy note in his teasing. You brush your fingers over his creased forehead, long fingers catching your hand to cradle it gently.
“You, GG, can be anything. Even mine.”
He sighs, gaze tenderer than before, a promise – and he seems to think it is more of a life sentence – on his lips.
“I am. Always. And I am sorry,” he whispers and it would be foolish to doubt the truth behind his words.
You know this.
You understand.
But you don’t fully agree.
People who turn their back on you like your parents did do not deserve to weigh on his already heavy conscience.
“I know. So am I. But I don't blame you. Or me,” you say, swallowing the creak in your voice; because you believe this.
And he has to learn to do the same.
You know he doesn’t yet; but it’s a journey. It’s a journey for you too, because losing your parents to this hurts, god, does it hurt. But you know you’re right.
“I did what I could. Once we were back, I did reach out. They refused. That's on them. I tried, even after they dragged my name – your name – through the mud, spitted on it and even looked like they enjoyed it.”
Anger laces your voice at the injustice, at the betrayal, and you can hear the stitches on Steve’s wounded heart cry with effort to keep the precious muscle together.
The guilt, the pain, the rage – you can read it in his face as it all peaks, but you charm a smile and the barely-there movement of your lips magically makes you feel better, and maybe it helps him too. It definitely feels better when you turn your hand in his and squeeze lightly, thumb running over his scarred knuckles.
He fought so much in his life that not even the serum could handle it anymore.
Maybe the scars that remained were from punching ghosts and mirages, intangible things that didn’t bleed and couldn’t be fully bested when he tried to beat them anyway.
“Sparkles-“
You shake your head to stop him; you’re not done.
You hurting was not the message – you both know that already.
“But bless their heart, they got one thing right,” you continue as he watches you, eyes large pools of sadness and adorable confusion that takes ten years from his real age despite the beard he has been sporting since your days as fugitives.
A large man with a beard and a heart of gold; the original nomad.
“They talked shit, but they never said you led me astray. They blamed my decision on me,” you say slowly, freeing your hand from his to rake your fingers through the tickly beard, fingertips brushing over his lips when you feel him suck in a breath – no, you are still talking. He kisses your fingers tenderly, understanding this; patient. “I went with you and took your side because I was and am yours, yes. But also because it was what I believed in. And I don’t regret it, Steve.”
You see his Adam’s apple bob as his eyes avoid looking into yours, a shudder running through his body; and as a consequence, it does through yours too, because you’re still in his lap, side to chest, face to face, skin to skin. Lover to lover; best friend to best friend, even if Bucky would maybe have a thing or two to say about that.
The thought makes you smile wider as you push slightly against Steve’s jaw to make him meet your gaze.
Because this is important. This is the most important part.
“You're not responsible for my choices. Even if you're one of them,” you whisper and his hands squeeze you tight as his face shines with affection; love renewed, as if it has ever been gone.
And it wasn’t. It just built and built and sometimes you wonder if it can ever grow higher than the Tower of Babel; one that withstands a fury of man and gods alike.
“I love you.”
Simple as that; three little words and yet two of them would be enough. I and you. You and I. Together.
“I love you too,” you say back, fingers moving to sink into his long strands. A handsome man he is, your husband. Complicated, but so simple in his principles. You circle back. “So... you know. Don't give me that face.”
He huffs a silent chuckle when he realizes what you mean – that feeling sorry is okay, but misplaced guilt is not – and his lips find yours, tasting of sunshine, gratitude and adoration.
He kisses you deep. He gives and he takes, and he lays you down on your bed, pouring all his feelings – feelings that seem larger than himself and he is already of impressive size, as you like to remind him – into his lips and hands, to cover you with all the love you deserve.
He cannot fix the mess he made. He never could, as desperately as he wished to.
But he can be here. He can give you his everything; build you a new home, a new family, helping you forget the sorrow of your stolen one. It isn’t exactly a hardship he will undergo unwillingly. Less so when your body melts into his, your affection tangling with his own.
