im always scared to label myself with a religion, mostly of the fear of Somehow not doing it right Or not being welcome to it. But I think religionIs something to be interpreted because religion exists beacause sapient beings need something to believe in, or they will become hopeless or lose their minds. Even those who say they Do not believe in a higher power bla bla “so believe in science” Still believe in something , science . Understanding the world you live in is something sapient species want to have or we’ll Need to have, in some sort of way and whether that is believing that everything can be explained by science, that Christian god created the world , that all human beings are divine and existence is unified , having something to explain how the world works is a basic “human” need and that is why everyone will always be curious and need to know how everything works . I am religious in the way that I need the world explained and a way to parse it too

hey!! i love your blog so much your takes are *chefs kiss*
i saw an Amazing post a few months ago where someone laid out a really cool plan for a silmarillion tv show and i cant find it again. it haunts my every waking moment. i think i saw it on your blog so i figured id ask if you knew it.
Either way, have a great day!
(note: I got this ask several thousand years ago, and am answering it now because I asked my roommates if I should write something serious tonight, or something ridiculous, or read a book; and they said ridiculous.) (note 2: I wrote the above several days ago. I'm posting at 6.5k words) (note 3: I'm going to pretend this is a deliberately timed gift to @thelordofgifs for their latest fic updates, which were bullet points of heartfelt and sober compelling canon divergence. this...is bullet points of [heartfelt? compelling?] lunacy. I hope you might enjoy it.)
Are you thinking of this, the "Supernatural but make it Silmarillion lore, and also women" show of my dreams? (Me, approaching the Tolkien estate with an offer for the rights to the Silmarillion: I swear, I will ONLY show the First Age in limited flashbacks. Everything else will be the characters as they are at least 10,000 years later, maybe even with an active framing device to identify them as modern interpretations of the characters...")
Oh huh, I forgot I thought a bunch more about that "teeechnically-not-AU" and never added it to that post. Regardless of whether it's the show you were thinking of, dear Anon:
one of the protagonists is definitely the reincarnation of Fëanor. Her name is Seraphina, which translates to something like "fiery divine being", bc her mom had a good sense of these things. They don't know this at first
her slightly older twin sister is Martha, named after their grandmother but it does mean the feminine of "master", because I spent at least an hour trying to translate any name Turin ever had into something reasonably modern and this is the best I could do (they also don't know about this reincarnation at first, ofc)
their father was killed by some sort of monster when they were babies so their mother took up monster-hunting ranging, etc. etc.
(the underground community of modern monster-hunters are called Rangers, in reference to the roaming heroes of old)
Seraphina, the Wild One(TM), ran away to go to college, where she double-majored in astrophysics and mechanical engineering and double-minored in linguistics and metallurgical engineering, and wrote an art history thesis. Martha, the Dutiful One(TM), stayed with their mother and kept ranging. They reunite when Martha shows up on Phina's doorstep because "Mom went on a hunting trip and hasn't been home in a few days", etc. etc.
the Bobby-style substitute parent should really, to (kind of) round this out, be a dwarf or hobbit. The full "Team Free Will" should represent all peoples of Arda... But I'm not making up OCs right now (yet)
a unifying legend of the Ranger community is that their unofficial network has been supported and guided for millennia by their cousins, the peredhel, Elrohir and Elladan, who quite simply never Chose and have been wandering the earth, saving people and hunting things, ever since their sister died. They don't NEED to Choose until they die, technically!
This is, in fact, true - or, it was. Until about 25 years ago, when [flips a coin] Elrohir married our heroes' mother, settled down into peaceful domesticity, and a few years later died dramatically to buy [throws a dart at a wheel of names] Laura and their children time to escape the whatever.
Laura knew about his profession and that he was older than he looked, but not his whole deal. She found that out later while vengefully hunting monsters...and never told her daughters.
The plot of Season 1 involves unravelling this mystery, including at some point meeting their elusive uncle Elladan (who has maybe gone a little mad with the sudden death of his twin? That'd be a fun season antagonist/arc/theme...dealing with grief...very topical!)
By the end of s1, all of the above have probably had a nice closure-giving(-ish) confrontation/conversation with Elrohir's ghost - who's been waiting in Mandos for his wife and/or brother despite Mandos's INCREASINGLY strident blandishments to stop acting like a cat in a doorway and choose - and Laura and Elladan are both dead in suitably dramatic circumstances.
...or, Elladan is. Apparently John Winchester didn't die until s2e1! So, what happens is:
- (earlier in the s1 finale episode, Laura, noticed something once or twice which her daughters didn't - saw a curl of smoke, seemed to be examining a McGuffin extra closely...)
- Laura has been mildly injured, and someone needs to guard a McGuffin or maybe a random innocent civilian caught up in this, so she stays behind while Phina and Martha go off to deal with whatever the actual big bad of the season is. Maybe a cult trying to sacrifice half-elves for some reason? Directed, though not personally managed, by whatever killed Elrohir in the first place, which is...I gotta figure an OC balrog? Like, not one of the big ones from canon. We'll just call her (Laura's) Bane henceforth.
- not long later, while Phina and Martha are fistbumping in the remains of the cult's hideout Seraphina maybe have used chemical explosives), or maybe discretely looting Elladan's body for useful weapons laying their uncle to rest, the scene cuts back to Laura
- she's pacing, patrolling. Ready for a fight. She senses something and goes even tenser, drawing her ancient sword. It glows softly blue - but this is no orc. Heavy footsteps, flickering shadows and firelight, maybe the sound of wings. We do not see the enemy, just a middle-aged woman in improvised combat gear with a pistol in one hand and a Gondolin-made sword in the other, and a look of iron determination and defiance. She pulls off the bandage on her arm, revealing that she'd faked her injury so the girls would leave her behind.
- "I knew it was you," she greets her old enemy, unflinching, as a faint reprise rings unnoticed in the Great Music. She moves to attack, met by a whip-crack and a flash of fire, and cut to black.
Season 2 starts where s1 ended, for Martha and Seraphina. They're almost back at their car (the beloved 1967 Chevy Shadowfax). Note: few times in s1, Phina has had strange visions or nightmares, never anything prophetic but once a good clue to defeating the MotW...
She reels with the force and horror of this one. Darkness, utter and choking, pierced eventually by a single desperate torch. A dark and empty hall where there should be life and light. Flickering firelight reveals blood on the floor...
She gasps, "Mom," and demands that Martha drive, drive, fucking drive faster already -
They're too late, of course. Laura is long-since dead.
...so, back to Monster of the Week, with additional focus on tracking down the Bane!
Seraphina's strange dreams and visions get more frequent, more memorable. Sometimes they're peaceful, full of beautiful Light. More often they're dark, or at least, dim - climbing strange, starlit mountains (finding a cousin of aconite which turns out to also be useful for defeating werewolves). Choking grief as her hand brushes the air just above a vibrant tapestry, too afraid to ruin it with touch. Fire in her throat as she shouts world-shaking words in a language she doesn't remember (she repeats them a moment later, fending off a corrupted wind-spirit, and it flinches even before Phina feels a burst of vicious, raging, burning strength.)
Seraphina is curious as hell and keeps pushing herself to learn more, see more. Do more. It's not just visions, eventually - she starts to read minds, here and there. She's always been a fidgeter, happiest with some petty creative task of wire and beads or yarn in her hands, but now she can swear that sometimes her craft supplies sing at times, directly surpassing her ears, and she can make things with quality, with power. A new-knitted scarf is sturdy as a gorget. Glass beads glow. The more Phina does, the more she's frustrated rather than satisfied - she knows she's missing something, and she HATES being ignorant. Being wrong.
Martha, always the responsible one, especially feeling the need to be so now that their mom has died, wishes she would stop. Wishes she wouldn't put herself, put both of them, in danger like this. Martha is literally game to fight an orc with her fists one on one, any day of the week; she's no stranger to a quick temper and impulsive action. But she grew up! Why can't her sister!
(Martha: [venting the above to a stranger in a bar or something. Meanwhile, Seraphina has found an medieval Songbook and is trying to, like, apply principals of Elvencraft to chemical engineering. more arguing ensues.])
Toward the end of the season, there's, idk, several murders at the site of a geothermal drilling experiment in the North Sea, and oh shit, Bane is trying to get something that came out of that drill shaft! Violent interrogation of some evil minions reveals that it's no less precious thing than a Silmaril! Our heroes read about those recently in some ancient tome! (Phina got a headache so bad, and a sense of being aflame, that she passed out.)
In the third-to-last episode of the season, they hunt the Silmaril to the unlucky random research facility to which it's been taken. Mundane authorities and/or scientists are already coveting it as a potential energy source, adding extra mooks...who mostly just die when Laura's Bane arrives. But our girls get to it just slightly faster. The jewel is in a jead-lined box. Phina has been increasingly consumed by single-minded focus on getting this thing; even as the Ban storms in all fire and darkness, she's furiously picking the lock. She flings back the lid; we see a shining gold-white jewel - and the Light consumes the screen.
The second-to-last episode starts with pure Light - then it fades to simple Mingling, as the Noldor hold a funeral for Miriel. They had rites for the fallen in their starlit home of old, when they knew no return. They are having a modified version now, knowing that in her weariness she will, at least, take a very long time; in the hope that it will help those who loved her move through their grief.
- young Fëanor (age 5ish), tears running down his cheeks, whispers to his father that he is sorry, so sorry he killed her. Finwë denies it fiercely, lovingly, and holds him tight. Indis approaches, seeking to offer comfort; Finwë sees her over Fëanor's head and, gratefully, shakes his head. She retreats.
- but in the next memory, it is Fëanor (age 10ish) who watches Finwë and Indis, as they move joyously in unison around their wedding dance floor. Someone says something to him, he responds bitterly.
