"How could I? I didn't have my phone?" the girl asked slightly panicked,.
"That's because you had mine," Lando spoke up, tapping on his phone, "You logged into your account from mine," he said showing it to the girl.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU STOP ME?" She yelled.
"BECAUSE YOU GUYS KEPT RUNNING ONTO THE FUCKING ROAD AND LOGAN AND ARTHUR COSPLAYED SPIDER-MAN" He yelled back.
"Okay, okay," Max put his hands up to calm the two down, sometimes they were so similar he'd want to ask if Lando had a twin separated at birth, "Lando, what did she post?"
"oh oooh, this going to be fun," the boy said, switching to the girl's profile.

"Well, that wasn't as bad," y/n shrugged.
"That's cause you didn't have your camera roll," Logan snapped back, finally feeling a little more human, the hangover easing down.
"Look who's talking," the Aussie came to y/n's defence, "You're lucky you didn't have YOUR phone," Oscar called out, making the American's face turn red.
"Damnnn Oscar!" The girl praised, colour returning to his face, all were slowly returning to normal, even Arthur had found his way back to the table. Seeing this, the two older men Max and Charles ordered for the table, while Lando, went through more of Y/n's Instagram with the group.
"Honestly, the response isn't that bad, and our PR officers won't murder us, sooo we're good," he said, smiling and logging out of her Instagram account.
"Oh my god," The Monganeseque boy spoke up after being missing for almost half an hour, " I don't think we ate last night," he said shoving the food in his mouth.
The older men expected one of the other three to corroborate the boy's words but they just witnessed four twenty-somethings guzzling down food and large glasses of OJ, lifting plates to slide food into their mouths, letting runny egg yolks and bacon grease getting over their face and hands.
"Fucking hell," Max snarled, "it's like watching animal planet or something,"
"It's disgusting is what it is," Charles agreed, "MERDE ARTHUR, MAMAN RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THIS!" He yelled at his brother who was currently dipping a rolled up pancake in orange juice.
"Oh mate that's fucking disgusting," Y/n scoffed but then followed suit.
"Both of you are insane," Logan cried out, his accent thick, but failed to notice his own disgusting plate, dipping his bacon in maple syrup.
"ugh, there is something mentally deficient with all of you," Oscar frowned.
"Big words for someone mixing coffee into their oj," Lando cringed, taking a photo of the four and their disgusting eating habits.
"I- I can't look at this, I'm leaving," Charles gave up, holding up his hands in surrender, "I have a meeting at Ferrari anyways,"
"Bye, Charles!" the table chorused.
"Oh shit, it's 11am already?" Max called, looking at his watch, "I've got debrief at noon, see you next race, yeah Y/n?" He patted the girl's shoulder as he left.
"Never, again, ever." She yelled out, behind the man, making him laugh.
"Wait really?" The American looked over, bacon in hand.
"Nah, but like I've got uni and stuff and I've been going Arthurs races as well so, I'll probably be back by Britain or Netherlands," she explained.
"Oh yeah I forgot you still go to uni," Lando said.
"Not all of are millionaires cause of our fast vroom vroom cars," she spit back.
"yeah, yeah, " he waved off, "Oscar, Zak's told me to babysit you till our flight tomorrow so you don't do something or someone," he wriggled his brows, smirking at his teammate, making him roll his eyes, "you regret, so let's go and leave that disgusting abomination here," he said pointing to the coffee-orange juice.
"Guy's I don't know about y'all but I'm going go and pass out in the room till next year," The girl said, pushing away from the table.
"Same," The two boys followed.

“Na’vi Can’t Be With Humans”
Tumblr media
Lo’akxFem!Human!Reader
This is a longer one
Index: the reader and lo’ak have been bestfriends for years and soon grew feelings for each other but Neytiri doesn't want her son to be with a human
warning/notes: cussing, near death experience, somewhat jealous Lo'ak, angst (if you blink you’ll miss it), not proof read, the war between humans and Na’vi is still going on, in the first part Lo’ak and reader are 15, when the year time skip comes read and Lo’ak are 16, Tsireya is one of my favorite characters but for this story she might be a bitch, i picture y/n as black in all my story’s but i don’t mention skin color nor hair type etc but in this her hair is curly (3b-3c)