All he can do for you is to be yours.
And he will.
And he will thank every day to whoever is up there that despite all odds, you are his.

If you’re thinking about sitting out the Presidential election because you’re unsatisfied with the major party options OR because you think you have principled philosophical reasons to not like Biden, please keep in mind what is at stake.
- Trump being in office again and having the power of the executive broadly (this is bad enough, also kind of my catch-all for things unlisted that you might think up)
- Trump seeking revenge, retribution, and repression of political freedoms of those who don’t support him, you can imagine for yourself how this might manifest, including through promoting political violence from his followers, which he hasn’t pledged to not allow
- Trump attacking the opposition party as part of his “revenge,” perhaps in ways that are more substantive than before, possibly through weaponizing the DOJ against political enemies
- Trump actually following through on his promise that in his first day in office that he would be a dictator, but only on day one, you can see him speak about this when he was on Fox News
- Trump attempting and/or succeeding at implementing Project 2025 (the playbook for a fascist takeover which, very oversimplified, looks to centralize political power in the hands of the executive)
- Trump possibly appointing two new Supreme Court justices, assuming the two older justices (Alito and Thomas) leave early to get replaced by ideologically similar judges, the history books will say we allowed him five Supreme Court appointments (three in his first term + two replacements)
- Trump possibly appointing more conservative justices across the lower courts, there are many vacancies at present (including on the U.S. District Courts), Trump appointed many judges on these lower courts in his first term after the Republican Senate prevented Obama from appointing any, arguably these were even worse for the longterm health of the country than the Supreme Court appointments
- Trump probably appoints an even crazier second Presidential cabinet filled with his allies (people who are subservient to his whims and support him fanatically, something like Giuliani as Attorney General or something, Vivek anywhere in his administration is scary)
- Trump pardoning himself from the majority of his crimes (unsure how many he can succeed with pardoning himself from, not a legal expert, IIRC he can’t pardon himself out of Georgia at least)
- Trump procuring 91 criminal charges across four separate cases (the Washington D.C. Jack Smith case, the Georgia election interference case, the classified documents case, the Stormy Daniels case), you can watch a quick recap here, this should immediately make him unqualified for public office
- Trump potentially using the Insurrection Act of 1807 which allows the President with very little oversight to order “U.S military and federalized national guard troops within the United States in particular circumstances, such as to suppress civil disorder, insurrection, or rebellion” (per Wikipedia), something which he may use as soon as his first day in office to support protests
- Trump pardoning some/all of his associates and acolytes that have helped him over the years, assuring that they’ll never face justice (Giuliani comes to mind, others who have been loyal, Gaetz will never face justice for unlawfully trafficking minors)
- Trump possibly working to free the January 6th participants, who he’s repeatedly labeled as “hostages,” as in freeing the people who tried to assist him in overthrowing the government, danced around it as recently as his 03/20 rally
Trump has also on multiple occasions had a “January 6th prison choir” at his rallies that perform live songs as recently as his 03/20 rally, this is ongoing (side note)
- Trump possibly getting full control of the federal government just like the 115th Congress (Trump winning the White House makes it very statistically likely even with an overperformance on our side that he also wins the Senate, the House is still a tossup, anybody’s game)
- Trump possibly trying to sign some sort of federal abortion ban, Trump prided himself on killing Roe vs Wade and then said it was up to the states, though privately, reports have come out that Trump is proposing a federal abortion ban to mirror those in various states
- Trump trying once again to build a border wall/trying to do other horrible things to “illegal” undocumented immigrants (he promised tighter border security + Republicans have been focusing a lot on immigration recently), called migrants “animals” at a 03/20 rally
- Trump promised a mass deportation of “illegal” undocumented immigrants, this is a pretty standard Republican talking point nowadays but still absolutely unacceptable
- Trump potentially using the military against foreign drug cartels in their own sovereign territory, something that was also promoted by fellow Republicans that ran in the primary
