maisie is sooo baby butch. I look at her and I see someone who is about to fall in love with her girl best friend and have the worst sexuality crisis. in two years she’s going to cut all her hair off and invest in a baggy pants + work boots combo look.
claire will know before she can even consider it (bisexual feminist gaydar) and owen will not realize until maisie tells them outright (straight man gaydar). claire will tell him of her suspicions and he’ll be like “idk her style isn’t that different than zia or kayla’s. it’s in fashion these days” in complete earnest forcing her to give him A Look. he also suggested getting franklin a girlfriend once so claire was really just setting herself up.
maisie’ll be like “okay guys don’t make a big deal about this but I’m actually only into girls” and claire will be like I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT love you honey I KNEW IT and owen will be like door-stays-open rule applies to all genders.
she will be showered in absolutely egregious rainbow items and owen will buy an I LOVE MY GAY DAUGHTER shirt that maisie refuses to let him wear in public. he is going to anyways because he does love his gay daughter. just like the I LOVE MY BISEXUAL WIFE mug gets mileage. maisie hits her limit when he starts watching ellen to “learn more about gay culture”.
with claire nothing really changes because again she’s been eagerly anticipating this. maisie realizes belatedly this is why claire was always playing shit like xena warrior princess and buffy the vampire slayer on weekends.
maisie will ask him how to get a girl to notice her and he’ll have to be like “just because I landed your mom does NOT mean I know HOW I did it”. because in his mind he kind of just bothered her until she gave him the time of day and he cannot ethically encourage that. claire will be equally unhelpful with “be yourself” lines. maisie is doomed. luckily for maisie, her mother has a medical condition where she can only befriend homosexuals (zia, franklin, kayla). they give her also terrible but more useful advice like shave half your head and invest in leather jackets.
maisie’s first pride is deeply traumatizing. twinks keep assuming her father is a bear and hitting on him while telling claire she’s “serving major cunt” and just seeing her is a “try not to say MOTHER challenge”. to make things worse, claire’s natural canonical butch-stud magnetism is working over time. owen is fighting for his life while a sea of beautiful masculine women toss his wife around like she’s a basketball. she scores both zia and kayla dates that night. all in all a very lovely day that they end with a drag show dinner performance.
eventually maisie will find a beautiful girlfriend and she’ll be terrorized in a similar way with owen’s new “my daughter’s not gay but her girlfriend is” hat. the more they complain the funnier he thinks it is. claire chides him but she secretly thinks it’s a funny bit.

books i read in mar 2024
Tumblr media
[these are all short + casual reviews - feel free to ask about individual ones if u want my full thoughts or ask for my goodreads!!]
great pace for february! i’m in the complete opposite of a reading slump where i’m loving everything that i read 🤗
dark heir - c.s. pacat ★★★★★ (fantasy)
i don't know what it is about c.s. pacat's writing that makes character beats just hit so brutally hard but man, i wish i had it. i was absolutely insane while reading this book and i can't wait for the next in the series!!
the tainted cup - robert jackson bennett ★★★★☆ (fantasy mystery)
fantasy sherlock-and-watson is already a strong starting point but the world was really the fascinating part of this book! a civilization that experiences a recurring apocalypse is .. topical, to say the least, and RJB certainly believes in the fantastical serving the real
if an egyptian cannot speak english - noor naga ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
i love books about messy people in messy circumstances .. still unsure how i feel about the ending but damn if the author doesn't know exactly what she's going for
delicious in dungeon vols. 1-3 - ryoko kui ★★★★☆ (fantasy)
the anime seems to be a pretty true adaptation, but tbh there's a babygirl quality that is much more present on the printed page
swimming in the dark - tomasz jedrowski ★★★★☆ (historical)
extremely similar vibes to call me by your name so if you want more of the deeply moving gay european experience, it's here!
sadie - courtney summers ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
strong, evocative writing grounded in a gritty realism. it nails the catharsis but man, it is not a happy read
a scatter of light - malinda lo ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
great character work, i really enjoyed aria as a teenage MC. it was also very interesting to read this as a companion book to last night at the telegraph club and see the style and story transposed across the decades!
the death of vivek oji - akwaeke emezi ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
beautiful, flowery writing. it meanders but it's a book that demands patience from the first page, and it's worth the effort
parachutes - kelly yang ★★★★☆ (contemporary)
pretty serviceable YA except that the first third reads like it's from a completely different book lol so many things just get dropped but it's fun and an easy read
civil service - claire schwartz ★★★☆☆ (contemporary, poetry)
some poems were great, some poems read like they were directly off of twitter. i did like the visual aspect of this collection!
lavender house & the bell in the fog - lev a.c. rosen ★★★☆☆ (historical, mystery)
i'll read pretty much any mystery and a historical series with a gay lead is definitely enough to catch my attention! the historical context is fascinating and works at interesting odds with the genre - what is "justice" if you're locked outside of the system to start?
the midnight library - matt haig ★★★☆☆ (contemporary)
fine conceptually but it feels like the most basic and boring way this concept could possibly be written
no one can know - kate alice marshall ★★☆☆☆ (thriller)
totally uninventive domestic thriller without a shred of sense!
[DNF] the cooking gene - michael w. twitty ★★★☆☆ (nonfiction, memoir, food)
here is a man who loves a list! he loves commas! he loves packing ten different ideas into one paragraph! it was a fascinating read but too dense for someone (me) unfamiliar with the subject matter

If you have the time can you please please please recap season 4 of riverdale. I was going to binge it on Netflix but things happen and then I saw your post about the graduation episode and HAD to watch that happen and now I’m recommitted to the cause and need to know what happened while I was gone
sure. okay so the season sadly starts with the death of fred andrews in a very sentimental and moving episode that’s kind of seperate from the rest of the show so it’s not really until episode two that things kick off. the riverteens are kind of thriving in a parentless world because milf alice was kidnapped by a cult, dilf hiram and milf hermione are in prison, milf penelope is in hiding after killing a bunch of people, milf mary is kind of just There, milf gladys went back to toledo after her drug empire failed, god knows what milf sierra and gay kevin’s straight former cop dad are off doing, and dilf fp is the sheriff but because it’s fp he’s kind of bad at it. so the riverteens are horrified when their new principal mr honey expects them to be at school on time and disapproves of them throwing school dances because students keep getting murdered at them. cheryl, who an episode prior never wanted anyone in riverdale to celebrate the 4th of july ever again because of her brother’s death, considers this an act of oppression and throws a party at her house. however, as she is keeping her brother’s mummified corpse in the basement, she gets angry when reggie tries to sneak down there. meanwhile gay kevin is trying to make amends with betty for the time he tried to have her lobotomised because of the cult led by chad michael murray. betty uses this to her advantage to find out where the cult is, teaming up with her half brother, charles (not to be confused with chic, who was only PRETENDING to be charles back in season two). archie gets munroe, his prison buddy, to attend riverdale high, and reggie is weirdly jealous about it. archie discovers that this is because reggie is being abused by his father, so they smash in his car and apparently this solves everything. jughead starts attending stonewall prep, where he meets bret weston wallis, donna sweett, joan berkeley, and jonathan. he also reunites with moose, who disappeared in mid s3 after cheryl outed him to the whole school including his homophobic dad, and then his homophobic dad dressed up as the gargoyle to try and stop moose and gay kevin hooking up in the sex bunker they stole from dilton doiley after he killed himself, but it turns out that his homophobic dad was just angry HE never got to fuck gay kevin’s straight cop dad back in the day. it was this whole thing. anyway, moose is like “i’m going by my real name, marmaduke now, so people don’t find out about my dad” but everyone does anyway and so moose mysteriously disappears again. betty finds out where the cult is (after disarming a bomb attached to her sister polly using a bobby pin) and goes to rescue her mother. milf alice reveals that chad michael murray is using the cult money to build a rocket, and his wife/fake daughter evelyn is going to drive a bus full of cultists off a cliff. the day is saved! veronica finds out that her father’s real surname is luna and decides to start going by that as an act of rebellion because he keeps leaving the prison that he owns to fuck with her after she had him arrested. archie decides to turn his gym into a community centre with munroe’s help. cheryl, who, for unknown reasons, obtained custody of polly’s twins, immediately fires the nanny that toni hired because he said there were probably rats in the walls and went into the basement. cheryl goes to make sure that the nanny didn’t interfere with her brother’s mummified corpse, and toni walks in on her stitching him up. videotapes start arriving at the homes of the riverdale residents of said homes being filmed for hours. onto halloween! toni tells cheryl they can’t have a dead body in the horse and makes her rebury jason, at which point cheryl claims she is being haunted by a doll named julian, who is supposedly possessed by the spirit of her other brother that she ate in utero, but the haunting will stop if they unbury jason. toni agrees, but the doll continues to appear in weird places, and cheryl is forced to confess that while she WAS gaslighting her before, she isn’t right now. betty bonds with charles while receiving prank phone calls from polly, who is now in a mental institution. archie and munroe try to throw a halloween party at their community centre for the troubled youths but it’s interrupted by a drug dealing gang trying to start shit in the parking lot, thus giving archie a new enemy. reggie destroys mr honey’s office for the joke but mr honey catches him and is like “you do this because your dad hits you.” jughead uncovers mysteries surrounding strange disappearances of prep students known as “the stonewall four,” and donna drugs him so she and bretjoanjonathan can lock him in a coffin overnight as a bit. meanwhile, veronica burns a man alive in her basement. archie becomes a teen vigilante for the millionth time in the series, jughead and the other stonewall stags go into the running to be the ghostwriter for the baxter brothers franchise, veronica gets her mother out of prison but then finds out that her half sister, hermosa the PI, got their father out of prison, and he is now mayor again. betty and gay kevin start an fbi training course in which betty realises the serial killer gene is a real thing and she does have it, and remembers when she killed her childhood cat. jughead finds out that his grandfather who drunk himself to death but also abandoned fp but is also just some guy ACTUALLY wrote the baxter brothers franchise and is like “i have to reveal this!” so he takes it to his english teacher mr chipping but then mr chipping jumps out of a window before anything can come of it, and jughead is horrified when the stonewall stags have no reaction. cheryl is still convinced she is being haunted by a doll and things are further complicated when her extended family shows up. her uncle discovers jason’s body in the basement, threatens to send cheryl away, and is killed by toni. speaking of death, archie is still on his vigilante shit and asks hiram for help, at which point the near dead body of the gang leader, dodger shows up wrapped in carpet outside of the community centre. betty visits chic in prison to find out more about charles, and when chic threatens to reveal where milf alice buried the man she killed back in season two, charles and fp go to dig it up again and move it somewhere else. to get her family away from her and also in the spirit of thanksgiving, cheryl makes them think that they ate her uncle. dodger’s family show up at the community centre thanksgiving for revenge and there’s almost a shoot out, but thankfully the deep fryer explodes and chaos is avoided! milf mary later suggests the deep fryer exploding was archie’s dead dad’s ghost. betty and jughead spend the weekend at stonewall prep, where they play a homoerotic game of never have i ever with bret and donna. donna says that she and mr chipping were having an affair. now it’s time for the gang to go to therapy: archie gets diagnosed with gay but is also just suffering from an insane guilt complex, betty has mommy issues, veronica has daddy issues, cheryl is being gaslit but did NOT eat her brother in utero, jughead is just some guy. jughead finds out where his abusive alcoholic grandfather has been hiding out, and meanwhile his dad gets shot. veronica decides to fight back against her father by starting a rival rum business. polly rips off a nurse’s face and betty finds out that everyone in her family has a trigger word instilled in them by the cult, so she imagines herself going back in time to STOP her child self killing her cat to learn how to control it. cheryl uncovers her gaslighter by literally gassing her house, and it’s revealed that milf penelope was living in the walls and mad that cheryl had jason’s body. cheryl reburies jason and imprisons her mother in the sex bunker. archie’s uncle shows up, just in time for football season! the riverteens are playing stonewall prep, and reggie reveals that the preppies fight dirty, just in time for them to tonya harding munroe’s knees as he is their star player. archie’s uncle gives munroe steroids so he can play anyway, and riverdale loses but munroe gets a scholarship. cheryl feuds with her new cheerleading coach and locks her in her office so she has a panic attack. hiram threatens to sue veronica for stealing his rum recipe, so she teams up with cheryl (maple syrup queen) to create a new type. jughead joins the stonewall prep secret society, the quill and skull, and reveals that he watched a homeless man die. also, the cheerleading team performs cherry bomb. betty starts feuding with bret and decides to stand off against him in a quiz show, and although she wins, she is accused of cheating and is forced to give it up. she also wanted to use this to try and get into yale because apparently “cooper” is an uncommon name and people associate it with her serial killer father. veronica and cheryl enlist milf penelope and her former brothel in a hotel to run their underground rum dealership after hiram kept fucking shit up at veronica’s speakeasy. jughead is forced to come up with new stories for his baxter brother books, and so he writes about betty’s serial killer father (uh oh!) archie tries to restart his father’s construction company but his uncle’s shenanigans make it hard and gay kevin’s straight former cop dad has HAD IT. fangs is back from cult recovery, but gay kevin has gotten into non sexual tickle porn. toni and fangs get in on this they use this to blackmail nick st clair after he returns and understandably upsets cheryl, his would be rape victim. archie is attacked in the bathrooms at school because his uncle can’t mind his own business, but this plot was fucking boring so i don’t remember most of it. jughead and bret decided to duel, because of course, and betty uses this as a chance to investigate the preppies further. she finds out that bret films sex tapes and blackmailed moose with one, and also has one of her and jughead. she also finds a video suggesting donna lied about her affair with mr chipping. veronica goes to new york to visit katy keene, played by lucy hale of fantasy island fame, who tells her that her mother is dying. veronica returns home just in time to hear that hiram has a mysterious disease and decides to make amends. jughead is accused of plagiarism, meanwhile veronica realises her father thrives off war, and continues their rum battle. archie is now drinking at school and veronica accuses mr honey of being a fascist for having a problem with it. BUT. MOST IMPORTANTLY. ALL SEASON WE HAVE BEEN TEASED WITH DEADHEAD. AND IT IS FINALLY HAPPENING. IDES OF MARCH PARTY AT STONEWALL PREP. AND BETTY BASHES JUGHEAD’S HEAD IN WITH A ROCK. betty tries to prove that the stonewall stags did it instead but donna is an insane lesbian and thrives off gaslighting and fucking with her. because jughead died, betty gets his spot at yale. the core four are accused of murder but cleared of everything. jughead has a funeral, and bret’s attempt of proving jughead isn’t in the casket are thwarted by the sweet pea, the sweetest pea in the room. hiram shows up just to fire fp as sheriff. betty kisses archie to help with her grief, and veronica ends things with them both. but donna is not convinced, and goes around stalking betty, saying she watched her sex tape and knows that betty couldn’t last so long without sex with jughead. and she is right! because lo and behold, jughead is alive and hiding in the sex bunker, despite donna’s best attempts to catch them out. donna knows they’re up to something and implies she killed jonathan when bret doubts her. betty and archie are like “yeah we only dated for the bit :/” but their texting implies it was...more. betty and jughead return to stonewall and expose the preppies, but they decide not to interview jonathan because he “has food poisoning.” or he’s dead. their other teacher kills himself, and fp reunites with his abusive father. betty discovers that donna’s grandmother was one of the people killed for the rights to the baxter brothers/tracy true franchise, and the entire scheme was a complicated revenge plot by donna to get back at their teacher for killing her grandmother. betty blackmails her with this information so donna can’t have the tracy true contract, and everything is “wrapped up” just in time for gay kevin to announce he’s doing a variety show. gay kevin’s intentions of performing hedwig are destroyed when mr honey is like “no, this is inappropriate for high schoolers,” and so the riverteens decide to band together and have everyone perform hedwig songs as an act of protest. meanwhile, betty and jughead fight because jughead didn’t do his homework because he was too busy watching the stalker vhs tapes, and veronica and archie fight because he lied about her father working out at his gym, given that hiram has tried to kill him multiple times and doesn’t really care about his health. betty and archie use this as an opportunity to kiss during origin of love. the variety show is cancelled, but the core four and gay kevin perform midnight radio on the roof, and jughead watches a stalker vhs tape of someone in a betty mask killing someone in a jughead mask. tickle porn shenanigans continue, and gay kevin is threatened over cheating his original tickle porn handler out of money. mr honey then forces them to shut the website down. cheryl leaves the rum business after her mother is threatened because of goons that were mad at hiram. hiram decides to deal with this by going after said goons. archie writes a song for betty, they explore their relationship further, but she picks jughead over him even when he says he’ll dump veronica for her. jughead discovers that ethel watched his and betty’s sex tape, and he and charles uncover blue velvet video, which houses sexy films and snuff films, and jughead is like “oh this is connected to the whole vhs stalker thing.” cheryl is sent a video of someone dressed up as her father killing someone dressed up as her brother. the riverteens turn their focus to the fact that all of them except archie and jughead have been banned from prom for various reasons, and betty suggests they kill mr honey as punishment. jughead writes an elaborate murder fantasy about them doing so, and also kills off reggie and drives cheryl insane for the bit i guess. the riverteens conclude that mr honey was behind the vhs stalker tapes and have him fired, and he tells them they’re all deranged before going to teach at stonewall prep. the school secretary tells them all the wonderful things mr honey did for the school and hands jughead a recommendation letter he wrote him for college. jughead realises they fucked up and rewrites his story so mr honey lives, but uh oh! he and betty uncover a vhs tape of their fictional murder of mr honey, much like the others.
and that’s what you missed on riverdale!

