What kind of lovers do you attract/ are attracting?
Tumblr media
How to choose a pile?
Take a deep breath and gently close your eyes. Politely request your spirit guides to reveal the appropriate pile meant for you, then open your eyes. Whichever pile captures your attention is the one meant for you.

Pile 1
Your energy has this amazing superpower to heal, like a magic balm for broken hearts. It's no wonder people are drawn to you like bees to honey. You're like a walking oasis of comfort for those who've had their share of love's bumps and bruises. Those you attract are the creative types, the ones who think outside the box and color outside the lines. You've got this magnetic pull for guitar-strumming, canvas-painting, poem-writing folks. You know, those artsy souls who've often danced with heartache. It's like your aura says, "Hey, bring on the creatives!" Your magnetism doesn't stop at artists. Nope, it goes all the way to the bank, you attract some deep-pocketed darlings. Money? Not an issue for them, they've got it going on. And oh boy, strength? Both mental and physical? It's like you've got this fiery aura that's a total strength magnet. And hold onto your hats because popularity is part of your package deal. You snag the ones who are well-liked, the ones everyone wants to hang around. It's like you've got this neon "cool people only" sign that shines super bright. The people you draw in might be total opposites of you. I know, wild, right? But hey, life's all about surprises.
Tumblr media
Pile 2
So, this is my personal pile of hopeless romantics. Get ready, because the lovers you're pulling in? They're just like you. You're like a magnet for those total dreamers, the ones who see love as this magical, larger-than-life adventure. You know those who could fall in love with the idea of falling in love. Yep, that's who's knocking on your heart's door. You're also attracting a bunch of daydreamers , those people who view love through these super rosy glasses. It's like they're lost in this fairytale, and they're looking for their partner to be the co-star in their romantic movie of life. And guess what? Your energy is like a beacon for the brainiacs too. You're snagging those who are smart, logical, and always ready with a dose of sensible advice. They're a blend of both worlds. It's like they've got this epic tug-of-war between their dreamy side and their practical side, and you're right in the middle of that sweet balance. They might not be super experienced in the love department. It's like they're all about that puppy love, that innocent and genuine kind of affection. So, whether you're nodding your head like, "Yeah, that's me," or you're like, "Wait, what?" this is your magnetic vibe.
Tumblr media
Pile 3
You've got this power to pull in super dedicated lovers. They're the ones who are all about their hustle, totally work-oriented, and maybe even more focused on their projects than on matters of the heart. But hold on tight, because you've also got a thing for those who date with marriage in mind. No casual hookups for you , it's all about those who are in it for the long haul. Now, let's talk about down-to-earth vibes. The ones you attract, They're as grounded as a sturdy oak tree. It's like they've got their feet planted firmly on the ground, which makes for a really solid connection. And speaking of connections, you're kind of a magnet for the old-school romantics. Yep, you're attracting those who've got a dash of old-fashioned love in their style. It's like they're straight out of a vintage love story. The lovers you're drawing in are all about stability and commitment. Heartbreak? Not on their agenda. These are the ones who are ready for the real deal, a relationship with a rock-solid foundation. So, if you've been worried about love's rollercoaster, fret not. Your vibe is all about that steady, unshakeable connection.

Regarding fandoms and comments, I've recently had negative comments that tell me I'm not good and should just quit writing. Well, it worked. I no longer am able to write without it affecting my mental state. People who do the bullying do it to get rid of authors they don't like that doesn't fit their mindset. When does it end? I didn't want it to hurt my mental health and get me to quit, but it did.
People treating each other badly whenever they can never ceases to make me sad.
I try to think the quote "hurt people hurt people" when dealing with negative people. Happy, balanced people, who view others as their equals, have no need to leave negative comments, send hate messages etc. to others just because they can.
Take a little break but don't let anyone stop you from doing what you love! I try to keep this mentality and I always think about how Billy Idol (80's famous singer) just kept pushing forward whenever someone or something said no to him:
When he was a child, he wanted to play a guitar. Parents said "No, you can only play a violin" -> Billy secretly got himself a guitar with 5£ at the age of 9 and learned to play it by himself.
His teenage girlfriend dyed his hair white. Everyone said it looked horrible on him -> Billy kept the white hair and made it his trademark.
He discovered punk and FINALLY managed to put a band together in his late teens. Too bad that London, where he lived, had closed all bars and pubs from punk bands. They weren't legally allowed to play anywhere. -> Billy and a few other guys established their own place for all punk bands, where all where welcome to play.
He went to university to study music. He was bullied and ostracized by other students as he was too weird, too freaky looking and listened to punk instead of jazz -> He was lonely but staid in the school and kept his looks and music taste.
He started to dislike being a band member and wanted to have a solo career. Everyone said you can't make it, you suck, you can't make compose a shit -> Billy decided to start a solo career as Billy Idol anyway.
When he started to get a little footing in the Europe, he decided that he wants to go to USA. It would give him better markets and more chances to succeed. Too bad that Europe's most famous punk band, Sex Pistols, has just epically failed in their attempts to make it in the USA. America hated punk and Billy Idol was nobody compared to Sex Pistols. Everyone called him delusional for having such stupid dreams. -> Billy went to USA anyway
In America, all record labels he went to said the same thing; you will never make it here. You sing punk and we hate it. You sing with British English and we hate it. You look so fucking ugly that no one will come to see you. If you want to succeed here, you need to change your music style for radio friendly stuff, change your accent and change your looks. -> Billy thought that if singing with American accents helps, he does it. Otherwise, fuck you. This is the music he wants to do and this is his style and how he wants to look. -> This decision led him to become super famous. Everyone loved his music and the fucking ugly guy became one of the 80's sex symbols, and his music videos were literally directed to sell with sex to the female audience.
Also, it was told him with dead certainty by many people that your music will never play in radios. EVER. Well, what do you know, his music still plays in the radios, 40 years later :3
So, keep going! Keep writing! There's audience for every single style out there and just because some asshat wasn't impressed, it doesn't mean others wouldn't like your stuff.
I mean, how much emphasis do we want to put into asshats words anyway? Which matters more; some random asshat's feelings or our own joy and inspiration when we do something creative?

