Had a thought about the Reluctant War and made myself a bit sad and I have no idea if it'll make it into the story proper so I'm going to inflict it upon all you guys:
Dick Grayson on the streets of Gotham trying to do everything he can to help as everyone join the ghosts in fighting the GIW, suddenly has a version of the GAV barreling down towards him and for some reason he can't get out of the way in time.
He thinks he's about to join the army of the dead in a whole new way, when the tank fo a vehicle is suddenly sent flying as something massive charged it from the side. He hears a familiar bellowing and then realizes that it's Zitka, a ghost after passing away peacefully a few years before.
She wasn't apart of the army of the ghosts, wasn't brought in to fight. She's just been following her tiny human child around all these years and now that there's enough ecto in the air to do so, she's going to protect him with all her might.
Dick is emotional, so thankful to have his old friend back, but the city is still in a state of chaos. He gets onto Zitka's back and they get to work, running - flying - around helping to grab the injured and whisk them away to safety or take out other GAVs and the like.
It's absurd and freeing and wonderful all at once to be literally flying through the skies of Gotham on the ghost of his elephant best friend, and if Dick wasn't already on the side of King Phantom he is *now* and -
He gets shot off Zitka's back.
A GIW agent was aiming for the Ghost elephant but somehow *missed* and hit Dick instead. Not enough to injure him too badly, but enough to send him flying off Zitka's back and plummeting to the ground. His grapple is broken, and Zitka is diving for him but she's being shot at and she's not going to make it in time and -
A hand, reaching out to him in midair, familiar with its callouses and strong grip as he reaches out and grasps it, body suddenly swinging in a different direction and muscles acting on memory as he falls into the old, achingly familiar routine of his childhood. His mother, ethereal and bright as she smiles down at him, hanging upside down from a bar suspended from nothing but open sky as they swing and he is let go, flipping on instinct and caught by the steady strong hands of his father.
The Flying Graysons reunited in the skies above Gotham, Dick's ghostly parents determined to ensure their little bird never falls the way they did.

some thoughts about astarion because i'm tired of the internet reducing him to one thing
when bg3 came out in early access, astarion was always seen as the extremely flirty, confident guy who enjoyed sex (or so we thought) and spoke about it like it was his favourite thing. he was also kinda marketed as the āsexy vampireā, so you can understand why many people saw him that way based on the little amount of content we had. even while playing act 1 and act 2, many players still might think of him like that because he does have a very charismatic personality and he asks to sleep with you very early on, so it just automatically makes you think heās genuinely happy doing that and being totally serious.
BUT!!!!!!! we end up finding out later on thatās NOT the case and it was all part of a plan to seduce us in order for him to gain protection. he opens up about his past and his trauma and how he was forced to use his body to lure people back to cazador. he struggles with intimacy and relationships in general because of this. thatās why i really hope that people stop reducing him to āhot sexy vampire that loves flirting and having sex with everyoneā when that is not who he is, heās literally traumatised because of sex due to being forced into it and heās slowly trying to heal. heās also so much more than just āthe hot vampireā, ya know? if you actually put in the effort to get to know him, you will see who he truly is underneath and he has many loveable traits to appreciate.
you may not see the āsoftā side of him very often because he hides it, but itās there!! one thing i noticed that really stood out to me was that when i gave food to an orphan in act 3 and he approved. back when you first met him, he probably wouldāve done the opposite or had no reaction at all. i also saw a clip of someone trying to romance karlach and astarion and he literally told tav to choose karlach over him because he can see that karlach loves her. he said normally an arrangement would work for him but after everything karlach has been through, he doesnāt want to get in the way or see her hurt. letting tav go is also hard for him as well but he still thought about someone else. he couldāve whined or been possessive or jealous but he didnāt do that at all. where are all those people who reduce astarion to āthe guy that flirts and sleeps with everyoneā now? seriously. thatās not what he does, and when he was forced into it by cazador, he was trying to survive, he didnāt do it for his own pleasure. itās not a āhotā personality trait of his, itās literally trauma. and because he did it so much, he got used to it, and that resulted in him disassociating and feeling empty.
apparently if you ask him to join you and sleep with the drows at the brothel (something i will never make him do in my playthroughs), he only says yes because he struggles to say no. but he disassociates. and if youāre in a high approval relationship with him and he loves you, he will feel safe enough to express his feelings and say heās not comfortable. this happens before you fight cazador. iām not sure if he gives the same response after, but either way, if he joins in, he will always disassociate and itās not something he wants to do despite what he may say.
that being said, itās obviously still okay to appreciate his beauty and attractiveness, because he is very beautiful. he appreciates it and even likes being called beautiful. calling him āhotā and āsexyā isnāt a bad thing either, we know he can be and i'm sure he knows it too! itās just annoying when people act like thatās ALL he is and they donāt even mention anything else about his character. the love scenes are beautifully done too (i personally prefer the second one after youāve stopped him from doing the ritual, because thatās the one where he decided he truly wanted it and felt safe and comfortable because he genuinely loves you), and i actually wouldāve been fine if they didnāt have any scenes like that at all because itās totally understandable and valid if he didnāt feel comfortable, but i just hope that people donāt take things too far and over-sexualise him just because of how he appeared to be in the first half of the game and the way heās often marketed on social media. and yes i know heās fictional and nothing on the internet is going to hurt his feelings!!!! itās more about the fact that he canonically has sexual trauma and many people still say really disturbing stuff even AFTER they find out about that, and it just makes me uncomfortable to think that people are okay with treating someone like a sexual object especially when they've said they're traumatised and it makes them uncomfortable. idk if this makes sense š
but yeah he doesn't want to flirt and sleep with everyone as i've seen people claim. and if in an alternate universe he did, and he did it on his OWN terms, and the other people he had relationships with enjoyed it too, then good for them! absolutely nothing wrong with that if there's consent, respect and honesty. however, that's not the case with what happened with astarion, because 1. he was forced into using his body WHEN HE DID NOT WANT TO and 2. he misled people and lured them to a miserable fate. it's so horrible and devastating for everyone involved. sex was never something fun for him, and it certainly isn't a "personality trait" of his. it was a survival tactic. he was forced to. he didnāt want to.
obviously when he becomes more comfortable, then it's totally understandable to get excited when he flirts and shows physical affection. he can be so charming, funny, sweet and romantic and i love that. itās so beautiful to see him heal, genuinely find comfort in someone for the first time and experience intimacy that he feels ready and comfortable for. he deserves to love and be loved on his own terms instead of being forced. but again, he is so much more than the guy we were introduced to at the beginning. the internet just sees one thing and sticks with it but i really hope people start to actually appreciate him for who he is and the complexity of his character.
aaaaand i just had to leave this here <3

