hi miru! i'm a bit of a newbie to the whole lorax fandom (i've only been in it for like a year) and i wanted to ask if you know anything about the truffula tree flu au?? there are so many au's in this community i can't keep track of them all nor do i understand any of them ;-;

Hi! Yes, I know many, many things about it! It is one of the biggest AUs of the fandom, started in 2012, and I watched everything unfold very closely and kept up with every blog. I also started rping in it myself in 2018 when it had its revival and I still rp in it to this day.

Truffula Flu is a zombie apocalypse AU, the premise is that once upon a time, a certain Once-ler decided to genetically modify the trees in his valley to produce rare tuft colours that glowed, but he accidentally created an infection instead that turned animals rabid when they ate the trees' fruit (and fungi that grew on the trees also released infectious spores into the air). The animals then bit people and the people became zombies.

Every Once-ler OC has their own little plot of land based on the movie but they're like, all connected in our fandom AUs such that you can walk to each of their worlds/realms if you wanted to. So the infection spread physically that way, across different onceler valleys. Non-lorax OCs can also join the AU, all you have to do is pretend that the infection had spread physically to their realm, too. The Once-ler fandom has always been good about letting anyone join so all realms are connected wooooo!!

The AU in 2012-2014 was dominated by Camp Entre's story but everyone is highly encouraged to rp with their friends to create their own plots together, whether public or private. In the 5th and 6th tweets in that thread you can find out more about the mechanics of the AU and the infection, it's super interesting!!