Hi! I hope you're having a great day or night :)
Theres a question I've been wanting to ask for a few days now so I might aswell ask you now.
What's your thoughts on the Clone Wars (2003) 2D Micro-Series and the Clone Wars Multimedia Project?
I heard some Star-Wars Fans say that they prefer the Multi-Media Project and Clone Wars 2003 over the 2008 Clone Wars and think that it fits better in the Prequel Trilogy Continuity than Clone Wars 2008, so I'm curious on what's your take?
So I only ever watched like half of the 2003 Clone Wars show, which I think is what you're calling the 2D Micro-Series that aired between AOTC and ROTS in very short like 2-3 minute installments, so my opinion of it is obviously somewhat limited since I never saw the entire thing. I was watching it on YouTube I think very shortly before it got put onto Disney+ and the last half ended up unavailable before I could go see it and I haven't gone back to finish it because I figure I've kind-of gotten the gist.
Which I guess tells you something of my opinion on it on its own.
I don't dislike it by any means, but I think that the 2003 Clone Wars show is, by its nature, VERY different from the 2008 show. It doesn't take itself even HALF as seriously as the 2008 show does, which means that the stakes are very low and I as the audience can give it a lot more leniency on a lot of things. I'm not EXPECTING these big epic storylines in the 2003 show because that just, quite simply, isn't what it's made for. The 2008 show on the other hand clearly WANTS to be taken seriously most of the time and definitely takes ITSELF more seriously, especially in later seasons where it definitely hits on some heavier topics. So as a viewer, especially an adult one, I tend to sort-of analyze it with the perspective that it's a show that does WANT to be taken seriously to some degree and it wants me to feel things more than a slight thrill at the cool visuals.
So I had some good fun watching some of those early 2003 episodes, like the Mace Windu one and the original Kit Fisto on Mon Cala episode, etc. It's a silly show with some silly little storylines in a fun 2D art style.
But, while there are a LOT of things I think the 2008 show did badly and missed the mark on, there's also a lot of things they ADDED to the worldbuilding that I really love and some genuinely emotional storylines that have stayed with me. In particular, the clones. I don't think anything truly gave the clones the real character and pathos that the 2008 show did, I LOVE the way they were written in 2008, I love how much they want the AUDIENCE to care about them and the nuances added to the characters in how they view themselves and the galaxy and their place in it, I love their relationships with the Jedi, and I love the addition of the chips in the sense that I really like the way it changes Order 66 into this additional tragedy for the clones and the way their fate parallels the Jedi's. They would always mean each other's doom, but it also meant that their people were intertwined from the beginning and this was actually something all of them really cared a lot about and genuinely loved and appreciated, which just makes Order 66 THAT MUCH MORE TRAGIC (and I'm an angst ho so I love that shit). And I am of the firm opinion that the Umbara arc is the best-written storyline in the entire show, hands down, I would rather have the Umbara arc even if it means having the rest of TCW along with it than not have the Umbara arc at all, that's how much I love it. It's heart-wrenching and difficult and visually stunning and complicated and one of the very few storylines that allows the clones to truly shine.
And I like that the 2008 show was able to give a little more depth to some of the Jedi side characters in a way the 2003 show just couldn't (I recognize comics often did more with these characters, but we're not talking about those right now lol). In particular I'm thinking of Shaak Ti and Aayla and Ki-Adi-Mundi and Mace and Luminara and Adi and Eeth and Kit. Barriss of course got treated better in 2003 than in 2008, sadly, but GENERALLY the Jedi characters who got even one or two episodes of focus in the 2008 show got treated kindly and given some additional personality that I found really nice and gave me more Jedi characters to love. In 2003, we get to see them do some action-y stuff that's fun, but from what I saw, they don't necessarily get given super distinct personalities.
So, I guess, TL;DR, the 2008 show is able to do a lot more things regarding the Jedi and clone characters who had up until then remained pretty sidelined that the 2003 show did not, but the more in-depth storylines of the 2008 show invite a deeper analysis of it sometimes that it doesn't always live up to for me while the 2003 show remains a fun, light-hearted, silly romp that can be enjoyed for what it is.
If there's more to the "Clone Wars Multimedia Project" just assume I don't know what it is and haven't seen it so I have no real opinions on it.