- (I'm not sure exactly what narrative of Fëanor's life I want to construct here, but assume subsequent memories/short scenes include: dislike of half-siblings (ft. fear of loss/abandonment masked as superiority complex), finding genuine joy and contentment in craft, exploration, and Nerdanel & their children; Melkor & rising tensions with Fingolfin, the Silmarils, the sword Incident, banishment (ft. savage dislike of Valar), Finwë's death (the same memory that struck when Laura died!), the Oath, Alqualondë, the theft and burning of the ships...and Amrod...and shortly thereafter, Fëanor himself, in a rush that only wasn't suicide because he really thought he could bust in and kill a Vala right up until he realized he absolutely could not do that.)
- (very fast final montage of key events post death, only snapshots, maybe styled as tapestry seen from Vairë's Halls? Fingolfin, crowned, raising Maedhros from a bow and embracing him; the glorious hosts and castles of the Noldor, Dagor Bragollach, Fingolfin's death, Doriath & Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin's deaths, Sirion & Amras's death (both with the Silmaril evading them in the background), Morgoth's defeat by Host of the West with Eärendil shining far overhead, the final attack/theft, Maedhros's death, Maglor flinging the third into the sea and collapsing)
- camera close on Seraphina's face as she opens her eyes. They are shining with Light. She says, "Fuck."
FINAL EPISODE OF S2 STARTS WITH:
- a few second earlier: Martha sees from across the room as Phina opens the box and a joyous Light shines forth, and her sister collapses. The Silmaril falls and rolls.
- Martha doesn't have time to see where it rolls, because she has to fight the monster that killed both her parents. We've seen Laura's Bane in the shape of a woman with cavern-black hair and fiery eyes a few times before, and when it killed Laura and Elrohir, we glimpsed much more. But 2 episodes ago was the first time we saw it in all its terrible, burning darkness. The building is falling apart around it. There were a couple security guards and a scientist here; they're dead within moments.
- like her mother, Martha started out with a gun and a sword. She quickly gives up on the gun - it IS a special magic gun, but she's just better with a sword. She's snarking at the monster as she fights, because this is a gritty urban fantasy show so she's going to die, but by Eru she's going to die with sarcasm on her lips.
- the Bane's whip finally catches her around the wrist. It's not clear if it's the pain of the break or the burn that makes her drop her sword. The Balrog steps over it and grabs her by the throat. Darkness enwraps her, the searing, choking claws and the all-encompassing wings and the swallowing of her vision -
- Light pierces it like a blade. The Balrog falls back, dropping Martha to the floor.
- there stands her sister, Silmaril raised, almost glowing herself with its Light. Her eyes blaze with the particularly fiery Light that was always Fëanor's.
- Power in her voice, in English she says, "I am Seraphina Elrohiel [cool epithet she's picked up as a hunter]"; in the most traditional lisping Quenya she adds, "and I am Fëanáro Finwë-Curufinwë." English again: "I wrought this jewel five ages of the world ago…and to be honest, I don't really know what I can do with it now."
- - (the soundtrack crescendos, the Music crescendos; unseen, all around Arda and beyond, beings tuned into the Great Song of Ëa know that Fëanor once again holds a Silmaril, and go oh, shit, fuck!!)
- she smiles, fey and burning. "Do you think it's a good idea to stay and find out?"
- Laura's Bane flees with a snarl.
- Martha gets to her knees, and no further. She's panting, still catching her breath, bleeding and bruised and burned, and staring up at her incandescent sister(?).
- Seraphina (who is, has always been, Fëanáro Curufinwë) stays standing and glaring for a moment more, making sure the enemy has truly gone. Then -
- - [note: it came up, in their hasty recent recent research into the Silmarils while chasing them, that they are blessed such that evil hands can't touch them. they'd hoped this would be protection against the Bane, if they got there too late to stop it]
- - [note: in the very very brief memory-views of Maedhros and Maglor's last moments, it was clear that their grips on the Silmarils were agony]
- Phina falls to her knees, Silmaril dropping from her hand without protest. Once again it rolls offscreen, glow faded but still bright. All force of presence gone, she cradles her burned hand and sobs in agony and irreparable loss, not to mention the sheer overwhelming experience of everything.
- older sister instincts (again: despite the fact that they're twins) gets Martha moving when nothing else did. Still not actually sure what just happened, she crawls forward and hugs her sister.
...then they get out of there. Martha picks the Silmaril up carefully with a piece of cloth and puts it back in the lead-lined box, and Phina carries the box. For the rest of the episode, they hunt down Laura's Bane before it can escape them utterly - unless it tries to come back and get the Silmaril while they're still off-balance, which is entirely possible! Either way, they kill it so dead!
Season ends with the two of them sitting in a dingy motel room, or maybe back in the Shadowfax [car], staring at the Silmaril box. Martha says, "So...what do we do with this?" Phina says, "We find out what the hell happened to the other two!"
IN SEASON THREE...
...I stop having particularly coherent ideas for what happens, is what happens in season three
honestly, I was originally conceiving of this as 5 seasons a la Supernatural didn't it have a great show finale in 2010? so great. thank goodness they didn't make 10 more seasons for some canonically godforsaken reason. But Fëanor retrieving even just one Silmaril would so kick off an s4 level of divine intervention and incipient apocalypse...
I dunno, or maybe they CAN have a full season of Monster of the Week plus arcing plot which is half standard hunting, half various supernatural entities tracking them down either to steal the Silmaril or to kill Fëanor (again) for her many crimes?
They retrieve 1 Silmaril that season, while evading, idk, I guess Sauron is our Lilith equivalent... And it WOULD be fun to have s4 start with Martha kicking open Mandos's doors (she's holding 2 Silmarils; she can kick open whatever doors she wants) and demanding her obnoxious sister back...
(We COULD do a thing where the Valar deliberately put Fëanor back asap, but lbr they...would probably rather not, even if they need her alive to do certain things. On the other hand, if they did, what a fun conflict for her! On the third hand, SOMEONE has to Lúthien the other's Beren at least once - not that Martha is singing. She's going more for the 'threatens Ainur with swords' side of her heritage.)
(That WOULD create a fun 'Martha has been doing increasingly badass and angsty shit offscreen (while Seraphina was dead)' scenario that could lead smoothly into some flashbacks about what Martha was doing before the show started - namely, increasingly badass (and angsty) shit while Seraphina was in college...)
Because in terms of focus, the first 2 seasons are a little more about Seraphina. Having not Ranged for a while, she's more the audience's pov character to start, and then the big plotty drama is focussed on her in s2...and in s3, as they hunt the next Silmaril and she adjusts to being... That is, Fëanor adjusts to being...
She was Fëanor for a MUCH longer time than she's been Seraphina, but she's been Seraphina more recently and kinda more...vividly? She hasn't fully processed being Fëanor. Her hröa is human (and female-shaped and human-female-gendered, and elves don't define gender the same way and don't have gendered pronouns at all, so she's sticking with 'she/her' and it's not a big deal), and her fëa has been acting human, so her memory capacity is still mostly human, as are her reflexes, her need for sleep, etc... She's getting better, but it takes time.
But boy has this enhanced ALL of Seraphina's natural attention-seeking, forward-leaping, fight-starting, prideful, self-centered Protagonist(TM) behavior!
Which is driving Martha CRAZY, all the moreso because there's reason for it now. Aside from the fact that even with no memory of her past life, Seraphina was always brilliant, while Martha was just...normal at best. Clumsy and un-witty except with a weapon in her hand. Prone to sulking and shyness. Downright unlucky, while the universe seems to shower blessings on her sister.
Even when Fëanor is trying not to start a fight, she's so condescending. to her sister who is a mere mortal Man. Having been one for 25-odd years - still being one, in fact - Fëanor has lost much of her suspicion of Man as an usurping species (it was never really about Men anyway). But she's SO condescending.
(Martha IS her sister, still. Martha can hold the Silmaril without the Oath pushing Seraphina to burning wrath, because she is Fëanor's kin.)
(Though "Fëanor's kin" was only ever a stand-in for, roughly, "people Fëanor could trust to temporarily hold a Silmaril because he knew they'd give it back to him instantly if he asked." So, as the rift deepens between then, as she grows paranoid again...)
...returning to the point above: as Seraphëanor steps up as Person Who Can Explain Advanced Supernatural Shit, audience pov connects a little more with Martha. Also because Fëanor's radius of destruction is really fun to watch from the outside.
Yeah...Seraphina gets pretty high up her own ass over the course of s3, then dies, maybe heroically or maybe as foolishly as last time, then post-season hiatus smash cut to Martha kicking in Mandos's front door and dragging her back to life... I do love that.
SEASON FOUR...
After the shock wears of, the classic Fëanorian paranoia isn't helped by the fact that Martha IS keeping secrets. What she's been doing, who she's been doing it with...(some Maia, maybe even an Úmaia?) Though Arda's mythology doesn't have the same Heaven/Hell dichotomy as Earthly Christianity, so alaos we can't have the sexy sexy s4 thing of an angel on one sister's shoulder and a devil on the other's...
But basically I think s3 has to have been somewhat of a tragedy, as Túrin (unknowing) and Fëanor (just bad at this) played out their old tragedies in tandem. Rashness was often the undoing of both. Leaping to conclusions, action or both, though usually in opposite directions. With maybe a dash of parallels with ancient (ie, Second Age) Elf vs Man conflict - Martha is increasingly down on herself, but also, jealous of Seraphina's Protagonist Energy and increasingly ready to do some violence about it.
And none of that resolves in s3! Seraphina just gets killed!
So in s4, they have to figure it out. Seraphina needs to learn some sort of (gasp) humility, and how to let grievances (and loved ones) go. Martha needs to learn how to cope with regret and grief with means other than changing her name and moving to a different city.
(She's already starting, though! This time, she asked "what would Seraphina do', then broke into Mandos and demanded solutions!)
(...and Mandos, perhaps, was very ready to refuse until he got a good look at her fëa, silently went 'huh' in recognition, and waved them out.)
Then Martha starts having strange dreams and visions - maybe after they fight an ancient dragon? or maybe she already was, in the s3-s4 gap (after fighting an ancient dragon with her new Maia friend?)
Seraphina is initially PSYCHED about this- twinnies for real!! But they get some entity to look at Martha's fëa and they confirm that she's 100% a Man.