- Trump signing KOSA into law (a far right backed bill to “protect kids on the Internet”), which will also likely overturn Section 230 (very oversimplified, the law that states what happens on these platforms, say Tumblr, is not Tumblr’s responsibility, they can’t be sued as if they were a participant, if this was overturned, it would lead to severe content restrictions since now Tumblr, and others, can be sued for everything)
- Trump signing federal age restriction mandates similar to those that have been passed recently in several states (Texas and seven others, with more than a dozen states with similar bills in the legislature), making it so you have to provide identification to access pornographic material
- Trump pulling us out of various international agreements (among them the Paris Climate Accord, which he pulled out of in his first term, for example), the U.S. will never be trusted internationally again
- Trump pulling out of NATO (an important international strategic alliance we’ve had since the 1950s that has safeguarded our spot as the superpower of the world), something he teased repeatedly in his first term
- Trump threatening nuclear war or some similarly large military escalation when he tries to intimidate our perceived enemies about how vast our military capabilities are
- Trump possibly withholding aid from Ukraine/strongarming them to accept a peace deal which will mean they have to cede major territory to Putin (we’ve seen already that Trump is willing to strongarm Ukraine for political purposes, see his first impeachment trial, plus Trump says that he can end the war in less than a day, about the only way this is feasible is Ukraine ceding ground)
- Trump possibly ignoring the Palestine genocide in terms of offering any humanitarian assistance/allowing Israel to have their way unrestricted (you can criticize our President on Israel for very fair reasons but Trump would be significantly worse if your goal is to save Palestine)
- Trump possibly inflaming tensions with Iran (either intentionally by attacking first or indirectly through proxy via involvement vs Hamas or Hezbollah/support of Israel), a war that neither side needs
- Trump provoking tensions with China which may lead to a more substantive lapse in the relationship that won't help either of us (another trade war or unlikely on the ground war), the Republicans have been very rabid about China lately in their efforts to ban TikTok
- Trump potentially encouraging China to try to invade Taiwan like they've been posturing about for over half a century, sensing weakness from Trump or that he won't support Taiwan like the Americans had previously pledged
- Trump promised to reinstate the previous travel bans imposed on several Muslim-majority countries, something which originally happened in his first Presidential term
- Trump promises to promote oil drilling once again (he promised his first day in office when he's a dictator), possibly offshore fracking (judging by the position of the party), setting us behind in switching away from oil + harming the planet
- Trump probably slashes the subsidies for electric vehicles, setting us behind in switching over (optimistic outlooks say 10-15 years for electric vehicles once they've reached their full potential to phase out gas vehicles from the market), recently at a campaign event he spoke very negatively about them (the "bloodbath" speech)
- Trump promised a “100% tariff” on all vehicles that are imported by Chinese run factories that they’re building in Mexico, which is absolutely ludicrous in terms of a policy proposal
- Trump stating there will be a “bloodbath” at an 03/16 rally assuming he’s not elected President once again, when pushed back, Trump suggested he was talking about what will happen to the auto industry, though many think he was making some kind of veiled threat
- Trump promises to use the National Guard in major cities struggling with violent crime and problems with drugs, something that would be a significant overreach and very displacing for their populations
This list will be added to as more becomes available about what Trump plans to/is likely to do.
Though these things seem horrible, and might even make you feel hopeless, through the mobilization of voters, we’re stronger than we think we are, even at the sunset of democracy.

Imagine being such a lazy and incompetent writer, that you not only forget to give one character closure but at least two.
Rant incoming:
You can do so much with Narek's character and I would have loved seeing him getting a redemption ark, exploring the cult of the Zhat Vash and interacting with other people than his sister. Dang, let him realise that he has been brainwashed since his childhood, allow him to overcome his prejudice and trauma with the help of Laris or even Elnor and make him a powerful ally through the plot, which could have been so strong and interesting to watch. But no. They literally forgot about him and Chabon’s clarification, or better his planned fate doesn't make sense. Why should he be brought into federation custody?