Claire has had the biggest crush on Harry Styles since eighth grade, now he notices her but it’s for the wrong reason.
Word count 10.1k
“Fuck baby!” Harry pants as he catches Claire running towards him. She was coming from the bleachers, holding onto the big sign with his name on it.
“Congratulations!” She smiles as her arms wrap around his neck. He lifts her up and spins her in a circle. His sweat sticking onto her skin as he took an inhale of her sweet perfume. “You played so great tonight!”
“I was so stressed I thought we were going to lose the game but I glanced at you in the bleachers.” Harry smiles as he sets her down. “You’re so fucking cute, you know that right?” He takes her chin in his hand so he can lean forward to kiss her.
“I’m your number 1 fan.” She bites her lip as she smiles. “And you know...you looked really good.” Her cheeks flush as she compliments him. She’s been in love with him since 8th grade! How did she get so lucky to be his girlfriend? To be standing in the bleachers cheering him on as she wore his sweater?
---
“Hello?” The familiar voice whispers. “Earth to Claire?” Claire blinks her eyes as she falls out of her daydream.
It’s high school and just like every cliché movie, Claire had a major crush on one of the most popular guys in her grade. Harry Styles. The boy sat next to her in AP Bio and although he barely spoke to her, her heart somehow always fluttered when she would get a whiff of his cologne or when she would make eye contact with him on the field. Funny thing is Harry was on the football team with her brother, Tom. So when she would stay after school for her ride home, she couldn’t help but focus a bit more on the cute boy.
“Are you okay?” Hannah asks as she takes a spoonful of her fried rice. “I was literally mentioning how we should come back tonight and watch the senior boys’ football game-” She chewed on her food a bit more as she notices her best friend staring at the table behind them. Following Claire’s gaze, it was the group of boys from their grade. Since lunches were split between grades and Claire and Hannah always chose to sit near the middle, they always had a clear view of the athletic boys who were having their meals at the circle in front of the big windows.
Harry was sitting on the table with his elbows on his thighs as he laughed at Niall Horan’s joke. The rest of the boys were Jack Norton, Samuel Donevy, Mark Randers, and Kai Dowery. Not all of them were on the senior football team but they played other sports and probably had the highest record of dating the girls at their school… except for Harry. He was quiet and he never showed any interest in a girl. Maybe he’s gay? Claire thinks from time to time.
I mean she’s been observing him since 8th grade. She would look at what snacks he would eat during break time, what sweater he would wear for the week. For God’s sake! Claire started eating oranges while walking back and forth in front of him. She was hoping he would ask for a slice. She thought she looked cute as she peeled her orange walking back and forth. From the corner of her eye, she noticed him staring at her. Maybe, he wondered what she was thinking? Or maybe, he thought her red oversized flannel looked cute on her? … Wrong!
Harry watched her during his break time while he ate the small cookies from the bag in his hands. What the fuck is Claire doing? Can she stop? Holy shit, I would aim perfectly if I hit her in the head with my shoe! Can she choke now, please?
I guess that’s how it’s always been since Claire met Harry. When he first transferred to her school, she fell in love with him but Harry paid no mind to her. Instead, she was just some random girl who he’s known for three years.
“You’re staring again.” Hannah throws a pea at Claire. In retaliation, Claire throws it back as it lands near her elbow.
“They’re just in my line of sight.” She scoffs as she takes a sip of her water. “And yes, we can go watch them tonight but we can’t head to the after-party. I need to study for my chem test tomorrow.”
“What? Claire, how else are we going to have fun? I told Brooke, we were going.” Claire wasn’t just friends with Hannah. They had a bigger friend group of 5 but she and Hannah were obviously the closest. The other girls were at their club meetings.
“Go with Brooke then? I’ll just uber home.” Claire packs up her container. She stands up to throw their garbage in the trash bin before coming back. “You know, I don’t want to let you down like this.”
“Sis, you would only stay home tonight if it wasn’t Harry Styles on the football team.” Hannah teases as they get ready to leave. “At least you’re coming to the game.”
~
“Tom!” Claire runs to her older brother. Hannah and Brook were already sitting in the bleachers as the game was starting in 30 minutes.
“What?” He snaps back. He was sitting on the bench, taking a sip of his water watching the other boys warm up.
“I’m just letting you know, I’m going to uber home tonight. I’m not going to the after-party.” She had to tell her brother where she was going after the game. Ever since their mom and dad divorced, Tom was in charge of his little sister. He had to drive her to places and make sure he knew where she was. It’s been their routine. Hannah would drive from home and to the party. He would meet her at the party so they can drive home together but it seemed like tonight was not the case.
“You don’t need to.” He takes his sister’s sweater and rubs his sweat on it.
“Tom!” She calls out his name in disgust.
“The party is at our house tonight.”
“What about Ben’s?”
“Renovation.”
“But what about mo-”
“She’s working the night shift in the ER today.” He stands up and takes his foot to his back to stretch. “Now, go. Make sure you order 6 boxes of pizza after the game. The guys and I will bring the beer.”
“What’s wrong?” Brooke questions as she watches Claire climb the stairs to their seats. It was starting to crowd, so she had to yell a bit louder.
“The party is at our house tonight?” Claire replies with a confused face. “Tom is so stupid! How could he plan this without telling me?”
“Claire, you know what that means right?” Hannah shakes her head as she takes a sip of her soda. “Harry Styles is going to be at your house tonight! Perfect timing to seduce him!” She wiggles her brows. Claire cringed. Seduce him? That’s exactly what she didn’t want to do. She can already picture him pushing her off.
“No, thanks.” She pouts. If only she didn’t have a test tomorrow, she could be downstairs ogling Harry across the room. Instead, she’ll be ogling a stupid video with the catchy crash course intro. “You guys have fun but you better tell me if some girl starts talking to him.” Brook laughs as she checks her phone.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure he’s going to be standing in the corner drinking a cup while watching other people get pissed drunk.”
~
The Falcons won. In other words, Harry’s football team won. It ended with Claire coming out of Hannah’s car with a bunch of people waiting for her to open the door. Now, she sat at her desk rubbing her temples in frustration. She could hear people laughing as the music beat vibrated against her floor, making the glass of water on her desk shake in the corner of her eye. I’m about to-
“Sorry, I thought this was the washroom.”  She turns around to see Harry standing in her doorway. He had his baseball cap on backwards. He was wearing a band tee she couldn’t recognize.
“Oh, i-tt’s the next door on your left.” Claire stutters as she stands up immediately. “Hi.” Harry gives her a strange look before looking around her room.
“Hi.” He pauses before talking again. “Nice room.” He was about to go but Claire needed to speak up. This was the only time she had his attention.
“Did you study for the chemistry test tomorrow?” Oh my fucking god… You’re so dumb Claire.
“I don’t have chemistry.” He raises his eyebrow at her before holding onto her doorknob. “Sorry to bother.” And with that, he closed her door shut leaving her dumbfounded. Claire stood there as her heart kept beating fast. That had to be the third time Harry spoke to her.
The first time was in freshman year when he asked her for an eraser during math class. The second time was in Biology class three months ago, when he told her to shut up after she kept asking Mr. Lisak questions about the nucleotides in genes. She hated herself, she really did.
After a while, Claire came to a realization that she couldn’t study tonight so she stood up once again to head downstairs to see what fun she was missing.
“Hannah!” Claire pushed herself through the crowd to greet her and Brooke. They were sitting in a circle with some other kids from their grade. Brooke moved over so Claire can sit with them.
“I thought you were studying?” she whispered to her friend as she took a sip of her mixed drink.
“I couldn’t concentrate.” Claire bit her lip. She was watching the board game in front of them but as she looked up, she noticed her brother laughing with his friends. What stood out to her was that Harry was with them. “I have to go.” Y/N stands up as she watches her brother call her over.
“Where are you going?” Hannah asks as she leans into Gabby.
“My brother needs me.” She sits up carefully as she continues to walk towards Tom. “What do you need?”
“What are you doing down here? I thought you were studying?” He asks as he crosses his arms. His friends were laughing to themselves as they watched the siblings talked. “What are you guys laughing about?” He eyes them. Carlos shakes his head as he looks at me.
“Isn’t Claire in eleventh grade? So, is Styles-”
“Shut up.” My brother interrupts him. “Don’t drink too much, you have to help me clean.” he talks to Claire again.
“What? I wasn’t the one who initiated this whole thing!”
“Yeah, well you came downstairs so you’re automatically co-hosting with me.”
~
“Reports on last night’s cleanup?” Sandra asks Claire as they walk to Bio. Sandra and Kaitlyn were the other two girls in their friend group but they both hated going to parties so instead, they chose to have movie nights when the other girls were out.
“It was horrible.” Claire rolls her eyes as they enter the classroom. Other students were getting settled in as well. Claire didn’t need to admit it. Today was an absolute shit day. First off, her chemistry test was a total fail. Her mom seemed to be too suspicious about last night’s events, and now, Mr. Lisak was assigning their bio assignments.
“Glad to know I won’t ever have to deal with that.” Sandra brushes her hair away from her face. “You don’t even like parties, I can’t believe you still go.”She sets her textbook on the table. “I know it’s because your boyfriend Ha-”
“Shut up. Don’t say his name!” Claire pulls Sandra’s hair softly. Harry was just so happening walking behind them to his seat.
“Claire.” He calls her out. Harry was calling her.
“Yeah.”
“I need to talk to you after class.” He doesn’t look at her as he unloads his backpack.
Harry and Claire walked alongside each other as they exited the school’s building. She had to text Hannah to find a group of friends to sit with since she didn’t know how long this conversation would take. Harry stopped them in front of a tree near the football field. What did he need to tell her?
“Your brother thinks you have a crush on me.” He keeps a straight face as he looks at her. Claire chokes on her breath. She takes a step back and looks at the field.
“Whaaaat? I do not!” She scoffs back with a particular tone. She never told Tom, how would he know!
“So, you don’t like me?”
“No, of course, I do! You’re such a nice guy- and you play really well on-” She rambles on as she watches Harry just look at her.
“It’s a yes or no question.” He shakes his head.
By the time, Claire got her thoughts together, she notices him already walking away from her, she had to yell. “No! I don’t like you!” He pauses in his tracks and turns around.
“Okay good because I need a favour.” Claire widens her eyes. Harry Styles after three years of having the fattest crush on him, he’s happy to know she doesn’t like him? She lied!
“What do you need?”
“I need you to go on a date with Finn Hartley.” Harry walks back towards her as he holds onto the straps of his backpack.
“Finn Hartley? You don’t even talk to him!”
“How would you know?” Harry questions her making her mouth run dry. She’s been obsessed with you, that’s why.
“I just- I don’t think you hang around him that much.”
“Well, I do. I need you to go on one date with him.”
“Why?”
“He likes you.” Claire widens her eyes once again. How did Finn like her? She’s always been busy with her attention on Harry. She didn’t know a boy liked her.
“How long has he liked me?” She mumbles as her cheeks begin to flush.
“Since the beginning of the year. I lost a bet with him so I had to set him on a date with you.”
“What was the bet on?” She bites her lip. Claire didn’t even realize she was standing so close to him. He still smelled the same. She was wondering if he was warm enough to hug her. Maybe, if she kissed him now, all these feelings would go away.
“Some stupid shit.”
“Why does my brother think I like you?”
“Stop asking questions, Jameson.” He calls her out by her last name.
“Just one date?” She pushed back, ignoring his last statement. Harry just sighs and turns her around before pushing her to walk back towards the school building. She couldn’t help but notice how his hands were still on her shoulders as they continued to walk.
“Yes, one date. If you don’t like him, that’s okay. I don’t care.”
~
Claire sat in the bleachers by herself as she took a book from her bag. She was staying after school today since Tom had another practice. She couldn’t help but notice Harry doing push-ups with some other boys.
It’s a bit weird how easily Harry’s presence can bring her joy. Despite him not noticing her, just seeing him already made her day.
He was already sweating due to the sunlight that was directly pointing in their direction. He stood up walking to the bench to take off his shirt but for some reason, this was his first time noticing her. I mean, he knew that Claire Jameson sat in the bleachers every time they had practice but this was the first time that he caught himself looking at her.
She sat quietly in the bleachers as she read her book. She seemed to have been smiling from something she was reading but little did he know, it was because she was watching him.
“Did you tell Harry I like him?” Claire sits in the passenger seat next to her brother. He put his shades on and started the car. Claire was watching Harry get into his own car across the parking lot.
“Styles? You like Styles?” Tom laughs as he rubs his itchy nose.
“So, you didn’t tell him?”
“Claire, I’m not going to lie I think you’re kind of out of his league.”
“Really?” She blushed. Her brother thought she deserved better? But Harry was her first love!
“No, you ugly sack of potatoes.” He turns out of the lot as he blasts the music. “I’m so going to tell mom you have a crush!”
“Tom!” ~ Bz. Bzz.
Claire drops her pen and leans over to grab her phone on the bed. It was from Harry.
Harry: I’m coming over tonight. H.
Claire blinks repeatedly as she stares at the message. Luckily, she already updated her friends about Harry but this was just out of nowhere!
Claire: Why?
Harry: I need to give you some tips on how to make Finn have the best date H.
Claire: Shouldn’t he be working hard on how to make me have the best date.
Harry: I’m just coming over to give you some tips on what to talk about. H.
Claire couldn’t help but let her cheeks turn red. She never knew he texted with his initial at the end.
Claire: okay.
“Hey.”, Claire smiled as she opened the door for Harry. It was around 7 PM and he seemed to have change into a red flannel and black jeans.
“Hey.” He glances at her and walks in.
“Sweetie, I see your friend is here.” Claire’s mom steps into the foyer. “I’m Morgan. It’s nice to meet you…”
“Harry.”
“Styles?” Tom comes downstairs with a bag of chips in his hand. He then looks at his sister and laughs. “Holy shit, you actually could go-” Claire throws her slipper at him.
“Mom, we’ll be in my room.”
“Oooooo.” Her brother teases as she pushes him out of the way. She grabs Harry’s wrist so she can take him upstairs.
She slams the door close as Harry sits on her bed. What is she doing? Why is he here? Why did she lie about not liking him? Now, she has to go on a date with his friend, when she’s been wanting to go on one with him!
“Are you okay?” He licks his lips and leans back on her bed. His legs were wide open as he watched her and she had to look away before she invites herself in between them.
“I’m fine.” She glances at his face then looks away. She sits at her desk and looks at him. “I haven’t been on a date before.”
“Yeah, that’s why I’m here.”
“How would you know that?” Claire was a bit offended. He knew she’s never been on a date. That no guy has ever been interested in her… no wonder he paid no attention towards her.
“I don’t know.” He looks at her ceiling. She still had those glow in the dark stars.
“Before we talk about my date though, you need to come clean.” She mumbles as she plays with the tiny cracks on her phone. She pushed it away after feeling some glass on her skin.
“About what?” He sniffles and sits up a bit more. He couldn’t stop himself from picking up a frame of her. It was her sixth birthday, and she was blowing her cake with her dad and brother beside her.
“Tom doesn’t think I like you.”
“Oh.” He puts the picture down and shakes his head before looking at her. He leans his chin on his hands before kissing his teeth and replying. “Yeah, It was me. Thought you liked me?” Claire’s heart stopped beating. Was it obvious? How she would always ramble when she would see him? How she watched him on the field and in the cafeteria. Holy shit, how she would eat things based on what he would eat?
“Well, I-”
“Yeah, I know you don’t Claire. I realized you’re just a weirdo.” Claire crinkles her face.
“Thanks.”
“No, but for real, I had to make sure you didn’t like me or anything. That’s fucked up if I tried to set you up with Finn.” Well, you’re in for a surprise.
