“It’s my pleasure,” Helion smirked, addressing the crowd with his words yet focusing his eyes on her. His brown skin reflected golden in the sun, the white cloth of his draped garment seeming to glow with it.
“Ever the generous host you are, Helion,” She played along for fun, the nature– and limits– of their flirty yet friendly relationship barely a secret.
“I wouldn’t dare displease you,” Helion purred. “You shouldn’t want for anything here. Just say the words, darling, and I’ll personally take care of it.”
Azriel was not the jealous type. He knew the effect he had on her, even all this time, and knew even better the effect she still had on him. It was like no time had passed since they’d been newly mated. His skin flushed as he recalled that initial period, how love-drunk he’d been, truly sated for the first time in his life by her burning affection, having his fill of her taste, and touch, and beautiful mind yet never getting enough of it at the same time.
He was a fool when it came to her, his brothers knew it, she knew it, and Azriel himself would not deny it either.
Yet his skin tightened over his bones and his shirt collar constricted the base of his thick neck ever so slightly as he walked behind her, watching Helion’s eyes trace her form, catching at her collarbones. The thought of him, another male, trying to provide for her, meet her every need, giving her anything… Azriel’s blood boiled. That was his place. He watched as his mate laughed dismissively, unobservant of Helion’s intense gaze.
She was beautiful, charming, and witty. No one could deny it. Rhys did not make her his foreign advisor for no reason. Azriel was quite used to people staring and trying to win her affections, but usually it never bothered him. Because at the end of the day, it was his ears that heard her thoughts and secrets, his eyes that watched her take on the world with grace and strength, and it was his bed they shared every night. He felt secure in their bond and she only had eyes for him, despite the entire world trying to court her at any given moment.
Mor and Feyre shared an amused, knowing glance at each other, studying the three as Rhys took over the conversation.
Helion led the group to his private lake just behind his palace. He was gracious in allowing the Inner Circle to have their summer holiday at his place in the Day Court, granting them access to his entire estate and anything on it for as long as they wished. “There are no such things as debts or favors when it comes to friends,” he said when he offered the location to Rhys in the first place.
The lake was downright gorgeous. Velaris was beautiful, but the Sidra could not compare to the Day Court’s waters even on its best day, a truth Azriel had kept to himself and Cassian had no problem voicing to Rhys. Its turquoise waters stretched for miles and miles, the sandy floor, algae, and tiny native fish visible through the watery looking glass. The palace sat behind them, watching protectively over its best-kept secret, and a vast expanse of green mountains rose on either side, their jagged edges softened by the lush native trees and vegetation. They curved around the lake the same way the gold of a crown hugs its jewel, enclosing it tightly in its earthy palm. Flowers trailed from the balcony down to the beach, the mud and sand padding the rock where the water met the earth. Blankets and a large wicker picnic basket lay ready on the beach.
Mor grabbed her and Feyre in her either of hands and dragged them down to the beach in a giddy, childish run. Azriel’s guiding, protective hand that had been poised at the small of her back suddenly felt cold at the fingertips as she was whisked away, her warm skin no longer close enough to soothe his skin like a balm.
He watched as she shed her clothes, throwing them haphazardly across the blankets. She laughed as Mor threw her dress over the picnic basket and picked out the gold pins in her hair, one by one, letting them land where they wanted to.
Azriel’s cheeks burned and his heart hammered with desire as he watched her shimmy out of her clothing, exposing her soft skin to the touch of the sun. The two-piece swimming slip adorned her curves so perfectly, like the garment was in love with its wearer. He’d picked it out for her. Her hair caught the breeze like something out of a novel and he swore he could smell her soap on the breeze even from all the way over where he was. Everytime he looked at her he felt like he was taking her in for the first time all over again. Part of him almost wanted to turn away with how difficult he suddenly found it to breathe, but he reminded himself with giddy disbelief, she’s mine.
“Easy,” Cassian muttered with a smirk, scenting him.
Azriel cleared his throat and Rhys sent him a boyish smile while continuing his conversation with Helion. Nesta and Amren joined the girls getting ready to get into the water while Elain and Varian settled on the blankets, books in each of their laps.
Mor was the first in the water, squealing at the sensation of it, cold at first, but warming to a luxurious temperature almost immediately. She laced her fingers with Feyre’s and they immediately followed Mor, throwing their heads back and laughing.
She savored the feel of the water against her skin, letting herself melt into its grasp and flow, letting it spread her hair behind her back and thread its liquid fingers through her strands. She submerged herself, gliding through the water until she was further out than anyone else. She’d waited for this holiday even before she knew they were going. She adored swimming, but there weren’t too many spots to do so in Velaris. In the water like this, enveloped in the lapping, balmy embrace of its ripples, she was at peace. Squealing, she beckoned the rest of the girls towards her, waving to Azriel from where he stood smiling like an idiot at her on the beach. He was shirtless now, and her heart skipped a beat at the sight of him.
Azriel thought the sun complemented her skin, but in her eyes, it downright worshiped his. A glow even brighter than Helion’s overly-dramatic gold crown beamed from every inch of his body, tan and beautiful, broad and strong. She needed him in the water now.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a splash of water to her face. She gasped and laughed at the unexpected sensation, Mor and Feyre giggling like schoolgirls at their mischief.
Cassian, Rhys, and Azriel settled back into the blankets, supporting themselves with elbows that dug divots in the sand.
“Did you ever imagine this life for us?” Cassian asked his brothers as each of them watched their mates in the water.
They rarely got a holiday, and it was even more rare that they allowed themselves to take one if they had the time. Of course, it was Rhys that encouraged this outing in the first place. When Azriel and Amren refused, he required it, as their High Lord, to take the holiday with everyone else.
That wasn’t what convinced Azriel, though. It was his mate's excited chatter about the prospect of the holiday at Helion’s lake with all of their friends, getting to spend time with each other outside of Velaris, visiting another court without the prospect of war hovering over them, being able to swim for the first time in so long. She could hardly wait to feel the water on her skin, to feel the sun on her face, and to spend time with Azriel, experience a new place together. He couldn’t say no as he sat back on their bed and watched her try on her new swimming slips for him, as she packed their bags so early in advance because she could hardly wait.
No, Azriel would not take this vacation because of Rhys’ orders as High Lord of the Night Court, but because it made his soulmate so unbelievably happy. That was all the reason he needed.
Azriel shook his head. “I never would have expected it to be this good. Every day feels like I’m waking up in a dream when she’s next to me.”
His brothers could not even ridicule him for his uncharacteristic sappiness. None of them expected to have mates, let alone be so loved by them, when they were just three boys in a war camp deep in the Illyrian mountains. They did not dare to imagine anything about their future for fear of never seeing it. An rough-and-ready lordling and two bastards. What odds.
Life wasn’t always perfect– there would always be Hybern and their human sympathizers, and probably a hundred other things, to worry about. But with their loves in their lives and talks of starting families, they supposed it was as close to perfect as the Cauldron would allow.
The women spent some time in the water, swimming, splashing, lounging, and talking with their mates watching them as they talked amongst themselves. When they decided to get out to eat, Feyre challenged them all to a race.
“You’re going to regret that.”
Feyre raised her brows at Azriel’s mate, her closest friend out of them all, with mischief in her eyes. “Just because you’ve bested me in two other races doesn’t mean you’ll have this one too.”
“I think it does,” she smirked devilishly.
Feyre broke into a swim for the shore to the dismay of the other women. Amidst shouts of protest at Feyre’s unfair start, everyone else began their dash to the shore.
She sliced through the water like a knife through butter, already ahead of Mor, Nesta, and Amren, the latter of which refused to participate. Surpassing Feyre like a born nymph, she barely had to try as her body fell into the familiar motion of cutting through the soft waves of the lake until she felt the water shallow beneath her belly and she was able to stand.
The water swished at her ankles as her feet touched land once again, running up the beach. At the sight of Azriel waiting a little ways down with her towel in his hand, she all but forgot about the race. She ran toward him, blushing at his gaze. He immediately rolled the towel open and wrapped it around her as she ran into him, securing the towel with strong arms that wrapped around her body and swayed her gently with the momentum of her sprint. His strong presence was enough to halt her and she savored the feeling of his body at her back, his warmth seeping through he towel and caressing her water-frozen skin.
She was breathing deeply now, chest rising and falling under his arm. Azriel reveled in the thrum of her heart under his hold, willing it to ease.
Azriel nuzzled his nose into the crook of her neck and she giggled, ticklish and giddy at his proximity.
“Did you see the race, Az? I wooon,” she sang, reaching an arm out of the towel to hold his face behind her. She leaned back against his chest, craning her neck up to meet his eyes, eyes that were absolutely drunk on watching her high. She was naturally competitive, much like he was during his snowball fights with his brothers. Watching her in her element filled him with pride to an extent she would never fully know.
“I did, I’m so proud of you, honey,” he smiled, sliding one of his arms up until it was slung across her chest, connecting his lips with hers. She tasted like the water, sweet and fresh. Azriel couldn’t help himself as he grabbed her waist. It was like drinking from a fountain with an eternal thirst he couldn’t quench. More, more, more. He didn’t care who was around.
She pulled away, flustered. “You sure don’t mind putting on a show,” she turned around fully in his arms so that she was facing him now. The towel had fallen slightly, now hung loosely around the crooks of her elbows. Her wet hair fell in waves around her face and to him, she looked like a goddess of the water. He was barely religious, the furthest thing from it really, but he’d devote himself to her for nothing in return.
Tumblr media
After the food had been brought out, the Inner Circle enjoyed the lunchtime feast of bread, wine, fruit, and meats. After everyone had eaten their fill, namely Cassian who was half passed out on his back, they lounged on the beach. Nesta nestled into Cassian’s broad side with her book, speaking to Elain quietly. Amren and Varian had rattled off somewhere right after they were done eating– insatiable those two were. Mor was laying on her back, facing the sun, catching a tan.
“I’m so happy we did this,” Feyre said softly, addressing the group. “It feels like lately our joy has come from short-lived bursts of happiness or quiet. I can’t tell you all what it means to me that we can have this time without preparing for the worst.”
Rhys rubbed a soothing thumb over her shoulder. Everyone raised their glasses to that.
Azriel leaned back into the sand, one arm folded under his head and the other extended as his mate rested her head on the inside of his bicep. Tired from swimming and full from their meal, she curled into his side, draping a leg across his.
“I’m so happy to be here with you,” She murmured into the side of his chest, peppering kisses there on his warm, tan skin. Azriel brought his arm around her, pulling her closer and resting a hand over her hip, enjoying the heat of her sun-kissed skin beneath it.
He rested his mouth at the top of his forehead as she drifted in and out of sleep. He was like her sleeping drug. Whenever they sat back together to watch a movie, read their books, or on nights in with their friends for some wine and card games, she could hardly stay awake beside him.
His heart swelled. She felt so comfortable around him that her guards collapsed to dust in his presence. She gave herself fully to him, to his care, and he wasn’t sure if he could hold her any tighter at that moment.
Helion came out to check on his guests. “Like a litter of babes, the lot of you,” He chuckled as he took in his friends, exhausted and full, lazing about his private beach. His eyes floated over to her, to her dozing form beside her mate, beautiful and soft. Peaceful. Azriel was aware of his gaze– he always was aware of anyone perceiving his mate. He only opened his book and continued skimming his fingers on her hips above the waistband of her swimsuit. She was blissfully unaware, half awake, half dreaming, lulled into a world of dreams and darkness by the steadiness of Azriel’s breath and light touch.
After the group of friends were well rested, everyone made their way into the water again. Cassian, Rhys, and Azriel raced out to the middle of the lake, Azriel the obvious winner and it wasn’t even close. Cassian batted a wave of water over Az with his wing in tantrum and Rhys only laughed until his stomach throbbed. They played chicken, Nesta on Cassian’s shoulders and she on Azriel’s. Mor wanted to pretend-play mermaids and they dragged the males in on their fun. They begrudgingly played along, yet were silently more than happy to oblige them. Nesta placed a crown of algae on Cassian’s head and he fully committed to his part as King of the Plankton. They floated on their backs, swam in circles, and splashed waves at each other.
Climbing the jagged, rocky cliffs on either side of the lake, they jumped off of their ledges into the water below, in flips and turns, nosedives and backflips. The setting sun cooled the water, a pink and purple sky above their heads melting into an inky blue that lined the horizon.
A perfect day.
Tumblr media
Everyone grew tired again. From the beach music began to play. Light and upbeat, but beautiful and soft– distinctly Day Court.
Azriel gently grabbed her hand, leading her behind one of the cliffs they had jumped off of. It was the largest cliff jutting out of the lake and provided complete privacy when they were on the other side of it.
“I’ve been waiting to get you alone all day,” Azriel said, removing a hand from under the surface of the water and moving a lock of her hair behind her shoulder. He took in her tanned skin and sun-blushed shoulders and cheeks.
“All you had to do was ask,” She replied, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
Azriel’s self control snapped like a rubber band and he pushed his body through the water against her, pinning her to the rock behind them. His hand cradled the back of her head against the jagged cuts of the cliff. He needed more, but he paced himself, letting himself savor the feel of her skin under the water. Azriel ran his hand up and down the side of her stomach, his fingertips trailing the skin as he moved. Her skin pebbled in the wake of his touch, sending a shiver down her spine. Even in his frenzy he took his time. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him closer as he slanted his lips over hers, water sloshing between their bodies in whatever space was left.
She sighed into his mouth and it drove him crazy. Pressing her chest to his, she needed to be as close as could, within his very being if it was possible.
“If I could just crawl into your skin and live inside your heart I would,” She told him one drunken night when she’d gotten so trashed with Nesta and Mor that he needed to fly her back home rather than walk like they always did after a night out. Azriel never forgot those words, and everytime they kissed or hugged he was reminded of them with an intensity that made his chest squeeze.
“Az,” She whispered into his mouth. His hands lowered from her waist to her hips, thumbs skimming the waistband of her bottoms again.
She couldn’t get enough of him. No matter how much time passed, he drove her absolutely mad. They’d only stopped for air once they absolutely could not breathe anymore, and even then, Azriel didn’t pull too far away, needing to feel her breath on him.
“What has gotten into you today?” She laughed lightly, though definitely not complaining. It was not like him to be so risky, to be so passionate when they weren’t completely alone.
“I just love you,” was all he said.
Tumblr media
Night fell over the Day Court slowly but surely. The day had gone on forever. By the time it was dark enough, some of Helion’s housekeepers started a bonfire and replenished the beach with more food and wine.
She laid down on the blankets again with Azriel beside her, propped up on his elbow and leaning on his side so he was looking directly down at her. Their legs were intertwined and they laughed and spoke softly, a bit away from the rest of the group.
Azriel’s free hand rested on the plane of her soft belly, listening more than he spoke. Of course he was a man of few words, but around her, he enjoyed letting her speak. It was one of his favorite things, learning more and more about the way her brilliant mind worked with the things she said.
With her thoughts, ideas, and opinions, he thought she was incredibly intelligent– the smartest person he knew. He learned so much from her eloquent tongue, adoration filling him from head to toe when she went on her tangents.
The first time she even went on one of her rants in front of him, even before the bond had snapped into place, she was flustered and apologized to Azriel. At the time, she didn’t know Azriel liked her back and dread filled her veins at the idea that she possibly scared him away for good. But he simply shook his head and encouraged her, asking questions and helping her carry the conversation when he felt it start to falter with her hesitation.
They rejoined their friends at some point– he couldn’t remember when, or how long they’d been lost in each other. When she said she wanted to go sit with everyone else for a bit, he agreed. He’d always follow her wherever she led, no questions asked. Back up the beach, up to their room, to the ends of the earth, even.

Young Love and Old Money (Cassian x Female! Reader) Part 5
Young Love and Old Money Masterlist
AN: This definitely should've been two parts...
Summary: She was the most beautiful woman in Prythian, sister to the High Lord of Night, and now she is the soon-to-be wife of Eris Vanserra. Despite her many titles and her aura of unattainability, Cassian can't help but fall deeply in love with the princess of the Night Court. But will it be enough to stop her impending wedding to a man who is sure to destroy her from the inside out?
Warnings: Sexisim, trauma from under the mountain, alcohol, SA, blood, Rhys is sweet but oblivious, autumn court men are pigs, SMUT (mwhahaha),
Word Count: 9,218 (I don't wanna talk about it)
Tumblr media
For about the hundredth time that evening I had given myself the once over. The afternoon had been spent with handmaidens all over me, styling my hair, lining my eyes in kohl, polishing my nails in Autumn Court red, shining the diamond necklace given to me by Eris, and making sure I lived up to my name.
I was surprised by how simple the dress was that was chosen for me. The handmaidens said they wanted to let my natural beauty show, as well as my new collar, I mean necklace. I ran my hands over the large, freshly polished gems. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get used to the weight of it.