Monster of the Week episodes are still the main focus btw. Vampires and werewolves, cursed magical objects, rogue petty nature maiar, peacekeeping between factions of non-humans still dwelling secretly here and there... Though perhaps the masquerade is starting to fracture?
And, of course, some (other?) Maia has shown up and informed them that Sauron is embodied again and trying to complete a ritual to break a hole in the envelope of the world to let Melkor back in, which our heroes must stop!
Also, definitely need to get the 3rd Silmaril back this season. They got the one in the earth and the one in the sea...
- so, a fan favorite recurring character [a/n: IT'S MY IMAGINARY TV, I CAN IMAGINE THE FANDOM'S REACTIONS, TOO, AND ALSO TBH I'M CERTAIN I COULD DELIBERATELY CRAFT A FAN FAVORITE CHARACTER] is the twins' Uncle Earl, who isn't technically their uncle but rather an old family friend of their mother's. He is, in short, kind of an old kook. Some flavor of Southern - I'll flip a coin and say Louisianan? Lives on a houseboat, refuses to go ashore unless absolutely necessary because "the feds'll get me." Visiting nieces means there's someone else to go get groceries and gasoline (necessary, but he doesn't trust most delivery services or modern technology, either), so they've possibly never seen him set foot on land except maybe once on an isolated beach in rural Oregon. Fought in Korea. Has probably looked grizzled since age 12. Eats mostly fish, talks to birds, talks back to the radio.
- to be clear, this guy is not filling the Bobby 'faux-parent' role. ...okay maybe he is a little, emotionally. But he's not involved in "the family business." In terms of SPN characters, he's roughly Garth - appears once a season or so, is a delight for 1 episode, then we part ways. He calls Martha in s1 because there's been some "weird deaths" in the port he's in right now, and he knows they deal with "this sort of thing" but he can't get ahold of Laura. There's a mention of him in s2, that they called to tell him Laura had died. In s3, they need to lay low for a while so they join him on his boat for a few weeks, go stir-crazy and end up fighting a sea monster.
- Idk if he calls them again in s4 or they're trying to lie low again or they just run into him by chance...but they're dealing with MotW murders in some swampy Florida shore-town and on his ship (The Flower) when something much bigger than a swamp monster catches up with them. Say, Sauron sent an unstoppable Carcharoth-sized wolf monster, or maybe a super-vampire (some aerial combat would be fun), or just some Úmaia miniboss that a season or two would've been a season-climax boss fight...
- they're moored up when it arrives. Phina curses, Martha shouts for Earl to drive, drive the boat out as far and fast as he can! Earl was half-asleep at the table; he starts awake demanding if it's the feds?! Phina leaps to the wheel herself and slams the gas, while Martha grabs the old shotgun off the wall and fires at the giant shadowy wolf-monster.
They leave it howling on the pier. They'll have to go back and face it eventually, but they're not ready right now. Maybe they can even re-land far upshore, and it'll have lost their scent again...
- the giant shadow-wolf finishes howling starts chasing them running on the water
- Martha curses, and shouts Phina to drive faster. Earl (looking over Martha's shoulder, also cursed, almost impressed, at the sight of the wolf) tells her to give him the wheel. Phina shoves him away and shouts back as she yanks the wheel that they need to turn back, they can't win this fight on the water -
- the wolf is snapping at the Flower's keel. Phina curses in Valarian and yells at Earl to take the wheel and steer them back to land, while she runs back to help Martha fight the wolf.
- Earl flips a red lever in the [boat mechanics] cabinet under the wheel which we've probably seen before (Seraphina fixed something in s1), labeled "High Octane" and shouts, "Hold on, girls!" He slams the throttle again and the whole houseboat hydroplanes. The wolf falls overboard; Phina goes with it but Martha grabs her.
- the wolf gets to its feet on the water, and starts chasing them again
- "Confession time, girls!" Uncle Earl calls, steering the boat beyond full throttle while Martha and Phina get to their feet. "I did befriend your ma's dad while he was fighting in Korea. He whispered to the stars at night, when he felt lost." Adjusts a standing spyglass, tugs a string a couple times to turn on the lanterns on the prow and above the steering console, dons his navy blue-and-gold captain's hat. "I thought I couldn't have been happier to guide him home - then Elrohir met his Laura, and they fell in love. And had the two of you!"
- "Do you have a point?" Phina shrieks. She's scrambling to get her jacket out of her bag under one of the seats, because her Silmarils are in its pockets and the shadow-wolf is gaining. Martha, shooting at the wolf again, glances back, maybe having noticed that the old anecdote is phrased differently than before. Old Uncle Earl is standing unusually straight, his grizzled-gray hair gold-ish in the warm lantern light.
- "Yes!" he calls, jerking the boat away from the wolf again. Some of his Louisiana accent has fallen away, too. "Don't lose your wits - and keep holding on to something!"
- he tugs the light-cord again and the yellowy lantern-case above the wheel opens, and the light that shines forth is far brighter and paler. Its source falls into his hand as the lantern shakes with the Flower's speed, and he sets it on the brim of his hat - the illusion of which fades, leaving only the golden band on his brow with the Silmaril set upon, and Eärendil standing as tall, young, and golden-haired as when he first sailed the sacred seas. He gives the wheel another stern yank and the ship's prow rises even higher - and keeps rising, with the rest of the Flower in tow - the Foamflower, Vingilotë, every plank now aglow.
- "Also," he admits, looking over his shoulder to make sure neither of the twins has fallen off (again), "I'm your great-grandfather. I really am sorry to have - hey!"
- that's for Seraphina, who is Fëanor, Oath blazing in her heart, regaining her balance, sprinting up the deck and lunging with wrath in her eyes for the Silmaril.
- Eärendil dodges smoothly, while still keeping one hand on the wheel. "I said," he says reprovingly - while Martha bodily tackles her sister to the floor - "keep your wits Fëanáro. I'm here to help, as I ever have been for the people of Arda."
- the girls wrestle on the deck for a few more seconds before Seraphina calms down. It helps that they realize the wolf had grown giant wings of shadow and is chasing them aloft as well.
- btw: late in s4, the dwarvish researcher who's Bobby's fill-in and/or Martha's probably-trustworthy Maia friend should really be present as well for all of the above, but this ain't really about them. So I think they're just kinda. awkwardly Present for this family not-reunion. helping fight the wolf & all that.
- (Eärendil doesn't actually give back the Silmaril. But he lets Seraphina hold it for a few minutes, during which she is more at peace than she has been in millennia, and promises to let her have it again if/when she really needs it, if it isn't more urgently needed elsewhere. This is, more or less, satisfying to the Oath: as discussed "Fëanor's kin" was only ever shorthand for "people whom Fëanor could trust to hold a Silmaril without ever withholding it from him.")
Eeexcept it turns out that even Eärendil doesn't know that the Valar DO want Morgoth back, because they're kinda totally down to have Dagor Dagorath and reboot the world. Look it'll be great - Túrin - that's you, Martha - will help Eonwë and Tulkas slay him, then Fëanor will break the Silmarils, releasing the Light so that Eru can use it to Remake the world, Unmarred this time - Hey, where are you Children going? Stop stabbing people! Stab only the people we tell you to stab!
(Ulmo, ever wise, offscreen: When has that EVER worked? Especially with Fëanáro and his kin?)
Yeah, there's a scene very much like the end of SPN s4, wherein Martha gets grabbed by the celestial "good guys" and they admit that this is all kinda set-up but don't worry - here's your destined fuckoff-huge black sword, just wait a few minutes for your "sister" to once again achieve an evil end that's the exact opposite of what she intended; and then Martha has to convince the Maia she's been befriending all season to help her escape and go rescue Seraphina before she jumpstarts the apocalypse...
(Nb: Martha was already trying to stop Sauron from freeing Morgoth when the season started - she broke Seraphina out of Mandos party bc she loved and missed her sister, partly because she needed a Silmaril expert. But she's grown skeptical of the task somehow, while Seraphina - perhaps because Seraphina - has gotten vengefully obsessed with it. As Fëanor is wont to do. Hell, she has even more reason than she used to - she knows what Sauron did to her grandson.)
So, y'know
They do, of course, accidentally free Morgoth.
On the plus side, in the process, they get to jointly murder the SHIT out of Sauron, who was the REAL mastermind behind much of Laura's Bane's actions (and, honestly? Might've been the real one who killed Laura, and only set it up to look like a Balrog. Flames and shadows both can have many masters!)
SEASON FIVE, THE FINAL SEASON DEFINITELY FOLLOWED BY NO FURTHER SEASONS despite the temptation of a terrible sexy humanoid Ungoliant
I only have 3 ideas for season 5:
1. They go to Valinor at some point, of course. Perhaps to rally aid? The first elf they find, they introduce themselves grandly, Fëanor and Túrin Turambar here seeking allies to fight Morgoth! and the elf says blankly, "I have never heard of either of you." *squints* "You're Men, you say? Lord Ulmo keeps a Man on Tol Eressëa, I think. You could go to him?" But after that, as a running joke all episode, every other elf they meet recognizes Fëanor on sight (she has a very distinctive fëa) and immediately punches her in the face...and every other elf recognizes Tùrin on sight and all but tackle-hugs Martha while shouting joyfully that they never expected to see him again. Some (Beleg) actually do tackle-hug her (and nearly gets stabbed again) (#worthit).
2. To everyone's surprise, including the other Valar, Morgoth started his war upon creation subtly when he returned...but doesn't remain subtle for long, nor do those opposing him. By the end of the season, the masquerade that non-human sentient peoples and various other supernatural beings still live in Arda is all but shattered.
