I’m not great with my social skills, but isn’t it generally considered bad etiquette to not inform the public when one has an evil twin/clone?
I watched David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers before my kidney stone surgery. I'm a complete fucking idiot like that.

The Iron Claw: Review
Fighting with my family
Tumblr media
With the super tight trunks and dodgy haircuts, there’s something wonderfully daft about the world of professional wrestling. But whether it’s The Wrestler or Foxcatcher, the sport has served as a serious topic to explore the destructive nature of masculinity in cinema. Weighing in at just over 2 hours, the latest to join the ring is The Iron Claw, a poignant true story about an ill-fated wrestling family.
Set in 1980s Texas, we spend our time with the Von Erichs, an unusually close family of wrestlers and athletes. Led by patriarch and former pro wrestler Fritz Von Erich (a steely Holt McCallany) with his formidable wife Doris (a marvelous Maura Tierney), he rules the home with an iron claw, and looks to his four sons to carry on his wrestling legacy. He even has a hierarchy of what boys he favors - there’s olympic athlete Kerry (Jeremy Allen White), eldest son Kevin (Zac Efron), swaggering David (Harris Dickinson), and the more sensitive Mike (Stanley Simons). As the brothers jostle for a higher position, Kevin starts to have doubts about his father’s tough love approach.
While Fighting with my Family looked at how professional wrestling could bring a family together, this looks at how the need to appear macho in the sport can slowly tear a family apart. The Von Erich family is presented as a stifling cage that the brothers can’t escape, where talking about your feelings is taboo, and shedding a tear during a funeral too ‘unmanly’. There’s even a family curse that is invoked in the face of tragedy, when someone is pushed too close to the edge. From Sean Durkin, writer-director of Martha Marcy May Marlene, this is another excellent study of pent-up emotion and repressed feelings, with a show-don’t-tell approach that grounds the story, and makes major plot developments more upsetting.
As the Von Erich family makes a name for itself in the world of NWA wrestling, the sudden fame and physical demands begin to impact the family dynamic in fascinating, devastating ways. This results in some truly layered performances, including Allen White as the troubled Kerry, and Simons as Mike, whose inability to fit the macho mold is the most heart-breaking plot point. While Kevin’s eyes are opened to a different kind of life with girlfriend Pam (a spirited Lily James), it’s fair to say the others aren’t so lucky.
Sitting ringside to this story of family turmoil is Efron’s Kevin, the brawny elder brother whose emotional maturity has been stilted by the pursuit of someone else’s dream. Trading in on his physicality (and a strong resemblance to He-Man), Efron is perfectly cast as a troubled man who chafes against his father’s domineering parental style, but struggles to put his doubts into words. It’s a complex and perceptive performance, allowing Efron to flex acting muscles that he previously hasn’t been able to. Like his central performance, the film aches with sadness and regret, acting as a plea for men everywhere: when the going gets tough, don’t be afraid to cry!
With a masterful grasp of tone and subtle story-telling that packs a punch, The Iron Claw is a sad and compelling story about the limits of traditional masculinity.

I must admit that I get very emotional when a franchise reaches an endpoint and does something special for the main actors. Star Trek’s The Undiscovered Country was the last movie with all the TOS crew, and after the final scene, they had them sign their names across a screen of stars. Well, fast-forward to watching many Marvel movies and getting to the credits of Endgame. They started slowly with generic shots of the additional characters who have become Avengers, and then they hit hard. Silhouettes of each of the six original Avengers appeared in the middle of the screen with the actor signing their names in silver. So yeah, I might have cried A LOT more than I thought possible lol. Every time I watched Endgames and saw the signatures, I would think about making gifs. I had already done something similar for the Star Trek signatures ( https://papersniffer.tumblr.com/post/693392030372708352/second-star-to-the-right-and-straight-on-till ). Tonight, I finally got around to taking those Endgame moments and turning them into gifs. Giphy wouldn’t allow them without modifications, so I added some bordering. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. :)

I’m back to my marathon of Disney movies in order and I just finished watching The Lion King for the first time in forever and let me tell you I will never be over what Disney has done to not only its legacy but that of many of its other properties.