I made my way to the foyer where I knew my brother and his Inner Circle would be waiting. Anxiety filled my chest. Tonight I would be dancing and mingling with hundreds of people, but I only cared about one. The man Azriel was currently nudging with his elbow to get him to turn around.
Cassian was lethal in fighting leathers and he was deadly in his most casual clothes, but the jacket and pants he wore tonight? It was a miracle I was still standing upright.
His eyes shot to me and his mouth parted slightly, sucking in a breath. Those eyes, those hazel eyes, how they burned a hole right through my soul. Right through the gown and the jewels and straight into the heart of me. Cassian looked at me the way every female dreamed of being looked at.
“You look amazing sister,” Rhysand said, pulling my attention from Cassian.
I turned to where my brother stood with Mor, who was clad in her usual jaw dropping red. I hadn’t seen my brother in so long. With the war getting closer and things with Eris getting more intense I hadn’t seen him since that initial day at the Autumn Court four weeks ago. While I missed his face, it reminded me of the sacrifices he made for me, and reminded me why marrying Eris was so important.
“You clean up pretty good too, Rhys,” I smiled, pulling him into a tight hug.
“I have something for you,” Rhys grinned, waving a hand in the air to pull a dazzling tiara seemingly from mid air. “I went into the vaults and grabbed this. It was mother’s, and I thought you might like to wear it.”
The tiara was beautiful and the moment it appeared in his hand I recognized it. It was one of our mothers favorites, made to look like a crown of shooting stars flying across her head like a halo. I had forgotten how magnificently she used to dress everyday.
“Oh Rhys,”  I cried, throwing my arms around him while tears welled up in my eyes.
“I know, I miss her too,” he murmured into my shoulder.
“Help me put it on?” I ask him, pulling away and wiping my tears.
“Of course,” he smiled with his own eyes glassed over. He bent down slightly to place the tiara on my head before standing back to admire it. “She would’ve been so proud of you.”
“I think she would’ve been proud of both of us,” I beam at him, rubbing circles over the tops of his hands. “Now enough with the nostalgia, I’m going to cry off all my makeup. Let’s go party.” I laugh off my tears.
“Yeah c’mon Rhys you’re going to make us all sad drunks,” Mor said, clasping her hand in Cassian’s and winnowing them out.
Rhys held my fingers tight as he winnowed us along with her and Azriel was moments behind us. The second that the smell of damp leaves and woodsmoke filled my senses I felt a shudder run down my spine. I told myself that tonight with Eris would be different, but if the last time he had too much wine was any indication of how this evening would go…
The ballroom was filled with members of every court as my brother led me into the large space,  Cassian’s looming presence flanking my right side. It was impressive to see all the different types, colors and textures of clothing. It would make a lovely and chaotic painting if anyone ever had the will to commission it. Of course, Night Court black stood out like a sore thumb, but I certainly didn’t mind. It’s not like my brother and I weren’t the center of attention everywhere we went anyways. I looked to Rhys to find his eyes rapidly scanning the sea of people and I couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle.
“She isn’t here brother,” I said quietly into his ear.
“Who isn’t here?” he asked, trying to play the fool.
“The cursebreaker you’ve been searching the crowd for,” I laugh. “I asked Eris if she would be in attendance and he said that Tamlin and her had not replied to his invitation.”
“You asked Eris for me?” Rhys said, finally turning his head to me in surprise.
“Well I didn’t tell him why I wanted to know whether or not they were attending. I just asked casually. I secretly hoped you’d get to see her,” I smiled.
“You’re a wonderful little sister, you know that?” Rhys smiled, pressing a kiss to my cheek.
“Yeah yeah you big softie,” I laughed, nudging his shoulder. From the corner of my eye I could see Eris making his way through the crowd with two glasses of wine in hand.
“Rhysand, princess, we’re overjoyed that you could make it.” Eris smiled that conniving smile. “For you my little flame,” he said, handing me a goblet of wine and pressing a quick kiss to my lips.
“We’re happy to have been invited,” Rhysand smiles and I swear I hear two females faint somewhere in the room.
“Walk with me darling?” Eris says, extending an arm to me. I take it but not before glancing to my right once to see the worry in Cassian’s eyes.
As we pace around the border of the room I see why Eris chose to promenade first and dance later. It felt like every single eye in the room followed the same pattern. First they widened at the sight of me, then they flicked over to Eris, down to our linked arms and finally back to me once again. Their stares were stifling, I hadn’t been around this many people since under the mountain.
Eris didn’t want to promenade first to finish our drinks, oh no. He wanted everyone in this godsforsaken room to see that the Jewel belonged to him. The smirk on his face was a dead give away.
“You look ravishing tonight little flame,” Eris whispered into my ear, his breath hot in my neck. “That's why they’re all staring.”
“Don’t worry I’m used to the staring,” I replied truthfully trying to avoid all the eyes on me.
“I’m sure you are,” he chuckled. “Stay used to it pet, I have every intention of parading you around all night. Let them stare all they want. It’s only a problem if they touch.”
His words sent ice through my veins. It didn’t matter how many cruel or shocking things Eris said to me. Each and every time they cut like knives, taking a little piece of me with them that I would never get back.
“Is that the Jewel?” crooned a too familiar voice. I turned my head to find Helion standing in all his glory, a friendly smile plastered on his face.
“Helion!” I smiled, embracing him warmly. It had been too long since I felt the warmth of my friend's gaze.
“My dear you look exquisite as always,” he smiled, twirling me around so he could see all of me. “Your brother keeps you on too short a leash, I haven’t seen you since, well, since we were under the mountain.”
Eris’ body tightened next to me as he slid a hand possessively around the small of my waist, pulling me into his side, “Indeed, Helion, but rest assured, she's in good hands now. And her leash is exactly where it needs to be.” His words carried a veiled threat.
“That’s right,” Helion smiled, ever the charmer.  “I heard that Rhysand had finally given her away. Congratulations to the both of you.”
“Oh we aren’t engaged yet, just courting.” I smile nervously, placing my hand on Eris' chest in an attempt to keep him from blowing his top off.
“Yes just courting, for now,” he smirked, nuzzling my neck.
My body might’ve been wrapped around Eris like a lovesick fool, but I let my eyes convey the truth to my friend. Helion looked at me with a sad remorse and I knew then and there that he had put the pieces together.
“I’ll leave you two love birds be,” he said trying to hide his disdain. “I think I hear Thessan calling me.”
We bid our goodbyes and I slammed what was left of my wine and placed it on the side table of the chaise next to us.
“I didn’t think I’d have to share tonight,” Eris rolled his eyes, continuing our walk around the perimeter.
“You can’t court the Jewel and get upset that everyone else wants to as well,” I scoff at his insolence.
“I am going to be High Lord, I can do whatever I want,” Eris seethes, stopping our stride and pulling my arm towards him so that I slam into his chest.
“Eris stop you’re making a scene,” I say tightly trying to pull my wrist from his grasp.
“Good, that's exactly what I want – to cause a scene. Let them look,” he growls, hurling his lips towards mine. His kiss is anything but polite and High Lord-ly and from the strong taste of wine and whiskey on his lips I underestimated how drunk he already was. Behind me I could faintly hear gasps of the people around us, no doubt bearing witness to the very public display of power he was putting on.
He pulls his lips from mine and stares at me with a predatory gaze and as both our chests heave, “Now that’s better,” he smirks.
I resist the urge to wipe my mouth off as I pluck another glass of wine from a silver tray and down it. Gods this night was just getting started and it already couldn’t get any worse.
“I want to dance,” I say abruptly to Eris. If we dance there’s a chance that someone might cut in and save me for at least a minute or two.
“Fine, let’s go.” Eris grumbles downing his wine as well.
He leads me out onto the dance floor and the crowd of dancers parts for us.  For what specific reason? I can’t name why. Maybe it’s to get a good look at me, or maybe it’s because Eris is truly that terrifying. Either way I can’t help but feel like I’ve been placed in a glass box and suspended where the crystal chandelier is in the middle of the room.
Eris leads me into a dance and I don’t miss how tight his grip is on my waist, practically warning off anyone who might try and whisk me away from him. There goes that wonderful plan.
“You’re a wonderful dancer,” Eris complimented me and I noticed him trying to seem more sober.
“Thank you, my father taught me when I was a little girl,” I replied looking around the room.
From the second I had stepped onto the floor I could feel that searing gaze that took me apart bit by bit following me throughout my waltz. Finally I saw Cassian at the edge of the room with Azriel. Both of them leaning against the edge of the wall, wings tight on their bodies to keep people from brushing into them. Azriel whispered something into Cassian’s ear that had him downing his drink.
“I wish you could see the looks of envy around the room,” Eris said low into my ear, his voice carrying an undertone of possessiveness. “Envy of what I have. Envy of what they'll never possess. You've been this mythical thing for so long, and now you're utterly tangible, and more importantly, you're mine.”
“I’m not yours yet, Eris. You would do well to remember that.” I utter to him trying my best to keep my voice even.
Before he can even have a chance to lash out at me, a throat clears next to us halting our movements. I turn my gaze from Eris' fiery gaze and find Cassian standing before us and I curse my heart from nearly leaping out of my chest at the way he’s staring Eris down, like he heard every word he said.
“Princess, would you honor me with a dance?” Cassian said, his usual tone of confidence laced with uncertainty.
“I would love to Cassian,” I smile, feeling my cheeks blush.
“Over my dead body would she dance with the likes of you,” Eris simmers, pulling me closer to him. His grip on my arm was like a brand.
“No, you don’t get to speak for her,” Cassian growls, grasping the hand Eris has on me.
“Eris this isn’t very High Lord-ish behavior,” I grumbled under my breath feeling even more eyes find our little disagreement.
“He’s a bastard pet, he would soil you.” Eris replies, trying his best to show his restraint as he and Cassian engage in the biggest staredown this court has ever seen.
“Yes, a bastard with nothing to lose and a dance with the Jewel to gain. Remember what I said about that arm Prince Eris? It would be a pity if you couldn’t hunt next season,” Cassain said back, his words a not so veiled threat.
“One dance,” Eris chides. “Then I want her returned to me.” He dips a hand under my chin to place a kiss on  my lips, no doubt trying to antagonize Cassian further.
If Cassian is provoked by the gesture he doesn’t show it. He simply sweeps me up into a dance the second the next song starts. His arms around me contrast the feeling of Eris so well. They’re warm and strong compared to Eris, who has a touch so cold it could freeze over hell. I take a deep breath to ground myself, Cassian’s scent of cedar and leather fills my senses and puts me at ease.
“I’m sorry if I caused you any trouble,” he said and I could tell he meant it. He probably assumed that Eris would behave more accordingly in such a public setting.
“No you actually saved me,” I laughed, falling easily into step with him.
“You look beautiful tonight, I don’t think I got a chance to tell you that earlier,” Cassian said tightly, like the words might hurt him. The tension in the air following what happened with Eris still thick.
“No I don’t think you did,” I replied and mentally cursed myself at how dumb it sounded. I get compliments all the time, and I always respond with grace and poise like I was taught. But something about Cassian takes away every piece of training away from me, for a moment I’m just a regular person.
“Then I’m a fool and I should’ve said it sooner,” he replied, spinning me out and pulling me back in. I was surprised by how well he moved on the dance floor.
“I didn’t know you could dance,” I smile and his eyes that were previously on his feet now meet mine.
“I can’t. I had Mor teach me this one so I could dance with you at least once tonight. That’s why I’ve been so short with you, I’m counting my steps,” Cassian laughs, blush tinting his cheeks. “Once this song is over Az is going to cut in so I don’t have to face the embarrassment of trying to dance to whatever they play next.”
It takes me a minute to process all that he’s said, and as I’m trying to read his face to see if he’s telling the truth or not I can see his lips twitching as he counts his steps in his head. A smile breaks across my lips and I can’t help but laugh.
“Oh Cassian,” I giggle, pressing my forehead into his shoulder. His arms immediately pull me close and I relish the feeling. “No one’s ever done anything like that for me before. Thank you.”
“Of course, anything for you princess,” he smiles and for a moment I’m transported back into that dark hallway. I suddenly become all too aware of our joined hands, his hand on my waist flexing like he’s scared to have it there.
“You’re actually a really wonderful dancer,” I laugh trying to keep myself from throwing myself at him.
Cassian’s mouth turns up to the side as his eyes burn into mine, “one, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three.” he counts. I let out another laugh as we continue to spin around the room, he even throws in a lift every now and then when he forgets the steps.
The song is over all too soon and within seconds of the last note being played Azriel steps in with a gracious bow.
“Princess,” the shadowsinger greets me.
“Azriel,” I curtsey.
“Thanks brother,” Cassian smiles, clapping Azriel on the back before heading out.
“Don’t mention it,” Az nods, taking me in his arms and beginning to waltz me around. “Did he tell you?”
“Yes he did,” I laugh remembering the blush that covered his cheeks when he did. Never in my life did I think I would see my general, The Lord of Bloodshed, blush. “Have you been practicing with Mor too?” I raise an eyebrow.
“No actually,” Azriel says, spinning me around in a circle. “Dancing has always come quite naturally to me.”
“Well I’d even dare to say that you’re a better dance partner than Eris,” I smile as Azriel dips me with the grace that only a warrior could possess.
“Speaking of Eris, I saw what happened. Are you okay?” Azriel asks quietly, pulling me closer so that no one can hear us.
“As okay as I can be. Gods everything about this room is stifling.” I roll my eyes.
“Would you like to get some air outside?” he asks me and I nod.
Azriel leads me out to the terrace at the back of the ballroom. When we get there I expect to see at least one couple sticking their tongues down each other's throats. But when the chill night air hits my bare skin it’s easy to see why we’re the only ones out here. I lean my back against the railing as Azriel closes the wooden doors behind us, the sound of the symphony and chattering people becoming muffled.
Az pulls a corked bottle of wine out from behind his back with a cheeky grin, “You looked like you might need this.” he says pulling out the cork with a pop.
“You’re a literal savior Az,” I smile, taking the bottle from him and putting it to my lips. It was the same wine I complimented Beron on and it slid down all too easy.
Azriel leans against the banister with me as we look out over the Autumn Court. Darkness envelops the land  so that the only thing to be seen are a few fae lights and of course, the stars. I smile at the sky for a moment. No matter where I go or whom I marry, night will always follow me, and there’s a comfort there.
“So you’re really going through with this?” Azriel croons, his voice laced only with curiosity.
“I am,” I nod, swigging from the bottle again. “Eris is a viper, but he has something we need. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep my people and my family safe.”
“You deserve to marry for love y/n. You deserve to be happy too. You think that Rhys is the only one who made sacrifices for you and our court but you went under that mountain too.” he points out using that big brother tone he loves to use so much.
“Saving my court will make me happy.”
“But is marrying Eris what you truly want?” he asks honestly, trying to get to the root of things. So I let him have it.
“Gods no Az. Look at me. Eris has already made me his little pet with this ridiculous necklace. I  don’t think I could ever love Eris or be truly happy with him. But he’s been very clear about me bearing him many children, maybe I’ll find my happiness in them,” I rant, chugging more wine trying to drown out the sound of the voices in my head.
“What about Cassian?” Azriel asks and my heart nearly stops. I don’t even let myself breathe for a moment.
“What about him, Azriel?” I sigh, turning around and pressing my back to the bannister so that I could see the wooden doors that lead back to the viper den of aristocrats.
“You obviously have feelings for him,” Azriel scoffs like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
“What makes you say that?” I laugh. Azriel is dangerously close to covering the truth, one I haven’t had the guts to admit to myself. Because saying the words out loud? They would crumble the very foundations I stand upon, and then what would be left?
“Because I’ve seen the way you look at him.”
“And how do I look at him? Huh?” I try to keep the fierce facade.
“You look at him the same way every man, woman, and child looks at you.” Azriel blurts out, his voice laced with frustration. “Hell even I used to look at you that way till I realized I couldn’t hold a candle to the way you look at Cassian.”
I crumble. Every thought I have falls apart at Azriel making such a statement because I know it’s true. But to acknowledge it, or even worse, to act on it? How selfish of a person would that make me? To turn my back on my brother who saved me under the mountain. To possibly deny him the chance to be with his mate, the cursebreaker, because he dies in battle. To risk Azriel’s life because he has to be on the front lines. To risk the lives of every man, woman and child in my court.
I had thought about it, gods I had. Especially at night, when I woke from my nightmares of being under the mountain. Or when I dreamt of that small female puppy in Eris’ kennels. It would’ve been so easy for me to walk into Cassian’s room just one door down and ask him to hold me. Oh gods I wanted him to hold me. But it couldn’t be and that killed me.
“You’re bold shadowsinger,” I gritted my teeth, sipping the last of the wine. “I’ll give you that. But if you’ll excuse me, Eris is probably looking for me.”