3. Then it's THOROUGHLY shattered in the finale. I don't know if the general human populace participates in the final battle - though I am SO weak for a moment when, like, the regular-ass armed forces, who are not necessarily allies to the heroes, show up to help fight a massive superhuman threat. When the SHIELD helicarrier shows up to evacuate civilians in Age of Ultron, when UNIT does pretty much anything in Doctor Who...I love it when the best protections & warriors the mundane human race could pull together also show the fuck up and help save the day because damnit, this is their planet too. ...Which is, in fact, very on-theme for Tolkien. So yes, actually, this definitely happens. Probably there's some conflict with US military forces mid-season, our heroes have to talk (fight & escape) their way out of being arrested for blowing up a national landmark while fighting a balrog, and the general in charge whom they'd half-convinced returns in the finale with a battalion to slam some missiles into Morgoth...
oh, and 4: Ar-Pharazón et al totally do come back from the dead. Probably on Morgoth's side lbr. They get a twisted undead immortality wherein they cannot die, just go on fighting for the dark lord to whom they once turned in jealous worship...
More importantly...
Okay, I really don't know exactly how the Dagor Dagorath goes. We're following the version that Eärendil will chase Morgoth from the skies; Tulkas, Eonwë and Túrin will fight him upon the field and Túrin will avenge his House and all the Race of Men by slaying him; and Fëanor will break the Silmarils and Yavanna will use their Light to remake the Trees, and the lands will be leveled or in some cases raised from the depths, and everyone will live happily ever after except possibly Men who aren't mentioned beyond Túrin.
This is what the Valar expect to happen (though they don't actually know-know Eru's plans.)
What happens instead is...
Most of the Morgoth-defeating does go exactly like that. Except probably they don't kill him for good - they CAN'T, because the Marring of the world is part of what Morgoth is, and the only way to undo him completely is to remake the world completely.
Which maybe could be done, by Eru if no one else, if He were beseeched? Which might be done with the strength of the Silmarils, their Light released?
And Seraphina does break the Silmarils. That's important for her - giving up her Protagonist role, just as slaying Morgoth - embracing her Protagonist role - is important for Martha.
...but I don't think they give the Light back to Yavanna. No offense to the Trees, but they never illuminated most of Arda anyway, and the world is round now anyway - and making it flat again would fuck it up - and we have, like, electrical lights, now.
Hell, maybe Seraphina is ready to give up the Light... Her instinct is to hold it back, to follow her own novel plans with it, but, oh, to regain what was lost! And she has come around on...some of the Valar. Selectively. Yavanna's one of the okay ones.
- but Martha, half-dead from the battle, drops to her knees beside her and catches her hands before she can loose the Light upward unto the grasp of the Tree-Queen.
- "Together?" Martha says (Túrin Turambar, ever the greatest Men had to offer - bull-headed, loyal, brave, unafraid of death, loving and losing and loving again).
- Seraphina's trembling lips curve into a fierce grin (Fëanäro Curufinwë, ever the greatest Elves had to offer - brilliant in mind and spirit, devoted, ever seeking to preserve and glorify the beauty of the world, and eventually learning some wisdom about letting go).
- "Together," she agrees.
- together, they hold the Light that once shone in the Trees, the Lamps, and the Flame Eternal of Creation itself; and as they release it, reach for the Great Music of Ëa that is deep in both their blood - for they are the daughters of Elrohir, son of Elrond, son of Elwing daughter of Dior son of Lúthien Tinúviel, daughter of Melian the Maia; and indeed, even before that, they are both trueborn Children of Eru, are they not? - and eschew utterly the Choice of the Peredhel by leaving the world round but Un-Sundering the Sea, that the kindred might still live apart, if they wished it - the Elder in their land undying, the Younger in their realms of quick and sometimes joyful, often savage change - but that they might visit one another, at least, as they pleased.
(I mean, wasn't the false division of siblings the whole problem from the start?)
Random Additional Features of this Show/AU/Thing
All elf and ainu side characters, canonical and not, will be cast gender-blindly, and characters referred to with the understanding that elvish personal pronouns don't necessarily correlate with physical phenotype, but Ainur do generally try to match local standards of gender assignment. Dwarves will all use he/him (and have beards!) even when fairly clearly female.
I have no idea what Martha is doing for gender once she remembers being Túrin. With all the time Túrin spent with Elves, she probably rolls pretty smoothly with being she/her now, though it's weird. Her memories definitely integrate more easily than Fëanor/Seraphina's, though, as much because she's the same kind of being both times as because there's less of them.
Both protagonists are definitely bisexual. Martha has a range of love interests; it's a running joke (at first) that Seraphina has a total Thing for redheads. Any kind of redhead. But especially creative ones - any kind of art or invention.
The role of Gabriel WILL be played by Maglor, albeit with a different death (don't worry, he'll be back for the finale) and much more...gloominess. And angst. Okay, and maybe his first appearance, in s1 or 2, IS cursing them - not knowing who they are - into a musical episode. (A WOMAN HAS NEEDS; THE WOMAN IS ME.)
When Martha meets Fingolfin and/or any of Fëanor's other siblings, probably in s5 but maybe s4, they immediately Vibe completely. It's the shared experience of growing up with Fëanor for a sibling. Needless to say, Seraphina Hates This.
Their chief researcher friend is a dwarf, who is also on the young-ish side I think, and a woman (he/him).
There's gotta be a notable hobbit on the Team before the end, too...but overall, hobbits remain symbolically representative of the Civilians in this war story.
Durin is alive again somewhere. Durin usually reincarnates in time to guide his people through particularly difficult times - or, to try. Their dwarf friend - what the hell, I'll just call him Bobby - tries SO hard to be Cool about meeting him, and fails SO hard.
I generally prefer to judge and characterize the Valar and associated Maiar as fallible to the point of clumsiness or negligence but basically wise and thoroughly benevolent...but I AM willing to throw some of them under the characterization bus for ease of making conflict in this hypothetical CW show.
...I probably have many more random thoughts but it's 3am and I want to post this whole insane thing. Feel free to ask me questions if you have them! And/or petition both the Tolkien estate and a major TV network for the rights, money, and support to help me make the terrible but wonderful show we deserve!

Okay- gods damnit your AU has made a monster out of me my daydreams have been about your AU ALL FUCKING DAY AAAA- /pos
But anyway, I am a bit curious. As someone who doesn't make their self insert characters human (I find it boring I like having powers lolol) would that effect how the boys react?
For my own personal self insert, I play a LOT with Phoenix abilites and make them half phoenix, extended life into the thousands of years, ability to revive in exchange for a century, and fire abilities. I felt now would be a good time to mention since Red is in the picture as well as I'm imagining fire bonding hehe
This ask turned into a ramble but anyway, hope you have a great day! Thanks for the comfort AU that makes my soft heart happy and warm
hnhhgnggh glad you enjoy it! c: (on phone rn at work so there may be typos n all that hnhghhnh)
Ohohohoh- Now we gettin' more into lore territory-
In general, one of the few solid rules the group pulling the strings set up says that the Master is always a regular mortal human. It's to basically prevent imbalance in the Master System.
Because in the group's eyes, if one already has personal powers, there is no need for them to hold power over others. Or in this case, the servants.
The Judge himself would be forced to step in for once instead of the Oracle.
That doesn't mean the Reader can't reincarnate into something else. However, the servants wouldn't be able to sense their Master. Like- There is a chance a Reader was once a fuckin' ant and got stepped on by a servant without knowing. Which would be sad but also funny-
And in terms of halflings with or without magical abilities, the Reader's soul is considered to be tainted by the Judge and unfit to fill the role as Master.
It also boils down to the fact that the soul borrowed is generally being shared by other Readers, which limits how much the Master's soul is allowed to be tempered with.

give your moots a valentine's day ship?
✦ Ahh!! I was away when I got this ask but I’m still in time for Valentine's so it’s alright!! XD Thank you for sending this to me as well anon!! I’ve been seeing it a lot on my dashboard and it’s fun being included :D ✦ I’m totally taking this chance to interact more with my moots because I’m way too shy otherwise XDDD (ALSO!! If I missed anyone, I was afraid to tag you TuT I’m not sure who is or who isn’t my moot so lmk if you do consider me one!!!) ✦ Couldn´t make everything 'Valentine's day' themed so I gave ya´ll general tropes, hope that´s alright too!!!!
Tumblr media
@zhongrin // Zhongli (Reincarnation AU)
Your first meeting isn’t your first meeting, you realize. For an immortal, it’s hard to fall in love with someone who is a mortal. But somehow you make all the pain worth it. He’d wait a thousand years just to see your smile again, and he’d wait a thousand more just to have you in his arms. ✦ You can’t help but fall in love with Zhongli over and over again. No matter his form, no matter the era, it’s as if fate tied you two together a long time ago. (I am so sorry, my mind has brainwashed me to ship you with Zhongli forevermore)
@watatsumiis // Capitano (small sunshine & big gloomy)
The Fatui soldiers can’t help but wonder why you’re holding hands with the big intimidating Harbinger. You’re so friendly and welcome to everyone, and he’s… Y’know. But little do the people know how Capitano melts in your company. He loves listening to your rambles, your stories, and he loves holding you close. Please don’t break his heart!! He’s a bit awkward but he loves you so SO much!! He’s just unsure how to show it to you :(  ✦ The Fatui soldiers will notice Capitano’s feelings for you when they realize he’s much softer when you’re near. If someone messes up, they’ll choose to tell Capitano when you’re around as well, hoping the punishment will be less severe that way. (Capitano lifting general up WHEN??? <- the real content we're waiting for)
@cherry-froggie // Kaeya (childhood friends)
You’ve known each other for many years now. You were there when Kaeya’s world came crashing down, and you’re still here after everything. He’s a joy to be around, he tells you all his secrets and brings you with him on expeditions outside of Mondstadt so you can see the world with him. Recently your chest seems to grow tight whenever you spend time together. Could you be falling in love with him after all these years?! Funny enough, he’s loved you since the first time meeting you. ✦ Diluc knows. It’s one of those things he can’t stand about his brother. Those nights when Kaeya invites you to drink with him in Angel’s Share? Archons. Diluc can’t understand how you’re both so oblivious to each other's feelings. (So soft for KaeyaxCherry for some reason. Childhood friends is just the perfect amount of angst and trust for a Kaeya trope imo, BUT DW!!! Eventually you both realize you were meant to be together all along and it’d be so cute TUT)
@dustofthedailylife // Alhaitham (coffee shop AU)
It’s the exam period and you see a lot of students fill the spaces of your usual cafe. One day, a handsome guy from your school takes the empty seat across from you. He doesn’t ask for it either- he just… sits. But honesty, you can’t complain! You spend your time with him in silence, sketching his concentrated face (his frown is low-key adorable), before he abruptly stands up. You’re a bit confused, but the note he left behind has a clear message for you (and his number?!) ‘You’re good company. Call me when exams are over.’  ✦ You’re the only person Alhaitham would voluntarily spend his free time with. He’s not oblivious either, he notices the way you’d glace at him when he’s focused on his work. And while it’s distracting, he somehow doesn’t mind when it’s you who distracts him. (Mutual pining until Alhaitham figures out how he feels. Amazing 100k+ slow burn fic!!! Honestly so wholesome TuT)

Clara and the Ancients / Clara's Truth
semi-darker short story
Clara stood in front of the six Ancient Deities, her blind gaze staring coldly up at them.