“Really fucked up.” She laughs at herself.
“Okay, let’s get started.” He yawns a bit. “I told Finn that I got your input about going on a date with him and he’s happy about it-” Harry continues on but for some reason, Claire found herself just looking at him. How he would rub his chin and use his hands to explain things. “Claire. Claire!”
“Yeah!” She falls out of her trance. Trying to pull it off smoothly, she spins her chair around and looks at him. “I’ve been listening!”
“No, you haven’t.”
“Yes, I have!”
“What did I just say?” He smirks at her, leaving Claire to smack her forehead on the desk. “Hey, stop you’re going to get a bruise. Why are you hitting yourself so hard?”
“I’m stupid!”
“Or more like falling asleep.” He pulls her off the chair to join him on the bed. “Y’know if you don’t want tips. It’s fine, I was thinking about talking you through it but I should just leave.”
“No, don’t!” Claire urgently replies back. God, does she sound desperate or what? Seduce him! Hannah’s voice enters her mind. She possibly can’t. Should she?
Claire decides to give a go. Maybe, if he rejects her, this is how she’ll find out if he’s gay or not. She lets her hair down before biting her lip. She leans a bit back on one of her elbows as she reaches over for her remote to turn on the TV. Specifically, Netflix.
“What the fuck are you doing Claire.” Harry sits next to her with his eyebrows furrowed. He pushes her arm, making her completely fall onto the bed. He leans over to take the tv remote but just as he was hovering over her, the door busted open.
“Claire, what did I say. No closed doors when boys- Oh My God!” Morgan yells as she looks at Harry partly hovering over her daughter as the screen of movies and tv shows are on display.
“Mom!”
Harry quickly pulls away and stands up before clearing his throat. Claire sits up as well, tying her hair back up.
“I’m leaving. No closed doors!” Morgan quickly walks away. Harry turns around to look at her before throwing himself back on the bed.
“Are you okay?” He rubs his eyes and looks at her. He honestly thinks this girl is weird. How does Finn like her?
Hm, how should Claire respond to that? I’m fine. I was just trying to seduce you that’s all.
“Yeah, my ponytail was giving me a headache and I was wondering if we should watch a movie while you explain the stuff.” Harry didn’t reply when she was done speaking. Instead, he reached over to pull her hair tie off her, softly as possible.
“There.” He throws it back at her before taking the remote. “Wanna watch a random episode of friends?”
“Um, sure.” She takes the hair tie back as she sits a safe distance away from him so they can watch the show.
Throughout the episode, Harry ended up sitting against the wall with Claire as he spoke about what to expect from Finn or more importantly from a first date. This time she listened well and tried not to focus too much on him. Of course, it still made her heart beat fast when he would laugh at her stupid questions but if Harry thought she was a weirdo… then a weirdo she is.
Click. Claire hears as she opens her eyes. It was Tom holding his phone as he took a picture of her and Harry. Claire wanted to yell at him so badly but she was kind of happy he took the pic. Plus as she turned a bit, she noticed she was laying on Harry’s shoulder. God, how did they end up this way? Last she knew, She was closing her eyes subtly as he continued to explain what was a good conversation starter. Did he think she was a loser? That she can’t even impress his friend? Well, not too wrong, she can barely handle a conversation with him.
Tom laughs as he walks forward to tug on Harry’s ankle. “Yo Styles, wake up.” Claire immediately pulls away as she stretches her arms.
“Fuck did I fall asleep? Sorry, Claire.”
“Yeah, yeah. Do you like my sister or not?” Tom glances at his sister before looking at Harry.
“What? No dude.” Harry gets off the bed as he rubs his eyes. “I fell asleep by accident.” He looks at Claire as he rubs his chin.
“Mom is asking if you want some dinner before you leave.”
“Oh no, It’s fine I got to head home anyway.” Harry glances at the clock. It was about 9 PM. He never stayed this late at a girl’s house before. Quite frankly, he never really went to their house, they came to his.
As Harry was driving home, he couldn’t help but sniff his flannel a lot, especially on his left side where Claire was sleeping. As he parked his car and came inside, he noticed how lonely it felt. How the picture of his dad sat on the fireplace. He missed him.
~
“You fell asleep on Harry?” Kaitlyn clarifies as the five of them sat on the field. Their Classes were about to start in 15 minutes and this was usually the time when all of them could hang out.
“Yeah.”
“Holy shit, when did Harry start noticing you?” Hannah laughs as she plucks some grass and into her fingers.
“I don’t know… ever since my brother hosted the party at our place?”
“It had to be before. Finn likes you! When did that bet take place anyway?” Brooke questions as she lays her head on Sandra’s lap.
“That’s true, you should ask.” Sandra braids Brooke’s hair as she listens to the conversation.
“I barely ever spoke to Finn in my life.” Claire leans up to look at the sky. “Now, Harry only notices me because of him.”
“That’s cute. Imagine if Harry ends up liking you or you end up having a crush on Finn.”
“I don’t know. I’d pick Harry over anyone.”
“Ooooo.” Kaitlyn teases as she playfully pushes Claire into Hannah’s side.
“Jameson!” The girls look up to see Harry a bit further from them. He stood in a black T-shirt and his signature skinny black jeans.
“I got to go. Duty calls.”
“Yeah, your boyfriend is calling.” Brooke burst out in laughter as Claire pulls some grass herself before dropping it in Brooke’s face.
“Yeah.” She catches up to him as they begin to walk inside the building.
“He’s asking you out today during lunch. Where do you eat?”
“In the cafeteria…” Claire pouts a bit as she looks at Harry. He really never did notice her. She sat in front of him every day and he had no idea!
“Oh okay. Why are you looking at me like that?”
“What? I’m not looking at you like anything.”
“Cut the crap, Claire. I don’t know what’s your problem today but that’s all I needed to tell you.” And with that, Harry walks away, leaving her pretty sad.
She didn’t feel right. How obsessed she’s been about him, only to have him talk to her a couple of times due to a lost bet.  It sucked.
Last night before they fell asleep, they were talking about the what-ifs on her first date. She remembered him smiling and laughing at her awkwardness. Now, it seemed like he wanted nothing to do with her.
Hannah sat in front of Claire in their usual seats. She was drinking some chocolate milk while doing her homework. Claire seemed to barely touch her food. “Are you okay? What did Harry tell you?” Hannah couldn’t help but asks. She noticed how her best friend barely looked at the table behind them ever since lunch started.
As Hannah brought the topic up, Claire couldn’t help but look at the table, only to catch Harry already looking at her. Well, hi to you too. “I’m fine. It’s just- Harry was kind of mean today. I thought after getting to know him, he would be a bit nicer.”
“But do you really know anything about him?”
“I know…” Claire seemed to be lost on this one and it upset her more. She claims to be in love with him but she doesn’t even know what he likes? What his favourite colour is? “I know he has a sister named Gemma. She’s in University.”
“How do you only know that?”
“He said it in 8th grade, during a presentation.” Claire shakes her head and looks down. She is so pathetic.
“Hey Claire,” She looks up again to see Finn Hartley standing at their table. “Hey, Hannah.”
“Hi.” Claire forces a smile at him as she feels Harry’s eyes on her.
“I was wondering if I could get your number and take you out on a date?” Finn smiles at her as she glances at Harry once more. He seemed to be far more interested in Natalie and her friends who sat at their table a couple of minutes ago.
“Here you go. I can’t wait where we’re going to go.” Claire genuinely replies as she fills in his phone.
“Thanks.” Finn smiles as he puts his phone in his pocket. “I’ll see you soon.”
“You better come over and help me prepare for this date.” Claire lets out a sigh as she begins to eat.
~
“Wait so, he’s taking you out to Mcdonalds?” Hannah asks confusedly as she sits on Claire’s bed. “For a guy who seems to like you, his date location choice seems pretty… uh”
“I know right?” Claire pauses as she tries on a new shirt. “ I don’t know it’s fine. It’s my first date though. I’m really excited.”
“I’m really happy for you, babe. After Harry stopped talking to you, I can only imagine how open-minded you are to this.”
“Thanks for coming, it means a lot.”
“Anything for you.”
“So, what would you like to order?” The girl asks the pair as they look at the menu and at her.
“I’ll have combo 1 please,” Finn states as he looks at Claire.
“I’ll have combo three, the chicken nuggets.” She smiles. The night was a bit awkward, she expected Finn to talk a bit more. That’s what Harry told her. Instead, he was quiet as a mouse, barely acknowledging her.
As they took their seats in the booth, Claire couldn’t help but take a french fry in her mouth. She was quiet too and Finn was just trying to eat his burger.
“Are we okay?” Claire couldn’t help but asks. Harry told her that Finn was excited about tonight but instead, he was acting as if he hated being here. The boy looks up and nods his head.
“Yeah, I ‘m fine. Just a bit shy.”
“It’s okay. Me too. It’s kind of my first date.”
“Really? This is probably my third but I don’t go out much.” Claire dips her nugget in her sauce as she laughs a bit.
“Same. Let’s get to know each other.” She takes a bit of the meat in her hands. “ How did you and Harry become friends?” She wasn’t going to lie. Finn was cute but she didn’t know much about him.
“Oh, Haz and I? We’re next-door neighbours. I knew him since he moved in.”
“Why haven’t I seen you during middle school then?”
“Homeschooled.” Finn laughs as he takes a sip of his soda. “You’re probably wondering what our bet was. I would have asked you on a date without his help but I was really nervous.” Claire smiled at him and shakes her head.
“It doesn’t bother me at all. I’m glad I’m here tonight.” Was that a lie? She wasn’t mad to be here but she did wish she was with Harry instead.
“Harry and I were playing soccer in my backyard. I ended up getting more shots than him. I mean, the guy is better in American football than his English soccer, isn’t that crazy?”
“I’m sure he was a bit rusty.” She laughs about their bet. “What was his reward if he won?”
“Nothing actually. Sometimes, I think he purposely lost so I could finally go out with you.”
“That’s nice of him,” Claire admitted. So, she didn’t know much about Harry but that little story from Finn made her think the world of Harry. She wished that he still talked to her.
~
You guessed it. Claire was stuck on the bleachers again waiting for her brother. Tomorrow, they had a home game so tonight’s practice was a bit more longer. She played with her hair as she watched the boys run from one side of the cone to another. She was trying her best to not look at the curly-headed boy.
After her great date with Finn, she came to the conclusion that maybe it was time to get over Harry Styles.
After all, he really made sure to let her know he doesn’t like her.
Once practice was over, she noticed Tom talking to his friends before climbing the bleachers to meet up with his sister. “Claire, tonight we have a change of plans.”
“What?” She whined. It was already 5 PM and all she wanted to do was head home and sleep.
“Jeffrey and the others are heading to the diner for some food, you can either come or you can walk home.” Claire put her backpack on as she stood in front of him.
“I’ll uber home.” She really didn’t want to walk for 30 minutes if she was being honest.
“I’ll drive her,” A voice speaks out. Tom and Claire look at the bottom to see Harry holding onto his sweat bag. Tom smirked at his sister before walking down again. Claire followed along without another word.
“No funny business Styles, you drop my sister home and then you leave.” Usually, Tom wouldn’t let a guy from his team talk to his sister but weirdly enough, he let Harry drive his sister home. After all, she had a big crush on him. Tom walked away leaving Harry and Claire on the field while the other boys were in the change room. She glanced at Harry to see him rubbing the back of his neck before nodding his head to the exit.
“Let’s go.”
Step by step, Claire followed him to his car. It was a regular black sleek Sedan. She sat in the passenger seat while she watched Harry throw his bag in the trunk before sitting down in front of the wheel.
She sat awkwardly in the seat as Harry just observed her. “What?” She mumbles as she stared straight ahead of her.  Harry just laughs at her as he shakes his head. After a couple of seconds, the boy leans over to grab the seat belt on her side. He clicks it on and puts his on too. “You could have just told me.” She bites her lip as she adjusts the strap on her chest.
“Yeah but for some reason Jameson, you act like you have no brain cells when you’re around me.”
“No, I don’t.” She protested as Harry smirks at her. He starts the car and begins to drive. “Thanks for the ride though. It’s nice of you.”
“I wanted to hear about your date last night.” He glanced at her. She’s pretty. Holy shit, stop that Harry.
“Of course you do.” She rolls her eyes as she takes an inhale. His car smelled exactly like him. “It went great though. In the beginning, it was a bit rough but after a while, it was really fun.”
“That’s good to hear.” He didn’t know why he asked her. After their date, Finn knocked on his door, telling him everything about it. It made him a bit… upset. The only question in Harry’s mind was why? Why did it bother him?  He barely spoke to this girl since a couple weeks ago and for some damn reason, he’s been thinking about her since.
He remembered how talkative she was during Bio class. She was way too interested in genes than anybody else in the room. How she bit her pencil when she couldn’t understand the topic. He already knew she was going to raise her hand up by the way she kept glancing at her notes and then at the slides.
How she was reading something while she sat in the bleachers or on some nights, she would just watch them train…. He was suddenly getting a bunch of thoughts of her thrown into his head.
“Harry?” She pokes his arm as he stares at his wheel. They finally arrived at her place after not really talking during the drive home. Now, she needed the boy to unlock the door. He shakes his head and looks at her house. Harry shrugs his shoulders, waiting for her to get out but the only problem was she didn’t know what button unlocked her door. “Can you unlock the door?” He presses the button on his side before looking at her. “Thanks… would you like to come in?” Claire screamed in her head. Why would she ask him that!”
“Your brother said no funny business. I’m scared you might try and seduce me again.”
“I wasn’t trying to!” Claire lies as she grabs her backpack and steps out. “Okay, fine go home. I was going to make you dinner!” Harry smiles at her. He was only teasing her but to see her so flustered made him a bit happier.
“I’m coming.” He pulls his keys out and unbuckles his belt.
They sat together in Claire’s kitchen, eating some pasta. Tom wasn’t home yet nor was her mom so they had the house to themselves. Harry already had two bowls why Claire just ate slowly while watching him eat.
“You know, we never really talked and we’ve known each other since eighth grade,” She speaks out as she pours him a glass of orange juice. She sat in her hoodie and her tights after they came home.
“I don’t talk to a lot of people, especially girls.” He mumbled thanks after, she put the juice box down.
“That’s not true. I saw you talking to Natalie and her friends!” He raises his brow at her and takes another forkful of the pasta in his bowl.
“Do you stalk me, Jameson?” “No.” She widens her eyes and pours more juice in his glass. It was still full… “I don’t know anything about you.”
“I have a sister named Gemma.”
“I know.” He drops his utensil in his bowl. He slowly drags the cup towards him since he didn’t want to spill the juice. The girl beside him filled it to the brim.
“Drink it.” He looks at her then his glass of juice.
“I already have a cup. No thanks.”
“Drink it.” He smirks and pushes it towards her. She filled it to the top so she has to fix it.
Claire leans forward as she takes small sips from his glass. She couldn’t help but think of how lips touched it before hers. After she finished it halfway through, she pulled away and wiped her mouth. She was about to look at Harry for his reaction but instead, he pulls her closer to kiss her. He kissed her!
His hand was on her arm as he pulled her towards him. She wanted to wrap her arms around him but instead, she stayed frozen. His lips were so soft just like she imagined. He couldn’t help but suck on her top lip as it tasted like orange juice.
He pulls away as he looks at her and bites his lip. “I have to go.” He sits up immediately and gets ready to leave her house. Claire chases after him and just as he was about to walk through the open door, she couldn’t help but call him out.
“Are you gay!?” She watches him with tears in her eyes. He regretted kissing her. A boy like him didn’t like her. The boy she was in love with wanted nothing to do with her.
“What? No!” He replies with a particular tone in his voice. He was obviously offended. “Bye Jameson, thanks for the food.” he mumbles.
Claire closes the door and locks it before walking to her staircase and sitting down. Her sleeves were her only substitute as tissues while she continued to cry. Harry Styles was her first kiss and he walked away from her right after.
~
Let’s go Falcons! Let’s go!
The cheerleaders chanted in the corner of the field as the boys continued to vs the Panthers. Claire was sitting in the bleachers as usual with Brooke and Hannah. She tried not to come tonight but the moment, Hannah showed up at her house, she couldn’t say no. Now, they sat together cheering on their school. From the corner of her eye, she could see Finn sitting with his friends. They were known for running the robotics club, which was really cool.
“I’m going to get a drink,” Claire announced as she stood up from her friends. Their school was winning by 92-77. She was barely watching the game anyways. After last night, she’s been avoiding her brother. She didn’t want Tom to know about Harry and their kiss.
“Hey.” Finn elbows her and smiles. They stood at the front of their vending machine with some other guests standing behind them.