I shove the empty bottle of wine into his chest and thrust open the doors. I hear him call out for me clearly feeling bad about what he had said, but I don’t turn back. Tears prick my cheeks and I know that if I face Azriel once more and show him the truth I’ll fall apart completely.
My eyes scan the crowd for Eris, and admittedly Cassain. The latter is nowhere to be seen, but eventually I find Eris lounging on a chaise with a few of his friends, all of them clad in Autumn Court attire laughing boisterously. I walk over to him dodging everyone in front of me, wine clouding my mind.
“There she is,” Eris slurs, the wine from 4his glass nearly spilling out as he sits it on an end table. “Come here my pet,” he smirks, pulling me down to sit on his lap.
I grab the wine he set down and sip from it as I take in the men around us. At first glance I can tell they are all pompous assholes by the way they rake their gaze down my body. One even has the nerve to cock his eyebrow at me and my head turns to Eris to avoid his gaze.
“Isn’t she exquisite gentlemen?” Eris asks, nuzzling my neck.
A collective murmur of agreement falls upon the small group.
 “The Jewel of Prythian,” Eris says, kissing my neck and I try to squirm out of his grasp but he only pulls me closer to him.
“I’ll say!” one of the men cheer causing the whole group to chuckle.
Eris’ mouth falls from my neck to my collar bone, “Have I told you yet tonight that this corset is doing wonders for your perfect tits pet?” he murmurs licking a long stripe up the side of my neck earning a round of tantalizing ‘ohhhs’ from his friends. At this rate I’m surprised they all haven’t whipped their cocks to enjoy the show Eris was so happily putting on.
“He’s not wrong,” says another man and I feel Eris smirk against the tops of my breasts. He’s enjoying the game of dangling me in front of his friends. A forbidden fruit only he can indulge in.
“I wonder how many males have fucked those tits,” crooned another bringing laughter to the forefront once more.
Eris laughs, “She’s completely untouched,” he smirks into my skin. “I’ll be the first.”
The men utter how impressed they are. Some mention how jealous they are. My heart rate quickens knowing that I couldn’t have walked into a worse situation.
“Eris,” I hiss quietly, my eyes scanning the room for Cassian but he’s nowhere to be seen still. I even look for Azriel or my brother, but the room is so packed full of people I can’t make anyone out.
“You know I was thinking about what you said earlier,” Eris croons and I know that tone, the one that means something terrible is about to happen. “When you said I don’t own you yet?”
“Eris stop you’re drunk,” I say low as I try to wiggle out of his grasp but it only instigates him more.
“Well the idea that you weren’t truly mine yet based on a technicality didn’t sit right with me little flame,” he started, blatantly ignoring my protests. “So while I let you dance with your filthy dog I ran downstairs to the vault.”
No, no, no, no. This isn’t happening.
“And I grabbed this,” he says, pulling out a ring so large I was surprised he was able to keep it hidden. Eris grabbed my left hand with unnecessary force and slid the thing on my ring finger. The weight of it nearly made me hurl. “Now you are mine. I’ve lived up to my end of the bargain, it’s been a month of courting and I’ve decided you will make a very obedient and agreeable wife.”
“And don’t forget fuckable!” the first man who spoke cheered.
“Yes, I’ll enjoy ruining you, my pet,” Eris smirks, kissing me softly.
“Hell yeah we need an heir!”
These men know no morals, no shame, no compassion. If my brother heard a fraction of what they were saying…Yes, my brother. Gods he probably heard so much worse with Amarantha.
“I can promise you all that an heir will be in her belly within a month,” Eris announced to his cadre, earning cheers from them all as they drank from their cups.
I knew it was coming. I think in my heart I always did. From the moment I met Eris he had never once given me any indication that he wouldn’t marry me. Hell even if he hated me it was evident that he had every intention of marrying me just so he could say he deflowered and owned the Jewel of Prythian. I knew all of this and yet I still felt blindsided.
“What do you say pet? Shall we start trying now?” Eris croons, earning another rally from his companions.
“Eris that’s enough,” I grunt, pushing him off for good this time. The men around us laugh at my reluctance as I stand to my feet.
“You little!” Eris seethe standing up right after me and gripping my arm.
“Bend her over your knee and spank her Eris!” drunkenly laughed a man.
“You touch me right now and our marriage will be void by the laws of your court!” I growl, reminding him.
“I am the High Lord, I'll change them myself!” he growls at me.
“Not yet you aren’t,” I scorn him, nothing short of murder in my eyes. “I will see you in three days time to begin planning the wedding. I expect you to be sober and act with the morals befitting of a future High Lord.”
I free my arm from his grasp, leaving him to contend with the embarrassment of failing to control his future wife in front of his companions. I rip off the engagement ring and pocket it, unable to stand the weight of it. My eyes dart around for Cassian and when I don’t find him I grab a bottle of wine from one of the unattended tables. I make my way to the front door, choosing to walk all the way back to the Night Court if necessary. As I reach for the door it’s pulled back by the other side revealing a very disheveled Cassian.
“There you are, I was looking for you,” I grumble, still agitated from Eris’ antics.
“You look upset, what happened?” he slurs slightly.
“Are you drunk?” I ask tapping my foot in the still half open doorway.
“Yes, but you didn’t answer my question, what the hell happened?” Cassian grumbled straightening up and pushing the fog from his brain.
“Eris happened,” I complained, gesturing to where he sat laughing with his companions again. “He was just showing me off and talking about making an heir and all that shit. It doesn’t matter. I stole some wine, let's go.” I huff starting to move past him.
“No that’s it, I’m going to fucking kill him.” Cassian seethes and begins to move past me, but I place a hand on him stopping him.
“No stop,” I protest standing in front of him, but he doesn’t take his eyes off Eris. “I’ve had enough drama for one night. Please just take me home.”
Cassian doesn’t take his gaze off the future High Lord, his breathing picking up, the siphons he had on his hands glowing.
“Cassian,” I whisper, his name for only him to hear. His gaze falls to mine and softens. “Take me home.” I plead.
 His eyes go soft at my pleas and I see him come back to earth, “Let’s go,” he says leading me out the door.
We step out into the night air and waltz down the steps. Each and every step that we take pulls me further away from that cursed room, and as the sound of music and chatter get even further away I start to feel myself relax more. Cassian’s presence is like an anchor that keeps my feet on the ground. I am  comfortable. I am safe.
 We reach the bottom of the long stairway, and Cassian stops in his tracks. I turn to find him looking a little shocked, like he just remembered something.
“What is it?” I ask taking a step towards him.
“I uh,” he stumbles over his words. “I got you something.”
 He turns around to a large potted plant at the base of the long steps leading up to the ballroom. His large form bends down to pick up something that’s behind it and when he emerges once more he holds a puppy in his arms. I can’t help but gasp as the puppy wiggles to life, looking comically small in the Illyrians arms. I set down the stolen bottle of wine so that I can see her.
“I might’ve gotten a little drunk and broken into Eris’ kennels to get her,” he laughs passing her into my arms. “You just loved her so much and you kept talking about her and… I just couldn’t leave her.”
The puppy wiggled in my arms licking my face like she had remembered me from our first meeting. I know I would know her face and markings anywhere.
“Oh Cassian you have no idea how much this means to me,” I beam tears gracing my eyes.
“I figured we could find her a better home, somewhere she will be loved,” Cassain smiled.
It that moment I don’t think I could’ve ever loved him more. I looked up to see him watching the puppy wiggling in my arms. Everything about him was so beautiful, from his sharp jawline to the tendrils of hair that had fallen out of his low bun. I couldn’t help myself. I stood on my tip toes and pressed a loving kiss to his cheek.
“Thank you Cassain,” I smile at him as I watch that blush return to his cheeks.
“Anything for you princess,” he reminds me. “Now we really have to get going before someone figures out I stole that thing.” Cassian laughs picking up the bottle of wine and then me.
We take off into the air and I can’t help but let out a laugh at how ridiculous this all looks. A general, his princess, a stolen puppy and a stolen bottle of wine making a beeline for the Night Court.
Tumblr media
Cassian and I land on the terrace of the House of Wind in a fit of laughter recalling stories of his and my brother's adolescent lives.
“I couldn’t help myself, he was some prick in his new training clothes and I was a kid with nothing. He deserved to get a little beat up!” Cassian laughed, the most real one I had ever heard from him.
“He probably deserved it. Rhys is terrible at first impressions,” I giggle thinking of how haughty my young brother used to be.
Cassian opens the door to the kitchen and living room letting us both in. The house is dark save for a few fae lights over the kitchen island. I wasn’t sure where the shadowsinger was, but whatever lady he was entertaining was certainly a lucky one. The puppy had fallen asleep in my arms on the flight home, so I set her adorable self down on one of the many plush couches. The entire time I felt Cassian’s eyes watching me intensely.
“My buzz is starting to wear off,” I smile, turning from the pup and walking past Cassian and into the kitchen. “Let’s have a nightcap before we go to bed.”
I pull out my brothers expensive whiskey and a couple of glasses. I wait for Cassian to say something, anything, but he stays silent. The only indication that he’s still there are the raised hairs on my neck indicating that he’s watching the back of my head as I start to pour myself a glass.
“Single or double?” I ask him, my hands holding his glass and the decanter of whiskey.
I wait for a response, but the silence that seeps from him fills the room with an unexplainable tension. I’m suddenly all too aware of the lack of heat in the room as the hair on my arms rises and oh gods I can feel him. His presence behind me.
The sound of cool, calculated and slow footsteps echo off the walls of the room and suddenly he’s there behind me. His heat radiates towards me and I don’t dare turn around. His fingertips graze the backs of my elbows, letting me know he’s there.
“Y/n,” his voice is like a prayer as his hands dance around the backs of my arms. My breath hitches at the utterance of my name, he never calls me by my name and the sound of it on his lips makes my toes curl.
I  slowly turn from the kitchen island and I’m met with a wall of pure muscle. I crane my head up to meet his intense gaze, and his eyes say everything. They pierce right through me. I rest my hands on his forearms letting the feel of the fabric over them ground me but it doesn’t help. He’s too close, and he’s too warm and he’s everything.
“Cassian,” I whisper for only him to hear.
I press a hand to his chest feeling his heartbeat beneath his shirt finding that it’s beating just as wildly as mine. My eyes meet his again and there’s a pleading there, like he might be suffering and I’m the only one who can end it.
“Kiss me,” I breathe.
His hand sweeps under my chin pulling his lips on mine and I suddenly realize why the romance novels I’ve read describe it as earth shattering. Cassian’s hands fall to my waist and I feel like I’m on fire everywhere his body meets mine. His lips feel like heaven against my own, nothing like the way  Eris kisses me. No, Cassian kisses me like he might love me. My hands grip his shirt and pull him closer.
I feel his fingers slide down my waist and beneath my thighs. He hoists me up, dress skirts and all, onto the counter and I suddenly have much better access to him. His mouth wanders down my neck leaving wet kisses all over me. I place a hand behind me to get more support and the empty whiskey glass shatters on the tile floor.
The large necklace Eris gave me gets in the way of his kisses and I feel my blood boil for a moment. How could I belong to Eris when Cassian kisses me like this?  When he holds me like I’m his everything?
I capture my lips in Cassian’s once more pulling him away from my neck. His mouth is warm and soft on mine. My fingers find the front of the ridiculous necklace and I tear it off, the sound of the clasp breaking reverberating through the house. Cassian growls and presses his hips further between my legs, my hand slaps on the granite counter for support, the gems of the necklace clattering with it. I release it so that my hands can fly to the buttons on his shirt. The growl that had come from his lips had changed something in me. I needed him now, and I needed all of him.
“Cassian,” I pleaded. The name rolls off my tongue with such ease. His hands roam my body and all I can think about is how I need more. More, more, more, more.
I get the top half of his shirt unbuttoned and I let my fingers roam the bare skin that lies there. He’s warm against my chilled hands, and as my fingertips brush over a long scar I can’t help but want to feel all of him. Know all of him.
“Stop, stop,” Cassian mutters, taking my hands in his and pulling them away from his chest.
My mind immediately starts to panic as he backs away from me. What have I done? I’ve ruined everything. I try to meet Cassian’s eyes from a few feet away but he won’t look at me. Instead he looks at his hands, like they’re covered in blood.
“I can’t. I can’t do this,” he mutters still out of breath.
My heart shatters. I had dreamed of kissing Cassian, of having him hold me like he was just seconds ago. Never did any of those dreams end the way this one is now.
“Cassian I-”
“I’m not worthy,” he breathes, never taking his eyes off his hands. “I’m not worthy of you.”
My already shattered heart shatters again.
I slide off the counter taking slow steps towards him waiting for him to flinch or move away but he doesn’t. I reach him placing a hand on the cheek feeling the stubble there, and despite his words I swore he leaned into my touch ever so slightly. My thumb caresses  his face, begging his eyes to meet  mine and they do. In that beautiful shade of hazel there’s a sorrow by likes of which I’ve never seen.
“Then show me every part of you that feels unworthy of my love and let me kiss it until it knows nothing but it,” I say to him, praying he hears every single word. His eyes soften.
“Y/n,” he breathes pulling my lips to his once more and I swear right then and there that I’d do anything that man asked me if he just said my name like that again.
My arms wrap around his neck pulling him down towards where I stand on my tiptoes to reach him. Somehow this kiss is more passionate, on both ends as I try to live up to what I’ve told him. His hands hoisted me up again, even though the skirt of my dress was debilitating.
I feel myself being carried down the hall into a room I realize is his from this scent enveloping me from every angle. He sets me down gently, like I might break and kicks the door behind him closed. My hands find the last buttons on his shirt and I get them off with ease, my next course of action has me reaching around my back to tug at the strings of the corseted dress. I get the tie undone, but the rest is tricky.
“Wait, stop,” Cassian orders, tilting my chin up to meet his gaze. “Are you sure you want this? Because once I start I won’t be able to stop.”
“I want this, I want all of you Cassian.” I nod still breathless and his eyes search mine for any hint of a lie. “Please,” I beg and I watch all resolve fall from his face.
“Fuck y/n,” he moans before pressing his lips to mine.
My hands find the bare muscles of his chest, and try to commit every line and scar to memory. I run my hands all over him, the warmth and feel of him addicting. My fingers fall lower over his abs and I swear I melt at the years of building muscle there.
“Fuck,” he hisses. “You can’t touch me like that.” he growls using his hands on my hips to spin me around so my back is flush to him.
His lips find my neck and I swear I could fall apart just by the way his mouth feels on my skin. I feel the laces on my dress get looser and looser as his fingers work them apart behind me. The second the top one is loose enough the weight of the skirt pulls the top down leaving me completely bare. My breath hitches as I feel his calloused fingers gently coaxing me to turn around and face him. The second I do my cheeks flush and I fight the urge to cover myself.
“You’re so beautiful. I wish I knew a better way to say it than that. You are-” he loses his words, pulling me closer so my breasts are pressed to the bare skin of his chest. The feeling is euphoric. “You are everything.” he says, and it feels more like a confession.
He leans in to kiss me once more but I press my hand to his cheek to stop him, “Cassian,” I breathe and I feel his breath hitch at the way I say his name. “I love you.” the phrase echoes through the room.
I feel his body tense pulling me impossibly close. “Now I’m never letting you go,” he mutters, pressing his lips to mine in a fiery need.
His hands hoist me up and I wrap my arms around his shoulders for support. My aching core brushes against his abs and it takes all my self control not to shift my hips to get more friction there. He lays me gently on his bed, and I feel my back sink into his mountains of pillows. His clothed hips settle between mine and he pulls his head back to look at me.
“I’ve loved you ever since I met you. We had just barely become adults and I walked into the townhouse for the first time and saw you reading a book by the fire and I knew,” he confessed. “I knew I loved you before I even knew your name.”
I couldn’t stop the rogue tear that slipped from my eye at his confession. Cassian’s lips kissed the drop away before pressing his lips to mine once more. My hands threaded to his hair as he made his way down my neck leaving a trail of fire everywhere his lips brushed.
“Can I touch you?” Cassian breathed against the valley between my breasts.
“Yes,” I hiss needing him everywhere.
His lips attach themselves to the aching bud of my breast, pulling it taut. I gasp, arching my back off the bed watching him roll my nipple in his mouth. His other hand reaches to twist my other breast and I swear I’ve never felt so good in my life. My hands find his long hair and tug on it, earning a groan from him that sends vibrations through me. He switches to the other side giving it the same treatment and oh gods, this man would certainly be the death of me. His lips come off my breast with a pop as he takes in the sight of me.
“You’re perfect,” he says, pressing a kiss between my breasts once more.
“I want you inside me,” I groan, pressing my hips into him.
“No I’ll hurt you,” he grits, feeling my arousal press against him as he leaves kisses on my stomach.
“Cassian please,” I cry, tears threatening to fall from the sheer need I have for him. His eyes meet mine and I know I have him right where I want him.
“It’s going to hurt y/n,” he tells me.