Nocte stepped forward, "you probably know by now, your reincarnation cycle has gone on for two hundred thousand years. I believe it's been long enough for you to have changed, Eclipse. Do you believe you-"
Nocte is cut off, Clara glaring at the Ancient Deity of Darkness, "I am not Eclipse." Her soft, calm voice held more venom than her own fangs, and was more freezing than her glare.
Nocte hesitated at the Draconic's anger, "...then who are you?"
"I don't even know, because of you. You all know exactly what your stars-forsaken Reincarnation Cycle does, and you know exactlywho I used to be, There's been two hundred and eighty-five LifeTimes now. I have lived two hundred and eighty-five times, and for nothing." Clara hisses, taking an almost shaky step forward. She's felt bitter towards the Ancients since she regained her memories, and her eternal resentment towards the six had reemerged as well. "what did you expect to happen, other than giving her- me- another chance to grow?"
"It seems Eclipse hasn't changed," Mores says, almost glaring at Clara while Mores walks closer to Nocte.
"Are you sure you should have chosen a LifeTime as your Decendant, Tempes?" Omnia asks Omnia's counterpart quietly.
Clara doesn't know how Tempes responded, nor does she care, "That reminds me, Omnia. I'm sure you know what happened to Vizerxa? Your 'rejected Decendant'? Was that not the second time you six hurt her, more than she could ever deserve?"
Omnia stays silent for a few moments, frowning, seeming... almost sad as Omnia finally responds, "But Zenza had warned me of Trae's future..."
"Use her name! And you chose to trust an obvious TimeWalker!?" Clara glares, the anger clashing with her naturally calm voice, making her tone just a terrifying, freezing fury.
"You're speaking out of turn, Ecl-"
"SILENCE!" Clara snaps, for the first time in centuries raising her voice as she cuts off Mores, sounding more authoritative and regal than she had since Eclipse's lifetime, "I am speaking because this needs to be said. I am speaking because no one else noticed. Because they all trust you six. Even after you abandoned us all. Even after you turned away from our suffering. Not a single one of you has done anything good; you didn't even make our Realms. And I am not Eclipse anymore."
Even though she has fallen back to her quiet tone, her voice was clear through the silence.
The Ancients stayed silent, shocked by Clara's words, before Nocte steps forward once more. Clara hears the near-silent crackle and metal clinking as Nocte summons Nocte's sword. She continued to glare defiantly at the Deities, her fury drowning out any fear she could have, "It's time someone spoke the truth."
"...I believe you've shown me this punishment is wrongful," Nocte murmurs. Clara knew Nocte was raising Nocte's sword, aiming, before she felt a new presence, more powerful than even the Ancients. A loud, shrill, almost static-like shriek deafened Clara before she could process the presence. She fell, hands over her ears in pain, before it suddenly stopped. She could feel blood trickle out of her ears after a moment, and everything was muffled.
"Her life is not yours to control, nor yours to end, Nocte," a calm but clearly angry voice says. It almost sounded like it was in Clara's head, yet it seemed to be spoken out loud... that didn't make any sense...
"Merivu!?" Omnia sounded shocked, and fearful of whoever just appeared.
"That goes for all of you," the unfamiliar being (Merivu?) was clearly disappointed and unhappy with the Ancients, "you don't have the right to control their lives like this. Especially when you refuse to help them in times of need. There are far more important things than someone you wrongfully punished. Your abandoned Realms, for example. Your Draconics still hope you help them, still pray for you to save them, as their Realms fall deeper and deeper into destruction and pain. Yet you do nothing. You don't deserve to be gods."
Clara feels herself get picked up by... two sets of arms? by a tall being, before everything faded away, her senses becoming fuzzy before vanishing entirely as she fell unconscious.

Combine The Fifth Element with Raya and the Last Dragon.
(I am working through the backlog at the moment, so for anyone curious: REQUESTS ARE STILL CLOSED. But these are my requests from years ago, that I am finally answering now that life is marginally less bad.)
Person A is entrusted with a key passed down through generations that will supposedly give the world’s savior an entrance into the world, but Person A is starting to doubt the legend. But then Person A gets a mysterious suitcase given to them while taking the bus home from their job, and when they bring it home, their key starts to react to the proximity of the suitcase. When Person A opens the suitcase with the key, it opens as up and appears to be a hatch looking into a small studio apartment that seems to be floating in the middle of space. Person B is the being living inside the pod apartment, and is excited to meet Person A and have an opportunity to leave their floating space apartment, but neither knows how they’re supposed to set the prophecy into motion and save the world.
Person A is entrusted with a key passed down through generations that will supposedly give the world’s savior an entrance into the world, but since the prophecy is fairly obscure, Person A doesn’t think to hide the key. But one day, their new roommate vanishes and Person A notices the key is missing from where they keep it too. But before they can go track down their roommate, a stranger, Person B, shows up with a suitcase/chest/box/etc., asking Person A if they have the key since the time has come to use it. So the two have to go on a journey to get the key back, and protect the container from people who may try to steal it.
Person A is a descendant of a god, entrusted with the object that was passed down through generations to save the world from peril when it arises. But when the signs of the apocalypse start to show up, they find the object has been left broken in it’s container. Now Person A has to seek out the current relative of theirs who is blessed with the closest connection to their god, to find a way to fix the object. Person B is a kid/teen in foster care who isn’t aware of anything to do with the legacy they are part of, but who has an imaginary friend, who starts urging them to run away to find someone - Person A. Because the world needs them both.
Person A is a descendant of a god, who was prophesized to find the necessary hero who will sacrifice themself to save the world from the apocalypse which will happen in their lifetime. But Person A is always told not to overthink it, that destiny will bring the person they need to find into their life. Now Person A is happily married to Person B, with children on the way, and gets the sign that the apocalypse is coming…and Person B will be the hero who has to sacrifice themself to save the world. Person A decides to, instead of telling Person B, hide the signs from them and find a place to hide and weather the chaos of the end of the world to protect Person B.
Person A is a descendant of a god-like alien race, living on Earth and knowing their purpose, as all their reincarnations before them did. But in the modern era, they’re just seen as being crazy and paranoid, and end up locked in a psych ward, where they meet Person B, who they immediately recognize as the one meant to end the world, harboring a great deal of uncontrollable and destructive power inside them - the power that builds up and releases every few thousand years. But Person B doesn’t know why Person A seems to hate them, since they have no knowledge of what’s inside them. All Person A’s reincarnations had to kill the carriers of the power, like Person B is now, but since the hospital staff won’t let them get close to Person B after a few botched attempts, they try to befriend Person B to get close to them. Person B is all too happy to clear their name with Person A, who they don’t remember upsetting but assume they must’ve, and accept their request of friendship. But the more time the two spend together, Person A notices the amount of destructive power inside Person B beginning to decrease and starts to question if there was another method, a more peaceful way, that their past selves could’ve handled their task aside from killing an innocent carrier.

idk if ur like open to randos in ur asks giving u media recommendations, but i would give anything in the world for u to try and give the k-novel 'return of the blossoming blade' by BIGA a chance... UR MY FAVE CONTENT CREATOR SINCE THE YE OLDEN TGCFMDZS DAYS SO I WANTED TO AT LEAST TRY LOLLL its like my favourite novel of all time and ive been trying to force it upon everyone with little avail, which i dont understand WHYY cuz its SOO GOOOD like it definitely deserves to have the same level of popularity w international fans as MDZS and TGCF had, but for now it remains a hidden gem.......... it's an insanely long novel i will nawt lie (1.5k+ chapters and updating everyday but only like 500smth have been tl'd into english on the fantl site Sky Demon Order[who also post semi-daily]) but its sosososo worth it i prommy..trust me..:smiles: it's a classic 'hero from the past who died a tragic and preventable(?) death reincarnates a hundred years into the future hiding his identity to teach the youth in order to keep the future generation from following in his footsteps and making the same mistakes he did' but without all the stale, predictable, boringness u'd typically expect from that specific genre... it's an incredibly comedic action novel that takes place in ancient china wuxia setting & focuses primarily on found family and those close familial bonds between the main cast behind all the sword fighty action (dont know how to fit this in anywhere else, but its important to me that u know the mc, chung myung, is the main casts grandpa.. hes their peepaw.. he shows affection by beating them on their heads). theres no romance at all, but i would argue that is a SELLING POINT for this novel like i swear it is so refreshing, the found family of it all means soo much to me, so much so i am now going to force it to mean so much to you too(this is a threat).... if u do gaf abt ships tho then maybe the doomed, tragic, best-friends-to-almost lovers tangchung yaoi and the love at first sight iseolsoso yuri might catch ur eye *LOOKS AT YOU* i genuinely really really feel like it would be straight up ur alley, like its definitely smth i feel would at least peak ur interest imo (chung myung, the mc, is probably my fave mc of all time..at eighty two years young, he IS the next peoples princess and i want to hit him with my car and then nurse him back to health just to hit him again.. i feel like u'd enjoy him like that as well).. im so desperate for more eng fans of this novel u cant see me rn but i am biting into a leather belt trying not to sob and cry out loud as im typing this this is so long im so embarrawsed so ill leave u here.. i hope my pleas have touched ur heart in some way and if the novel chapter count is too intimidating, ROTBB also has a webcomic on webtoons by the same name (season two of the webcomic just started ^__^ ) and the art is so good and funny and its a good way to get into the novel without being overwhelmed by the chp count methinks BUT i would definitely consider reading the novel mandatory cuz the webcomic only fills u in on so much.... ok. i hope u managed to get thru this insane wall of text, my bad.. until we meet again...*salutes* *revs up my motorcycle and disappears behind a cloud of smoke but when the dust settles i am laying dead on the floor*
ok so first of all i respect this so much 🫡 thank you for spreading your passion in the final moments before your motorcycle dirt death 🫡🫡🫡
second of all this does sound really fun !!! i have found it on sky demon order and i'll give it a try... BUT i gotta be real over a thousand chapters and only two hundred of them translated AND no romance is unfortunately killing me... i just dont know if i have the stamina for that... im a horrible little fujo if its THAT long theres gotta be some kissing!!!!! sorry 😭😭
for u i will give it a try but i can make no promises 🫡 i will consider chung myung my blorbo in law tho

So here's a random aspect of Azarath that has literally been niggling at me for YEARS.
