okay in my third playthrough of stray gods now and i only just got to the dialogue options with persephone where she explains her relationship with hades, how he doted on her to control her and how she convinced herself her kidnapping was a good thing, and how apollo didnt help her when she was trying to get to her mother and like. fuckin holy shit dude.
this game in general is just a punch to the gut. the lore is as dark and gross as the original myths were, while many other adaptions file down the claws of the original myths. but stray gods doesn't even follow the original myths much, focusing much more on the life of the idols in the last two or so centuries. it's so creative how they adapt these characters to be so unlike our expectations of what they would be like but maintain the dark themes present in their myths. the greek gods in this game are so different to all other interpretations, yet they feel so genuine.
i LOVE playing a game that doesn't soften any blows, it's incredible.

How do I like a character whose entire life revolves around trying to save her brother no matter what she has to do because she loves him that much more than a character whose only personality is being really antagonistic and aggressively misogynisticly obsessed with a woman who at one point moved to a different part of the country partially to get away from him? Gee idk
2. I would like Akiyama more, like maybe Kazama and Sagawa tier If the games were more interested in pointing out that he's a horrible person. And he is. And maybe I'd like that he was a bad person more if I wasn't always being told he's a good person. It also just irks me that he's treated like he has real problems. Especially next to fucking Saejima and even Kiryu when he kinda just does a lot of this shit to himself and its easily fixable. He feels like a self insert anime protagonist in a way that annoys me. Sorry he's just not ad good a character as someone like Haruka or Daigo

reason one shikimori is transgender: her personal narrative revolves around being comfortable existing as herself utterly and completely. on one hand she wants to be seen as cute and fashionable (a general thing throughout the entire story. additionally, in a flashback scene with another character whom she knew in middle school (during this point shikimori has short hair, is on the karate team her brother is on, and has another character confused over her gender) shikimori asks, "would it be wrong if I [was interested in fashion?] I'm not girly at all, I'm not cute at all...") additionally, her chivalry, protectiveness, scariness, and physical prowess are things she has generally expressed worry over being regarded as weird and not cute. BUT all of these points make up the whole of shikimori, and those she loves see this in her and help her further appreciate it. this is, in general, a REALLY trans narrative.

One of my favorites attributes of Pearl is just how good at playing off of others she is. She matches everyone's energy so well and is just so genuinely charismatic that all her interactions and duos end up being incredibly entertaining
Other great attributes include her incredibly silly noises, Amazing use of color and shape in her builds– most other people take a very architectural approach to building but hers is just pure art– and her banger pvp skills

Today was so funny i asked my uni friends what made saint george's story a love story and i loved their slow realization of well... He gave her a rose.... Oh
#this story is taught to us as children as THE love story its THE princess and dragon and knight story#so people dont realize that literally nothing about it makes it a love story???#for the people who havent read any of my previous posts and dont know the story:#there is a village that is terrorized by a dragon and after giving him all its animals they have to start sacrificing people to him#the do a lottery and the princess of the village is the one that has to go. the king wants to do it again but the princess insists and goes#then george who was passing by/had heard of a dragon in those parts (depends on the version) arribes and kills the dragon#and then from the blood of the dead dragon blooms a rose and he picks one and gives it to the princess#the king asks george if he wants to marry the princess but he doesnt want to and he leaves to go kill more dragons#the thing that bothers me most about this story being told as a love story is that it sets a super low standard on what makes a love story?#like no wonder then when two characters interact people are like omg they are so in love#if this guy (a knight!!) gives the girl a rose (also ngl she is probably having an anxiety attack at the very least atm)#and everyone is like see! true love!! we will make that day the lovers day!!#(and they also make it an objectively awesome day tbh)#idk where i was going but i hope you see my point#anyway feliç sant jordi#sant jordi#mine

Okay, this post has a lot of misconceptions in it. There aren't as many differences between crocodiles and alligators than you think. It's really harmful to think that we have nothing in common with each other. So what if they're carnivores and we're closer to omnivores, or their snouts are more U shaped while ours are V shaped. so yeah i'm losing my entire mind about the pjo adaptation like everyone else, currently foaming at the mouth at the mouth after having finished episode 4. but what i haven't seen anyone talk about was how the show treated the museum in the arch, which i thought was an AWESOME move by the writers!!! they didn't have to acknowledge it, but they did!! the disagreement between annabeth and grover where she makes the excuse that "it's just what some humans /want/ it to be" while grover is sort of like, doesn't matter, it's still complicity with the crimes that are being celebrated here... the way aryan managed to look so DISGUSTED!! amazing!! and it also shows how annabeth tends to be on the side of lawfulness/status quo and usually isn't ready to examine whether or not that's the right thing, but also shows how as she continues to be challenged in that worldview, she opens up
also, how they brought in the whole centaur thing earlier in the episode--i did think that it was a metaphor for both the overhunting of buffalo and the ethnic cleansing of indigenous people, but i thought it was gonna be a one-off thing. but then they tied it back in with the museum and UGH i just think it's so good! such an awesome way to talk about environmental harm and colonialism in a way that a) makes a lot of sense with the story and will come back later in the series and b) is easier for younger kids to understand. rick and the other writers are killing it with the reinterpretations of myth and stuff and also with confronting very real, very complex issues in a fun kid's show. i love this show dude.