Tom Hiddleston was given a royal assignment on Thursday evening. An ambassador for the Prince's Trust, the Loki actor, 43, attended the charity's Invest in Futures event, where he relayed a poignant message written by King Charles.
"I really am so pleased that The Trust's work continues to go from strength to strength, having, in recent years, expanded from its mission in the United Kingdom to now supporting young people in twenty-three countries," read Tom.
Tumblr media
"Celebrating the global impact of this work is an achievement which, I must confess, I could not have dreamed of back in 1976 when I started The Trust, using, at that time, my Royal Navy severance pay when I left the Service to help disadvantaged young people achieve their full potential.
"I am thrilled to say that it has now worked with over one million young people, helping them to start careers, launch businesses and re-engage with education. I am enormously inspired by the determination and commitment of young people, one of whom you will hear from later. They are changemakers; they will shape the world's future and we must support them to realise their dreams."
A momentous occasion for the Prince's Trust, the annual Invest in Futures gala is the charity's principal fundraising event, and this year it was held at The Peninsula London in Belgravia. While King Charles has historically attended the annual event, this year, his letter proved extremely powerful, conveying the importance of the charity's work.
A star-studded affair, Tom was accompanied by his fiancée Zawe Ashton for the festivities. Posing for photos together, the loved-up couple held hands and stared into each other's eyes. HELLO! even spotted lady in red Zawe telling Tom how "gorgeous" he looked in his tux.
Rounding out the guest list, Prince's Trust ambassadors Joseph Fiennes, Jeremy Irons, Naomie Harris, Major Tim Peake, Luke Evans and Myleene Klass were also in attendance.
Meanwhile, musical duo Rod Stewart and Jools Holland provided the entertainment, performing songs from their newly launched album Swing Fever, before handing the baton to DJ Cuppy.
Tumblr media
It's been a royally busy week for A-lister Tom. Just 24 hours before the letter reading, the actor had been photographed meeting with Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace. Attending a reception for the BBC's 500 Words Finalists on Wednesday, Tom appeared engrossed in conversation, enjoying a laugh or two with Camilla, and music star Olivia Dean.

So now people out here trying to say Jeremy isn't that great of an actor?!
I can't even. They trying to say it's shocking that he is now the biggest star from Shameless, he was the weakest performance in The Iron Claw, Lip is the same as Carmy, he doesn't have the range to play Willy Wonka (I don't want him to play him anyway and the implication that Chalamet is a better actor is laughable), and he is limited in ability is ludicrous. And now, supposedly he doesn't deserve the accolades for Carmy. Ebon, a seasoned actor and costar, speaks to how hard Carmy is to play so the fact that people are trying to disparage his wins for that role is mind boggling. Everyone loves working with him. There a bunch of bitter people who hate that he's winning. It's like they couldn't stop with trying to tear down Ayo and are out for blood.

40 LOOKS DAMN GOOD
I saw this on Twitter and thought it'd be fun to do here as a mini celebration. Interaction has been so dead on here for everyone, it'd be fun to liven it back up! Everyone feel free to play along!
Favorite Movie(s)
The Last Duel! I love that movie. Blackkklansman is the runner up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually don't care for most of his other movies at all in terms of the movie itself. 65, The Report, and Logan Lucky were decent, but definitely second tier.
Favorite Character(s)
Jacques, Flip, and Mills
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Favorite Co-Star(s)
Ben Affleck blows absolutely everyone else out of the water! "Come In! Take your pants off!"
Bill Murray and John David Washington are runners up, and I loved Jeremy Irons in Gucci.
Favorite Love Interest(s)
None so far! Rey and Hanna are my absolute least favorites. I hate them, honestly. Jodie Cromer was my favorite female lead in one of his movies. Lady Gaga and Marion Cottilard were alright too. I like Scarlett Johannson the best as a stand alone actress, but I hated her character in Marriage Story. I anticipate liking Aubrey Plaza
Favorite Scene(s)
Jousting and kicking ass are hard to beat!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Favorite Sex Scene(s)
All the scenes from Last Duel! I don't care how offensive that is!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene from The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.

Girls seasons 5 and 6 were hard to beat. The couch scene in season 5 is pretty nice.
Favorite SNL Skit(s)
Slow for obvious reasons.

Dream Role(s)
I got a Knight with Jacques and an Action Hero with Mills, both of which were high on my list. I'd love to see him as a Vampire, a Dark Victorian Gentleman, an Old West Gunfighter, an Adventurer, and a John Wick style Hitman or Action Hero.
Oh, and he needs to be his actual age and not have goddamn face prosthetics, altered hairlines, or terrible fucking haircuts!

Dream Co-Star(s)
Love Interests: Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Margot Robbie, Ana De Armas, and Lily Rose Depp for size kink purposes.
Co-Stars: Another hot guy like Goran Visnjic or Gerard Butler. Keanu Reeves would also be a blast.
Directors: Ridley Scott (again), Clint Eastwood, Tim Burton, Robert Eggars, Quentin Tarantino.