And so, with that, we conclude Captain America Vol 1. (1968-1996) I'll give a short sum up for anyone who doesn't want to jump below the cut. This volume is a classic. A 30 year epic that prospered under the hands of some of the best in the business and under the mind of one creative genius in particular who shaped and defined our understanding of one of the greatest characters in the Marvel canon. From the heaving ruckus of the Marvel 60s to the stumbling aftermath of the 90s Dark Age, Captain America shared some of the greatest moments, stories and emotions that you could ever pick off a rack. I thought I appreciated Cap before. I know much, MUCH better now. If you're interested in my thoughts on breaking the book down into eras, or want a sneak peak at the next Marvel book on the list. Peek below.
Tumblr media
ERA 1, THE SIXTIES: What can even be SAID about Marvel in the 60s? A constant flooding river of new ideas tossed thick and fast one right after the other in a verbose style that we joke on because we love it. This was a foundational stepping stone of the modern comic book and Captain America is no exception. Weird science, kirby dots, story straining with a countercultural need to be about something, to turn into something people had never seen before and yet still with a casual familiarity that mad the bullpen feel like a gaggle of college yucksters making it up as they went along. Often imitated, never duplicated, Captain America in the 60s had about 5 too many Sleeper storylines but an energy that kept me hopping along gladly.
Tumblr media
ERA 2, THE FALCON:
Words can hardly describe the breath of fresh air that Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon represented. Cap in the 60s could on run on that early Marvel energy for so long before the Bronze Age crept in and it needed something new, something modern, something that gave the stories some meat to sink into. Sam Wilson was that and more, a new perspective to every story that kept Captain America honest in how his symbol was viewed and accepted from the ground up by marginalized communities, not to mention someone who could bounce ideas and banter off Steve in every sense. There's a reason they become one of, if not THE enduring duo of equals in Marvel's canon. Captain America and The Falcon will always have a special resonance to anyone who knows them and this run getting it right the first time is why. Plus, cute birb.
Tumblr media
ERA 3, THE BROOKLYN ERA:
With the 80s came a new style, a new grit and reality that came with New York's growth or degeneration depending on how you look at it. Urban sprawl and smog became a constant backdrop and ideas of street crime and urban decay become frightening realities for the residents. So Captain America was forced to confront and integrate himself into that new reality. He got an apartment, he got a job, he got a girlfriend, he lived in a tenement with people who lived and worked and toiled the same way he did. It's the closest he's ever come to being a Spider-Man style street level hero, fighting the ills of a world that feels real and tactile all around him.
Tumblr media
ERA 4, EARLY GRUENWALD:
Now we get to the core of this volume, a single writer and creative that would steer the ship of defining Captain America to the largest extent since his original creators. Mark Gruenwald. A writer who had every idea of how one examined, deconstructed, reconstructed and puzzled with the inherent questions and contradictions inherent in the Sentinel of Liberty. Never does the comic go any length of time without making Cap question who he is and what his purpose is. It's an era that feels like nothing so much as building momentum, creating an engine to tell stories about a fascinating man and the fascinating people around him, never one to shy away from beloved secondary heroes like Nomad, D-Man and Steve's supporting cast like Bernie Rosenthal or Arnie Roth.
Tumblr media
ERA 5, THE JOHN WALKER ERA:
Gruenwald's masterstroke, making Captain America look a modern, cynical world in the eye and ask "who am I, what is my purpose, and what does my symbol mean in a world where freedom and America are not synonymous terms." Not content to JUST look at that through Steve's eyes, the character of John Walker (Later USAgent) is a dark reflection of Steve that asks him what the consequences would be if his patriotism become jingoism by even one degree over the line. Forcing Steve to define for himself what kind of American ideal he is fighting to protect and what he's willing to sacrifice to back it up when the American Dream and the American Reality couldn't be further apart.
Tumblr media
ERA 6, LATER GRUENWALD: Established with a world class storyline under its belt and nothing left to do but hit the gas and see where it goes, the later Gruenwald era is an expression of the joyous fun that can be taken from a comic that takes itself dramatically but not too seriously. New villains, new twists and pulling old favorites out of mothballs it's a comic that can go anywhere and do anything under an established writer who knows the character like the back of his hand. The Bloodstone Hunt, Capwolf, Superia. The kind of consistently good storytelling you can only get from a comic that has comfortably gotten into a once in a lifetime kind of groove.
Tumblr media
ERA 7, THE @#$%^& 90S:
Like any comic that runs long enough in certain period of time, any good groove is going to run head first into the 90s and end up breaking its nose. I won't lie or sugarcoat it in the name of preserving the book's legacy. The armor storyline and everything surrounding it is ROUGH. The art is ugly, the power armor is dumb and the entire series seems content to wallow in a sense of its own cleverness for examining Cap physically in ways Gruenwald topped 100x over by taking the character apart mentally and emotionally. I WILL say however, that if you honestly meet this era's emotions on their level, if you're able to get past its flaws, you find that that Gruenwald spark is still right where it was. The new additions, Free Spirit and Jack Flag show promise in the mold of Cap's partners of old and the issue where Cap confronts his own mortality is truly poignant.
Tumblr media
ERA 8, CURTAIN CALL:
Outside of the helm of Gruenwald for the first time in more than 10 years, it's easy to see that the series can't last too much longer in its current form. These issues are all about setting up something new, forcing Cap out of the comfortable spot he's made for himself and confronting an oncoming millennium with the sobering realization that this continuous stream must come to an end to plant something new. Returns of old concepts but with a millennial sheen that gives a hope for the future, it truly feels like the passing of the torch from the old guard to a new one that would take on the Event Comics era and the modern Marvel landscape one way or the other.
Tumblr media
CONCLUSION, A LIVING LEGEND:
Captain America is a classic character. We all know it however as a fixture of the universe's main superhero team it's often hard to really frame him in your mind as a character in his own right with his own, independent stories to tell and a timeline that's rich and begging to be mined outside of The Avengers. Gruenwald forged a new path for Cap, dozens of other creators from 3 decades of Marvel comics reaching in to lend a hand to the tapestry of one of the true legends of comics. A story that twists, turned and sometimes stumbled but never the less kept itself to one, truly unalterable standard. Legendary. For those of you interesting in what Marvel book comes along next...Follow me on a journey to the Hyborean Age.

One time my writing workshop that I recommend to everyone (they have online courses and a free podcast!) had sci-fi author David Brin as a guest lecturer and he gave some advice to new writers that has been living in my head rent-free ever since.
He said, first time writers should consider having their first novel be a murder mystery.
The reason being as follows:
Mysteries require a great deal of structure to work properly.
They also teach one a great deal about how to build a plot, especially around characters who want something (like: to solve the mystery or to not get caught)
How to have conflict and tension that grows out of each scene,
How we're introduced to characters, and finally,
How everything must build to a satisfying conclusion in which attentive readers are just a little bit ahead and casual readers discover the solution and see all the clues laid out in a satisfying manner in retrospect.
And it's a great genre for bringing in a friend to see whether or not you achieved the goal of laying out the clues properly, because it is in fact impossible to do on your own (this is true of most things in writing, but it's a bit more subtle when trying to tell if other stuff like romance has landed properly).
Putting a cut here to go over some popular examples and how writers can learn from them to improve their stories.
And the more I thought about this advice, the more I realized just how many of the most popular genre works of recent years had a mystery (whether or not it's a murder they're solving) as the way to drag the audience into the story, at least at the beginning, even if the plot then evolves into something else midway, because mystery is also an excellent way to dump exposition because it's all about finding out the truth.
The Winter Soldier film, in addition to being a Bourne-style action thriller set in the Marvel universe, has a strong plot through-line of "Who "killed" Nick Fury? Who is the Winter Soldier?" which gets us through a good chunk of the film that would otherwise be a slog of exposition and it works so well.
The first three Harry Potter books are actually very well structured mysteries. I've argued for ages that Book 4 onward is where Rowling lost the mystery plot structure to the series' detriment, the plots ballooned, and the whole thing got quite sloppy (this in addition to her reprehensible views, to be clear, I've been a critic of her structure in stories for quite some time short version: she's very bad at it when not grafting onto a school year).
The first Game of Thrones book and S1 revolved around Ned Stark as our primary protagonist seeking out the answer to the mystery of Who Killed The Hand of the King and Why - revealing the deeper mystery of Joffrey's lineage and setting up the events that eventually led to his execution. AND, by the way, that's PART of why Ned's execution was so shocking and effective: GRRM borrowed from the murder mystery genre to build a portion of his plot around, and then disrupted it by killing the investigator which as the POV character generally speaking very rarely happens in mysteries, which made it an even bigger and more effective shock for readers when Ned, who seemed to have plot armor on many levels, dies thus reinforcing the theme of "You win or you die" and the brutal chaos of the GoT world.
What I think makes all 3 of these very popular examples so effective is the blend of genre. Murder mysteries are tantalizing but they do sometimes fail to answer the "So what?" of one person dying in a small town. But combine the murder mystery structure, which demands so much of its writer and is so effective at dragging the reader along through the hardest part of introducing them to your world, with a genre that is better at answering the "So what?" like epic fantasy or action thriller, and now you've got a very effective combination for entertaining an audience.

