eddie munson dating a mean fem!cheerleader who’s only nice to him <3
-
“sorry I didn’t hear you bitch, what?!”
the loud bang and voice causes the conversations amongst the cafeteria starts to quiet down. all heads turning to the source where the voice coming from. including eddie, who has his eyes bug out like a kid getting caught sneaking his hand into the cookie jar. immediately knowing who that voice belongs to.
it’s you.
you have your hand on a somegirl’s head, pressing it against an empty table. it draws so many peoples attention with their terrified expressions written on their faces. some of them are even whispering to each other wether or not to help the poor girl out and take you away, but they know better than to upset you.
“dude… you should go there” dustin leans over to eddie with a soft whisper, as if he’s afraid that you’ll hear him. “she’s gonna kill her.”
“eh” he munches on his fries, a proud smirk plasters across his face, eyes never leaving you. “let her. she’s fucking hot when she gets feisty.”
dustin gapes at him, “what kind of boyfriend would let their girlfriend kill another girl?!”
“me” he simply answers, feeling himself growing more turned on when he watches you furrow your brows in anger and teeth gritting, while putting your mouth close to the girl’s ear, threatening her more.
oh he’s definitely fucking you from behind later,
“I-im sorry” the blonde girl chokes out, her eyes are shut in fear and body won’t stop shaking due to your rough grip around her shitty ponytail. “i promise … p-please-“
“yeah, you promise right? because if i saw you do what you did again, i will fucking come for you, you stupid fuck” you harshly say against her ear, throwing her shaking body to the floor, earning loud gasps from around. “racist bitch.”
with that, you fix your skirt and sleek your messy hair back and turn around. seeing a bunch of bewildered looks on students making you scoff and roll your eyes. “the fuck are you guys looking at? go do something!”
in seconds, the crowd begins to break. not giving you nor the girl laying on the floor any more attention. though the tension is still there.
you begin to scan through the crowd, trying to find your boyfriend. and the moment you lock eyes with him, your frown is replaced with a bright smile, squealing as you hurriedly walk over to his table in your gogo boots. he instantly stands from his seat, mirroring your expression with his arms wide open.
"puddin!" you call, quickly jumping onto him.
"hi baby" he chuckles, keeping a tight grip around your waist. "quite a show you put on there" he nods to the crying girl.
"oh, that?" you innocently point out, "well she did something bad so I had to talk to her."
he sits back down in his chair, patting his lap for you. "talked? think you did more than that, sweetheart."
"oh well." you shrug, crossing your legs as you keep your arms around his shoulder, playing with his chocolate curls. "she deserved it."
"what did she do?" gareth pipes in, glancing down at your exposed thighs. gulping as he begins to check you out.
unfortunately, eddie notices, frowning in disappointment. "hey! eyes off my girl you little shit" he warns, pointing a finger at him. glaring at the curly-headed fellow.
gareth's eyes widen, face turning red in embarrassment as he looks away making you giggle.
"oh don't worry about him gar-bear. he's just a little protective." you cup eddie's cheeks, turning him to look at you. "you're still my man, baby." you plant a kiss on his lips, causing the table to groan in disgust.
"oh shut up. if you had a hot piece of ass for a girlfriend like y/n. you'd let her do whatever she wants to you." eddie slaps your ass a bit, making you jump.
"yeah yeah, you have a girlfriend now. we get it." mike waves him off, eyes rolling. "you didn't answer the question, y/n."
"what? oh yeah! she was making fun of your club. and said some very very offensive remarks about eddie and lucas." you shrug, twirling one of eddie's locks. "I had to do something, obviously. can't let that bitch get away with what she said. i had to get physical."
"it was?" eddie's heart begins to warm. never in his life had someone defended him like that. "oh sweetcheeks, you didn't have to."
"uhm, yes i did have to." you reply in an obvious tone, "you mean a lot to me. and I know these guys and the club mean so much to you, baby. so that makes them important to me as well."
“i fucking love you, you know that?” he sighs dreamily, tucking away the loose curl from your face. “if i could take you right here-“
the hellfire kids immediately groan, covering their ears as they complain to their ‘master’ about his sexual implication. hearing that only makes you laugh even more and for eddie to roll his eyes back.
“woah woah dude, not at lunch please. it’s gross.”dustin begs, shaking his head in disgust as he points down at the meal.
“well” you start, biting your lip while standing up. “i saw chem class is free, you wanna go there with me so we can-” you’re immediately cut off by eddie jumping off from his seat right away nearly tipping the chair down. eyes wide in excitement as he nods vigorously
“yes. fuck yes. i need you right now, you don’t need to ask” he desperately begins, hands wrapped around your waist as the go down to squeeze your ass. not caring that people are probably watching. “think i can get you off in fifteen, baby?”
“i like to see you try” you purr, batting your lashes at him. “because i’m planning to get you off in ten.”
he lets out his shaky sigh“jesus fuck- i gotta go guys. move the meeting later after school.” he turns to say to his friends while grabbing your arms tight and rushes away with you who’s giggling like crazy.
“what- no! eddie!” dustin calls out his name, watching the two lovebirds disappear from the cafeteria. he sighs in frustrations, hands on his hips as he hears the piles of complaints coming from the guys.
“fucking horn dogs”

(happy happy happy happy happy birth-dae to @strawberryspence ilysm my Wendy’s frosty and chicken tenders friend. I hope you enjoy 💛🍓)
Steve was having one of those days. Then again, he seemed to have a lot of those after two run-ins with an evil alternate dimension combined with the aftermath of his "bullshit" relationship with Nancy. Luckily his parents weren't home to add to the general mood of things, but that just left him with a too big, empty house.
As soon as he got inside, he turned around and went back to his car. He knew where to go.
The drive was on the longer side, but Steve didn't mind. He felt like he could finally breathe when he saw the Leaving Hawkins sign. A few miles later, he pulled into one of the spaces beside a small diner.
He walked in and waved to Linda who smiled sweetly at him. He remembered a few years ago when he had first met her after taking his dad's keys and driving far away from his parents. Linda had given him a free meal and lingered around, letting him rant and not judging him for the things he said about his asshole parents and friends. She had simply listened and told him that he reminded her of her son when he was younger.
When Steve eventually left, Linda had told him that he could stop by anytime, and she would likely be there. She also hinted that maybe he should take a bus next time because he looked a little too young to drive. Steve had blushed and ducked his head at the comment, but Linda had just laughed and told him things would get better.
And it seemed like every time Steve came back, things would eventually get better.
But he can't help but feel a little jilted when he notices that his corner booth which is always available is suddenly not. He can't see whoever is sitting there as they face away from the door. Their shoulder-length curly hair sticks out to him, but he wonders if that has to do with Nancy.
He knows he should just find another booth or table or even sit at the bar, but Steve can't help but wonder who is sitting at his table. So, he approaches them slowly, noticing how they're bent over some book or something scribbling away only with a pink-tinted milkshake on the table.
He clears his throat when he gets closer, and the person looks up with big, brown eyes curious at first before becoming closed off.
"Munson," Steve says, not sure what emotion he's feeling because he was the last person he imagined to be here.
"Harrington," Eddie replies, sounding a bit irritated.
Steve frowns. "Why are you sitting at my table?"
Eddie looks around before saying, "Funny, I didn't see a sign."
"You know what I mean."
Eddie closes the notebook in front of him before he leans back and crosses his arms. "Do I?"
Steve runs a hand through his hair and rests his hands on his hips. "I sit here every time I come here."
The corner of Eddie's mouth quirks up into a small smirk. "Thanks for explaining, but I'm not moving for you, Your Highness." He tilts his head down in a mock bow that irks Steve.
"Thankfully, you’re not sitting in my side of the booth," Steve says as he slides into the bench on the opposite side of Eddie.
Eddie looks at him blankly for a few seconds and takes a sip of his milkshake. He swallows and says, "Just don't dump this on me, okay?"
"Why would I do that?"
Eddie rolls his eyes. "Why would King Steve humiliate The Freak? What a great question."
Steve frowns. "I haven't done anything to you before."
"And nothing is stopping you now."
Steve snorts. "It sounds like you almost want me to. Which I won't by the way. If that was seriously something you were worried about."
Eddie narrows his eyes at him as if expecting something as he clutches his notebook a little tighter.
Steve gestures toward it. "What that?"
Eddie frowns and looks down at the book. "You wouldn't care."
"Try me."
Once again, Eddie stares at him. This time Linda interrupts as she slides a burger with fries in front of Steve. "Everything okay here?"
Eddie and Steve both nod, but Linda raises her eyebrows at Steve as if saying behave.
Steve takes the message and kindly pushes the plate a little toward Eddie saying, "You can take a fry if you want."
Eddie stares at the plate and considers it.
"I promise in the time Linda brought it to me and I pushed it to you, I didn't poison it." Eddie still doesn't take a fry, so Steve reaches over, grabs one, and takes a bite. "See?"
Eddie looks at him and says, "Can never be too sure." But he takes a fry and dips it in his milkshake before taking a bite.
Steve's eyebrows furrow.
Eddie does the same thing with the other half of his fry and asks, "What?"
Steve grabs another fry. "What flavor milkshake is that?"
"Strawberry."
Steve frowns again as Eddie sighs. "I get a fry in a vanilla milkshake maybe, but strawberry?"
"Don't knock it before you try it," Eddie says pushing the glass toward him.
Steve stares at it tentatively.
"Unless you're afraid of double dipping after a freak."
With that comment, Steve looks Eddie in the eye, dips a fry into the shake, and bites into it. And it's not... unpleasant. He even takes the other half and tries more. "It's not bad. But I'm still confused about the choice of a strawberry milkshake."
It seems to be the wrong thing to say as Eddie retreats back into his shell a bit.
"I'm just more of a vanilla or chocolate guy," Steve tries to clear the air.
Eddie glances up and shrugs. "I used to get one here with my mom."
"Not anymore?" Steve can't help but ask.
"Considering that she's six feet under, no"
Steve's heart jumps at the response. He doesn't really know what to do other than reach over and rest a hand over where Eddie's rests. "I'm sorry."
Eddie glances down at their hands and shrugs. "Happened a long time ago. There's no need for all that."
Steve squeezes his hand one more time before pulling back. "Still sucks," he comments before biting into his burger.
"It is what it is." Eddie looks away and shakes his head before stating, "So, you've obviously been here often. When did that start?"
Steve finishes his bite and shrugs. "A few years ago. I tried to run - or rather drive - away from home. But I ended up here. I've been back whenever I need a break and to know that things will get better."
"How are things looking right now?"
"Better," Steve says with a small smile. He pushes his plate toward Eddie again. He takes the hint and grabs another fry.
"You know, chicken tenders taste pretty good with the milkshake too."
Steve laughs. "I'll have to take your word for it."
Eddie smiles, revealing his dimples, and Steve can't drag his eyes away.
Steve finishes his burger as Eddie makes a dent in his fries - not that he minds. The silence between them is nice, comfortable even. Steve's not sure the last time he's had a moment like this with someone.
Eddie glances up at him and hesitantly asks, "Did you really want to know what the notebook's for?"
Steve nods and leans across the table to get a better look as Eddie opens it up, explaining his D&D plans and showing off his drawings. As he flips the page and reveals a drawing of the Demogorgan, Steve slips out of the booth and sits next to Eddie, getting a closer look. "That's not what I expected it to look like."
Eddie looks at him. "You know what the Demogorgan is?"
"I kind of babysit these kids who play Dungeons and Dragons, so yeah. I know of it," Steve somewhat lies.
Eddie continues to stare at him in disbelief, and Steve finally realizes how close they are. He finds that he doesn't mind the small distance between them, and he especially doesn't mind the way Eddie's cheeks get a little pink before he turns away to flip through more pages.
And as much as Steve is impressed by all the effort and obvious talent that went into his notebook, he can't help but get a little distracted by Eddie himself.
He doesn't leave his side of the booth, opting to keep the close proximity, knees knocking into each other and fingers brushing as they reach for the plate of fries.
Steve doesn't want to leave his little booth, and he doesn't think he wants to come back later if Eddie won't be there.
But as it starts to get darker outside, Eddie glances at his watch and curses, "Shit, I need to get home before my uncle leaves for work."
"You can leave now, I'll pay for your shake."
Eddie looks at him, and sighs, "Thank you." He squeezes Steve's hand before they both scoot out of the booth.
They both have a moment where they linger and stare at each other, unsure of what happens next. They both know the dumb social hierarchy at their school and even with Steve's fallen status, Eddie's friends would never accept him. So maybe this is it.
"I'll see you around," Steve says, laying a hand on Eddie's arm and squeezing, lingering a little longer than he should.
"I'll see you around," Eddie echoes, hesitating for a moment before leaving.
Steve lets out a deep breath as he sees him walk out the door. Things will be better. They have to be.
-:-:-:-:-:-
This is definitely not the way Steve thought Eddie would be reintroduced into his life, and more than anything, he wishes Eddie wasn't involved in this. He just wants to go back to the sanctuary that is Linda's Diner. And he wants her to tell him that everything will be better.
Instead, he instructs Dustin to grab Eddie a strawberry milk from the store, and later grumbles without being able to explain why when Dustin comes back with a Yoohoo.
"Who the hell drinks strawberry milk? Chocolate milk is the obvious choice," Dustin defends.
Steve's heart tugs a little when he remembers having nearly an identical conversation.
-:-:-:-:-:-
(Ending 1)
Steve wipes at his tears as he drives away from Hawkins, getting stuck in the traffic almost immediately as everyone tries to get away from the cursed town.
He can’t do this right now. He doesn’t want to be given time to think about Eddie.
He pulls over to the shoulder and speeds along, ignoring all the car horns going off as he passes. He just needs to get to the diner.
A few miles later, he quickly turns into a space next to the small building and gets out quickly, rushing inside to his little sanctuary.
But as he stares at his table, he only gets memories of Eddie sitting across from him and next to him. And he feels like he can’t breathe here anymore.
But he still sits down in the booth, taking Eddie’s side instead, facing away from anyone who might enter.
He can’t be gone.
He sits in silence, staring at the place where Eddie’s notebook used to lay, where they shared a plate of fries, where Eddie’s strawberry milkshake used to sit.
A plate is slid in front of him, and Linda appears quietly at his side, knowing that he doesn’t want to talk about it. But when she slides a singular strawberry milkshake in front of him, he finally breaks down.
Maybe the town of Hawkins wasn’t just cursed. Maybe strawberry milkshakes were too.
-:-:-:-:-:-
(Ending 2. Aka an apology for ending 1)
Steve can’t sit still in the waiting room of the hospital. He has too much that was left unsaid. Too much at stake. But the doctors say it’s touch and go. And he has to wait.
Steve finally sees Eddie’s uncle, someone who was mentioned to him forever ago but has appeared sporadically in Steve’s thoughts. He wondered where Eddie’s dad was. Why he lived with his uncle. If his uncle was kind to him. If his uncle was on his dad’s or mom’s side. How he took the news when Eddie’s mom died. When he took Eddie in.
There were so many questions that were left unanswered because Steve was a coward. God, he wishes he would’ve seen that there were bigger, more important things than the school hierarchy. But even when he was fallen, there was a reputation he needed to somewhat uphold.
Steve doesn’t know how much longer he can take the waiting and thinking. He just needs a break from it all. He needs… Linda’s Diner.
He jostles Dustin awake and lets him know that he’ll be back in a while. Dustin just kind of gives him a look before shrugging and mumbling, “Okay.”
Robin grabs his hand, asking if he needs her to go with him. But he shakes his head and lets her know he’d rather her stay here and update him when he comes back.
He leaves the hospital quickly, racing to his car and speeding down the roads to the small dinner. He can’t help it. He needs to know that everything with get better as soon as he can.
When he gets there he takes a moment before going inside, looking away from his booth when all he can recall are the memories of Eddie. Instead, he heads to the bar and asks Linda for a strawberry milkshake to go.
After she puts in the order, she walks up to Steve and lays a hand over his. “Is he okay?” She asks gently.
Steve should’ve known that she’s seen the news, but he’s relieved to find that she knows Eddie isn’t guilty. That he would never be capable of the horrible things he’s been accused of.
“He’s touch and go right now,” Steve admits, trying not to let his bottom lip quiver too much.
Linda squeezes his hand and says, “It’ll all be better soon. I just know it.”
Steve smiles at her and whispers, “Thank you.”
Moments later, she hands him the milkshake, and Steve leaves soon after. He needs to get back as quickly as he can.
He drives faster than when he left, almost regretting his little pit stop when he feels like he needs to be there. He races up to the waiting room and finds that Dustin and Eddie’s uncle are gone. Steve’s stomach drops as he looks at Robin. “Is he?”
Robin hugs him with tears in her eyes and whispers, “He’s awake. And he’s okay. He’s going to be okay.”
Steve sighs in relief and feels a few tears spill out of his eyes. He ducks his head into Robin’s neck and tries to hide his reaction from anyone else.
“Steve.”
Steve takes a deep breath and looks toward the doorway where Dustin is standing. “He wants to see you.”
Steve smiles and squeezes Robin’s arm before practically dragging a confused Dustin down the hall while asking where his room is.
Dustin leads him to it and says, “I don’t understand why-”
“Later, okay?” Steve asks, cutting him off. “I promise. I’ll tell you later.”
Dustin nods and for once he lets Steve go easily. “Okay.”
Steve jostles his hair around before slowly going into the room. He nearly gasps at the sight of Eddie so pale and almost lifeless, but when he sees his chest move slowly up and down, he’s flooded with relief.
“Eddie…” Steve says, practically running up to the bed and placing a gentle hand over his.
Eddie weakly smiles at him before glancing down at his hand. “What’s that?” He asks quietly.
“A strawberry milkshake from Linda.”
Eddie smiles a little wider. “You remembered.”
“Of course I did. How could I forget?” Steve sets it down on a little table next to his bed and finally confesses, “Eddie, I wish things would’ve been different between us because out of all the things I got from Linda’s diner, you were the best. And I’m so glad you stole my booth because I needed you that day. And I need you now and-”
“Steve?” Eddie says softly.
“Yeah?”
Eddie’s eyes move toward the foot of his bed.
Steve glances over and jumps when he sees Eddie’s uncle watching him with a small smile. “Go ahead, I’m enjoying this.”
“Wayne,” Eddie tries to groan but it ends up coming out way too soft.
Steve just laughs and grabs Eddie’s hand. “What I’m trying to say is that after your name is cleared and you’ve healed and they determine that neither of us have demobat rabies, would you want to go on a date with me at Linda’s diner?”
Eddie smiles and squeezes his hand. “Absolutely.”
“Thank god,” Wayne mutters from his seat.
As Steve laughs and Eddie tries to glare at his uncle, he can’t help but believe that everything will truly get better.