“Hey.”
“I’m sorry for not calling you back after that date.” Maybe, he wasn’t interested in her too. “I just- my mom is sick and she went back to the hospital.”
“I’m sorry to hear about that. It’s fine Finn.” She couldn’t help but hug him. She hated it when she heard stories about her friends’ parents. When something bad happened to them, she couldn’t help but feel as if they’re her parents too, especially since her dad left them.
“Styles!” Norton yells at him as he misses the ball. The coach calls time, making their team head back to the benches.
“What were you looking at!?” Tom snaps at him as they huddle up.  Harry shakes his head as he takes his helmet off.
“Sorry, I don’t know.” But he did know. He was looking at Jack running with the ball but his eyes caught Claire and Finn hugging near the vending machines. He obviously had no idea why it made him lose focus.
“Get back on the field and if you get your head out of the game one more time, you’re out!” Coach Turner smacks his board on the pole. The other team was finally catching up.
“What took you so long?” Brooke questions as Claire sits beside her again. Hannah was taking selfies with their poster.
“Saw Finn.” She replies back as she smiled at the boy who looked at her one more time before talking to his friends.
“You missed Harry getting yelled at by your brother. I think Coach Turner did too.”
“Why did he get yelled at?” Her brows furrowed as she caught eyes with Harry. He was about to snap the football behind to her brother. It was crazy how they could still see each other even though she was on the bleachers. She wasn’t far though only 6 rows up.
“He missed a play.”
“Party tonight at Ben’s!” Hannah cheers as she leans on Claire’s shoulder but for some reason, Claire couldn’t stop thinking of Harry.
“Another win for the boys!!! HUH HUH!!” Norton yells as the boys enter Ben’s house. Harry followed behind them with a smile on his face as he took a beer from a random guy who offered it to him. After the game, Jack and Tom seemed cool with him again. After all, he scored two touchdowns after his mistake. Now, tonight was their celebratory party… like always.
“You played really well, Harry.” Natalie walks to him as he stands at the table where the snacks were laid out.
“Thanks, Nat.” He purses his lips as he looks at the variety of chips in front of him. He was having a hard choice between them.
“I was wondering if you wanted to I don’t know… Go somewhere a bit quieter?” Harry pretended to act clueless but he knew exactly what she was talking about. He never really liked a girl but he did play around with Natalie from time to time. He just hated the way she talked. Harry was about to say yes until he saw Claire across the room, dancing by herself… surrounded by other people who seemed to ignore her. Where were her friends? Did she know that she can’t dance?
“No thanks.” He walks away to grab Claire from the crowd. He brought her outside on the patio where most people were just chilling. Where was Tom?
“Claire.” He tries to stabilize her as she holds onto his shoulders. “Why are you drunk?” If anything, Harry knew Claire wasn’t the type to lose her self control at parties. He noticed she was just as sober as he was… at least most of the time.
“Why di coach Turnerrr yell at you?” She pouts and leans into him.
“I made a mistake.” His hands placed themselves on her waist. He could feel her skin through the thin cropped cardigan and skinny jeans she was wearing.
“You know! I like Finn.” Harry couldn’t help but look down at their shoes.
“You do?”
“Yeah! Especially when he told me how youuu lost the gamee so he can go on a date with me!”
“I didn’t do it on purpose.” He lies as he takes a whiff of her sweet perfume. She smelled like lavender.
“You’re British! How could you not be good at soccer?” She looks at him as she slurs. She takes her pointer finger and taps his nose.
“True.”
“You know who I like more than Finn though?” “Who?”
“You! I’ve liked you since eighth grade!”
“What?” His eyes widened. Harry stared at her eyes to see if she was lying but instead, she smiled sweetly as her cheeks were pink as the colour of her room.
“Mhm. Been in love with you since! I always tried to get your attention but you never noticed me!”
“Claire.” He looks at her. He doesn’t know how he feels about the new fact He doesn’t even know what to say. Yeah, he’s always wanted a girlfriend but he never really found a girl for him… well except now. Harry was liking the idea of Claire being his girlfriend. He thought that she liked him but after the first time, she said no, he got his answer and he never thought about it again.
“Holy shit Claire!” Brooke comes out of the house to see them too. She was wondering where her friend was. “Hi, Harry.” Harry took his hands off of her immediately as he pushed the girl into her friend’s arms.
“Hey. I brought her out here, it was pretty hot inside and she’s pretty drunk.” Brooke trusted him as she took Claire. She knew he wasn’t trying to take advantage of her. Truthfully, she heard their whole conversation and the moment she saw Harry’s reaction to Clarie’s confession, she had to come in.
“Thanks.” Harry just nods before walking back inside.
~
“I knew what I said. Stop bringing it up.” Claire groans as she and her friends sat on the football field just like usual. It was now a Monday and ever since Friday night’s party, her anxiety has been killing her.
“You know, you can always pretend you don’t remember.”
“What?” She takes a sip from her thermos as she listens to Kaitlyn’s suggestion.
“That’s true. You were drunk! Just pretend you don’t remember.” Sandra agrees with her.
“You should. Remember how he just left  after kissing you.” Brooke joins into the conversation.
“Tom should never hear about that.” Claire rubs her eyes.
“He won’t as long as you never tell him.” Hannah shakes her head and laughs. “He probably yelled at your ass when you guys were driving home.”
“I still hate how he drinks then drives.” Brooke pouts as she bites her lip. She may have a crush on Claire’s brother.
“He barely drinks though but yeah, I definitely got yelled at.”
“Shit was that the bell?” Sandra sits up and helps the other girls stand up too. “We gotta go. I’ll see you in Bio Claire.”
“Pssst, Psssst Claire!” Harry whispers at her as people enter their classroom.
“What?” She looks at him and takes her pencil case.
“Meet me at the tree during lunch.” Claire wanted to say no. That Hannah needed a buddy to sit with but it was Monday and the other girls had no meetings today so they were going to be a full table anyway.
“What? No.” That was the first time she said no.
“Yes, you will.”
“Class, Let’s get started.”
Harry leaned against the tree as he watched the girl in the dress walk towards him. The sun was shining on her as she carefully walked on the field trying not to get mud on her white sneakers.
“What do you need, Harry? Does Finn want to go on another date?” Claire arrives as she holds onto the straps of her backpack. She was cute, really really cute. Harry had to shake out of his thoughts as he spoke to her.
“You know, you were drunk on Friday.” “I know. I got yelled at by Tom.” She picks up a stick and peels its skin. Harry takes the thing in her hands and throws it away. “Hey!”
“Do you like me?” He cuts her off as he steps closer to her. “You better not lie this time or so help me God, Claire.”
“I told you I don’t.” “Who do you like then?” Harry tested her.
“Finn.” She replies confidently as he clenches his fist.
“That’s not what you said last Friday.”
“I didn’t say anything last Friday! Especially, not to you!” She lied. She knew Harry didn’t like her. She needed to save herself the embarrassment.
“You told me you-”
“I don’t even know anything about you! You barely let me in!”
“Why do you care so much about knowing me!” He yells back at her. She turns around as she feels tears in her eyes. “Are you fucking crying?” She turns around again and sighs.
“I tell you anything you want to know about me but the moment I ask you something, you cut everything short!” “No one cares about me-”
“I do, Harry! I care about you!” She rubs her face and hugs herself. Why did she have to care so much about this boy?
“If you think this is some romantic movie...” He looks at the field then back at her. “That I’m going to comfort you and tell you shit about myself than you’re wrong Claire.” He takes his backpack and leaves her there, by the tree.
~
“You okay?” Tom unlocks the front door and lets his sister inside the house first. “If you’re still mad about me yelling at you on Friday, you deserve it. You know you need to be careful during these parties.” “I get it, Tom.” Claire walks straight upstairs and shuts her bedroom door.
The pillows surrounding her head comforted her as she continued to cry. It’s pretty sad how she thought he was different. She always admired him from afar but now that she knows him she wants nothing to do with him. She was surprised when her brother opened the door.
“Tom,-” He ignores her and shuts the door. He stands away from her as he watches her cry.
“Did I make you cry or did somebody else?”
“Do you miss dad?” Claire ignores his question and sits up.
“No, I hate him.” He throws the tissue box on the vanity towards her.
“I miss him.” She glances at the picture from her birthday as she wipes her tears with the tissues. “Some times I wonder why I like Harry so much.”
“What did he do? Is he the one who’s making you cry.” Claire shakes her head not to disagree with him but to point the conversation somewhere else.
“Maybe ever since Dad left, I needed to find another person to help me cope with the divorce. Maybe, that’s why I always thought of him.” “I don’t know Claire.” Tom itches his head as he watches his sister. “You do know I’m here for you right. Even when I move off to college, I’m still here.”
“I wonder how I’m going to get home now.” “Learn how to drive you dumbass.” Claire sticks her middle finger at him as she opens her arms.
“Now, come hug me.”
Finn sighs as he kicks the soccer ball past the soccer net. Harry and he were hanging out by the soccer field near their houses. “Fuck man, I don’t know what to say.” He looks back at the curly-headed boy sitting on the grass. “You’re saying if I didn’t win the bet, you wouldn’t have realized you like her? Claire?”
“I’m sorry. I just felt like I needed to tell you about this. You can be mad at me. I just- I don’t know.” Harry rests his face in his hands. Finn sits down in front of him and pushes his arms.
“You sure you like Claire Jameson?” He raises his brows at him. “I thought you said she was stupid and weird.”
“She is Finn! That’s the problem!” Harry falls on the grass as he looks at the sky. “She’s not even stupid. She’s actually really smart. She’s just awkward and clumsy - and she’s so fucking cute like that I don’t-”
“Okay, I get it you like the girl.” Finn laughs sadly as he looks at his friend. “You know, I really think she’s a nice girl but when we were on our date, she couldn’t help but talk about you a lot. She kept trying to ask me questions about you.” “I don’t even know if she likes me. She said she did. I asked her today and then she said no! Girls are crazy man!” “I know but in fairness, this is the first girl you spoke about to me.”
“She drives me crazy.”
“Can you imagine how crazy you’ve been driving her since eighth grade then?” Finn laughs as he stands up again. “Come on, let’s play one more round together and make a bet.”
~ “Hey.” Finn catches up to Claire as they walk in the hallways together. Lunch had just started and she needed to meet Hannah at their table.
“Hey Finn, how are you? How’s your mom?”
“We’re good Claire, thanks for asking.” He holds onto his binder a bit tighter. “I was wondering if I can take you out on a date again?”
“Oh okay.” Claire looks at him. “When?”
“Tonight?”
“Um, on a school night?” “Yeah. I know it’s just my only free day.”
“Okay. Are you going to pick me up?” “Yeah, wear something nice alright?” Claire raises her eyebrows in surprise. Wow, his standards obviously upgraded.
“He’s taking you out again?” Hannah rolls her eyes as she eats her burger. “To Mcdonalds?”
“No. Somewhere nicer.” Claire glances up to see Harry already looking at her. Niall seemed to be talking to him but his attention was somewhere else, or someone else.
“Stop looking at him!” Hannah throws a piece of her sliced cabbage at Claire.”Chant with me. We don’t like Harry Styles, we don’t like-”
“I have to go.” Claire stands up and throws her lunch out. “Go to Sam’s table.” She walks out of the cafeteria. She needed to clear her mind before class and Harry in her peripheral vision wasn’t helping anybody.
She needed to scream at him. She needed to scream at herself. She needed an outlet. By the time she knew it, she was back at the tree from yesterday. As she sat down, she couldn’t help but pout. She’s frustrated, really really frustrated.
~
“Where we going?” Claire asks Finn as he drives out of her neighbourhood.
“Harbour.” He smiles at her.
“I love the harbour!” She couldn’t help but feel the excitement as she sat in her seat.
By the time, they were there, Finn helped her out of her seat before going back to his. “Finn, Where are you going?” Claire asked in panic as he started his car again. She really tried for this date. She was wearing a bit more makeup than usual and she was even wearing a dress.
“Look behind you.”Finn smiles sadly then drives away. Claire turns around to see Harry in a suit, holding a rose.
“Harry…” She walks towards him. He gives her the pink rose before holding onto her hand and directing them to the restaurant in the front. “Wait, what about Finn?” Harry rolls his eyes as he pulls a seat out for her.
“Is it not obvious that I’m your date tonight.”
“Oh.”
“Don’t ‘oh’ me love, or I might get that boy to come back here and continue this date for me.” Her cheeks flushed red as she looks at him.
“Why couldn’t you ask me out on a date?”
“I won another bet Finn and I made so, he had to set us up.” Harry licks his lips and smirks. “You better finish everything on your plate sweetheart, I’ve been saving up my money since 5th grade for a date with a girl.”
It was around 6:30 PM as they walked alongside each other in front of the water. Harry couldn’t help but give his jacket to Claire since it was quite cold tonight. “You wanted to know more about me huh?” “Yeah.” Claire rolls her eyes at Harry’s statement. “Just forget about it-”
“My father passed away 5 years ago and we couldn’t pay for our house, so we moved to a smaller one. It’s where I live now. I have a stepfather so he’s been helping my mom now.” He glances at her and squeezes her cheek. “Don’t cry, Claire. I know it’s sad but that’s what life is.” Claire stops walking. For the first time in three years, she’s able to look him in the eyes without feeling nervous.
“I’m here for you.”
“I know.” He takes her hand and nods his head to the right to gesture they should walk again. “You know what’s funny? I ‘ve always known about you. I just never really spoke to you.”
“I know!” Claire laughs as she plays with the rose, bumping it on her face. “I used to watch you all the time and observe what stuff you wore and what you like to eat.” They stop walking in front of the boats.
“So, you were a stalker?” Harry laughs as her cheeks turn red. “Oh, stop acting shy. I like you too.”
“I never said I liked you!” Claire begins to walk again but Harry grabs onto her wrist to pull back.
“Well, I’m telling you… I like you, Claire Jameson.”
“I like you more, Harry Styles.” Harry’s eyes crinkle as he hears her response. He rubs her hair at the top of her head, before kissing her forehead.
“Alright, I won’t fight with you on that.
~ Five months later
“Hey, baby,” Harry smirks as he catches Claire into his arms. Football practice had just finished and Hary couldn’t wait to take his girlfriend home, especially with the heart eyes she’s been giving him since the whole thing started.
“Hi!” She hides her face in his T-shirt as she wears his hoodie.
“Gross!” A voice teases them, “ Styles you better have my sister home by 10.” Tom walks with their other teammates out of the change room. Harry just nods as he takes his girl’s hand.
They walked together towards the tree at the end of the field. The sun was setting as mixtures of purple and pink covered the sky. Claire sat down as Harry laid his head on her lap.
“I have a question.” She asks her boyfriend as she plays with his soft brown curls.
“Mhm.” He closes his eyes and rubs his face on her stomach.
“Would you rather date me or the most beautiful girl in the world?” Harry just rolls his eyes and sits up.
“The most beautiful girl in the world.”
“Harr, that was supposed to be a trick question.” Harry leans in to leave kisses all over her face.
“You are. You’re the most beautiful girl in the world.” He kisses her and smiles, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”

THE ORIGINALS
After finishing The Vampire Diaries I felt completely lost. The last episode left me wanting more even though I had just finished 8 whole seasons. Some of my favourite characters were the original vampires, and I was left wishing that they were in the final episode of TVD. So of course I was gonna watch The Originals immediately. The Originals follow Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikealson of the original vampire family, as they move back to New Orleans, which is where they stayed for centuries before. The reason for their move is the pregnancy of Hayley, a werewolf who had a one night stand with Klaus in a Vampire Diaries episode.
What I love most about this show is that it is less of a teen drama than The Vampire Diaries is (although I am a sucker for a good teen drama). The storyline of Klaus having a child was absolutely shocking, which I loved, as we thought that him being half a Vampire would not allow him to procreate. However because he is a hybrid (vampire/werewolf) his werewolf gene allowed it to happen. I especially loved this storyline because it meant that Klaus would probably be forced to show more of his humanity (which he did), which we see little of in Vampire Diaries, only really showing it when he’s with Caroline. I also love seeing more of the backstory of how the original vampires were made, as well as how they figured out what their powers were. It was interesting to see the family as kids. The cutest scene is seeing Klaus make a little wooden toy for Rebekah as children, showing how sweet their relationship used to be. It was heartbreaking seeing the backstory of their father with Klaus and how damaged their relationship left him. You see a large amount of Elijah's past as well, I liked seeing him with the doppleganger Tatia, and how becoming a vampire ruined their relationship. A shocking twist was when it was revealed that Freya, their oldest sister, was still alive. I thought bringing her back into the family was great and changed the dynamic. She was such a great character, always helping with every problem that came their way. They would most definitely have died much earlier than they did if it wasn’t for her. Marcel’s dynamic with the family was also one of my favourites. I loved that he really was like a son to Klaus and I enjoyed watching the flashbacks of their relationship as well as with Rebekah, Elijah and Kol. Plus Marcel as a child is adorable.  Finding out about their sire lines and Lucien, Tristan and Aurora was one of my favourite parts in the show. You see these characters be the first humans that the original family turn, and what their life became after that. It is so interesting to me to see the history of vampirism in the TVD world.
