Delta Vega: Meltdown on the Ice Planet
Original Release: 2009
Developer: Esurance
Publisher: Esurance
Platform: Browser
Not played: Flash file can’t be found online.
Tumblr media
In the advertising campaign for the Star Trek 2009 movie, advertising partners were sought to promote the film. One of them was Esurance, an American insurance company. They produced a flash game starring their mascot, Erin Esurance, called Delta Vega: Meltdown on the Ice Planet.
In the game, you shot your way though five levels of enemies (which consisted of random creatures) in order to rescue Keenser from the outpost we see from the film.
Unfortunately, I can’t find the game itself, and there aren’t even many screenshots of it.

like the other thing is like. jim fucking loves his brother okay. jim LOVES his brother. they couldn’t let him dwell on it in operation annihilate bc plot reasons and they couldn’t let him dwell on it AFTER for any number of 60s TV Reasons but. jim loves his brother. him coming to a complete stop when la’an says she knows him. “sam’s alive???” like. he is willing to help her restore her timeline because there is a version of his brother that is there and he’s alive and he has friends and he tells them stories about his little brother jim. and so later when it all comes down to the end it’s okay. “say hi to sam for me...” because it’s okay. la’an will fix the timeline and everything will be set right and she’ll be back to the time where everything is okay, where sam is, and sam is okay.

Your name is JJ Abrams. You are going to make a movie titled "Star [thing]". You make a pretty fun, if kinda shallow action movie with a few neat ideas and some really excellently-chosen actors, but also unnecessarily blow up a planet or two and add a couple of other questionable worldbuilding decisions that will negatively impact the franchise down the road. But overall, it is too well-directed and enjoyable a movie for most people to really be mad at in the long run.
A few years later, you decide to follow it up with the cinematic equivalent of a crime against humanity, that relies on mindless nostalgia and expanding on the prior-mentioned kinda bad decisions from the first movie, to just wind up doing unbelievable damage to the franchise you love, setting the tone for a bunch of high-budget but varying-quality television followups.
Also somewhere in there will be another film connected to these two, by a different director than you, that will take the good elements of your first film and expand on those instead while excising the bad, and generally bring enough good energy to mostly (if unfortunately not entirely) offset the damage your second one did.
Am I talking about Star Trek or Star Wars? Yes.

Realizing that in the universe Pike doesn't get injured, Spock would never end up in the Kelvin universe. So Pike not having his accident could destroy multiple universes and I'm going feral thinking about this