Curly Shepard headcanons
-Once fought a seagull that tried to steal his fries and lost
-Undiagnosed autistic and ADHD (it’s the 60s, duh)
-Can and will do anything to get out of having to do English homework
-His dad gave him so many concussions as a kid that Tim legitimately worries he has brain damage (but Curly just thinks he’s dumb)
-Is as fascinated by Ponyboy Curtis as Ponyboy Curtis is (seemingly) indifferent to him
-Physically incapable of shutting up even when he really REALLY should
-Is super close with Angela
-Is well aware Angela is scarier than he ever will be. Refuses to ever admit it
-Once got suspended from school because he cut the legs off a bunch of grasshoppers and put them on his teachers desk. He called them ‘grass walkers’ and thought he was hilarious
-Can’t stand Johnny Cade and Johnny Cade can’t stand him. Neither of them know why
-The first and only time he went to a hospital is when he broke his arm falling off that telephone pole and that was only because the bone was coming out of the skin
-Will do literally anything to get Ponyboy Curtis’ attention. It doesn’t have to be good attention— he just needs Ponyboy to be looking at him with those huge green eyes as much as humanly possible
-Favourite foods are chorizo and red twizzlers
-Has beat up every single one of Angela’s ex boyfriends
-Hates the colour yellow
-Angela’s nickname is Angel, but when Curly’s mad at her he calls her ‘devil’ instead
-Will fight ANYONE who mentions his height (except Tim ‘cause he’s kinda scared of Tim)
-Once stabbed himself in the hand playing the knife game (yet another injury Angela helped him hide from Tim)
-Will paint Angela’s nails for her but only if she bribes him
-Is EXTREMELY good at first aid. Like, can make a tourniquet or a sling out of anything. Everyone thinks it’s because he’s had to patch himself up after he hurts himself in dumb ways, but really it’s because he took a couple free courses at the YMCA he never told anyone about. The instructor actually really liked him, because he actually tried and didn't cause problems even once
-Is the only person in living memory to win against Tim in poker, and it won him a stupid amount of respect from the rest of the Shepard gang. Tim maintains he cheated (he did not)
-Will never admit it but still loves when Tim ruffles his hair (one of the very few ways Tim ever shows his affection)

Lmk what character you want me to do next!

Tumblr media
Tara, Mindy, Chad and Ethan were once again over at your and Anika’s apartment to hang out with her. She tried to convince you to hang out with them but you weren’t interested. Your answer was always the same whenever she asked.
They just weren’t your crowd. They weren’t in high school and they aren't now. You were fine with that. Anika on the other hand wanted you to get to know them. They were friends with her girlfriend and became her own. She wanted all of you to get along.
She was fully aware of your rocky relationship with Tara but that wasn’t going to stop her from trying. Anika only knew a few things; you and tara have hated each other since high school and according to Mindy it started out of the blue.
“Chad I swear to god if you don’t stop throwing that blue shell at me,” Tara said as she swerved along with her kart on the screen. “It’s not my fault your reflexes on Mario Kart suck–” Tara threw a pillow at him “–hey! No pillow throwing.”
“Aaaand victory is mine!” Mindy raised her arms victoriously. “Take that losers,” she smirked while the rest of them groaned.
“Winner gets to choose where we eat for dinner and I say that diner around the corner.” After a few minutes they start to get ready to leave. “Oh hold on one second,” Anika said before approaching your bedroom door and knocking.
“Yeah?” She heard you ask from the other side. “We’re going to that diner around the corner. You wanna come?” Shit. Anika knew damn well it was your favorite place to eat. The only flaw is that it doesn’t deliver.
Your roommate heard groaning and shuffling before the door swung open. “Sure I’m in.” You were wearing jeans and a Batman shirt that looked a little too thin for the chill fall weather. “Aren’t you going to be a bit cold?” She asked before you rolled your head back and grabbed your older brother’s letterman jacket.
“I’ll take this. Happy mom?” She rolled her eyes before replying. “Very, now come on.”
The walk over was short but you still trailed behind them the entire time. When you all sat in a booth you chose to hide with a menu by holding it up in front of your face. You stared at the menu as if you weren’t going to order your usual. Anika and Mindy sit beside you as Ethan, Chad and Tara sit in front of you.
They have multiple conversations that you choose to stay out of until you hear your name. “So, Y/N, you like Batman?” You put down the menu and tilt your head slightly, looking at the curly haired boy who had spoken.
“It’s just I noticed your Batman shirt,” Ethan continued as he briefly pointed to the shirt you were wearing. “Oh yeah. He’s cool. You?” He smiled and nodded.
A conversation between the two of you – that was Ethan asking you questions and you responding with a short answer or hum – eventually picked up. During all this you couldn’t help but feel like you were being stared at but chose to ignore it. Your conversation with Ethan was put on pause when the food came. You quietly munched on your fries until Tara spoke up.
“So, Y/N–” here we go “–you only come out of your room for food and the occasional bathroom breaks…you’re kind of like a deer.” She took a bite of one of her onion rings. “A deer? What– well you’re five foot nothin’ so I don’t know why you’re talkin'.” You shot back. It wasn’t the first time somebody’s compared your habits to a deer.
“I’m five foot one!” She defended with a scoff before you responded. “But who’s keeping track, right? And speaking of which–” everybody at the table were now staring at the both of you “–why are you keeping track of my routine anyways?”
“Oh you are so full of it,” Tara said with her arms now crossed. “Full of what? I haven’t accused you of anything yet my little stalker. Simply just asking,” you shrugged while wearing a smug look that Tara wanted to ki- smack right off your face.
“Don’t you still sleep with a Spider-Man plushie?” Tara retorted before sipping her milkshake, her eyes never leaving you. “Technically I don’t sleep with him, he sits on my nightstand. Wait– how do you know about him?” You asked with tilt in your head.
Tara suddenly avoided your stare as she twirled her straw in her milkshake. “You mentioned it at some point,” she finally murmured.
“You remembered that?” She remembered that?  Even you couldn’t remember mentioning that to her until now.
“It’s not a big deal. Not like it’s a hard thing to remember.” It suddenly got quiet between the two of you. All of them eventually drifted off into their own conversation as you silently nibbled on another one of your fries.
Suddenly you felt your phone vibrate in your pocket. The message you read causes you to freeze and your eyes to widen.
Dad (8:56 pm) I’m coming over this weekend.
“Shit,” you mutter and Anika turns over to you. “What’s wrong?” she asks but then her eyes catch the message you’re still staring at. Before she could say anything else you were already typing away.
Y/N (8:58 pm) Tomorrow?
You started to push down on your thumb’s cuticles with your index finger while waiting for a response.
Dad (9:01 pm) Yes
Tomorrow was Saturday and you were originally going to help Tara with one of her assignments and then play video games at Henry’s place but not anymore. Now you’re going to get stuck with your father. It wasn’t an ideal situation. You and him never got along.
You were never his favorite and that was alright with you cause he was never yours. All he did was bring problems. If he wasn’t busy cheating on your mom then he was nit picking at you and every little thing you did. No matter what you did you just couldn’t be enough for him.
A foot gently tapping your own from under the table pulled you out of your thoughts. You looked up to see Tara with her eyebrows furrowed. You simply cleared your throat and shook her head a bit, trying to show you were fine. She looked you up and down – not believing you one bit – before turning back to her conversation with Chad.
You felt a hand on your shoulder and you turned your head to find Anika. “Are you gonna need the apartment this weekend? It’s not a problem if you do,” she asked and reassured you.
“No, I think I’m just gonna take him out for dinner. Besides, he only knows where I’m attending college. He doesn’t know where I live and I’d like to keep it that way,” you murmured back before sipping your milkshake. You saw her nod from the corner of your eye before she turned back to Mindy.
When you all left the diner you and Tara went back to your bickering. Chad rubbed his stomach before letting out a tiny groan. “Shit, I shouldn’t have drank the milkshake and soda.” Mindy rolled her eyes and replied, “I told you not to drink both.”
You and Tara were slightly ahead of the group. “Yeah bu– are those ghost socks?” You asked, cutting yourself off. Tara looked down at her socks for a second before looking back at you. “Yeah, and?” You put out your bottom lip as you shook your head. “Nothing. I think you look cute in them. Anyways back to the point I was making–” Tara didn’t hear much after the word “cute.”
Why are you acting as if you didn’t just call her cute? Were you doing this on purpose? Making her feel like this? Like butterflies were flying around in her stomach? Surely you knew. This had to be another one of your tactics. Another way for you to get inside her hea–
“Watch out for dog shit,” you said as you pulled her by the waist and away from the crap she was about to step on. When you removed your hand from her waist she almost missed it. Almost.
“You okay?” She turned her head to look up at you. “Yeah, fine.” Tara responded before looking back ahead.
Mindy and Anika watched the whole interaction. They gave each other a silent look before continuing their own conversation.
“You seem out of it.” Tara gave you a raised eyebrow before you elaborated. “I just mean, usually you would’ve had a rebuttal for me by now. You doin’ okay?” You were now fully looking at her and she hated the concern in your eyes.
She turned her head, no longer able to handle your stare. “I said I was fine, didn't I?” Tara crossed her arms. You gave her a tight lipped look before sighing, “Okay then…”
When you all got back to your apartment you placed your leftovers on the counter. Just as you were about to go to your room your phone started ringing.
You tense up before saying, “I’m gonna take this,” and going to your bedroom. Leaving Anika and the rest of them in the living room.
You silently sighed in relief as you heard your mom’s voice. The call itself didn’t take too long. It was just her checking in, making sure your father told you about him being in Manhattan this weekend – as vague as he was – and that her and your younger brother, Stephen, would be joining you and him for dinner.  You had zero complaints to this as you did not want to be left alone with your father.
When you stepped out of your room you completely forgot people were over. You stopped in your tracks as their heads turned to you for a brief moment, Tara was biting on her nails but dropped them from her mouth as soon as she saw you and looked back at the TV.
“Great, you’re all still here,” you said sarcastically before sitting down in the loveseat. Anika kicked your feet due to your blatant comment.
“Be nice,” she mouthed. You lifted your legs to rest on the loveseat’s armrest. You had no idea why you were sitting out here anyway. Originally you had come out of your room thinking they had left. You definitely weren’t in the mood for company.
But when are you ever?
“Oh um, Tara I’m not gonna make it tomorrow,” you told her after a few minutes of silence. “Why?” Tara sinked further into the couch when she realized she sounded more disappointed than she intended.
“I’m getting dragged off to this dinner thing tomorrow but I’ll make it up to you,” you simply answered before standing up and walking over to the kitchen. Mindy looked at you as you walked then to Tara with raised eyebrows.
“What?” Tara asked with a bored tone. “I’ll make it up to you~” Mindy mocked while dramatically fluttering her eyelashes.
“Shut up.”
You haven’t seen your father since you moved to Woodsboro your sophomore year. You didn’t even see him after were attacked by ghostface. Not that you expected any less from him, this was just the type of man he was. When you get to the restaurant the first people you see are your younger brother and mom.
She greets you with a kiss to the cheek and you and your brother settle for a simple nod. Once you’re all seated you ask the question that’s been on the tip of your tongue since you walked in. “So, where’s dad?” Your mom sighed before answering. A sigh you knew all too well. “He’s on his way. There was just a little traffic. Stop worrying honey, leave that for the adults.” She looked at you with a gentle smile to ease her words.
You exhale through your nose, lightly moving your index finger against the glass cup set in front of you. I am an adult, you wanted to say but this wasn’t the place for that. Not now.
“What’s college like?” Stephen asked, pulling you from your thoughts. You continued to stare at the glass as you answered him. “Still there.” You could hear your mom clear her throat. You moved your eyes to look at her before moving them back to the glass. “Some of the classes are actually worth looking forward to so I guess that’s something.”
“Well that’s good. You’ve been keeping up with your studies?” You nodded. Before she could get another word out you felt a familiar grip on your shoulder. “Sorry I’m late. Traffic.”
“Dad,” you heard your brother say. “Hey, buddy. How was the train?” Your father asked as he took the vacant space beside your mom. “It was okay,” Stephen answered.
“Y/N.” You finally looked over to him. “Dad,” you responded less enthusiastically than your brother.  Stephen and your mom shared a look before you heard her speak. “Do you two know what you want?” She asked you and your brother.
Stephen nodded and you hummed.
“So, did Stephen tell you yet?” Your father asked. You looked at him then to Stephen, saying, “Tell me what?”
Your father wore a proud grin as he spoke, “He’s going to be a cop. Just like his old man and I couldn’t be prouder.” Your mom let out a silent sigh, knowing where the night was headed. “That’s great,” you took a sip of your water.
“Isn’t it? He’s going to be great.” Stephen nervously chuckled before finally saying something. “It’s not a big deal. I’m just thinking about it.” Your father shook his head, “It’s a calling, bud and you’re going to do amazing.” He sounded nothing but proud.
You gave a small smile to your brother before turning back to your glass. You expected no less from tonight. You knew your father couldn’t be here five minutes without being ‘Officer Y/L/N.’ That was your relationship with him growing up. It seemed like he knew more about being a cop than how to be your dad.
The waitress came with the food and left and the interrogation began. “So,” your father started, “you’ve been staying out of trouble?” You rolled your eyes.
“Course’ I have.” He grunted at your answer and responded, “There’s no need for an attitude. I have plenty of reasons to ask you that or did you forget about the shit you did in Brooklyn?”
You roll your eyes again. “That was years ago. I don’t do that stuff anymore.” He eyed you before picking up his fork and knife, cutting through his chicken. “Mhm, kay,” you heard him mutter with doubt laced in his tone and you clenched your jaw.
“And stop rolling your eyes. It’s a bad habit,” he added before taking a bite of his food. You subconsciously closed your eyes for a second as you felt yourself about to roll your eyes again. He always found something to nitpick at.
The rest of the night continued to go on like that. Your father continued to bring up your track record to get a rise out of you and you responded back with quips as you picked at your own skin under the table.
Not much has changed since you were fifteen.
The best news you got all night was that your father would be heading home the same night. You felt relief wash over you as you heard him say that. And as much as you love your mom and brother, you were glad they had their own ride home because you were simply too exhausted to be behind a wheel tonight.
You were walking to your apartment when you felt your phone vibrate in your pocket. You took it out to find a text from Anika.
Nik (10:53 pm) Hey! I went to carvel today, there’s a chocolate and vanilla twist waiting for you in the freezer
You slightly smiled, now off to the side and leaning against a shutter. You replied to the message, giving a quick thanks, before only putting in the right side of your headphones in and continuing your walk to your apartment.
A hotdog stand caught your attention. The smell was alluring and you felt your stomach grumble. Damn it. You just came back from dinner but of course you were still hungry. It was dinner with your father. You never got much eating done, choosing to use your mouth for arguing rather than chewing and swallowing.
You knew how unreliable street food was but at the moment you truly didn’t care. You chose to stick with a simple order, a hotdog with ketchup drizzled top. You got a Dr Pepper from a store nearby before sitting down on a bench and eating. This was the most at peace you felt all night. Sitting on a bench, listening to music, eating a hotdog and washing it down with Dr Pepper.
If only that peace lasted.
When you got home you went to turn on the light, not expecting them to be on since Anika was supposed to be out with Mindy, but you realized they were already on. You furrowed eyebrows. Anika usually doesn’t forget something like that.
“Anika?” You called out, reaching for the bat you hid under your couch when you first moved in. After a few seconds you heard her reply, “Y/N? Yeah in here!” It sounded like she was in the bathroom. You reluctantly put the bat back before going over to the bathroom.
“Hey what’s wro–” You cut yourself off when you see an ill looking Tara hunched over your toilet. Mindy was holding her hair back as Anika turned to you. “Hey um, sorry to just drop this on you. I know you probably had a long night but could you help us with something?”
You gave Tara one more glance before answering, “Yeah of course. What do you need?” You could hear Tara gagging. “Can you keep an eye on her while we get her some supplies from the pharmacy?” You nodded and murmured, “Course.’ ”
You switched places with Mindy, lifting Tara’s hair and even pushing a few extra strands from her face. She was clearly drunk and you couldn’t help but admit you hated seeing her like this. You didn’t go to as many parties as she did but from what you’ve heard most of her free nights end with her being drunk.
“You're never gonna let me forget this, are you?” Tara said in between gags. You subconsciously moved one of your hands to her lower back, softly rubbing in circles.
“What? You think I like seeing you like this?” You asked genuinely. Surely she knew you didn’t…right? Seeing her in such an unhealthy state only brought a feeling of– well you couldn’t find the right word for what you felt. But you knew it wasn’t anything positive.
“Don’t you?” She slurred, clearly she hadn’t puked up all the alcohol just yet. You exhale through your nose, taking your hand off her lower back to reach into your pocket to grab a hair tie. Tara missed the contact but refused to say anything. Only pouting at yourself for even thinking such a thing.
You run your hands through her hair, brushing it back and tying it in a loose but secure ponytail. You push a single loose strand behind her ear causing your knuckles to brush against her cheek. Tara’s breath hitches and she blushes, due to your touch.
Goodness, what were you doing to her?
“No. I don’t,” you finally answered. She went to say something but was cut off by dry heaving and your hand immediately went back to her lower back, continuing to rub gentle circles.
You could hear the faint sound of your front door opening and a few seconds later the bathroom door slowly opened.
“Hey, we got everything,” Anika told you. You turned your head to see her with a pharmacy bag. You and Anika got Tara to the couch in one piece while Mindy was in the kitchen setting up everything Tara would need. “Oh Y/N, before I forget. Tara’s staying the night because Sam will freak out if she comes home like this,” Anika told you as you wiped the remnants of drool and throw up off Tara’s face. You thought for a second before responding,“Okay, she can take my bed.” Tara was now passed out cold on the couch, hugging a pillow close to her chest.
“Are you sure?” Your roommate asked and you hummed. “Listen, we may hate each other but my mom raised me right. I’m not leaving her on the couch. Besides, I’m assuming Mindy’s also staying to keep an eye on her and you two shouldn’t have to get stuck cuddling on a couch all night.”
After Anika hesitantly agreed, you set up your bed and then went back to the couch to find Tara still fast asleep. You lifted her bridal style and started the walk to your room. Tara mumbled something incoherent before her eyes fluttered open. She seemed confused as she looked around then up at you. “It’s okay, go to sleep,” you said in a soft voice that made Tara’s cheeks warm.
Once you placed her in your bed you put the covers over and gently lifted her head to put a pillow under her. Her eyes were once again shut, you assumed she fell asleep again and looked at her for a moment before leaving the room but not without leaving the door open by a sliver. Just in case anything happened and she needed you– or anyone.
When Tara woke up she instantly noticed the pounding headache she had and groaned. She rubbed her temples and after a minute she took a look around. This was not her room. Has she been kidnapped? But it was then when all the memories from last night came rushing to her.
All the embarrassing memories. She could remember starting off with a shot…then two…then three…then she woke up to Anika and Mindy helping her up and walking her out of the party. She had complained about not wanting to go back to her own place because Sam would kill her so Anika and Mindy brought her to Anika’s apartment instead and Mindy messaged Sam that they were staying the night at her house.
After that she felt like throwing up…and she did. Then she didn’t stop for a while. And then– oh this is when the embarrassment comes in. That’s when you came home and Anika asked you to help while they went out for supplies.
Oh, you were so gentle with her. She almost let out a dreamy sigh while looking back until she caught herself. Snap out of it, Carpenter, she scolded herself. But then another memory of you carrying her bridal style to your bed and tucking her in appeared.
No. Mindy wasn’t right and Tara still despised you. You were still the same asshole from high school.
She heard two soft knocks on the door and looked over to see you carrying a plate of scrambled eggs. “Didn’t know if you were awake,” you murmured. You walked over and placed them beside the water bottle and aspirin you left for her the night before.
“Anika made some scrambled eggs and eggs are good for hangovers, so…” You awkwardly shifted back and forth on your feet with your arms behind your back, your hands holding onto each other. “I’m gonna go.” And with that you left the room, not waiting for a response from Tara.
After five minutes, Tara finally leaves your bedroom. “There she is,” Mindy smiled at her before putting a grape in her mouth. “So loud,” Tara mumbled while lifting a hand to her head.
She lifted herself onto the stool beside Anika and Mindy and put her head down. But she lifted her head slightly and shifted her eyes, noticing a certain her nuisance wasn’t there to bother her or call her princess.
“Where’s Y/N?” She asked in her morning voice. “Your lover girl had a morning shift at the cafe,” Mindy answered. Tara didn’t have the energy to make a retort or argue back saying, “She’s not my lover girl.” She settled with putting her head back down with heavy eyes.
“What time is Sam expecting us?” Anika asked her girlfriend who answered, “Eleven so we should probably get ready soon.”
After a few minutes Tara went back to your bedroom to gather her stuff when suddenly she realized she didn’t recognize the hoodie she was wearing. She looked down and saw Spider-Man at the center of the hoodie, putting up his hands to form a heart. She could recall seeing you wearing this around campus before and noted that it smelled like you. She could never admit that she actually appreciated the gesture considering the tank top you put it over wasn’t doing anything to keep her warm.
It wouldn’t hurt to keep the hoodie, right?
She looked over at the scrambled eggs you had brought in for her before sitting down on the edge of the bed, swinging her feet as she thought to herself. Guess it wouldn’t hurt to eat the eggs. It was Anika who made it after all. She ate a few bites over your nightstand before taking a sip of water and took an aspirin.
When she got back home she greeted Sam before laying down on her bed and replaying last night over and over again and how she had to face you in class the next day.
When Tara got to class you greeted her as if nothing happened. “Hey, you look like you just got run over by a truck,” you said, causing her to roll her eyes at you. “Oh do I?” She asked rhetorically and took out her laptop.
Throughout class her mind kept trailing back to your gentleness towards her that night. All Anika told you to do was watch her. She didn’t tell you to wipe the drool and throw up off her face, put her hair in a ponytail or rub her back as she gagged.
The fact that you had somehow found your way into her head was pissing Tara off. So pissed in fact that instead of going about her usual routine with you she just chose to ignore you.
You weren’t sure why Tara was ignoring you. Obviously something seemed off with her but you had no idea what. Was she mad at you? She didn’t seem her usual mad, this was different. She’s never taken her aggression out by ignoring you. By using colorful words? Yeah. But never with silence.
Oh.
You must've done something terrible. But what?
As you walked to your next class you tried to look back at what you could’ve possibly done. You hadn’t done anything you haven’t done before. Just your usual banter with Tara, nothing out of the norm. By the time you got to your apartment later that day you were still trying to figure out what you could’ve done. This shouldn’t be stressing you out as much as it was. It was just Tara after all.
Anika noticed your distressed state and walked to the kitchen, a minute later coming back with your chocolate and vanilla twist and handing it to you. “Thanks,” you said as you took the ice cream from your roommate.
“Wanna talk about what’s got you like this?” She asked you, moving to sit in the love seat. You moved the spoon around a bit in your ice cream before answering. “I just…I don’t know what I did but T– this person is giving me the silent treatment and I just don’t know why. I’ve been trying to come up with something I could’ve done to get that treatment but nothing’s coming to me,” you finally said as Anika nodded along and listened.
“Well, you can be kind of an asshole sometimes. Seems like you've thought pretty hard on this. You care a lot for this person?” She suddenly asked. You almost wanted to laugh. Would Anika be asking this if she knew you were talking about Tara?
“Oh, goodness no. She’s just an– acquaintance? I guess you can say. If you even wanna call her anything,” you answered her. “You seem pretty sure of that,” she stated with a tone of doubt.
“Cause’ I am.” You responded trying to sound certain. “Then why care so much if she’s ignoring you? If you don’t care about her then you shouldn't care if she’s giving you the silent treatment,” Anika continued as you sat there and took in every word.
“I could easily move past this whole thing and forget about it entirely if I wanted to,” you defended not so convincingly. “Okay. Then move past it,” she challenged.
“Alright, I will then,” you said. “You’re gonna lose sleep over this,” Anika confidently said as she walked away to her room. You huffed as you ate your ice cream. I won’t lose sleep over Tara freakin’ Carpenter.
Later that night you were sprawled on your bed…and thinking about Tara.