Specifically about Azar. Basically a minor/background character in all cases except the one where she's raising Raven and the one where she's taking out Trigon.
But I..... have done inordinate amounts of thinking about Azar, let's put it that way. (*laughs in Great Understatement and also in Nexus*)
So the great mystery about her has always been... Which Azar is it, exactly, that's speaking in Terror of Trigon? WHICH ONE IS IT?!
The two main points of consideration are:
An Azar, third Azar, granddaughter of the founder of Azarath, gave Raven the rings, Raven says she can "still feel her" spirit in them (heavily implied it's this Azar specifically in the rings based on context of discussing that the woman who raised her had given her those rings before she died), and iirc they use those same rings to channel an Azar, presumably the same one whose spirit is present and known to Raven.
The ORIGINAL Azar, the foundress herself, who speaks to Trigon as if she's known him for centuries, talking about staying one step ahead of him and following him through dimensions, and iirc said something about Since His Inception... which happened at the time of Azarath's creation by Azar the First.
So I'm going to go through why this always confused me, but spoiler alert: I finally found peace in this decade-long debate with myself by settling on all three of them being the same person reincarnated through three consecutive generations. Or at least aspects of the same person.
In Tales of the New Teen Titans #2, Raven explicitly tells everyone that the Azar who raised her was the granddaughter of the original Azar. She mentions the most recent two living for multiple centuries each (dyscalculia prevents me from remembering the exact numbers, and which one had which lifespan, but they were quite literally Centuries.)
There is, however, definite mention of them having died. People usually only do that once.
((Raven didn't get that memo.))
If you ask me, the extent of the average Azarathean life span is still up for debate. Somehow it's true in canon both that Juris "was one of [Azarath's] originals", AND that they used the secrets of dimensional travel to form Azarath a thousand years ago. So implicitly the guy's a thousand years old??? But if that's the case, why are their head spiritual and bureaucratic leaders dying after a handful of centuries?
ESPECIALLY when it's heavily implied that Azarath's existence relied on them! I still can't rationalize how it came to mind, but someone asks something to the effect of, "Wouldn't Azar dying destroy Azarath?" And Raven's response is, "There were many who studied at her side." Implying, to me, that if these people HADN'T been there, it WOULD have been destroyed! (And also that it took "many" people to replace the power of one Azar, which is just... Whew.)
But why would average everyday Azarathean citizens have a longer lifespan than the 200/300 / presumably also 400 years allotted to THE PERSON WHO ALLOWS THE PLACE TO EXIST???
It just doesn't make sense!
Unless that essential person isn't really gone.
I don't think the NTT duo had the story straight on Azarath, unfortunately. I am definitely thinking harder about this than they did.
I'm not saying this is what I think they intended.
In fact, it's probably not. Any time an Azarathean mentions death or dying, they refer to it as "ascending to another plane of existence"-- or "joining Azar", supposedly implying In An Afterlife With Her. So the textual evidence reads like they believe souls leave the physical world and enter a separate world, an afterlife, and gather with their leader.
(Gee, Azar, how come your gods let you have TWO leaderships? /ref)
So that then opens up the question of Which Azar is Leading Them?
Not only in the afterlife, but in their posthumous defeat of Trigon!
I used to assume the Azar defeating Trigon was the one who raised Raven. Lilith "channels" an Azar, and I always supposed it was Lilith's connection to Raven, which would have been especially strong after doing a dang seance to contact Raven, that allowed her to open up to Azar.
(I mean, I guess now that I'm laying out my assumptions, a woman who was powerful enough to keep a place Not Being Destroyed simply by Being Alive is probably powerful enough that she could possess whoever she wanted. But it seemed a bit like she was asking permission?)
Anyways, as summarized above, the flaw in this logic is what Azar says to Trigon. I'm currently on a tiny phone and have no spoons to go hunting down the panels, but I distinctly remember the Azar that shows up in Terror of Trigon talking about them having a looooong history. Chasing him through the dimensions, and I'm pretty sure she says something like, "for centuries", or maybe it's "millennia". Again, dyscalculia, number words are Hard. But the third Azar, Raven's mentor, only lived for... I think 200 years, according to TotNTT 2?
Honestly Terror of Trigon kind of talks like there was only ONE Azar ever. I don't think there's ever any distinction between them except in TotNTT.
Hell, I've recently been wondering, when Raven cries out to Azar as an exclamation or expletive or prayer, which one is she asking for? The original who led the Azaratheans (the most likely to be deified in this way, if you consider that the founders of a cult are usually the ones who get deified), or is she praying to the one she knew personally?
But then: When Raven said Azar was an "almost-goddess", it reads like she was talking about the one that raised her. Azar III clearly had a lot of power and a lot of religious sway over the people. She was, canonically, their High Priestess.
I like both the idea of this spiritual connection being to the original Azar AND the sentimental connection of being prayers to the woman who raised her, "the only person who treated [her] like [she] was something special."
So WHICH IS IT?
But damn it, I'm sick of trying to puzzle this out when neither feels like "the one true pure canon".
So essentially, I did... Extensive Thinking. I, uhh... let's say I looked into my heart and interrogated the "vibes" I get. And the thing is, I can't see much narrative or emotional function in them being completely different people. It just complicates things.
So they died. Hella canon. Probably an important part of Raven's backstory, losing That One Person. But what if, when one Azar died, her soul stayed to guide the Azaratheans further?
This explains why their name is apparently their title, and they don't have, say, Azar Samara and Azar Karina.
There's absolutely no evidence that the Azaratheans believe in reincarnation, in fact it's a bit of evidence to the contrary. But their souls ARE able to return to interact with the living world. This is hella canon. This is how they defeated Trigon.
(And how Phantasm v.2 happened, but that's a mess I'm not ready to untangle right now.)
Plus: Anyone who's ever read my in-depth rambles about Azarath knows I like to draw from real world anthropology and worldviews to fill in the blanks. There are multiple cultures in our real world that believe (or, believed) that ancestors can reincarnate in the bodies of their descendants. Now, I've never done a dive into these cultures specifically, but Azarath's most obvious real-world influences seem to be cultures whose worldviews include reincarnation.
So why not reincarnation within the family?
I've been writing this for an hour and I'm running out of steam, but this is the only solution I like to a canonical quandary that has bothered me for years.
At the very least, the multiple iterations, multiple bodies, might be different aspects of Azar's soul. Fragmentary reincarnation is another form real-world worldviews include, whether you want to talk about ancient practices or the modern hodge-podge spirituality in certain communities I'm in.
So yeah. I finally feel more at peace with The Great Azar Iteration Paradox.
And with Azarath on the brain, peace is pretty essential.
*Raven voice* Thank Azar.

I know this ain't a discourse place but there's a trend I've noticed in the 3..H fandom that I think needs a bit of a vent/discussion.
We've seen how the fandom engages in bi-erasure by claiming bisexual characters like YKB, Dorothea, Mercedes, etc are lesbians, but there's another uncomfortable bi-erasure that I've noticed: the bi-racial erasure.
I've seen this when it comes to Byleth and Claude especially: people supporting Byleth rejecting their Nabatean/Goddess heritage and embracing humanity in C///////F and then framing it as them "rejecting their destiny". And likewise people wishing Claude would reject their Fodlan side and fully embrace their Almyran heritage or even wish that he was full Almryan along with wanting to change his eye color.
It goes without saying this type of mindset is disgusting and to see the fandom embrace this almost unironically is just sad.
the bisexual erasure just makes me sad, don’t get me wrong. like, as a bisexual person, it just sorta hurts after a while. but the more pressing issue, to me at least... the race stuff. (i’d just like to preface that i am not mixed - fully Inuk, rather - but holy shit it’s still fucking racist to say “i wish this character wasn’t mixed race” even if they would go from half-poc-half-white to fully a poc)
i’ve said it already, but i won’t stop until it’s heard: i’m just gonna assume you’re actually straight up just racist if you think the Nabateans need to die because they aren’t seen as human, or aren’t human enough for you.