You’ve been on pandora since you could remember you were born here along with Spider, but the difference was you were curious about life on earth both your parents were scientist and worked on making you an avatar to just survive around here and it was fully mature when you were the age of 12 even though you were 15 your parents wanted to run a few tests on it before you used it, so your mother gave you her music player that you could take with you anywhere.
It had many songs on it, and you would listen to it all the time. Lo'ak who was your best friend was interested in the music that would play.
Neytiri wasn't very happy about this let alone the fact Lo'ak was friends with you, but Jake brushed it off for he was also human at one point.
As a human girl you weren't that tall compared to the Na'vi only standing at 5'8 the same height at Tuk which you hated mainly because she was 8 years old, and you were 15 years old.
One morning you woke up and grabbed your music player from off the table and started listening to "kill bill" by SZA sining the song as you got dressed for the day unlike Spider you actually got somewhat dressed you walked out your room with your music player and headed outside saying good morning to your parents who were looking over things with your avatar "Heading out" you say as you walk pass them "Mask" your father yelled "Got it" you said as you grabbed the mask and put it on your face walking out the door.
you seen Spider running past you "Bet ill be you there first" you rolled your eyes "Unlike you im in no rush to get there" you say slightly annoyed he would even talk to you you started to ignore him which made him annoyed and just leave you alone.
Finally, after a few minutes you made it to where the Sully kids were Neteyam looked over and noticed you and smiled and walked up to you and hugged you "Hey Tey" you said smiling Lo'ak looked over hearing your voice and a sight pain hit his heart as he watched you hug Neteyam.
You walked over to him and sat next to him he pouted you rolled your eyes smiling "Oh my what is it this time" you crossed his arms and turned his head away from you kind of like a baby who doesn't get what they wanted "Im offended you hugged Neteyam before me" you looked at him with disbelief and started laughing "This is what its about," you continued to laugh he only glared at you "Lo'ak i apologize i hugged Tey before you even if he greeted me before you" you said sarcastically before hugging him dramatically before jumping up and turning to your group of friends "Who want to go swimming?" Everyone nodded and headed to the river.
it was starting to get late the sun was almost setting and you and kiri were talking on a rock about random things, and laughing while watching everyone play in the water you looked at Kiri and asked her “What would i do if i liked someone…you know more than a friend” she looked at you wide eyed.
Lo’ak had looked over at the sound of your laugh and only heard little bit of the conversation “What would i do if i liked someone… you know more than a friend” he didn’t know why but your words hurt him his energy was off the rest of the day and he just headed back home before it got to late and he didn’t tell you goodbye you weren’t the only on who noticed this Kiri noticed too.
You all went back to the mountains where the Na’vi stayed Kiri told Jake she would be walking you back home since it would eclipse “Bye Lo’ak, bye Neteyam” Neteyam waved bye but Lo’ak just ignored you making you stare at him in confusion.
As you and Kiri walked you were thinking about how Lo’ak was acting “What’s wrong?” you looked at her “I’m just thinking about how Lo’ak was acting back at home” you look away from her and at the path ahead of you both “Well, i mean Lo’ak likes you and we all know that you like him back and maybe he heard some of our conversation and took it as you liked someone else” you looked at her slightly guilty “I hope not…I would feel terrible.”
Kiri and you arrived at your home you turned to her and hugged her “Thanks for the talk love you bye” she smiled “No problem love you too bye” she waved as she walked back towards her home as you shut the door behind you.
Your parents looked at you with warm smiles but their expressions changed after seeing your face your mom was the first to speak “You okay baby?” you nodded and took the mask off hanging it up where it’s meant to and walked to your room.
Your parents were left there confused after a few minutes and getting ready for bed and everything you came back to your room and laid under the blankets just sitting alone with your thoughts until your bedroom door opened and you looked up.
“Oh hi momma” you sat up in your bed your back resting against the head board looking at her “What’s wrong?” “Noth-“ she cut you off before you could finish talking “And don’t say nothing your a shitty lier” you sighed “Tell me what happened”
You told her everything and for a moment it was quiet “Look here’s what i’d tell you to do talk him one on one, no friends, no eavesdroppers, just you and him then tell him about how you feel and shit” you laughed at her words “Maybe” “Love ya” “Love you too” she headed for the door and was about to close it then stopped turning around “Oh yea your avatars almost fully matured” you smiled “Hell yea.”
The next night you told Kiri about your plan and went and found Lo’ak dragging him along with you “Bro hurry up” he laughed at you sprinting ahead of him “Hey! don’t fall your mask might break” he said his voice full of worry as you ran, even if he’s not the one you like he couldn’t bring himself to stop caring for you.
You came to a stop at the top of a tree overlooking some of Pandora “Shit” Lo’ak said as he stopped almost running into you grabbing you by your shoulders to keep you both steady.
You laughed at his face but didn’t ignore the fact his energy was still off your turned away from him and sat down allowing your legs to hang off the tree edge, staring at the world in front of you the world looked as if it was almost fake, it was dark but the bioluminescence forest lit up the night, the moon hung over Pandora like a blanket, you could hear animals running around and making noises, and the air smelled like fresh grass and free soil the smell relaxed you.
You stared at the world in front of you. There was a comfortable silence between the both of you for sometime Lo’ak broke it with his voice to “So why’d you bring me out here” you looked at him having to think of your words “Well i want to tell you something I-“ Lo’ak cut you off “Y/n i’m happy for you really i’m glad you found someone” you looked at him confused “I’m sorry what,” you then started to laugh “your joking right, please tell me your joking.”
You noticed he was being serious, and your laughing stopped as you sighed and looked at him "Lo'ak who do you think i like?" He looked out at Pandora "Neteyam" you burst out laughing "Fuck no i do not like Neteyam" he looked at you shocked "What do you mean" you looked at him "Holy shit Lo’ak your slow are you gonna make me do something to get it threw your head.”
“What-“ before he could finish you kissed him Lo’ak’s eyes widened his heart rate increased he relaxed and melted into the kiss, the two of you broke apart you then hugged him just sitting there looking at pandora.
“Lo’ak” Neytiri was looking for her son because it was past eclipse the sight she saw was one she never wanted to see again her son was kissing the human girl she had never wanted around he eyes widened and she ran over to the two of you ripping you apart she hissed at you causing you to stand up and get as far away as you could “Mo-“ Neytiri looked at her son the anger in her eyes causing his words to get caught in his throat “I don’t want you around my son nor my family do i make myself clear” she said anger lacing her words you only nodded and headed back to your humble abode.
That night you laid in bed you couldn’t tell if you were mad or sad, you really didn’t feel anything besides the tears pooling down your face you were mainly just confused as to how Spider can still hangout with them even with all the shit going on between him and Kiri that’s what you were mad and sad because you no longer could you ended up just watching Nexflix on your tablet since your parents still had a connection from earth you could watch movies here so that what you did.
Lo’ak was angry at dinner Neytiri seemed to think she did a good job as a mother telling Y/n she didn’t want her around her kids she had yet to tell Jake of this Lo’am was to angry to be hungry.
Jake noticed “What’s wrong Lo’ak” all the anger that had built up exploded out of him “Mom told Y/n she doesn’t want her around me or any of us she thinks Y/n’s just like the other people, even though you were a human too the only difference was you went into your avatars body so i don’t fucking understand what the difference is between you and Y/n you had a avatar to put your soul in while Y/n doesn’t THATS the only fucking difference she’s still a human and so is dad with or without his Na’vi body and not even you,” Lo’ak pointed to his mom “can deny that you still choose to save him in his human form so before you say anything about Y/n think about how hypocritical your being!” with that he stood up and stomped out of the hut and grabbed his Ikran and flew away.
Jake looked at Neytiri a anger she’s never seen before in his eyes “Neteyam, Kiri take Tuk outside and do something i need to have a talk with your mother” they nodded and headed outside.
“What’s wrong with you” she looked offended “Me ?! Y/n’s kind killed my father, my sister, ruined my home, her and Lo’ak kissed and you ask me what wrong with me” Jake sighs “Me and her father are close He’s like my brother Y/n is like my niece and for you to just push her away and forbid her from seeing our children is bullshit, Tuk loves her like a sister, you have no right to do that Neytiri.”
Lo’ak flew to the lab you lived at and landed his Ikran and crept to your window he peaked inside the room seeing you laying there watching people moving on your screen he recalled you had called it Netflix’ whatever that is he noticed your tear stained face, your red nose, and puffy eyes as if you’ve been crying your whole life made his ears press flat against his head and his his expression change to that of sadness, sadness because he knew it was his mom who said those hurtful things to you, sadness because he knew he couldn’t disobey his mom and be with a human.
Lo’ak hated that word human what was the point of that word honestly every human he’s seen looked the same besides skin color, hair color, hair texture, and gender but they all had hair, five fingers like himself, without tails, and weren’t blue, Na’vi have the same thing most are blue or some shade of blue, have four fingers, no hair besides their head and ends of their tails.
Lo’ak knew his dad was once human which is why he was angry when his mom yelled at you to never come back, means no more hanging out with him, no more making flower crowns with Tuk or telling her stories, no more making fun of Neteyam with him, no more annoying kiri, nothing at all just how it was before he met you, the thought made his sick to his stomach.
Ears still flat against his head and nervousness flooded his body and mind he hesitantly knocked on your window waiting for you to notice him, when you finally did you’re glum expression changed to one of happiness as you paused your show and climbed across your bed to the window to open it you had no idea why he went to your window when your parents always allow him over no matter the time but still you opened the window and allowed him to clime inside his tail bumping your vines and tabistrys hanging off your wall and ceiling.
“Lo’ak watch the tail” he looked confused then noticed he had pulled down a vine and was now wrapped around his tail you helped him get out of the vine before sitting back down in the bed and covering yourself up allowing your body to claim back its warmth.
Lo’ak sits on the edge of your bed not knowing where to start you just watch him waiting for him to do something as your waiting your mom walks in the room and stops before she’s all the way in “Lo’ak when’d you get here, why didn’t you just use the door?,” she laughs slightly “anyways Y/n your avatar will be read to be taken out next week” she said a large smile on her face and shut the door and walked back down the hall, which made you smile.
Lo’ak looked confused “What’s an avatar?” you laughed slightly “It’s my Na’vi body, that looks like me, it just has some human things to it like you” you said smiling before everything was quiet again.
“I’m sorry” you looked confused “for what?” his ears were now flat against his head while his face showed sadness “My mom…” you smiled sadly at him “It’s okay, you’ve got nothing to do with it, but you shouldn’t come around here anymore since i don’t want you to get into anymore trouble” you weren’t sure if it was possible but his ears laid even flatter against his head sad by what you said but he knew it was true.
“We can watch Netflix, listen to music before you go?” he smiled it made him happy you still wanted him around you just didn’t want to get him in trouble, the two of you cuddled the rest of the night watching a show until it was time for him to leave.
“Bye Lo’ak.”
It had been a year since the last time you or Lo’ak seen each other, you had somewhat gotten over the fact Neytiri had forbid you from seeing Lo’ak and the rest of them, you’ve gotten used to fact Neytiri forbid you from seeing Lo’ak and the rest of them, you’ve gotten used to using your avatar along side your parents, even joining them in the lab and doing experiments which you loved, celebrating your 16th birthday, you missed Lo’ak with your whole soul but what were you to do.
Lo’ak on the other hand hated he hadn’t seen you, his family had to leave to find a place to protect them and the people, him and his family went to the Metkayina a few months before, but then Kiri had a seizure and Jake contacted Norm and Max to come see what was wrong.
“Uncle Norm, uncle Max where are we going?” you asked as you were packing your things “Something happened so hurry and meet us at the helicopter” uncle Max said before him and Norm walked out the lab.
You had gotten the rest of your stuff around and walked out heading for the helicopter. You were interested in knowing where you were going but your uncles would tell you anything, Max was your biological uncle because of your mom while Norm was kinda just a close friend of your dad.
You sat there looking at the landscape in-front of you “Holy shit!” you laughed with a smile your Uncle Max smiled at your reaction “Language” he said “Please you were smiling at me” you said rolling your eyes.
This was your first time seeing the ocean and the animals jumping out of it “This is amazing” you said while smiling.
Soon you had landed when you hopped out many pale-ish blue Na’vi were staring at you whispers coming from each of them things like “Her hairs curly like ours but with more noticeable curls” etc. you get it, you walked past then and seen Jake you ran to him and hugged him he gladly hugged you back “Hey kid” he said laughing you let him go forgetting how tall Na’vi are Max and Norm walked up to him “Where is she?” Jake nodded and led them through the village to their marui your eyes widened at the sight “Holy shit, what the hell is wrong with my friend!” you say to Jake “Take it easy, we don’t know” you sigh “I’ll take some scans” Max and Norm nodded.
You scanned her body “So Jake what happened?” Jake had to recall what happened “The kids said she connected her queue to the tree the Metkayina people have her similar to the tree of souls and she just passed out” you look closely “She had a seizure, but it shows nothing wrong with her, her brain work seems perfect, you can let her do it again” Jakes eyes widened “What never??” you sighed standing up “If she does this again and has a seizure under water, she may not survive this time she was lucky.”
Ronal walks in and looks at you and your uncles “It seems i am not needed here” she turns to walk away Neytiri says something to her before your all kicked out Max and Norm are ready to go as they walk back to the helicopter and seen Neteyam and hugged him smiling “Holy shit- Y/n, i’ve missed you” he said hugging you back disbelief in his voice “i gotta go catch up with my Uncles ill see you later” you jogged off catching up with the two grown men “We aren’t leaving yet, not until i know Kiri is gonna be okay” They looked at each other knowing you weren’t gonna let this one slide “Fine” they both said you put your stuff in the helicopter and grabbed your music player and a hair tie you put your hair into a makeshift bun just so it could hold your curls securely and put the headphones on and walked along the beach.
You thought about life a year ago, how you missed Lo’ak, but now you’ve changed within that year gap of not seeing him, you’ve matured a bit more and acted somewhat differently, you didn’t take that many adventures around Pandora anymore, you worked in the lab with your parents and other scientists, became less naive, became more closed off in a way, kept to yourself, got a hell of a lot stronger, you wondered what Lo’ak would think of you now it was eating you alive thinking of all the possibilities.
What if he found a mate.
What if he doesn’t like the person you’ve become.
What if he forgot about you.
No, Lo’ak couldn’t have forgotten about you, but then again where was he you only seen Neteyam, Lo’ak was no where to be found you sighed and dipped you feet into the water allowing yourself to relax and breath.
Soon your thoughts were interrupted by laughing this caught your attention so you walked over your eyes widened seeing Lo’ak with another girl it kinda hurt you knowing he probably moved on from you, but it hurt knowing he made a friendship like your and his with someone else.
You turned to walk away leaving you in your thoughts once again with tears rolling down your face and your curls sticking to the tear trail, before you were pulled out your thoughts ones again “Hey! who are you come back here!” the person yelled based off the voice it was Lo’aks just slightly deeper.
You started to walk faster your face already cleared of tears your only focus was getting as far away from here as you could.
A hand landed on your shoulder to your shock without thinking you grabbed the arm twisted it and pulled it forward flipping the person onto the ground then landing with a thud you eyes widened “Shit i’m sorry” you say quickly before helping the person up.
“It’s all good” the person said brushing the sand out their hair you were very short compared to the Na’vi in front of you “You sure? I did kinda just flip you onto your back” you nervously laugh the Na’vi looks at you then their eyes widen with shock.
Lo’ak and Tsireya were laughing in the water, oh how he wished he was laughing with Y/n.
Lo’ak longed for Y/n everyday since the last time he saw her but when he started to hang out with tsireya the more he longed.That was until he noticed a small human looking figure walking away from the beach where they were “Lo’ak someone’s watching us” reya pointed to the fleeing figure making Lo’ak go after them and end up where he was now in front of the person that flipped him onto his back.
You stood there not sure if he recognized you, the other Na’vi walks up to Lo’ak and rest her hands on his arms giving you a bitchy look you roll your eyes not caring she was taller than you.
The girl looked at you as she held Lo’ak tightly against her “If you don’t mind we’re hanging out at the moment” you rolled your eyes “Yup, my bad” you said moving your body past Lo’aks.
The pair watched you leave Lo’ak thinking you looked and sounded familiar but he didn’t have much time to think about it since reya pulled him along with her Lo’ak kept watching your figure that was until he heard Tuk scream a name he hasn’t heard in years.
“Y/n!!!.”
Lo’aks eyes widened and he ripped his arm from reyas “Lo’ak?” she asked confused “Not right now Reya” Lo’ak ran until he caught sight of the you.
“Hey Tuk” you said looking at her “You’ve gotten shorter” Tuk laughed “Oh? maybe it’s because you’ve gotten taller-“ your words were cut off as you hit the ground “I missed you so so much” you looked down it was Lo’ak he had his arms wrapped around your waist while tears streamed down his face “I missed you too Lo’ak” you said kissing the top of his head over and over again.
When Neytiri seen you a Lo’ak hanging out she hated it, Jake on the other hand was happy to see his son so happy.
Tsireya on the other hand was not so much she blamed you for taking Lo’ak away from her even though it had only been a few months she knew she wanted to mate with him, you were extremely nice to her wanting to get to know her after Lo’ak introduced the two of you, when meeting her you could tell she hated you but you stayed being nice no matter what.
You and Lo’ak spent time together all the time from morning to night, when Kiri finally woke up it was time to leave.
Lo’ak greeted you that morning only to find out you had to leave “You leaving already?!” you smiled sadly “Lo’ak you know i can’t stay here even when if wanted to i couldn’t there no place for a human here” you said looking around eyes settling on Tsireya knowing she would be happier if you left “But when would i see you again?!” you smiled sadly “I’m not sure Lo’ak, but i can promise it’ll be very soon.”
You hugged Lo’ak he hugged you back just as tightly his tail wrapping around your human figure, Tsireya felt a growl in her throat as she watched.
You and Lo’ak parted ways once you’re feet hit the helicopter floor but you knew you’d be seeing him sooner than you thought.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 1610! Miles morales x reader
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ hc of playing acnh with miles bc I miss playing it
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ gag worthy fluff tbh, I need me a bf like miles
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ header by pastelwalks
Tumblr media
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ tbh he probably played before u two had gotten together but let’s pretend he didn’t rn
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ miles most definitely questions everything about the game
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷”why are we the only human??” “Why is the place being ran by a racoon?” “Who is this random otter in the ocean??”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷miles shaking trees and getting stung by wasp. After you told him that a villager can give him medicine he went up to one and they called him ugly LMFAO.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ I feel as if miles wouldn’t be picky when it comes to villagers, he loves all of them
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ skips all of blathers dialogue. “He talks to much” 😭
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷but because of blathers he remembers so many facts about dinosaurs, bugs and fish. He even recites them if he see it in public
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ “that’s a paper kite butterfly” “ I don’t now wether to write on it, fly it or spread it on toast”
“…what..”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ He isn’t really into the whole “selling villagers thing” and when he finds out you put your villagers up for sale on discord he judges so hard😭😭
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ “wdym your putting Moe up for sale???” “Miles he’s a ugly version of Tom, I don’t like him” “but FOR SALE??? That’s sounds like human trafficking”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ I feel like the villagers miles would like would be Dobie and Joey, don’t ask why they’re just adorable.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ now back to the actual game, miles would have BEEF with Tom nook (just like the rest of us)
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷” baby why do I have to pay a phone bill fee, he OFFERED the phone to me”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷imagine the first time he shoots down a ballon and it goes in the water LMFAO
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ when he has to build the nooks cranny alone, he would be so shocked at the amount of material he needs
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷”30?? 30 iron nuggets?? How am I supposed to get 30 iron nuggets if the rock only gives me two???”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ you start to treat him like he’s your sugar baby, giving him iron, regular wood (bc that shit is hard to get for no reason), flowers,literally anything
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷”hey baby, why’d you want to come to my island?? What are you dropping?? Is that MONEY, WHY ARE YOU DROPPING THOUSANDS OF BELLS??”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ he always says he’s gonna pay u back but you decline ofc
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ miles gets mad when he gets a sea bass for the 90th time so you offer for him to fish on your island only for him to get another see bass
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷” I got ANOTHER SEA BASS? If I hear this joke one more time I’ll start crying. “Baby here you try” *you pull a sunfish* *angry stare in disbelief*
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ he gets a little aggressive with Isabelle when she is trying to help the island get up to 3 stars and he keeps getting told “plant more flowers”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ now he gets 3 stars right, he’s fucking EXCITED like it took so long and he finally got it
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ miles fav k.k songs are kk crusin, kk surfin and kk western.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ I don’t think he has a theme going on, just kinda goes w the flow but loves watch island tours on YouTube
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷miles coming over to your island just to see you beating the hell out of a villager with your net and calling them names
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷”mi vida…. Why are you torturing them?..” “I want him to leave”

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷” Amor??? Your island is so good, what?? How long did this even take?, you’re so talented I swear” “uhhhh haha it’s not that good” “ baby it’s AMAZING”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ acnh dates where Celeste is at your island and you both make wishes
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ “you know… my only wish is to be with you forever” “miles, you are so corny….I love you” “I love you to mi alma”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ spending the holidays together in acnh, like him wrapping up a gift for you during Christmas and you both exchanging them 😭😭 adorable
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ telling miles all of your island drama bc he swears yours is more entertaining
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ “omg baby, literally Raymond and Judy got into a fight the other day arguing about who’s better looking and Raymond said it was obviously him, so he was basically calling Judy ugly. THEN they had the audacity to ask me who looked better. “Whatttttt😮”
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ he loves the game truly, he plays with you whenever you ask. He just got out the shower but you wanna play? let him hurry and put clothes on and he’s yours. Just got done patrolling after a long day but you wanna play? How could ever deny you with a face like yours?
Tumblr media
I literally love this sm, I might have to make another one with 42!miles and another with the twins 🤔🤔🤔 let me know if y’all want that bc I’ll have it done,