taking roan to see santa and she is so excited to tell him about her new mommy and the things she wants for christmas and when she gets there she is TERRIFIED of the man 🎅
a family trip to the mall to see santa!! fem!reader 5k words
"I'm gonna tell Santa about my new mom, and my new house, and my new bed, and my new-"
"Babe, you're supposed to ask him for things you want, not tell him about stuff you already have."
Roan reaches out to stroke Eddie's face absent-mindedly. He loves how loving she is, and by extension, loves that he's made her this way.
"But I didn't have a mom or a house or a bed last year."
He snorts, fingers wrapped up in the ribbon laces on her shiny black shoes. "You actually did have a bed, and a house."
"A real house, dad."
"It was a real house," he argues with little heat, straightening up her socks where they've started slipping down, fingertips pressed into her soft skin. "It was a home, anyway. You know, me and Uncle Wayne lived together in his trailer for more than ten years and it was amazing."
It had been cramped, crowded, and it had been a stuffy hell in the summer, but it was just fine. It was more than that.
He leans back and takes in Roan again. He's dressed her in a navy blue dress with the lining of a white skirt peeking out underneath. She has a cardigan over the top to fight the cold, and he'll wrap her up in her big puffy coat for good measure as soon as he's done her hair. She looks adorable, adorable and well-kept
He feels the familiar rush of parent pride. Fuck, I'm a good dad.
"And we had fun, didn't we? In our trailer?" he asks her, chucking under her chin.
She grins at him, a mouthful of tiny white pearls. "Duh, dad. We had the best times ever, with Rufus and Georgia and Steve."
He smiles himself, reminded of the stray cats that had flocked to their home and their names. Steve had been an especially dishevelled calico, and his name had been a great point of contention between the Munson's and human Steve.
"You know, we could always go visit them," he offers, pleased at the twinkle that grows in Roan's eyes.
"We could?" she asks, gasping.
"Sure, babe. I bet they miss us, and it's cold. We'll make them some fried chicken when we have time, yeah? You and me'll be the talk of the cat town."
"And Y/N," Roan says insistently.
He strokes her cheek with his thumb. "And Y/N," he says as he stands up. "Now, little lady. Bunches or braids?"
By the time he's weaved her hair back into one impressive braid you're finally getting home from the doctor. A completely routine check up and still he's terrified for a split second that you're gonna come in and declare a problem. You simply pose in the doorway and smile.
"Nothing wrong with me that wasn't wrong before," you say breezily. "Hello, my loves. Did anything happen while I was gone?"
Roan scrambles to stand on the kitchen chair and pose as you're posing. Your expression drops, as does your jaw, and you take a while to pick it back up.
"Aw, princess, would you look at you? You look beautiful."
She giggles as you swoop in to kiss her. You take her face into two delicate palms and stroke curly baby hairs behind her ears. A year ago, even a couple of months ago, you would've asked before you kissed her. Now, you pucker up wordlessly, and Roan bears her cheek like she can't wait. If her excited shifting from one foot to the other is anything to go by, she can't.
"You look so, so pretty," you praise, pulling away to wipe at the splodge of lip balm you've left shining on her baby cheek.
"You look more pretty," Roan says.
Eddie adores you both in ways he can't articulate.
His unspoken affection summons your attention. You let your hands fall to her shoulders and meet his eyes over her head. For a moment you smile abashedly, the awkward amazing smile you'd been wearing when you first met. It eases into something easier, something Eddie isn't ashamed to admit he loves more. This one practically oozes love.
"Do you want to get changed?" you ask.
He pretends like you've slapped him. "What do you mean? This isn't mall-worthy?"
"Your work overalls and my apron?" you ask wryly. "Sure, wear that."
He tries not to smile but he's practically sticky with it, kissing your cheek and patting Roan's back in tandem before he escapes upstairs to change. He puts on a pair of tight black slacks and a dark navy button down to match Roan, rolling the sleeves up in the way he knows you love.
There's Christmas music and giggling downstairs when he returns. Roan's now standing on the table of all places, her hands in your hands, the two of you dancing quite aggressively considering it's Jingle Bell Rock. You start to swing her around, pulling her into your chest so you can waltz in time with the music.
You swing to face the doorway and cheer when you see him. "Dad!" you direct Roan's attention. "That's your nicest button down. Is that the one you wore when you proposed?"
He smiles at the memory but quickly hides it, peering down at his shirt as if it's the most boring item of clothing Walmart's ever made. "This old thing?" He lets the dramatics fall. "No, not this one. I might be wearing the same socks, though, if you wanna check?"
You dip your face down to Roan's and rub the bridges of your noses together. "No thanks," you say, slipping into some bubbly mom talk. "He thinks I wanna look at his socks, did you hear? What a weirdo."
"Weirdo," she echoes.
"Wretched women," he mumbles, heading for the shoe rack. He shoves on a pair of boots and raises his volume. "Come on, sweet girls, time to go see Santa!"
"Santa!"
Roan squirms out of your arms and onto the floor. She sprints for the front door and grabs clumsily at the handle, slightly too short to reach and pull down with any force. Eddie takes her coat down from the hanger and bunches up the sleeves to get her hands through. One arm then two, she makes it difficult work but it's something he's become an expert in. Wayne once said he reckoned Eddie could get an octopus into a straight jacket.
"Babe, move out the way," he says.
Roan steps back enough for him to crack the door and then bursts into the cold. She seems less enthusiastic when the ice bites at her naked knees, looking to Eddie for reassurance.
He hands you the keys and you take them automatically. "I'm gonna get her into the car before she turns into a popsicle."
Realisation dawns on your face. "I dont have my purse. Be right there," you say, spinning back into the house.
He catches up to Roan where she's waiting by your car. She has a car seat in your car and his, but yours is the one at the front of the driveway. She looks tiny next to it, smaller when she starts shivering. It's a sub level Christmas in Hawkins.
"Alright, Ro, in you go," he says, opening door. He covers the top of the doorway with his hand so she can't knock herself out and straps her in once she's situated.
"It's cold," she says through chattering teeth.
"I'm sorry, your wool stockings were in the wash, babe." He covers her frost-bitten cheeks, blood pinking her skin. "We might need to get you some pants at the mall, so you don't fr-fr-freeze to death," he says, imitating her shivering.
She giggles infectiously. "You're funny."
He presses a kiss to her head. "All legs in the ride!" he warns.
"Don't cut her legs off," you call from the front door.
"Never. Am I driving?" he asks, closing Roan's door. He succeeds in not mauling her.
"Do you want to?"
"Do you want to?"
"Get in the car."
"Yes, ma'am," he purrs, escaping around to the passenger side and away from your clutches.
The drive consists of Eddie messing with your deteriorating stereo system and Roan's ecstatic babbling. She's back onto what she wants to tell Santa. New mom, new house, new bed, new princess dresses, new kitchen, new pet fish. The list goes on. Though they aren't as new as she thinks; you, Eddie and Roan have been living together now for a couple of months, and you and Eddie have been engaged for almost as long. The novelty has yet to wear off for Roan. Eddie hopes his daughter will be this amazingly happy for the rest of her life.
"You think it's gonna break?" you ask, watching the stereo with all the caution of a lion tamer.
"God, I hope so. I'll know what to get you for Christmas, then."
It's a bluff — Eddie's already got you a bunch of gifts, some of which you're pretending you don't know about, and some he's actually managed to hide well.
"You won't believe what I got for-" You cough. "Uh, Lucky."
He laughs, checking over his shoulder to see if Roan's listening. She absolutely isn't, feet wiggling along to the static riddled kiddie songs and Teddy the one eared bear in her lap. "I'm gonna tell him you need a new ear, Teddy, don't worry," she says, tone conspiring.
He winces like she's listening. "Yeah, what was it? A new plant?"
"Yeah," you mumble. You're a bad liar. "New plant. It's pink and gold and it's made out of velvet silk," — you lower your voice to a whisper — "with handmade skirts and hand sewn sequins."
His eyes go wide. "I thought we said no more presents for Lucky."
"Did we say that?"
"Well, I said that. Starting to think you weren't listening." He pinches your thigh, quick and nipping to get you squealing.
"I listened," you insist through laughter, facing him with a bright, bright smile. You keep your eyes on the road. "I just didn't comply."
"I'm not above force."
You gasp, delighted. "You dog! My little girl's in the car."
"My little girl isn't listening."
"Yes I am."
You snort so loud it probably hurts your throat.
Eddie whips his head to Roan and her cheeky smile. "I know what we should- what we should get Lucky for Christmas," she says knowingly.
"What's that, princess?" you ask, watching her through the rearview. Each word drips with love.
"A girlfriend," she says.
"Yeah? We'd need to get him a bigger tank, too-"
"So that's not happening," Eddie says.
He hates being the voice of reason, on record despises it, but you love Roan so much, you're fucking whipped, you'd pull Mount Fuji from the Earth and put it behind Bradley's if she asked you to, so while he loves nonsense and participating in it, he has to say no. You can't afford a new fish tank now you've paid for the honeymoon vacation and the wedding venue deposit and Christmas.
Or rather, Eddie can't afford it. He works on principle. Your money is your money. His money is your money. You argue that your money is a hundred percent his money too and he fights you on it all the time, even though you're technically the breadwinner. He's not too proud to let you pay more rent, more toward groceries, more everything. Now. It had been a little bit of a sore spot at first.
He'd reasoned that he should be paying more in reality because of Roan and you'd glared at him half-seriously and said, Don't insult me, handsome. You know I love her.
You more than love her, and if you want to spend every last penny of your paycheck on Christmas this month he won't fight you on it.
Besides that, he can't take any extra hours because he has to pick up Roan. You love that argument because it supports your conclusion, among others — Eddie does the majority of the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning. But, those arguments should be moot. You definitely carry your weight, plus, he loves to do stuff for you. Should be, but you do that stupid fucking thing that you do wherein your hands are all over his face and your voice is soft as silk in his ear, and you kiss under his jaw and win any and every argument in a pathetically small amount of time. He'd die for you. You're a cheater.
"Spoilsport," you mumble, pulling into the parking lot outside the mall with a bumpy turn.
"Lucky needs a girlfriend fish, dad, or he'll get so lonely he'll die."
Eddie blows hair out of his face and zips up his jacket, opening your door with a mostly respectful kick. He rushes to get Roan out before you can, knowing you'll carry her all the way inside and give yourself achey shoulders.
"Why do you say that?" Eddie asks as he opens her door. Roan looks up all smiles, Teddy clutched to her neck. "Why do you think he'll die? Lonely people don't die, babe."
"Are you sure?"
He unclips her straps and pulls her out deftly. He'd let her walk herself but the cold is biting and he can carry her much quicker. "I'm positive."
Her face crinkles up. He likely shouldn't have mentioned death, she's too small, but Roan has a strange understanding of all things macabre. Santa's more real to her than death, for sure.
"Maybe I can ast Santa for a big tank for Lucky and then he can have a girlfriend and a baby."
The dropped 'k' on ask makes Eddie stupidly emotional. A habit she's falling out of from when she was younger.
You start pushing him behind the shoulders. "Let's go," you whine, "before we all get hypothermia."
He makes sure there's room in the crook of his arm for your hand while making his way toward the mall sliding doors. You fall into step beside him.
Eddie begins stranger prep.
"You gotta be polite to Santa, remember? Because he sees all these little girls and boys and he's tired from the Christmas rush, and he's taking the time to come see you."
Roan nods seriously. "My pleases and thank you, dad, I always remember," she says.
"Yes, you do," you praise, though she does not.
"Do you think he can get Lucky a girlfriend?" Roan asks you.
More terrible smiles. "Yes, he definitely can. What kind of girlfriend? A goldfish, too? They have black goldfish in the Petsmart with big heads like raspberries- oh, we should go see them after we talk to Santa!"
Roan's nodding grows more and more voracious. "Can we, dad?" she asks.
"Why're you askin' me? Y/N already said you could."
You almost trip over yourself trying to kiss his cheek. He knows you love him. He suspects you love being a parent more. He's rubbed your back through enough 'I'm so lucky' breakdowns to know you're genuinely in love with his little girl.
Inside the warmth of the mall entryway, Eddie sets Roan on her feet. She holds both hands up. He takes one, you take the other, and she rambles about Lucky's potential lover as you both lead her to the entrance of the food court where the mall Santa's grotto has been set up this year.
The walls and railings are decorated in spiraling lights and tinsel, store windows teeming with festive merchandise. Kids are everywhere, none as pretty or well-dressed as Roan (in Eddie's totally unbiased opinion), but all looking startled by the intensity of everything. Roan herself baulks.
"It's bright, huh?" Eddie asks her knowingly.
"All the lights," she says.
"Yeah, babe, a lot of lights. There's a really big Christmas tree further in, too, we came here last year to see it."
She shrugs. Eddie's unsure, but he thinks maybe she's drifted a little closer to his legs.
The grotto comes into view and she perks up. "Oh," she says sweetly, breathless with her eyes wide, dark eyes shining in the fairy lights.
"There he is," Eddie encourages, "and some elves, too. We line up, uh-"
"Over there," you say, tugging him and Roan with you like the three of you are a slinky.
Roan bounces on her tiptoes from the end of the line to the very beginning. You and Eddie can't stop sharing secret smiles. He loves doing this every year, and last year he'd done most of it alone. Wayne hates shopping malls and you hadn't been dating quite long enough for him to feel comfortable asking you to do parent stuff at the time. The difference a year can make — it aches in the best way.
"After Santa and the pet store, what's our plan? D'you wanna get pizza? Or something else, we could go to Enzo's?" he asks.
"Enzo's?"
"I'll pay."
"Last time you had a weird stomach for three whole days after. I thought we'd never see you again."
"You love it, though. I'll buy some tums. Take a cushion into the bathroom."
"Ew, no," you say, sounding less disgusted than you could be.
You're both keeping an eye on the line. There's only one kid in front of you now, and Roan is pulling on your arms ready to pounce.
"Chinese?"
"What does macaroanie want?"
"She gets everything she wants all the time. Would it kill you to choose?"
You think it over. "Definitely. Why don't you choose?"
"'Cause I want you to, that's the whole point. You know, it's okay to do things that you want to do."
"I want to make you pick. You can pay, too, if we're going to the pet store. Santa needs a donation, and I'm gonna be strapped for cash."
He mirrors your sweet smile. "Deal."
"Next, please," says a very average sized elf.
You and Eddie steal another look and you drop Roan's little hand to let Eddie walk her up to Santa. She'd loved him last year, asking for a bunch of things Eddie hadn't been able to deliver on. He'd tried his best, had done a bunch of freelance guitar repairs that he wasn't educated for (but isn't half bad at), had scraped and scrimped, he'd even borrowed money from Wayne that Wayne refused to take back the following February when Eddie finally made it up, and he still hadn't been able to get 'princess sheets' or the new Dotty Dolly.
They approach Santa. Roan takes one step, then the other. Santa says hello.
Roan pauses.
"C'mere, hon," Santa says, an older gentleman with a natural white beard. He's a very convincing Santa, all things considered. "Tell old Chris Kringle what you want for Christmas."
Eddie pushes her forward very gently with his fingertips. "Go on, babe, it's okay. You wanted to tell him about your mom and the house and Lucky the fish, right?"
Roan takes the last step. Then, frozen in the face, she backs up, nearly trips, and bolts down into Eddie's legs. She practically flies down the stairs with a freaked out moan.
His eyes blow. He looks at Roan, looks at Santa. "I'm sorry," Eddie says, smiling at the old man awkwardly.
The elves do not look happy.
Eddie bends down. "Roanie," he says urgently, "what's the matter? You don't wanna talk to Santa?"
She says nothing, only clings. Eddie tries to steer her shoulder back to Santa on his big velvet chair and she's having none of it, whining and shoving her head into his thigh.
"Excuse me-" starts the elf.
"Roan, are you sure you don't wanna talk to him? He's Santa, he wants to hear all about your list this year," Eddie tries.
"No."
He sighs, perturbed but not too worried. They can always try again. He says sorry to the elves and to Santa who waves his hand, as if to say it doesn't matter. He gets his hands under Roan's arms and carries her to where you're standing on the other side. You look heartbroken.
"What happened?" you ask softly, stroking a sweet curl behind her ear.
Eddie has no answers and Roan doesn't want to give them, so you make your way to the food court in a shocked silence. Roan has a tendency to deal with negatives in two ways — tantrums for the superficial, withdrawal for the serious. Eddie still isn't good at dealing with the latter. Together, you can usually save the day.
"Roan, bug," Eddie says, so only she can hear, "tell me what happened. You didn't like Santa, huh?"
"Dad," she says, almost inaudible.
He slides a hand behind her neck and tips her away from his chest. "What?"
"He didn't look how I remembered."
"'Cause you're older," he says.
He's employed his nicest, smoothest dad voice. The gentle one for all her scariest moments, like shots at the doctor's office and the time she wet herself in the playground in front of the other kids. Anything to assuage her embarrassment, a safety blanket.
He slides into a booth and you hover.
"Would something yummy make it feel better?" you ask hopefully.
Roan shakes her head into Eddie's neck.
"I-" You look super crushed. Everything had been going well. He knows how badly you want Christmas to be perfect.
"How about," Eddie cuts you off, not unkindly, "you and me and mom get warm donut holes and ice cream to dip them in? We've never had then with her, have we?"
It's a good Christmas tradition.
Roan can't resist. "Okay," she says.
"I'll get them," you volunteer. "I got it."
Something hooks you as you're trying to leave and you double back to kiss the top of her head and Eddie's temple in quick succession. He smiles at you genuinely, happy when your frown livens up. Roan will be okay in a little while, no doubt. No need for you to tear yourself up over it.
Alone, Eddie eases Roan off of his lap and onto the bench beside him. He takes her little hands into his. She looks nearly angry, dark eyebrows pinched up and her eyes welled with tears.
"It's okay that you didn't like Santa," he murmurs.
"I wanted to tell him about Y/N," she says, lower lip trembling.
"We can always go and see him again."
She stiffens.
"Or we can try a different day, yeah? C'mon, where's my brave girl gone?"
"He smiled funny…" she mumbles.
He feels awful instantly. He doesn't need Roan to be brave if she can't be.
"Well, if you want," he says, inclining his head, "you could tell me what you want for Christmas, I could tell Santa."
She looks up. "You'll tell Santa?"
"Oh, yeah," he says quickly. "I tell Santa all the stuff you forget. How'd you think you got your space hopper last year? And your princess slippers? I tell him all the things you want."
"He still didn't get me Dotty Dolly."
"He's old, babe. He's all senile, like Wayne." Sorry Wayne.
Her face flops into his upper arm, chubby cheek squished to the mild curve of his bicep. She lets out a morose sigh. "Sorry, dad."
He nudges her gently. "For what?"
"Being not brave."
He presses his forehead to her hair. "I didn't mean that. You don't have to be brave meeting new people. It's scary, even if you met them before. Like Y/N," he says, nuzzling Roan's silky hair affectionately, "I don't know if you remember, you were always excited to see her, and I used to think I was excited too. Then we'd get to Morgan's cake shop and I'd make us late because I was hiding in the car. She used to make me nervous, and now she's your mommy."
He wraps his arm around her shoulders. "Sometimes we need time to get to know people before we're ready to talk to them. It's okay that you got scared, babybug, promise."
She goes limp. Her cheek slides down the length of his stomach and lands on his thigh. "I really wanted Lucky to have a girlfriend."
He pets her hair, accomplished in his dad duties. (He hopes. Tonight he'll go over this conversation with you and wonder if he should've said something else.)
"Lucky can definitely still have a girlfriend. What did I just say? I'll make sure Santa knows exactly what you want, no sweat."
She huffs another huge sigh that must take up her entire lung capacity. He tickles the back of her neck with the end of her braid slowly, drawing circles around her ear and her earlobe until her shoulders are heaving.
"You're laughing," he accuses.
"No I'm not," she says into his leg.
"No?" He lets her hair go in favour of scratching her neck. "We can change that."
You return with way too much ice cream and twice as many donuts to find her squealing and cornered in the booth, curled up into a ball like a pill bug to evade Eddie's cruel hands.
"What are you doing to her?" you demand.
"I'm cuddling her. What's it look like to you, mister?"
"Mister? You sick freak."
"You're the sick freak, freak. Sit down and give my girl one of those donut holes before she keels over."
"She's already keeled! Get offa her, the ice cream's melting on my hands."
He stops tickling Roan and she finds the strength to sit. You're ecstatic to see her happy again and you show it with a grand proferring of sweet treats and three plastic spoons. You've bought a whole lotta donuts and an ice cream boat with chocolate fudge and cherries, and you let her maul it without complaint. It's a good time, a great one, to watch Roan teach you how to dip the still-warm donuts in your ice cream, and to watch the two of you try to eat them without getting powdered sugar and chocolate all over your fancy clothes.
He ties the cherry stem with his tongue and mystifies Roan, who spends the next ten minutes trying to do the same. He feels so sorry for her that when she sticks her little tongue out with an untied stem for the tenth time, he meets your eyes and nods and the two of you cheer like crazy.
He hadn't brought his bag, a rookie mistake, so he nabs some napkins from the condiments table and gives Roan the good old spit and polish.
Clean-ish, he takes her hand and she stands on the bench, hopping off and landing with Munson grace (her knees give out). You take the long way around the grotto so she won't have to see Santa again and come across the mall's huge Christmas tree.
"Woah," she gasps, enthralled.
Eddie really should've brought the camera, even if he only has two pieces of film left. He wants to remember this forever, her face still soft with baby fat reflected back from a giant golden bauble, tinsel bouncing light all over her skin like a mirrorball. You bend down beside her and grin.
"Eddie, look at it from down here."
He suspends his disbelief and kneels down.
From the floor, the tree looks bigger than any skyscraper, and it shines like a star. If you follow the tree all the way to its angel at the top, you can look past it into the skylight, where the dark night shines with pinprick stars.
"Our Christmas tree doesn't look this good," you say.
"Yes it does!" Roan says, turning to you with a stern scowl. "Our Christmas tree is the best one they ever made."
"Yeah?"
"Mm. And I got to put the star on."
"Yeah, you did." You rest your hands on her shoulders and the two of you look up together.
I need a fucking camera, Eddie thinks hotly.
—
Petsmart is like an aquarium at 6PM. The lights have been lowered, the fish tanks glowing bright blue and bubbling in the dim light. A hundred white and red babies swim erratically, their fins a blur in the top tank. Underneath, there are tanks filled with algae-eating snails that move surprisingly quickly. To the left, the big black goldfish with puffy cheeks lavish in their more spacious tank.
"Where's the ones with the raspberry head?" Roan whispers.
Your eyes follow a beautiful red goldfish the size of three fingers. "I don't know, little lady," you mumble, entranced by the goldfish's graceful arc.
"Do you think Lucky would have a crush on him?"
You look to where she's pointing at, little finger chasing a telescope fish.
"I think he'd love him. He's a big one."
"I thought Lucky wanted a girlfriend?" Eddie asks.
"But all these ones are boys, dad."
He frowns, endearingly confused. "How can you tell?"
"I just know."
You love the way she says it, love every little word she says. She sounds confident in her declaration but the way she pronounces her words harbours the clumsiness that comes with being a young kid, 'know' carrying a lot of weight, of humour, like she can't believe Eddie would say something that silly.
"What about that one? She looks kinda girly, no?"
The three of you watch the fish in question complete a small loopty-loop.
"Nah," you say, "that's definitely a boy. He has abs."
"They're called gills."
"Do they have any pink fish?" Roan asks.
"Maybe not. They have pink plants. Hey, I saw the ornaments on the way in, they have a castle. Think Lucky would like that?"
If Petsmart didn't close at 6.30 you could stay and watch the fish tanks with them forever. You hop along to the ornaments and try to catalogue all the ones Roan expresses an interest in. Buying them won't count as spoiling her, it'll be spoiling Lucky. Eddie can't possibly be irked over that.
"Don't even think about it," he mouths.
You remember Roan's unhappy face when she was confronted with the horror of the mall Santa up close and decide she can't leave empty handed.
"Why don't we get him something now? You can put it in his tank tonight before bed."
"Really?" Roan asks.
"Go crazy."
Roan hesitates, spoiled for choice, hands feeling over the ornaments one at a time. Eddie tells her she can't pick anything from the tip shelf and you're glad for it, because it is Christmas coming and they're extortionate hand crafted things you cannot afford.
"This one," she says.
She picks up a heavy looking Christmas tree glued to a white plate, multi-coloured presents nestled at the trunk. It's a glorious twelve dollars.
You let Roan carry the bag out of the Petsmart. She turns to Eddie and says, "Please make sure Santa gets Lucky a girlfriend like the one with the big eyes. And please tell him that I have the best new mommy and the bed and the new house, please."
He beams at her. "We can strike those off the list, for sure. What do you want now you got all the stuff you asked for last year?"
"Pink hair."
Eddie whistles through his teeth appreciatively. "Gnarly."
"And a bounce house," she adds.
He shakes his head at you before you can ask.