“I don’t care,” I say, leaning up a bit to cup his face bringing his lips to mine in a quick kiss. “When I said I want all of you Cassian I meant it. You said you’d do anything for me.”
“Fuck y/n, okay but I’m going to get you ready first,” he groans and before he can pull away I press a kiss to his forehead.
His lips trail down my stomach once more until he gets to where I need him most. He skips over my core to leave kisses on the inside of my thighs. My body goes limp and I fall into the pillows again craning my neck to see him. A hand slides up my thigh and runs through my folds causing me to arch my back.
“You’re so wet,” he grits out feeling the pool of arousal between my legs.
“Cass please,” I whine, arching my hips to his mouth.
I watch his eyes flair at the nickname and within moments his mouth is on me licking a stripe up my core that has me letting out an unnatural sound of pleasure. His tongue swirls around my entrance before licking another long stripe through my folds once more, flicking his tongue at the top. He attacks an area between my legs that has me arching off the bed and seeing stars. Surely there could be no better pleasure in the world than this. I let out a guttural moan that has Cassian smirking from where he feasts on me, his eyes lighting up in male pride.
“Oh gods Cassian! How are you-ah!” I cry out feeling tears prick my eyes from the waves of euphoria gliding through my body, like every nerve was being caressed by his hands all at once.
“It’s your clit y/n,” Cassian smirks. “Surely all those naughty romance books taught you about your own anatomy?”  he teases rubbing circles on the bud with his fingers.
“No I think they- Ah! They might’ve glazed over that part.” I cry out trying to keep my  back from arching off the bed.
“Then allow me to enlighten you,” he grinned before feasting on me once more.
The feeling of his mouth on me had me reaching for something to grasp onto, something to ground me. Cassian must’ve noticed as seconds later I felt his rough hand grasp mine holding it tightly. His other drifted from my hip and I felt him sink a long finger into me slowly but surely. The new sensation had my heartrate picking  up even more. It skyrocketed as he started pumping it in and out of me until he added another. The knot in my stomach started to build and I could feel my body pulling closer to the edge.
“Cassian I’m going to- OH GODS!”
I didn’t even have time to finish the sentence before I was falling over the edge, all over him. He rode me through my orgasm before pressing a kiss to my clit.
“You taste fucking amazing,” he says, voice deep and husky. If he had spoken to me like that in a setting where my clothes weren’t already on his bedroom floor I would’ve ripped them off just the same.
“I do?” I laugh, cocking an eyebrow at him.
“Yeah you do,” he smiles moving up towards me. “Come here,” he says, pressing his lips to mine.
I savor the taste of him and well, me. It’s new, and I can tell by the way his hand is ripping down his pants that he finds it just as arousing as I do. I glance down to where his aching cock springs free and it takes everything in me not to gasp at the size of it. His hand tilts my chin up to press another quick kiss to my lips.
“Forget what I said earlier. The second you want to stop, just say the word.” he tells me.
“No, I want this. I want you to be my first,” I assure him and I swear I feel his cock twitch against my thigh at my words.
“Okay I’m gonna put it in, if it hurts just tell me okay princess?” he says, pressing a kiss to my brow. I nearly shudder at him calling me princess again, but this time it’s different, it doesn’t feel like a title, it feels like a loving name.
“I will,” I nod to him.
I watch as he guides his cock to my entrance, getting it slick with the aftermath of the orgasm he just pulled from me. I feel him sink in a bit and I start to feel the stretch. I focus my eyes on Cassain’s face. His brow is furrowed as he watches himself start to sink into me.  He pushes in further and the stretch starts to burn causing me to take in a sharp breath.
“Shhh baby,” he coos, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “You’re doing so good.”
“Keep going Cass,” I breathe out as tears prick my eyes.
He pushes in further and somehow even the pain feels good, because it’s him. Every single inch of him is flush to me and it still isn’t enough. It takes a moment but eventually his hips are brushing up to mine and he’s fully seated inside me, and gods, the feeling of being so full is the best feeling I’ve ever known.
CASSIAN’S POV:
As my cock finally sinks into her it takes everything in me not to pull out and slam back in. I curse myself for even thinking such a thought knowing how badly I would hurt her.
All the while I give her time to adjust her pussy flexes and clenches around my cock and godsshe’s so fucking tight. Sweat coats my brow and my muscles quake with the need to start moving but I won’t do it until she asks me.
“Okay move Cass, I’m ready,” she whispers, pressing a kiss to my lips.
Cass
Gods hearing her speak to me so informally shouldn’t make my heart beat so fast but it does.
 I pull out a little before slowly pushing back in, relishing the feeling of how warm she is around me. I look down at her to look for any signs of discomfort on her face. Her eyes are closed, mouth slightly open, and the little pants falling from those perfect lips are enough to send me into a coma. I begin to build a steady pace once I feel she can take it and as I do those little pants turn into cries and I swear I could cum right there.
“Fuck you’re so tight,” I groan into her neck.
She lets out another moan and I can’t help but smirk knowing what my words do to her. My eyes glance at her face as I fuck into her. Her hair sprawled out all over the pillows, her eyes closed, the look of pure pleasure on her face. I press my lips to hers unable to stop myself, not when I’ve dreamt of doing so for so long.
Fuck how many times have I dreamt of her writhing in pleasure beneath me? The feel of her delicate hands wandering my skin? My name falling from those perfect lips? I couldn’t stop the words from falling from my mouth.
“Gods I love you so much y/n,” I say pressing my forehead to hers.
“I love you too Cassian,” she breathes and I watch as another tear falls from her face. I bring my lips down to kiss it away, and in that moment I vow that I’ll kiss her tears away till they bury me in the ground.
Her pussy clenches around me again as I thrust into her and I can tell by the way her finger nails are digging into my shoulders that she’s close.
“Let go for me princess,” I murmur through ragged breaths pressing a kiss to her forehead.
“CASSIAN!” she screams cumming all over my cock.
It’s enough to drive me over the edge with her, “Fuck y/n,” I moan as I thrust into her one last time watching her beautiful face come undone for me before I cum inside her.
Snap.
My eyes go wide and I’m thankful that she’s still too blissed out to notice as I feel that thread inside me that connects me to her.
Mate.
All this time, she was my mate. The reason I fell in love with her the moment I saw her, the reason I couldn’t stay away from her. The princess was my mate. Her words from earlier continued to echo through my head…
Show me every part of you that feels unworthy of my love and let me kiss it until it knows nothing but it…
I searched her face for any sign that she felt the bond snap too, but all I saw was her beaming up at me. Gods she was so beautiful. My mate was so beautiful.
I reached for the other end of that shining golden thread and found nothing there.
She didn’t know.

Inhuman (Adrian Tepes | Alucard)
Tumblr media
TAGS: Alucard/Dragoness!reader, alternate universe, pining, sex pollen, morning after, breeding, impregnation, smut, oneshot Ao3 ver. | Ko-fi | Commissions (OPEN)
Darkness is something many feared for it brought about horrors both real and imaginary to life. The cover of night hid that which screeched at the light of day and yet there is a certain stillness and calm found in the dark.
Adrian never felt that the dark was something to be afraid of, but rather a hidden peace and tranquility when one decides to walk about during the twilight hours.
All is still until a flash of bright light illuminated the landscape, revealing everything which once hid within the blanket of night for barely a second before gradually fading away.
Normally, the dhampir would have chalked it up as yet another one of nature’s great mysteries before trying to see for himself what caused it. Blame his loving parents who naturally nurtured his inquisitive nature.
However, before he could even step another foot forward he saw something falling from the sky and as it got closer to the ground, his eyes perceived an unmistakably human form.
He didn’t need to think for another second as his body rocketed upwards in a great leap, lean yet toned arms grasping the surprisingly soft and tiny figure. As the air whipped around him during his descent, he took his first good look as to who or what he decided to save in the first place.
The blonde’s eyes widened, breath hitching in his throat as he beheld what could only be an angel, a being of pure light within his embrace.
Your silken ivory hair crowns your head and drapes over your heart-shaped face gracefully, petal-like lips which gleamed with a soft pink sheen, eyelashes like lush crescents that seem to teasingly hide what he could only imagine to be the most beautiful jeweled orbs in the world, and a spattering of silvery-white scales that travel from said cheeks down to your neck and the rest of your body hidden beneath your bodice.
You are clearly inhuman.
And yet, never has Adrian felt more human than he did right now especially as your eyes flutter open and meet with his own mesmerized pair.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“...make sure to grind them thoroughly, my dear. They have to be a fine paste before we can proceed with the next step”
“Okay, Miss Lisa. I’ll do my best!”
“Feel free to just call me mother. I’ve seen you as a daughter from the moment my son brought you into our home and since my husband hasn’t given me any daughters...you’re the next best thing and I honestly couldn’t be any more grateful for your arrival in our lives.”
Hidden behind a tall shelf lined with various tomes and scrolls, the young man couldn’t help but take peeks at the two most important women in his life as they bonded with one another. His mother so easily took you under her wing when he brought you here and you weren’t averse to the motherly affections she directed at you.
Now if he could only be as forthright with his feelings as his mother and express himself to you, because you were clearly as dense as a rock and didn’t pick up any of the subtle hints he gave you about his intentions...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“If you’re really okay with someone like me...then please use me as much as you like,” with a red blush highlighting your soft cheeks, you try not to look at the flushed and heavily panting Adrian pinning you down upon his bed.
The dhampir had accidentally inhaled the pollen of some new plant you both came across while partaking in your regular walks together. It took effect immediately, the normally calm and composed blonde becoming so flustered and heated that you’d think he was running a fever with how much sweat dripped down his face.
The raging erection which tented at the front of his trousers told you everything you needed to know, however.
Even if it was only to help him, you don’t regret giving yourself to Adrian because you love him. Even after the effects wear off, you hope that you’ll still stay friends because you’ve grown to love this castle and all its wonders. But especially its inhabitants—
“While I would have preferred to put a ring on you first, I’m afraid that I’m at my limit...but I promise to properly wed you after this, my love.”
The night is a blur by the time you wake up the morning after. Hazy memories of soft and firm touches, wet and deep kisses, harsh grunts and pitiful mewls, and nails scratching against the skin of his toned back as your tight cunt is forced open by his lengthy cock. You don’t remember how many rounds you went last night, having lost count of the amount of times you felt him spraying his seed deep inside of you and how you oh so shamelessly tightened even further each time he painted your walls white.
“We must inform mother and father once they return from their little trip. I’m sure they’ll be thrilled at the news of our union...though perhaps I might be scolded for taking you to bed before the actual wedding…” Adrian chuckled, messy strands of blonde hair tumbling down his chest as he gazed down at you with his head propped up by his hand, all the while you seemed to have been using his chest as a pillow the whole time you were sleeping.
“A-Adrian…!” You squeak and sputter at his joke, blushing all the way to the tips of your ears which only seems to ignite the flames within the dhampir once more as he rolls himself on top of you.
“If you truly insist on seducing me yet again...I suppose it is simply a husband’s duty to satisfy his wife”

The russian worker drones family; murder drone's greatest small scale tragedy.
As long as I can recall there has never been in my mind a story quite as painful and heartbreaking and yet quite as engaging as the tragedy of Doll, Yeva, and her husband, who's lack of a clear name doesn't detract from the impact of this story or the death of the other two.
The last time such an emotional impact was left in my brain was with Noximilliem Coxen the Watchmaker from Wakfu, who I will assuredly make a comparison post with Doll, as they both hit extremely similar themes and ideas while still having such different execution and story beats that it almost makes you question why would you even compare them in the first place.
Tragedy is deceptively hard to write right and make meaningful, as just crippling your characters won't do, because at that point it just becomes drama porn and as boring as a low effort pre-schoolers program. Seemingly unfeasible in a show such as Murder Drones; an horror/comedy/romance where an abused child repaired and made friends with a robot only for said robot to cause the destruction of her planet and... something else.
Buckle up cause these robots emotions might not even be considered real inside the fictional setting but our pain allows what would otherwise be a pretty standard horror scenario to transcend into the bane of my existence as we take a look at the small, inconsequential tale of the russian worker drones family.
Yeva
Tumblr media
Starting off with Yeva as the oldest member of our family in terms of chronological relevance, we get our first peek into the way this story plays out due to Yeva being seemingly mute by choice or programming, which retroactively sets up the storytelling method used; Yeva doesn't speak a single word in this scene or the one that precedes it, but we still get a clear rendition of her character by her standoffish behaviour juxtaposed with her caring and nurturing nature, it's debatable whether or not her and Nori are sisters, but you wouldn't be blamed for thinking that judging by the way Yeva tends to Nori after the banishment of the solver, being chained up and experimented upon didn't stop her from staying positive in the midst of adversity and could theoretically be the reason why she was the only correctly patched drone in the facility.
During the V attack she sacrificed her own life in order to protect Doll. An act that, in the long run, ended up being whortless, but that cemented Yeva has an unyielding positive influence in a world stormed by negativity and death.
The father
Tumblr media
We know jack s##t about this man but that won't stop us from analysing him. The most interesting things about him are his relationship with Yeva and the fact that the picture of V seen in episode 2 was made by him. He's, admittedly, a white canvas for head cannons, but thematically he keeps a recurring motif that this post will touch upon in his final entry:
Doll
Tumblr media
And now, for the crown jewel of this family. The protagonist's dark reflection. Not many people can claim to have been messed up as hard as Doll was. Sure, death is still death, but with it comes a certain sense of finality and rest. Instead, by contrast Doll's death is so brutal and devastating because although it's something that she has been calling upon herself since she started to consume other drones for her goals, it's just so heartbreaking because she managed to achieve absolutely nothing despite being one step forward everyone else in the story; she never got better, never reademned herself, made their parents sacrifice worthless, died almost entirely off camera completely alone and scared, and as her last compensation act she managed to give Uzi a barely useful warning before having her probably still alive consciousness eaten by an eldritch atrocity. At the end of the day, she was deemed worthless by the main antagonist and quickly brushed aside.
And we go back to a certain reoccurring theme regarding this family: Yeva never speaks. Her husband is never given a name. Doll is literally a toy name. Their story plays out in the shadow of the main plot. Every single aspect regarding them paints their existence as worthless and inconsequential (classic eldritch horror), yet are given enough spotlight to leave an impact on us, to have their presence felt, and to give us the impression that, despite their bad luck, if they only took certain decisions in certain key moments, maybe they would have survived and received a much better ending than the one they got.

✧˖°. IF ONLY I COULD WAKE YOU UP - iii
content: I PRESENT TO YOU MY CROWNING JEWEL MY MASTERPIECE THIS IS MY MONA LISA YALL I CANNOT SCREAMINGGGGGGG
percy had sent out a totally not passive aggressive message that the boys would be leaving from his place at twelve, so be there if you wanted to wish them off. you had a negative desire to go and see leo for the first time since...well, the shit hit the fan, but annabeth had stopped by your apartment and bribed you with an iced coffee. look, every girl's got her breaking point, okay? anyways, you guys pulled up to percy's apartment, from which he was blaring 'hawaiian roller coaster ride' and 'queen of the beach' while wearing a fugly hawaiin button up shirt, muttering something about summer saving his soul or whatever.
"your boyfriend, annie," you taunted annabeth, taking a pointed sip of your coffee as she laughed, shoving at your shoulder.
"and that one's yours," she shot back, nodding her head at leo, who had just pulled his suitcase from jason's car only for it to spill open, as he hadn't zipped it close. you flushed, glaring at annabeth and bumping your shoulder with hers.
"not yet."
"ah! you said 'yet,' as in, 'it will happen eventually!," annabeth squealed, pointing at you, deepening your blush as you smacked at her with wild hands.
"go be a smartie pants somewhere else!' you hissed, walking away with a shake of your head. you had great intentions of walking into percy's apartment to steal a capri sun but you paused as you walked passed leo attempting to shove his clothes back into his suitcase. you sighed quietly to yourself and mentally pulled your big girl pants on, kneeling on the sidewalk beside him and helping. his eyes instantly darted to you and softened, which you didn't see as you helped return his clothes to his suitcase.
"hey," leo breathed out, like it took his breath away to say the word. you glanced up, offering him a soft upward turn of your lips.
"hey," you whispered back, intending to pull your eyes away but you couldn't seem to. gods, you loved his honey brown eyes, you felt trapped in them like a fly in those sticky traps. and honesty? you'd die to stay close.
"i-im sorry about travis," stated leo, squeezing his eyes shut as you returned your eyes to his suitcase. wishing he hadn't opened his stupid, big mouth.
"im sorry about...ya know," you shot back, shrugging, as you realized you were just parroting the boy.
"eh, it's for the best," leo said as you but your lip, fiddling with one of his shirts.
"yeah, i think so, too," you replied, trying to keep your breathing even at your bold statement. leo raised a brow at your comment, opening his mouth to say something but you cut him off by holding up a pair of his boxers, that looked like the texas flag, proudly written in bold letters on the left leg were the words 'everything's bigger in texas.'
