Devil’s No 1(10)
Chapter 10: Present
Loki x fem!Reader, Bucky x fem!Reader
Theme: The definitions of devils, angels, demons etc. are twisted here in this world. But some things remain the same.
Series: Will contain violence, death, destruction, softness, fluff, smut, everything that my mind can conjure, really.
Chapter warnings: Alcohol, smoking, effects of depression, broken hearts.
A/N: This was written two years ago (I think) on @phantomrose96 ‘s prompt/situation of a shy girl summoning the devil to be friends with him (and something else that he does but I’ll leave that part out for you guys to have fun with). But I- being thirsty for tragedies- twisted things a little.
Word Count: I don’t have anything today

Hearts.
Accelerated breaths.
Synched beats.
Sweat and smoke.
Gazes running up and down you and your companion, taking you apart layer by layer.
Times like these, you were glad to have him by your side. In the sea of strangers, bringing your gaze back to him again and again, making sure he was right behind you, as close as you could keep him.
A brief brush of fingers on your waist and you felt- what felt like the very first time- these miniature sparks light your back at the thought of the devil's touch.
"Loki."
Your breathy whisper could not be heard over the music, that was for sure. But you did not bother. He was powerful enough to hear your heart rate at this point, right?
The grasp of the those fingers seemed to start running low on your waist, down your spine, making you catch your breath and turn around to face him but finding a stranger in his stead, pulling you to him, bringing your bodies closer than possible, your nostrils flaring at the smell of alcohol spilling from him ruthlessly on to you.
This time your breaths were getting faster for a completely different reason. "Loki!" You heard yourself shouting over the loud music, trying to pull yourself away from that stranger.
"Is that your safeword, sweet cheeks?" The husky voice- too rough for your nerves- sang in your ears, not budging even a little against your weak body.
Oh, the irony, your inner couldn't help but laugh at this. Safewords that are deadly? Indeed.
"Let me go," you wanted to rage but the moisture welling up in your eyes was betraying you. So was the aching shiver that your body was feeling. But that stranger ground into you, never bothering with the punches and withering anger in your words.
"You have to be worse than me to touch a woman without her consent."
Head whipped towards the source of that siren voice- one in relief, other in annoyance. Green eyes glowed in the darkness of this dull place while thin lips smirked at the scared Y/E/C eyes.
This time it did not take much to leave the unwanted embrace of this unruly excuse of a man to skip to Loki's side. "Do not leave me like that," you spewed at him while glaring at those smaragdines.
Anger. Loki could taste that around you along with those minty grains of relief. He liked it- that flavour. It left a good aftertaste on his taste buds. This made a part of him wonder if you'd taste the same. Or better? Another part of him glared down this unriveted feeling. She is just another soul. A little different, but a soul for his consumption nonetheless.
What he did not want to register to his multidimensional being was this flurry he felt whenever you intentionally came close to him; as you did right now, opening your tightly shut fist to run your fingers over his long coat, gripping hard on the seams, your back right into his chest not caring much for boundaries in the moment when you looked at that gruff stranger. He watched you- something he wanted to do while pausing time but right now he had something he wanted to take care of. Curse these pitiful humans.
There was a sudden chill in the stuffy club, sauntering onto the floor out of nowhere, greeting that stranger before wrapping itself all over him, making him curl into a ball on the floor, throwing curses at the barely amused angel before wobbling to the exit.
"Now," Loki declared softly, "shall we?"
One moment he was right next to you; the very next he vanished. So did the music hammering pins inside your skull, to be replaced by silence, humans paused on the dance floor, at the bar, in the lounge. No soul moved. None except the devil sitting high on the most comfortable sofa with a view of everything.
"Play however you like it." His voice echoed through the building.
...what.
.
Music. Drinks. Crowd. Everything was in your hands. At first, it was a mixture of shock and fear to witness the room filled with the music you wanted, the fragrance you preferred, the drinks you wanted to be served, the crowd that was decent enough. But as the night progressed, the lo-fi jazzy beats seemed to be simmering the heating waves of the place just the right amount. Loki sat on his throne, observing you, never moving a muscle- a surprise for you if you were honest. You thought he would be bored out of this dimension by now. Even if he was, he wasn't giving it away.
The whiplash this place was giving you had been too much; and so, the four drinks had been taken as a remedy.