September 26 1992
the year it all changed for bill denbrough the 16 year old Derry baseball player things had always been a bit bad for bill after 1989 the year he lost his brother, Georgie. Sure he tried to get thru it or forgot about it but is that something you can really forgot about?
“so quarry after school with all of us right bill?” Bills best friend and so called wingman? Stanley said leaning on his locker in the derry highschool halls.
“yeah o-of course s-stan ill be th-there not something id m-miss you k-k-know?” Bill blurted out as best as he could with his stutter in the way at least. Stanley nodded saying his goodbyes to bill and walking off to his next class. Bill sighed closing his locker and tugging his backpack over his shoulder his legs moving him thru the halls to whatever stupid class he didn’t want to be at. All he needed to do was get thru 1 more class before he could go to the quarry with the only people he really had a personal care for.
reaching his class he went to his seat near the back where he could scout the entire class like a hawk. Bill took out the health book his teacher had been nagging about all month for a coming up project they had to do on the human body.
Students filled the class and took their seats in their respective seats. Bill didn’t bother to care about who was who he didn’t have any of the losers or his baseball team in this class but he did have someone he… admired.
Y/n l/n, it’s not like he stalked her but he did have all his classes with her so it was a bit hard to miss her especially when she was on the soccer team and played violin for the school strings class but everyone knew that didn’t they?
bill looked up seeing her walk in going to her seat in the row next to him his seat across from hers .he straightened his posture a bit glancing at her quickly before he heard the bell ring and the teacher talking
Tumblr media
The bell rang signaling the end of class. Bill looked up from his book before closing it and putting it in his backpack packed with books for his other classes but a soda and chip bag lingered in it for after school.
bill took a quick glance at you who was tieing your hair in a ponytail. He quickly got out of his seat and left class to find Stan waiting in the hall with Eddie. One of there other mutual friends, Stan noticed bill and smiled “ hey bill the others are waiting at the front you ready?” Stan asked looking at bill with a smirk as he saw you walk out the class “o-oh okay l-let’s go t-t-then
Eddie jumped Into their talk as they walked thru the halls “ I heard the quarry had some animals in it like fish you know? What if they have parasites or are carrying something I don’t wanna die I mean what if I get something my mom would kill y-“
Eddie had been cut off by a hand on his shoulder “ don’t be a pussy!we’ve gone for years and how the hell would fish get in the quarry? And I thought you were the smart one you have some competition now Eddie!” Richie stated jumping on Eddie backpack to make him mad.
Stan looked at Richie confused “ how the hell did you even get here Richie?” Richie chirped up “ you could say I’m like a superhero”
bill laughed at his comment “ S-sure r-rich a sup-super hero..”
Tumblr media
Bill and everyone eventually got together in front of school and rod their bikes to the quarry they had gone to for years. Some memories good some bad but no matter what it was their spot. The losers spot.
Everyone got off their bikes and Ben put down his bag holding a few snacks from a grab n go near by everyone took off their shoes and clothes they didn’t wanna get wet
Richie screamed
“Last one in the water has to give me 50 bucks!!”
before running onto the tip of the cliff they always had jumped off of to reach the water. His friends followed running and laughing into the water before splashing in.
once everyone came up Eddie had followed being last he frowned but smiled after a second
“ well damn eddie…. Looks like you owe me some money..” he said fakely sentimental
“ rich I’m not giving you shit asshole” eddie laughed back
everyone laughed at Eddie’s remark before mike said “ rich Eddie’s mom wouldn’t even let him near ten dollars let alone 50!”
Everyone laughed even eddie. Maybe 13 year old him would defend her thinking she would know about the awful things Richie has said about her. But 16 year old Eddie know knew his mom was a manipulative piece of shit. Maybe Richie wasn’t exactly the best example to someone like Eddie but god was he happy to have him no matter what, even for helping him realize that.
Richie snickered “ well eddie pay me thru candy or something” eddie fake laughed “ oh please my mom doesn’t let me near that either” Eddie said running his hands thru his hair. Everyone erupted into laughs
Beverly pirched up next to Ben “ Richie it’s not like anyone would pay you you’d probably spend it in the arcade” she said with sarcasm
Richie gasped offfended “ oh please! The arcade is totally a good place to spend my summer! Not like theirs another way that’s any better” he said dragging out the last two words”
Tumblr media
After a few hours everyone had got out the water and was resting and talking on some rocks near the water bill was sitting on a rock when Richie said “ alright, this Is getting boring let’s go play tag or something”
everyone nodded agreeing putting their foot in a circle Richie bent down and started reciting “ catch a tiger by a toe” leading to Eddie being the Seeker “ why am I the seeker?” Eddie said disappointed “ because you got picked fair and square germ boy” Beverly said laughing before Eddie sighed and counted hiding his face with his palms as everyone ran bill went south a direction Eddie wouldn’t want to go in because of poison ivy.
Bill ran to a close circle of trees and huddled inside out of breath he sat down on the leaves “this should be fine” he muttered closing his eyes trying to get a steady breath. Bill felt as if the world had gone silent in that moment all he could hear was the water of the quarry and the sound of leaves rustling in the wind he softly put his head against the tree and sighed contently before he jolted his body opening his eyes and slightly lifting off the ground tense at the feeling of pain in his hand
“shit!” Bill whispered hissing at the pain in his hand when he looked down he saw two small circles next to each other almost small dots even like fangs of a spider, bill liked around him hearing leaves softly crunch at whatever had bit him was moving away bill sighed rubbing his hand he knew he should probably stop playing and tell his friends in the case that the bite could be dangerous
Bill stood up holding his hand against a tree for support but when he tried to walk away to go back to his friends he was pulled back against the tree he tried to move again but it wouldn’t budge he was confused “maybe it had sap on the tree? He thought but looking at his hand he could tell the tree was completely dry with no sap
He was scared but he tried to stay calm closing his eyes he sighed trying to calm down his nerves he slowly opened one eye before lifting his hand off the tree he was shocked it worked “okay…” he whispered wiping his hands on his shirt he rolled his eyes walking back towards the quarry
bill continued walking to the quarry thinking about what had happened a spider? I mean it was just a spider righ

Want for Nothing: Deleted Scene (Joint Accounts - 1.3k)
So, part of the problem with being a discovery writer is that I have a good 20k of deleted scenes for Want for Nothing. Most of them are nothing special, but some I can’t quite let go of, even though they don’t work anymore — this is one of them.
It’s set in Chapter 3 (4 by ao3 logic) “Tabloid Junkie” and basically has Tony/Peter confronting their new financial dynamic head-on. It got cut because 1/ Peter was going through enough in that chapter, 2/ they were both just… not in the right place to talk about it without it devolving into an argument. It’s unfinished in that respect, because I was just not up to writing whatever new hell they were going to invent.
The bed was cold when Peter woke the next morning.
Cold, but not empty.
A pile of bank documents lay on top of Tony’s pillow. No note attached – unless several post-its with the words "sign here" counted.
Peter read over the documents alone in his multi-million dollar apartment with the blinds down. Signing would make him a co-owner of Tony's accounts. The balance wasn't listed, but behind the ownership documents were sign-offs for new unlimited lines of credit in Peter's name.
Peter hadn't even known there was such a thing as unlimited credit.
He called Tony.
"Hear me out," Tony said as soon as the call connected. "This is just like May’s medical bills."
"How?"
"Your Aunt's old boss screwed her out of what she'd worked for, so I fixed the damage. This is me doing the same for you."
"But I’m fine. I’m–"
“NYU is pulling your scholarship.”
The words hit Peter like a punch to the gut. His vision blurred and he felt the blood run from his brain. He sat down, hard, on a kitchen stool. Tony was still talking to him, but the words were indistinguishable. Completely obscured by the white noise of panic running through him.
His scholarship.
The one he’d spent years fighting for, pulling weeks of all-nighters to ensure he stayed in the city’s top percentile. Padding his resume with debate team and volunteer work, on top of his jobs and Spider-Man. His scholarship. The one he and May had cried over, together, when it had come through. The one that had been set to get him through college, miraculously, with ‘only’ 20 grand of student debt.
Gone.
“–but you told me to tell you before I pull shit. So I put the foundation on hold, and figured we could just pay this all out of pocket. Out of your pocket, if you’ll let me–”
“Wait, what?”
Tony was silent for a beat. “You missed everything I said, huh?”
“I… what?”
Tony let out a sad sigh, and Peter desperately wished they were having this conversation in person.
“The scholarship is gone, babe.”
“But why… how can they do this?”
“It’s the apartment. It’s legally in your name, and when they… found out about your change of address, they decided to re-evaluate your financial status. You don’t qualify for aid anymore.”
Oh.
“But an apartment doesn’t pay for, like, tuition. Or food. Or just… anything else. I quit my jobs. Just because I’m living here–”
“They don’t see it that way. So, either we fight them, which I’m happy to do, or we just give them money. In this case, I think paying them off is the better option.”
Peter squeezed his eyes shut and tried to swallow back the lump in his throat. He knew Tony was just trying to help but, fuck, if didn’t feel like someone had just pulled the rug out from under him.
“You said something about a foundation?” he said, trying to piece together Tony’s earlier rant.
“I uh-” Tony started, before clearing his throat awkwardly. Peter heard him fidget with something on his desk. “My first thought was to set up a foundation under SI that could just give you a new scholarship.”
“Are you kidding me–”
“But, I remembered you told me to just ask you before I did shit. So, I shelved the scholarship idea and instead I’m asking. This is me asking, okay? Let me do this for you. Let me fix this.”
Peter looked down at the bank documents Tony had provided. It was too much. He couldn’t imagine having total access to Tony’s money; he didn’t want the responsibility that came with that.
“Can’t you just… pay my tuition? And give me something for expenses?”
Tony made no reply for a long moment. Long enough for Peter to feel antsy. Because really, what kind of person said no to a fortune?
“Those documents would give you more security,” Tony said, eventually. “I wouldn’t be able to take away your access without your consent. So if… if things don’t work out, you’ll be able to look out for yourself.”
If things don’t work out?
“Are you breaking up with me?” Peter said instinctively, irrationally.
“Jesus, Peter, no. People don’t hand over billions of dollars as a parting gift. No. Definitely not breaking up with you.”
“Billions?” Peter let out a croak of a laugh. “Right, yeah, of course, right. Sorry.”
“I just– you should have the freedom.”
Peter understood Tony’s motivation, in theory – but he hated it. Because Tony was family, now, and Peter couldn’t imagine a world in which he wouldn’t be. Couldn’t imagine a world in which he’d choose to stop taking Tony’s support. Or in which Tony would stop giving it, even if they stopped dating.
But maybe Tony needed that reassurance. Maybe this wasn’t just about Peter. Maybe this was one of those points of compromise MJ kept talking about.
“Is that… is that ‘freedom’ important for you?”
“Yes,” Tony answered immediately.
Okay. Compromise it is, then.
“Alright, alright,” Peter tried to bring his mind into focus. Tried to think of a way this would work for both of them. “Could you set it up in a way that… I dunno, lets me have access up to a certain limit? And a set time-frame? That way you’ll know I’ll be able to cover tuition and expenses for… well, however long you think.”
“So no limits and forever?”
“Tony–”
“What?" Tony said stubbornly. "That’s what you deserve.”
Peter sighed. “I’m not saying no, Tony. But the idea of being responsible for, like, an infinite amount of money freaks me out. I don’t want to be on the Forbes list or–”
“Those lists are bullshit PR–”
“Well, whatever. You get my point. I get that you want me to have that extra cushion, but I– I’m trying to compromise here. I already trust you to support me — I don’t see why we need to do all this, especially since it will inevitably end up in the Bugle.”
Tony was silent, but for a pen tapping contemplatively.
“Is this a kink thing?” he said
Peter definitely hadn’t seen the conversation going this direction.
“What? A- a what?”
“You know,” Tony said, voice oddly detached and casual. “‘Pay for me, own me, control me.’ Are you trying to tell me you have an ownership kink? That you’re into the whole codependent, power transfer thing?”
“That’s a thing?”
Tony let out a gust of air, and Peter heard more rustling in the background. Peter genuinely has no idea how to continue this conversation.
“Yes. It’s a thing,” Tony said, at last. “Is it your thing?”
“Is it yours?” Peter volleyed back.
“Not necessarily.”
“Okay, well…” Peter still didn’t know what to say. “Ditto?”
Tony was quiet for another long minute. Peter started counting his breaths to keep himself from speaking.
“So,” Tony said eventually. “You want me to control your finances, but not in a kinky way. Honestly, that may be worse.”
Peter sighed. “No,” he said, emphatically. “I don’t want you to control anything. What I want is the scholarship I dedicated years of my life to getting. But, given that’s not an option, I am happy to accept your support – which doesn’t have to mean access to all your money. I love May, and I’d help her with anything, but we still have separate bank accounts. See where I’m going with this?”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah — you want a daddy.” Tony’s voice was hard. Angry.
Peter genuinely wanted to throw his phone out the window. Actually, he could hear it crack slightly under his hand, so he put it down and just let himself breathe.
And breathe.
And breathe.
“Peter?” came Tony’s voice.
Peter finally picked up his phone. “If you were anyone else I would have hung up.”
Edit with my tags (lol making me change my tumblr ways): fwiw Peter still doesn’t know if the money thing is a sex thing for him, bc it is just so intertwined with the way Peter feels Tony’s love for him. Obvs that impacts the sex but not — directly?