"cute."
"shut up!" he groaned, snatching them from you and shoving them into his suitcase. you were giggling on the sidewalk outside percy's apartment and leo was certain he'd never heard a more beautiful sound. he was shaking his head, but unable to keep the smile that only you ever managed to pull from him taking over his lips
"what- what really makes them is that fact that they say everything is bigger in texas," you managed to get out between your giggles, beaming a smile at the boy, who rolled his eyes as he zipped his suitcase shut.
"that's because everything is bigger in texas," winked leo as he stood up, the blush that shot up to your cheeks not something he missed. he then held his hands out to you and you smiled, grasping them like it was second nature, letting him pull you off the nasty sidewalk.
"thanks for the help," he said once you were standing and you could tell he wanted to say more, words sitting on the edge of his tongue. but you were scared, truthfully, so you dropped his hands and took a few steps back.
"of course. what are friends for...right?"
those words left your mouth like bullets and you regrated them instantly. you never wanted more in your life to swallow your words.
"right. friends," leo repeated, nodding his head and looking away from you. both of you were suddenly aware of the fact that friends dont care about each other in the way you do, friends dont think about each other in the way you do, friends just dont. once more, leo opened his mouth, words like 'love' and 'dates' eager to fall from his mouth but then jason was throwing and arm around his shoulders and frank was taking his suitcase and shoving it into the trunk of percy's car.
"woooooo, boy's trip! no stinky girl's invited!" percy whooped only to instantly be silenced by the look annabeth gave him, "my apologies, wise girl."
"damn straight," mused annabeth, nodding her head in content as percy pressed a kiss to her cheek.
"okay, okay, final goodbyes. then in to the car and off to da beach!!" percy cheered, squeezing annabeth in a tight hug.
"hey, could you record that econ lecture for me?" jason asked as he gave you a quick hug and you nodded your head.
"course. you want me to record the bio one too?" you offered and jason was nodding his head as frank patted your back as he passed, nodding at you with a minor salute before hopping into the car. jason thanked you, following frank into the car, leaving leo in his wake.
"you...you have fun, okay?" you told leo, holding your arms wide for hug, knowing you shouldn't as it wouldn't help with your broken heart, but you couldn't stop yourself. without a second thought, leo was wrapping his arms around you and shoving his face into your shoulder.
"i- i...i'll see you when we get back, i guess," leo muttered into your shoulder and you squeezed your eye shut, wishing he'd said something else. anything else, but preferably a confession of some sorts.
"of course. you know, i'd wait for you."
"i know...im sorry but i cant go another day-"
"leo, come on, man!" frank shouted as percy laid on his horn, a clear sign for leo to finish.
"we'll talk when you get back, leo," you told him, shoving him off you as his hands didn't seem to want to leave. leo nodded, but even then he didn't seem happy with the compromise as he finally got into the car.
you stood with the other girls, waving the boys off, your arms wrapped around yourself. and you had a sinking feeling that you had just wished what could have been the love of you life off. gods, what you wouldn’t give for him to just call you up.
leo sat in the car, his head leaned back against the headrest, watching the new york skyscrapers turn into montauk beaches. and he regretted every opportunity he had to tell you how he felt and didn't. he wanted nothing more than to call you up, slipping his guts over the phone and waiting with baited breath for you to reply in a similar manner, but as they inched closer to their destination, he watched the bars on his phone drop, his chance slipping through his fingers, in miles per hour.

Hi there, it's me, your girl, knocking on your door and asking for a tiny fic if you take to this prompt 😊
Strip poker. Lmao no. But maybe. It'd just be Tav getting naked as they lose horribly to him.
Okay actual prompt, sorry. I love possessive Raphael, it shivers me timbers.
What if after he successfully gets the Crown with Tav's help. And Tav thinks they're done forever, and is sad about it during their hurrah meal (THAT HE PROMISED US BUT WE DIDNT GET IN GAME?), but Raphael is very much not done with Tav yet. But plays them along a little, delighting in how attached they seem to be to him.
But also, feel free to do the strip poker adjacent if that appeals more. 😉 Thank you my dear!
________
A/N: I’m going to be super honest, babe. I almost did the strip poker prompt.
________
“This, my dear, to a most successful partnership.” Raphael held up his glass, a beautiful crystal flute that seemed to catch the firelight; held it. Tav didn’t want to guess how rare it was, or how much it cost. Raphael seemed inclined to excess; the meal he’d promised so many moons prior reflected those beliefs. The first wine he’d served was centuries old; the second was even older. The gown he’d left provided, perfectly tailored, was set with enough jewels to sustain a small kingdom.
Tav smiled at his toast but could not find it in herself to respond. As fine as the night had been, it held a note of finality that sat heavy on her heart. It was the bow on his victory and his crown. After this, they’d go their separate ways.
It was objectively the correct course of action. Dealing with a devil of any sort was ill-advised; dealing with one so intimately bordered on suicide.
Raphael smirked at her, cocking his head to the side. The firelight caught him in profile, sharpening already fine features, casting his eyes in deeper shadows. He leaned forward. “My, has the cat finally caught your tongue? Here? At the end of all things?”
“Not in the least. Only tired.”
“I could send you back…”
“No!” The answer was far too quick. The devil arched a brow, smiling with teeth. He folded his hands in front of him, long fingers interlaced. Tav tried not to fixate on them, or the way his thumb shifted, stroking some invisible line across his wrist. “No, that isn’t necessary. It’s only…I supposed a part of me didn’t expect things to end so soon.”
“But it’s been months, my sweet. Are you not tired of the road? The violence?” Lower, a note of teasing crept into his voice. “My company?” Tav huffed. The adventurer sipped her wine to stop her immediate reply. The one the devil undoubtedly wanted. His eyes, bright as hellfire, glowed. “It should grieve me to leave you wanting, little mouse. You need only say that word and…” he snapped his fingers. The candles leaped with new liveliness before fading to a more intimate level. “We might find some new way to occupy our time.”
“You have hells to conquer.”
“And what is a conquest without dear friends?” He chuckled, and Tav fought the urge to shiver. The fireplace was far too large for the banquet hall. Avernus was naturally hot. The air in her lungs felt stagnant and overheated. “Admit it. You're curious. What will Raphael accomplish?”
“I don’t doubt you if that’s what you’re implying.”
“Never. I would not dream of slandering my talents or your good sense, pet.” He extended his hand, palm up. “But I would never force my suit. You are, as ever, entirely free to make your own choices.”
Tav pursed her lips. The little alarm in the back of her head was screaming. Run, it said, get far from here and far from him. She’d never been good at listening to those notes of reason. Raphael must have seen it too. The devil smirked, the right corner of his lips curling back to highlight the point of his fangs. “I wouldn’t…see us part ways. Not yet.”
“Mmm. And why not? Indulge this…inquiring mind.”
 She sighed, shrugging. “Because I’m…fond of you, devil.”
“Good girl, honesty is always the best policy.” Gods, but he looked insufferably pleased with himself. Raphael leaned back, resting his chin in his palm. He drummed his fingers against his cheek. “It would be dangerous for you to stay, of course, and I could never endanger one so dear to me. Unless…” he let the sentence hang between them, full of potential and thoroughly premeditated. Tav could feel the noose tightening, the hooks he’d set in her flesh from their first meeting tugging at her soul. “A patron makes all the difference in the hells. Were you to swear yourself to me, you might remain.”
She laughed. “Is that all? Just put myself in your hands?”
“My hands, my lap, my bed.” His smirk took on a particularly feline quality. “Don’t look so surprised, pet. I kept the Emperor out of that lovely head. Did you think I hadn’t seen what was in it?”
He made a vague gesture with his left hand, and those lurid imaginings came forward. The dreams that had chased Tav into an uneasy sleep for months: his touch smoothing over her hips. His mouth on her breasts. Touching, and teasing, and…
“Enough.” She swallowed, head spinning. “You’ve made your point.”
“Swear you are mine, devote yourself to me, and I will give all your imaginings form. What is one mortal life compared to pleasure eternal?” He held out his hand again.
And Tav took it.

First of all I love your work!! I keep rereading kiss the cook. I have a request God! Gale/Tav. A spicy fic about Tav and God Gale’s first time since he’s turned into a god.
anon. anon im so sorry. this turned into angst. please forgive me <3
NSFW
read it on ao3
~~~
Tav hasn't seen Gale since he left in search of the crown, promising to find her and bring her with him to Elysium. She'd believed him, but she thought he'd have come to her by now.
It's been 6 months. She's starting to lose faith.
She isn't completely convinced that he's going to come to the party. Withers insists he sent Gale an invite, but she's trying not to hold her breath. 'Trying' being the key-word here.
The truth is, she's desperate to see him again. She aches for him. He completes a part of her that she didn't even know was missing. He's soft and gentle with her in a way no one ever has been before, he's all light touches and tender caresses. He smells like old books and cinnamon, and he brings her more comfort than anything else could. She'll do anything for him. She just wants him back.
Withers is encouraging everyone to raise their glasses, finishing his toast, and her heart sinks at the realisation that Gale won't be turning up.
She wishes he would turn up.
Shadowheart is midway through saying something to her, clearly trying to take her mind off of him despite it being a fruitless cause, when a blinding beam of light flashes down from the sky.
It's like a bolt of lighting, the speed at which it descends, and there's a long pause where the light persists as if frozen in time, before it slowly fades away. Gale stands in its place and she runs to him, ecstatic, before her footfalls slow as she takes him in.
He did it. He found the crown. He became a God.
He looks so different. His whole body shimmers chrome, catching the light like an errant jewel in a necklace. His hair, once soft and flowing, seems sculpted to his head and body like a statue, every hint of his natural colour replaced with the same otherworldly silver as the rest of him. His eyes are glowing pits, no longer the soft warm brown she so loved looking into. They seem to create their own light, which wisps and curls around his eyebrows like ink through water. He looks glorious.
He looks new.
He spots her, smiles, and crosses the remaining distance. He stops a foot away.
"I had hoped I'd see you here." He says, and his voice. It's so different now. It echoes and reverberates as though he's stood in a vast cave, it screams of power and strength. It's his voice, still, but it doesn't sound like him anymore. There's something missing from behind his words that makes them feel slightly empty.
"I..." She feels shellshocked, "I was starting to think you'd forgotten about me."
"Forget you? Never." His words make her heart sing, but his tone is all wrong. She knows he means it, but it just sounds so... lifeless.
He keeps talking, "I'm afraid time works quite differently in Elysium. I didn't realise how long I'd been gone, until I received Withers' summon."
All the time she spent, the months dragging on, missing and longing for him, had felt like mere moments to him. It makes her feel a little bitter, but she pushes the feeling down.
He's still talking. Something about 'the finer points of divine ascension' and how 'mortal comprehension' isn't enough to fully understand. He found the crown, he reforged it, he took control of it. The Karsite Weave has become the Galarian Weave. He commands it.
Tav swallows around the lump in her throat, "well, I'm ready to come with you."
His face twists into some sort of amusement, as if he finds her eagerness endearing. When he speaks, his tone is that of a teasing reprimand. "I see you won't be claiming the dominion of 'patience' in the heavens. All in good time, my love. For now, mortality has one more night of enjoyment in store..."
He takes her hand in his, and her skin tingles where they make contact, as though molten electricity courses through his veins. He leads her away from the party, and she hears the woops and catcalls of the rest of her friends as they fade away from view.
When he presses his lips to hers, it feels like static shock. When he runs his hands down her arms, it feels like the air right before lighting strikes. When he slowly undresses her, ready to worship her body as if she's the immortal being, not him, her skull tingles and her eyes water. It's so intense. He's barely even touched her and it's so, so intense.
He strips her slowly. Reverently. He has nothing but time. He has no need to rush, no need to worry. Everything is so different now. There's no hiding in tents trying to be private, there's no sneaking off in the night and tucking themselves back into their clothes before they get caught, there's no stolen kisses when everyone's looking away. He has eternity. They have eternity.
When she's laid on the ground, stripped bare for him, he lifts her legs over his shoulders and descends on her core with his mouth. He moves his lips like he's sending a prayer through her body, like she's the conduit to his devotion. His tongue ghosts over her nerves and she feels like a lighting rod the way his energy travels through her, as though seeking to ground itself through her fingertips as she digs them into the dirt.
And when he lays his body across hers, enters her with one smooth thrust, it's blinding pleasure. Every stroke he takes has lights blinking behind her eyes, every thrust like a jolt of power travelling up to her throat. When she finds her release it crackles through her like an exposed wire touching water, and when his follows shortly after her vision goes white with ecstasy at the feeling, as though his very essence is spreading through her marrow.
They lay together for a while, staring at the stars. He tells her of Elysium, of the endless ocean of constellations and the rivers of pure light. He speaks about his domain, how the Crown of Karus is kept safe at the centre of it, how he protects it with his immense newfound power. He waxes poetic about the shrines that have already been erected in his honour; several in Thay, and a grand temple under construction in Amn.
It dawns on her, all at once, that he hasn't asked how she's been.
She feels a pit open up in her stomach.
He tells her about the fathomless power at his disposal. He tells her about dragging the crown from the Chinonthar. He tells her about his disagreement with Mystra, when she learnt of his ascension, and his plans to challenge her further in time.
He doesn't ask about his mother. He doesn't ask about Tara. He doesn't ask about her.
It feels like she's ripping in half.
All too soon they're standing at the edge of the river.
"So, it's time for me to return to the heavens. The question is - do you wish to join me? To become a God at my side?"
Her stomach lurches.
She wants to. She wants to remain at his side, for all of eternity. She wants to go with him and build a home with him in the sky, a domain of magic of their own creation.
But she also wanted to create a home with him in Waterdeep. She wanted nights together curled up next to the fireplace, while he played piano with his magic and read arcane books to her. She wanted to sit on his balcony with him, watching the water, holding his hand in the evening breeze. She wanted the date night he promised, with his homemade hundur sauce. She wanted to meet his mother, have tea with her, call her 'mother-in-law'. She wanted to marry him.
And as she stands with him, as he is now, she takes him in. His eyes are luminous trenches, no longer a warm chocolate brown. His skin, once tanned and soft, is cold and silver. He doesn't smell of old books, or cinnamon; he smells like petrichor - like earth soaked in thunder and rain.
She stands with him, hand in hand. But he doesn't feel like home anymore. It feels like he's a million miles away. Like he's already gone back to the heavens.
"I can't"
When he leaves, she wishes she went with him. Then she wishes he'd stayed. Then she wishes he'd never found the crown.
She wishes he'd chosen her.
She sits, knees clutched to her chest, and she sobs.
A small ball of fur and feathers curls into her side. A tressym.
They mourn together.
it’s been seven days. seven days i’ve been stuck on this island. Seven days sense those things attacked me and my men. I don’t know how it happened. It’s like i was in a trance, she was pulling me towards her with her eyes. Oh those eyes, those beautiful ey- No Satoru Stop! Get your self together. I started slapping my face to wake up and get myself to stop thinking about her. Before i flipped the ship, i heard her, i swear i heard her whispering in my ear. She promised me power and riches if i would just jerk the wheel.
“Oh Satoru, listen to me brave sailor, riches beyond imagination await you. I can give you what you want, i just need you to trust me. Trust me Satoru”
Trust her? I looked forward and saw the most beautiful women i’ve ever seen looking at me. I didn’t care where she came from, I just wanted to see more of her.
“Yes my brave sailor, treasures only the bold can claim can all be yours”
“Tell me more please” I was so eager to know how i could attain this treasures. Looking out at the sea, the sun hitting my skin started to fade away making the once clear sky dark and gloomy, The once calm waters became more aggressive crashing into the side of my ship, but i hardly noticed, to focused on what this women, with her soft enchanting voice could possible mean, it’s like i couldn’t control myself. That’s was the only thing on my mind.
“Ancient jewels that shine brighter than the stars, Scales of the mightiest creatures that have ever lived, stronger than any metal or wood, The crown of the ruler of the sea Queen Asherah, with this crown you will gain the ability to breathe under water, we can see each other that way Satoru, i want you to see me, i want to see you”
Without a second thought i spoke
“I want to see you too, tell me how i can see you” I gripped the wheel tighter eager to know what i could do to attain these things that only are spoken of in folktales, things you hear about from your comrades while you watch the star in the sky dreaming about what you want to be.
Her voice sounded eldritch the next time she spoke, more sinister, different than the soft voice i had grown accustomed too
“Crash your ship”
What? My eye go wide but before i could think my mind goes back to the promise of hidden treasures, things that could make me the most powerful man to sail these dangerous waters, making me remembered for generations. Ignoring the warnings the waves gave me, I start to steer my ship closer to the sound of her voice. Where are you, how can i find you
As the ship goes deeper into the perilous waters, it feels like the water has an iron grip on my ship, making me and all my men shake with it.