A) What he did was horrible, yet inside of romulan space and under romulan laws dedicated towards a then illegal life form who has most likely signed a contract agreeing to said laws and possible consequences of conflict with the police/ the Tal Shiar. As a result, they shouldn’t be able to arrest him for anything since he was also way too young to be involved into the destruction of Mars.
B) Moreover, he recognised his mistakes and showed a will to work on himself. Prison will only make him loose that short window of change of mind and harden his believes, since he spends the whole time with himself and we all know how thoughts can spiral into hate and frustration rather than understanding and reflection. His whole world collapsed around him and instead of taking the shot to work with him, they leave him alone with his thoughts and the urge to find someone to blame for his misery?
Even though I am heartbroken to what they did to the La Sirena crew, I felt like they had some sort of resolution inside the seasons and their arcs, not perfect or satisfying but still (we don’t talk about how the writers ripped everything apart in season 3, that is another essay worth of rant). I deeply mourn for what could have been and are beyond mad they threw out Soji and Elnor so fast. It just felt cheap. I can understand why they did it with Elnor, to give Raffi a motive to work through her guilt for manipulating him (which kind of got brushed off and came out of nowhere so idk why you couldn’t leave him in there and work through it alive and together).
For Soji, why give us Core when you don’t plan on doing something more with here than give the actor and Spinner something to do. How great would have been it, if Soji met her look alike and got to understand the origin of her “bloodline” and the reason behind her creation, something she desperately longed for. Let her find acceptance for herself and the confidence in her skin she deserves. Let her be more than some diplomate and a tool to portray the conflict between Agnes and Rios. The money I would give to see both of them coming up the agreement to work together and Soji’s decision to change her job from an anthropologist or doctor (I am not sure what her profession fell under) to an ambassador. SHOW US, please. To be honest, I can’t see Paramount doing a show with the watchers and Core, so why waste that time with a plot you could have given to a character already established in the season before, a whole audience was thrilled for?
And Laris... Cutting her off for nostalgia porn and claiming it was out of budget? How cheap is this please?! She deserved way better and not being tossed in the trash so carelessly by so called fans! If you don’t want her in the main storyline, fine. Just give her an ending. A sentence or brief interaction. She and Picard were literally a couple, so why deny her the interaction with Beverly and her stepson?
You can say what you want about star trek Picard but I think we all can agree on one statement: Picard has been such a massive mess in terms of carrying the plotline, characters and ideas throughout the seasons to a point were it almost felt like they have been completely different series from the beginning. Every season had such an unique idea and character developments, which got tossed aside and completely ignored in later episodes.
I know enough people have talked about this already but I needed to get it out of my system.

This is just so absurd I can’t not talk about it, so please read this short political analysis, even if you don’t usually read these, because this is…hilarious.
This election, almost 70% of the vote below the age of 21 went to democrats. Single women by a margin of 30 points voted Democratic. Minorities (particularly black women) broke for Dems overwhelmingly, black women mobilizing over 95% of their members in some constituencies.
The GOP is taking time to analyze this, running numbers, wondering how they can appeal to young people and women instead of only angry racist old white men…and these are their solutions so far as stated by multiple pundits on FOX, and why they are stupid:
Single women vote for Dems? Answer? Men, marry these women. Literally someone said “put a ring on it”. They said “it’s easy to see why single women vote Democratic—their policies keep women single”.
Why is this stupid? Well beyond the obvious misogyny of “we should just woo and marry women and then control them so they align with us politically”? There’s the fact that because women no longer need a man, to survive, men are now forced to bring character to the table, something many men (I’m thinking the alpha males of tiktok) never had to grow because of their privilege. You cannot just send men out into the world to literally conquer a woman’s heart. They’re not stupid. They can see when they’re not dating a decent guy. That’s why they stopped marrying them.