Into the spider-verse: Xiomara’s intro
Sum: this is my intro to my au fanfic. Puerto Rico’s Araña-Mujer & it takes place on Earth 906. This starts in Xi’s POV‼️
A/n: The other characters come in later. The story really starts after her intro so this of this rlly as an intro/pt.1 ‼️ In this story Xiomara does end up with Miles G. Morales. HOWEVER, this is being posted as a test to see ‘how good’..this fic is. This is basically a ‘rough draft’ I’ve honestly barely edited this. I have read thru it so hopefully I didn’t miss any BIG errors. I just wanna see if others enjoy this or if maybe I get thrown suggestions. If this does good I’ll possibly continue with this fanfic on here :))
Okay let’s get this started , Hi I’m Xiomara Marina Aguillar . Puerto Rico’s one and only Spider girl. I got bitten by a radio active spider on a school field trip to Oscorp Labs for a career day. My spider bite gave me special venom powers through nails that can temporarily paralyze my victim. As well as camouflage effect that allows me to blend into any surroundings, also my body temperature drops leaving me undetectable to heat vision. I’m 15 years old and attend Visions, the center of advanced studies..It’s..It’s really just a highschool, but I like to remind myself of what my papa said to me. “Mija, you earned your place at that school! I’ll be damned to see stuck up children run you away from a proper education!!” Something my father didn’t have growing up. I tested very highly my whole life and always got good grades, school and education came so naturally to me..friends..not so much.
It was my papa’s dream for me to go to this school , so who was my mother to deny a man on his deathbed his dream for his eldest daughter right?…he..hehe. Yeahhh uh…My pa, he’s gone…He passed away when I was 13 from Cancer, but I don't like to remember him as a Cancer patient! I like to remember him for just being my papa. The one cracking jokes, cooking good food and saving lives as a firefighter…
I always wished he never got sick because then I just know..My life wouldn’t be the way it is now..
Months after my papa’s death my mother went downhill even almost lost her nursing license. She picked up drinking and smoking cigarettes heavily, also picking up extreme hours at the hospital to try to keep us afloat. She liked to claim all the hours were for keeping us afloat..a part of me believed that. That she was still the mami who used to give pep talks and smother you in kisses every morning, but really I knew it was also to feed her addiction..Apart of my mom still wanted to be a mother but sometimes couldn't bare to look at us and so I tried really hard to shelter my siblings from this part of her, but as they got older they became coherent to their surroundings . It was hard for us emotionally and financially, we were even still paying off his medical bills and that alone was a struggle to do.. Don’t get me wrong, my parents both made good money. I wouldn’t say we are DIRT poor as of right now, just struggling.. Those bills were just always a harsh reminder to us that he was gone..
We even lived in a beautiful house when he was alive but the hospital bills, caring for us, our wants and needs no matter what, bills..It swallowed them as his hours at work decreased more and more due to his cancer getting worse. Eventually putting him on disability we slowly got back afloat, but when he passed and we no longer got his disability income we lost our home and my mom lost her sanity. My parents worked so hard their whole lives to get us outta the hood for us to end up right back there . As I stated my mami kinda went..loco, She wasn’t herself any more, gave us no attention and became very cold and mean as the alcohol addiction increased so I picked up the care of my younger siblings and our apartment we moved into after the loss of the house. It was just my moms job to give me her paycheck to get it ALL done..Eventually we would argue about the money and costs of her habits so I had to pick up a job to pick up her slack..But that's enough of my life story let’s just get into it…
To be continued..?

My Hobie Brown to react to his shy gn crush accidentally sitting on his lap for your fluffy Friday request is so good! I love this especially they were talking excitedly to Gwen, their Miguel burger & canned drinks were shaking a bit in their food tray, their conversation about not missing out on the season to compare how horrible the show is XD, Gwen tried to stop them but it was too late, they're one of the few people without a Spidey sense which explains why they didn't sense it, the guy got their food all over him, they had every intention of apologising to him but he's quite intimidating, they apologised while walking backwards like I would, they tripped over something sturdy but he held their waist to steady them, Hobie immediately flirting with them while being so close to their face makes want to squeal, they're too distracted by how warm his hands are to say anything properly like I would XD, he smirks before addressing the Spider-Rex that they did apologise, Spider-Rex just lower his head to their height, they couldn't help but cling tighter on his torso which he doesn't mind, the dinosaur just nudged their legs which they said to send them the bill for dry cleaning, they tried to hide their face in his vest while not caring if his pins poke them like me, how protective Hobie is 🥰, Gwen helps to chase him away which I appreciate, she is annoyed by the dinosaur, his comforting helps a lot...until he mentioned "usually" which would make me more worried instead 😂, they questioned him back...to only realise they're sitting comfortably in his lap, he asked if they're staying there since he doesn't mind makes me feel so shy, they immediately got off his lap & asked him if they were crushing him which I'm glad they did, he reassured them before moving aside to let them sit down next to him, how nice Gwen is to them but how she warned Hobie to be nice 😂, how he defended himself is amusing XD, he gestured to sit across him so they won't be uncomfortable is so sweet to me 🥺, they chose to sit next to him despite being shy is something I can relate 😂, he smiled when they sit next to him, he offered to share his food so they would relax is so nice of him, they're grateful but made sure to ask if he's sure which I'm glad they did, and he looked at them longingly as he said if it's only with them is making me fall harder for him! Thank you so much for doing my request because I love it so much :)
OH ANGEL I LOVE THIS SO MUCH YOU'RE VERY WELCOME ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for requesting! I had so much fun writing it ❤️

@galranrepard
@lostwithspace "I see...still impressive though." Danika watched Rio's expressions. She wondered of how so many blade members were not as active as she was. The blue, white, and red galra had spent most of her life raised to fight for the cause. She couldn't imagine living a life that was different from her own. "True, and I'd like that." She actually smiled when Rio invited her to come hang out when the fellow blade wasn't busy. Danika wasn't used to letting her guard down so to speak nor socializing with many blade members that weren't busy doing training or on missions outside of her own path. Danika did pause almost spitting out her drink when Rio talked about Kolivan. She composed herself with a polite cough before setting down her now empty glass of golden apple. "I...well...Kolivan is actually my uncle so I've been raised under him pretty much all my life. My parents died on one of their missions when I was a child so Kolivan became more of less a second father to me. Most of the veteran blades like Ulaz, Thace, and Antok raised me as well. They were like family, and still are even though they've all passed on by now..." She looked down feeling vulnerable telling someone that she just met about her upbringing. Rio was kind and Danika wanted to not push him away. "So..." She looked back up after a minute over to the droid on the counter. "...I see you like tinkering with droids? What are you planning to do with this one?" Danika asked curiously. The fellow blade keeping a time still on how long she can talk before heading back to the bridge.
Chuckling into his own glass at the reaction, Rio pushed forward some napkins and moved to pour some more of the juice into Danika's cup. His natural experience dealing as a bartender already having the container back in the fridge before his visitor recovered to speak. It was then his turn to be caught off guard as he went to sit down across the table and almost missed sitting in the chair.
"I- I see." Rio stammered, fixing himself proper into the seat. He was caught between the revelation about his fellow Blades' lineage, and her confession of the loss of her family. He should do something, right? She looked sad, but she was also a close relative of the head of the entire organization. You're supposed to offer comfort, at least in these closer social situations, but to someone of her status? She was a Blade...
He raised his hand towards Danika's shoulder, to offer comfort, but hovered there unsure. When her head suddenly came up and looked towards the workstation area before he could reach out, Rio flinched back.
"Huh? Oh, that's Torval." He got up and went over to the workbench, getting away from the social awkwardness swarming his head. Kolivan's neice?
"They're a bit of a project. I've been upgrading his mechanics to be able to resist a lot more, and be able to operate in the vacuum of space. Help to do repairs on the outside when we're in flight, and could have more power under it versus my smaller spider droids."
At the mention, he tapped on the desk behind him, and a small sphere the size of a small grapefruit unfolded itself. Turning itself over, it crawled up and over to the outstretched hand and climbed up to his shoulder. Petting it on it's sensor head, he turned back at the multi-hued galra with a grin.
"More than a hobby, but doesn't quite pay the bills. You have any skill with a toolkit?"

My great uncle died yesterday and Im still reeling. He was suuuper close with my dad and taught me a lot of what I know about being in the wood and the forest and I miss him in ways that are kind of hard to articulate. Its probably very predictable, but I wish I had made more time to talk to him as he got older. Men on dad's side of the family have this weird curse where they live a long time after their wives in sad ghostly states but uncle bill had it together. He had a roomate, an old friend, and dogs who loved him in a soul-devotion, the mountain and the deer and the lions with whom he was neighbors. They had an understanding.
I dont know what will become of the old house. Idk what my cousin will do with it but I hope he doesnt tear it down. It was a strange house, custom and probably not to code with a spidering wrought iron stairwells with a pointy ivy pattern and a dozen dusty stuffed bobcats all over the living room (each one having made a play for the chickens or puppies at some point). There were always spiders in his house. As a very little kid I remember being afraid, but he always told me never to harm them, let them mind their business and be good neighbors. As a precocious child I spent a lot of time learning from him about our animal neighbors and our place not above them but part of the same landscape. I listened to his stories rapt for hours and hours, followed him onto the mountain with his scary dog. I marveled at the giant redwood pinecones and warrior squirrels leaping over mats of discarded needles, running little fingers on bleached discarded antler shed and sticking my hand in the divot made by a mountain lion in wet mud. "This is how you tell she has babies," he would explain.
I really try to live life without regretting stuff. He and my grandpa for all their love of the natural world were also hugely into science and its changing landscape. I read a lot and would bring science to them, and science, as is inevitable in this sort of context ends up becoming philosopy at a certain point. I wish I had spent more time with him. Whenever he talked to dad he always asked after me as well and I just. wasnt great a following up.
I hope my cousin returns him to his mountain, so he can be part of his home once again.