Tumblr media
This show quickly became one of my favourite shows. I truly don’t know which show I enjoyed more, Vampire Diaries or The Originals. However I would’ve loved to see more of Rebekah, Kol and Finn, especially Rebekah. In saying that, I know her absence from the show was for personal reasons which I most definitely respect, and the parts we did get with her were awesome. We got to see quite a bit of Kol’s character but I still would've liked to see a little more considering it is called ‘The Originals’ not ‘Klaus and Elijah’. Although Finn is most definitely my least favourite Mikealson sibling and probably the most boring, I wanted to see why he was like that, and although we saw that a little more than we did in The Vampire Diaries, he died before we could see more. I also wish that the ending did not have to have Hayley, Klaus and Elijah die. I definitely thought it was a full circle moment when Klaus and Elijah took each other's lives and also proved that they both were not villains and showed their love and care for their family (always and forever 😭). However I am so sad that they will never appear in Legacies and that Hope has had to live with so much of her family dead. Although you never know who can come back to life in these shows.
This show really stepped it up in terms of diversity. As I discussed in my Vampire Diaries post, I wanted to see more people of colour in the main cast. This show definitely did that, having two African American characters, Marcel and Vincent, become part of the main cast. Both of them quickly became favourite characters of mine. Adding Keelin as a featured character as well was amazing as her character was part of an interracial and lesbian couple with Freya, which was awesome to see. Speaking of which, this show was good at representing couples from the LGBTQI+ community. Two of my favourite couples on the show were gay couples, one being Josh and Aiden, and of course Freya and Keelin. I also loved that it wasn't a big deal Freya starting having a relationship with a woman, and the family hardly even reacted which was nice. I’m seeing more of this in many tv shows and it’s great to see.
FUN FACTS:
- The show came through Vampire Diaries fans making videos of what a show based on the original family would look like. Joseph Morgan (Klaus) and Claire Holt (Rebekah) saw these videos and started talking about making a series.
- Charles Michael Davis (Marcel), auditioned for The Vampire Diaries many times but never landed a part. He was very glad when he got the call to be a part of The Originals
- The Originals received better ratings than The Vampire Diaries
- Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley) and Claire Holt (Rebekah) starred in H2O just add water, an Australian kids tv show together before their roles on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals
- The show was first meant to be set in Chicago, but was later decided to be set in New Orleans

° 。 ☾ ➺ ELLA AND CHARLOTTE MIKAELSON who looks like JESSICA PARKER KENNEDY is trapped in hollow valley. the WEREWOLF/WITCH HYBRID is a 26/ 26-year-old, PANSEXUAL who is the BIOLOGICAL child of FREYA AND KEELIN. THEY ARE a OWNER OF ENCHANTMENT / PHONE SEX WORKER, but it is worth knowing that they are hiding THAT SHE ISN’T REALLY A TRIPLET (SHE SUFFERS SPLIT PERSONALITY AND WHILE SHE HAS A TWIN SISTER. HER SECOND PERSONALITY MAKES THEM TRIPLETS).
Tumblr media
why/how did they end up in hollow valley? are they trying to get out/do they want to leave? what has changed since canon? e.g. over the last 32 years they have been trapped in hollow valley.
Ella Claire Mikaelson and her twin sister were born in hollow valley, the bio daughter of freya and keelin using exciting new medical procedures to allow gay couples to have kids. There were some risk to the procedure but it’s still unknown if that was the reason that little Ella ended up in hospital suffering from a genetic disorder that had her hospitalized from birth. The doctors said that she would be died by her 11 birthday.
It was on Ella’s 9th birthday that it happened, she was taking a turn for the worst. Ella overheard the doctors say that she only had a few weeks left and she knew. She could feel it. She was scared. Terrified in fact. That was when Charlotte was born. Ella’s brain split in two giving her a second personality. A personality that could protect her. Charlotte got out of bed, walked down the hall to a man that was dying and used her magic to kill them.
Taking the human life triggered her werewolf gene, causing her body to heal from her genetic disorder and allowing her to leave the hospital. Ella woke the next morning with no memories of what happened as if she hasn’t done it but she was better, so she got to go home and start living her life. Charlotte was thought to be gone right after the event till the next full moon when Ella was out in the woods about to start her transformation into a werewolf for the first time. Again. Scared out of her. That was when Charlotte took over again. She took over, protected Ella. Went through the whole werewolf transformation before allowing Ella to take back over when it was over.
Ella accepted Charlotte into her life, loving her. She has been alone in her hospital room for years, she wanted a friend. At first her family sent her to the doctors but it soon became clear that there was something more going on. Magic had split the two of them. Even after her werewolf gene was trigger, when Ella was in charge she didn’t burn from wolfsbane. It was like they were two completely different people sharing a body. Ella just a normal witch. Charlotte both a werewolf and witch.
The girls soon started referring to themselves as sisters, telling everyone that she was a triplet instead of a twin.
what do they do in the town now? what is their job? hobbies? entertainment? plans?
Ella and Charlotte own an occult/flower and odds and ends shop called ‘enchantments’
Ella likes magic and music (listening to it mostly). She likes flowers and sharing things with people. Helping people find what they needed at her shop.
Charlotte likes to keep up to date with dark magic and normal magic. She is a singer and works as a phone sex worker to help keep enchantments open.
tells us more about their secret and why they don’t want anyone to know?
The first time that Ella went to school was just after her 10th birthday, so when instead of one child two turned up at school. No one said anything. Ella and Charlotte went to school together. The Mikaelsons’ covering for Ella and her twin half.
While her family knows about her split personality, it is not something that is talked about. It’s more of a secret that all of her family keeps. At least the parents. The kids don’t know anything. Given the magical connection between Charlotte and Ella, it is a worry that something would happen to Ella if Charlotte was gone. She could end up back in the hospital. She could die of her genetic condition or maybe just loose her mind completely.

Minx (Prologue)- Stud Sequel
Read Stud Here!

Co writer: @musicalprostitutedear  (formerly: @ livingtheoklife)
Hey guys! We’re so excited to be writing this, we’ve been planning this since like the last chapter of Stud and we hope you enjoy!
----------------
Brian...
Brian tossed and turned around in the bed he could feel Roger shift around next to him. Tomorrow was supposed to be the day and boy, they weren't ready. Brian reached out to Roger, who was kicking and shifting uncontrollably and pulled him into his chest.
"Can't sleep, Rog?"
"How can I? I'm too excited."
"Breath, we have no idea if it will happen tomorrow or the day after," Brian reassured his lover.
"I know, I know..."
Brian could feel the anxiousness rolling off of Roger making him bite back a laugh. He knew Roger hated waiting and had no patience when it comes to something he wants.
"Do you plan on sleeping or do you want me to make us coffee?"
Brian held Roger in his arms as he flipped over and whining, "I can't sleep no matter how hard I try stud."
"So are you telling me to get up and make coffee?"
"Yes."
Brian pushed himself out from underneath Roger with a fake sigh while Roger giggled profusely.
"Anything for you."
Brian walked into the small kitchen and started to brew the coffee that he had already prepared for the morning in case of a situation arising. He leaned against the counter, inhaling sharply. Their flat was piled high with different moving boxes. It was a bittersweet sight but it made Brian happy to have a house of their own. Brian noticed something in the corner of his eye. He turned around to see his husband with adorable messy hair staring at him.
"Like what you see," He asked with a wink.
"Mmm...definitely."
Roger sauntered over, Brian followed his eyes down to his own pair of boxers before looking back into Roger's eyes.
"Such a mess at two A.M, minx?"
"Being a horny mess for you doesn't have a curfew daddy."
Brian wrapped his arms around his husband's waist and pulled their hips together.
"It's going to need a curfew here soon, naughty thing."
Brian smirked as Roger pushed himself against Brian's hip.
"Well, I guess we have to make up for the lost time."
He leaned down and captured Roger's lip before picking him up, keeping his hands underneath Roger's arse. Roger was quick to move away and rest his forehead against Brian's.
"I love you, so much."
"I love you too," Brian gently set Roger back on the ground but refused to release him from the embrace, "Have you talked to your sister recently?"
"Yeah, this morning, I wanted to make sure if she was doing okay. She said she was feeling pretty decent, nothing out of the ordinary."
Brian tried to force himself not to sigh but it came out. He could hardly contain his excitement.
"We should probably call her soon, see how she's doing."
"Really? This early? She's probably asleep," Rogers head moved to Brian's shoulder, "Besides she needs as much rest as she can get."
"Doubt it, the baby is probably kicking and punching her to death. Give her a call, make her happy!"
Brian was attempting to keep things positive but poor Clare is probably exhausted from the baby. He released his husband for his grasp as he nodded and walked toward the phone but it started to ring before he could pick it up.
"Hello?"
Brian walked over and leaned against the wall trying his best to listen in on the conversation. The call was short lived as the line went dead and Roger hung up the phone.
"That was Clare...um...and...we gotta go!"
Brian was frozen. He had no clue what to do. Everything fell into place as Roger started to scramble around the flat to grab their belongings and Brian darted for the baby bag that was neatly placed on their dresser. He pulled on a dirty pair of sweatpants and shirt before sprinting out to the car with Roger.
Brian held a death grip onto the car as Roger skidded into a parking spot. Roger ran out of the car into the hospital Brian following close behind with the baby bag.
"Oh my god...oh my god..."
Roger chanted as they stood in the waiting room. Brian let one of the nurses know that they were here for Claire before returning to his husband. Roger gripped onto his hand making him wince.
Minutes later a nurse appeared from the long hallway.
"Mr. and Mr. May you can go to the room now, she's about 8 centimeters dilated now so it's about time! So if you'll just follow me we can get you right in!"
Brian stared at Roger before hastily walking to follow the nurse. When they arrived at the room Claire was a smiling, overjoyed mess.
"Clare!" Brian said enthusiastically as he walked over to her bedside.
"Hey guys," Clare said with a welcoming but annoyed tone, "Also, you owe me big time, this baby is going bonkers."
"Just a while more and you'll no longer have to feel the baby kicking the shit out."
Brian was a giddy mess as he looked at the baby bump. Their baby was on the way. They all laughed before Claire froze and gripped the bed, groaning in pain.
"Oh shit, Clare-bear are you okay?"
"Um, no!"
"We'll stop surrounding you, do you need anything though Clare?"
"Ugh, no, just this baby out of me," Clare sighed as she rubbed her stomach, "I'm going to miss explaining to my coworkers about how I'm pregnant with my drag queen brother's baby."
"I don't know if we can both muster up the words to thank you for doing this for us, Clare, for caring our baby."
"Oh my god, yeah, you're a legend, Clare."
"Oh don't flatter me so much." Brian stepped back as two nurses stepped into view.
"Alright, Clare, your ten centimeters, it's time to push okay? Are you feeling any discomfort?"
"Yeah a lot," Clare complained.
Brian desperately wanted to pace the room but he knew Clare would smack the ever loving shit out of him. So he walked around to other side of the bed and took Claire's hand.
"You're amazing Claire."
Brian forced himself not to freak out as Claire screamed out in pain with every push. Between Roger's grip earlier and now Clare's he thought his hand was going to break. All the tension in the room ceased when an ear-piercing wail echoed around the room.
"It's a girl!"
Brian looked up to see the nurse cleaning off their baby. His eyes instantly went foggy with tears as their little girl continued to cry. He kissed Clare's hand before walking over to Roger and pulling him into a tight embrace as they carried out the basic procedures. They let Clare cut the cord before the nurse took her back to weigh her and other things.
"We're parents Brian, we have a little girl."
Brian watched as the nurse swaddled their baby in a soft pink blanket and hat on her head before walking over. She was still crying as the nurses handed over her to Clare.
"Look at her, Rog, our baby," Brian sobbed.
"She's so beautiful."
Brian kneeled down next to Roger as they admired their baby.
"It seems she has the Taylor genes,' Clare said with a laugh.
She really did. A small curl of blonde hair could be seen as the small hat fell off her head and her squinted baby blue eyes staring up at Roger who was smiling wide.
"Hi pretty girl, hi! Hi there!"
Clare shifted before passing her to Roger was tearing up once again as he held their baby. Brian stood behind him and wrapping his arms around his hips while leaving pecks at the base of his neck. Their little girl reached up to play with Roger's hair making Brian giggle.
"She's perfect, our little Daisy."
Brian reached his hand around to rub her soft head.
"Oh god, what if she has unruly, curly blonde hair. I'm going to have to get up even earlier to help her with her hair."
"Oh baby, you know I can help you with that, I've gotten quite good at helping you with your curly mess," Roger said before gasping, "Wait until Freddie and Deaky here the news."
Brian chuckled but wasn't listening one-hundred percent of what Roger said.
"Give her here, my turn to hold her," Brian demanded before moving to sit down in the uncomfortable hospital chair next to Clare's bed.
"Alright daddy, I guess you deserve a turn," Roger passed the baby to Brian who was forcing himself not to spill any tears (which obviously didn't work) as he held his daughter for the first time.
"Our little flower," Brian choked out as he stared down at her. He watched as Roger leaned down to kiss her small forehead before he felt a peck on his own.
"I'm so happy Brian, this is a dream come true."
Brian couldn't respond, he moved over so Roger could sit next to him as they both talked about their little Daisy.
Two days later and a whole bunch of necessary paperwork they could finally take their Daisy home. Brian stood next to a desk as he looked at two different outfits. One was a pastel pink dress with white pants and a flowery headband while the other was a purple onesie with a hoodie.
"Clare, which one do you think we should take her home in."
"The pink one obviously," Clare said as she picked up the headband, "it's just too cute."
Brian handed Roger the outfit and packed the onesie back into the baby bag. He made sure he had all of her blankets and belongings before walking over to where Roger was dressing her.
"Who is that? Is that your daddy?"
Daisy lifted her tiny hand to make a grabby motion at Brian. He leaned down and kissed her forehead before holding her tiny hand.
"I'll call Fred and Deaky once we're home. Freddie is probably pacing around wondering when they can come by," Brian joked as he helped Roger dress Daisy.
"Oh God, poor Deaky has to deal with that."
When they reached the flat they set up the crib while Daisy took a nap on the bed (which they still watched her with close supervision) before she woke up and was ready to play. Roger took care of her while Brian rang Freddie that they could come to visit. It wasn't long before Freddie and Deaky were banging on the front door.
"Hello gays," Brian chuckled as he stepped back and let them into the flat.
"I could say the same to you now where is my goddaughter!"
"With Roger in the sitting room."
Deaky gave a quick congratulations before following after Freddie enthusiastically.
"Hey lovelies!"
Brian followed the couple into the bedroom to see his husband and the couple surrounding a giggling Daisy.
"She's gorgeous you two! I'm going to spoil her till death," Freddie exclaimed as bopped her nose.
"We could always have a kid of our own, Freddie," Deaky said with a wink.
"Yes! You guys should!"
Roger jumped up with Daisy cradled in his arms. Brian leaned against the wall as he watched the group talk.
"Anyone want to hold her?"
Roger asked the couple before looking down at Daisy who was tightly gripping a small plush bear.
"You got your little bear? Got your little teddy!"
Brian was beaming with happiness when Roger smiled making Daisy smile as well.
"Love, you can hold her first I'm too nervous!"
Deaky rolled his eyes as he walked up to Roger to take Daisy and cradle her in his arms.
"She's a big girl, aren't you," Deaky said while talking in a baby voice.
"Isn't she so heavy for such a little thing?"
Brian's eyes moved from Deaky and Daisy to Roger, who was walking over to him. His husband wrapped his arms around him as they both watch Deaky hold their daughter.
"You two would be lovely parents."
"One day, I hope, just not now dear," Freddie spoke with a hint of disappointment.
"You'll always have us to help. Daisy is going to need a future friend!"
"But for now, you'll be our babysitters," Roger teased.
"Alright, hand over the baby you hog. I want to hold her," Deaky stepped closer to Freddie before gently placing a half-asleep Daisy into Freddie's arm.
"oh my god... she's so precious... a little princess, I'm gonna cry."