“Captain what’s going on what are you doing?” One of my men shout at me, but i ignore him continuing on my path.
No matter what you do or how hard you fight you fight nature will always win
My ship flips succumbing to the oceans furry.
The last thing i remember is the screams of my men, begging for mercy, begging to live. And the scene of that same women and others attacking them as they struggled to keep themselves up, in that oh so unforgiving sea. And that soul wrenching song luring me to sleep.
I woke up in a sweat, jumping up from my position. How was i alive?
I’ve been stuck here for seven days waiting for anyone to notice that we never reached the port. Wandering around with no certain direction in mind. But the thing that irked me the most is i still wanted to see her. I don’t know what i would do if i happened to see her again. Maybe try to kill her to be honest. For what she made me do, or maybe she wasn’t even real and i did it myself.
My mind has been spiraling ever sense. As i kept walking i reached shore again. Great i went in a circle.
Falling onto the sand i felt the grains against my back prickling my skin. I was starving and hungry, only surviving off of the fruit that hung off the trees around me. I could feel myself slipping in and out of consciousness. This was it, i was going to die here. Right when my eyes were about close and my mind was about to fade into darkness. I heard her again.
“Oh Satoru, you look so hurt” she murmured in my ear. Her voice was so calming, oh so soothing i almost forgot how much i loathed her.
I got the toughness of steal and forced my body up and finally i saw her smiling at me.
“You…” I said with a strain in my voice glaring at her. She had so much nerve to smile in my face after that fucking mind control spell she cast on me. How could she be so confident? Standing so close to me in my reach like i won’t snap her neck and make her suffer the same fate as the men of mine she killed.
Without too much thinking i gather all the strength i can muster and lunge at her.
But she..she evaded me so gracefully, like she was dancing she twirled out my grasp, and i fell face first into the sand right in front of her like an idiot. I heard her laughing at me.
As i lay there defeated in the sand, she continued to laugh at me. That haunting melody that echoed in my ears caused my face to turn red. I couldn’t understand how she seemed so exquisite and untouched and calm by the chaos that she had caused. The tragedy she had caused. Struggling to my feet, my anger added fuel to the fiery flames that ignited in me at the sound of her mocking laugh.
“Why did you make me do it?”I growled not even bothering to wipe the sand sticking to my damp clothes “What even are you?”
Her laughter died out and she looked at me almost childlike her eyes looked so doll like.
“I am a Siren, Satoru. A creature of the sea, drawn to the deepest desires of men like yourself. Satoru your heart desired and sought after the most beautiful treasures, all the glory and for your name to be remembered for generations. I merely offered you what your heart desired”
Anger surged within me. “And at what cost? Where is all that now? After my crew is gone my ship has sunk, What do you even gain from all of this destruction?”
“Oh Satoru” There she goes again saying my name like that. “The sea demands its sacrifice, the sea doesn’t kneel for anybody, In return i bestow upon you the opportunity to come with me, Embraces the depths with you Satoru and wield the treasures your heart desires”
I hesitated, why did i hesitate, i was torn between the desires for revenge and the lingering allure of her vow. The lines between hatred and captivation started to blur. “Join you? After what you’ve done?”I croaked out my voice strained
Her expression softened, almost like she pitied me. I hated that. But the more i looked it almost looked like understanding “You may despise me now, but the sea has changed lots of peoples perspectives it has a way of doing that to people. Embrace the change and power i offer and you shall become something greater than you can imagine”
The conflict raged within me as i heard the waves crash, further echoing the turmoil in my mind. I yearned for vengeance, while another part of me felt drawn to her seductive promises she whispered. The siren extended her hand to me, an invitation to a destiny entwined with the depths of the sea.
“Do you choose the surface, where you will be stuck here forever wandering this very here beach because no one will come to save you Satoru i’m the only one who is here for you” Her voice got darker as she spoke it seemed she was getting angry but she quickly covered it up again “Or will you come with me, We can be together Satoru, i will make all your dreams come true” She was calm again looking at me with a glint in her eyes awaiting my answer. Why was she so bent on taking me with her, was she once like me ? Who are you?
A starange calm settled within me, the rage giving way to curios acceptance. I found myself reaching for her hand that she offered me. The decision made against the backdrop of the now calm sea. It’s like nature was playing into her hands. Our hands met, a surge of entertainment courses through me.
The world around us started to shift, and the island transformed into an otherworldly paradise. Vivid hues danced in the air, and the haunting melody of the sirens song resonated with a newfound lucidness. When i looked around me i felt a connection to the depths, an understanding that surpassed my former human limitations.
“You are now more than a mere sailor Satoru” she whispered from behind me. Her eyes gleaming with a mix of triumph and compassion. “You are now part of the oceans songs, it’s powers”
As i embraced my transition and transformation. The memory’s of what now was my past life started to fade like distant echos. I didn’t harbor resentment for the shipwreck, or the loss of my crew. Instead a symbiotic relationship with the sea and with the siren unfolded before me.
In the depths i discovered the wonders that were promised to me. The ancient jewels that shimmered like the stars. Scales of mighty creatures that pulsed with raw strength, and the beautiful crown of the Queen Asherah. With the crown on my head the ability to breathe underwater became second nature. And the ocean unveiled is secrets to me. This is what power felt like.
The siren, whose named i learned was y/n, and i began to roam the depths together. She became more than the seductive creature who led me astray, she became my mentor, my friend, my lover. Our connection transcended the surfaces desires that once bounded us.
As time passed i lost track of how long i had been apart of this aquatic realm. But i embraced it with open arms leaving behind the limitations my once mortal existence gave me.
The sea, once a relentless force, had became my ally, my truth. And with the Siren by my side i embraced the desires of the sea and the destiny that awaited in the endless expanse of the great blue.
Years have passed and whispers of the mysterious island reached the years of adventurous souls who wished to see if these folk tales were true. A group of explorers, drawn by tales of lost treasures, set sails toward their destination.
As their ship anchored near the sand of the island, the explorers set foot on the sandy shore. The air carried an eerie feeling, and the wind seemed to whisper untold secrets. Among the group was a seasoned archaeologist named Dr.William was leading the group.
Their footsteps echoed through the abandoned remains of a shipwreck that looked like it was washed up on shore, a haunting reminder of a past that was long forgotten. They explored further, discovering footprints deeply etched into the sand, evidence of what once was someone’s existence.
Deeper into the sand they discovered a figure lying motionless on the beach. A gasp swept through the group as they walked towards the body.
“Is that Satoru?”
“Who is that?”
“He was that famous caption who sailed the seven seas, but when he was on his way back home, it was said his ship crashed and he was never found”
The group gasped shocked by the news of the incident.
His body was intact but lifeless.
Dr. William explained the scene “Starvation” She uttered. A somber realization. “He must have been stranded here for days and took his last breathe when he laidback on the sand”
The once vibrant and ambitious man laid there as mere shell his dreams and desires extinguished by the unforgiving nature of the island.
As the explorers gathered around his body they prayed and paid their respects, but right as they were getting ready to leave the heard a haunting melody and out of the corner of there eyes they could’ve sworn they had seen something, or rather someone, rise from the sea ready to confront the crew. The last thing they heard before they passed out was
“Oh Satoru, my brave sailor”
You did a number on me But honestly, baby, who's counting?
You don’t know how you found yourself in this scenario again, getting fucked dumb by a man you swore you were done with just a couple hours before.
The noises coming out of your mouth were unholy, much like the way he was thrusting into you so hard, so deeply it was making you see stars. Over and over. Over and over.
“You like that, don’t you? You’re such a fucking slut for my cock.”
You were, you always have been, ever since you first laid your eyes on Jake Sully, you were his.
It was one of the nights your dad organised a get-together for his friends and colleagues, all military men, all 10 feet tall and so fucking hot and muscular, so forbidden, you were dripping in cum just at the thought of one of them drilling into you.
You put on some nice clothes for the occasion, your dad stressing the importance of this evening to you several times. A little black dress, hugging all of your curves in the best way, some black pumps and a simple necklace with a pearl pendant. Your long hair was flowing softly down your back, covering some of the bare skin on display. You were wearing natural makeup, except for the lips, painted red, your favourite colour. You made your way downstairs to the living room, where you could hear soft chattering from outside the door, and with a deep breath and a glass of champagne in your hands, you walked in.
You felt eyes on you as you moved towards your father, who was animatedly chatting to some of his colleagues. He smiled fondly at the sight of you, his only daughter, the jewel in the crown of his endless accomplishments.
“There she is. The best thing I have ever done.”
“I don’t know, dad, that car you built from scratch is pretty up there, if you ask me. I pale in comparison.”
All the men around him laughed, and you knew you have done your part for this particular dinner. You came in, you looked pretty and presentable, you made people laugh, all in the span of a few minutes. You were getting good at this.
You made the rounds, saying hello to all the people you have grown up seeing, knowing, making small talk with. They were nice men, most of them, and you felt comfortable in this situation, surrounded by them, knowing that you were safe in this house, in this life, that if anything were to ever happen to you, you have about 30 trained, powerful soldiers in your phone that would fuck up whoever wanted to mess with you.
Eventually, you reached a smaller group that was chatting softly, and your eyes immediately glued to one man, that you haven’t seen before. A little taller than the rest, you were barely reaching his ribs even in 5 inch heels, and your knees went weak taking him all in. He was gorgeous, the most gorgeous man you have ever seen; younger - younger than most people here, although that still made him probably twice your age. His hair was shoulder length and braided in small braids, one rogue braid in front of his face, and you felt the sudden urge to touch it, and then his face, his chest, his -
“So good to see you, kid. How is everything going?”
“Good, Frank. How about you? How’s the family? I heard Emily got into her dream University, that’s a big accomplishment!”
You felt eyes on you - you felt his eyes on you. There was heat everywhere in your body where his gaze fell, and you felt yourself cowering a little under its intensity. You couldn’t give less of a fuck about Emily and her upcoming trip, not when you were worried all of them will see a line of your arousal dripping down your leg with how wet you were for this man who is yet to speak a word in your direction.
“Have you met Jake? He’s a new transfer, best of us all if you ask me.”
You forced yourself to look up at him, and your lips parted with a small gasp when you saw how he was eyeing you. Like you were prey, like a meal he was dying to eat up. Fuck.
His hand was stretched out in front of you, expectantly, and you took it, shaking it once. He lingered, not letting you go for just a second longer - not long enough to be suspicious, but long enough that you noticed, that it mattered. There was ache in between your legs now, cunt throbbing painfully and desperate for attention. You have never reacted in this way, never had such a visceral reaction to anyone else you have ever met before. The way he was making you feel was so primal, so raw, you were panting in need and you knew then you had to have this man. Whatever it took, you had to have this man fuck you til you passed out.
“I thought they were all exaggerating when speaking of your beauty, but I now see it was an understatement. It’s nice to meet you…?”
“Y/N.”
His head tilted slightly to the sight, and with a small smirk, he said. “Nice to meet you, Y/N. I’m sure I will see you again sometime.” The way your name rolled off his tongue drove you mad. You needed to excuse yourself. Now.
You hurried to your bedroom on the upper floor of the house and closed the door. You didn’t even have it in you to remove your dress, the agony too much, too palpable to allow for such frivolous, pointless distractions. You pulled your lace panties down your legs and threw them carelessly to the side, and reached in your nightstand for your best friend in these kinds of circumstances. You lay on your back in your large, king-size bed and spread your legs, your fingers quickly finding your folds, that were so wet there was a small pool forming on the sheets, and you haven’t even started. You moaned at the contact, so turned on that you knew it was going to take very little to make you cum so hard your legs would be shaking. When you were ready, you directed the vibrator to the entrance of your pussy, sliding it in slowly, feeling every inch. You couldn’t help the moan that escaped, and you couldn’t help the image of the man you just met that was plaguing your mind, driving you to your release faster.
“Jake...” you moaned his name, trying to will him into existence, into you.
You came violently, legs shaking and feet curling, panting loudly at the powerful orgasm that enveloped you. It was the best orgasm you have had in a long time - that’s what this man was doing to you - just his image, just the thought of him.
“Well, I was going to at least buy you dinner first before I expected to see you cum moaning my name, but I'm definitely not complaining.”
Your eyes shot open and your body upright, vibrator still deep inside of you, and you were shocked to see him, just standing there, just looking at you, same smirk plastered on his face as earlier. Even with a clearer mind, you were still perplexed at his beauty, at his magnetic force just pulling you towards him and you found yourself forgetting about the horrendous situation you were currently in just to admire him a little longer.
“You like what you see?” He raised an eyebrow, smiling crudely at your fucked out form and your curious eyes.
“What are you doing here?”
“I just wanted to check in on you. You seemed… a little flustered at the party, and I was afraid you might be sick. I wouldn’t want you to get sick on my watch, that would be against my duty as your father's friend and colleague.”
He closed the door swiftly behind him, and made his away towards the bed. Towards you.
You recoiled, removing the vibrator quickly and pushing your knees together, bringing them to your chest.
“What do you think you are doing?”
“I told you, I just want to make sure you are ok.”
You wanted to tell him to go, but you couldn’t find your voice - not when he was stalking towards you the way he was, a hungry look in his eyes, not when you wanted him to devour you whole.
He placed his knee on the bed and gently grabbed both your ankles in one hand, pulling you towards him so easily, like you were a tiny doll. You were startled at his actions, but curious to see what he was going to do to you, so you said nothing and waited.
Once your feet reached the end of the bed, touching his knee, he spread your legs apart, and took you in, his mouth parted to accommodate for the deeper breaths he was taking looking at you.
“Look at this. All of this for me?” He trailed his hand up your leg and you shuddered at the contact, at the feel of his rough hands on your body, sending pulses of electrical current up and down your entire being. You felt yourself becoming wet yet again, and the anticipation rising in your stomach was making you dizzy. You closed your eyes and let yourself feel him, feel his touch, feel the way his hands reached your folds and tentatively stroked them, removing the slick liquid with two fingers and watching as it dragged when he touched them together and pulled them apart.
Your back was arched now, eyes tightly shut, silently pleading for more, for anything to help you release some of the tension in your lower abdomen.
“From the moment I saw you walking in that room, tight dress and those lips, those fucking lips, my cock got so hard I thought they would all be able to see, see what you did to me. I could smell you, smell your dripping cunt, and I knew you needed a good fucking, I knew you wanted it as much as I did. Isn’t that right, baby girl?”
You moaned at his words, so hot, so wrong, you almost came just hearing them. He pushes two fingers in your damp pussy, and the groan he releases when he feels you nearly sets you off, and you buck your hips wildly on his fingers. He pulls them out just as quickly, and when your eyes found his, he had a serious, dangerous expression on his face, which made you gulp audibly.
“I asked you a question.”
“Yes, yes...” you say panting, “that’s right.”
He pushes his fingers back in, starting a slow, torturous pace that drives you fucking crazy. “That’s right, what?”
“That’s right…sir.”
“Good girl.” He quickened his pace, not stopping until your undoing, which made your entire body convulse uncontrollably, cumming all over his long fingers.
“Fuck, you are so hot. God, I will ruin you, girl. And you will let me, you will beg me to.”
You knew then he was right. This man will ruin you, and you will watch, unable to do anything about it, but pray that when he’s done, there’s still something left of you to go on.
Sorrow, part 10
Tumblr media
"The announcement shall take place in the morrow - many rumors swirl regarding the king and we must end them."
Aemond nodded, watching as his grandfather unrolled the parchment that proclaimed him, officially, Prince Regent. His eye landed on his wife, who was watching him. She'd gained some color in the last few days, he thought, not so pale as she had been when she'd first arrived at King's Landing, her ribs not as visible when she undressed.
He felt the stirrings of lust at the thought of Elyse removing her clothing. He'd had her that morning, yet he felt as if he had not bedded his wife in days.
"Sign."
Aemond took the quill, added his signature and some flourishes to the bottom of the parchment.
"What news of that whore, my sister?"
Ser Otto closed his eyes at the language, but merely said, "we have yet to hear anything. She has certainly heard of Daemon's death and she will be more dangerous than ever."
"Let her try. We shall be ready for her."
Elyse stood, and joined him at the desk, looking down at the proclamation.
Ser Otto left, and Aemond wrapped his arm around his wife's shoulders. "And you, Princess, shall we have a crown made for you as well?"
"Aemond," she chided gently. "I want no such thing."
He kissed her until she was clinging to his shoulders, her mouth demanding on his. She had lost some of her timid nature around him, and he would do everything in his power to encourage her. "I wish to take you while riding Vhagar," he whispered in her ear, and felt the shiver that went through her. "Have you ride me while I ride the greatest dragon in the realm."
Her arms went around his neck and he grabbed her, lifting her off the ground as he walked to their chambers.
"Maybe some other time," he muttered, once he had closed the door, "I have to have you now."