xxix: Do-Overs
Cat usually woke up at eight or seven on a normal day, but she was so deeply tired that she would've stayed in bed the whole morning hadn't been because the phone rang.
"Hi?" She answered drowsily.
A voice with a thick accent blasted through. "Guess who found your number!"
Cat pushed herself up supporting her weight on one arm. "Yelena... is that you?"
"Yes! You remember me!" She exclaimed. "How are you, Copycat?"
"Okay."
"I heard you quit S.H.I.E.L.D! Congratulations!"
"Stop screaming..." Cat fell back on her pillow.
"Who's that? Is Peter in trouble?" A deep voice spoke next to her.
Cat had forgotten about Parker, she jumped out of bed screaming.
He opened one eye, then stirred on the mattress. "Is everyone okay?"
"It's nothing, go back to sleep..." Cat rubbed her chest, lifting herself from the ground.
"—Ooooh was that a boyfriend?"  Yelena asked teasingly. "Say hi for me!"
"I have two questions," Cat went to the bathroom and looked at her reflection, even if she'd woken up abruptly she still felt well-rested. "Who gave you my number, and what the hell do you want?"
"Am I interrupting your honeymoon?"
"Yelena."
"Nat had a little book full of phone numbers, most of them were useless to me but I saw yours and I decided to give you a call! You missed me?"
"Not really."
"Anyway, the second thing was related to you quitting S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Why do you care?"
"You might be interested in working with me."
"Really?"
"I saw what you did with Spider-man in Europe and I think it's very cool that you stole Stark tech."
"That's not what happened."
"Oh," she could almost picture her pouting. "Then it's less cool."
"I'm not interested in doing anything illegal. I have bills to pay, and I'm friends with people that would certainly get hurt if I cause trouble."
"I never said I was doing illegal stuff."
"It's hard to believe the opposite, though."
Yelena laughed. "That is sweet. Well, I'll be in Jersey next week, so if you'd like to talk, I'll text you."
"Thank you for calling, I guess..."
"Have fun with the boyfriend!"
Cat hung up and washed her face. Parker showed up at the doorway. "All good?"
"It was Black Widow's sister, she found my number," Cat pushed the hair out of her face. He handed her a towel. "I think she's trying to be friends now?"
Parker gasped. "You have another friend apart from me?"
"I have friends apart from you, all in their twenties," she looked at him. "I think she's around twenty-six too! I could set up a date if you want? A one-night stand would be just perfect for you."
"If she's a Black widow I think I'll pass," he grimaced.
"Was that a dorky joke about spiders?"
"No, I just meant she's probably too rough for me," he smiled. "But it's good to know you can understand spider-puns."
"I was friends with Spider-man and Black widow, of course I understand them," she grinned. "You slept well?"
"First time in years!"
"Same here," she grabbed her phone and checked her texts. "You hungry?"
"A little."
"Let's eat out."
He paused. "Are you sure that's a good idea?"
She smiled and turned the phone toward him. "Peter found the last guy earlier today. They're all safe and sound."
"Really?" He asked in surprise.
"Yeah! 'Found Osborn, thank you for helping'. It's done!"
"Woah, that's... that's great!" He admitted, but he didn't sound excited. "Are you sure you want me to leave the apartment? What if I vanish and people freak out?"
"I'm sure Peter will let me know before they do that."
Parker looked down at his clothes. "Do you have something else I could wear, or..?"
"I have a hoodie that used to be Tony's... maybe I can find a pair of shoes if I dig through my closet? I don't think any New yorker will judge you if you go out wearing slippers, though."
Tumblr media
Peter called her, Parker approached the food truck to order while she attended to the call.
"What's up?"
"Hi, C.C..."
Cat's smile faded. "What did you do?"
"Okay, you don't know this but most of the guys that showed up here... I think they all died in their universes."
Cat glanced at Parker. "Really?"
"You don't sound surprised."
"I'm assuming that's not the big announcement you're trying to make."
"No, it's not... I trapped Strange in the mirror dimension because he was going to send everyone to die and I didn't want him to do that so I stole the magic cube and now we're taking them to Happy's place—"
"What!"
The people around stared at her but most kept walking, Parker mouthed 'What's wrong?' but Cat gave him a thumbs up and turned her back on him.
"Peter, what the fuck?" She whispered. "Why would you do that?!"
"May said we should help them! Honestly, she may be right, cause these guys aren't that terrible and most of their problems can be solved so if they don't have resources back home then—"
"There's a reason why they died!"
"Would you say that about Pietro?"
"DO NOT—" she took a deep breath. "You know I would've died otherwise."
"I'm not trading one life for the other, this could save all the lives!"
"Not all of them," she mumbled, thinking of Gwen Stacy. "There are things that can't be undone, Pete. What if saving them gets your other selves killed?"
"I have to try."
Cat wasn't going to be able to persuade him if Ned and MJ were on board, and it was obvious that they were since they were already moving the bad guys to Happy's apartment. "Did you tie them up at least?"
"What? No, Cat, that's terrible!"
"I don't know how to stress this enough. They. Tried. To. Kill. YOU."
"They agreed to be treated! They won't hurt me. I can feel it, remember? My spidey sense..."
He used the name she'd given to his ability, it worked exactly how he wanted. Peter trusted her, the least she could do was trust him in return. "Strange's alive, at least?"
"Yeah, he's just tied up in another dimension."
"Uh-huh. How are we going to bring him back?"
"We'll call Wong later."
"Wong might leave him there."
"Does this mean you're on board?"
Cat stared up at the sky as if looking for an answer. "You went to space and died out there just so I wouldn't be alone."
"Is that a yes?"
"Do you need me there right now?"
"I feel like they might get a bit antsy during the process. Ned and MJ are safekeeping the magic cube so they won't come with me, only May."
"You really trust those guys, huh?"
"I'm asking you to come later in the day... so not entirely," she could hear his smile.
"Don't forget to call."
"I won't. See ya."
Parker was already standing behind her holding two plates.
"Shit!" She jumped. "If you don't want me to jumpscare you, then don't do it to me!"
"Was that Peter?"
"There's been a change of plans..."
Tumblr media
"I would do that too if it were me," Parker nodded, cleaning his mouth with a crumbled-up napkin.  "And it kind of is me..."
"Yeah, all of you are mentally ill," she raised a brow. "I don't get why you try so hard to make everyone happy..."
Parker snorted. "Me? I've gone a bit off the rails, remember?"
"Yet you're supporting Peter's idea."
"I know my bad guys and they only wanted to help. Well, Max wanted to be helped, then he lost his mind a little, but Dr. Connors really wanted to help! It's just... I would love to have a second chance."
Cat sighed. "I won't try to reason with any of you webheads..."
"This is Stark's doing," he gestured vaguely. "Your self-centered agenda."
She smirked. "You're just saying that to upset me."
"I'm hoping you'll prove me wrong by making a generous gesture."
"I'm generous!" She poked his side. "I picked up an orphan from the street and fed him, gave him clothes, I even allowed him to sleep in my bed!"
"You have such a big heart," he said sarcastically.
"He's kinda hot so it wasn't that awful."
Parker laughed. "What would this universe do without kind souls like yours?"
"Probably create better ones," she hummed. "Prettier mutants."
"You're a pretty mutant."
"That's why I said prettier. I'm tired of walking," she stopped next to an alley and seized his wrist. "Let's teleport."
"Wait— I don't like that!"
"Too late!"
Tumblr media
She spent a long time comparing universes with Parker, they got pretty comfortable around each other. It was easier to laugh.
The moment came when Peter called, the young adults shared a look, this was it.
"Well," he rubbed his neck. "Good luck?"
"If everything goes as planned, you won't be here once I'm back so... good luck to you too."
He nodded with that tight-lipped expression. "Thank you for letting me stay here."
"Don't mention it," she placed one hand on his shoulder. "Now you look after yourself okay, Bug? Every time you feel like giving up, picture me there slapping you back into your senses."
The young man chuckled. "'My friend Jane would hate to see me miserable.' That good enough?"
"It's a start," she said, a hint of anxiety in her voice. "Don't change, please. Or if you do, be sure it's for the better..."
Parker nodded again. "Try not to kill people, maybe?"
She let out a short laugh. "I always hope you forget to ask..."
Tumblr media
Cat teleported to the middle of the room, earning a few gasps and curses from the men around her.
"Told ya she'd make it on time," Peter smiled. "Otto thought it was going to take hours for you to get here but I didn't tell them you could teleport."
"What's your deal?" Max questioned. "'Cause when I fought you in the forest you could also control electricity..."
"And you can turn into sand, too," said Flint Marko.
"And I can turn into a copy of nightmare Barney as well— where is he by the way?"
"You mean Dr. Connors?" Peter inquired. "He didn't want the neighbors to see him."
"Understandable," she nodded. "Anyway, I love it when people talk about me but we should focus on starting the healing process, right? The faster we finish the better!"
"Can you send him up?" May tapped on the projection and the man's tentacles lifted him until he was on the same level as the second floor's balcony. "Hang on, Doc!"
"Oh, will these humiliations never cease?"
Cat, who hadn't heard him speak until then, was highly amused by his antics. "Were you a theater kid when you were young?"
"Don't tease him."
"You! Keep your science fair project away from me!"
"Hey, it'll work have faith," Dr. Osborn tried to calm him down.
"Says the reckless fool who turned himself into a monster!"
"Woah— hey!" Cat intervened. "We're all freaks here, okay? Well except for May. Anyway, let's not use that word."
"Please, stop moving your head," Peter grumbled. "Hold still—"
"Don't you dare!"
When the chip incrusted itself on the back of Otto's head and temporarily knocked him out, she wished it failed so she could have Parker at home forever. The thought was so spontaneous she had to take a moment to process what had happened in her mind.
Otto regained consciousness. "It's so quiet..." he breathed. "Those voices inside my head... I'd almost forgotten..."
"Otto?" Norman inquired.
"Yes, Norman," the man lowered himself. "It's me..."
Peter came down by jumping off the balcony, he landed next to her and gave her a delighted smile, then he looked at Otto. The boy touched the tentacles' controls and moved them toward him. The nanotech formed a spider across his chest and back.
"I'm telling you, you're always getting new suits," she complained.
"Yours is cool as it is," he tugged at her cape playfully.
"I'm grateful, dear boy," Otto reached out and shook his hand. "Truly."
"Yeah, you're welcome," said the boy proudly.
"How can I help?"
Peter explained and Otto turned out to be a real puppy now that he was in control of himself. When the men scattered around the apartment, Cat and Peter remained in place.
"What?" He asked when he noticed her expression.
She put an arm around his shoulders and pulled him close, rubbing her knuckles against his scalp. "I can't believe your plan's working, smartass..."
"Let go! Ouch! Cat, let go of me!"
"Make me."
She might've been taller and older, but he still had super strength. He seized the arm that was keeping him in place and twisted it. Cat hissed and pulled away, but she was smiling.
"Ouuch," she shook her arm chuckling. "You didn't hold back..."
"You would've taken it as an insult if I had."
"True."
They shared a smile. She saw the high school boy she'd fallen in love with all those years ago, but the feeling was no longer making her stomach tighten, it was like looking at an old picture and being reminded of the good things in life.
Cat had C.C. in there somewhere, but that was not all she was now. She had entered a phase in life where death was not a tragedy but a fact that she'd memorized, yet it didn't seem like such a big deal from where she was standing.
"You're okay, Pete?" She asked, amused at how intently he was staring.
"I'm going to ask you for a favor. Starting tonight," he said. "You'll stop sheltering me."
He didn't know just how deep his request hit her. She was literally giving shelter to a different version of him, and she wished to keep him away from his world because she could no longer do that with the version standing in front of her.
There was a time and place for everything, even if she was scared to take the leap. Just like Tony had said. She swallowed the knot in her throat and nodded.
"Can you promise with words, please?" The boy requested politely.
Cat was holding the hand he'd used to squeeze her. Gently, she released it.
"I promise."