you belong with me — teaser
a/n : i wanted to have this finished by today but 😢 here's a lil snippet instead! for context, this specific part takes place in july of 2019, before the start of p's senior year of high school, and reader is her best friend and teammate. happy valentine's! 💕
Tumblr media
paige doesn’t get what you see in him.
for one, he’s really not that cute, contrary to what all your other friends believe— there are a million five–foot–ten boys with curly blond hair and green eyes in the world, and you’re pretty enough to have any one of them that you want. for two, he’s so boring. he’s always got you holed up at his ridiculously large house doing something lame, when you could be with her, actually having fun. and lastly, he’s not even that good of a boyfriend. sure, he takes you out on dates and drives you around in his stupid car and surprises you with flowers and gifts, but those are all things she’s done for you and she’s only your friend. it’s the bare minimum, and you deserve a lot better than that; you deserve the world.
she thinks she might actually be sick, watching him tuck a stray piece of hair behind your ear and smile at you, leaning in for a kiss. his face is actually so gross, she gags.
“stop, leave her be,” azzi’s voice comes with a little laugh as her hand closes around paige’s forearm, tugging playfully, but the blonde still struggles to tear her eyes away. “paige.”
“they’re disgusting,” paige gripes as she finally looks away, taking a sip of her dr. pepper, not even bothering with her burger and fries anymore. witnessing that interaction ruined her appetite.
“they’re in love,” azzi teases, dragging out the ‘o’, and paige grumbles around her straw, eyes rolling dismissively.
you aren’t in love with him. yeah, it’s been three months since you officially started dating, but paige actually knows you; you’ve liked plenty of guys since she met you in seventh grade, and none of them have ever really meant anything. soon enough, you’ll get bored of him, just like all the others, and it’ll go back to just being you and her again, like it should be.
hopefully, that’s before the season starts in november. she doesn’t want to have to see you with him at homecoming, or even worse, at one of your games— she’d really be revolted, then.
“no, i agree with p,” kayhla chimes in on the conversation. “get a room!” she shouts, hands cupped around her mouth to accentuate the sound, earning the attention of you, him, and everyone else in the wendy’s.
your eyes get all wide and your cheeks tinge red, and the table erupts into giggles at your embarrassed reaction. you step away from him, finally, and turn back to the counter, smiling politely at the cashier as she slides a tray of chocolate and vanilla frosties toward you, and another toward him. paige can’t help but feel a bit smug when you return to the table and reclaim your seat next to her— it’s an end–seat, so he has to sit across from you both. she casually stretches her arm out over your shoulders, and shoves a spoonful of chocolate frosty into her mouth with her free hand.
“you guys are mean,” you say, reaching out for one of her abandoned fries. you don’t do anything about her arm.
“don’t be a freak, then,” paige replies, and you jab her in the side with your elbow, which only makes her laugh harder.
“oh, you have no right to be calling anyone a freak,” you retort playfully. “don’t make me bring up last summer—”
“woah, nah, okay! okay, you win!”
paige throws up her hands in surrender, and everyone at the table laughs again— everyone, except for him. you, on the other hand, laugh especially hard. she can’t lie, it’s vindicating knowing there are parts of you that he hasn’t yet breached, that she can make you laugh this hard and he has no clue why.
that she actually knows you. unlike him, paige isn’t temporary. you’ll get bored of him, and things will go back to being the way they’re supposed to be.
just you and her.