"Freddie would you like me to get you some tissues?"
"No, no. I'm fine!"
Brian chuckled, he looked down at Roger and kissed the top of his head. For a few minutes, it was quiet as Freddie rocked Daisy before she started to wake up. She was fine until she let out a choke which turned into small sobs and then she was wailing.
"Oh no, did I do something? Did I hurt her," Freddie panicked.
"No Fred, she's probably just hungry."
Brian walked over to take Daisy out of his arms and laid her in her crib. Roger walked up from behind him and leaned over the crib, a bottle in hand.
Brian stepped back to watch Roger help feed Daisy as Freddie and Deaky did the same.
"You're a natural, Roger," Deaky said as he sat down. Roger set the bottle down before picking up Daisy to burp her before laying her back down.
"Yeah, I have to admit...I did read some parenting books."
"Some," Brian said with air quotations making Freddie and Deaky giggle.
"More than that, darling, you have that natural maternal instinct."
Brian and Deaky nodded in agreement.
"You guys think so?" Roger wrapped his arms around Brian, "You're doing a great job too you know?"
"Yes, yes."
Deaky and Freddie stood up, "Well I guess we'll get out of your hair. Call if you need anything at all."
"Of course, we'll need a break eventually."
"Oh..we'll definitely need a break."
Roger ran his hands up Brian's check making him suppress a groan. The stress leading up to Daisy's birth they had no sex and god he was getting needy.
"Alright, we'll leave you horny bastards!"
Freddie and Deaky grabbed their belongings before leaving. Brian turned to pull Roger onto his chest.
"I've missed you, daddy," His husband whispered.
"I'm here love and I'm not going anywhere."
"Maybe...later we could..." Brian groaned as he felt Roger's cold hands slide up his chest, "Shag."
"Can't go a few days without my cock can you baby boy."
"Of course not daddy, I love it too much," Roger kissed him and Brian melted into it before he pulled away, "Oh! I said I was going to pack the storage space today, are you going to be okay?"
"I guess you tease go on."
Brian stepped back and walked into the bedroom to see Daisy asleep. He laid down on the bed closing his eyes to try even a minute of sleep. He did, for only a few minutes, the house went quiet sobs coming from the storage room. Brian pushed back the covers and took off running.
"Roger," He shouted as he stepped into the room to see Roger shaking and sobbing, "Love, what's happened... are you okay?"
Brian looked down and saw the photo, there he stood with Mick. Brian snatched the photo off the floor and tore into small pieces. He picked up Roger and carried him into the bedroom.
"Look at me, baby."
Roger's eyes reluctantly met his, "I'm s-sorry."
"Baby, what are you apologizing for," Brian cooed. He lifted Roger's damp shirt over his head while rubbing soothing circles along his back. He leaned against the headboard and laid Roger against his chest.
"I-I shouldn't be reacting like this, he's where he deserves to be. But every day I wake up and...I'm so scared that he's going to come back," Roger looked down at Daisy before turning back to him, "And...And now I worry about her, God, I worry about her..."
"Nobody is gonna hurt you or Daisy . I'll kill anyone who touches my babies," Brian's voice was sharp, "You have us love, we're here now and we aren't going to ever leave you."
Brian smiled as Roger moved closer and kissed him.
"You better not go anywhere," Roger said against his lips.
"I promise you I'm not going anywhere."
Brian kissed Roger's forehead and peaked over at Daisy. He felt Roger playing with his hair but he didn't look over at him until he pulled one of his hairs.
"I love you."
"I love you too, baby," Brian paused, "We should probably try and get some sleep before Daisy wakes up."
"I agree."
Brian covered him and Roger with a thick blanket and drifted off to sleep.
They probably got a half an hour asleep before they were woken by Daisy's cries.
"Babe."
Brian tried to shake Roger awake before he woke up with a gasp.
"I-I'm," His husband yawned, "on it."
Brian sat up as Roger padded over to Daisy and picking her up.
"Aww, poor baby," Roger whispered as he held her, "What's wrong sweet girl?"
Both Brian and Roger chuckled as she immediately stopped crying and let out a stuffy giggle, "You little stinker, you just wanted attention didn't yah?"
Roger walked back to bed with Daisy still in his arms. She played with Roger's hair as he sat down on the bed. Brian sat up against the headboard and stared at his husband soothing their daughter. He was overwhelmed with love and affection.
"You're a beautiful mama."
"You're a handsome daddy," Roger mumbled, his cheeks red and eyes looking down at a now sleeping Daisy.
"Put her back down and come here mama," Brian demanded. Roger nodded and moved quickly to set Daisy back into her crib before crawling up on his lap.
"Can...can you call me that again stud," Roger asked as he played with Brian's shirt.
"You like when I call you mama, minx?"
"Yes~" Roger was gripping onto his shirt now and he couldn't help but smirk. He bucked himself up into Roger.
"Do you want daddy to make you feel good mama?"
"Yes, yes," Roger moaned, "I want you to make love to me baby."
"Shh, if you wake up Daisy I won't be able to."
Brian pulled Roger's boxers down until they dangled around his knees before pushing his own boxers down and taking his cock. Roger squirmed and whimpered as Brian strokes him slowly.
"Think you can cum just from daddy's hand or do you want to beg for my cock?"
Brian laughed as Roger buried his face into Brian's neck but he fell silent when Roger nipped at his neck.
"Please...I miss your cock."
"Let me see your face as I make love to you. Please, mama." Brian's voice was soft but thick with arousal. Roger sat back up and Brian cupped his chin.
"Fuck..." Roger moved against Brian making him moan softly.
"You're so beautiful, mama."
Brian groaned as Roger scratched his chest a smirk on his face.
"God, you're destroying me and you've barely t-touched me yet daddy."
Brian lined himself up with Rogers entrance as he teased him with his tip.
"Uh... fuck..."
"Give mama that cock, daddy, please."
Brian slowly thrust up into Roger while gripping onto his shoulder.
"You feel so good... so warm."
"Fuck me slowly daddy, I wanna feel you."
"Daddy wants nothing more than to pound you into the mattress!" Brian grunted as he was finally sunk inside of Roger. He stared up at Roger a smile on his face as he leaned down to kiss him.
"I want that too, but you said we have to be as quiet as possible and you know I can't possibly be quiet you ravage me."
Brian started to move in and out of Roger slowly, biting his lip to contain his moans.
"I love you, mama." He whispered.
"I-I love you too daddy."
Brian took Roger's hips and started to move faster but keeping the thrusts long. He sat up and nipped at his neck.
"Mmm, I've missed you so much." Brian hummed as Roger's breath hitched, "I-I can't believe we have a family now."
"Mm- I can't believe I have a family with you. My handsome husband."
Brian moved Roger back so he could place his mouth around his nipple, sucking over so gently.
"Oh, G-God!" Roger moaned loudly.
"Shh, you have to keep quiet Roger." Brian spat out before moving back to ravaging his husband's chest and nipples.
"Wait...baby...kiss me, please, daddy."
Brian sat back and looked at Roger, "Why should I do that, mama, you gonna beg for me to kiss you... please beg mama."
Brian moaned as Roger moved on Brian's cock.
"Please, daddy, I want to taste your lips, please kiss me, kiss mama."
He had no patience to hold out on the teasing and quickly smashed his lips against his husbands. Roger pushed into the kiss while moving his hips faster.
"F-Fuck!" Brian grunted against Roger's lips as he moved against his rhythm.
"Oh~ Brian..." Roger panted, "You make m-mama feel so good."
Brian moved faster as he felt his lower body start to boil, "so~ close mama, cum with me mama please."
"Daddy!~" Roger howled as ropes of cum splashed against his stomach. Brian pounded into Roger until he felt himself spill deep inside of him. He collapsed against the bed as his cock twitched but he didn't move from Roger.
"That... that was very much needed." Brian chuckled.
"You're correct." Roger laughed as they both peaked on Daisy, "It's a shame I have to go to work tomorrow night...I know Tim said we could bring her over there this morning but...the patrons get so rowdy sometimes."
"We'll take her, eventually, could always take her before the place opens so the queens can meet her."
"That's a good idea babe!" Brian smirked proudly as Roger kissed his chin, "They'll be so excited."
Brian pulled himself out of Roger before crawling out from underneath him to grab a cloth to clean them.
"Well, we have to make it through the night first."
As he walked back into the bedroom with a wet washcloth he shook his head and his husband's wide smile and big innocent eyes. He couldn't suppress a giggle as Roger crawled over to him and pulled him down into a loving kiss.
"Such a minx." He said jokingly.
"Such a stud." Roger giggled and pecked Brian's lips before settling on his back so Brian could clean off their mess. Brian tried to be gentle but he couldn't help but to tickle his husband every chance he got until he was completely cleaned.
Once both him and Roger were cleaned he tossed the rag aside before being pulled down by Roger. Brian made himself comfortable before pulling the clean blanket over them.
"I love you, babe."
"I love you too.
Roger...
Roger shifted in the bed, the butterflies dancing around in his stomach making him twitch even more. To think in a few short hours...
"Can't sleep, Rog?" Roger felt himself getting pulled close to his lover that was laying next to him, his rough voice making him smile.
"How can I? I'm too excited."
"Breath, we have no idea if it will happen tomorrow or the day after," Roger felt a pang of annoyance surge through him, he was so eager, and Brian's realistic input made him almost scream in frustration.
"I know, I know..."
"Do you plan on sleeping or do you want me to make us coffee?" Roger let out a whine and rolled over to and buried his face into his husband's chest.
"I can't sleep no matter how hard I try stud."
"So are you telling me to get up and make coffee?"
"Yes." Roger giggled.
"Anything for you." Brian let out a teasing sigh as he heaved himself up and disappeared into the hallway. Roger laid there for a few minutes, then, feeling the butterflies flutter more violent made him climb out of bed and padded down the hallway towards the kitchen, making sure to not to trip over any of the boxes that littered their flat. He now stood in the doorway of the kitchen, admiring his shirtless lover.
"Like what you see," Brian winked. Roger smiled and looked down, one of his long blonde strands fell into his face, he looked back up making sure his eyes lingered teasingly at the boxers Brian had on as he sauntered his way over to his husband.
"Mmm...definitely."
"Such a mess at two A.M, minx?"
"Being a horny mess for you doesn't have a curfew daddy."
"It's going to need a curfew here soon, naughty thing," Roger smirked and pressed himself closer to his husband.
"Well, I guess we have to make up for the lost time." Roger was lifted up off the ground and Brian's pecked at his. Roger couldn't help but giggle more, wrapping his arms around Brian's neck and pulling him into one more kiss. He then placed his forehead up against Brian's unruly morning hair.
"I love you, so much." Brian gently set Roger down, but the little blonde was trapped by his husband's arms.
"Have you talked to your sister recently?
"Yeah, this morning, I wanted to make sure if she was doing okay. She said she was feeling pretty decent, nothing out of the ordinary."
"We should probably call her soon, see how she's doing."
"Really? This early? She's probably asleep." Roger rested his head up against Brian's shoulder, "Besides she needs as much rest as she can get."
"Doubt it, the baby is probably kicking and punching her to death. Give her a call, make her happy!" Roger nodded and he shuffled to the phone on the wall and went to reach for it before it started ringing. His eyebrows rose as he picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Roger, it's Clare...it's go time, try not to be a diva and actually be on time." Her breath staggered as the phone hung up. Roger's blue eyes were the size of dinner plates as he looked over at Brian, a scared yet excited smile on his face.
"That was Clare...um...and...we gotta go!" Roger, unlike his husband who was standing there as if his feet had rooted to the floor, bolted down the hallway and started to sloppily get dressed, Brian followed suit minutes later. They were out the door and in the car within a blink of an eye and they sped down the street towards the hospital.
"Oh my god...oh my god..." Roger kept repeating as he turned into the hospital parking lot. He was in a state of shock that blinded him to the fact that they were already sitting in the waiting room. He also didn't realize the death grip he was putting on Brian's poor hand. A couple of minutes later a nurse rounded the corner, a wide smile spread across her face and a clipboard in hand.
"Mr. and Mr. May you can go to the room now, she's about 8 centimeters dilated now so it's about time! So if you'll just follow me we can get you right in!" Roger and Brian stared at each other as they were lead into the room that Clare was in. Once they got inside, Clare was a giddy mess.
"Clare!" Brian beamed and practically skipped over to her bedside. Her blonde hair was plastered against her forehead and her blue eyes looked tired, but her smile was as lively as ever.
"Hey, guys!" Clare looked over at Roger," Also, you owe me big time, this baby is going bonkers."
"Just a while more and you'll no longer have to feel the baby kicking the shit out." Roger smiled when Clare laughed but froze when she gasped in pain, gripping the bed.
"Oh shit, Clare bear are you okay?"
"Um, no!" She let out another disheveled laugh.
"We'll stop surrounding you, do you need anything though Clare?"
"Ugh, no, just this baby out of me." She rubbed her stomach and sighed out,"I'm going to miss explaining to my coworkers about how I'm pregnant with my drag queen brother's baby."
"I don't know if we can both muster up the words to thank you for doing this for us, Clare, for caring our baby."
"Oh my god, yeah, you're a legend, Clare."
"Oh don't flatter me so much." Clare shifted in the bed uncomfortably as two nurses strolled.
"Alright, Clare, your ten centimeters, it's time to push okay? Are you feeling any discomfort?"
"Yeah, a lot," Clare whined. Roger watched as Brian paced over to the other side of Clare, grabbing her hand, Roger did the same kneeling down next to her.
"You're amazing Clare."
It seemed as if the delivery took forever, with Clare squeezing his hand until it turned white and her screaming rattled him to the bone. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but as a small piercing cry rang out in the delivery room, Roger's heart swelled and tears streamed down his face.
"It's a girl!" One of the nurses beamed. Brian ran over to him and pulled him into a hug, he was a sobbing mess. Roger was almost heartbroken when they had to take their little girl away for her first check up to make sure everything was okay. He desperately wanted to hold her and take her home.
"We're parents Brian, we have a little girl." Roger sniffled, he heard his sister cry next to him. God, they were all so emotional. The nurses came back moments later, with their little girl swaddled in a fluffy pink blanket and matching hat. They gave her over to Clare who was cooing at the still crying baby.
"Look at her, Rog, our baby,"
"She's so beautiful." Roger let out a sob and stepped closer to his daughter, kneeling down once more.
"It seems she has the Taylor genes." Clare let out a laugh. Roger had thought that since Brian had to obviously be the one to give a sample for the surrogacy, the baby would look like him, but now staring into the big round tearful blue eyes and the small tufts of blonde hair, he couldn't be more wrong. As soon as their daughter made eye contact with Roger, her screams fade away into a soft gurgle which made him beam.
"Hi pretty girl, hi! Hi there!" Roger was so star struck, but when Clare handed over the tiny girl to him, he completely lost it again. Standing there with his little girl in his arms, sobbing hysterically as she reached out and gripped one of Roger's golden tresses. Roger felt his lover's soft kisses on his neck making his watery smile grow.
"She's perfect, our little Daisy." Brian reached to stroke her little blonde curls.
"Oh god, what if she has unruly, curly blonde hair. I'm going to have to get up even earlier to help her with her hair." Roger let out a laugh but his heart melted as Daisy little lips formed a what looked like the being of a smile.
"Oh baby, you know I can help you with that, I've gotten quite good at helping you with your curly mess." Roger than gasped looked over at Brian, "Wait until Freddie and Deaky here the news." Freddie and Deaky called every day to make sure they hadn't missed anything, it was like they were the ones getting a baby from how excited they were.
"Give her here, my turn to hold her," Roger giggled at the demand as Brian slumped down into the hospital chair.
"Alright daddy, I guess you deserve a turn." He said handing over their daughter to Brian, he then turned over to check on Clare, who was now fast asleep. Roger pulled up another chair and sat next to his husband, who was a mess of tears.
"Our little flower," Roger bent down to give Daisy a kiss on her tiny forehead before giving Brian a kiss as well.
"I'm so happy Brian, this is a dream come true." Roger sniffed, rubbing Daisy's head.
Two days later they were at the hospital, finally getting ready to take their daughter home. Roger and Brian were now standing over two outfits, trying to decide what to take Daisy home in.
"Clare, which one do you think we should take her home in."
"The pink one obviously." Clare picked up the little headband," it's just too cute." Roger grabbed the outfit and walked gently over to Daisy who wiggling around on the changing table.
"What you doin' wiggle worm? Huh? Ready to go home?" He cooed at her as he pulled white pants over her legs. He then pulled on the dress and looked over to see Brian crossing over,"Who is that? Is that your daddy?" Roger laughed as Daisy reached her little hand out for Brian, slowly curling in her fingers in a grabby motion. Brian held her hand and kissed her forehead.
