i’m so sorry but comedy peaked when the shameless writers made lip gallagher have anger issues and then decided he was absolute shit at fighting like you can’t get any fucking funnier than that

Big fan of the trope where there’s a big enough age gap between the oldest and the youngest sibling that the youngest sees their oldest sibling as a second parent. It’s a bonus if there’s a whole storyline where they’re all being raised by one parent due to a dead or absent partner so the oldest steps up to help a lot. I love when it shows a lot of angst but it’s brilliant when it’s used in comedy.
Please recommend any shows, movies, games or books with this trope if you can please!

random shameless fact: in the uk, carl is older than debbie. in the us, debbie is older than carl. the first scene (and entire episode tbh) mirrors the uk one, so in the intro, all of the kids are introduced in order, except for carl and debbie, who are switched.
shameless never even tried to make an effort with the kids birth years, but the actual years are:
fiona: february 1990
lip: march 1995
ian: may 1996
debbie: december 2000
carl: january 2002
liam: somewhere between march-june (i hc april) 2009

One of my funniest thoughts is that Kev from Shameless looks like Australian Gwaine.

as someone who was only familiar with uk shameless at one point, i have no idea why people compare it to the us version. they’re two completely different genre’s. i’m watching old clips of uk and laughing my arse off. us has its moments but you’re laughing at throwaway lines, not set up comedic scenes.
both frank’s aren’t great people but one’s an arsehole and the other’s a joke and mickey, they are the same character in name only.

Just finished shameless and feeling unhappy with the ending, mostly because we were getting really into ian and mickey and then it just ends. Was going to start the bear but instead I am now watching shameless uk wish me luck.