My Perfect
L x Chubby Reader
A.N: ( See even though im like late I STILL POSTED! im on like grind yall but, this man so fine I'm like i must write my deepest soul wrenching words about him)
Tumblr media
I'm not perfect.
That's it. I tried every day as a kid to be perfect; pretty hair, small frame, soft voice everything to look desirable to others I tried to be. In high school I needed to be bold, thicker but not too thick, tall but too tall; never speak overly passionate it was a turn off, don't wear too much makeup it's like I'm a slut, and never can venture out and find a comfortable look for me. I never let the girl inside eat.
I wasn't berated though? Yes, I got stares when I wore something sitting and people saw my stomach, like yes mothafucka I got a stomach y'all thought it was a huge ass pot in my shirt? Yes, I did get the ' I'm sO cOnFideNt!' talk when I ate something like fruit, who doesn't like pineapple? When shopping I had looks of could I fit this or that and nobody ever comforted me when I would cry about not fitting jeans.
I was never perfect. But he never cared.

" What are you having for lunch?" was asked by my closest coworker, Maria she and I was friends since our college days when cramming information about law, statistics, and for some reason Shakespeare; we were forever. I turned to her in this damn rolling chair that was obviously not made for a girl with that thang back there, I mean why is half my leg practically on the floor? I thought about it for a second.
" I could go for quick burger, what about you?
" That's fine! Also did you finish your report? I didn't even get to..." I just stared at her though my head in space, Maria turned to see what I'm looking at and she saw a strange man walking inside the room.
" Um...I don't think he works here?"
" Is this when we got to fight for our lives? I don't have no weapon."
The man tall, dark unruly hair not curly though it looks like a one of those emo people from the 2000's like my chemical romance vibes, he has a homeless man look on him...its kind of sexy thought but, he doesn't work here?
We watch him while towards us and goes to the head manager cubicle that two rows ahead of us. We look at each other and look down acting like we're working but, we really being nosy. We hear only indicant chatter and the strange man's voice, his name is Riuzaki? Or Rukai? I don't know and our manager asked again, and he ignored the question and started talking about something different. Kind of rude but, with the way our manager is I'd do the same; Maria looks at me and looks at the time and tells me it our lunch break so, we both get up and I make sure to push down my jacket a habit I did as a teen to look slimmer, we walk out and down the little pathway to the front of the office when we get close to the strange man I turn my head down, his eyes immediately traced to me and he stared at me and he turned, kind of weird his eye contact was intense!
We walked over to the company lunch places inside it's a tiny burger spot filled with American dishes; we haven't really eaten there so we decided to try it out since it was also raining. Maria order first, a chicken salad with extra chicken and cheese with a large drink and dessert then it's me, a cheeseburger with fries and a large drink with a cookie; we wait a bit and sat down at a two-seat table and we talk about the sight we just saw.
" I wonder if he's trying to get a job here? "
" For what though? we ain't got nothing available yet."
" What if they fired somebody!? I heard but I didn't hear from department C that somebody was overusing company resources and they got let go."
" Omg, who?" Maria was going to say but we hear a buzz, and our food was ready we grabbed a tray and the person who gave us our orders gives me a look, ya'know the look of ' Breaking that diet huh?' Its common but still is annoying so I mean mug him back and he backs off. Sitting down we talk about our topics of choice like vacations, fashion trends, the latest news when the man from earlier comes down; didn't even see him till he pulled up a chair beside me and stared. Like what?
" Oh, Hello!" I introduced myself and Maria does the same, but how says nothing and stared at me.
" Are you going to eat that?" He points at a strawberry cookie I got, I look and shake my head "no' even though I was saving it I give it to him and smiled. He takes it and thanks me and then turned to Maria and asked how she feels about the company. Now, Maria is a sweet girl but, if she can't say her opinion without lying so she tries to say it's wonderful but, he caught on.
" Don't lie. I'm not going to do anything."
" Oh! but I'm not! really it's a won-"
" Your eyes turned up, when some people lie, they eyes turn up to think of somethings. Your hands turned over into a clasped position saying you're more of nervous than calm when I asked."
She's shocked and so am I, he takes a bite of the cookie and then looks at me to which I look away and he stares at me; deep black eyes pierced into, and I just look away because if I looked back what if he jumps me and I gotta kick and scream like that would be so embarrassing!
" Are you nervous?
" No, never"
" Hm...You look uncomfortable" He continued eating and I looked at Maria with a head tilt.
" So, what's making me uncomfortable."
" Your clothes, your shoes are hurting your feet by the way you walked quickly, and you have the heels of them off" He responded quickly, and I was shocked I mean he didn't lie. I just look and Maria excused her and mouthed ' Whoop his ass' and went to the bathroom, so now it's just us. We look at each other and I just shook my head and began eating again. He just looks at me and then turns his body towards me completely.
" What?"
" Do you like your position here?"
If I had the choice between working here and $20, I would pick $20 and a bag of skittles, it has it benefits from time to time but it not worth the headaches and long hours and I tell him just that. He hums and says nobody ever been that honest and I could care less, I listen and eat when he asked another question.
" If you're really don't like how you look why don't you change it"
It wasn't even a question it was like a statement like he knew, he knew from when he stared at me, he watched me. I look at him shocked and I just chuckled and threw the rest of my food away and left, texting Maria that I got sick. Walking away I see him get up and follow me, so ignored him; he just walked beside me and just looks either at me or around him hunched over like he finna throw up. Like what compells somebody to say that? Did he think I'm the one to try to play around with thing you'll get a good joke ooutta me? I should've shoved that damn drink up his stuck up ugy big headed-
" Your mumbling"
"...ok"
" If what I said made you mad just say it"
" If I did I'll go to jail for man slaughter."
He just chuckled, even though I'm pissed he sounded a little smexyyy but, I'll still beat his ass. I keep walking towards the parking lot, and he grabbed my arm asking can he be honest.
" I mean if back there wasn't honest I don't know what is"
He just stared (he got a staring problem) and began talking about how he meant that he saw me adjusting my jacket a habit he saw a lot of girls do when they want to look slimmer, then he saw the look his manger gave us me when I walked past, he said it was in utter disgust. As he went on all the insecurities from the past came again the girl inside of me just began to show, I looked at him blank, my hands started to sweat, my thoughts ran through me like a train, and I couldn't hold it anymore as a sob slipped through like butter from my mouth. I wiped my face and took a deep breath.
" Being a girl in Japan is hard, being black in Japan is harder, being a fat girl and black in Japan is like a war zone every day in my mind. From stares, to the so called ' complements', to everything inside growing out of me is like a constant war zone. Having men look at me like a 3rd class citizen is the problem, having girls treat me like I'm beneath them was the problem and no one had a problem with it."
" But who could care? It's not like I can change what they say with the attitude they expect from a black girl. I'm not perfect but, they wanted me to be and how am I going to achieve that? Huh?"
I stopped for one second and he just said nothing, all the bottled-up feelings I've had just overwhelmed me and I overshared.
" I think your perfect"
" Lying is a sin ya'know"
" Then good I'm an atheist. Your look is perfect."
How can somebody look perfect? With a body like this, my skin to people in this country are like a permanent plague, and my hair is just a warning to them on its own. I am not perfect, but he thinks I am. He's trying to help me feel better and it's not going to work.
" If this is perfect then-'
" You're not going to believe something if you denie it so much."
This man says that beautiful is different to everyone, like what people grew up with which is skinny, fair skin, and cute people they think it's a standard and everyone that's not all three of those traits are ugly. He said the way I feel is how he felt as a child he was never built manly, he was always so small and skinny people thought he was sick. It never bothered him; he seemed wiser as a kid then the whole world at its years; I couldn't even disagree with any statements I always found how people views change when they see unique things or common things and associate them with ugliness or beauty.
" For a homeless man your very smart"
"...I'm not homeless."
" Oh...then why you dress like you've seen a clothing store in life."
" I have seen a clothing store. I just don't see the appeal of dressing up."
He's an emo hippie. But nevertheless, I just listen and make my own few points. We continued walking and he stops me again.
" What's your name?"
" Reader Last Name, and your?
" Call me L"
' Hello L"
" Hello Reader"
Now we walk in comfortable silence, by the time I'm by the garage L asked for my number, his contact now ' Emo Hippie' and mines?
'My Perfect'
Tumblr media
A.N: ( i finshed! I love this one because i feel this irl about my body type but, i got over it and it's kind of hard to write L's dialogue without making him sound rude because he's only nonchalant. But, let me know if you like it!

Friends In All Shapes
"Hi!"
Twilight/Wolfie's head popped up as soon as someone spoke, seemingly right next to his face. He looked up and stared in confusion at the one who had spoken, expecting to see a small child.
Instead, a dog stood over him, curly tail wagging happily.
"Hi!" She said again, dropping into a play bow. "Who are you? You're a weird looking friend, but that's ok! I'm Winnie, are you staying long?"
Twilight blinked, still groggy from waking up so quickly. This dog, Winnie, spoke fast. Not at all like the dogs he was used to meeting on the road during his travels.
"Um, hello." He said uncertainly.
"Hi!" Winnie said again, hopping up and then flopping down on the ground, as if she had so much energy that she had to add steps to everything the did. "What's your name?"
She was persistent. He'd give her that. "Twi- Wolfie. I'm Wolfie."
"Oooh! That's a good name!" Winnie cheered, wagging her tail more and tilting her curly head curiously. "What kinda friend are you? I'm a golden-doodle, but Dodge says I have some Hylian Shepherd in me. He's kinda cranky."
Twilight blinked slowly, drawing himself into a sitting position and trying to process all the information she was throwing at him. "I'm...I'm not sure I know what what means." He said, tilting his head. What kind of friend was he? Did she mean dog breed? What in Hylia's name is a golden-doodle? Wild's time sure had some strange creatures.
"He's a wolf, you moron." A deeper voice said from the entrance of the stable, and both wolf and dog turned to look at the jet black dog lounging just inside the archway. He, unlike Winnie, had short hair and a keen eye. This must be the 'Dodge' Winnie had mentioned. He was, in fact, very grumpy, it seemed.
"A Wolf?" Winnie looked confused. "Nooo, those are the bitey ones with the mean faces. His face isn't mean, and he has people! He's a friend!"
Twilight tuned out the two dogs' conversation from there. It was too early for animal shenanigans, in his opinion. Speaking of people, he saw the group just inside the stable, all asleep save for Time, who seemed to be reading something. Upon closer inspection, Twilight could see the subtle grin on the old man's face as he watched the wolf and dogs from the corner of his eye.
'That bastard', Twilight thought. He was tempted to plot some kind of childish response to this betrayal and was soon provided that opportunity.
"Who's that guy?" Winnie asked, head suddenly popping into Twilight's face. "Is he your person?"
Twilight was about to deny it, he didn't belong to anyone, but a fiendish thought passed through his mind.
"Yeah." He said, tail wagging in excitement. "Why don't you go say hi? He loves dogs, and cuddles."
Winnie froze, body tense as a bowstring, then shot off into the stable on a mission to say hello to her new friend's person.
Twilight puffed up in pride when he saw Time get tackled by the excited dog, and preened at the laughter he heard afterward. 'That's what you get,' he thought to himself, secretly taking delight in his predecessors' happiness.
Dodge watched from his spot, a twinkle of mischief in his eyes.
"You're sneaky, I like that." The older dog said, stretching and standing up slowly. "Winnie has a few things to learn. She's still a pup, but maybe she's onto something with this friend nonsense." If a dog ever reminded Twilight of Time, it would be Dodge. The older dog carried himself in an upright posture, wise eyes now sparking with life and a need for trouble.
"Why don't we go say hello to that person of yours?" The elder dog said with deceptive calmness, and Twilight swore he saw Dodge wink. He bared his teeth in a wolfy smile, and the two took off towards Time, much like Winnie had.
That was a fondly remembered day in everyone's memory after that. Waking up to Time on the ground laughing with Wolfie and two other dogs on top of him was something the younger heroes weren't keen to forget.
He liked Wild's Era, he decided. Especially the friends he had made while he was there.

Caramel (Ross Macdonald)
warning: language, reference to the inseam incident that i will never elaborate more on but love to reference over and over again
note: continues in this fluffy lil mini series that sorta starts here. i think i might continue this into a little mini series because i like this dynamic and i think i need more of y/n and ross in this universe. if you want to, you can imagine all the ross one shots i write all exist in the same universe cuz that’s what i do.
⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:*⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
it’s been 2 days since ross forcefully entered came to check in on you at your shared apartment with violet. you’re still on your period, so of course, you’re still finding it difficult to look ross in the eye without succumbing to your wildest dreams, so instead you made plans that are essentially a huge turn-off for you: hanging out with his friends.
“do i do eyeliner for this? is this, like, an eyeliner occasion?” violet questions while pretending she’s not as frantic as she truly is. she sits on the bathroom counter, having knocked over a few things on her climb up but you decided not to pester her about it.
“it really depends on who you plan on talking to.” you are sitting in the empty bathtub, fully clothed and a throw pillow hugged to your stomach. the bathroom door is closed and violet forgot to put on music so both your voices fill up the room, slightly echoing with enough enunciation.
“give me a run through again?” she pleads. you’ve done it twice, so you assume this last time is the last time but for real this time.
“first there’s adam, he has a girlfriend so he doesn’t care. then there’s george-“
“that’s the other big one, right? the blond?”
“we’ll he’s not actually blond, it’s just bleached. and very fried too. so if you’re into a man with a thicker head of hair, then you’d want to go for matty. but he comes with his own things to think about.”
“like?”
“i’m skipping ahead, sorry. so george, he’s very nice, very sweet guy, he is the other big one, he’s 6’4. smokes a lot of weed, like a lot. aside from his occasional forgetfulness from that, he’s very kind, very polite and respectful, very much a feminist. and he loves dogs.”
“well, i’m more of a cat person.”
“and you’re out of luck there. all his friends are dog people. you’ll have to adjust. anyways, then there’s matty. he’s like the ‘wattpad bad boy’ of the friend group, i think he got voted most likely to be a mafia boss and purchase a girl named ‘y/n’ from her junkie mother.”
“can you maybe like tell me something relevant about him?”
“that is relevant. he’s a little shorter, curly hair, a lot of tattoos, i mean, they all do. i think george might have the most, actually. he’s a bit of a dick at times and i know he means well or he’s mean in a comedic manner but more than often he just gets on my nerves and i know you have a much shorter temper than i do.”
“so you’re saying i should try to talk to george more.”
“i’m saying you should be careful. men are unpredictable and weird. and gross. you heard about the inseam incident, didn’t you?”
she visibly shudders. “god, how could i forget? fucking grotesque…”
she turns back to meet her own reflection in the mirror, staring blankly, but soon realizes how easily you dodged her original question. “wait, so eyeliner or no eyeliner?”
you give her a long, studying look. “eyeliner.”
⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚:*⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
you hold the door open for violet, always feeling like a gentleman to her damsel whenever she’s around. the inside of the boys’ house is much warmer than outside, and it feels like home, if home was a set temperature.
matty and george bicker over something in front of the tv, a case of dvds, maybe. adam is balls deep in conversation with his girlfriend, carly, while he pets allen, george’s matty’s dog. ross is in the kitchen grabbing a soda and a beer when he turns around at the noise of the door being opened.
“there’s my girl!” he exclaims, seemingly tipsy before the party has even begun. he drops both beverages on the kitchen island and circles around to give violet a brief side hug and you a much more substantial one. he squishes you in so tight you feel your ribs crack and splinter under the weight of it and he’s warm like a home should be. “good to see you, violet, you ready to meet my mates? they’ve been giddy about your arrival all day.”
“fuck off, we have not!” matty hollers over his shoulder and while his head is turned, george swiftly sticks a dvd of his own choice into the player and stands up, fleeing from the scene of the crime. he dusts his hands off on his jeans and reaches out to help his friend off the floor.
once matty realizes what has been done, his jaw drops in offense, and pettily, pushes g’s hands away and reluctantly stands up on his own. he stretches his arms up high and his back and elbows crack in the process. you’re much more used to his antics than violet, so you know he’s only doing this action to make the bottom of his t-shirt ride up, revealing his happy trail and his sexy tattoos.
this isn’t just some weird head-canon you have for him, you’ve actually heard him admit to this trick before when attempting to woo a woman.
ross leads the two of you over to the three men loitering the living room. “violet, this is adam,” adam doesn’t stand as the dog is in his lap, but he gives a humble wave that suffices, “matty,” violet doesn’t need to be pointed to who matty is. he stands and smiles widely and wraps violet in a hug.
“bold,” you mutter. matty flips you off behind violet’s back. you roll your eyes but he doesn’t catch it.
george approaches then, exuding a strange energy you’d never seen before. not from him at least. “and i’m george,” he extends a hand for a firm handshake, and when you watch violet agree to it, you can see him squeeze her hand just a smidge too tight.
they both are so weird. why can’t they just act normal around your friend?
“why are you two acting like freaks?” ross speaks the words right from your mouth and you feel a strong sense of adoration for him the way he can just simply share a thought of yours.
“no reason. anyway, we’re watching 'monster house,'" george dismisses and fetches the beer ross had been in the process of grabbing for him. while in the kitchen, he grabs two more sodas, holding both the cans perfectly in one large hand and you wonder what it must be like to possess such an ability.
ross drops down onto one end of the large couch, leaning into the arm of it and matty gets comfortable on a single arm chair, not leaving much opportunity to sit near violet and you start observing the weird male hierarchy that is already set in place when a new female is introduced to the ecosystem. were they like when you first met them all? you never bothered to ask, it never happened across your mind.
george returns with the sodas and hands one to you and one to violet, ever the gentleman, and sits down on the other side of the largest couch in the room.
“hey, wasn’t that coke supposed to be mine?” ross complains.
“there’s only two left. and y/n and violet are guests, so if y/n would like to share with you, that’s on her.”
ross sticks his tongue out at george’s back when he turns to fuss with the remote. you join the men on the couch, sitting a distance from ross and he immediately pulls you closer than close, you’re basically on his lap at this point. you’re confused at this sudden pda but then you notice it gives violet enough room to squeeze in right next to george on the couch. stupid unspoken male hierarchy rules.
you hand the soda to ross, not even having to ask or say anything at all, he knows it’s his official boyfriend duty to crack it open for you. he does exactly that, stealing a sip of it before handing it back. you squint at him.
you are sly when you side eye violet and george, completely eavesdropping on their gentle conversation but acting like you’re caught up in your own with your boyfriend. if you didn’t know any better, you’d say ross was listening in as well. you’re so in sync with him.
“i moved here after high school, my family is back in california,” you hear violet inform him and george looks all too interested.
“that explains the accent. it’s not everyday you hear an american, especially around here. why didn’t you go somewhere cooler like london?”
“y/n and i used to live there but then she started studying here so we made the move together. and sorry about the whole accent. it sounds a little silly compared to you guys, i know.”
“it’s not silly at all. i’ve actually always found it quite sexy, the american speak.”
it would sound like a load of bullshit if it were coming from anyone else but george is always so sincere in every word he says, you decide to leave them be for now.
you turn back to the man next to you. “can i kiss you?”
he scrunches his eyebrows, “since when do you need to ask?”
“i’m wearing lipstick. it’s gonna get on you. it might be… i don’t know… embarrassing.”
“why would it be embarrassing to have visible proof i just kissed a girl?”
“so that’s a yes, then?”
“kiss me any time. i love your lipstick. get it all over me if you want to.”
you decide to take that as a challenge and use both your hands to hold him down still, kissing every inch of his face that isn’t covered by the dark, coarse hair of his beard.
it takes him by surprise, so he sits still in shock for a few moments, letting you make a complete mess on his face, before finally retaliating, grabbing your face this time and kissing you properly.
“ew, get a room,” you didn’t even notice matty in the corner on the chair, now wrapped up in a thick blanket and pile driving a bowl of popcorn completely solo, looking like a young girl menstruating for the very first time.
ross wraps his arms around you, cradling you protectively into his neck. “mind your business, dickwad. watch the movie.” you mumble something into ross’s neck and he lets you loose so you can speak up. “what’s that?”
“douche canoe.”
he cackles in laughter, “yeah, you’re a douche canoe.”
matty rolls his eyes and you’re more than content with his irritation, so you finally give it a rest and cuddle back into ross, enjoying his warmth since matty stole both of the couch blankets.