11-12-23 Frankenweenie (2012) Very cute but disappointing ending, too safe. It could have been more impactful if they pushed it further. Watched this after corpse bride and the parallels were FUNNY.
11-18-23 The Wizard Of Oz (1939) (old rewatch). The real life abusive filming process makes this movie Hard to Enjoy with peace of mind- but the finished product is truly groundbreaking and whimsical
11-20-23 The Bourne Identity (2002) AWESOME THRILLER ACTION MOVIE EHEHE
11-21-23 Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) unpopular opinion - the movie suffers when you don’t see it in its original intended form (in a movie theater . In 1977.) I SWEAR. I STILL ENJOYED IT THOUGH. ….
11-22-23 Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me (1998) SO SILLY but mean spirited/offensive humor at times. ITS AUSTIN POWERS…
11-23-23 Monsters University (2013) (rewatch) MOST UNDERRATED DISNEY SEQUEL/PREQUEL. FUN AND IMPACTFUL COLLEGE FRIENDSHIP MOVIE
11-25-23 Wreck-it Ralph (2012) (rewatch AGAIN.) haha
12-1–23 Isle of Dogs (2018) Incredibly unique/distinct presentation style. My friend who’s a Japanese major loves this movie. MUST WATCH
12-1-23 Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009) another silly goofy little dysfunctional family unit, a bit yikes at some parts but overall pretty lighthearted. It was cool seeing this immediately after isle of dogs cuz you could see the inspiration in the visuals between the two
12-8-23 The Mitchell’s vs. The Machines (2021) silly robot apocalypse family road trip movie with AMAZING visuals (everyone in the family is autistic)
12-17-23 Prancer (1989) Unexpectedly heartwarming movie about a little girl helping an injured reindeer. VERY SWEET and great message about the impact of kindness and the wonders of being a child. MADE ME CRY.
12-18-23 Wreck-it Ralph (2012) (3rd REWATCH) get a hold of yourself oh my god ‼️
12-19-23 The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) (rewatch) classic muppet Christmas movie :)
12-22-23 The Muppets (2011) (old rewatch) SURPRISINGLY CATCHY SONGS and a silly muppet movie. Fun to revisit. Tex Richman my beloved
12-23-23 Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964) Mediocre writing and mean spirited at times <3 BUT ITS A CLASSIC. so ofc i liked it
12-24-23 Tangled (2010) (old rewatch) I forgot how good this movie was. ACTUALLY PEAK and so fun to revisit. Such a fresh take on a fairytale story, great songs, amazing romance, and also empowering about overcoming an abusive parent … MUST WATCH!!!
12-26-23 Klaus (2019) (rewatch) it’s so great to see a new 2D animated movie come out, and such a great story too. Cute origin story of Christmas and POSTAL WORKER APPRECIATION!!!!!
12-31-23 Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) (rewatch) started off the year with this movie and then ended with it! What a treat!! I even wrote a short essay about it 1 semester ago :)
———————
In conclusion, I love movies !!! But my favorite movies are those that are confident in their identities and don’t hold back. Like share your message to the fullest !!!!
I watched a lot of stop-motion movies this year. I wanna watch more studio ghibli movies next year
And maybe I should purposefully try watching bad movies… it might make me appreciate good ones more and easier see what they do right. But also. I really dont wanna watch ralph breaks the internet.