Byleth being half mortal, half Nabatean, but not “fully human” until they’re rid of their Nabatean half according to these See Eff people really discomforts me. why is someone of the race that founded the Empire, which split off into the entire continent of Fódlan (and therefore has been there from the very start,) only seen as a heartless beast? and why are people who are even just associated with her to blame as well? they’ve gone into hiding (their identities at least) so their bones wouldn’t be harvested like the rest of their race, their home was essentially made entirely unsafe for them for a thousand years. put yourself in their shoes. imagine having to hide who you really are so you wouldn’t be killed like your loved ones were. imagine never being able to see them again and being constantly reminded of their deaths because of the Crests - which is their blood - and the Relics - their bones, which are STILL MOVING. they’re just trying to survive after tragedy after tragedy that befell them. their goal isn’t to Rule Over Humanity, they want their goddess back, because maybe she’ll be able to make everything better. their world fell to ruin as she was killed, after all. i won’t go into why this is important for me (i’ve done so once already,) but i’m tired of people seeing Ms. Emperor dehumanising the Nabateans as a “good thing, actually.” it’s fucking not. it can make real life people who relate to them for whatever reason feel unsafe.
which brings us to Byleth “defying their destiny.” Sothis is gone after she fuses with Byleth and there’s no way to ever get her back again. the story cannot progress until Sothis is gone for good. Sothis was never meant to come back. Byleth’s destiny to be the goddess reincarnated was broken right then and there, since they’re unable to do much other than do what Sothis granted them: turning back time, of which use is very limited. they do not have the power to raise or entirely tear apart land or sea or sky or anything of the sort. so what they do afterwards is wholly up to them. (i’m of the firm belief that See Eff isn’t canon at all here.)
Rhea comes to accept that Byleth isn’t Sothis, nor will they ever be (in Silver Snow, which i see as the most canon route.) she knows then that Byleth is their own person. so their life is up to them, not some destiny.
and some people wanting Claude to be fully Almyran is something i can certainly understand, however... forgive me, i’m not a Claude expert by any means, but... isn’t him being mixed race a huge and important part of his character and route? him wanting everyone on BOTH sides of his family to accept each other instead of needlessly fighting each other? wanting to fix relations with each other and everyone else? his Fódlan half is just as important, for lack of a better word, as his Almyran half...

I am forcibly dragging you back to the stage GIVE ME MORE KNOWLEDGE
OKAY IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT MORE. since i did not watch The Dog's stream i will b referencing this post for most of my rambling.
so like. the first thing that sticks out to me is the canonization of the dream smp, obviously, but also empires. and this is for two reasons: both of these canons already have multiple realities/universes canonized within them. for the dream smp, we have c!cpk, who's a canonical dimension hopper; and for empires, we have shrub, who's backstory consists of her dimension-hopping onto the lands of s1 after her homeland was razed. cpk isn't what i'm gonna really focus on here, because to my knowledge, we don't really know a lot about his backstory (at least, not that i can find on the wiki. it doesn't even mention his dimension hopping, but considering its the dream smp wiki, i'm not surprised). i wanna focus on shrub.
so, shrub's backstory has her world being razed due to aeor banishing cohnal and exor's spirit; however, we also know that exor and aeor were gods in the lands of the empires smp. JUST like mianite, gods seem to exist in multiple (all?) realities, which is a SUPER interesting concept!! i'm using it, combined with mianite, to solidify this as more of a fact than a theory, going by the giga-verse concept. it also solidifies alternate realities existing in general, with c!pk possibly solidifying other realities in general (as in, not mirrors/similar to ours, but completely different realities with completely different people).
it also brings up an interesting possibility of, despite all existing within the same universe, each planet/solar system possibly being made by a different god. it'd explain how the gods were all still real, but how XD was able to make the dream smp and mianite was able to make, well, mianite. there's not "one" true creator, resposible for all of creation and the universe, but multiple ones designated to their own segments of reality.
REALLY focusing in on mianite though, i bring up my all-time favorite piece of lore: our universe is canon to their reality as another alternate dimension. by extension, that means our universe is canon to the dream smp, hermitcraft, empires, everything. and not in the sense that chat is canon, or twitter is canon, our actual reality. where their realities are just stories spun by creators behind a stream, broadcasted to hundreds of thousands around the world for entertainment. cc!ranboo is canon to the mcyt giga-verse, although in a different reality. that's not an au (not in the typical au sense, at the least), that's canon baby!!
i have so many more thoughts about the concept of death and the afterlife and whether it's the same throughout all planets/solar systems/galaxies, the implications of reincarnation and other lives, but that's. for another time. i have brainrotted enough here i think.

AITA for accidentally furthering discrimination as a child god? I (100M back then, 1000M now) was a god trapped inside my palace inside a room for a thousand years from since I was born up until now. Don't worry, I'm out now thanks to my friends and my citizens. I was meant to be the patron god of my country and the god of nature, but was locked up because my previous incarnation (who I am a reincarnation of) said that I'll eventually have the ruling family ousted from their position, who tricked me into locking myself up inside the highest elevation room to try to evade their fate. They're dismantled now.
As a result of being a nature god, I was supposed to be powerful but as a result of the being locked up thing and the being very far away from the ground thing, plus no training, I was left all on my own to try to figure shit out. I did my best, but again, I didn't always succeed.
There have been a group called the Unwanted--the name is bad, I know--who have been discriminated against for thousands of years, on basis of a combo of classism and religion mixed together. It's hard to explain, but basically, most people believe that everyone has a "place" in the world, and the Unwanted are the worst of the worst, and not worthy of even being in the same spaces as everyone else. As a child, about 100 years old, I wanted to help, but again, the whole locked up and have little power thing. Still, I tried my best to help them. I healed up their wounds best I could, made their crops and such grow better and faster, and generally tried to support them best I can. I even made entirely new medicinal plants and spices grow in areas where they live. I know it's not good enough, and I wish I could have done more, but the point is, I tried my best.
Unfortunately, as a kid, I was kinda naive and didn't think about the consequences that would have. Turns out, the main population started to notice the good things the Unwanted were starting to get and grew insanely jealous. This led to even more discrimination and violence to the Unwanted, especially over the mentioned plants and spices growing in the areas they lived in. This led to them getting pushed out of society even more than they were before.
I feel such intense guilt for perpetuating their discrimination, and I feel it's all my fault for not considering the consequences of my actions before I did them. I keep thinking that I should have figured out something different, or that I should have been more powerful. Just "or or or" in my head. I've been making plans to make amends with the Unwanted since I'm free now, and I confided in a friend about my mistake. Said friend said it wasn't my fault for being a literal child at the time and that people would have been discriminatory no matter what I did. I'm not sure though. AITA?

Hello lovely people of tumblr!! It’s been a loooong while since I posted any oc content but I am finally back with a new character that I can’t wait to share. Lately I’ve been re-watching Lego Monkie Kid and hearing about Nezha’s title of being the Lotus Prince gave me a cool idea I could use and implement into the LMK plot!!
Here is my LMK oc Jia Wèi! I do have a bit of info fleshed out for her but for now I will give the basic history and dynamics with the other characters!
Tumblr media
Here is a simple recap of her family history!!
Jia’s 10000x great grandfather traveled to the king of the time to tend to his beautiful garden as a florist and meets an half immortal residing there. the two grow close in the time he cares for the garden and they fall in love. The king noticing this happy relationship pardon’s the man and wife from their duties serving them and they get married and head off west to start their life. However, in one of Sun Wukong’s hasty dashes out of the celestial realm, a cherry blossom branch falls from he sky and in front of the couple’s path. The two, seeing this as a task from the jade emperor in proving their love and compatibility, care for the branch until it grows into a beautiful tree and they build their house around it. The tree is found to have healing properties in its petals and soon word spreads of the healing tree and the greed of wanting it surges throughout the country
After a few years a few thousand demons/spirits find out the couple have been guarding the tree and try to steal it. Luckily, sun Wukong is in the area and decides to help out two and wipes out most of the demons, however the last group of spirits end up getting close to the tree, causing the half immortal to protect the tree with her own body, gravely injuring herself in the process. SWK gets rid of the rest of the demons and goes to check on the half immortal who doesn’t have a lot of strength left to live for much longer. The man tries to use the petals to heal his lover but it is not enough and she is left in a comatose state. Monkey king seeing how selflessly the woman put herself in danger to keep the tree safe asked the jade emperor to let her spirit reside in the tree she vowed to protect, letting her watch over her family even as a spirit. The jade emperor agreed and allowed her spirit to be reincarnated into the 7th guardian of the cherry blossom tree (Aka Jia). The husband not wanting the tree or his wife to be in danger asked monkey king to put a protective spell around the house and tree, concealing their location from everyone who dares to seek it. SWK recites a spell that he remembers one of the celestial beings reciting and allows only himself and any family members to see around the barrier. To repay his generosity, the man allows SWK to take a small silk pouch of cherry blossom petals to use in any situation where he is injured and needs to be healed and he says he’ll be there to protect the family’s history.
From that point in SWK goes to visit the family every 50 or so years (excluding the time he was trapped under the mountain for 500 years) and takes his time to catch up with them. Over the years, the family and SWK call each other very close friends and he is there to witness the first moments of Jia’s life and many more after that. Jia had known the great monkey king was a part of her family history but didn’t get to spend time with him much until she was saved by him after traveling outside of the barrier and almost being attacked by demons. After that, the two grow close and have a cool uncle/curious niece dynamic. He teaches her some of the basics of how to wield a staff and re-tells all of his journeys and adventures which she absolutely adores. He stays with them for a few months or so during his retirement years until the start of the series where he has to go back and watch MK get the staff from DBK. They reunite during the events of early s3 and she joins him on the group’s adventure to claim the samadhi fire.
With the backstory out of the way, here are some of the relationship dynamics she has with the cast!
NOTE: NONE OF THESE MEANT FOR ROMANTIC SHIPPING!!
MK: see’s him as a brother and gives him some helpful advice in stressful situations regarding his powers/staff, they bond over their love and passion for monkey king stories
Mei: they are very much besties and Mei teaches Jia about modern inventions and Jia teaches Mei about different flowers and fan dancing!
Pigsy: they both learn a lot from each other in the art of cooking, she learns how to make noodles and food with more ingredients and Jia teaches him how to make mochi and other sweets (despite him not being the best at making them)
Tang: looks up to him a lot with his vast knowledge of Monkey King information and facts and calls him ‘Mr. Aster’ bc he is full of wisdom and brightens up with excitement like a star
Sandy: THEY ARE TEA BUDDIES, she loves visiting Sandy and they enjoy spending time together with all of his cats (especially Mo) usually confides in him when she has a problem or is stressed
Sun Wukong: see’s him as a family friend or the cool uncle that swings around from time to time to check on his sibling’s kids. Admires him for the noble feats he did on his JTTW, and calls him ‘Mr. Sunny’ or ‘Mr. Sunflower’
Macaque: doesn’t have much of an opinion on him, wants to help him feel happy again but they don’t talk much.