I bet my liver hates me right now, you thought for a second before taking down a shot of tequila, letting the expensive brand go down your throat relatively smoothly, making the entire building swerve.
Better. So much better.
Wait, your inner voice popped out, I know what can make this ten times better.
The next thing you knew, a man was sitting beside you, a thin sheet of paper kept on the counter while he crushed and mixed this concoction in another before transferring it onto the paper, rolling it, lighting it up and offering it to you.
"...I-"
"It's the cleanest stuff," the man said, handing you the blunt before walking off.
"I don't...I don't know how to smoke," you declared softly, more for yourself than for him, before taking a drag, letting it go inside your lungs and coughing them out while cursing yourself. But that didn't stop you from trying again. And again. And again, till the swerving room seemed lighter and brighter than before. The once dull lights now glowed with shimmering rainbows, creating kaleidoscopic patterns, the dust falling with the tunes around you, the liquids in the bar creating music of their own.
Everything felt so...light.
Your insides seemed less tighter, relaxing you for the first time in a long while. You could feel the heat in your cheeks, the rusty taste of that blunt, the coldness of that marble of the counter. You could feel it all.
Giggles erupted involuntarily, surprising you and the angel sitting in the dark.
"Ohhh, so this what you wanted, huh?" You stated in Loki's direction- even though you couldn't see him clearly, courtesy of that herb you just offered your lungs. "Me doing stuff I wouldn't normally do. Mm. You really are the devil. God! I cannot believe for the first time in ages I feel-" you inhaled and close your eyes, the look almost orgasmic- "so good. So. Good. And I cannot believe it's when I meet the Devil! I hate myself so much right now. I hate that this is the first time I can see myself thinking straight even though I can't stand straight enough. I hate that I'm at the brink of my end I get to come back-" you looked around at the place in tones of melancholic nostalgia- "here. I hate that my life is in ruins and I do not have one ounce of energy to make it right." Your voice rose higher despite you still riding on that wave of relaxation, the frustration pouring out from your words. "And I hate that I brought you here and I HATE THAT IT FEELS SO GOOD!"
Your words rang through the walls, almost silencing everything. You tried to catch your breath. "I hate you, Loki," your broken voice stated between blurry eyes, "I hate it so much that I like it."
You never heard the footsteps but you did feel his presence. It was not hard to notice the void that came to surround you whenever he was around. And his void seemed much more expendable than your own.
"There's no need to seed the guilt in the ground, my love."
His voice sends your neurons into current of bliss. Why? Why of all the damned things in this world, does he feel so...
"This world created complexities to keep your soul in check." He removed that one wild strand of your hair away from your face, letting your skin feel his cold touch; the coldness you were already leaning into. "Pity that it takes so many cracks to realise nothing is holding you back from living like they don't want you to."
His thumb ran over your excessively heated cheeks, taking that single tear falling down, absorbing it.
"I don't like this world," you sobbed through the pieces of your heart, never wanting that cool touch to be separated from your skin, "I cannot take the hurt anymore. It's too much. I'm not made for this. Take me."
Loki tsked while stroking you cheek, taking the other one in his other hand, feeling you heave a sigh of exhaustion. "No, my love," he rendered softly, "this world is not made for you." And it is high time those ethereal beings realised that.
Your hands curled around his wrists, letting his bitter skin drink in their scorched surfaces. "What am I supposed to do, Loki?"
‘Twas a flutter. A flutter seen in those green eyes as their prolonged gaze on you shivers. The cause? The breathy exhale of his name through those swollen lips. What in heaven is this unexplainable curiosity towards this woman?
"You're supposed to do what your heart desires," he announced just for you, making you look up towards his face that was nothing but flawless in your eyes, incomparable to anything in this world, "you're supposed to break away the chains of that which hurts and stops you. You are meant to soar through the galaxies, darling. But for now, you just have to wish. I will do and undo that which you seek, my precious mortal."
You eyes were a dark pool that the devil felt obliged to dive into; scour the deepest trenches and find the welcoming darkness to play with, find out what your deepest fears were, discover those human chains formed inside you to break them with a snap and watch the world burn as you broke free. He wanted to witness it all. Because if anyone he had seen be worthy of bringing chaos down on this world, it was y-
"Sing for me."
Silence. The devil blinked.
"...I beg your pardon?"
.
The man standing behind the marimba pulled up his sleeves and readied his bars, turning towards the spotlight.