Voiceplay Visuals: In The Air Tonight
Now this is a song that many people know, at least partially! Even if the name doesn't ring a bell for you, you almost definitely know the part that some people call "one of the most iconic drumlines in music", so really it's no surprise that this was an arrangement from The Human Drumkit himself, Mr Layne Stein! Voiceplay's cover of In The Air Tonight premiered on YouTube on the 17th of June, 2023, and features J None, back again! I will of course say more about the video when we actually get into it, so let's go!
Tumblr media
Apparently the style/aesthetics of this video plays homage to a classic 80s cop show called Miami Vice, which used the song "In The Air Tonight" in its pilot episode, in a scene which (so I've heard) has been referred to by some as one of the most iconic in the history of television.
(Also the car belongs to Layne's dad, and likely would have been sitting in the garage since the early days of 4:2:Five, at least)
Tumblr media
J looking very cool and fresh in that red blazer! (Reminds me of the Walk Like A Man section of the Boy Band Medley!)
Tumblr media
Geoff is, once again, the only bare-shouldered/sleeveless one of the group! (A back-to-back occurrence if you don't count the Peaches video!) (Also peep the necklace!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A cool audiovisual effect thing to transition into the "modern-day" filming style!
Cesar is vibing, and Eli is back at it again with the unworn-sunglasses-as-accessory!
Tumblr media
Cool necklace! And he's got earrings, too!
Tumblr media
I won't lie, this may be one of my favourite Geoff Looks of 2023. It's not even anything particular about the outfit, he just looks so pretty in this one! (And his hair is looking very nice here, too 👀😁)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand"
Of course I had to acknowledge Cesar's powerful side-eye here! Like seriously, if anyone ever asks you what a side-eye is, just show them this moment! 👌
Tumblr media
Group shot!
I believe I read a comment somewhere saying this was filmed outside PattyCake Productions or something, like outdoors? And apparently it was a bit warm outside, especially with the lighting rigs, but if they were sweating/partially melting at all during this, you really can't tell! They did great!
(And shoutout to both Layne and Tony for set design and direction!)
Tumblr media
Cesar never fails to put his whole self into his performances, and I love it every time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Voiceplay love adding brief little moments like this into their videos sometimes, just to keep things interesting and/or keep viewers on their toes 😄
Tumblr media
Get it, Layne! Go off!
I wanna post screencaps from Geoff's little vocal solo and/or Layne's epic drumline-recreation immediately after, but still images don't do either justice! Go (re)watch it yourself!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I been waiting for this moment, for ALL my liiife!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The retro filming style/aesthetic is back! Happening so quickly and smoothly that you would be forgiven if you didn't immediately pick up on it! (*cough*)
Tumblr media
Sure, why not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Well I been waiting for this moment, for all my life, oh loooooo o r r r d d"
(Pretty Boy!!!!!)
Tumblr media
J None is freaking amazing, and I really hope he becomes a permanent Voiceplay member again someday; both he and Cesar are fantastice vocalists and performers, and they both have vocal ranges wide enough that they can both easily take the role of baritone and/or tenor!
In my opinion, the original song does not really start getting interesting until the "bass drop" drumline like 3 minutes into the song, but Voiceplay's cover is not even close to dull for a single moment! We get incredible vocals from everyone in this one (and I didn't talk about Eli much at all here, but vocally he was of course phenomenal), and the arrangement has a fair few complexities and interesting stuff to it, like the stomp-clap-click percussion moment which I still struggle to actually keep in time/on beat with! Definitely a very strong cover from Voiceplay, and frankly it's a crime that it "only" has 500k views on YouTube! It deserves a million! At least!

Touken Ranbu:  The Contradictory Tale of Genji
Part 3/3 - Overall Impressions:
On a technical level, the show is quality.  The main cast sang melodiously and music composition was suitable to the time period and mood of the show.  There was not so much dancing to judge but acting was superb.  Many actors had to play double roles such as anyone possessed by Genji or anyone on the Genji side of the plot.  The contrast was evident and well-done.  The child actor was very professional and I had no issue with her when I’m usually not impressed.  That was a pleasant surprise.  Set design was minimalist, which made for some creative setups but there were enough hints for the audience to suspend disbelief and jog their imagination.  The transitions were incredibly fast and most of it was done using a giant cloth sheet that represented a page of the novel that was waved about.
Of course, I loved the costumes.  Combined with the actors, they effectively brought the characters to life.  Ladies and lead role Nanami Hiroki got the best picks.  Akira got an epic evil costume in the end to represent Genji going rogue.  It was a chaotic costume by design with mostly Japanese silhouette but what’s with the Chinese style double skirt, armor design, and hairdo?  (jkjk lol) I suppose turning evil turns you into a jumbled mess of modern art.  The real moral here is treat your fictional world with care or risk it biting you back.
Now this is a sword show so naturally the fight choreography was incredibly smooth and stylistic while being cleanly executed.  Genji is no swordsman but a scholarly prince so his weapon was a fan that Akira wielded gracefully and skillfully in her fast-paced battles.  In fact, there was a lot of fan twirling and all done to perfection.  My praise is for the effortless ease actors were wielding fans.  I would expect them not to drop them as part of the job.
The overarching theme concerning the value of fiction was compelling.  When the creeper fan confronts Murasaki and later curses all of Kyoto, the five precepts of Buddhism is referenced.  Among these precepts is the prohibition against speaking lies or falsehoods, which encompasses anything ranging from thoughtless remarks to “great fictions.”  The fan praises the book but is worried that spreading of such an influential fictional work will result in leading people astray and thus Murasaki would be punished in the afterlife for her sins.  In fact, in medieval history a memorial service was held to rescue Murasaki’s spirit from Buddhist hell over this very matter.  One can take the traditional Buddhist interpretation of life being hell because life is suffering and impose it over the musical.  Therefore, the isekai is a type of trial.  Just as the Empress and other readers of The Tale of Genji are grappling with their reality through the novel, they are reliving the parts of the book they resonate with to find a solution to the problem in their lives.  An even darker interpretation is the ghosts of Heian-kyo are in purgatory by living in the fiction they became consumed with instead of being present in society.  During Murasaki’s time, the upper echelons of society were obsessed with the Cult of Beauty at the cost of governance and economy so was quite corrupt and detached from reality.  What more fitting punishment in the afterlife than eternity in their vapid world?  Perhaps the touken danshi stumbled upon such a purgatory.
There is also more contemporary views of fiction in this play.  Murasaki pushes back in the debate by respecting the intelligence of her fans and expressing the love she has for her writing and its very real value to herself.  Furthermore, her avid readership stand in solidarity by citing the novel’s beauty and meaning to their lives either as escapism or example.  Here we see more modern values on display with fiction enriching and enhancing reality or supporting readers through their struggles and triumphs.  One can also glean commentary about parasocial relationships as well with Murasaki’s interactions with her fanbase and the fans’ earnest love of a fictional character.  In short, this is a story about the influence and impact of stories on people and how wonderfully weird and beautiful that relationship is.
The story I enjoyed a lot.  Many videogame and anime musicals are shallow cash-grabs but this one went out to tell a meaningful story.  I respect that.  I’m even tempted to buy the DVD lol.  Not like there’s any merch left anyways.  All that sold out before the curtains even rose.

