FTH 2024 Auction Calendar

We blinked, and it's 2024, and our EIGHTH year of running this auction. 2024 has all the same problems as last year but more — but we also have a lot to be hopeful about, and a lot of good projects worth supporting and fighting for.

You can look at this page (also linked in our header) for the list of this year's supported nonprofit organizations. We'll be posting more detailed profiles of each of them in the coming weeks. Below is the full calendar for this year's auction.

February 5th: creator signups open

February 12: Fan Craft Bazaar signups open

February 19th: creator signups close

February 29th: browsing period begins, Fan Crafts Bazaar opens

March 5th: bidding opens

March 9th: bidding closes

March 16th: proof of high bid donations due

March 20th: Fan Crafts Bazaar closes (individual stalls may close sooner)

March 21st: proof of 2nd chance donations and Craft Bazaar donations due

December 31st: fanworks due

Back in 2021, as we were pulling together the fifth FTH auction, we joked together behind the scenes about how great it felt that the name of our auction was no longer quite as on-the-nose as it had been in our first few years. But it's 2024, and in all likelihood 45 will be back on the ballot: just one of the many sobering and scary things we're facing down this year.

But for the past seven years, we've had the privilege of watching thousands of fans -- yes, literally thousands -- dedicate their time and money and energy to the twin projects of sending support to some amazing organizations while building and strengthening community ties within fandom. Now, more than ever, that kind of community-building is essential.

We hope you'll join us, and join one another, in sending much-needed financial support to these amazing organizations and in putting more joy and beauty out into the world in the form of fanworks. These are dark times, but when we join together we can make them a little brighter.

For All Mankind fanwork offerings for FTH!

Y'all there are SEVEN (7) For All Mankind fanworks on offer in this year's @fandomtrumpshate auction! That means we are going to get up to seven (7) new FAM fanworks! (which is nothing to sneeze at in a tiny fandom like ours.)

The catch: most of these creators are offering to create for other fandoms, too. We've got to make sure to win these auctions ourselves!

wait, what is Fandom Trumps Hate?

FTH is a fanworks auction that raises money for progressive nonprofits (here's this year's list.) The folks listed below are offering to make a fanwork for their highest bidder, but the money doesn't go to the creator themselves: the winning bidder donates directly to the nonprofit and sends in proof of donation to the auction, and then creator and bidder are put in touch to start planning out a fanwork. You can read more about the auction here. Okay, onto the fanwork offerings!

themysterybox (aka @frankandpercy) is offering to write a fic of 10-20K in length, up to an E rating. They're particularly excited to take on alternate universes, and are also interested in writing poly fic, genderswap, trans characters/interpretations of characters, f/f, and ambiguous or unhappy endings.

els (aka @midnight-els) is offering a fic of 5-10K words, up to an E rating. els is especially interested in f/f ships, queer interpretations of characters, and happy or open endings.

naturaliseme (@naturaliseme) is offering a fic of up to 5K, up to an E rating, focusing either on Margo/Molly or Margo/Irina.

Avawtsn (@antaranya) has two FAM offers (#2 and #3). the first of which is for podfic (!!!!) She will produce an audio recording of your fic (or someone else's, if you get permission for it) of 5-10K words, up to a T rating.

Avawtsn's second FAM offer is an art offering (and you should take a look at those portfolio links, this is very exciting for us.)

I, @tiltedsyllogism, also have two offers! I will write you a fic of 5-10K, up to an E rating, and I'm pretty wide-open on who and what I'll write about. I like character studies and missing scenes, and I'm particularly interested in writing stories that capture the many different emotional layers of longstanding relationships.

I also have a fan labor offering: I will Yankpick or Russia-pick (or both!) a story of yours that is in process, and advise as best I can about everything from background culture to common turns of speech to local landmarks. I am also happy to do a more typical beta read in addition to/instead of language and culture-picking.

a friend of mind and long-term danmei merch collector, chui, is currently holding a charity auction on instagram of some uncommon / hard to get mxtx merch that she's collected over the years. all proceeds benefit a couple humanitarian organizations on the ground in palestine!

(a sampling of some of the merch for auction! there's both fan and official merch, and for all fanmerch, the original artists all agreed to have their stuff auctioned outside of p4p rules for the cause.)

FTH 2023 Auction Calendar

Welcome to 2023. Fandom Trumps Hate auction turns seven (!!) this year. Like every new year, 2023 is bringing us a lot to be afraid of — but also a lot to be hopeful about, and a lot of good projects worth supporting and fighting for.

We’ll be announcing this year’s list of supported nonprofits in the next couple of days, along with some other organizational business. But for now, we want to share with you the calendar for the 2023 auction.

February 6th: creator signups open

February 19th: creator signups close

February 26th: browsing period begins

March 1st: bidding opens

March 5th: bidding closes

March 12th: proof of high bid donations due

March 17th: proof of 2nd chance donations due

In many respects, the world has gotten better than it was when the original FTH crew teamed up to pull together a benefit auction in 2016, after the election; in other respects, it’s gotten harder and more dangerous.

But if there’s one thing we’ve learned from coming back year after year — and from watching all of you come back for another year of organizing and donating and creating and community-building — it’s that there is always reason to hope, and that it’s always possible to do something concrete and meaningful with that hope.

We hope you’ll join us again.

What a difference 92 years makes juxtaposition of Bugatti Type 46 Superprofile Coupé, 1930 & Bugatti Chiron Profilée, 2022. A new one-of-a-kind member of the Chiron line-up envisioned as a less radical interpretation of the Pur Sport. The name Profilée takes inspiration from one of Jean Bugatti’s first creations – the Type 46. The one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilée will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on 1 February, with a percentage of the proceeds going to benefit charitable causes.

This is a super random request, but I swear I once read a fic where Stiles is up for auction (charity, not a slave!au), and he's worried no one will bid on him. Someone (I think Derek) promised to be there but either forgets or runs late, and Stiles is left hurt and embarrassed. I don't know if it was on AO3 or Tumblr and I've been looking every which way I know how with no luck. If you or one of your lovely followers recognizes it, it would make my YEAR, honestly. 😘