HERE IT IS! The sequel to Venomous Spider and the first big fic of the WDEF!
This was meant to be done last week, but then those road blocks meant I couldn't get T blockers for a week and the end result was uh... not fun.
Anyways have a lovely story about Venom trying to talk to their sister about the fact they're an alien creature now... which ended up sounding a lot like they were trying to come out as nonbinary
well hope you enjoy the read
“Coming through!” Ruby called as she swung past a few pedestrians.
Most of them ducked out of the way, but at least one of them tried to snap a picture of her in all her spider glory.
Come on, that was Ruby’s job!
How else is she gonna pay the bills if someone else starts getting famous taking pictures of Spidergirl?
Crime doesn’t pay and all that, but stopping crime wasn’t exactly a monetarily rewarding job either.
Ah, right, stopping crime. That’s what she was doing. Silly her.
Ruby swung up as high as she could get, before straightening her body and diving down as fast as she could.
One quick web and all that downward force turned into forward momentum, sending her rocketing down the streets.
With a twirl, she dispersed the excess force and landed on the roof of a moving car. The getaway vehicle for a group of armed robbers.
“Guys, come on, it’s my day off,” Ruby complained.
One of the thugs inside rolled down the window to try to get his gun out, but Ruby leaned over and webbed his arm to the car door. The man on the other seat tried to do the same, leaning over so he could get an angle on her.
Her hand was already extended and ready to web him to the root of the car, but then she felt the all too familiar feeling of a web attaching itself to the back of her costume, followed by the whiplash of intense deceleration.
The concrete wall of a skyscraper met Ruby’s back, and she let out an exaggerated, “ouch!” at the impact, getting now properly stuck in the web.
Before her the getaway car was flipped over and into the air, almost barreling down onto the street before getting caught in a series of well placed webs.
Everything had been executed with a precision and grace that Ruby lacked, and only one other webslinger really had.
A figure in white and black landed in front of her with all the elegance of an olympic gymnast. It walked towards Ruby with a perfect posture, keeping its back straight even as it went from walking horizontally to vertically up the wall.
“Hey, Venom,” Ruby greeted awkwardly.
“Spidergirl,” they replied, coldly, “can you tell me what day it is?”
“Uh, Friday?" she tried.
“It’s your day off!” Venom growled, “what did we tell you about sneaking off to save the day like that?”
“That it’s irresponsible, unhealthy, and unsustainable,” Ruby droned off, having heard that lecture more than once, “and that I should be able to trust my partner to share the load.”
“Good,” they nodded. A wide toothy mouth formed on Venom’s mask, like their face had been split in half. They leaned in and a long tongue slid out and licked at Ruby’s face like an affectionate dog, “now promise you’ll trust us to handle things today.”
“I promise,” Ruby sighed.
“Good,” Venom answered, before jumping off and swinging away.
Leaving Ruby still very much attached to the wall.
“Uh, Venom?” she called, “babe? You can let me go now… Venom!?”
~~~
The next morning Ruby still felt sore from spending half an hour stuck to a hard wall.
Thankfully even Venom’s webbing dissipates over time, so she didn’t have to stay there all day waiting for the firemen to cut her free.
That would have been embarrassing.
She stretched a few times after getting out of bed, her back making an unpleasant noise in the process, before making her way to the apartment’s kitchen/living room/only room besides the bedroom and the bathroom.
It was there that she found her missing girlfriend… girlfriends?
She wasn’t sure. It had been a couple of months, but she wasn’t fully used to dating two entities sharing a single body. Not like that’s something she could have prepared for.
“Good morning,” she greeted, “someone was up late last night.”
Venom had been laying on the couch, checking their phone, only just now realizing she was there.
All their goopy monster bits had once again retreated inside their body, leaving only the familiar face of Weiss Schnee to greet her. “Oh sorry, we ended up on the other side of the park and had to websling all the way around.”
Right.
Swinging through low hanging trees was a terrible idea, and Ruby had found that out the bad way.
“Hey, as long as you two got enough sleep, it’s fine,” Ruby assured them as she walked over to the kitchen counter to start working on breakfast, “I did miss my cuddles though.”
“We promise we’ll compensate tonight,” Venom replied with a small smile.
“You better,” Ruby joked.
She hummed along to some half remembered song as she began to cook for the two of them. Though the breakfast she made could easily feed four, were it not for the fact that Venom needed to eat for two, and that Ruby had a habit of eating way more than she probably should.
Super powers meant a super metabolism, she guessed.
The entire time Venom stayed silent, just staring intently at their phone.
Even as Ruby served up their food, their eyes never moved from that screen.
“Alright, what’s wrong?” Ruby demanded, crossing her arms.
“What?” They asked, finally looking up at her, “there’s nothing wrong.”
“You haven’t commented on my humming, you haven’t tried to steal any food,” Ruby listed, “it’s obvious something got you down.”
Venom sighed and deflated, before sliding their phone her way.
It showed multiple notifications for unread messages from Winter Schnee. The preview of the latest message read that she would be visiting over the weekend.
“Hey, your sister is coming to town?” Ruby asked, cheerfully.
“Should be here tomorrow,” Venom replied, sounding downright depressed.
“Isn’t that a good thing?” she asked.
“We just… we don’t know if we can lie to her,” they answered, and Ruby finally understood.
“I get that,” she assured them, placing a hand on their shoulder, “lying to dad and Yang, and even you, was really hard on me too. I know it’s difficult to hide this stuff from the people you love, but it’s for their own safety.”
“No, you don’t understand!” They growled, teeth growing sharp and eyes turning fully black, “when you’re with them you’re still Ruby. You don’t have to pretend to be anyone else. How can we look into our sister’s eyes and pretend to be Weiss again?”
Oh, right.
Of course Ruby didn’t understand. She wasn’t the one who had to keep the mask on every moment of her life.
The transformation receded once again, revealing their anguished human face underneath. “Should we tell her?” They whispered.
Ruby was definitely not the person to ask that, considering how this whole symbiote thing started.
“That’s up to you,” she answered, “whatever you decide, I’ll be there with you.”
That did nothing to assuage Venom’s worries.
“What if she hates us?” they worried, “what if she only sees us as a monster?”
“Venom,” Ruby called, holding both of their shoulders and turning them to look her in the eye, “she is your sister, she loves you.”
“No,” they muttered, “she loves Weiss. She doesn’t know us.”
“Hey, I love Weiss too, but that doesn’t mean I can’t love Venom,” Ruby assured, giving their shoulders a little squeeze, “you may be a new person, but there’s still a part of you that is Weiss, but happier, more herself. Your sister has to understand that you love yourself more as Venom than you did as Weiss.”
Venom looked up at her, eyes holding back tears, “thank you, Ruby,” they answered, their voice quiet, “we think… we think we’ll tell her the truth.
“Okay,” Ruby nodded and kissed their forehead, “do you want me there with you for that?”
They seemed to consider that for a moment, before shaking their head, “no. This is something we have to deal with by ourselves.”
“Alright,” she answered with a smile, “now how about we have breakfast before all that food goes cold?”
~~~
Ruby had to admit she was a bit nervous.
Okay, more like a lot nervous.
Yeah, she had reassured Venom half a dozen times the previous day, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be worried about their safety. Especially when her sister was with the military, and her boss sure didn’t take too kindly to parahumans.
She still remembers getting shot at by one of Ironwood’s security robots, and she didn't want Venom on the receiving end of that.
So maybe she put on her Spidergirl costume, and maybe she stalked the sisters for a bit to make sure everything was fine.
And maybe she took a web ball to the stomach as soon as Venom realized what she was doing.
Plan B then. Trusting her girlfriend to know what’s best for them, to be able to open up to their sister, and defend themselves if need be. That meant giving them space, and letting herself relax and stop worrying so much.
Oh who was she kidding?
She was pacing around the apartment, checking her phone every five minutes.
At first it felt silly.
Winter was a caring and protective sister. She had loved Weiss with her entire heart, and she would love Venom too. Her loyalties to the general didn’t matter compared to her love for her family.
Then hours went by without a sign, and that nervousness began to take root again. What if Ruby was wrong? What if Venom was at risk? What if Winter saw splitting them apart as protecting her sister?
Crap.
Should she go look for them? Where would she even look? What if Venom came back while she was away?
More and more hours piled on, and Ruby found herself texting them. Just some simple check-ins at first, but the longer she went without an answer the more desperate her texts became.
This was bad. This was really bad.
Night was falling and there was still no sign of Venom.
Then there was a call.
Ruby nearly jumped from the couch when she heard her phone vibrate, stumbling over herself on her way to the counter where she left it.
It was an unknown number. She cursed, furious that some random bot was calling her when Venom could be in danger.
One touch and the call was rejected.
Then it rang again. Same number.
One more touch.
One more call.
Whoever this was they were really desperate to get in contact with… oh no.
In a panic she answered the third call and put her phone to her ear. “Venom!?”
There was a sniffle from the other side, “it’s… Weiss. Winter, she… she split us apart.”
~~~
The sounds of heavy marching boots echoed through the hallway of the military base. It was the sound of Winter Schnee keeping up with the brisk pace of her superior officer.
“Any results from the specimen?” General Ironwood asked, not bothering to look her way.
“None yet, sir,” Winter informed him, “it seems its biology is… incomplete without a host body. Besides its susceptibility to certain sound frequencies, our tests have been inconclusive.”
The stern man nodded, taking in the new information, before issuing his new command, “well, what are we waiting for? Set up the sonic disruptors so we can keep it in check, and find it a host body for further testing.”
Straight to the point.
Unfortunately she had thought of this already.
“About that,” she began, “the specimen has refused to bond with any other life forms since it was extracted. We assumed it had a preference for human DNA, but even our volunteers have not been able to bond with it.”
This time Ironwood paused, scratching his beard and he gave this problem further thought, “you mean it has refused every host except your sister?”
Even as Winter tried to contain her reaction, it was impossible to keep her eyes from widening at that thought. He couldn’t be implying what she thought he was.
“Sir… you don’t mean…”
Seeming to notice her internal conflict he placed a hand on her shoulder and reassured her, “I won’t ask you to experiment on your own sister. That thing will have to accept a new host eventually, or let itself starve to death.”
Winter couldn’t help the sigh of relief that escaped her at that. “Thank you, sir.”
“Now, speaking of Weiss,” he continued, “how is she holding up?”
Weiss.
God, Weiss…
Winter knew this was only the effect of the symbiote on Weiss’s psyche, but it still hurt her to see her little sister look at her with so much anger and hurt in her eyes. The idea that this creature had free reign to manipulate her like this for weeks, if not months, made Winter sick to her stomach.
“Weiss is still shaken from the experience,” Winter admitted, though the general could be spared the details on what that meant, “she had fallen asleep in my office not an hour ago. I should proba–”
She reached for her phone to message her sister, but she found that her pocket was empty.
Had she forgotten her phone somewhere?
No, she always kept track of those things. Besides last time she had looked at her phone she had been in her… office.
“You should probably check in on her,” Ironwood finished for her, granting her leave.
“Yes, sir,” she answered with a nervous nod, before turning to walk at an even faster pace towards her office.
Weiss wouldn’t have done that, right?
She wouldn’t just steal Winter’s phone.
Who would she even call?
But that thing had changed her. It had turned her into something different. Maybe Weiss was still under its influence somehow and was trying to become “Venom” again.
Venom.
The symbiote had not been subtle with its intent. Poisoning Weiss’s body and mind, turning her into this creature.
Winter shoved open the door to her office and then slammed it shut behind her.
Weiss looked up at her, Winter’s phone to her ear, eyes wide with surprise.
“I love you! See you soon!” Weiss blurted out, before finishing the call and tossing the phone aside.
“What did you do!?” Winter demanded, stomping up to the desk.
“Calling our– my girlfriend,” Weiss deflected, “why do you care?”
Winter pinched the bridge of her nose, “Weiss, you stole an officer’s phone, and made an unauthorized call from inside a military base. Do you know how much trouble you’d be in if the general was the one barging through that door?”
Weiss just crossed her arms and stepped away, “I don’t know. Can’t be much worse than what you already put me through.”
The resentment in her voice made Winter flinch, her own frustration diminished by her worry for her sister’s health.
“It was for your own good,” Winter argued.
“What!?” Weiss shouted, “to kidnap us? Rip us apart? And then lock me up in your office for hours? How is any of this for my own good?”
“Us.” The creature still had its grip on her sister’s mind.
“Weiss, that thing was using you,” Winter insisted, “it was a parasite.”
“I told you, they would never do something like that to me,” Weiss pushed back, “they care about me, they understand me. We were together because we chose to be.”
No.
No, that was absurd.
“That thing is an alien parasite, we have no idea what it could have done to you,” Winter continued, refusing to listen to her sister’s insanity, “how can you be sure this isn’t just that creature messing with your head?”
Weiss stepped forward and stared her in the eye, “because we chose each other. They chose me above anyone else, and I chose to let them in. We were both tired of being abandoned, so we chose to be together.”
Winter had to remind herself that this was just the alien’s influence, even if she didn’t doubt some of this came from Weiss’s true feelings. She had always struggled with loneliness, a struggle Winter had been less than successful at helping her with.
Could she really have been so dejected that she’d rather become a monster than stay alone any longer?
And the symbiote, though it was clearly echoing Weiss’s own feelings to trick her, why did it bother?
Unless the host was able to actively reject the bond, at least at first.
It also came for Weiss instead of anyone else?
Had her emotional turmoil made her an easier prey or perhaps–
“It chose to bond with you,” Winter repeated, “because you were compatible.”
“That’s what I’ve been saying,” Weiss argued, “we understand each other.”
“No, Weiss,” she corrected, “you’re genetically compatible. It doesn’t have a preference for human DNA. It had a preference for yours specifically.”
“What’s that supposed to mean!?”
Winter grabbed her phone and turned back towards the door, “it means I know the perfect test subject.”
~~~
The test chamber was a quiet, clean place. The glass that formed this square room was not only bullet proof, but also sound proof, as to keep the creature from escaping and the sonic disruptors from affecting the scientists outside. Meaning that, with the exception of the installed intercom, Winter was truly isolated from the outside world.
“Are you sure about this?” came the general’s voice through the intercom.
Winter knew he wouldn’t be able to hear her, so she simply nodded and stepped forward.
In the center of the chamber sat a metal canister containing the inky black blob that comprised the symbiote’s body. Their studies had shown it had very limited senses when not bonded, so it shouldn’t be able to tell it was a different person approaching it now.
Carefully she opened the canister and spilled its contents onto her hand.
The creature’s body was malleable, and yet far more solid than it first appeared, seeming to be able to tense and flex its body as necessary.
At first it simply hung from Winter’s hand, stretching itself down under its own weight. Then it reacted.
“My matching half.”
The creature began to pull itself up, its main body spreading itself over Winter’s hand and forearm like a glove.
“I missed you. I was so lonely.”
Its color began to change from black to white as it continued to climb over her body.
“How I missed being us.”
A sense of sadness and longing overwhelmed her, like a wave that swallowed over all of her other emotions.
“No. No! The halves don’t match!”
Then there was anger. Bright and burning.
“What did you do to her? What did you do to Weiss!?”
Winter fell backwards as the symbiote rippled and screeched. It was a terrible sound, and one Winter didn’t even know it was capable of creating.
The thing formed a large and terrible maw, easily half its body mass turning into sharp teeth.
“What did you do to Weiss?” the creature gurgled as it prepared to bite off Winter’s throat.
Why hadn’t the disruptors gone off? What was the general waiting for?
A whistle blew through the test chamber, and both her and the creature turned to look at its source.
It was… Spidergirl?
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” the masked vigilante said casually, “I was busy chatting up the general.”
She gestured back at the command desk, on which both the general, the scientists, and the armed guards found themselves webbed to.
“Now come here, baby girl,” Spidergirl called, “let’s get you back to your better half.”
What?
No!
What was she doing?
She couldn’t be doing this!
The symbiote did not share in her disbelief. It let go of Winter’s body and bounded over to Spidergirl, fusing itself to her costume with extreme ease.
Before Winter could respond to the shock, the vigilante had already webbed her way out of the room.
No. No!
She couldn’t let her get back to Weiss. She wasn’t going to lose her sister like that again.
She forced herself up to her feet and tripped her way out of the chamber. One look was all she spared to her trapped companions before the general commanded, “go!”
It was all she needed to hear.
Stopping only to grab her side arm, she rushed through the corridors of the base, more and more webbed up soldiers lining the walls.
The doors to the main entrance were flung open, the red forest that surrounded the base spreading out before her.
And Spidergirl ran ahead, getting ready to websling through the trees.
Winter took her shot, twice, but both times the vigilante dodged her bullets without even looking back. Before she could make a third shot, Spidergirl already swung into the woods.
She knew she could not catch up to her, not on foot, but in her desperation she still tried, hanging webs guiding her path.
Her body strained - even with her spectacular physical condition - as she tried to keep pace with the swinging hero. Having to vault over fallen logs and jump over ditches that Spidergirl simply ignored.
By the time Winter had caught up her lungs were burning, her muscles ached, but still she clung to her pistol and forced herself to step forward.
Weiss was waiting for them in a clearing, nervously twitching and pacing around. Winter wanted to approach her, but before she could take another step Spidergirl landed in front of her with her arms spread open.
“Missed us?” she asked.
Crap.
This was her last chance.
Winter had to stop her now before that creature could bond with Weiss again.
She steady her gun, aiming at Spidergirl. Just one shot. It was all she needed.
But if she missed, then Weiss…
Could she risk that?
Winter hesitated, and her chance was gone.
Weiss jumped into Spidergirl’s arms and pulled her into a tight hug.
The symbiote split itself free from the costume, before enveloping Weiss once again. Blacks and reds changed into whites and blues, matching Weiss’s usual aesthetic in a way that almost seemed deliberate.
There was a chuckle, then a laugh, then a cackle.
The creature pushed Spidergirl aside as it laughed louder and louder. Its combined voice echoing the words.
“We. Are. Venom!”
“What did you do!?” Winter shouted and stepped into the clearing, any attempts at subterfuge completely thrown aside.
Spidergirl jumped in to keep her away, arms spread protectively. “Wait, wait, wait. Give them a moment.”
Then the laughter died down to a childish giggle. Venom hugged itself, before jumping and twirling in place.
“We’re us again. We’re us again,” they cheered, the symbiote’s form retreating back into Weiss’s body, revealing a face that cried tears of joy, “oh, we missed being us so much.”
“What?” Winter asked, confused.
Weiss- no, the creature - stepped back fear clear in its face. Clear in her sister’s face.
Winter hated having to see her sister look at her like that.
“Hey, how about you let Venom explain themselves a bit?” Spidergirl offered, “they’ve been meaning to talk to you for a while now.”
The creature carefully stepped closer, and Spidergirl stepped aside.
“Weiss really meant what she said,” it spoke, “we chose each other. We were alone and hurting and… and we thought maybe we could keep each other company. Keep each other safe.”
No.
No, that was a lie.
It was the symbiote’s manipulation again.
It had to be.
“And you took that away from us. You ripped us apart, forced us to be alone again, tried to trick us,” there was hurt in their eyes, and Winter had to convince herself that it wasn’t real, “but you’re still our sister.”
Her gun shook in her hands.
“When we came to you and told you who we were it was because we wanted to be with you,” it sounded almost pleading as it stepped closer to her, “we didn’t want to lie to you or hide who we were. You are our family, maybe our only real family, and we just wanted you to be able to love us the way you used to.”
That 's right.
The creature had outed itself to her on purpose.
Why would it do that? What could be the motivation for something like that?
Unless it…
“We know we’re not the Weiss you remember,” they continued, opening their arms to her, “but we still want to be your family. If you still want to be ours.”
…unless it was telling the truth.
Tears stung her eyes and her gun slipped from her grip, falling to the leaf covered ground with a thud.
Venom threw themselves at her, arms wrapping in a tight, almost desperate, hug.
“I’m sorry,” Winter whispered, arms slowly moving to hold her sibling, “I’m sorry I put you through all this.”
Venom leaned into the touch and assured her, “it’s okay. We just wanted our sister back.”