end credits ?? this is also a new one for me but im in LURV. i really like it. im gonna cry. and these songs rlly could relate to either that pt 2 scenario or the series itself like “but this is how it goes / the end credits, they roll” u can’t tell me that doesn’t immediately make u think of tje tlou 2 scenario. right. ??? im not losing it.BUT THEN YOUVE GOT “all i ever wanted was sunlight and honesty” and adn “cause all i need is time and now / and i could leave this past behind me” SCREAMINGGGGGGG. i also just really like this song in itself so thank u for these wonderful suggestions
just a man , initial thoughts r joel coded. im writing this as i listen so you’re getting my live reactions. it could also be like. tommy and maria coded but we know i lvoe joel. “will these actions haunt my days / every man i’ve slain? / is the price i pay endless pain?” HELLO. this is so tlou 2 scenario 4 joel idc. “WHEN DOES A MAN BECOME A MONSTERRRRR?” howl you knew what you were doing with this one. don’t think i don’t see you. Y ARE YOU MAIKING ME SAD!!!
falling .. this one i know. i too had a harry styles phase ok. (again sorry to niall horan). you didn t ask for this but be prepared for unnecessary relating it to parts of the series. “forget what i said / its not what i meant” joel when he said me and ellie not you. you see where im going ?!?! “what if im someone you wont talk about? / i’m falling again” joel when he knows how much he f ed up. r hates him. SHE HATES. “and the coffee’s out” joel when that bag of coffee beans runs out and he has none left. heheheh. “what am i now? / what if im someone i don’t want around?” joel. joel at all points ever. joel when he sees r again after the first part. joel when ellie finds out you know what. joel when he. “and i get the feeling that you’ll never need me again” lets not go into a deep dive about the character of joel and how he has ALWAYS had somebody relying on him, somebody needing him. but i would. i want to. i must calm.
again you didnt ask for this but i love song recs and going into way too much detail about how well they fit even when i am not asked to. alas.
HOWL I LOVE YOU I HOPE YOU’RE DOING WELL <333

15 Things I Actually Like/Love in Multiverse of Madness
Since yesterday was a certain someone’s birthday, I figured I’d make a post I’ve been sitting on for awhile.
I’ve made no secret of the fact I have mixed opinions about Multiverse of Madness and have gone into great detail about my issues with the film. Hell, I’ll probably have more to say when the “Art of” book comes out in September. But at the same time, there’s a lot that I like or love in MoM so, why not post my musings?
Here we go!
1. Stephen’s Arc - Like I’ve said before, I have issues with how incomplete Stephen’s story feels in this movie, but I do like that he learns to start embracing love in all its forms and is open to being a bit more vulnerable.
2. Stephen & America’s Friendship - Not much to say here; their friendship is very sweet and I wouldn’t be surprised if, when we get to DS3, it’s revealed Stephen adopted America off-screen and she’s now living in the Sanctum with him. Which means he has someone to talk to other than Cloakie.
3. Sinister Strange - Again, not a surprise here if you’ve been following my blog. Yeah, I know not much is given to the character (I wish he’d been the villain if they didn’t wanna go with Nightmare), but he’s wonderfully portrayed and lots of fun to watch. Speaking of which...
4. Music Fight! - Come on! You’ve got two Stephens throwing magic music note projectiles at each other, with the music being Beethoven vs. Bache. How does that not win best fight scene of the movie!? Also, I don’t care how on the nose Sinister’s music selection is. When you’ve all but implied you wanna force yourself on your ex, you’ve pretty much confirmed you’re evil.
5. The Apple Orchard Scene - Call me crazy, but I actually really like the scene on the Apple Orchard and I think it’s one of the better written scenes in the movie. It’s still bogged down by the problems the film’s plot has, but I do think it’s basic structure and dialogue are fine. Not to mention it does a good job showing Stephen’s softness. Plus, Wanda’s hair in a braid is really cute! She should wear it like that more often. Speaking of my boy...
6. How Soft Stephen is in this Movie - People both in and (especially) outside fandom love to act like Stephen’s an arrogant douche and call it a day. And yeah, they’re right; Stephen is a jerk. He’s also a big softie who’s slowly learning to show that softness to others, and I think that NWH and this film, especially, do a good job at conveying he has a heart beneath his snarky demeanor. Mind you, I think that’s Ben’s influence seeping through, not Waldron’s, but my point still stands.
7. Rintrah - Big Himbo Minotaur I’ve been waiting to see on the big screen! Hate that most of his subplot was cut but maybe he’ll get a bigger role in the next one.
8. Clea - I’ve...gushed enough about Clea as it is, so I’ll keep it brief; Holy shit! The rumors about Charlize being Clea were true and we FINALLY have Stephen’s wife in the MCU! Let the epic star-crossed romance begin!!!
9. The Music - I originally wasn’t crazy about Danny Elfman’s score the first time around, but in subsequent viewings, it’s grown on me. My favorite tracks are the main title theme and (of course) Lethal Symphonies.
10. Dead Strange - I mean...you’ve got Stephen puppeting a zombie variant of himself with a cape made of damned souls, doesn’t get more metal/comic bookie than that! Also, I do love watching Sam Raimi rip off himself with the way zombie Stephen rises from the grave like something out of Evil Dead.
11. The Cinematography - I’ve said before I think this is a beautifully shot film and I meant it. Raimi has a good eye for visuals and I love that Marvel allowed him to break from their in-house style, because there’s some really great camerawork in this film! The Evil Dead zoom-ins that are tilted on a Dutch Angle, Wanda coming through the gong ala The Ring, Stephen’s face in his broken watch, the entrance to Sinister’s sanctum, the multiverse scene which is basically one, continuous long take? You can say whatever you want about this film, but you can’t deny that it’s beautifully made.
12. The Parkour Fight - I love it when Stephen uses his brains to defeat his enemies, and this is such an instance.
13. I love you in every universe - I think this one speaks for itself.
14. Donna Strange - Again, I absolutely hate they ignored making this into a plot point (especially when it would’ve so easy to do), but I do love the monologue itself. Not only is well acted, but you can tell from how choked up Stephen is over it that yes, the loss of his sister was and is still very painful for him. I also love Sinister’s response, “But we don’t talk about that, do we?”. It says so much about the wound Donna’s left on her brother’s heart, even after all this time. We needed more nuanced moments like that in this film.
15. Stephen being Extra Pretty - I know I’ve been gushing about since we got the official trailer last winter but my GOD is Stephen beautiful in this movie!!! Yes, he’s always been pretty. But it’s like someone asked Raimi, “So how pretty do you want Stephen to be in this movie?”, and he responded with a resounding, “Yes.” Either way, it only confirms what I’ve been saying for awhile now; Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange is FUCKING HOT!!!
There! I listed fifteen things I like/love in this movie. Do with it what you will!
P.S. Also, I’m not listing Armani Strange as a separate item because it still technically counts as being part of Number 15.