They’ve been, I kid you not, debating RAISING THE VOTING AGE TO 21.
Here is why that’s fucking idiotic, broken into many easy parts. 1. If they can’t vote, then they cannot be taxed, nor recruited for the military, nor jailed as adults. How’s that going to affect prisons, the military, taxes?
Well there’s over 600k active duty military below the age of 25 out of 1.35 million…you tell me.
16% of our tax revenue comes from the under 25 bracket
Oh right and what are they supposed to do? They can’t go to college, since….how are they going to be able to sign contracts for student loans if they aren’t being fairly represented or given adult status? Are they going to raise the legal age of adulthood since adults age 18-21 can no longer do anything of their own accord, extend high school again to stockpile them while they’re not being busy or just recruit them straight into the terrible service jobs in which the GOP hopes they remain?
I’m telling you…there is nothing to offer but no climate, rich billionaires, more debt, less freedom, less rights, and bigotry in that party. They want to destroy education to keep people stupid. They want to use religion to control. That party is not a party. It’s an evil conspiracy. Meaning the kids and the ladies will shy away. They have nothing to offer. Nothing. So they have to cheat.
Make no mistake the the abortion ban idea was specifically to encumber these two groups with crippling debt and dependency. That party has nothing to offer. Especially with trump running it. And this they well know. Most of his candidates lost. Most. And the red wave that was expected was nonexistent. One of two things will now happen:
My predictions:
Expect lots and lots of redistributing debates to cheat, I.e. gerrymandering but that’s a given.
1. Trump is a malignant narcissist. He doesn’t care about party or the country. During this election he said “if they win I should get the credit and if they lose I shouldn’t be blamed” a “head I win, tails you lose” if ever there was one. He will run again in 2024 despite the overwhelming repudiation by voters. He will (not?) win the primary, but he will take so much of the GOP base vote with him that it splits the vote and hands Dems a second Biden presidency.
Or
2. If the house is taken by the GOP, they will bargain with him to shut down federal oversight of him (including J6 hearings) to convince him not to run. He will still likely screw them in meaningful ways.
Unless he ends up in prison because of other investigations they can’t control…so the first seems most likely.
TLDR:
The kids and women are alright. Death to the Boomers. Enjoy your avocado if you can afford it. Don’t get married. Keep voting for change and keep using these platforms to educate your peers.

I snickered at her comment, gently petting her hair and caressing her large side-rolls “My my, guess we'll both be prisoners for a federal offense, but I don't mind, not being able to see you would be a much worse punishment than being behind bars" I moved onto the box of cupcakes and grabbed the last two that were there, taking great delight in the way in which she completely vanished them.
“You know what I think is adorable? The contrast between your personality and your gluttony. Here you are, a classy woman with impeccable taste, such a giant heart, funny and majestic in every way, yet you manage to devour food like it's air. Is there something you're not good at, my love?"
I pressed my hands against her hips, watching them disappear in her mass amount of dough, tracing every hint of cellulite and stretchmarks I could find “I must agree, I would love to see you struggle a little. I can't help it, it just reminds me how much you've let go and how good I have made life for you, do you think that's a mean thing to do? But trust me, I will make it up to you, I will spoil you so rotten that there won't be a single second where you will miss your job. If I don't make you the happiest woman alive, I have failed at my job. I just really you don't mind when you outwidden our bed, Ms. Hips~"
"It's not like they've got a cell big enough for all of this, or an easy way to move me~ They'd have to put us on house arrest, which would suit us just fine. Locked in our lovely home all day with just the two of us~ Maybe we should report ourselves, then we won't have any reason to be apart~" She giggled a little at the idea, enjoying their hands roaming over her lard laden form so delicately and sensually. Everywhere their hands went, little tingles went across Natasha, like their touch was electrified!