“Auntie Nova,” Elenor shouted over the sound of the shower.
“What’s up princess?” I smiled, poking my head around the shower curtain, making sure my body was covered.
“Poppy, called me your name today,” she whispered with an air of sadness in her voice. She was too young to fully understand Pops’ health concerns, but she knew something was wrong with him, there was no way we could hide that from anyone.
Retreating behind the shower curtain I ran my hands over my face. How the fuck was I meant to explain to her that her Poppy’s memory was getting worse? I took a deep breath before speaking. “Poppy just got confused, baby, he was watching the race and when I was your age, I used to sit on his knee watching with him.”
“Okay,” she hummed, slowly nodding her head as she chewed the inside of her mouth. I could tell by her reaction it was not the response she was seeking but I let out a small sigh of relief when she asked no more questions on the subject. For now, I had dodged a bullet, but I needed to warn Jax that at some point we needed to try to find a way to explain everything to Elenor that wouldn’t scare her. She loved her Poppy to bits and the last thing we wanted to do was cause her to worry.
“Have you thought about what you want to wear tonight?” I asked, quickly changing the subject as I shut the water off. Reaching my arm out of the shower I fumbled until I found the towel.
“My Ferrari hoodie,” she giggled, making me smile. I had definitely taught her well when it came to which team to support.
“Good choice, baby,” I grinned to myself as I wrapped the towel around my body. I was so grateful that we made sure the bar had an apartment upstairs and that we all kept a spare change of clothes here. “Has Uncle Bobby made you anything to eat?”
“He made my favorite.” She beamed as I pulled back the shower curtain, stepping out over the edge of the bath. I didn’t need to ask her what she had, her go to was always chicken nuggets and curly fries. It was honestly quite scary how alike Elenor was to not only Jax but to myself as well, especially since I had no blood relation to either of them.
Once we were both back in the small bedroom I quickly dried myself and got dressed. The outfit I had was simple: a ribbed light gray cropped vest top, black high waisted skinny jeans, my oversized long gray cardigan and finishing the outfit off with my black boots. It was the perfect outfit for relieving Chibs for the rest of the night whilst maintaining that edgy look I preferred whilst working at the bar.
Staring at my reflection I let out a small breath, my whole life I had been battling with the demons. It had been a long road, but I was slowly loving the body I was in but some days the voices grew louder making them hard to ignore. Taking one final glance at my appearance I made sure I was satisfied, I had done my makeup in record time but decided to leave my hair as it was because drying it was more effort than I wanted to spare right now. Feeling Elenor take my hand, I tore my gaze from the mirror smiling down at my niece. “Come on then, trouble.” I hummed. “Let’s go find your Dad.”
The two of us ran down the stairs, quickly reaching the small hallway that ran through the entire building, at the end was the main bar area, on the right side was mine and Jax’s shared office which was off limits to everyone and then the kitchen and storage area were towards the back.
Elenor instantly made her way over to Jax who was sitting with some guys from the MC, whilst I dipped in the kitchen to check on Bobby.
“There's my favorite cook,” I hummed, entering the kitchen. “How’s it been tonight?” I asked, leaning against the stainless steel countertop, picking at the batch of curly fries that had just come out of the oven.
“Not too bad, it’s been pretty steady, to be honest,” Bobby nodded, “it’s nice that it’s just the usuals. Lord help me when the summer tourists finally hit. Might have to drag a prospect or two in to help.”
“Whatever you need, you know you’ve got it. All you need to do is say the words,” I smiled, as he passed me a bowl of chicken nuggets, cocking my brow at him he just smirked.
“You won’t eat otherwise, and picking at the fries doesn’t count either,” he said, giving me a knowing look. Leaning over I pressed a kiss against his cheek before pushing myself off the counter to go relieve Chibs from behind the bar.
As I entered the main room, chicken nuggets in hand, I took a moment to scan the area; it was still pretty early in the evening so the place was somewhat quiet, however I knew things would change once the lads finished work piling in the bar. But it was something I loved, this bar was the heart of the town.
As soon as I was behind the counter I abandoned my chicken nuggets on the side before placing a clean mug under the spout of the coffee machine, pressing the green button on the front of the appliance to make Pops a fresh brew. He rarely drank alcohol now, so we always made sure we had a good stock of fresh coffee grounds and soft drinks, not only for him but for Elenor, too.
Looking up from the machine, my heart melted as I watched Jax with his daughter. Elenor brought out a completely different side to him. When he was with her he became softer, watched his language and didn’t drink too much. Initially it was weird seeing Jax completely change, but it always made me smile. She definitely made him a better man.
My mind was spinning with what Elenor had revealed to me upstairs, my worries were getting worse when it came to Pops’ health. Now he was calling Elenor by my name. I had a strong feeling things were only going to get worse. I needed to speak to him; I needed to understand what was going on with him right now even if he wasn’t going to make any sense. Looking over to the booth that Pops was sitting in I saw a bright smile on his face, one I hadn’t seen for a couple of days, it always warmed my heart. But the main thing I noticed was he wasn’t sitting alone, there were two people sitting with him, both with their backs to the bar.
Taking a deep breath, I left them to it not wanting to disrupt the conversation that was causing Pops to be this ecstatic.
“He looks happy,” Chibs whispered, placing his hand on my shoulder.
“Yeah, he does. So anything I should know?” I asked, changing the subject, glancing at Chibs over my shoulder.
“Nope, you are all good to take over, lass,” Chibs winked, leaning against the bar, pulling the beer bottle to his lips. He was hiding something from me, the smirk on his face gave that away, in fact I knew when all the club members were keeping things from me, one of the numerous benefits of being brought up around the MC. Raising my brow at him, he just shook his head quickly changing the conversation. “Tig isn’t joining us tonight, so it's gonna be a quiet one.”
“Tiggy isn’t gracing us with his presence, has hell frozen over?” I chuckled, as I finished the coffee. “I swear he props the bar up most nights.”
“I think one of his kids is in town for a couple of days,” Chibs shrugged.
“Which one?”
“The crazy one.”
“Again which one?” I chuckled, cocking my brow at my favorite Scotsman.
When it came to Tig and his girls we all knew it was best not to interfere, letting him do what he needed to do because the last time one of us got involved it got messy.
It didn’t take long for the coffee to be ready but before I had a chance to take it over to Pops, Chibs had already picked the mug up from the counter. “Oh and lass, you never know who might be in the bar tonight,” he smirked, throwing me a wink as he exited the bar making his way through the room to join Pops and whoever was sharing the booth with him.
Shaking off his words I quickly found myself busy tending the bar along with serving food, even though Tig wasn’t gracing us with his presence tonight the place still had a buzz about it. Scanning the room I was greeted with the familiar faces of people I grew up with, most nights it was filled with members of the MC. This was practically our home, if you couldn’t find one of the guys around town, you knew they would be here.
More of the locals joined us when we hosted themed nights, quiz and karaoke evenings were definitely the most popular. I loved it when this place was packed, the sounds of everyone talking, laughing and having a good time with their friends and family.
It also made the hours pass quickly.
However, no matter what I did I couldn’t shake the feeling of worry, I needed to speak to Jax about Pops. We needed to sit down and work out what we were going to tell Elenor but we needed to figure it out sooner rather than later.
Eventually things quietened down, the mad rush of everyone finishing work had passed, giving me a chance to catch my breath, looking over to where Pops was sitting, noticing that his guests had left. Quickly I grabbed the two mugs of fresh coffee before making my way over the booth, sliding into the cherry red leather, automatically resting my head on his shoulder.
“How was your evening?” I asked, letting the familiar smell of coffee and aftershave wash over me.
“Pretty amazing, my sweet Nova,” Pops beamed. Pulling away from him I looked up noticing how wide his smile was, he had that sparkle back in his eyes. “I spent the whole evening talking to Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly.”
I had just taken a large sip of coffee as he spoke, his words caught me off guard causing me to choke on the caffeinated liquid.
The realization finally hit me like a ton of bricks, he had completely lost his mind.
Taking a deep breath, I tried to ignore the feeling of my stomach twisting into a tight knot. I knew there was no way he had spent the evening talking to two drivers that he had spent two hours watching on the TV.
“Of course you did Pops,” I mumbled, trying to mask my worry with a strangled laugh. “Let me go find Jax, he is your ride home tonight.”
Pushing myself to my feet I scurried back behind the bar, bouncing on the balls of my feet whilst I waited for Jax to finish conversation with Chibs. I found myself holding back tears as I tried to calm myself down. I was normally pretty good at holding it together and not showing any emotion to the outside world but right now I was failing.
Suddenly Jax was now standing in front of me, wrapping his arms around me providing a sense of comfort. Yes, me and Jax fought like biological siblings but when it came down to it I knew I could count on him when I felt weak and needed someone to be strong for me for once.
“Where’s your head at Squirt?” Jax hummed, guiding me from behind the bar and out onto the patio terrace.
“Can you take Pops home please?” I sniffled, pulling away from him, leaning against the wall. Automatically I ran my hands over my face before speaking again, Jax extended his hand holding out a smoke which I gratefully took. “I’m worried, Pops is getting worse. Tonight he told me he spent the evening talking to Leclerc and Gasly.”
“As in Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly?” Jax mocked, cocking his brow at me. There was something about the look on his face, I couldn't quite place. Normally I was pretty good at reading my brother but right now I was struggling.
“Yuup,” I hummed, popping the ‘p’, ignoring his playful tone. Right now wasn’t the time for him to be joking. “My head is spinning right now, he is getting worse. I don’t know if I have time to focus on Pops, the bar, and the cafe. I feel like I am drowning. I think we need to look at getting outside help.”
The moment the words left my lips I felt the bile rise in my throat. I hated myself for even saying them. Teller’s never quit on family, but saying those words made me feel like I was giving up on him, when in reality I was just struggling to keep my head above water. The look on Jax’s face changed, this look was something I knew all too well, it was a look that told me he felt guilty.
“Nova,” Jax breathed, draping his arm around my shoulder, pressing a kiss against my temple. “You deserve a break more than any of us. I know the last couple of weeks, hell even the past year with the custody hearings, I haven’t been around much and I am so fucking sorry,” his voice was quiet as he spoke. “I will take Pops home, don’t worry about anything else but the bar tonight. Tomorrow we will sit down and work out what we need to do to help him.”
Taking a deep breath, I silently nodded at Jax. “I just hope tomorrow is a better day,” I whispered.
“It will be, Squirt,” Jax hummed, “think positive. We are in this together, till the wheels fall off, remember.”
Hours had passed, the work was steady which I was grateful for however I desperately needed sleep. Over the last month I had been opening up the cafe followed by a closing shift at the bar. Both businesses were short staffed due to people taking vacation time and illness, meaning I had to spread myself thin to make sure both establishments kept bringing in income for the club. I could have asked for help getting some of the prospects in to take some of the pressure off but the truth was I didn’t trust them. They hadn’t been patched yet and a lot of them still had to prove their loyalty to the club.
The moment I had put the lock on the main doors of the bar I let out a huge sigh of relief that was until I looked around the bar seeing the glasses scattered across the tables. The prospects that had been chosen to help around the bar really hadn’t pulled their weight this evening, confirming my decision not to ask for any help. I was definitely going to be having words with Jax about it.
Glancing at the time I groaned knowing that by the time I had finished the clean up it would be well past 2am, so once I had gotten to bed I would only end up having a couple of hours sleep before I had to be up to get the cafe ready for opening.
It made me wonder if it was even worth going to sleep tonight.
“Nova, go home,” Bobby said, appearing from the direction of the kitchen. He already had the large black plastic tub that we used for collecting the glasses tucked under his arms. “I’ve got this, you go get yourself in bed, sweetheart. The last thing we need is you collapsing from exhaustion.”
“You sure?” I asked, trying to hide the yarn that escaped from my lips.
“Absolutely,” he said, flashing me a soft smile.
Right now I was so grateful, I hated abandoning ship but I knew I could never win this fight with Bobby. He was someone that once he had set his mind on something you couldn’t do anything about it.
It didn’t take me long to round my things up, not when it comprised my phone, smokes, car keys and lighter. Slipping everything into my pockets I strolled over to Bobby giving him a hug.
As I was making my way out of the bar Bobby started speaking again. “I’m proud of you sweetheart, you acted better than we all expected tonight.”
“What are you on about?” I laughed, cocking my eyebrow at him in confusion.
“We were graced with the presence of your favorite Formula One driver tonight,” he said with a large smirk firmly planted on his face.
Great first Pops and now Bobby, was everyone losing their mind in this town?
I had two options: play along with it or call him out on him going crazy. After weighing up my options I decided to go along with this crazy story.
“I know right! I can’t believe they chose our small town, let alone our bar,” I squealed over dramatically whilst rolling my eyes. “Maybe they will come back tomorrow, we will fall madly in love before running off into the sunset together!”
“Kiddo with how the boy was checking you out, it wouldn’t surprise me if he became a regular,” Bobby replied, with a large smirk on his face.
“You’ve been reading Elenor too many stories, old man,” I scoffed, once again rolling my eyes at him. There was no way on this earth that two talented formula one drivers were in the bar let alone checking me out. “Maybe I need to send you with Pops to the memory clinic.”
“Sweetheart, he definitely was, I swear Jax was moments away from ripping his throat out with the way Leclerc was running his eyes over your body,” he chuckled, a large smirk gracing his face as he continued to collect glasses.
“Goodnight, you crazy old man, I will text you the details of Pops’ next appointment,” I hollered over my shoulder, making my way to the back exit.
For what felt like the millionth time this evening my mind was spinning.
Was it fuck with Nova day or something?
Clambering in the driver's seat of my old truck I rested my forehead against the steering wheel, I desperately needed sleep. I knew I would be fine in the morning and this would just be a bad dream.
The drive home went by in a blur, a small smile appeared on my face as I noticed Jax had left the porch light on for me. No matter how many times he did this it always warmed my heart.
All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep, but there was something playing on my mind. I needed to know if Pops and Bobby were telling the truth because if they were I had made a complete fool of myself from the moment me and Jax got back from dirt biking. I just prayed that if he was in the bar, he wasn’t there when I was reciting Crofty’s commentary from Monza. Because if he was then I could never show my face in the bar again.

