The sound production in this show is horrible. Everything is completely intentional but it is detracting from the story. Not that the story is any good but the show didn’t have to be this bad. The sound production during the scene with Three and Jack could have been so good and so poignant but the random cartoony sounds didn’t allow for any depth of character to show through.

Compare that to Cher's conversation about love with Zo. That was a nice, poignant moment of introspection and reflection. Was it the best in the world? No. But it was nice and it wasn't ruined by sound effects detracting from the moment.

And I understand what the sound production is trying to do. They are trying to make this show sound like a video game and it's not working. I’ve heard some 8 bit music and some music that sounds like it could be in a platformer but this would work much better if the focus of the show had actually been video games. We’ve barely seen Cher play. We know they’re working on a game but they only mention that every so often even though giant plot points are supposed to be about games (Thyme, the mole, the esports competition, Cher’s gaming channel). There’s so much and yet somehow it’s not the focus of the show. There’s no focus on anything because the show keeps introducing plots and then doing nothing with them.