2, 8 and 20 for the ocverse ask meme :3
2.) if you gave an in depth description of your story to someone who was not all the way paying attention, what would their takeaway be?
A: cruelty is a choice, and the strongest decision u can make is to be kind in a hostile world. also just accept yourself for who you are and stop trying to meet harmful expectations imposed upon u by people or society around u.
8.) what inspired your world building, if anything?
A: i think the biggest inspiration is misc. swedish media aimed at kids, generally folklore is pretty present there which inspired me to make it kind of a Crux in pareidolia. some specific inspirations from that when it comes to vibes are emil i lönneberga by astrid lindgren and pettson och findus by sven nordqvist - these are most relevant to the worldbuilding surrounding folke but yk. art by ppl like john bauer were also very present when i grew up and also depicted lots of folklore which has also inspired my focus on it.
now regarding the actual worldbuilding of creature species a lot of it is based on my Casual Interest In Animals so they often just gather traits/behaviours based upon misc animals. and ofc i gather from the actual folklore theyre based on. ive always liked concepts where the established idea of a creature or concept is different from how it is in reality, so thats what ive tended to aim for for most of the creatures.
20.) your ocverse just got a movie trilogy a la hunger games style. how have they horribly mangled your message/theme so that the movies are now a showcase of what the original was condemning?
A: arvo is 10x more horrible and commits even more crime and manipulates folke for arbitrary reasons completely knowingly and sets out to ruin shit for him for #fun. initially there is no jägarlyan present and arvo is just doing his thang on his own but he then joins up with them in the second movie or something. oh and he no longer acts immaturely sometimes, or genuine, now hes just a Cool and Quiet and Calculating Intimidating Villain for epic badass scenes. at the end folke calls the police and arvo gets arrested for poaching and several other felonies and spends the rest of his life in jail (again, i guess). alternatively selma or god forbid folke just kills him.
oh and they also completely delete all queerness from the narrative at all. arvo = untransed. folke = gets into a good christian heterosexual marriage after arvo is arrested or killed, at some point a forced female love interest was introduced to him to tell him to quit being friends with arvo. adrian = somehow 100% cis despite being part of a species with a very loose view of gender. freddie is definitely forced into sexual overtones with the women at jägarlyan.

HI POKE THANK YOU FOR THE ASKS :DD. I appreciate it :]. Meet my mnecraft ocs And also mnecraft not my ocs.

Vwoop:
😰 - when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?
FIGHT 90% OF THE TIME. If fighting is too much of an emotional task (it loves its loved ones too much to get mad :( ), it’ll fawn, but it is not running. It is fighting for its life out here. Like one of those easily scared small dogs. It is a known perpetrator of too-emotional arguing matches that go absolutely nowhere unless someone else steps in. When it feels it’s out of options it’ll start swinging. You know how it is.
📖- do they like reading? what's their favourite genre?
They love reading :D. They are totally normal about reading. They like generally lighthearted fiction, and view it as sort of anthropological. They were pretty isolated “growing up”, for lack of complexities, and love conceptual society. Did you know that in some worlds people would go to High Schools and partake in the ritual of Homecoming! <- very enthusiastically. They are also a MCRP OC and deeply care about a fictional mythologization of the DSMP consumed through like, a range of fantasy-adventure to epic style novelizations.

He can’t fall asleep easily because I need to draw him with the grumpy, dark circles. I do think he’d listen to like, ambient nature sounds to fall asleep, though.
🌕 - what is your oc's greatest wish? how far are they willing to go for it?
They want the aforementioned Vwoop, their pet/sibling/kid (it’s complicated) back. They learned magic and mad-science-ing to bring it back the first time, when it got lost, but then it left on purpose. He’d do whatever he had to, but he’s not quite sure what he can do about it this time.
Masquerade - I LIED ITS NOT A GUY BUT MY OCIFICIATION OF THE MASQUERADE TALES CHARACTERS but. You get butler specifically because these are both abt him actually <3
👻 - do they believe in ghosts? what are their "ghostly experiences", if any?
I think that Butler believes in ghosts as a sort of guilt, considering, you know, murdering people on the regular. He’s also very rarely clearheaded due to The Illnesses and The Possession so it would be very easy for him misinterpret things and think ah. Well. Vengeful ghosts might as well happen.
🌟 - what do they think about when they look at the night sky? is there someone they want to star gaze with?
I think Butler actively likes stargazing!! Originally I had this for him as a nod to the “moon” fanon but. I think it would just be nice and peaceful. He needs this. He likes the aloneness of it, too, but he would not be wholly opposed to company if Bill was quiet.

