one of my favourite things about the bad kids is absolutely none of them are part of conventional families. you've got:

- fig "four parents" faeth, with her mom and bio dad and step dad and step dad

- fabian, whose dad is dead, living with an emotionally absent alcoholic mother with her boyfriend in the garage while most of his parental connection comes from his maid

- adaine being disowned and moving in with her guidance counsellor turned adoptive father and her older sister, who's kind of an asshole but they're working on it

- transracial adoptee gorgug who loves both sets of parents very much, thank you (and doesn't need his parents dickhead relatives in his life)

- riz and his overworked but genuinely lovely single mother

As an eligible young noble of no small fame, Ambroys had a number of arranged courtships and suitresses in his youth, but any nascent marriages always fell through.

It's not that he didn't try; he certainly knew how to court a lady (perhaps too well, according to many fathers and husbands), and when he lacked knowledge on the affairs of womens' hearts, he sought counsel from a young woman who was a dear friend of his (perhaps too much counsel, according to his own father). Nonetheless, all he garnered for his efforts was separation after separation.

Ah, well. Maybe it was for the best.

I feel like this last episode really has been such a big reminder that Jawbone is not in any way trained to be a guidance counselor. Is he amazing at his job yes he’s great he’s helped so many kids but he is not legally qualified, plus there’s the added factor of him only having the job because of a party of students who are currently at the school and his adoptive daughter stepdaughter and the kid whose been living with him for months all go there so he can’t be truly impartial in matters concerning them like he’s supposed to. Do I think he shouldn’t have the job no because he’s amazing at it otherwise but I do think that there should be a second counselor with no connections to any of the students

Fantasy retelling of Northanger Abbey:

Innocent young Catherine Morland is overjoyed to have the chance to go to the King's City, leaving her quiet country town for a more diverse and magical metropolis.

Catherine loves reading fairy tales about the dramatic deeds of long-ago fae.

Henry Tilney is a trickster fairy prince who is jaded by a lifetime of dealing with the machinations of the fae courts. He gets amusement out of living among humans and laughing at their follies.

Catherine meets Henry and is immediately awed at his backstory and (metaphorically) enchanted by his charming personality.

For reasons unknown, Henry's father encourages Henry to romantically pursue Catherine. Henry half-heartedly goes along with it, because it's not a bad idea to stay in Dad's good graces.

And then he's shocked to find himself actually falling in love--because Catherine loves him and because she's genuinely innocent and good in a world where he thought such people didn't exist.

To everyone's surprise, Catherine gets an invite to stay at Henry's father's palace.

An actual enchanted fairy palace? How could Catherine say no?

As they're traveling there, Henry plays up all the old fairy tale tropes warning Catherine how to behave. He's joking (things haven't been like that for centuries) but Catherine still takes it to heart.

Catherine hears of the dramatic tale of the life and death of Henry's mother (perhaps a human? So Henry's actually only half-fae?). With her imagination primed by the stories she knows, Catherine starts to interpret faint "evidence" as proof that his mother's actually hidden away under a fate-worse-than-death curse, perhaps just waiting for a pure-of-heart maiden to come break the spell.

Henry catches Catherine during her quest and is amused and a bit offended. Do you know what you're saying? Maybe things like that could happen long ago and far away, but the fairies are Christianized now. Enchantments like that are far too brutal to consider.

She's right that his dad's a jerk, though.

Not long after this, Henry's dad sends Catherine away in disgrace. He had heard that Catherine was the Chosen One of a prophecy and wanted her to increase the power of his kingdom. He's shocked to learn it's not true (you mean humans can lie?), and in his anger he's harsh in sending her away.

Henry refuses to abandon Catherine and gets himself banished for refusing to give her up.

He shows up at her ordinary home and declares his love and they live happily ever after.

FFXVI really takes your hand and says 'come with me', then shows you a world that is broken and full of pain and heartache and selfishness and cruelty. It shows you the terrible things people are willing to do to each other for no good reason, it shows you how how leaders can be short sighed and foolish in their earnest desire to do the right thing for their people, and that causes no less pain then when they are corrupted and arrogant and vain monsters. It shows you how people's cruelty all to often is born of a world that beats them down that gives them no other choice but to be cruel if they want to survive.

