P5X's New Character "Soy"(?)
So, since I can't find anyone writing out the character's known name characters for easy searching, I've had to do it myself with the help of a handwritten kanji identifier.
Everyone is saying his code name is "Soy", which is a very weird choice if true, so I'm trying to figure out if that actually is true. First, here's his Phantom Thief splash image:
The characters here are 版本前瞻:
The first two characters, 版本 (bǎnběn), are presumably his surname, assuming this is his actual person name. Comprised of "a register; a block of printing; an edition" and "roots/stems of plants; origin; source", together they mean "version" or "edition" in terms of published works (i.e. first edition, special edition, etc.). In Japanese, it refers to a woodblock print/a book published on woodblock.
The last two characters, 前瞻 (qiánzhān) are presumably his given name. Comprised of "front; forepart; in front; past" and "gaze; view", together they mean "to look ahead", "to foresee", "to predict".
In my opinion? That sounds an awful lot like "preview version". These are words, not people names. Which makes me suggest that this image we're seeing is using placeholder text in the splash image name template, and it accidentally made it into the finale trailer.
Here's an image of him talking as a normal person instead of as a Phantom Thief, with presumably his real name:
The characters here are 加纳 骏:
The first two characters are 加纳 (Jiānà), presumably his surname. Comprised of "to put on top of", "to increase", "to add" "to friend" (in terms of social media) and "to receive/accept", "to pay", "to enjoy", "to sew stitches closed", together they are the Chinese writing for the African country Ghana, with the characters being phonetic rather than meaningful (at least as far as Wiktionary tells me). In Japanese it's the surname Kanō.
The third character, 骏, is the simplified form of 駿 (jùn), meaning "excellent horse" or "noble steed". In Japanese this would be Shun.
Altogether, handsome blue-haired cowboy's real name seems to be Shun Kanō.
Nowhere in here do I find "Soy", unless that splash page text's characters all together somehow mean it. Where did that name come from?

Las películas sonoras de Buster Keaton son algo... complicadas de ver. Fue una etapa dificil para el talentoso actor y director, con un espantoso y nada conveniente contrato de por medio. Mientras que Charles Chaplin siguió produciendo películas mudas y reiventandose, para Keaton fue dificil adaptarse al medio sonoro. No porque rechazara al sonido, ya que en su última película como director Spite Marriage (1929) experimentó con efectos de sonido siendo que se estrenó con una partitura musical sincronizada con efectos de sonido (p. ej., risas, aplausos) utilizando tanto el proceso de sonido en disco como el de sonido en película.
Se trató de una buena película y demostró que Keaton podía enfrentarse a los cambios que estaba atravesando la industria. Pero los años posteriores a 1929, Keaton se vió despojado del control creativo de sus películas. Leí una vez a un espectador que lo resumió muy bien: es un poco como ver un animal magnífico en un zoológico, dijo.
Keaton sigue cautivando con su presencia porque es imposible que no lo hiciera, pero es triste de ver a una leyenda y un gran talento en una producción insulsa y sin corazón.
En este caso, Parlor, Bedroom and Bath (1931) o en español Recibidor, dormitorio y baño posee una trama muy tonta y aburrida y un humor nada trascendental. Aunque el humor es subjetivo y soy conciente que a muchas personas les resulta graciosa esta película, se tratan de chiste y escenas sin mucho dolor de cabeza detrás. A mí me resultó hasta grosero por demás. Si algo caracterizaba al cine de Keaton es su humor inteligente, que te hacía reir por sus remates impredecibles y su simpleza en lo aparentemente complicado. Además, en el cine de Keaton lo sentimental y el romanticismo es muy importante en la construcción de su personaje clásico y de las situaciones que lo acompañan. Siempre existe y prevalece el amor más puro e inocente, ya sea por una mujer o por una vaca (El rey de los cowboys, 1925). Aquí en cambio prevalece la obsenidad y el chiste fácil: el hombre poco varonil que no entiende el doble sentido y no se relaciona bien con las mujeres.
No recomiendo esta película, a nadie. Si eres fanático de Keaton como yo, te va a resultar tortuosa de ver por el desperdicio de talento de Keaton que, aunque algunos piensen que sea por su vejez, me niego a pensar que así sea porque en uno de sus últimos filmes The Railroader (1965) sigue siendo exquisito.