Nezha: do interact on a few occasions, post s3 got closer in bonds and communication. She calls him ‘Brother Lotus’ and she asks him about the celestial realm. They are good friends who admire each other and share the same amount of respect and curtesy for others.
Bai He (the girl LBD possessed): Post s3 they have a strong bond, Jia plays a older sister role and helps her with her nightmares about the period of time she was possessed by LBD.

Hold on, Fi has been in the Master sword long time now right. More than a thousand years, likely more than a million. Would she be the same Fi from Skyward Sword if she was let out again, or would it be a Zelda and Link situation where she is a reincarnation of her first self? Or more like a Breath of the Wild Link situation where she has no memories but has a vague sense of "this has happened before, hasn't it?" Or since she's a sword spirit, both? While in the sword permanently is she aware of what's happening outside or is she running more like a program. We saw the sword speak to Zelda in Breath of the wild yeah, but was that original Fi or an autopilot version of her that responded to Hylias power being nearby? Or was it Fi at all, it's shown Hylia herself is available for guidance even though she's supposedly reincarnated into a mortal form. Hylia could have talked through the sword to Zelda to give guidance.
At this point I think Hylia is the Goddess of Time briefly mentioned by Zelda in Majoras Mask. It gives some sense as to why Hylia can speak through the statues in botw and also be in mortal form via Zelda while she's holding off the Calamity. And all of the time travel involved in the series as a whole, it makes sense for Hylia to be the Goddess of Time in my opinion. And kinda explains why that little egg Guardian in aoc was able to traverse time after waking up from Zelda's magic, if anyone would be able to give that little Guardian time magic either through tinkering around or through accidental magic awakening it would be Zelda who has the blood of the goddess.
And after all of that, I am aware how unlikely any of this is. I just have fun overthinking about The Legend of Zelda and speculating. It's part of the fun of the series for me. I know any of my guesses, speculating, and head canons could be proven untrue at anytime. Although if Hylia isn't the goddess of time I will find it a wasted opportunity, with how much time travel is involved and time themed elements and other themes and elements in the series Hylia would be a perfect fit for the goddess of time. I won't be upset about it, not majorly anyway. I like the game series to much to stay upset over something that small if it where to happen.

It’s been a while since I've had an manga recommendation worth writing about. I feel like I've been neglecting that aspect of my blog, mostly because finding the time to actually sit down and write out something on these things is kind of a pain right now. Life has been getting in the way pretty regularly because of course it would, which is kind of frustrating because this blog is kind of how i wind down from life you know? It’s this, movies, and games. Those are how i relax. It’s an odd thing to say when I'm basically critiquing and generally hyper-focusing on stuff enough to write a relatively detailed breakdown about it but, you know, neurodivergence! Either way, there are a few manga that have caught my attention and i finally have the time to sit and gush about them. Prepare for a deluge if manga recommends in the coming weeks because i have a ton of them. To start off, i want to talk  a little bit about Eiyuu to Kenja no Tensei Kon. Now, this blog is chock full of Isekai recommends because there are just SO many Isekai out the right now. A lot of them are trash, can’t eve begin to front about that, but there are a few gems in there.
Tumblr media
Technically, Reincarnated • The Hero Marries the Sage ~After Becoming Engaged to a Former Rival, We Became the Strongest Couple~, isn’t an Isekai but it still hits all of those tropes. It’s more a Reincarnated type story, but even those are just Isekai tropes without the inherent Isekai triggers. Still, the strength of this particular take on those tropes, is the fact that they are just thematic in nature and take a backseat, almost immediately, to the characters, themselves. Eiyuu is about the Hero of the human Kingdom of Altein, Reid and the Sage of the Elf Kingdom of Vegalta, Elria, who clashed against each other in many battles before passing away, then being born again into a brand new world a thousand years into the future. They retained their memories, and insanely overpowered abilities, but have never lost that competitive nature or yearning for peace. A millennia later, the world they left behind, that world of malicious strife, has finally found rest and these two were given the opportunity to fully experience that peace they so longed for, so many years ago. This story isn’t about our two protagonist continuing their friendly rivalry. It’s not about two, wildly overpowered, people trying to change the world. No, it’s abut two friends, who happen to be the strongest in history, finding each other after crossing time, itself, and rekindling that intimacy into something more. It’s basically a slow burn romance comedy that just happens to star a reincarnated Hero and Sage. That’s why i love it so much.
Tumblr media
Now, I'm a sucker for this content, straight up. I love fantasy. Eiyuu is set in a fantasy world. I love romance. It’s very obvious this narrative is going toward that direction. I mean, the name has “Married” right in the title. The thing is, though, this sh*t i adorable! Like, the characters, themselves, are an absolute delight to read! That first chapter, alone, was more than enough to hook me and that’s rare. It usually takes three or four to really get me to commit but no! That first chapter told me exactly who these characters were, where they were going to go, and how the world, itself, functions. I read those scant thirty-one pages and was immediately captivated by the narrative presents. Like, i needed that next chapter, immediately. All credit has to go to Fujiki Washiro for that. Cat came through and promptly showed his skill but giving us, as readers, so much in so little space. thirty pages is nothing and yet, here i am, spilling my guts about his story. That makes since considering their bread and butter is in the light novel. Reincarnated doesn’t have a light novel counterpart but, considering how deftly it’s written, you wouldn’t know it. I’m curious if this earnest way of telling stories is found in their other works, like Holy Swordsman's Magic Sword ~Because I became the master of a lonely and healthy demon sword, I will do my best to love it~ ? Might be worth looking into later. Now, I'm a sucker for solid writing but i have the aforementioned light novels for that. What sets manga apart from those i the art and i can say that Eiyuu has some of the best I've seen in a while.
Tumblr media
The very first thing i noticed, in that very first panel, was the use of movement. I know that sounds absurd because it’s a static picture but, if you know anything about comics, there ways to make that happen and Nishi Riku really understands how to execute them. You can absolutely see those energy waves crashing around our protagonist while those magic formulas do their thing above. It is everything a splash page, a taste of what’s to come, should be but it doesn’t stop there. The action sequences are fantastic and feel properly devastating. You believe the damage done or the force of impact going forward. There is weight to these character designs and a realism caught up in this fantastical world. I love the whimsy and how the levity in the script is capture with Riku’s lines. There are legitimate examples of deadpan humor which are conveyed in a very direct, very theatrical, manner. This is particularly impressive considering that, you know, it’s conveyed through a goddamn comic book! This is all the more impressive when you take into account the this is Nishi Riku’s first work! Like, i can’t find anything else they’ve done! What?? How did this gem of an artist go unsung for so long?? Actually, i take that back. They have one credit under their belt, Oda Nobunaga to Iu Nazo no Shokugyou ga Mahou Kenshi yori Cheat Datta node, Oukoku wo Tsukuru Koto ni Shimashita, but that’s credited under Nishirikyuu so maybe not?
Tumblr media
Listen, i love this book so much. Eiyuu to Kenja no Tensei Kon is one of the few manga i read, for which i track updates. It’s just that good and I'm just that hooked. Never mind that it’s premise is a bit derivative and smacks of Isekai tropes, the character work, world building, overall writing, and exceptional art, more than make up for it’s overall tropiness. It rivals Chillin Different World Life Of The Ex-Brave Candidate Was Cheat From Lv2!, Ryuu to Ayumu Nariagari Boukensha-dou ~ Youzumi toshite S-Rank Party kara Tsuihou Sareta Kaifuku Majutsushi, Suterareta Saki de Saikyou no Shinryuu wo Fukkatsu Sasete Shimau ~ !, Nito no Taidana Isekai Shoukougun, Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita, Isekai Shikkaku, Kajiya De Hajimeru Isekai Slow Life, and Isekai Mokushiroku Mynoghra, as day-one favorites. The second these things drop, i am all over them and they have yet to disappoint. The other titles i just mentioned are both excellent and worth a read but they have a few chapters on Eiyuu. My darling fantasy romance is only four chapters in but it’s split into parts, so that count is more realistically at six or seven. We’re still waiting on part two of chapter four. I hate when they do that but it does keep you on edge for however long it takes for an update. Reincarnated • The Hero Marries the Sage ~After Becoming Engaged to a Former Rival, We Became the Strongest Couple~ is an exceptional read and i highly recommend giving it a shot. You won’t be disappointed!

To you, one thousand light years from now.
Nobody told me that being a star would let you dwell inside a crowd of loners, full of never ending loneliness. Then, there was a time I met you; another star that illuminated my eyes with your simple presence, among million stars laid upon the universe. Wisecracking fact that your light had been died before made me eager to give you my light, even I knew I weren’t bigger than The Sun. And still, without knowing who you are, I decided to travel the times with you and revolving together. Through many shades of sun, through many floating graves of stars; we somehow made a vow, straight from our hearts to live together.
Life had never felt so good. I recall how we joked about living as another Mars and Venus when we reincarnated in the next world we will inhabit—saying that nothing can stop our revolution since we are the perfect match for each other’s void. We were great; we were immaculately shining.
But one day, the synergy between us has gone. You were dead; I was dead. We both died as our light ran out. Thus, we both became dead stars, so, to what end we kept floating while we were dying when tangled to each other? You said,
“We can’t save us anymore. Break us. Let me explode when time comes.”
It was hurt.
It is hurt.
Until thousand light years in front of my eyes, parting from my dedicated planetary system is what makes me sad. I am no longer revolving on you, I am no longer see you as the center of my cosmic.
Though I have died in written fate that galaxy has carved on my kismet, my love is never died within heaven of memories about us. I don’t want to explode my dead body, as I want to remember you, again and again.
Dear you,
if you reborn as star once again, please, shine your brightest light. Be the sun to the another generation of Milky Way, be the sun of someone’s life—when I am no longer be able to sun-bathed under your warmth.
The karmafeith, 2023.