And then it asks: is this worth saving? Is this worth protecting? Wouldn’t it be better if you just let it all go? Let it all be destroyed, and broken apart, and lost? Wouldn’t it be enough to just end the pain? Wouldn’t that be salvation?

And in the same breath it answers, no because salvation isn’t the point. Humanity is cruel, greedy, fractious and hateful and it always will be. Just as humanity is kind, generous, united and loving and always will be. Even as the world falls apart The Dame fights to keep Northreach together, even as monsters beat down her gates Martha takes in refugees and escaped slaves and refuses to stop, even as nations crumble and bandits flourish the Dragoons still battle for the sake of their people and country, while the Crusebreakers keep struggling to free the innocent and protect the weak. Even as Joshua is hacking up blood, even as his body is shutting down he keeps walking forward at Clive’s side inevitably, inexorably to the end, because he loves his brother and refuses to give him up to Ultima’s scheme.

FFXVI tells you that there are no promises, not guarantees, that the only people who can promise salvation are the ones who want to sell it. FFXVI says that no one is assured victory, or safety, or paradise. The point is not to save the world from it’s evils. The point is that we fight to try and reach the next dawn with the people we love. Humanity can never create a perfect world because we are imperfect creatures, but the battle to make a better world, a kinder world, a more free world, a more gentle more fair, more loving world is what defines us.

How to make a mimic Christmas ornament~.

Materials needed

Fimo White for behind the eyes

Fimo White for the body (or pick any colour you want, there are glitter options!)

Fimo Translucent White (for the teeth)

Clear glass Christmas bauble

Glass eyes. Roughly 9 per mimic. Do not use plastic, those need to be able to take the oven baking of roughly 100°.

First step: Make a bunch of teeth from the Translucent White Fimo. I use a baking pan, because it has the perfect curved edge to make the teefies curved.

Bake. Repeat till you have a bunch of teefies.

Put a noodle of white fimo on the baubles. This is the general shape of the mouth.

Add the already hardened teefies.

Once you have added enough teeth, add lips with White Fimo. Personally, I flattened a noodle and put two layers of that on. It's a fantasy creature, do whatever you feel is right for you. :D

Bake at 100°.

While this is baking the teeth and later the lips, you can prep the glass eyes. If your eyes come with wire hoops, clip those off and embed them in the Fimo.

I use roughly 9 glass eyes of different sizes per mimic.

I placed the eyes on a flattened bit of white fimo. Use white in any case if your eyes are see through: The white fimo here will make them look their colour. Then add lids. Same deal as with the lips, it's a fantasy creature, there is no right or wrong approach. Go wild.

Once the baubles with the lips finished baking and are hardened, place the eyes on the bauble, where you feel they might work for you.

Do that on ONE HALF of the bauble. Not both, will be hard to hold the bauble and not squish what you already sculpted if you do both halfs at the same time.

If you don't feel confident about how to get it right yet, start at the bottom.

Fill the space between the eyes and lips with white fimo.

Smooth it. I used the back end of a round pencil for that, since I don't have tools for sculpting, I just improvise.

Add whatever texture you feel like. I like swirls.

Since I'm not too great at smoothing out rough bits, I put some texture and warts on it.

One side done.

Bake at 100°.

Careful, the glass eyes get hot and stay hot longer than the rest of the sculpt or the bauble.

Repeat the eye-fitting and sculpting on the other side. NEARLY THERE!

Bake at 100° for the last time! :D (yes, this is the same image every time. <3 )

im just going to say the trend i see in mine and others askboxes to freak out about “max and charles barely interacting on the podium” is ridiculous. at the end of the day they’re colleagues for rival teams, max’s first priority after a race win is going to be the team. he’s going to a. include his teammate and b. spray the red bull guy who is both furiously spraying rose water on him and has never been up on a podium before! max and charles interacted plenty, we got like three seconds of the cooldown room and for those three seconds max was nattering away to charles. he is literally not ignoring him, he’s just doing his job which is to focus on the team which is enabling him to have such a large winning streak.