My WIPs
@solarsavoy wrote about her wips, and that got me thinking about mine. Unlike her, this isn’t so much to show you what my goals are, but what kind of plotbunnies are bouncing around in my brain at the moment…
Well, first of all, there’s of course those wips I’m already posting, and hopefully finishing some day soon(ish). Stress the word hopefully… >_> Caught Between, a Hikaru no Go fic with intersex Sai, and All the Gifts, Assassination Classroom fic inspired by The Girl with All the Gifts (which has been facing something of a writer’s block for a while, but good news for the readers: I started writing this again yesterday!)
Then, the unpublished wips (that are stealing all my attention). Don’t hold your breath waiting for any of these, though… they'll happen. Some year.
Untitled Assassination Classroom/Danganronpa crossover #1 I’m pretty excited about this one, but also slightly terrified. I mean, I’m afraid this fic’s going to be huge (in size, that is), and I technically know where it’s headed, but I’ve no idea how to reach that ending yet. ^^; I also have way too many characters in my hands (all assclass characters + all characters from the 3 DR games…) How many different povs can you have in one fic? I’ve now written some 6k of words, and I’m still far from what I consider the starting point of the fic. >_> It’s all just background stuff so far.
The starting point? It’s this: “Under the broken moon, Junko Enoshima laughed.”
(I feel like that sentence is a bit… overly dramatic or something, but I just like the image. XD)
Untitled Assassination Classroom/Danganronpa crossover #2 which is in fact a Koro Quest/Despair Dungeon crossover. I personally like this idea a lot and I’ve a clearer view of the plot than with the first crossover. I’ve written most of the first chapter, but the previous plotbunny’s demanding my attention right now…
Trying to come up with a title for this, I created one kinda in the style of the ridiculously long Victorian chapter titles: The Epic Tale of How Students of Two Grand Schools Set Aside Their Differences and Joined Forces to Combat Despair. Then, just for the sake of procrastination, I put that through several layers of google translate, and it turned into this: Breakups aside, a good story about two high school students struggling with depression.
Therefore, I’m thinking of this fic these days as Breakups Aside, just fyi. A working title? It has nothing to do with the plot, but so what.
And then there is Toilet-Bound Nagito-kun. Umm, does this need any explanation? xD Hajime has a wish, that’s all I’m saying about the plot. If you’ve played DR2, I’m pretty sure you know what that wish is. Something he’s desperate enough to realize that he’s sneaking into a girls’ bathroom in the middle of the night after an urban legend. This was inspired by a short clip on youtube. Don’t watch the video if you’ve not played DR2! No spoilers for Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, the clip’s from the very beginning of the anime. Here it is.
I thought this fic would just be a pointless, short one-shot, but now that I’ve reached what should have been the end, the characters suddenly want me to take this seriously, and I don’t know where I’m going with this anymore. >_> We’ll see.
Then, there’s two more additions to Mythologica (assclass retellings of various myths, that is) that for now exist only in my mind:
Helen of Troy which is nothing but a rom-com. Here’s the cast: Kanzaki as Helena, Sugino as Menelaus, Isogai as Odysseus, Ren as Paris of Troy, and basically the rest of 3-E guys (apart from Nagisa and Karma) as her other suitors. Oh, and Maehara is Penelope, i.e. Odysseus’s love interest. XD
Then there’s a very short ficlet idea with Hazama as Medusa. Inspired by the song Medusa by Heather Dale.
And some sequels:
The Haunting of Kunugigaoka, continuation to blind alley. Again, something I really want to write, but it exists only as a bunch of random ideas in my mind, atm. It’s not even a wip yet…
A sequel for Chika-go, crossover between Hikago and Dresden Files, still untitled (what a surprise!) I’ve only written very little of the beginning, and this is unlikely to be ever finished… but I like the first fic a lot and would love to write this someday. Hikaru returns to Chicago years later with Akira, just to find out that a lot has changed.
And oh damn, I’d forgotten about this one! A Dresden Files fic about Thomas. I seem to have written over 7000 words of it… I really have to finish this someday. There’s less than half left to be written, anyway.
That’s it, I guess? There might be some other random things, but they’re so unlikely to ever be realized that it’s not worth it to talk about them.

Ben 10 Omniverse: How does it hold up IMO?
Tumblr media
Yesterday I finished watching through the final installment of the classic Ben 10 continuity: Omniverse. This was actually the first time I watched through the series as I never viewed it when it was on the air. At that point I wasn’t watching TV cartoons in favor of YouTube videos and gaming on Steam. I did lurk on the news about it, though. I can still remember diehard UAF fans at the time unjustly ripping it to shreds for the changes it made, especially the art style. So after a decade since it premiered, I finally saw the series to completion. Overall, I would say that it is a good show although flawed (as is the case with each Ben 10 show). I actually like the art style that DJW (may he rest in peace)  brought to the series. It fits the more light-hearted yet still action-orientated nature of the show. I admit that I wasn’t a fan of some of the alien redesigns (Big Chill comes to mind), but others were an improvement over their originals (Jury Rigg comes to mind). The backgrounds were also quite detailed, showing some nice scenery throughout the various locations featured. As for the characters, it was a bit odd for Ben to again revert to his juvenile self after the events of UA, although he wasn’t as obnoxious about it compared to his AF season 3 characterization. While I do wish that we got more screen-time with Gwen and Kevin, Rook was definitely a favorite character of mine. I enjoy his can-do attitude despite being naïve about Earth culture. :) Some of the minor characters were enjoyable (such as Magister Patelliday) while others got a bit tiresome (Blukic and Driba), which brings me to my next point and my main criticism of the show: the comedy writing. Some running-gags got really stale and repetitive (especially Blukic and Driba’s bickering), while others just weren’t very funny to begin with. For example, making a joke out of why Julie and Ben broke up. That said, I can at least understand why they went with a more goofy tone: the ratings were down after UA’s more dramatic nature. Plus as someone who feels that UAF got melodramatic at times, I can appreciate a return to a tone of not taking itself too seriously. At least the overall plots were mostly good (with some poor ones here and there, like The Most Dangerous Game Show), and it was nice to see them expand upon established lore. The actions scenes usually had good choreography, which made them enjoyable most of the time. I do wish that there was a bit more of a epic finale, but what we got was a nice way to end the series, and setup an idea for a follow-up show (even though it never got made). I know this wasn’t the most concise review of the series. Maybe I could do more in-depth looks at different aspects, but for now I just wanted to share my overall thoughts on it. The bottom line, while this didn’t dethrone the OS as my favorite Ben 10 series, I still had a good time watching through it. Sure it had moments that were a bit cringeworthy (IMO) but nothing that made me hate it. I do like how people have overall come around to enjoying this series after it was ridiculed nearly all the time back then. So yes, I do think it’s an enjoyable series. :) If you want to read my thoughts on the OS and UAF, they can be found here: https://bluefire94.tumblr.com/post/658157827597156352/ben-10-2005-how-does-it-hold-up-imo https://bluefire94.tumblr.com/post/685610886708248576/ben-10-uaf-how-does-it-hold-up-imo