Hellfire Mom
Tumblr media
Summary: You have been deem the title of Hellfire Mom since you were a sophomore. Even after starting your own little family with your fiancé Eddie, you still make sure your extended family gets fed and loved.
Trope: Dad!Eddie x Mom!Reader
A/N: I kinda want to make this into a series. Talking about how Eddie and reader met and little things like that. Would you peeps want that?
Warnings: Use of Y/N, horrible writing, mentions of sex but not really, fluff, Eddie just being in love with his family.
Word count: 1.2k
It was Friday, Hellfire Day. You always had Fridays off for that exact reason. Hellfire. You spent the day cooking and baking for your boys, the other family. You always had the mother instinct in you. You love the idea of having a family. It came a little too soon, people would say, but it was worth it. You and Eddie have been dating since freshman year and decided to wait till Prom your senior year to lose your virginity together. Well, the condom broke, because said condom was from freshman year, and boom you were pregnant. Yes, you got stares and were that talk of the town “she is having the freaks baby” “he will probably sacrifice her and the baby” but you both ignore them. Then on a chilly day in mid-January baby girl Munson was born, Stella Munson. She’s beautiful, she has Eddie’s big brown eyes, his curly brown hair other than that she was your mini me......Speaking of your mini me she should be getting up from her nap soon.
Right on Que you hear her little feet on the wooded floor. “Well hello baby how did you sleep” “Good” she said in her sweet small voice. “That good baby” “Up mommy” she gave that puppy dog face and grabbing hands and you caved immediately. “You ready to see daddy, and all of your uncles” “DADDY” oh yea she was a big daddy’s girl. “Ok let me finish up dinner and then we will get ready to go” “I watch Belle” “Yes you can watch Belle while I finish” Beauty and the Beast is her favorite movie. On tonight's menu, your family was having fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, homemade biscuits, and your famous homemade cookies. As you finished packing up dinner for your family, you got Stella ready, and all bundled up then headed to the car.
You pulled into the school Stella squealed, Eddie was waiting by his van with a smile. “DADDY” you rolled down her window“My star how are you babygirl” “I good daddy” Eddie opened your door and helped you out of the car, then got Stella out and her “Hellfire backup” which has toys and things for coloring. You walked in hand in hand to the drama room and started to set up the table with the food. “Ooo what did make for us today love-” *gasp* “You made your cookies” “Yes the chocolate was finally in stock so I had to- hey hands off” “But I haven’t had your cookies in a month” “Nether has the others” “Yea but they could wait I got fiancé privileges” when you turned your back to grab the potatoes he “sneakily” grab a cookie but got caught by Stella “Daddy me cookie” “Sssh we will spit it” her little giggles fill your ears. Your favorite sound.
Soon the boys piled in “Y/N” “Stella” “cookies” were heard throughout the room. The boys lined up as you served them, then they all settled in, in their seats to start Eddie’s campaign. In this one-shot campaign, they had to save Eddie’s the banished's fair maiden, you, and their little princess, Stella. She was so excited to be in it, she even brought out her crown from her backpack and put it on. After she ate, she climbs into Eddie’s lap, her favorite spot, and “helped” Eddie with his visual aid. You watched your family, bellies full, big smiles even mike, after a hard week this was your reward, this was your happy place.
The night ended, the empty Tupperware put away, Stella fast asleep on Eddie’s lap. You walked out hand in hand with Eddie holding Stella, he covered her with her blanket when he stepped outside, then he put her into her car seat with a kiss on her forehead. You made sure each boy had a ride before heading to your car. You and Eddie stay until everyone was picked up. He turned to you and kissed your lips. “I missed you” “I been with you this whole time” “Yeah but you weren’t in my arms” you rolled your eyes and laughed at him “Your too cute” You kissed Eddie again then you got into your car. “I see you at home” “Yes, I’m just going to drop by Uncle Wayne’s really quick then I will be home” “Ok” then you kissed once more before you drove away.
You and Eddie lived in a little two bedroom next to the trailer park, so he would be a few minutes behind. You got Stella out of the car, did an amazing mom move holding her and the bags all while unlocking the door. You set the bags down then grabbed her pj’s put them on then tucked her in with a kiss. You went into the kitchen and started picking it up, getting the meat out for tomorrow's dinner and breakfast. Eddie and Stella loved Saturday mornings, you make a big breakfast, and they watched Saturday morning cartoons, you brought out extra knowing the freshman boys would probably come over. After about 15 minutes you hear Eddie’s van pull up, as you were finishing washing the dishes you feel Eddie’s arm wrap around your waist. “Oh, my love I haven’t since you in forever I almost don’t remember what your face looks like” Oh Eddie how you loved his antics you turned to play along but nothing came out. Eddie held a bouquet of flowers for you. “Eddie- I- Oh- Eddie-” he chuckled “My love” he started “ Will you accompany me on a date tomorrow night” “Oh Eddie, Stella and I would love to-” “As much as I love my Star tomorrow night will just be us” “But we don’t have a babysitter” “I already got that covered” you teared up even years later you are still touched over his love for you. “Well then yes, I will accompany you tomorrow night”
Eddie got his clothes ready to shower “So are you going to hop in with me” you looked at the time “It’s late so I will take you up on that but no funny business” “No promises” he said with a winked. After the shower you did your night routine and put on your Eddie shirt with some shorts, Eddie was just in a pair of boxers checking you out “You're so beautiful my love” “Oh stop I’m just in my pj’s” “And” *kiss* “still” *kiss* “beautiful” *kiss*. You climb into bed when arms open as Eddie jumps into bed with you, he settles in your arms with his head on your chest as your stork his hair. He tells you about his day and how that prick Jason picked on the hellfire club again, but how he did what you told him to do when he had the urge to punch his stupid face. But you were so proud of him that he controlled himself, he can’t have another fight so close to graduation. The topic then changes, and his words got lower and slower as did his breath. He got quiet for a minute, you thought he fell asleep nut he clears his throat he smiled and said “Let's have another”

more to love, josh kiszka
Tumblr media
this is for my plus size ladies! i wrote this from experience!
friendly reminder that if ANYONE needs someone to talk to, that I am here.
warnings : bullying, language, being the overweight best friend, crying, smut, oral f rec
word count : 1.4k+
pairing : josh kiszka x plussize!reader
There was no denying that you had been bigger than most women. There was no thigh gap, you had flabby arms, you had love handles, you had always been big.
Josh never saw it as big. He viewed you as more to love. He loved everything about you. He loved falling asleep on you, he loved wearing your clothes, he loved grabbing your thighs, he loved you.
You, Josh, Jake, and Rachel had gone out. Rachel and Jake had been together for a little while shorter than you and Josh had. Jake and Rachel met through you. She was your best friend. The skinny best friend, the one who was always the spotlight.
You walked into the restaurant and saw Rachel, dressed in a tight red dress, hair done, perfect nails. Perfect body, perfect hair, perfect nails. Everything about her was perfect.
You and Josh sat down at the table and ordered your drinks. “Don't you think you should lay off the sweet tea, hun?” Rachel said. You looked at her astonished, “Excuse me?” you asked her.
“I said, are you going to lay off the tea? That shit is so bad for you, no wonder why you look like that. Your thighs look fucking huge.” she repeated. You looked at her, mouth hung open. Josh looked over at Jake and he was looking over at Rachel, surprised.
Your drinks came over and the waitress asked if you were ready to order food. You hadn't eaten anything yet and Josh knew that. “I will take chicken tenders and fries with ranch. What do you want, love?” he asked you. You shook your head and said, “I'm fine.” He shook his head and said to the waitress, “She’ll take the same, thank you.” He turned to you and said, “You have to eat, hun.” You shook your head and got up from the table.
You went to the bathroom and locked the door, looking in the mirror. You took one look into the reflection of your own eyes. “Why didn't I come out like her?” you said to yourself, getting teary eyed. Your hair had been curly and shaggy, just like Danny’s. Your outfit was a blue sweater with jeans and white shoes. Your nails were just pink with a heart on your middle and ring fingers.
You ended up in the bathroom corner, head in your hands, crying. The door knob jiggled and in came the bartender. She had been one of your best friends in high school, before Rachel. She witnessed all the harsh words Rachel had said to you in high school.
“Y/N, is that you?” Michelle asked you. You nodded and she got down on the floor with you. “Come on, why are you crying? Don't tell me it's Rachel, again?” She asked you. You nodded and she sighed. She moved next to you and put her head on your shoulder, comforting you.
Michelle was at your wedding, she was your maid of honor. “You have one thing she doesn't, Kiszka attached to her name, you do. She doesn't have that beautiful ring on her finger.” she said.
You looked down at your left hand and saw your ring. Josh had picked out the most beautiful ring for you. You heard a “Mama? You in here?”
Josh. You had left him at the table, alone. Michelle opened the stall and in walked Josh, your purse, a to go bag, and a sweet tea in his hand. He stuck his free hand out and said, “Come on, let's go home.”
He helped you up and you hugged him. Knowing that's what you needed in moments like that, he put everything on the floor and hugged you back. “I know,” was all he had to say.
You two got home and you grabbed your purse out of the backseat. Josh grabbed the food and put it all out on the kitchen table. He poured your tea into your favorite cup and added lots of ice. He sat back down and said, “You weren't there, but Jake and I told her what she said was wrong. He wouldn't let me cuss her out.”
NO ONE'S POV
“Why would you say that to her? You know she has problems with her body image, what the hell is wrong with you?” Josh scolded Rachel. “Yeah Rach, I mean seriously. Did you really need to say that to her?” Jake agreed with his brother. Rachel looked over at Jake and said, “Well I'm not wrong. She's slowly killing herself. She needs to eat healthier and go to the gym.”
“She goes to the gym! She eats salads every night for dinner! She eats salad and then goes to the gym, for hours on end. I saw her in the mirror the other day, grabbing her thigh and making it look smaller, saying “My body is my body, there is nothing I can do.” So fuck you. She wakes up at 3AM, starving cause all she eats is fucking lettuce and doesnt eat anything to support her needs. You know what she needs, is a fucking support system! She needs someone to understand how she feels. You've been her best friend since college and this is how you treat her?” Josh said and stood up from the table. He looked at his little brother and said, “Your bitch needs a leash.” and walked away.
He went to the bar and told them to pack the food to-go and if they could add a large sweet tea. Jake came over and said, “Tell Y/N that I'm sorry.” Josh turned to him and said, “It's not you who should be apologizing.”
He got the food and walked into the bathroom and saw Michelle and Y/N in the stall together.
Y/N'S POV
You and Josh had eaten dinner and went upstairs to get ready for the night. You showered together, but Josh finished first. He set out clothes for you and got into his pajamas. He laid down and waited for you to finish in the shower.
You came out of the bathroom and saw your clothes sitting on the edge of your bed. You saw your favorite lotion sitting on the bed. “Can I put it on for you?” Josh spoke up and asked. You nodded and he let you sit down on the bed. You put your cami and panties on but left the pants off so he could rub lotion on you.
“Look at that beautiful ring, it shines just like you.” he said. You blushed and reached down for a kiss. He laid you down and moved down to your legs. He rubbed your legs and said, “Can I take these off?” and played with the waistband of your panties. You nodded and he said, “Let me hear you say it.”
“Yes Josh, please take them off.” you told him, growing impatient. He pulled them down and said, “Look at that, Mama. Why’re you all wet, baby?” You kept silent and let him work his magic. He rubbed your thighs and said, “I love your thighs, especially when my head is buried between them. Keep my ears warm, baby.” and put his head between your legs.
He attached his lips to your clit and wrapped his arms up under your ass, resting his hands on your ass cheeks. He nuzzled his face closer into you and you felt his tongue dart in and out of you.
He continued his assault on your pussy, never slowing the pace of his tongue. He removed one hand from you and attached his thumb to your clit. You sat up on your elbows and looked at Josh. He looked up at you, lower half his face no longer in your sight. He flashed his pretty brown eyes at you and sucked harder on you.
You laid back down and threaded your left hand into his hair. He moaned into you when you tugged on his hair a little. His hair had gotten caught on something, so you looked and saw your ring, snagged in his hair. You pulled your ring out of his hair, which caused his head to jerk forward. He moaned into you and licked faster.
After you had finished, he kissed up your body and focused on your stomach. He laid his head down on you and said, “I love you and your perfect body. It's just more to love.”

more heartstopper headcanons!! someone stop me!! (you can’t)
(tw mentions of mental health things)
- charlie lives a bit of clutter. so it’s canon that charlie loves collecting things, but i feel like he would be a maximalist in terms of loving things to be on display. photos all over the walls, fav jumpers on a rack so they’re all visible, jewellery or hair or skin products out on the table type of person. not messy, just a ‘like it where i can see it’ person
- tara gives me insomniac vibes. idk if it’s the folklore poster or what but i feel like she is a night owl by nature, but also her lack of sleep goes further into maybe overthinking, or just general daydreaming
- i have this idea that the first time nick experiences a panic attack, he literally has no idea what it is. idk how or when or where it would happen, but if charlie was there, nick would be like “omg what is going on i can’t breathe i’m gonna be sick wtf” and charlie would 100% step up and be like “look you’re defo having a panic attack just breathe with me you’re gonna be ok!!” (can someone talented write a fic pls)
- as upsetting as it is, i think darcy doesn’t cut her mum out of her life even though she is a bully to her. i feel like she would come out to her eventually, and her mum would be awful about it, but darcy would still keep in touch even if it’s minimal (christmas and birthday cards and such) even though she doesn’t really want to
- tori is 100% a dan and phil fan. probs charlie and ollie too actually. they all get pizza and curly fries together and watch dan and phil videos in the living room when their parents are away