Loki walked on the platform into the light, standing close to the microphone, basking in the attention of the crowd patiently waiting to hear him. But he was concerned with the one who had just walked through the crowd, gone up a few steps to sit right where he had; something inside him feeling a positive trepidation at the sight of you sitting up there. He was already imagining you in a fashion much more suitable to his drive.
Green eyes gave one look to the man, who nodded and inhaled before striking his marimba to produce a low rhythm of beats that were alleviating to the ears till one stressed long enough to hear the ominous note they carried.
Loki smiled in your direction, letting his pale slender finger wrap around the mic and inhale for the first verse.
I'm in too deep You're the fix I've come to need Ooh no, look what you've done to me
Magic. Pure magic poured from those lips. A waterfall you were willing to drown in.
You caught me off guard Then tore my world apart Ooh no, this thing has gone too far
You forgot how to breathe. This was nothing your ears had heard before. And those words directed at you were not helping at all. Is that what sirens sounded to the pirates?
It's too late I can't escape
Was that supposed to mean something? You did not know. You could only wait and find out. A blink later there was nothing on the platform but a presence right next to you.
Only a devil like you Could make me sin like I do I've got a weakness I am a fool For a devil For a devil like you For a devil like you
A finger teased your skin, almost making you curl back into your private space. But that didn't stop the devil from making you arch your back at the presence of his fingers on your back, with him sitting behind you- you in between his legs. Curse those magical hands. Curse that devious brain.
You're guilty, as charged My soul bares the marks Ooh no, I'm just as bad as you are You are my wicked thrill
The words were whispered right into your ears, while hands wrap themselves around your waist, your own fingers digging into the cushion of the seat to stop you from doing something you might regret.
I just can't get my fill Ooh no, this kind of living could kill It's too late I can't escape
You turned to face him, wanting to breathe in more of that face up close. But just as you did, he disappeared again, to come back on the platform, those green eyes lighting up on watching you trying to find him.
Only a devil like you Could make me sin like I do I've got a weakness I am a fool For a devil For a devil like you For a devil like you
He was mocking you. Watching you trying your best to bring your breathing back to normal- something you had long forgotten. But what surprised him midst the performance was you getting up, staring him down to your fill, never letting your stare waver even as you came down the steps, the crowd dispersing to make way for you, watching go for the stairs of the platform, stepping up and walking towards him.
Only a devil like you Could make me sin like I do I've got a weakness I am a fool For a devil For a devil like you
With every step closer to him, the resolve in your eyes got stronger.
For a devil like you
Loki could see you not stop. Those slow and steady steps of your testing the Devil's patience. He turned towards the crowd, the grip on the mic getting a tad tighter.
For a devil like you
He did not see it coming. Your thoughts unknown to him. Your eyes an opaque curtain for anyone who was trying to look beneath. And you? You were done calculating. What would one more regret do to me tonight. He can't kill me twice.
For a devil like you
The verse barely ended from his lips when your fingers were grasping his chin, bringing your lips onto his. Even though time worked differently for Hell's Overlord, it seemed to let out a muted gasp and make everything still for the Devil to register the voluntary taste of those lips on his vessel, finding the true sweetness underneath the wretched alcohol and smoke. And when that wasn't enough, he was stirred by the unnamed introduction of your tongue on his lips, leaving time to cower in fear for what was to happen next.
For the first time in the history of mankind, the Devil had been shut up for good.

Missing You _ BYG’s fanfic
It was a usual Sunday morning where I was doing my routine that was to jog. I put on my trainers and closed the gate before I headed to the park nearby. The Seonyudo Park. This park was full of scholars majority the poetry and arts major courses went to get their inspiration. The park has small gardens each holding a type of water plants and aqua animals such as lilies and goldfishes. This park is located in the middle of the famous Han River and it gives a spectacular and breathtaking view of the river and it’s surrounding. There’s also a traditional pavillion that overlooks the river, a cafeteria, a green house and an exhibition hall on the river’s history.
I jogged there with my earphones plugged in my ears listening to K.Will’s Love Blossoms. Oh, how the song matched today’s weather. I jogged while enjoying the scenery which could put my mind to ease from the busy working days. I jogged past through a few trees that shaded me from the sun’s radiating heat. I smiled. As I jog, I heard a voice. A too familiar voice. I halted and looked around. I spotted no one except a couple on a bench talking and in their own world. Seeing them made me feel sad. I looked at the happy couple, think how fortunate they are to be together and so happy, reminding me what I used  to have. I continued to jog to clear my head of her telling myself that I need to move on. As my head cleared up, that voice again. This time, it sounded closer. And familiar.