He kept his eye on her face while he tore the clothes from her body, ready to stop if he saw fear in her eyes, but she was as frenzied as he, pulling at his tunic and the laces on his breeches until he could take it no more and drove inside her, not caring that he still had one leg mostly in his trousers and the leather tie was hanging from his hair.
She moaned as he filled her, arching her back, and he pressed his forehead to hers, trying desperately not to rut into her mindlessly like the animal he was. He kissed her upturned lips, and felt her fingertips caressing his cheek.
She was life and warmth and he would push aside all thoughts of war and death when he was with her. "Mine," he whispered as she kissed his jaw. "Mine."
* * * * *
Alicent stood, once again, as a son of hers was crowned as ruler of the realm.
Regent. Ruler. It was the same, she thought. Her father would always be plotting behind the scenes, except this time she hoped he would meet some resistance. Aemond wasn't as willing to let go of the reins as Aegon had been, and she wanted to see her middle son prove himself.
She watched Elyse, dressed in grey, standing next to Aemond. She'd gently but firmly declined to wear any sort of crown or headpiece, and wore her blond locks down, held back only by a black ribbon. She wore no jewels, either, and Alicent decided to choose her battles when it came to the young woman and she would not fight this one.
She had ordered more suitable gowns to be sewn and embroidered for her. It would not do for the wife of the regent to walk around like a peasant in those simple dresses she wore. She might talk to Aemond, appeal to his vanity to take pride in his wife.
The crown of Aegon the Conqueror was placed on Aemond's head by Ser Criston Cole and the crowd cheered. Here there was no chance of a dragon tearing through the floor like when that bitch Rhaenys had nearly killed them all. Still, she knew her father had ordered extra men to keep watch, not only here, but all the way to Dragonstone.
To her surprise, after Aemond raised a hand to thank the crowd, he turned and grabbed his wife's hand, placing a kiss on it, and the crowd roared in approval.
Elyse had turned a bright shade of pink, but Aemond wasn't letting go of her hand.
Alicent considered, maybe Aemond was already playing the game. Aegon would certainly never had made any sort of loving gesture towards Helaena, but here was a young couple clearly in tune with each other.
Too bad about Elyse, though. A child might have cemented Aemond's legacy as regent until little Jaehaerys came of age, but if Elyse was right, there would be no children for them.
Aemond took Elyse back into the keep, and Alicent followed. Helaena had chosen to stay with her children and Aegon, well, Aegon was probably not even aware of what was happening. His beautiful face often wore a mask of confusion and pain, his mind dulled by milk of the poppy.
"Daeron might have made an appearance."
She turned to her father. "At least he gets to live away from all of this. Leave him be. He will be in your clutches soon enough." She spoke without looking at him, and walked faster to put distance between them.
"Dragonstone is far too close."
Otto watched as his grandson issued his first challenge.
"I do not want that bitch and her remaining bastards so close."
He saw Aemond's point. Dragonstone was a short dragon ride away from Westeros and they would always live under the threat of Rhaenyra amassing some semblance of power.
"Where do you suggest, then, Prince Regent?"
Aemond didn't bother to hide a smirk. "Pentos? Volantis? The middle of the sea?" He laced his fingers together. "She can live where we choose, surrounded by our people, in case she begins to plot."
"Then Pentos would be ideal. I shall draft terms and head to Dragonstone."
"I will go."
Otto shook his head. "I cannot risk that. They might be waiting for us, Aemond, and you going would be giving them a prize we cannot afford."
"I'm glad you have such heartfelt feelings for your flesh and blood," Aemond said mockingly. "Fine, but take enough men so that you do not become a prize yourself."
When Aemond stood, Otto simply stared. "We are not finished here-"
"I'm finished here, grandfather, but if you wish to stay here until dawn, you are within your right."
Elyse said nothing as the seamstress adjusted the neckline on her new dress. "Not too low, please," she had said, and the young woman had nodded and pulled up the fabric until Elyse felt more comfortable.
The dress was simple but it was nicer than anything she had ever worn. The silk alone shimmered whenever she moved, a silvery blue that made the earbobs Alicent had given her sparkle even more. She had never been one for jewels or adornments, but she was well aware of her position and how she might reflect on Aemond, and more than anything she wanted to be of help to him. If it meant dressing up, so be it.
Alicent had also given her a small pendant shaped like the star of the Seven, and Elyse had dutifully worn it every single day since.
Once the seamstress was finished, the helped Elyse remove the gown and put her own dress back on.
She would be visiting the orphanage in Flea Bottom later and she felt better wearing one of her plainer dresses. It would almost be an insult to go see the poor, destitute children wearing priceless jewels and dazzling fabrics.
Ser Criston would go with her. He was loyal and a fierce warrior, and although he was hardly needed when she was going to see children, Aemond would not agree to this outing unless she took Ser Criston with her.
"Princess."
She turned at the sound of his voice, and nodded, making sure the bag of sweets was safe in her pocket.
"Thank you for accompanying me, Ser Criston."
"It is my honor, Your Highness. It is very kind of you to bring some joy to those poor souls."
Once at the orphanage, the children watched her warily at first, until a little girl bravely walked up to her as she extended a hand containing a sweet. Elyse smile as the girl unwrapped the sweet and put it in her mouth, and then turned to the other kids and called them over.
Ser Criston hovered, but Elyse never stopped smiling as the children surrounded her, their soft murmurs of "princess" giving way to laughter as she tickled them or ruffled their hair. She ran out of sweets but promised to return, and then headed down the corridor to speak to some of the septas that ran the orphanage.
She meant to donate as much as Aemond would allow, make this a place of joy, not just survival, make sure the children were not only educated but could also play and thrive. When she knocked on the office door, Ser Criston took his place nearby.
The door opened and Elyse walked in, a warmth filling her at having seen so many children smiling and knowing she would be doing more for them. She could make a difference, she had access to resources that might not mean much to others but they would change so much in these children's lives. If she could not have her own children, then she would do whatever she could for others.
When the door closed behind her, she saw there was no one at the desk and she turned around and found herself facing a woman, holding a dagger toward her.
A Winter Ball
Pairing: Faerie Prince!Kita Shinsuke x Wingless Faerie!Reader WC: ~3.1k Genre: fluff CW: pure fluff, reader wears a dress and jewelry, kita is my dream
PART THIRTEEN OF JUMP AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR WINGS AS YOU FALL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As fall nears its close, Shinsuke longs more and more to bring you into his home. He longs to show you the glamorous palace and the fine pleasures that he hopes one day will be yours just as they are his. He wants to show you who he truly is and hopes desperately that you’ll accept him despite the omission he’s been spinning around for the months he’s known and fallen for you. Shinsuke’s plans start to fall in place when he’s presented with a perfect opportunity to bring you into the kingdom for a night.
It’s a shock to him when he’s confronted by his grandmother’s private seamstress. Wings fluttering behind her, scraps of fabrics falling from the book in her arms as she scurries towards him. “Your highness! Your highness, a moment please!” She bows quickly when she finds herself directly in front of her crown prince before quickly explaining herself. “I was sent on business from her majesty, she requested I speak to you in private about this matter.” Her eyes flicker towards the guard posted at the entrance to the hall, a formality of the palace that Shinsuke had never gotten used to.
Shinsuke scrunches his eyebrows in slight confusion before nodding and leading the seamstress into the adjacent office room, an empty space in which they could shut the door and have a bit of privacy. “What business did my grandmother send you for?”
“Right!” She shuffled quickly to the desk and laid open the book in her arms, flipping through the pages before she came to the correct one. “Her majesty has commissioned me to design a dress for your highness’ mysterious faerie. She’s under the assumption you would like to invite her to the ball you’re hosting for this year’s solstice.”
Shinsuke stood in shock for a moment, blinking blankly at the small girl next to him as her wings nearly buzzed in excitement.
“Her majesty sent me to you so you could help me with some of the design aspects. And the fabrics you’d wish for me to use for it.” He watched as her hand brushed over the page, small fingers pointing to the first image, the front of the dress. “I was thinking of a corseted front and I have these small jewels I can embroider into the swirls.” She rifled through the pocket of her dress and produced a small pack of cerulean gemstones to lay in front of him on the table. “The dress would end just above the floor so that it wouldn’t catch while she danced. Could you acquire her height for me please?”
“My grandmother asked you to do this?” The seamstress nodded without looking up, unaware of the softness that had come over Shinsuke’s features, the sudden realization he could bring you here. He had no time for his worries to begin about the lack of your wings before the seamstress turned her page.
“The back wouldn’t hold a train because though that would be elegant, it would make it awfully hard to dance.” She giggled slightly at her own comment and Shinsuke spoke before she could continue.
“What is that?” His eyes were glued to the center of the dress, the delicate sketches taking him off guard.
“Ah! Yes! Her majesty was very specific that the wings on the dress should be perceived as if they were simply laying down in a relaxed position. She asked me to speak to you of that as well, what the coloring and shape should be like so that I may properly attach them to the dress and make them look as natural as possible.”
“She-” Shinsuke cut himself off, his mind spinning over the woman next to him so casually speaking of adding false wings onto a dress for you. “Excuse me for a moment.” He turned back towards the door.
“Your highness, before you go!” She called quickly, forcing Shinsuke to turn to see her over his shoulder. “Thoughts, please? So that I may get started. I’ve been instructed to finish her dress before I work on her majesty’s.”
Shinsuke paused, his thoughts were racing but he breathed long enough to answer. “The jewels, could we do them in a lavender instead?” The seamstress nodded, quickly noting it on the paper. “The fabric should be made from the softest petals, but with iridescence.” He sighed to turn before one more thought. “It should be accessorized with gold.”
“The shoes as well?” Shinsuke nodded curtly at the seamstress before opening the door. “She’s in her study! Please come by my workshop when you’re done, for the shaping!”
Shinsuke’s steps were rushed as he navigated through the vast emptiness of the palace, towards his grandmother’s quarters. Quickly but firmly shutting himself inside her study with her, shooing off the guard to ensure the privacy of their upcoming conversation.
“Grandmother,” he turned to face her, worry written across his features as he stared at her from across the room, “you-”
“Please do not scrunch your face like that my darling boy.” She smiled lightly above the rim of her teacup before setting it down. “I assume my seamstress has finally caught up with you?”
“Yes, she just has. She informed me that you-”
“Wonderful, and has she begun to design something wonderful for your mystery faerie.”
“Well, yes. But grandmother she told me you-”
“Yes, yes, my boy. I know.” His grandmother smiled grandly at the speechlessness that Shinsuke now demonstrated. “She’s a wingless one isn’t she?” She hummed in thought as she stood and rounded her desk to be face to face with him. Her soft hands cupped his face and closed his mouth that he, until that point, was unaware was open. “Tried to think of why my grandson would neglect to introduce me to the faerie he’s found himself so enamored by. Pieced it together when I noticed you walking more and flying less. Practicing for her, no?”
“And you’re…” Shinsuke trailed off, eyes flickering around the glimmer in his grandmother’s eyes, “you’re not upset?”
“Oh my dear boy, no.” She smiled as she brushed back a piece of Shinsuke’s hair. “I’m thrilled that you’ve found someone you love so deeply. It’s all I’ve ever wanted for you. Where she comes from and what she doesn’t possess is of no concern to me. So long as she loves you back.” Shinsuke breathed deeply, like a weight had been lifted off of him as his grandmother removed her hands. “The royal advisors on the other hand,” she scoffed at her own mention of them, “oh they’d have a fit to know she was wingless. So we shall keep it from them for now, yes? Let the two of you enjoy yourselves a bit longer.” She gave a playful smile over her shoulder as Shinsuke still stood there speechless at the new revelation.
“Now,” she clapped her hands together as she made her way back to her original seat, “please go make your way back to my seamstress so she can make this dress perfect for my future granddaughter.” Shinsuke’s cheeks flared up at his grandmother’s casual permission for him to marry you but he couldn’t help the smile on his lips. “Oh! And see if you can’t get Aran to go along with you when you stop by now and then. I do think she’s sporting a bit of a crush on him and I think they’d be wonderful together.”
Shinsuke smiled at his grandmother’s typical meddling as he showed himself out of the study, a newfound goal in his mind.
Tumblr media
In the following weeks, Shinsuke spends any free time he’s not with you, practicing his dancing and helping to design your new dress. He has a newfound excitement for the upcoming ball. He usually doesn’t find himself in excitement over the annual winter solstice ball, but with the prospect of you being there, he can’t seem to get time to move quickly enough.
He’s roped everyone into helping him practice his dancing. Swearing Aran, Suna, and the twins to secrecy as he drags them into his quarters at night and forces them to play the part of you in the dance. He wants to pull it off perfectly, for it to be seamless and unsuspecting when he spins you in the air. So people don’t notice that your wings are all for show.
She shoes are the first thing he gifts you as he asks you to come to the ball at the palace, assuring you he has a way that no one will suspect anything. He spends days practicing your walk in them. The small heel being more than you’d ever tried before leads to a couple stumbles and falls. He always catches you. By the time the ball has approached, he has you buzzing in excitement. He leaves you the day before with the newly finished dress and all the accessories he’s had created along with it.
You feel weird, you won’t lie to yourself. You’ve never donned such an elegant garment. The petals that make the dress are made of the softest lavender petals layered along the inside of an pellucid iridescent silk-like fabric. The lavender crystalline decorations that decorated the front of the corset top sparkled and refracted light across the walls of your small home.
Angel sleeves made of the same iridescent silk that lined the rest of your dress laid daintily along your arms, just translucent enough to be able to see the arm bracelets Shinsuke had provided you adorning your forearms. Gold metal that matched the other jewelry, decorated with dainty golden butterflies and flowers, glimmering and twisting around both your arms. The pieces on your ears resembled the same style. Small pins of gold swirling up and around your ears with small lavender gems encrusted into their surface. Even the shoes were gold and matching. Golden dragonflies laid across the toes of them.
By far, however, the part that had shocked you the most, was the heaviness from the back of the dress. Large wings stitched into the back seams of the dress. They looked perfect, real, as if they emerged from beneath the dress. As if they belonged to you.
The wings shimmered as you turned. Light filtering through them to produce purple and pink shadows across the walls. They were upright, as if you could take off with them, a change from the original plan that you were unaware that Shinsuke had made for you.
A knock at your door shook you from the enchantment your reflection was holding you in at the moment. Not fully recognizing yourself beneath the sparkles and ornate jewelry. You expected Shinsuke to greet you when your door opened but were taken aback by the two boys who graced your presence instead.
“Sorry, I was expecting-” You cut yourself off as you looked at the nearly identical boys, nervousness pulling on the seam where your corset reached the skirt of your dress.
“His high-ow.” The brunette rubbed his arm where the black haired boy had jabbed him but quickly cleared his throat and started over. “Shinsuke sent us to escort you.”
The other seemed to pick up on your apprehension, the way your eyes flitted between the two, and yanked who you assumed to be his brother back by a step to seem less imposing. “Shinsuke had to finish his part in setting up the ball.” He explained, his tongue twisting around the partial truth as he stared at you. “I’m Osamu, and this is Atsumu. We’re part of the palace’s court.” Osamu offered you his hand and you tentatively took it, letting him guide you outside of your home.
“No worries, our only job right now is to make sure you get there safely.” Atsumu held his hand out for you to place your other in and they effortlessly lifted you onto the back of one of the spirit foxes that loved you so much.
Your nerves were soothed slightly when you twisted your hands in the fox’s fur, a familiar place for you to be as the three of you set off towards the forest. You tried to prepare yourself to go deeper into the kingdom than you’d ever ventured before. No idea what to expect from the kingdom you’d only ever dreamed of being in. Worried that you would be found out tonight.
Nothing could have prepared you for the sight of the palace. It was larger than anything you’d dreamed up. Copper, gold, and platinum twisted into decorations that graced every wall and arch in elegant designs. Flowers grew off every surface, soft white petals falling now and then into the pathways made of stone.
“Come now, he must be waiting.” Osamu beckoned you down from your seat and you silently thanked him when he helped your dress not get caught on the way. You could hear the music from the courtyard playing as you entered the front gate, your breath catching at every new sight.
“Now,” Atsumu caught your attention as you neared the last archway, “make sure to curtsy when you get to him.”
“Wait, what?” You whipped your head around in confusion to look at him but there was just a mischievous smile on his lips as he bowed slightly and went through the archway, leaving you behind.
“Common courtesy.” Osamu wore the same little smile as he duplicated his brother’s actions and disappeared through the arch.
It took a few deep breaths and a very adamant internal pep talk for you to work up the courage to walk through the archway yourself. Pushing the vines that acted like a curtain out of the way you slowly saw the party coming into view.
Faeries were walking and flying from one spot to another. Laughter and cheering came from small groups and chatter filled the empty air. The smile that grew on your face was inevitable. You’d never seen so many faeries in the same place before.