"I'll call Fred and Deaky once we're home. Freddie is probably pacing around wondering when they can come by," Roger and Brian got Daisy dressed.
"Oh God, poor Deaky has to deal with that." Roger laughed and then Clare and his husband were out the door. They got back the flat and started to set up the wooden crib that his mom has given them at the baby shower in their bedroom. Once they were done, Roger walked over to the bed to play with Daisy while Brian phoned Freddie and Deaky. Roger heard the front door open and talking in the other room and he looked over at Daisy who was smiling up at him and waving her little arms around and kicking her feet.
"Guess who's come to visit little flower! You're going to love Freddie and Deaky." Roger kissed her forehead before propping her up on his lap. The door swung open moments later, the other couple excitedly running over to greet the little girl.
"Hey, lovelies!" Roger smiled and held Daisy arm to wave her little hand at them.
"She's gorgeous you two! I'm going to spoil her till death," Freddie grasped as he lovingly booped Daisy's nose.
"We could always have a kid of our own, Freddie," Roger lit up.
"Yes! You guys should!" Roger stood up, Daisy cradled in his arms, "Anyone want to hold her?" Daisy was gripping tight onto a little teddy bear as she let out a little noise, "You got your little bear? Got your little teddy!" Roger had a huge smile on his face, he could feel the love for his daughter raidate off of him.
"Love, you can hold her first I'm too nervous!" He suppressed a giggle as Deaky rolled his eyes and stepped up to hold Daisy.
"She's a big girl, aren't you,"
"Isn't she so heavy for such a little thing?" Roger crossed over to Brian and wrapped his arms around his husband, watching Deaky look down at her.
"You two would be lovely parents."
"One day, I hope, just not now dear," Freddie sighed, disappointed.
"You'll always have us to help. Daisy is going to need a future friend!"
"But for now, you'll be our babysitters." Roger teased, a laugh spilling out.
"Alright, hand over the baby you hog. I want to hold her, " Roger snorted out a laugh.
"oh my god... she's so precious... a little princess, I'm gonna cry."
"Freddie would you like me to get you some tissues?" Roger smirked and giggled.
"No, no. I'm fine!" Roger heard Brian chuckle, making him smile, but when Brian kissed him on the head, a small blush crept up into his face. Roger basked in the peaceful silence before a wail pierced through it.
"Oh no, did I do something? Did I hurt her,"
"No Fred, she's probably just hungry." Roger ran to prepare a bottle for her, making sure the formula was perfect, and hurrying over to the crib, bending down to feed her. Softly singing to his daughter as she chugged away.
"You're a natural, Roger," He as Daisy pulled away from the bottle, he lifted her up, burped her and laid her back down, he then turned around.
"Yeah, I have to admit...I did read some parenting books."
"Some," Roger rolled his eyes and laughed, remembering the box by the closet that was overflowing with them.
More than that, darling, you have that natural maternal instinct." Roger blushed as Brian and Deaky nodded.
"You guys think so?" He wrapped his arms around Brian, "You're doing a great job too you know?" Roger smiled up at his husband.
"Yes, yes."
Roger watched as their friends stood up, "Well I guess we'll get out of your hair. Call if you need anything at all."
"Of course, we'll need a break eventually."
"Oh..we'll definitely need a break." Roger shot Freddie and Deaky a suggestive wink, running his hands up Brian's chest to wrap his arms around his neck.
"Alright, we'll leave you horny bastards!" Deaky and Freddie grabbed their things before heading out the door. Roger was pulled tighter against Brian's chest and he could feel his whole body heat up, and man was he craving Brian.
"I've missed you, daddy," Roger whispered.
"I'm here love and I'm not going anywhere." He bit his lip looking up into Brian's eyes and then leaning up to kiss him.
"Maybe...later we could..." Roger pressed himself more against his husband's body and sliding his hands underneath Brian's shirt, "Shag." He giggled. Roger knew that they would be busy packing and taking care of Daisy, which was their main priorities, but he was just so eager to have Brian on top of him that he was about to pull him onto the couch and let Brian have his way with him.
"Can't go a few days without my cock can you baby boy."
"Of course not daddy, I love it too much." Roger kissed him again before pulling away, "Oh! I said I was going to pack the storage space today, are you going to be okay?"
"I guess you tease go on." Roger bit his lip to suppress a giggle before running towards the storage space. He unlocked the storage closet and walked inside. There were boxes already stuffed to the brim inside, he began taking other things and packing them neatly into boxes. He shuffled through an old treasure chest that was shoved in the back corner. He then picked up a crinkled and dusty photo, his eyes went dark.
"Come here Blondie." A smile said that sent a nerve shooting down Roger's spine, but he smiled back nonetheless. Roger walked over to the man with greasy dark locks and dead blue eyes. "You look so handsome today Roger." Roger looked down at the black tux he was wearing, it was his sister's wedding and they were about to take pictures.
"Thank you, babe." Roger sat on Mick's lap and kissed him, "You do too...so sexy" He felt the disgust creep up and drown his whole body as Mick smirked.
"I want to leave early alright? Going to meet a couple of mates at the bar tonight."
"What?" Roger furrowed his eyebrows, he honestly couldn't believe what he was hearing, "But...This is my sister's wedding I-I can't just leave! Clare wants us to stay until the end, I want to stay!"
"Do as I say! What? You want to stick around and talk to people who don't even like you?" Mick snapped, grabbing Roger's arm.
"No..." He then remembered the bruises that peppered his upper arm, whincing at Mick's firm grip.
"Then we are leaving early, I also wanna show off that ass to the boys." Roger grit his teeth but put on a fake smile as the photographer walked over with his sister and her husband. They stood in the beautiful garden Roger's sister got married in, Mick's hand firmly around Roger's waist as if to say 'I own you and you are mine, my little puppet'
Roger didn't realize that he was curled up in a ball on the cold cement floor, shaking violently. His heart was racing one hundred beats per minutes, he couldn't breathe, tears streamed down his face as his fist clenched the little photo. Roger didn't hear Brian come in, nor did he register what his paniced husband was asking. Before he knew it, he was being carried into the bedroom.
"Look at me, baby." Roger heard his husband's calming voice as he started to come down from his episode. His baby blue eyes flicked over to Brian. He was still shaking, tears still making their way down his face.
"I'm s-sorry." Was all Roger could choke out.
"Baby, what are you apologizing for," Roger let Brian pull his shirt over his head, then pulling him so his face was buried into his husband's chest. He let out a small whimper, moving closer to Brian.
"I-I shouldn't be reacting like this, he's where he deserves to be. But every day I wake up and...I'm so scared that he's going to come back." It was true, every night Roger would make sure Brian wasn't looking before checking every window was locked and there was no way someone could get in and if Roger had to get up in the middle of the night, he made sure there was enough light for him to see his way around.. Roger looked up at Brian, then over at the crib were their daughter slept,"And...And now I worry about her, God, I worry about her..." He gripped onto Brian's shirt and let more tears streak down his cheeks.
"Nobody is gonna hurt you or Daisy. I'll kill anyone who touches my babies," Roger cracked a smiled at Brian's sharpness, "You have us, love, we're here now and we aren't going to ever leave you." He pulled himself more on top of Brian and gave him a loving kiss.
"You better not go anywhere." Roger joked, his lips still on his husband's.
"I promise you I'm not going anywhere." He entangled his fingers within Brian's hair gently tugging on it a bit as he played with one of the curls.
"I love you."
"I love you too, baby," Roger smiled, "We should probably try and get some sleep before Daisy wakes up."
"I agree." Roger laughed before curling up on Brian's chest, closing his eyes, a wave of exhaustion crashed over him making him yawn.
"Babe." Roger gasped awake, hearing Daisy crying.
"I-I'm," Roger yawned loudly, "On it." He stumbled out of bed and ran over to Daisy.
"Aww, poor baby," Roger whispered, picked up the wailing baby, he held her in his arms, "What's wrong sweet girl?" He soothed her, she fell silent and let out a sniffly giggle, "You little stinker, you just wanted attention didn't yah?" Roger padded over to the bed, with Daisy still in his arms, who was playing with his hair that was dangling above her. He sat down next to Brian again, laying Daisy on his own chest.
"You're a beautiful mama." Roger's face heated up instantly, it turned a violent shade of red. Something about that nickname, especially coming Brian made his heart start to beat faster. He inhaled sharply.
"You're a handsome daddy," Roger mumbled back, looking down at Daisy who was now fast asleep once more.
"Put her back down and come here mama," He nodded quickly, getting up, kissing Daisy on the forehead before settling her back into her crib. Then, he slowly made his way back, crawling up Brian's body, sitting down onto Brian's lap. He bit his lip and look down at his husband.
"Can...can you call me that again stud?" Roger whispered as he toyed with the hem of Brian's shirt.
"You like when I call you mama, minx?" Roger clutched Brian's shirt now, letting out a shuddered breath.
"Yes~" Roger saw the smirk playing at the corner of his husband's lips. He then let out a gasp as Brian ground up against him.
"Do you want daddy to make you feel good mama?"
"Yes, yes!" Roger moaned quietly, "I want you to make love to me baby." He was already so hot and bothered.
"Shh, if you wake up Daisy I won't be able to." Roger bit his lip to stay as quiet as possible as Brian shuffled down Roger's boxers and then his own. He let out a smallest and quietest whimper as Brian took hold of his cock, making him squirm with eagerness.
"Think you can cum just from daddy's hand or do you want to beg for my cock." Roger buried his face into Brian's neck, nipping at his neck.
"Please...I miss your cock."
"Let me see your face as I make love to you. Please, mama." Roger let out another quiet moan as he moved so Brian could see him.
"Fuck..." Roger whined, gently grinding against Brian.
"You're so beautiful, mama." Roger softly scratched down Brian's chest with a slight smirk on his face
"God, you're destroying me and you've barely t-touched me yet daddy."
"Uh... fuck..." Roger whined as Brian teased his entrance with the tip of his cock.
"Give mama that cock, daddy, please."
"You feel so good... so warm." Brian thrust slowly into Roger, Roger was so needy at the point bit he tried to compose himself as much as possible.
"Fuck me slowly daddy, I wanna feel you."
"Daddy wants nothing more than to pound you into the mattress!" Brian grunted. Roger smiled and pecked Brian on the lips.
"I want that too, but you said we have to be as quiet as possible and you know I can't possibly be quiet when you ravage me."
"I love you, mama," Brian said as he started to softly thrust into Roger. Roger's eyes flutter shut from the pleasure and let out a small moan.
"I-I love you too daddy." Brian started to thrust into him a little bit fast, Roger huffed when Brian held on to his hips and nipped at his neck.
"Mmm, I've missed you so much." Roger's breath hitched, "I-I can't believe we have a family now." Roger whispered.
"Mm- I can't believe I have a family with you. My handsome husband." Roger let out a louder moan as Brian sucked on his nipple.
"Oh, G-God!"
"Shh, you have to keep quiet Roger." He sighed as Brian went back to attacking his chest.
"Wait...baby...kiss me, please, daddy."
"Why should I do that, mama, you gonna beg for me to kiss you... please beg mama." Roger let out a huff, furrowing his eyebrows, but then he started to slowly lift himself off of Brian's length before slowly sinking back down.
"Please, daddy, I want to taste your lips, please kiss me, kiss mama." He whispered seductively and he continued to slowly ride Brian's cock. He knew he broke Brian when the teasing ceased and his lips crashed against Roger's. Roger was quick to push up into the kiss, making to snap his hips a little more harshly.
"F-Fuck!" Brian started to thrust up to meet Roger's rhythm making him feel the burning in his stomach grow.
"Oh~ Brian..." Roger panted, "You make m-mama feel so good."
"so~ close mama, cum with me mama please." That was all Roger need, he gasped and felt his orgasm crash over him in overwhelming waves.
"Daddy!~" A few thrusts later Brian spilled deep inside Roger making his let out another small moan. They laid there, Roger's face pressed against Brian's chest as his husband laid underneath him.
"That... that was very much needed."
"You're correct." Roger laughed along with Brian before glancing over at a sleeping Daisy, "It's a shame I have to go to work tomorrow night...I know Tim said we could bring her over there this morning but...the patrons get so rowdy sometimes."
"We'll take her, eventually, could always take her before the place opens so the queens can meet her."
"That's a good idea babe!" Roger smiled up at Brian and kissed him on the chin, "They'll be so excited."
"Well, we have to make it through the night first," Brian said as he wiggled out from underneath Roger and disappeared. Roger laid now on his back as Brian entered with a washcloth, the smile on Roger's face grew even more. Roger crawled over to Brian, his eyes big with innocence as he grabbed Brian's neck and pulled him down into a loving kiss.
"Such a minx." Brian joked as the pulled away.
"Such a stud." Roger giggled and gave Brian another peck before he laid back and let his husband do his thing. Brian cleaned Roger off, but of course, taking every opportunity he could to tease him. As Brian was done clean both himself and Roger off, he pulled his husband on top of him. Roger snuggled deep into Brian's neck and sighed happily and Brian pulled the on top of them.
"I love you, babe."
"I love you too." He let his eyes slip shut and fell instantly asleep.
Mick...
Somewhere on the outskirts of the city, a shadow of a man crouched in the corner of a padded room. His arms were restrained by a tight white jacket, his greasy hair covered his sunken grey face. He had a plan, a dastardly plan, that made his wicked lips curl up into a smirk. He had found out how to get out of the jacket earlier in the week and was waiting for the right moment, and today was today. He breathed in deeply to puff up his chest and twisted violently to the side, wriggling free of the jacket. He cracked his sore knuckles and crawled over to the other corner of the room, reaching down into the padding and pulled out a blade. He heard the door unlock as one of the guards nodded at him and let him free. He walked down the hallway, discarding his hospital clothes for new clothes and traveled the long and winding hallways, making sure none of the other guards caught him as the devil walked freely into the eerily calm night.

Queer book recommendations!
Here is my promised list of queer books! I’ve included a small plot summary, what I liked about the books, what kind of representation they have (queer, disability, POC etc.) and warnings for common triggers. If you want to know more about a specific book, feel free to ask me! The order is random and says nothing about how much I liked a book. All the links go to the books’ goodreads pages, unless it is available for free online, then the link goes to where you can find it. Some of the authors have tumblrs, I’ve added those as well in case you want to follow them (I might have missed some, though). I have included a few novellas/novelettes in this posts, but I will probably make an additional post for queer short stories. Shoot me an ask if you want to be notified when I have done so!
The Second Mango by Shira Glassman  @shiraglassman (Fantasy/Romance)
Young lesbian queen Shulamit is looking for a girlfriend with the help of her bodyguard Rivka (who is a woman pretending to be a man) and the bodyguard’s shapeshifting dragon/horse, when they learn about a sorcerer who is turning women into stone and decide to rescue them.
This book is the first of the Mangoverse books (there are three others and one short story collection) and I really liked all of them. While the characters’ queerness is obviously important to the plot (especially in book one and two), the plot isn’t just about that and the characters also have adventures that have nothing to with their orientation (in book three they get to solve a crime). These books are very fluffy, not overly serious in tone (but also not too silly), with happy endings for all the queer characters. Ideal when you just want to read something lighthearted. Most of the characters are Jewish and later books also have bi and trans characters. There is some homophobia in the setting, esp. in book two, but for the most part the queer characters don’t have to suffer for being queer.
Shira has also written a bunch of other books which I’ve heard are very good, but I haven’t read them.
To Stand In The Light by Kayla Bashe @kayla-bird (Fantasy/Romance)
Shadow, a nonbinary transfem superhero with a tragic past saves the life of Bean, another young superhero and they quickly become friends. While Bean goes to superhero school, Shadow is away on adventures, and when they come back after a few years, they both have developed feelings for each other, but are too insecure and too scared they are not good enough for each other to admit it. And then a supervillain shows up…
This book deals with some quite heavy themes like different kinds of trauma, mental illness and disability, but it’s never grim and I actually count it as another “feel-good” book, because it also has the different characters be wonderfully supportive of each other. The character interactions are definitely the focus of this book, the superhero part is mostly just a background for them. Besides queer main characters, this book also has a lot of other minority representation- Shadow has PTSD and chronic pain, Bean has ADHD and is a Korean transracial adoptee, and there are also otherwise disabled characters, characters if colour, one Jewish character and one DID system (there were probably more, but those are the ones I remember). IIRC, there is no homophobia in the setting and only one minor case of transphobia. Tbh, this book isn’t actually all that great from a purely literary point but for me the characters and themes more than made up for it.