I frantically searched for the voice but found none. My heart sped and I decided to take a break. I sat on a nearby bench under a large shady tree overlooking the lake. I looked around again in case I spotted the voice before I closed my eyes trying to calm my nerves. My heart calmed down a little but sped up again this time as I heard the voice again. This time it was nearer. As if it was right beside me. I heard the voice yet I didn’t do anything as I thought I might be hallucinating it. Hallucinating about her.  As my mind started to clear, I felt a tug at my sleeves. A few tugs made me opened my eyes. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I was greeted by a face that made my mouth gape at the sight of her in front of me. “Excuse me sir, can I have my cardigan back? You’re leaning on it”, said the female. “Oh…uh, yeah”, I said standing up and handed her the minty-coloured cardigan that I didn’t noticed before. “Thank you”, she said politely and started to walk off. I snapped from my stance and quickly grabbed her wrist. I spun her around and immediately pulled her towards me, hugging her tightly breathing in her scent. Hmm, she still smelled the same. A minty scent for her sweet-minty personality. “Uh sir, what are you doing? Can you please let me go?”, she said struggling to get out of my grasp.
I looked at her searching for her eyes that she was joking right now. That she joked on not remembering me. That she joked on not missing me. I hugged her tight and said : “Where have you been? Do you know that I’ve missed you so much? How could you leave me like this? Don’t you love me, Sora?"
This time she struggled so hard that I had to let her go. "Urm sir, I think you’ve got the wrong girl. We absolutely don’t have a history together and by the way, how do you know my name?”, she asked looking at me with her concerned light blue eyes. I felt like I wanted to laugh. How can I be mistaken of her to someone else. She’s my girl and mine only. It was impossible for me to mistaken her of someone else.  "How can you forgot me, Sora? Of course I know you. You’re my girlfriend. How can I forget you? We’ve been together for 3 years. 3 years, Sora! That is, until you left me. But, you’re back now, right? You’re not going to leave me again, right?“, I said my voice wavered a bit as she said didn’t know me. That was impossible, right?
"Look, sir. I think you have mistook me of someone else. Yes indeed, my name is Sora. Lee Sora to be honest”, she said giving me her concerned look that she always gave to misfortune people. “But, that’s impossible. Your face looks like her. Your voice. Your appearance. Your smell. And even your name. The way you speak. Everything are the same as her. How can you not be her?”, I said my voice started to raise a bit in panic. A few people casted glances at us but I ignored them.
Kang Sora shook her head and motioned me to sit. I obeyed imeediately. “Sir, we may look alike but that doesn’t mean we’re the same person. Do you know that everyone has 7 identical person? And that includes us too”, she said holding my hands in her small palms. I started to come sense and was hit with a pang. “I’m sorry. I - I didn’t mean to - I mean, you look like her. Really, really like her. It’s like a clone of her”, I said my voice lowered as I came to realization that she’s not here with me. That she’s not comeing back.
“It’s okay. Maybe you want to talk about it? I don’t mean to intrude but you look like someone that needs a shoulder to cry on.”
“Do I? Hmm. Maybe I do. But not now. I don’t feel like talking about it.”
There was a moment of silence fell upon us. "Urm, I guess I should go", she said more of a question than a statement. “No. I mean, can you spend the day with me? I - I really miss her and I was hoping that if I could spend a day with her - even if it’s not the real her - I could let her go and moved on”, I said and my voice got quieter and quieter realizing how selfish I sound. Of course she would reject. Why would she accept?
“Sure.”
Her answer made me snapped my head towards her that I literally could hear my neck bone cracked. She smiled at me and asked for my name. “Yongguk. It’s Bang Yongguk ”, I replied.
We discussed on where should we head first and I’ve found out that she lovedstheme park. So, we decided to go there since it was her favourite place too. We tried various games and I had to catch up on her since she was running around like a little child. We even went on the rollercoaster that had double loop even though I had to convince her on riding it with me.
Later in the evening, we went to the vendor streets where you could find all of the streets food are available and freshly made. We tried on the famous spicy tteokbeoki in which you would cry in 5 seconds. Hahaha, joking. Tteokboki is a type of food made of rice cakes in spicy red pepper paste sauce.