She blushed as they mentioned the vast contrast, and it was indeed vast. How she ate was more akin to the most gluttonous of people, those with little else on their minds but gorging. But Natasha was still fully in possession of her faculties, still the same woman that they had fallen for. There was just a lot more of her now, and she could eat a lot more than before, all with their help and love. If love could be manifested physically, Natasha's body was a perfect example!~ "Well, I can at least partially blame you~ How much did I weigh when we first met? It wasn't long after the Snap, so I was probably...what a few hundred pounds? Could just about manage a large burger and fries. But now look at me~ All this, it's evidence of how good I have it, how loved I am, all from you~" She kissed them again happily, overjoyed by the outcome of their relationship~
"Oh honey, you could never fail at this. Just look how big I am, how far we've both come together. You've done the opposite of failed, sweetie. You've won. You're making me feel so loved, you've helped make me this massive. So don't even think about yourself being a failure for one moment. You're winning, so let's keep the winning streak up, and watch these hips go even wider, spilling and oozing over the bed. Needing two of these beds for me, then two more besides~ Every pound, every ounce...it's another victory for us both~ And I can't wait to grow bigger and bigger, for both of us~" She held her flabby arms up, fat dangling down as she gestured to her enormously wide hips. She wanted to get so wide, so vast, that no bed could hold her~

Okay so… (sighs) “What choice marks”. That’s what you sent. I guess I should have seen that coming. It’s the question I’d ask too.
[click, static]
I’m surprised you haven’t put it together yet. We both know I haven’t been careful about what I say on here, what I say to you. I know you figured out that I was an art thief long before I told you. And I’ve already said a lot about…
[click, static]
We got caught, right? I’ve told you that. That last job…we got caught. I’m still not sure how, but I guess it doesn’t matter anymore. And that was a few months before we—
[click, static]
We were being transported. Harry and I. There’s a—um, there’s a federal prison in Pennsylvania and the two of us had gotten into a little trouble at the county jail that we’d been in before that so we were sent up the river.
I guess it isn’t really called that if you’re sent to Pennsylvania. We weren’t going up the Hudson to Sing-Sing, we were—
[click, static]
You know, I don’t actually like talking about it very much. It wasn't a particularly shining time in my life, you know? It’s not like I hadn’t spent time in jail before—a night here or there throughout my twenties for one thing or another, but this was…
I don’t even know where the guys ended up. I guess I should’ve been thankful that Harry was on the job with us, otherwise I’d have been entirely alone. It’s not like we shared a cell or anything, though if you count six years trapped in a house together in the woods then…
[click, static]
I shouldn’t joke about that. It’s not the same. Yeah, I complain about the last six years with Harry, how suffocating they were, how lonely and isolating and stifling it all was, how frustrating to be stuck with her and have no idea what was going on in the wider world but it beat the alternative by a long shot. Even before I knew there was a chance I could go back into the world, even when it seemed like the smart thing to do was stay in that house with her for the rest of time, it was still better than being where we were headed. A cage of your own choosing right? And even if the world hadn’t been flipped upside down, maybe enough years would’ve passed that we could’ve gone somewhere and started over.
[click, static]
I don’t mean together necessarily. I mean, we each could’ve gone wherever we want, taken on new names, dyed our hair…I don’t know. We assumed that our escape would’ve made us wanted fugitives—and I’m sure it would’ve if there’d been anyone to do the chasing—but I don’t know, I have to think that two art thieves would hardly have been on the FBI’s most wanted list forever or even to begin with. We could’ve figured something out once the initial heat had died down. I mean, it’s not like we were murderers or—
[click, static]
I don’t—
Look, it’s not important. What’s done is done and I’m not sure I owe you an explanation, not when you haven’t given me one for why you feel so guilty about your job. Other than the vague assertion that you’ve “hurt people”.
And you know what? You don’t have to tell me. Let’s just agree to skate past those parts of each other and move on, okay? There’s nothing to be gained from pulling out the skeletons from each other’s closets.