@koro-is-caffeinated I've done a dive in the past, I don't even know why, but the potato battery that is my brain gave this to me. So, I hope you'll enjoy
~
"Wakey wakey! I got groceries!"
"We got groceries. We split the bill."
The voices of the two boys rang surprisingly crystal clear in the dusty hall. The propped up bed was still looming in the shadow, with its occupant facing the closed window. They didn't move of an inch.
Ryan dropped the vegetables-filled cloth bags with a soft thud, sending a carrot rolling on the wooden floor. Steven, carrying a way more voluminous load behind him, mumbled something very unflattering under his breath.
"Aw, come on man, work with me here. I know you like sunlight, yesterday I found you watering the plants."
Here, this may have been an overstatement. Being found fidgeting with an empty glass next to the succulents on the window sill while a puddle of water was slowly making its way around the pots hardly equated to 'watering the plants'. But he was trying his best. Since when Sara brought those little colorful plants to him, the Professor seemed to have gotten better. Ryan didn't know that under all that blue fuzz there was a green (a very, very pale greenish) thumb, but having something to care about could not be bad.
The scholarly streak returned too, he has been found flipping through the pages of José Rizal's diary, and chattering with the succulents, telling weird history facts. Almost like the old times.
It always happened when he thought nobody was around, at first. If somebody was to interrupt, the Professor returned silent. Then, with a bit of patience, if you asked the right questions you could get interesting answers. His knowledge was coming back, hand-in-hand with the majority of his memory, and his taste for jellybeans.
Not for Beef Boy, though.
If the Ryan-of-then had been told that he would miss the lessons at Puppet University, the Ryan-of-then would have laughed it off. The Ryan-of-now instead believed in it. But the Ryan-of-then made mistakes, and the Ryan-of-now was working hard to fix them.
No matter how many death threats he received daily.
Ryan rushed to open the window. The warm californian breeze rushed inside, carrying a vague smell of freshly-cut grass with it. Outside, the skyline of the City of Angels glimmered in the heat. Then he approached the bed.
The Professor, with his unkempt blue hair hiding half his stitched-up face, remained still.
"C'mon, you're not sleeping. You snore when you do."
A golden eye cracked open.
"Well, Beef Boy, I don't snore. Or, I didn't. Not until somebody fed my lungs to a T-rex."
"We already talked about this. It was the Genie who- you know what? Nevermind. We got groceries. Vegetables and meat and other stuff. Oh, and your supplements."
"Talking of supplements, Ryan" somebody shouted from the back. Steven got rid of all the bags, except for one small package, who was still sitting on the floor. He pointed at it, before crossing is arms with a firm expression. "Your job to store them away. Because I am not touching that."
"Yeah yeah yeah, I know. In all honesty, Stevie, it's been years that you know the Professor. And you still recoil at the sight..."
Ryan picked up the box, and then pretended to fling it at his friend.
"...of a dead spider?"
Steven winced away. "Very funny. I remember when you had to catch them with your own hands. You were all squeamish."
"It's not my fault if that blue abomination let me believe that he hunted them! He could have said that he bought them from pet stores since, you know, the very beginning."
A faint wheeze interrupted them, before being cut short by a coughing fit.
"You should be grateful -cough cough cough- I wasn't planning on telling you that. Seeing you crawl around with a glass was too funny."
"He got a point, Ryan. I have to agree with the 'blue abomination' this time." admitted Steven, chuckling at the memory.
"Jellybean for Steven! Beef Boy, I want you to know that I caved in only because you were taking forever to get my snacks."
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Let's make fun of who brought you back from kingdom come, shall we?"
The light in McNasty's eyes grew colder. The other one, smelling the storm in the air, tactically retreated out of the room.
"Ryan Steven- yes, don't make that face, I know your name- 'Beef Boy' Bergara, care to tell me why you had to bring me back from kingdom come?"
"Don’t get this heated, the bandages are coming off-"
"A! An unlucky accident, I ate too much dolphin sushi in one bite and choked on it. Your expertise with CPR saved me."
"CPR? That is so gross-"
"B! That bloody Genie appeared out of thin air and shoved me under a train. You, like in a greek myth, travelled to the Underworld to rescue me."
"Technically it was the Genie's fault-"
"Or C! You were so utterly inept at history that you couldn't manage to win-" "The algorithm was faulted!" "-Not even once, and you chose to sell me to the Genie, and then you reanimated me out of guilt?"
Ryan stood still, the warm wind suddendly ice cold. He felt his muscles get tense with will to fight, his nerves ready to explode. He gripped the spiders' box. Then, like a in a flash, he saw Sara's disapproving stare after the Loudun episode, after that Satan gave him the cup. His head dropped.
"C. C like Cretino." He muttered.
"We got a C Dog in here! Ough ough ough!" He could hear the Professor's mockery echoing in his hears, but not really. All he could think about was how, no matter how hard he tried, he could never deserve forgiveness. He killed somebody, damn it! A fucking insufferable somebody, but still. How do you get back from that?
"...ough- Beef Boy, are you crying?" "No..." 'Not yet' would have been the correct answer, but Ryan wasn't going to tell it to the stitched freak lying beside him. He took in a deep breath.
"I... I am sorry. Again. For everything."
The Professor tilted his head.
"Hmmm... Point to Beef Boy, correct answer! Here, come get a jellybean."
The boy laughed, hoarse, trying to keep in the tears. If he shed some of them, McNasty didn't say anything.
"You- you don't even have a satchel anymore!" "Right, because it is, say it with me... " "In the Cretaceous period." "In the Cretaceous period, correct! You deserve another jellybean."
Ryan plopped on the bed, without saying anything. For a while, they stayed silent, without saying anything, staring quietly at Los Angeles. Then Beef Boy opened the box he was still holding.
"Do you... Would you like some spiders? As an appetizer?"
"Appetizer? Appetizer for what?"
"For wha- Lunch, what else? Who do you think we went shopping for?"
"You intend to make lunch? As in, preparing it yourself? Thanks but no thanks."
McNasty snatched the spiders away from Ryan's hands, incredibly fast for someone with an half-eaten arm. The latter rolled his eyes.
"As in, Steven's in the kitchen."
"Omph" was the comment. That blue monster had already started stuffing his face. "Den if coulf worpf" he garbled with his mouth full. He gulped down. "Then it could work."
Beef Boy got up, before turning to help the other get down.
"You're covered in spider crumbs... What kind of day is it, today?" "Crutches will do just fine, thanks. But why are we going? Do you really want to help Steven cooking?" "No, I want to keep Wheatley far away from knives and fire... Here we go. How are you feeling?"
The Professor swayed just for a moment, then he planted his crutches firmly to the ground.
"Perfectly good... ouch! I didn't thought this bed was this close... I have to get better at having a blind eye. Shall we go? I smell good stuff in the making."
They started going towards the kitchen, from where effectively nice smells where coming. Wheatley's laughter rose up, followed by the Oars' ones and a comment by Bones. Steven yelled something that vaguely resembled "No! Away! It's hot!"
"By the way... how do you know my middle name?"
"Oh, Shane told me."
"Shane?"
McNasty didn't look up. Using crutches required all of his attention.
"Yes, Shane. We chat sometimes, you know. He wanted to know how I am. Unlike you, he cares."
Ryan dodged the bullet. "I thought your existences couldn't overlap"
"Exactly, overlap" The teacher side now was popping back. "We can't meet, but we can see pictures of each other. We can talk about each other. And he recently discovered that we can text to each other. Telephone calls don't work"
Ryan rubbed his eyes. "That fucker... and how recently did he discover this? No, wait, don't answer. He didn't say anything to me. I could throttle him."
"And I could throttle you Beef Boy! So, don't tempt me. Oh, look, what is boiling in the pot?"
"In the pot, nothing" said Steven, focused on slicing tomatoes without slicing Wheatley's fingers. "I am making homemade hamburgers. Do you like hamburgers?"
"Dolphin hamburgers?"
"Beef hamburgers, Professor."
"Shut up Beef Boy, what do you know? But yes, I could accept, for once."

CONTENT WARNING: Sexual Trauma
Wake up, eat, work, watch tv, go to bed, rehash for a year. When that becomes your life you end up with a lot of time to reflect. Maybe living life fast enough makes you miss opportunities and waste the ones given to you. Maybe a relationship founded on antagonism can’t ever last. The phrase, ‘words hurt’, ends up meaning more when you get used to hitting someone where the callouses have built up, but what happens when you miss and hit a nerve.
You make up and promise to start over again until the next nerve gets hit. Your goals for success are drifting apart and are now reaching a point of irreconcilability. The breakup comes over text. Your unspoken fear is that they’re afraid of you. They say they can’t put in the effort anymore and hope you understand. They want to stay friends, really.
You both know that's a lie. There’s been too many secrets shared that have created too much baggage for this to go back to being a friendship again.
You discover from one of the few people you’re still in contact with that she got on a dating app a week after your breakup. That year-long relationship didn’t mean more than a pile of Clydesdale horse shit.
Friends reach out. They say they always knew she was bad news. That they never liked her anyway. That you're better off. You tell yourself you believe it. That’s the second lie you know is a lie as you're saying it. Your friend group feels increasingly untenable since your now former lover is a mutual friend with them.
As a worker in the film industry you try to focus on your career but then a pair of strikes happen and your livelihood gets shut down. Your life is now on pause with one thing dominating your thoughts. You pick up a delivery app job to pay the bills in the meantime, but that leaves you with more unfilled silence that you inevitably fill with what-could-have-beens and what-I-could-have-done-differently.
You’ve always kept most people at a six foot distance. Growing up you got too used to being the butt of most jokes so you cope by putting up a giant black veil over your personal life. You reason that what people don’t know can’t be used against you.
You had that barrier, but what the hell, aren’t you supposed to confide everything in your partner? So you share everything. Your hopes and fears, even the ugly things you’ve never shown anyone else. That kid from when you were 12 that put his hands where you didn’t want them. The ways in which the impact has made you feel uncomfortable in the bedroom.
It doesn’t take long after the breakup for you to discover that she’s given this information out to people outside of the relationship. Apparently she was frustrated in bed and decided to vent to strangers about it.
You let the barrier down, but it turns out it was just a trojan horse.
Growing up you had a father who wanted the best for you, but that best ended up being up feeling always out of reach. He had a temper that always seemed to get aimed at you. So you grow up with the vow that you’ll never have a temper like an H bomb.
She tells you you have blue eyes that look like hurricane formations or calm oceans on a dime. You wonder whether or not those were words of adoration or caution now. You didn’t outgrow the man with a temper, you just lived long enough to become him.
But there is hope (as I’m writing this with three months left in the year) in this life. Tonight I reconnected with an old friend from back when I had a real life. We go to a concert for the music from Spider-Man Into The Spider Verse together. We talk about our lives lived with hopes and fears, regrets and successes. You realize that all those relationships that you thought had been tainted were really still always there. You just had to take that leap of faith.
You don’t know where this road you’re on is going to take you or whether you’ll enjoy every bump or snag. You don’t know where you stand in this industry and your place in it has never felt more uncertain. You are, however, sure of one thing. You will always possess the power to put one foot in front of the other, to carry on in the face of all that insists you turn back. For that is the capacity allows us all to live the lives we deserve. Someone else will come along that you’ll be able to share your burdens with. You will live in the light of tomorrow instead of the twilight of yesterday. You will live and you will love.