Special Delivery | Alma
Tumblr media
fandom: gokurakugai
pairing: alma x gn!reader
genre: fluff / tooth-rooting fluff / a hint of angst but not too much so don't worry
notes: ooc I guess (there's not a lot of chapters), lesbian!tao cause I know that woman has sex with other women, I refer to tao and alma as brother and sister cause that's what they are to me, a lot of this are my own headcanons so I can connect some dots, spoilers for the series so far
summary: uh-oh! looks like our favorite troubleshooter has a crush on the person who delivers his food.
(08/05/2023: Good news! As of this note, we're getting serialized Gokurakugai in Shonen Jump! I'm so happy!)
"It's almost time. Do you think they got stuck in traffic? Do you think they forgot our address?" Alma mutters nervously as he paces near the front door of their office/apartment.
Tao sighs in annoyance. Her cigarette leaves her mouth and smoke billows out from her lips. Once again, her little brother is getting worked up for such an uncouth reason. So once again, she has to make sure he doesn't exhaust himself.
"Alma."
"Oh crap! What if a Maga got to them cause it smelled our food!? Aaahhh!" Alma shrieks as he grips the red strands of his hair tightly.
"Alma!" Tao stands and slams a book on her desk, making her partner in crime jump and turn towards her.
"Y-Yes, Tao?" He asks, now a bit more anxious thanks to the noise.
"It's only been thirty minutes since you ordered. So if you don't calm down, I'm sticking you with cleaning up the bathroom until I'm finished eating." Tao reminds him as the taller one nonchalantly sits back down and opens up the book that rocked the room.
Alma stares in a deadpan as his sister then takes a hit from her cigarette. The redhead was very aware that he shouldn't be acting this way. He fights monsters that crawl up from the pits of hell on a daily basis so what's getting him so worked up? Over a food delivery no less?
You see, ever since that new diner a few blocks away from the Troubleshooters opened up, where you could just about order anything from cheeseburgers to an entire salmon entree, Alma found himself infatuated.
Not just with the varieties of food on display, but with the pretty delivery person he saw in the window getting ready to head out.
The delivery person in question? That was you.
On that day, time seemed to stop as Alma watched you pack the edible items into your insulated bag. Or was it some type of cooler?
The point was, the second his baby blue eyes landed on you, the half Maga boy was frozen. His palms felt clammy, a knot churned in his gut, he could see his breath fog on the glass, and his face flushed red.
Behind him, Tao stopped her brisk walk and saw that her brother seemed to be stuck in place. Being the inquisitive person she was she headed back over to the display window, took in Alma's awestruck expression, and followed his line of sight. To where you just about finished packing signaled by the swipe of your brow.
The gunslinger grinned.
As you hefted your bag and left the back way, Tao shook Alma by the shoulder, "Wake up, Al".
The redhead rapidly shakes his head and meets his sister's glassy gaze, "Tao? What just happened?"
"I should be asking you the same thing. You okay? Your whole face is red."
"It is?" Alma placed a hand over his chest. He could feel his heart thump wildly and his Solution thrum in time with it. "My chest is beating like crazy. Oh no! I'm not coming down with something am I?!"
Tao just chuckled softly. God, the kid's innocence was downright adorable. But that didn't mean she could let him in on it right now. Not before she got the answers herself.
"You're probably just hungry again. Why don't we order something from here?" She thumbed to the diner and he seemed to like that idea.
"Yeah! You're right! I'm gonna get myself a triple cheeseburger with curly fries!" Alma happily dashed into the building with his sister following behind.
Once the overhead bell jingled, Tao had to stop herself from breaking into laughter once she noticed how her brother at the booth was swinging his legs back and forth like a five year old at an ice cream bar. "Over here, Tao!" He boomed merrily despite being a millimeter away.
It was crazy, she thought. How seeing you made the redhead's day much brighter. After all, they were almost killed during a mission earlier for the umpteenth time. It's amazing to know how resilient one person can be. Even if they needed an extra pick me up.
"In a second, Al." The silver haired woman turned to the hostess next to her, "Excuse me..." She gave your description and asked for your name. Once she got the information, she took out at least a thousand in cash and her business card.
"From now on, we'll only accept deliveries from them."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What do you think they'll be wearing?" Alma asks in a dreamy voice while looking through the peephole.
"If I had to guess, the same things from the last time they were here." Tao replied, just thankful her brother wasn't roaming in a panic anymore.
"Right, the uniform." Alma leaves the door and sprawls his body over the couch. Clutching a pillow to his chest, he let his thoughts wander to something else. He calls for his sister.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think it's weird we somehow get them every single time we order?"
Tao breathes in her cigarette and exhales, "I think I remember hearing them say they're always understaffed or something."
Alma doesn't respond. He turns his body away, palm covering his ear.
Tao can't help but believe that he might figure it out. Finally. After like, weeks of this. "Do you wanna talk about anything?
"Like what?"
"I dunno. Whatever you want. Just to pass the time, I know you're getting antsy."
Alma's gulp echoes through the office. He reverses his sides so his sister can see the light dusting of pink on his cheeks. Slowly, he gets up and goes over to the chair in front of Tao's desk and sits. With his head lowered, Tao waits to see what he does next.
"I don't want them to come here!" Alma blurts out and lifts his head, tears of frustration pricking his eyes.
Tao stares in bewilderment, "Who are you talking about? You don't mean..." They both say your name at the same time.
When finally questioned, Alma breaks down and explains that he feels like he has a heart attack and straight up dies every time he opens the door for the exchange. Where he has to make eye contact with you and those few seconds feel like an humiliating eternity. He knows at that moment he has to speak, but he feels his lips are glued shut. He dances a stupid jiggly dance as the money leaves his hands and are replaced with his curly fries. Then, he can't recognize his handwriting on the receipt.
What's incredulous is that by now, you aren't scared away from his behavior. How you couldn't care less if it's Tao who answers instead of him.
He also doesn't know why the spell seems to always break when he shuts the door on your retreating form. The only things he could think of for the rest of the day is either your bright smile, your bell like voice, the way your uniform shows off your figure, or how his hands still buzz after they connect with yours.
Tao sighs deeply once he finishes the rant.
She understands completely. Now she knows why Alma seemed a bit too distracted when working jobs sometimes these past few days. Each time, they would've said goodbye to you again just before.
But hey, at least her gut feeling was right on the money earning her another win.
Speaking of distractions, The redhead looks to be off in another world.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ah! Somebody help me!" You scream as you attempt to escape the Maga that was chasing you.
When the creature's claws come down, you manage to duck and weave into a nearby alleyway. Only to stop when you realize you've reached a dreaded dead end.
You look up at the monster, it's mouth opening up; primed and ready to swallow you as their next meal. You whimper and attempt to shield yourself when... you hear your name being called from the heavens.
"Get away from them!" Alma rages from on top of a building in his Maga form.
You catch a glimpse of him despite the creature in your way, "Alma, please save me!" You cry out.
He jumps and flies down. He's able to slice the monstrosity in half with his sword. You're in shock as the Maga dissipates to reveal the Troubleshooter, looking as dashing and unbothered as ever.
"Sorry I'm late, babe." He cheekily replies as he moves his sword to his shoulder and flips his short hair.
"My hero!" You praise and rush into his awaiting arms. Once the two of you embrace, you pepper his face with grateful kisses.
"Heh, what do you say we get out of here and grab a bite?" He suggests pridefully.
You nod your head with great enthusiasm and with his hand on your waist, the two of you leave the dingy place only to come face to face with... Tao.
She is certainly not happy.
"Oh. Hey-"
"ALMA!" She roars.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The redhead yelps and falls back in his seat onto the wood floor. He winces in pain a little as Tao looks on in exasperation.
"You okay?" She asks.
"Yeah." Alma lifts up his chair and returns to a sitting position. "Sorry about that. I know you hate it when I drift off in the middle of something."
"You bet your ass I do." Tao grumbles through her cigarette.
"Tao, do you think I'm allergic to them? Is that even possible?" Alma wonders.
The smoker blinks a few times, before she lets out a hearty laugh. Making Alma fume in embarrassment.
"What's so freaking funny?" He demands.
Tao wipes a few tears, "No, you're not allergic, dumbass! You have a crush on them!" She reveals.
Oh.
"Oh."
A puzzle piece clicked in place in that big brain of his.
HOLY SHIT! SHE'S RIGHT I TOTALLY LOVE THEM! Alma yelled in his head as he felt coughs of surprise escape his throat.
"Jesus, dude. Here." Tao hands him a water bottle which he opened and downed eagerly.
Once he finished, he gave his sister a pissed off look. "Dammit! You knew about it this whole time, didn't you!?" He exclaimed.
Tao responded by giving a sly grin and tapping the end of her cigarette butt on her ashtray, "I may have. Sorry, but I just have to see where some things lead to." She remarks. The mischievous glint on her glasses tells Alma all he needed to know.
"Oh, you freaking-!"
Alma was cut off by the sound of their doorbell ringing.
"MOTHER FUDGE! THEY'RE HERE!" He cried and raced to his bedroom. Tao couldn't even finish calling his name when his door slammed shut.
The doorbell rang again as Tao leaned back in her seat and felt a headache forming.
You in the meantime, were waiting ever so patiently when the door to the Troubleshooter's finally opened. Which gave way to Tao's tall stature. You flashed your brightest smile at her.
"Hello again, Sister T-"
"He'll be out in a sec." She interrupts before she shuts the door with a bang.
Another one opened, behind it was Alma hiding under his bed covers. Tao just let her eyes roam over in slight concern. For him or was it the fact that when she agreed to take him in all those years ago she never once thought she had to deal with hormones? And she thought Alma in his Maga form was bad enough when he went berserk. In hindsight, this is actually much more complicated.
So what else could she do but light up again and take a seat next to him.
"Why didn't you bring in the food?" He mumbles.
"Because you're going to have to face them at some point. Might as well be now." She suggests.
Alma moved the blankets enough for his sister to see his eyes. "Could you put that out? I don't want the smell to get on my stuff." He says.
"Sorry." Tao drops it and snuffs it out with her shoe. "I don't get it. I've never seen you act this way before. Do you really feel like it's the end of the world if you... confess to them or something?"
Confess.
That word made Alma's head spin, "No. But now that I know what this is, I'm scared that they may not like me back. Not to mention I'm gonna have to let them in on my little secret. What if they... think I'm a monster?"
Tao isn't exactly an expert when it comes to romance either. Every woman she's dated either broke it off with her or the relationship fell apart on it's own. Okay, maybe she's the one who dumped them as well. Hell, it means she has learned a few things from all that.
She lays a hand on Alma's covered stomach, "It's the hardest thing to do. Airing it all out for someone you want to take a chance with."
"Yeah. Man, I forgot you would know how it feels." Alma reminds the both of them.
Tao solemnly nods.
Then, slowly, the blue eyed boy sits up, leaning against a higher pillow.
"If you ask me, those ladies missed out on someone as awesometacular as you."
His sister felt light headed all of a sudden. She turned away to cover her face as she saw the corners of her glass covered eyes become blurry with the smallest of tears.
"You good?" Her brother asks.
Immediately, Tao turns back to him, a nice smile as a greeting.
"Yeah." She takes off her glasses.
Alma concentrated hard on her next words. Tao may be 'hard at work saving the world' kind of serious most of the time, but it's only when the glasses come off that she's about to get vulnerable.
"Listen, the last thing I want to happen is for you is to grow cold and bitter from heartbreak like me. But I'd be damned if I'm gonna let you ruin a friendship just because you end up repressing shit you can't afford to keep in already. You're young and you may not think so, but you fucking deserve to be happy Alma. Even if it doesn't last." She proclaims.
Her partner in crime seemed to take this to heart. With the way his face keeps contorting, it looks like he has found his answer.
"What would I do without your kick in the pants?" He smiles gratefully.
"Probably be in some government lab."
"Oh, ha-ha."
The twosome leans over and hug each other with a warmth only they were familiar with.
Once they pulled back, Alma speaks, "But there's still a problem with me not being able to look them in the eye."
Tao thinks for a minute then leaves the bedroom. She returns with a pair of darkened sunglasses which she puts on her brother.
"You're kidding me." Alma is stupefied.
"Not really. Now get your ass moving; they've been waiting this whole time." Tao glares and shoves him a bit.

"Dang it!" You mutter as you miss a critical moment on this particular level of Candy Crush.
You hear the door open. Locking your phone, you look up and see your cru - I mean - your good friend, Alma. Wait, why is he wearing those sunglasses?
"Hi, Alma! Finally, I thought you were never going to show up! Then I was going to have to eat all of this by myself!" You chuckle sheepishly. Stupid, this is his house. You turn away and shove your fist in your mouth.
"Sup?"
"What?"
"I said sup?"
"Oh... I'm good. Why are you wearing those glasses? We're indoors, silly." You ask, a matter of factually.
The redhead leaned against the doorframe, an obvious attempt at a 'chill, cool guy' pose. "Oh, me and Tao were trying on new accessories, no big whoop. Wanted to look nice before I came to see you."
You made a motion indicating you believed him but on the inside, the half Maga boy was freaking the heck out. Somehow, the glasses worked but that didn't stop him from feeling unworthy to once again, be blessed by your angelic beauty and presence. Especially to a lowly monster like him.
You on the other hand wore rose colored glasses, not Alma's sunglasses, mind you. But the way he presented himself made your stomach's butterflies flutter. Why were you here again? Oh, yeah. To give them their dinner... and a special surprise.
You sneaked a glance at the pink box hidden under the Troubleshooter's meals. You wondered if Alma would like it, cause that would have to mean he liked you, right?
When you first saw him staring at you from your work's window, you thought he was the cutest boy in the world. It sucked you had to be away from the diner most of the time when he and his sister came to stay for a bite. When you weren't peering over at their booth every couple of seconds, you managed to get a few words over to him. You didn't catch a lot of what he said mostly because you were entranced by the sound of his voice.
Then when you heard about his and Tao's exploits, you were stunned. It really made you admire him more... the way he put his life on the line and looked good doing it. Until the admiration turned into something much deeper. Oh god, you liked liked him. A crush as regular people called it.
He was a superhero basically. Why would he ever give you the time of day when all the action you got was taking in how people decorated their hallways or living rooms?
But you were not so easily swayed. Despite your worries, you had to shoot your shot before someone else swept him off his feet.
What's that old saying? The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
Luckily, you were in position to deliver just that. That's why the pink box holds the key to unlocking the next chapter of your love life.
Now let's hope Alma isn't as oblivious as he seems.
"Here, you guys must be starving." You held up the hot bag and presented their boxes with their desired dishes.
"Sweet! Come to Papa!" Alma took the box that always had his name on it.
Which you wrote... and never once forgot to bust out your fanciest cursive.
"I can always count on you. Making sure my burger and curly fries are safe from dumb goons who might want to steal them."
You giggled at his remark.
He saw your cheeks twinge pink.
His did too.
It was cute. You are so freaking cute. He thought.
Then, pressure fell over you two. It wasn't comfortable, far from it. It was so tense because there was one reason why.
You both were contemplating on making the first move.
With a few quick gulps here, eyes darting this way and that, lips pursed with elation,  and sweat pouring down from your foreheads there...
"Well, I'll see you later! Enjoy!" You squeak out and started dashing down the hallway.
What was I thinking?! I can't do this! Guess your nerves got the better of you. Better luck next time.
Alma called your name and the next time you blinked, he was in front of you. Oh right, he has superpowers.
"What is it!?" You questioned, a bit more nervous now that the sunglasses were gone and you were looking him dead in his beautiful baby blues.
The redhead merely presented the payment.
"You forgot the money." His smile showed off his sharp canines. Making him look more adorable to the point where your heart went pitter patter.
You could've collapsed to your knees right then and there as you stared at the dollars and coins. "Sorry, I don't know where my head is today."
"I know that feeling."
Once the receipt was signed and the change was given out, Alma blocked you once you attempted to walk around him.
"Is something wrong?" You asked.
"Yeah..." He replied.
In the short time you've known him, you never saw him looking so damn serious.
Dear lord, was it hot the way he stared you down.
That stopped your jitters in its tracks cause it was replaced with... longing.
Then, he puffed up straight as a board and swiftly bowed down to you.
"Huh?" Needless to say, you were confused by this.
"I'velikedyousincethemomentwemet! Wouldyoudomethehonorofgoingonandate withme!?" The way he was saying this is like his keyboard was smashed in.
You processed what he said...
HOLY CRAP!
DID HE JUST ASK YOU OUT FIRST!?
You let out a gasp, a sigh, and a relived chuckle.
Alma lifted his head up to you laughing at him.
Oh no, laughing at him?
He left his bowing position and frowned.
"I guess this means no?"
You quickly stopped and took in his saddest expression.
You knew how to remedy this. Your crush just did you a huge favor.
"Alma, I have something I want to give you. Here." You reached in the bag and took out the pink box.
Thankfully, he accepted it. He took out the note from the envelope attached to the box. In the same cursive he recognized from his dinner boxes, it said:
"Dear Alma,
I want to get to know you better because I think you're really cool. I'm so lucky for our visits at work and at your home. I appreciate what you do to protect our town and I can see us being more than friends.
I can't deny it anymore. The truth is, I like you a lot.
I hope you accept what I have in the box. So I can take it as a sign that you feel the same way about me.
Would you maybe like to see a movie together one day?"
He read the "Love" ending out loud and opened the box right after.
Inside it, was cookies in the shape and decorated of you and himself. They may be a bit crude but the little figures were holding hands.
He took out his and met your gaze. You were twiddling your fingers with a face as red as his hair.
"Go on, you can say it. I'm so corny. I wasn't planning on being here when you opened it." You giggled again.
His stern focus on you never wavered as he placed the cookie back in the box and set them both down.
He didn't want to know what would happen if he looked away for even a second.
"Alma?" You were a little worried since he wasn't talking.
He stands back up, closes the gap between the two of you, gently grabs you by the shoulders... and kisses you.
It's soft and tender as hoped by you both.
Small and meager you were since he overshadows in height. He smells like everything the sun would be if it weren't lethal. Alma thinks you smell like the embodiment of everything that's sugary and pure.
The only sound was both of your heartbeats drumming in your ears.
It feels like an eternity passed in the empty hallway when you finally broke apart.
Trembling breaths were exhaled.
Now you were locked onto each other for real, minds slowly coming in for a landing from being on cloud nine.
"You free tomorrow? Seven?" Alma asked, panting a bit.
"Yeah, I am." You responded, trying to catch up as your body was still shaking from this giddy feeling.
Alma is gleefully laughing before he picked you up with those strong arms of his and twirled you around. He let you go safely and grabbed the cookie box.
"Great! I'll pick you up!" He waved goodbye and went back into his apartment.
When you heard the door shut, that's when you dropped to you knees.
You touched your lips which were still tingling from the kiss.
Guess there was nothing to worry about after all.
You silently squealed to yourself. You felt like anything was possible.
Now that your friendly neighborhood Troubleshooter has agreed to go out with you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"HELL YEAH!"
The second he got back, Alma went straight to the couch in order to have a one man jumping party on it.
He was ecstatic! You liked him! You really liked him enough to make sweets with his face on it! He was never going to forget this moment. He didn't know what came over him when decided to go for it and outright kiss you, but he sure as hell enjoyed it! All his troubles seem to go up in the flames of first love now that he was going on his first date with you.
What about the part where he'll have to tell you his Maga secret? Well, that's a problem for future him. Right now he needs to bask in this high for as long as possible.
"Pinch me! I must be dreaming-- OW!" he stopped jumping to rub his side in which Tao earned a glare from him.
"My bad, thought you were serious."
She sat at her desk and started working on her bowl of tomato basil soup.
"Aren't you going to ask me how it went?" The redhead tapped his foot impatiently.
The silver haired woman lets out a sigh, "I take it went well?"
"More than well! We kissed! They made me cookies and we're going to the movies tomorrow!" The happy boy resumed his jumping and cheering.
"Congrats, you picking them up?"
"Yeah!"
"So you know where they live?"
That's when Alma remembered he didn't. Plus, he didn't have your phone number nor that you had a shift tomorrow either. Did you even agree on a movie? Verbally?
"Aw, crap..."
As she watched her brother sink into the couch cushions, Tao groaned and opened her phone to call the diner for your number.
Ah, young love.
Really does make fools of us, doesn't it?

thinking about your actor au ... thinking about Hunter not being allowed to be his natural healthy body weight. thinking about his scars getting covered with make-up. thinking about the gap in his teeth getting edited away whenever possible. thinking about Amity having to appear Perfect at all times. thinking about Luz and Willow probably getting their hair straightened before filming. thinking about all of them getting dressed a certain way for Marketability. THINKING. VERY HARD.
You are so me. I'm always thinking. Always.
Willow didn't even know Hunter had scars until after knowing him for MONTHS because whenever she saw him he was always caked in makeup. Nobody ever noticed when he got a new one.
Hunter wears a dental flipper. Which is basically just a set of false upper teeth that he clips in over his real ones.
Amity is under heaps of stress to perform well in school, to keep up with her acting classes, to stay on top of work, to never appear as tired or overwhelmed, to keep her reputation squeaky.
You read my mind about the hair!! They DO straighten it!! Luz isn't an actor but just like in canon, she fries it to fit in better. All the characters she admires on TV have straight hair.
And I'm so sorry to give this bit of info about Willow but...early on in this AU, she really does not like the way she looks. At all. She's very insecure about it. Tons of young girls fall victim to an inferiority complex from the conventional Hollywood beauty standard but also. It is so SO much worse if you're an actress. And you constantly feel out of place. So Willow allows her big poofy curly hair to be straightened. Braided. Tied back. Whatever they feel like they need to do to make her more palatable to their audience. She's such a doormat before she meets Luz.
They ARE dressed a certain way. Modest. Colourful. Flashy and child friendly. An insane amount of layers and chunky accessories.
But Willow is very aware that the people in wardrobe are way more enthusiastic to dress Amity than her. They dress the two girls distinctly differently. Both aren't allowed to show too much skin but she can't help but notice that sometimes Amity gets to wear tank tops. Or skirts without leggings. But never Willow. It seems like Willow always has to be covered.
She doesn't want to show her bare arms. Or bare legs. She really really really doesn't. So she should be relieved they don't make her, right?
Well....its complicated. Because even if she does not want to dress like Amity at all, it really does reinforce her inkling suspicion. There is something wrong with the way she looks and people want to keep her covered. It's hurts. It hurts quite a lot.