So I was watching a walkthrough of Super Mario Odyssey earlier today, and one scene in particular really caught my attention. When our hero temporarily takes over Bowser's mind with the help of Cappy to escape the crumbling level with Peach, we see how he almost becomes him in a way. And this gave me an idea.Ā
What if Bowser intentionally switched bodies with Mario? What if, aided by Kamek's dark magic, the Koopa King found a way to impersonate his enemy in an attempt to discard him for good and rule over the Mushroom Kingdom in a more insidious, calculated way?Ā
Would Peach still recognize her dear friend somehow?...
A personal take on the classic "Beauty and the Beast" genre. š

Now with a part 2!! (sort of x3)Ā

Fragile reader helping Dottore's segments do repairs on themselves, only of course they're not too successful or helpful because of their shaky hands and other complications. At first, you're adamant about not doing it because you think you might accidentally actually hurt them, like breaking their wiring, or cause them to short-circuit somewhere. But a lot of them are very good at convincing you (and in actuality so desperate for your attention and touch) that nothing will happen, their design is far too complex for something major to happen that easily! And so begins your poking and prodding into their internal systems. The clones are so much more complicated than those Khaenri'ahn machines you and Zandik researched all those years ago, it's hard not to marvel at their intricate designs. Which leads to you doing silly things like pulling their faces in all directions to get the best angle with a screwdriver in your hand, your face extremely close to theirs. The younger ones are bad at hiding their flustered state and have to bite their tongue to prevent any affectionately rude things from flying out their mouths. While the older ones are more calm about it and find it quite funny to see how you handle them, probably subtly flirting with you during the process. It took a very long time but when you do manage to fix the issue you feel quite elated and proud of yourself. You've still got it! (A little bit. They helped you a bit when you weren't looking.)

I'm once again thinking about the missed opportunities to have Klaus and Kol bond more. Part of Klaus' whole motivation as a vampire is to get his werewolf part back and to finally be stronger than Mikael (sort of, I'm simplifying) both of which can be obtained by breaking his curse. But Kol? Kol is the only other original that can relate to having a fundamental part of themself ripped away from them. Klaus might not have known he was a werewolf until he killed, but he likely still had a connection he couldn't explain, as evident by him going to watch the wolves transform. And something he'd never been able to explain was now gone. He might only be able to realise the connection afterwards through its absence.
Kol though. Kol had grown up with magic, a connection to nature and the world around him in a way the rest of his siblings supposedly didn't have. And then he gets turned. And not only has his baby brother died, his father has just murdered him and the rest of his siblings after forcing them to drink human blood, which he'll later learn. Now, not only does he have to deal with the grief of Henrik's death and also his own but also the loss of his magic. A loss that's likely only worsened by Kol being a self-proclaimed child prodigy.
Kol is pretty much the only one who could understand what Klaus is going through with the binding of his wolf. We know Kol searched for ways to get his magic back/carry on practicing magic in the same way that Klaus was looking for ways to break his curse. While Klaus likely could still feel his wolf there despite being bound, Kol has no access to his magic anymore. I just think they should've been able to bond or connect over their shared loss of an intrinsic aspect of their selves at the hands of their parents