Real Amazing Spider-Man #1
Real Amazing Spider-Man Issue 1#
21:00 August 2023
Stark Villa Honolulu, Hawaii
Earth 616.
Peter Parker opens the Villa door and carries Mary Jane Watson. A five-year-old girl rushes past them and turns on the television, and sits on a leather sofa in front of the television.
"You are enjoying this, aren't you?" asked Peter
"Tiger, don't you know it?" Mary Jane Watson said.
"It would be a shame to wear the same clothes the whole two weeks we stay in Stark's villa," said Peter, putting down Mary Jane Watson.
"I have to say, Tiger, it was n I have to say, Tiger, it was gracious of Tony to let us stay at his villa for a two-week vacation," said Mary Jane.
"Technically, it's a working holiday, honey, as Tony believes that AIM could attack the villa and use it to get a backdoor into his system," said Peter.
"How much is Stark paying us to protect his system?" asked Mary Jane Watson.
"Enough to get our wedding rings back from the pawnshop and for the next two months' rent on the apartment," said Peter.
"As long as our bills don't increase anymore, I know this is a working holiday for you, Tiger. However, it's finally pleasant to have a holiday as husband and wife since Annie's birth and aunt May's," said Mary Jane.
"I know, hopefully after we get back to New York, I can teach at Midtown High," said Peter
"Do you think you aced the interview?" Mary Jane asked. I think so, but they might turn me in for all the missed days I was employed previously, as well as the fake doctorate Otto got me, said Peter.
"I'm sure Tony would give you a job if you asked," Mary Jane replied.
"I know he would, but I think he still blames me for Jarvis quitting his job after May's death. Did I do the right thing by unmasking during the civil war?" asked Peter.
"You know that May and I both supported this decision. You are not to blame Fisk for capitalising on it and trying to kill you but for killing May instantly. I am preparing to call the airline to see if they can tell us where our bags are. This is Mary Jane Watson as she removes her cell phone from a coat pocket. Goes onto the Villa balcony as Annie plays on her Nintendo Switch.
Mary Jane Watson walks around the balcony, talking on her cell phone. She does not see someone watching the Villa through Binoculars
"Hello, I am calling to inquire about our lost bags," said Mary Jane Watson.
"Hi, this is Adam, a customer service representative for American Airlines customer support. We have done some research regarding your bags, Mrs Parker, and we can confirm that your bags have reached your destination in Germany." said a male voice.
"How the hell have you sent our bags to Germany when we were booked on a flight from JFK to Hawaii?" asked Mary Jane.
"Because of a massive software system glitch, someone has mistakenly placed all luggage belonging to you and your fellow Hawaii passengers on your flight," said Adam, referring to the mistake.
"How are I and my family going to get our bags?" Mary Jane asked.
"Unfortunately, because of a three-day airport strike, we cannot pick up and transport your missing bags since there is no flight scheduled to Hawaii for another eight days," Adam explained.
"What the hell am I going to do for eleven days without my luggage?" asked Mary Jane
"Upon making a claim to our claims department for all missing luggage, we will send you $1,500. We will send the money to your home address within twenty-eight days," replied Adam.
"Yeah, but that doesn't help us when we are in Hawaii for two weeks," said Mary Jane.
"Our company policy is to send all checks to customers' registered addresses," Adam explained.
"Fine, if I make a claim to the claims department will you be able to hold our missing luggage at JFK once we return to the United States?" asked Mary Jane Watson.
"We cannot promise anything, Mrs Parker, but there is a chance we can arrange for you to pick up your missing luggage; once we arrange collection of unclaimed luggage, we will only hold unclaimed luggage for two weeks before selling it at auction," said Adam.
"Can you put me through to the claims department so I can make a claim?" asked Mary Jane Watson.
"The claims department phone lines are currently closed and will not open until 9:00 am tomorrow morning. If you would like a reference for quick claims processing, please have a Pen and Paper reference number 09081969CJ. Can you help me with anything, Mrs Parker?" Adam asked.
"Thanks, Adam," said Mary Jane, ending the phone call. In frustration, she crushed her cell phone and said, "Oh crap, I'm going to need another one." She dropped many pieces of her cell phone as Peter joined her on the balcony.
"I am guessing the call was productive with the customer services department, so where are our bags?" asked Peter.
"Oh, our bags are currently somewhere in Germany, and American Airlines won't be able to deliver them to us for eleven more days," said Mary Jane
"How the hell did that happen then?" asked Peter
"Customer associate said they had a computer glitch that caused Hawaii-bound passenger bags to be put on the Germany plane while the Germany-bound bags got put on the Hawaii flight; they will pay us the compassion but will send a check in the next twenty-eight days," said Mary Jane Watson.
"So we are stuck in the clothes we came in?" asked Peter.
"Afraid so, Tiger," said Mary Jane. She looked at Peter, removed a small box, knelt down on one knee and opened it to reveal a Spider Tracer and a gold chain.
"Happy Birthday," said Peter.
"Is this your most effective attempt to join you as a superhero Tiger?" Mary Jane Watson asked.
"Yes, but I know you are not keen on being a superhero after the Spider-Island incident. However, why can it activate a Spider-Suit for you? Holding the centre of the Spider Tracer will create a nanotech spider-woman-like costume for you to fight in. You can all press it once it triggers my Spider-Sense and allows me to track your location should a villain kidnap you," said Peter as he got up and placed it around Mary Jane's neck.
"It's beautiful, Tiger. I love it; what's the battery life?" asked Mary Jane.
"Long enough for me to find you," said Peter.
02:00 hours
Warehouse
Honolulu, Hawaii
Five men and one woman are gathered around a table with blueprints of the Stark Villa with pictures of Mary Jane Watson Parker, Annie Parker and Peter Parker.
Stark hired housesitters. Will this cause a problem?” asked the group leader.
“Not at all, sir,” the other team members said as they studied the Stark Villa blueprints.
“Sabrina, your job once we get into the Villa is hacking into Stark Industries,” said the group leader.
“That's fine with me as long as I can kill Peter Parker. This is because he led the woman I love to be killed by Spider-Man, so this is not an issue for me,” Sabrina replied. She was a white woman with a black pixie-style haircut with blonde streaks running through it. She had brown and green eyes. She was wearing denim jeans, a pair of black boots, a pink T-shirt, and a black denim jacket and wearing a pair of glasses as she was looking at a picture of Gwen Stacy in a locket around her neck.
"fine by me, Hacker, as long as you gain access to the Stark mainframe," said the team leader.
"You have access. I'm not jeopardising the mission," said Sabrina.

Death of the DCEU or Chekhov's Gunn
Tumblr media
Henry Cavill is no longer Superman and is off trying to be a Space Marine. Wonder Woman III is dead because Patty Jenkins can't take criticism. Jason Mamoa is in talks to be recast as Lobo. James Gunn is writing a new Superman film based around Clark Kent and skewing younger for franchise longevity. The Snyderverse is finally dead and I cannot stress how happy I am to see it go. It's no secret that I am a Marvel Apologist. I think The House of Ideas just writes better characters. There is an inherent reliability setting your vigilante shenanigans in the real world, and giving those heroes very human flaws. Spider-Man is my favorite because Peter Parker was a nerd as a kid, who puberty hit like a truck being driven by a radioactive spider. Wall-Crawling hyperbole aside, that's kind of my life story. I'm not some solar powered alien who can punch the planet to dust or a billionaire victim of violent crime. I'm just a guy and most of my power fantasies are rather sardonic, grounded in the reality of my life circumstances. I dream of being able to pay for an ambulance ride and not have to take out a loan to cover it. That said, I don't mind DC's take on the Greek Myth and always enjoy when those characters are executed correctly in media outside of print. The DCAU is the gold standard for creating an interwoven universe and that version of Kal is easily my favorite. There is a real, earnest, humbleness; a concerted effort at creating character over spectacle, which made those shows endearing. The DCAU made me like Superman, which is a feat because i don’t like Superman. The Snyderverse had none of that. In fact, Snyder’s take on Superman is almost everything i hate about the character. There is nothing subtle or nuanced about what Zack Snyder does and it crippled that entire burgeoning cinematic universe from the start.
Tumblr media
Snyder fell into the same trap so many other people do when they write Supes. He made him Jesus. It's a common error because of how powerful the character is. Dude is a literal god in comparison to us mere mortals and it’s easy to lift him into the heavens. Easy and lazy. Super-God is the cheapest way to approach the character and completely misses the point of Clark Kent. Superman is the alias. That’s the visage he chooses when he does his hero work. Contrary to the very poignant monologue in Kill Bill, Clark is not the costume. Clark is the person. Superman is the version of Clark he thinks the world needs, not the person he is. Kal-El crashed landed on earth as basically a newborn. He was raised in Smallville, Kansas by Jon and Martha Kent. He is a corn-fed, middle American, white boy, through and through. Kid can just spew plasma from his eyes. Like, let’s be clear; Clark still looks like Superman, even when he’s Clark. Dude is over six feet tall, and built like a straight up circus strongman, but he’s still JUST Clark. The core of Superman are those values Jon and Martha instilled into him as they raised him on their farm. It’s that humanity given to him, by his very human parents, which define the character and not his insane power set. Snyder never understood this. He never let Clark be Clark, he was always Superman. Clark blended in with human society for decades before donning the cape and none of that was ever really conveyed, even in Man of Steel. He was immediately this Savior figure, uplifted into the hallowed realm of deified legend. The DCAU Superman canonically still believes in Santa Claus, man! Zack Snyder would never! Something like that isn’t benefiting of his Jesus Allegory. It’s not tortured enough. It’s not edgy enough. But that’s the thing; Superman is soft as f*ck. Mans is straight ten ply, bud. You need those little character moments to make Superman relatable and Snyder never delivered those to us, which is kind of the entire problem with the Snyderverse.
Tumblr media
I grew up in the Nineties. Batman: The Animated Series was a huge part of my childhood. It launched an entire, interconnected, television universe and it did it by telling compelling stories, riddled with spectacle, but based around characters and relationships. WonderBat is one of my favorite pairings but even the platonic interactions of Hawkgirl and Flash made for dope ass television. These heroes have powers that exceed reality and, somehow, they felt grounded. They felt relatable. They felt like people. Nothing about the Snyderverse is relatable, outside of Aquaman, and that's just because Jason Mamoa is playing himself but wet. People hate when I say this, but you build a cinematic universe the way Marvel did. That's how you make it a success. Iron Man was popular because Tony Stark was dope. It wasn’t about the armors, it was about the human piloting them. The best versions of Superman are dope because of Clark. It’s almost always the secret identity that makes the character, It’s what we, as the audience, can identify with. If your hero or whatever, has an alias, then it’s just that; An alias. It’s not who the character is, it’s just a means to an end. The only time this rule doesn't apply is with Batman. That asshole is always Batman. There is no Bruce Wayne but, even then, you can find a happy medium a la Kevin Conroy, rest in peace. Snyder is terrible at this sh*t. None of the films he's written, have a character focus. It's all juvenile, edgelord, spectacle and convoluted, superficial, allegory. Every one of them. Sucker Punch is a perfect example of this sh*t. None of those plot devices has a character. There is no growth in anyone. There is a resolution but, at the end of the day, they are the same exact people on the last page of that "script", as they were on the first and WB gave the reins of their greatest character IPs to this man? Snyder does do decent work when he has a focus. When someone is there to rein him in, hes a fantastic creator. hat did not happen with the DCEU and it shows. Basically this entire franchise is Sucker Punch but with Capes.
Tumblr media
When the narrative isn’t his own, Snyder can deliver a glitzy, if vapid, product. Think 300 or Watchmen. Left to his own devices, we get sh*t like Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice or Army of the Dead. The worst thing about this, though? The Snyderverse could have still worked if they just took the time to build it out properly. I am no fan of Zack Snyder, at all, but his films are very much technically sound and, if I'm being honest, man has great ideas. It's in the execution of these ideas that Snyder fails. He can't get out of his own way, which is why he should have never been the Feige for the DCEU. He doesn't have the clarity of vision for that, which makes building a decade long narrative nigh impossible. Snyder can't see the forest through the trees and WB thought he could. I don’t understand why, his entire catalog of personal projects is a clusterf*ck of bloat and feature creep, but whatever. All of that is changing as the franchise has a new steward. Two, actually, but we’re only talking about one: James Gunn. James Gunn can write characters. That’s his biggest strength. Guardians of the Galaxy worked because those characters were strong as f*ck. The Suicide Squad worked because those characters were strong as f*ck. Tell me you knew who Ratcatcher II was before this film. Tell me you gave two sh*ts about Polka-Dot man before Gunn wrote him so well. Gunn can make Superman feel like a proper character and, more to the point, make Superman feel like Clark. Gunn is everything the DCEU needed and now he has the opportunity to prove it. The Snyderverse is dead. Long live the Gunnverse.

Spider-Man is my favorite hero because Peter Parker was a nerd as a kid, who puberty hit like a truck being driven by a radioactive spider. I dream of being able to pay for an ambulance ride and not have to take a loan to cover it. That said, I don't mind DC's take on the Greek Myth and always enjoy when those characters are executed correctly in media outside of print. The DCAU is the gold standard for creating an interwoven universe and that version of Kal is easily my favorite. There is a real, earnest, humbleness; a grounded effort at creating character over spectacle, which made those shows endearing. The DCAU made me like Superman, which is a feat because i don’t like Superman. The Snyder else had none of that. In fact, Snyder’s take on Superman is almost everything i hate about the character. There is nothing subtle or nuanced about what Zack Snyder does and it crippled the burgeoning cinematic universe from the start.

The core of Superman, are those values, the humanity given to him, by his very human parents, Martha and Jonathan.

Nothing about the Snyderverse is relatable, outside of Aquaman and that's just because Jason Mamoa is playing himself, but wet. Snyder does decent work when he has a focus.

When the narrative isn’t his own, he can deliver a glitzy, if vapid, product. Think 300 or Watchmen. Left to his own devices, we get sh*t like Batman versus Superman: Dawn of Justice or Army of the Dead. The worst thing about this, though?