Shinsuke caught sight of you before you’d seen him. His heart seemed to jump into his throat, the simple golden crown sat heavy on his head. He was sure he could pass it for normal, a few of the other faeries wearing headpieces to the ball as well. But you looked stunning. He was sure, if he wasn’t already in love with you, he would have fallen for you on the spot.
The light from the fireflies that lit up the courtyard seemed to bounce off you every time you turned, sending your sparkles across the crowd. He nervously toyed with the headpiece he held at his side as he stepped down from his spot on the steps. The crowd parted for him easily, giving him quicker access to you.
Your attention was drawn by your name being called. Shinsuke looked like he walked straight out of your dreams. In a lavender suit with golden patterns of swirls. A small crown of golden leaves laid on top of his silver hair. His eyes were glued to you. It felt like even the crowd parted for the two of you to meet.
You let out a soft ‘oh’ as you got to him, nearly forgetting what the twins had told you to do. The soft curtsy you gave made Shinsuke’s cheeks heat up slightly as he smiled at you.
“You look enchanting.” He breathed the words out as he looked at you eyes shining as he admired the way the dress looked on you. There weren’t enough words in his vocabulary to express how beautiful he thought you were. “I have one thing I forgot to give you.”
You saw the gold as he lifted it towards your head. A diadem made from dainty golden leaves. Encrusted with lavender colored jewels and decorated with golden dragonflies just like your shoes. He placed the headpiece delicately on the top of your head before stepping back to admire you in full.
“You look really nice, Shin.”
“You look like everything I’ve ever dreamed of.” The sentiment makes a blush settle on your cheeks, warmth blooming against the cold air as he bows towards you, offering his hand for you to take. “Will you do me the pleasure of dancing with me?” A smile plays on his lips as you place your hand in his and let him lead you towards the floor.
It’s like stepping into your home, when you feel Shinsuke pull you into his arms on the dance floor. It’s all a fairytale, being with him here, but the nervousness still settles across your skin like the whispers do among the crowd. You can feel the eyes on the two of you as you follow his lead, gliding across the floor daintily.
“Shinsuke,” your whisper is barely heard above the strings of the music as the two of you dance, “they’re all staring.” Your eyes flit nervously across the still crowd, connecting briefly with a few pairs of eyes, strangers who you’ve never seen before. “They know the wings are fake, don’t they?”
Shinsuke’s laugh is soft and it calms your nerves as his palm smoothes over your waist, fingers spreading to reach just under the base of the faux wings. “No, they’re staring because you’re the most beautiful thing they’ve ever laid eyes on.” He leans to dip you, spinning at the same time and your eyes flutter. It feels like an illusion, the crowd letting out a collective gasp as your dress flares out around you and Shinsuke. “Do you trust me?” He asks as he lifts you back to him, arm winding your waist, keeping you closer than before.
“With my life.” You don’t think before the words tumble from your lips, true feelings spilling straight from your soul into your voicebox.
You barely notice it at first. You’re too lost in the feeling of warmth between the two of you, lost in the glimmer of his eyes. It isn’t until he dips you again that you notice your feet aren’t on the ground anymore, that the faeries surrounding you were lower, staring at the two of you in awe. A sudden wave of euphoria takes over your body as Shinsuke effortlessly twirls you, keeping the two of you suspended.
A crescendo in the music has other couples joining you in the air. It’s a flurry of spinning dresses and fireflies that dip between couples. Wings that flutter and sparkle under the lights, refracting diamond-like reflections along the gardens and the slopes of the vine-covered walls. You’re lost in the beauty of it all and Shinsuke is lost in the beauty of you. He’s in love with this, being able to show you off, to love you openly in front of his entire kingdom.
Perhaps the domino gowns of s5...they....they need a bit of love 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Couldn’t not upload my favorite pairs too while they’re in such nice attire, as a treat
Anyway, bestie these were WILD to look at
Redesigning these meant trying my best to keep certain shapes, and then saying fuck it for most of them and just lore dumping through dresswear instead
Musa, Flora, and Tecna are in nice formal wear with some traditional elements and general stuff representative of their respective homes as guardian fairies and members of the winx and Stella, Aisha, and Bloom are wearing formal wear that’s drenched in years of political context and a lot of it with handed down elements select to the leaders of the body of government
Stella’s is a hodgepodge of her own selection and custom tailoring and Aisha’s is a more modern take on traditional elements that she prefers her royal stylist to stick to as a way to stay on trend and match with what she likes
Lore stuff and some explanations for changed that I feel like justifying below the cut if you’re interested!:)
For Musa I went more Ming dynasty and tried a longer skirt but it just didn’t really look right to me, so pants it is. The only thing I ended up keeping from her og dress was a line down the middle on the upper part of the outfit.
Aisha has the green gem featured in her crown (the one for the heir of Androsia) and her parent’s headwear as I’ve featured in other pieces and has been shown in between the two diamond jewels in the same formal wear pieces and as is shown on her bracelets. I realized I never specified what those are symbolic of ahaaa
The two diamonds are for the land and the sea, each equal in size and color for the symbolism of equal emphasis and importance in the standing of the government, with the green circle being where they touch. The Diamond shape is to represent each form reaching for each other and outwards, encompassing all around it, and the dot where they drop into each other, making the surface of the sea. Aisha as heir is currently meant to represent this unity as she is the result of Land and Sea symbolically through her parents with the way Androsian government works, and she is meant to currently do what she can to represent all her subjects’ interests before she takes her final place as the representative for the Land Androsi (if she does take that position at all actually because there’s some political turmoil in my thing with how government works rn that I talk about some in this post but shhhh we’ll figure that out later)
Tecna’s is a purple girlie.
There are lots of natural ways to dye things purple on Zenith (they do a lot of it synthetically or magically now) so lots of traditional stuff is purple and lucky for Tecna, they, like anyone who loves purple, isn’t normal about the color and enjoys a lot of traditional Zenithian garb as a result since a lot of it has that.
Flora was much easier to do and less time consuming because she’s already a floral person and I could translate the shape easily into something close to traditional Lymphean garb from her area. The only shame here is I originally thought it would be nice to keep it more teal and green heavy since she so rarely gets the chance to wear those colors in canon when compared to her more pink heavy color palette, but I ended up caving to purplish petals instead.
Bloom is doing The Most here, and I wanted to intentionally make her kind of awkward in terms of hair size compared to her body and fit in particular. Bloom doesn’t do much with her hair usually outside of a half up half down, but she has her mom’s fiery red locks and she is doing her first Official Royal Outing and not only is she going to dress to the 9s in a way that is over the top by most modern government standings, wearing as many official emblematic bits, shapes, and references to the royal body as possible, she wants to channel some of what Marion has as an expert diplomat and make her proud and she thinks looking like her might help. I feel like Marion has the genuine confidence, zeal, and presence through decades of experience and proper study and general demeanor to pull off the big hair though whereas Bloom is basically doing the equivalent of trying on her parents big shoes when she’s a toddler. It looks more like dress up on her than it does an actual fitting look for her first attempt at politicking (and Diaspro does point this out to Bloom, and while it is meant to be snide, it’s also meant to be her way of trying to tell her she’s trying too hard and she shouldn’t. Her and Bloom have a decent acquaintanceship of sorts at this point. They’re never going to be best buds but they don’t hate each other or hold any ill will. Their personalities clash though and they know their limits with each other at this current point in their relationship. No Diaspro Sky Bloom bullshit here thanks) and she’s anxious and insecure and desperately wants to make her Dominion parents proud, especially because of her insecurities for the obvious (didn’t grow up royal, new to magic, still scene as the legacy child for Domino even though it’s been newly resurrected, also meaning this is it’s first big foray back into the Magical Realm’s political sphere and it HAS to show they’re still a capable powerhouse, which is also part of why the meeting is being held on Domino too, as a courtesy favor from the other governments involved in The Infinite Ocean stuff to help get its foot back in the door), but most importantly, because she’s not Daphne, and that’s a sore subject at this current time.
For Stella, I managed to keep some shapes from the og dress, but it’s very slight. Stella at this point is big on embracing her moon heritage as well and advocating more for causes beyond just Solarian government stuff, as in the government body that lumps Lunarian stuff in with it, and is working hard on raising Lunarian interests as separate things, reenforcing the idea that their culture and people are separate but equal despite the attempted assimilation under the planet of Solaria itself, an assimilation that still hasn’t been fully stopped or systematically eradicated. She has charisma and charm to spare and is taking the actual nitty gritty “not so fun” parts of politics (ie actual info on sociocultural and socioeconomic trends, trade info, statistics and projected trends, etc. basically all the stuff that isn’t “show up to parties and mingle”) much more seriously now and is wanting to make proper and viable change in multiple areas of her future government, and she’s working on properly finding her footing in the world of direct action and political savvy maneuvering through proper head on negotiations.
With regards to the ML season 5 finale:
I’ve seen some people bemoan Marinette for letting her guard down in front of Gabriel since that enabled him to make his Wish—a classic case of the hero being stupid because the plot needed it happen. But actually? I think it was the very fact that she did let her guard down that helped save the world.
Ladybug has always been shown as being a compassionate person, and this became more pronounced when she started handing out protective charms and giving the akumatized victims the encouragement they needed to help fight back against succumbing to their negative emotions. (side note: I will admit I previously thought it was weird when the show kept having her hand these out after Shadowmoth figured out how to break them, but after the group effort of everyone using their charms to help Prof. Damocles, I realized that they were showing that continued effort to be kind was the right thing to do, even when those efforts failed, because in aggregate it will help things get better).
Marinette is someone who has learned to see and recognize others when they’re at their lowest and support them, and when she realizes that her archenemy is just as human as all the villains she’s faced before, she shows him compassion too. And Gabriel responds to it! Moments before, he was raving about having his perfect universe with his perfect family, with Adrien and Kagami being the iconic perfect couple as its crowning jewel. It’s Marinette who brings him back down to reality and gives him the wake-up call he’s sorely needed—and she can only do that by, not confronting him and judging him, but honestly empathizing with him. She has all the power to crush him and he knows it, so when she instead responds with understanding and reminds him of what Emilie really wanted, the simple truth of it breaks his resolve to get everything he wants—and with that clarity he is finally able to stop being in denial about Emilie’s death and prioritize the happiness Adrien made for himself over what Gabriel thought was best for him.
Naturally, the second that even a hint of a solution pops up, Gabe falls back into his old patterns of grasping at slim chances, but when he does? He doesn’t have the same goals anymore. When he makes the Wish, whatever his heart and soul asked for didn’t include his perfect vision that forced everyone into their boxes of what he thought was right. It saved Nathalie (whose illness was directly caused by Gabriel’s wrongdoings as Hawkmoth, so it’s understandable he’d still want to set that right), and it may or may not have saved Emilie (I personally think that he didn’t, but we’ll see), but Gabriel wasn’t part of that world and Adrien was free to live his life on his own terms. That would not have happened if Gabriel had gotten his hands on the ring and earrings before Marinette helped him change, just enough, to let his obsession go.
Marinette may have made some mistakes in the finale, but being the person who helps others isn’t one of them. There’s a reason Ladybug is considered the greatest hero in the Miraculous universe: it’s not just because she saves the day, but because she inspires people—even those who have hurt her—to choose to become better. The fact that she did so with Gabriel “Monarch” Agreste is pretty amazing in my book.
Jewels of Takarazuka – Yuzuka Rei-san [Flower Troupe] (from Fujingaho May Issue)
This series documents the words of Takarazuka Top Stars, and their strength of living in the current age and Yuzuka Rei of Flower Troupe appears on this month’s issue.  Like a king that shines ever brightly on stage, Yuzuka-san appears on the photoshoot scene and we compliment her for having a flawless beauty like a deer in the wild. Then when she’s standing in front of the camera now, it seems like some kind of story is about to begin… Yuzuka-san speaks with carefully woven words and with a soft voice, talks about what she is thinking now.
Even if the acting is decided already every day, I just love presenting a new vibe to it
The one we admire in Shoujo Manga, the piano magician with fervent fans, the Broadway Star Dancer. With her gorgeous visual and delicate acting, Yuzuka-san brings such beautiful characters you couldn’t see in reality to life. If you watch her stage performances, you’d see that the world of dreams is here now……That’s what I firmly believe. When we interviewed Yuzuka-san, she was challenging to perform the famous work in Takarazuka Revue, the renowned musical of “MAYERLING”. It is about the tragic love story between Austria Crown Prince Rudolf and his lover Mary Vetsera. Yuzuka-san used to express it uniquely, “I don’t want [my performance] to look like it was cultivated artificially but to deliver one that is naturally moving”, so how did she feel when she was working on this famous musical?
“I’ve said that, haven’t I (LOL). I really like fresh air. So in the world that I’m portraying, even though we’d be doing the same things every day… That’s quite the opposite of what I said [about natural acting] (LOL). But even if we’re doing the same things every day, those first encounters and experiences are different every time. In contrast, even though it may be the first time I’m seeing some audience, I can feel that they’re the important people who’ve always known me… Performers and the audience can create some feelings and reactions together that not even we can imagine, and that’s something that I always find enjoyable. The premiere of this performance was 40 years ago. Even though there’s a little change in direction, the prologue song and the choreography was similar to how it was back then. I’d act according to what I understand from the whole setup of the musical. I won’t think about what I think is correct, instead I’ll continue to question my interpretation and delve into it more to act while thinking about it.”
In this musical with such intensity, you’d have to build up so much strength for the ending…
“Amidst the intensity and while continuing to maintain focused, there’s a unique kind of energy in musicals, surprisingly I’m not too overwhelmed by that. But while that builds up and accumulates densely, I think it’s difficult to overcome the “gap” or that “space” when [the tension] couldn’t build up well. Or maybe I should say, that it feels like those Jenga building blocks…… But the concentration the audience have for this musical is higher than before, so I felt that they also helped us create this ambience for us together.”
I want to walk a path that won’t feel like I’m betraying myself
This is perhaps the charm that’s only unique in live performances.
But in these 3 years, the previous situation was still unstable and as a leader she led the troupe to overcome very tough circumstances.
“I really thought that while I’ve been learning, I’ve already walked this far. Even in the same scenarios, I’ve come to learn that depending on people’s circumstances, there would be different feelings and the way we approach things also change. I know that it’s not good to just evaluate things while thinking only of ourselves. If everything was successful, I think it might be difficult to have the experience where everyone aims at “facing wholeheartedly towards stage performances” together…… so I thought I acquired a lot [during this time.] Whatever something happens, I want to be the person that people can trust in. Even if I covered it up, only I would know how I have dealt with that problem. Sometimes I may not know if I’ve made a wrong decision, and I won’t even know if that would be the best decision for that time, yet there must be something that I could learn from in failure. That’s why, I’ve decided not to do things that would make me lose confidence in myself. I often say be confident in yourself, but it’s difficult to believe in yourself without evidence. “Trust” might be a slightly different word, but I don’t try to deceive myself, instead I worked hard for it desperately… I wish I could feel that way without any hesitation,  and I would want to say that my underclassmen self when I was still trying to find that confidence.”
That delicate and soft feeling may be different from what she said a few years ago about “wanting to face my weaknesses earnestly”.
“When we act, we think about humans, but it’s difficult to comment on whether they’re strong and weak. If they’re “weak”, they may seem negative at first glance, but they also may be someone that has great observation, a profound imagination,  and that they sincerely care only for a particular something. So “strengths” and “weaknesses” are two sides of a coin. If one believes too much that “I am strong”, that may instead lead to this pushing force that overwhelms oneself. So I’d say, it’s fine to be weak. Because humans are not born to be perfect. Rest a little, recover yourself, find your strategy to face your next task. When you find that strategy, if someone else has troubles, you could then help them. When I was playing as Rudolf, I really felt how greatly people impact others. That’s probably why I have such thought.”
Embracing her internal weaknesses with that resilient strength bestows her with the persuasion capacity on stage. Perhaps the Flower Troupe stage performances she lead will continue to shine radiantly.
MY JEWEL ~The jewel of the heart~
Tumblr media
This is a photo of my nephew and my dog. “Even though they don’t always meet, but when they do, they’d always take a walk. My dog loves my nephew and is always smiling. My nephew leads the dog carefully like an adult when they walk together and I can slowly feel his growth. Now as I’m playing as Rudolf, I’d have to say, “Because of everyone’s great love, I have also progressed and grown.”
Next stage: Musical Romance “A Battlefield for the Two of Us” (Author/Director: Masatsuka Haruhiko)
Tumblr media
In a stage of a fictitious federation formed by numerous autonomous states, this is about a young military officer with burning passions and how he struggles between the gap of the country and the individual, portraying his story of an “unacceptable” love and great friendship. Yuzuka-san says, “It’s very interesting learning from the rehearsal of Masatsuka (Hirohiko)-sensei’s musical. “War” is still sometimes that is relevant to us in this age, so I will cherish the importance of performing this production and do my best to create this production.”