Pantomime by Laura Lam @lauraroselam (Fantasy)
Gene is intersex and runs away from home when his parents want to force him to have surgery to make him “a normal girl”. He joins a circus disguised as a boy and calls himself Micah. While he’s getting used to his new life, he finds out that the circus has some bad secrets and also starts to have strange visions.
This book is the first in a fantastic trilogy and my summary there doesn’t do it justice at all. Pantomime starts out with relatively few magical elements, but book two and three have more of those. This trilogy is more plot driven than my first two recommendations, and it’s probably also the closest to your typical fantasy novels.
Micah is intersex and bigender, one of the other main characters is a gay man and there was also a minor trans women character. Micah’s has to deal with intersexism, mostly in book one, but otherwise the characters don’t suffer for being queer. TW for domestic violence.
This is easily one of the best books I’ve read lately, so go read it!
Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe by Benjamin Sáenz (YA)
Ari and Dante are two very different teens who build an unlikely friendship that very slowly develops into romance. (I realise that this probably counts as a spoiler, but this book wouldn’t be on this list without that, so you would be able to guess it anyway.)
This is a beautifully written book, almost poetic. It doesn’t really have an overarching plot, it just tells us about the lives of these two boys and everything that includes. It’s not a romance book, and while romance does happen, it’s actually just a very small part of the book. I would have liked a bit more focus on the romantic relationship - the way it is the ending felt a bit incomplete to me, but there’s a sequel coming out, so hopefully that will help. Both Ari and Dante are Mexican-American. TW for violent homophobia and one very bad accident.
The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers (Sci-fi)
A bunch of humans and aliens have adventures in space.
This is another fantastic book, that is both very well written and the kind of book that makes you feel good while reading it (when it doesn’t make you cry). It’s not as fluffy as some of the other books on this list, but while bad things happen it is, ultimately, still optimistic and never grim. The cast is a very diverse mix of humans and aliens, including aliens with a nonbinary gender, unusual family structures disabled characters. There is a f/f romance happening, but it’s only a subplot, so if you’re reading it only for the queerness you might be disappointed but this book is good enough it might even be worth reading if everyone was straight. ;)
Capricious: Gender Diverse Pronouns Edition - A.C.Buchanan (Editor, lots of different authors) (Sci-Fi/Fantasy)
This is a short story anthology in which all stories feature a major character who uses gender neutral pronouns, including singular they but also several different others like ze/hir, per/pers, e/eir etc. Some of the stories have pronouns/gender as a topic (like “Sandals full of Rainwater” by AE Prevost where a person from a culture that doesn’t have gender moves to a culture that has three genders and pronouns that change depending on both the speaker’s and the other person’s gender, or “Ad Astra Per Aspera" by Nino Cipri, in which the protagonist is pretty sure their gender “left me for someone else”.) while others are typical SFF short stories which just happen to have a nonbinary protagonist.
A few of the stories are really fantastic, but all of them are worth reading.
Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan (YA)
Craig and Harry want to break the world record for the longest kiss, Tariq was beaten up by homophobes, Neil and Peter are a happy couple, Avery (who’s trans) and Ryan are just starting a new relationship and Cooper suffers from crushing loneliness, stuck in the closet. This book tells these vaguely related stories about different gay teens, narrated by the ghosts of the gay men who died from AIDS.
This book is definitely an interesting read that contrasts the lives of gay people during the AIDS crisis with that of gay teens now, showing both how much things have improved but also how hard it can still be, not shying away from the darkest parts of queer lives. TW for violent homophobia, depression and suicide.
Documenting Light by E.E. Ottoman (Contemp./Romance)
Wyatt and Greyson try to find out who the two men in an old photograph are, while dealing with various difficulties in their lives. Romance happens.
This is a very short book (novella?) that describes the slowly developing romance between Wyatt, a closeted nonbinary person, and Greyson, a trans man who was cut off by most of his family after coming out. It’s not as lighthearted as the other romance books on this list, but it’s still optimistic and I really liked it. TW for transphobia.
Freya Snow series by L.C. Mawson @lcmawson (YA/Urban Fantasy)
After Freya finds out about her magical heritage, and learns to use her magic, she gets into various adventures, starting when some demons show up to kill her.
This is a series with currently ten books, with a total of 13 planned, and there are two spin of series with other main characters. These books have several queer characters (Freya is bi), which does come up often, but the focus is more on the action. There are several autistic characters (Freya is one of them), one deaf character and one character in a wheelchair, also several POC. I don’t remember how much homophobia there was in the setting, so if there was any, it wasn’t much.
These books aren’t literary masterpieces, so don’t expect too much, but they are still enjoyable to read. The first one is free, so you can give it a try to see if you like it.
All that also goes for the spinoff books.
Love/Hate by L.C.Mawson (YA/Sci-Fi/Romance)
Emotion-fueled superheros protect the last few existing cities from monsters. Claire just got chosen as the new aspect of Love, but she’s in love with the aspect of Hate - which is a very bad combination.
There are currently four books in this series, I don’t know how many more are planned. Like the Freya Snow books, they have a lot of diversity but especially in later books the focus is on the action. There are again several autistic characters, including Claire, and several queer characters including a trans women and an agender character. Most of the cast are POC. There is no homophobia or transphobia in the setting.
Like the Freya snow books, these aren’t super great but still a fun read (though I don’t like how the third book ended and where the plot is heading, but that is just my preference. I also haven’t read the fourth book yet.)
Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire @seananmcguire(Fantasy/Mystery)
What happens with the children that were pulled in other worlds when they come back? Nancy is one of them, and she gets sent to the Home for Wayward Children where she finally meets others like her, who understand her wish to return to her other world. But then a gruesome murder happens and it’s up to Nancy and her new friends to find out who did it.
I absolutely loved the premise of this book, the characters and the first half of the story - it is really beautifully written-, but I really didn’t like the mystery stuff- it changed the tone of the story completely in a way that just didn’t work for me. (You’ve probably noticed by now that I prefer fluffy stories and this one turned from fluffy to grim very quickly.) So if you don’t mind that, you might like this book, I know a lot of people do, that’s why I’m including it on this list. Nancy is asexual, and one of the other major characters is a trans boy. There was probably more diversity that I’m forgetting because I didn’t reread the book and it wasn’t the focus of the book. There were mentions of transphobia, but no cases during the story. TW for murder, gore etc. (It probably wasn’t as bad as I make it sound, I was just really upset when I finished the book so I’m remembering more of the negatives.)
Iwunen Interstellar Investigations by Bogi Takács (Sci-Fi/Fantasy)
Ranai and Mirun, two autistic nonbinary people solve magical crimes in space. There are a lot of cupcakes. The prequel season shows how Ranai and Mirun met and includes some political intrigue. The first (current) season deals with health issues Mirun is having and mysterious accidents.
This is a web serial (updates once per week) which I totally fell in love with when I found it last week. That description makes it sound more silly than it is- it’s another story where a lot of bad things happen but that still feels good to read. It has some very interesting worldbuilding. The majority of characters are nonbinary, autistic and POC. Mirun and Ranai are also both demisexual and Mirun is physically disabled. The book also has some nonsexual kinky elements. There are mentions of discrimination against trans and neurodiverse people, but nothing of that actually happens in the story. TW for lots of medical stuff and major injuries.
Bogi Takács has also written several short stories that also feature queer main characters and which are also worth reading.
A Portrait of the Desert in Personages of Power by Rose Lemberg (Fantasy)
I’m just going to copy the description on goodreads: “This is a Birdverse novella told from the viewpoint of the Old Royal, who is a bigender trans person. A queer, kinky survivor and exile who struggles with his ethics meets the ancient bigender ruler of the vast Burri desert...they hit it off. This has many trans/non-binary people, advanced discussions of consent and sadistic desire, mythic grandeur, non-gratuitous engagement with trauma, a giant flaming bird, and the magical history of Birdverse. CWs for kink, edgeplay, and discussions of trauma.” Both of the main characters are POC (I think), and I think also not neurotypical. Also, additional TW for brief cases of transphobia that gets called out in-story.
This is a novella, also available as an (amazing) podcast, and I really loved it. It is a very kinky story, but it is all non-sexual kink, there is no genital sex happening. I also wouldn’t classify it as erotica, because I think it wasn’t primarily written to be hot, it’s more about exploring the complex emotions of the characters, trust and about discussions of consent. And I think this worked out really, really great. All in all, if you aren’t completely squicked out or triggered by kink, I definitely recommend this.
Geometries of Belonging by Rose Lemberg (Fantasy)
Mind-healer Parét is asked to cure an autistic teenager- who really, really doesn’t want to be cured. At the same time, he’s getting entangled in political intrigue concerning his partner (who happens to be the Raker from A Portrait…, but many years later).
I absolutely adore this novelette, and I think I reread it about three times in the first week after I found it. It has the strong focus on the characters  and relationships and the slower pace that I like in stories, and it just really stayed with me. I think it dealt really well with the topic of a potential cure for autism (the author is autistic themselves). I also liked how it portrayed both a very queerphobic society and one where trans/queer people and polyamory are completely accepted. This story deals with some difficult topics, and it’s not a fluffy story, but it’s not grim or depressing in any way. (If this was posted on AO3, it might be labelled Hurt/Comfort). There are several queer characters, autistic and mentally ill characters and some POC. The MC is in a D/s relationship, but it’s not as graphic as in A Portrait… TW for ableism, transphobia, homophobia, parental abuse, suicidal ideation.

After Jim been reborn as a half troll with new genes he starts experiencing attraction to males and having been straight during his time as a human is unsure of what this means or how to handle his new identity. Reviving support and advice from friends, the trolls ( blinky +argh ) and his mom and strickler TLDR half-Troll Jim is gay but human Jim was not.
No Matter What
“I’m gay.”
Jim told the group gathered around the bonfire.  He looked around to each and every face there, hoping to see their responses in their expressions.  Though he’d never been the best at reading faces.
Toby offered him a big smile and a double thumbs up.  He’d been the first Jim confided in when he realized his identity and didn’t hesitate in offering to run support for this moment.
Claire smiled shakily at Jim.  He knew she was still adjusting to the idea.  She was the only other person beside Toby he told before tonight, and he mostly had because she’d admitted she’d had a crush on him for months and had finally mustered the courage to say something to him.  It had been awkward to deny her until he’d gathered his own courage and explained why he kept rejecting her.
Their friendship had grown strong though in the time that they knew each other and over the course of all the battles.  One couldn’t necessarily defeat an ancient evil sorceress side-by-side with someone without becoming rather close to them.  Both he and Claire were determined to maintain their friendship.  Though she had asked for time and a little space to move on from her crush on him, which Jim kind of understood.  Still, Claire wanted to be supportive of him, so had offered to run support along with Tobes tonight.
Blinky and Arrrgghh!!!, Jim knew would be the easiest to tell of everyone else they’d gathered together.  The two had been openly together since Jim had first met them and were a massive part of the trollish LGBTQ+ community.
Arrrgghhh!!! responded first.  He messed with Jim’s hair affectionately.  “Hmm.  Jim gay.  Like Arrrgghh!!!  That good.  Like Jim troll like Arrrgghh!!!”  When Jim ducked out from under his large hand, Arrrgghh!!! grinned toothily at the smaller half-troll.  “Jim good.”
Blinky came up to Jim, wrapped all four of his arms around him, and hugged him tightly.  “My magnificent son, I am so very proud of you for deciding to tell us.  I have known for a long time that you are brave, but sharing something of such importance still takes a special kind of courage.”
“Thanks, Blink.”  Jim whispered back.
Blinky patted him on the shoulders, and then stepped to the side so he could stand next to Jim and face the group with him.  He put one of his hands on Jim’s shoulder.
The only ones in the group around the bonfire who remained were Mom and Strickler, who, if Jim were going to be completely honest with himself, were the two he was the most worried about.  They were the only two he hadn’t ever talked to about anything like this and were the ones he had the most trouble guessing the reactions of.  Mom, ok, she’d handled the whole “my son is a troll now” thing extremely well, but this was different.  And Strickler?  Strickler was still someone Jim was trying to figure out.
Barbara stood and walked over to Jim.  For a long moment she just stood before him, her eyes searching his.  He gulped.  This was going to be bad.  So bad.
Then Barbara hugged him.  “Thank you for feeling that you can include me in this too, kiddo.”  She spoke in his ear.  “I’ll always, always support you.”  She squeezed him tight.
Jim let out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding in.  Slowly, he lifted his arms and hugged her back.
When they broke apart, Barbara went to stand on the other side of him from Blinky, though she stood a little behind him rather than by his side.  She crossed her arms and gave Strickler what could only be described as a Look.
On the one hand, the Look made Jim worry.  If Strickler wouldn’t accept him, it may stop him from admitting that until he could trap Jim alone later.  On the other, he kind of liked that Mom would do that for him.
“I see that I am the only one left, but I hope that doesn’t not render my support any less important than any of the others,” Strickler spoke.  “You and I have not always seen eye to eye, but on this, Young Atlas, I am fully your ally.”  He offered Jim a half-smile and a small nod.
After a moment, Jim nodded back.
Jim clenched his hands into fists and then unclenched them.  Now, for the other part of this.  He’d come out because he wanted his friends and family to know and support him, but he also wanted their advice.  There was still something he wasn’t certain of that he wanted to be.
“Thank you, everyone,” Jim started.  “For accepting me.  It, it means a lot.  But there’s something else too that I…”  Out of the corner of his eye, Jim say his mom’s expression turn into a worried frown.  He hurried his next words.  “I think I may be gay because I’m a troll now.  Like I never really thought about this before I changed so maybe the reason I’m gay now is that something in me changed when I did the potion and—”
“I’ve been trying to tell him that it doesn’t matter.”  Toby interrupted.  “Ok, you being gay does matter.  Like a lot.  But now how you got there.  Not like that.  Humans can be gay.  Trolls can be gay.  Everyone can be gay!  You’re awesome sauce!”
Jim huffed.  “I know that’s what you think, but I…I just want to know.”
“I’m afraid that is not something you can know for sure.”  Strickler said, silencing both friends.  “As the only, ahem, changeling here, I may be the only one who can give insight to both humans and trolls.”  Everyone turned to face him.  He continued, “There have been known cases where a changeling has felt differently about attraction when in either troll or human form.  So it is within the realm of possibility that a transformation such as Jim’s could have led to such a change in him.  However, the instances I am referring to vary wildly between individuals.  There was, to the best of my knowledge, no common factor between them.  Therefore, it could also be that Jim just never considered the possibility of being gay until now, and when he did, he made that realization about himself.”
Jim ran a hand over one of his horns.  “But is there like a test or something?  Something to be certain?  To prove—”
“I’m afraid not.”  Strickler answered quickly.  “We cannot ask the other changelings I knew of either.  Not after Gunmar…”  He pursed his lips and looked away.  His next words were rushed, as if trying to get as many between them and the last as possible.  “What I think young Tobias was trying to get at was regardless of how you came about being gay, if that is what you are, what you want to be, that is perfectly fine and valid.”
“I know that.”  Jim sat down on a log.  “I just…so much has changed in how I feel since I changed.  It would be nice to know if this was because of that or something else.” he heaved a sigh.
Barbara sat down next to him and wrapped an arm around him.  “It’s ok, kiddo.  She paused.  “I don’t know anything about trolls, but I do know that it can take years sometimes to figure out one’s identity and that it may fluctuate and change over time.  You don’t have to know exactly everything right now.”
“I will add that being gay is perfectly normal for trolls as well.”  Blinky sat down on Jim’s other side.  “Arrrgghhh!!!, myself, and some of our compatriots are living proof of that.”
“Listen to what everyone’s saying, dude.”  Toby walked up in front of Jim.  “You’re awesome sauce, no matter what.  You don’t have to prove anything.”
Jim let out a breath.  “I guess you’re right.”
“You know I’m right.”
“We all care about you a lot, Jim.”  Claire joined them.  “So listen to what they’re saying.  You’re fine.”
“Jim, good.”  Arrrgghh!!! rumbled.
Jim laughed.  “Ok, now you guys are laying it on a little thick.”
“You can hardly blame us.”  Strickler smiled.  “Your stubbornness takes a significant amount of effort to get through.”
“Gee, thanks.”  Jim looked around at his friends and family.  “Seriously though, thank you guys.”
Toby hugged him.  “We love you dude!”
Things escalated into a group hug, since, after a minute, both Blinky and Barbara joined in, then Claire.  Arrrgghhh!!! maneuvered himself around so he could get his arms around everyone.  Strickler tried to stay out of it, but then Barbara yanked his arm and he gave in.