I tried not to cry when eating it but it went into the drain because the tteobeoki were extremely spicy and I couldn’t really stand spicy food. After eating it, we deicded to search for food that could ease our burning mouth, so we headed to the nearest stall which was the Odeng (fish cakes). It costs about 500 won a stick and it was the cheapest food that you could find on the streets. The Odeng was skewered on a stick and was left in a delicious broth which happens to be free.
After wandering around the streets and sniffing the air of delicious smells, we came across Seondae which means Blood Sausage. These blood sausages are common foods around the world. Korea’s version of it uses coagulated pigs blood, glass noodles and barley, with pig or cow intestines for the sausage skin. They also come with a fe slices of liver or lung on the side. Both of us were grossed of that food and she dared me to eat one. How dare she?
“Lol, sorry can’t eat that. The last time I tried it, I vomitted green and my body turned jelly after that”, I said in defeat.
As night came, we decided to head back to the park and looked at the glimmering stars and the beautiful full moon. We sat on a bench that overlooked the lake and stared up. “Hey Sora. Sorry for thinking that you were my girlfriend. It was just - I can’t let her go. I can’t forget her. I can’t accept the fact that she had left me”, I said after a few minutes of silence.
“It’s okay. I understand. Why did she left you?”, she asked looking at me. I smiled at her grimly. “She had to leave me because she was … murdered”, I said and saw that Sora gave no reaction.
“I - I really miss her. Everyday I dream about her. About both of us. Our happy moments. Our sad moments. Our first argument. Hahaha. Oh how I wish she was here. I said to myself everyday that she’s not here, she’s not coming back, that she’s in a place where she’s happy and she would be sad if she sees me cry. I told myself that I need to move on and everyday I think that I had moved on until I met you. I have realized that I have not moved on yet and I hope after this day, I would be able to move on and be happy”, I said looking up at the stars twinkling brightly thinking that Sora, my Sora would be up there watching over me having this conversation with a clone of her that I’ve met today.
“I hope that you would be able to move on, Yongguk because - because I’m Sora. I am your Kang Sora”, she said holding my hands. Before I could say anything, her lips were on mine. Our kiss was slow but filled with emotions. Emotions for each other that were held back and nowhere to pour in unless it was the right person. Our kiss was a kiss where you could feel all the emotions whether they were anger, sadness, sorrow, guilt and most of all love.
“I’m sorry that I left you. That I left earlier. I suffer up there knowing and watching you live your life in sorrow, living like a time bomb waiting for its turn to blow up. It hurts me alot that I can’t help you to ease the pain, the scars that I left until today”, she said looking at me.
At this point, I knew that I shouldn’t believe her but my heart tells me that I have to because she’s telling the truth. That she’s mine, my Kang Sora. I didn’t realized that I’ve been crying until I felt her hands wiping away the tears that flowed freely. I cried in her hands telling her that I was sorry for not be able to protect her like I promised to, telling her how I wish I could rewind everything. I pour out everything and cried my eyes out till I was out of breath and for the first time since that incident, I smiled. A genuine smile.
“Yongguk, I’m sorry but I have to go. I hope that you would be able to move on and live a happy life. Don’t weep on me. You will make my eyes misty”, she said. I nodded and pulled her to a deep kiss. A kiss which may be our last and oh I wish this moment would stop. If it was the reality, I don’t want to close my eyes and if it was a dream, I don’t want to see the sun.
We broke apart and I watched her body changed to glimmering litte stars and felw to the sky, to the serene stars and watched them twinkled brightly.
~~~~~~~~
I was awake by a blinding, warmth light from my side and I looked around. I was on my bed and outside the sun shone brightly indicating that it was a new day. I sat on the bed confused on how I ended up there and I tried to recall yesterday’s event. I remembered everything starting the point where I left my house till the day she went to the sky in glimmering little stars. I thought that it was just a dream and that it was impossible for things like that to happen in this modernised world until I saw what my hand gripped on. It was the minty - coloured cardigan in which she had used yesterday.
I brought it to my nose and smelled it. It smells the same. Her minty scent. I noticed that there was a slight budge in its pocket and I took it out. It was a note. After I read the note, I smiled. Now I know, that it was not a dream but a reality. A reality that no one would ever believe it except me.
“I’m yours and always be. I love you."
