Ice Skating

You could not believe your luck when Master Roydon had asked you to join him on the frozen Thames for an afternoon stroll.

Happily accepting you waited for him to come meet you.

“Ms. y/l/n, thank you for accompanying me on this walk today.”

His voice was soft as he spoke, standing in the hallway next to one of the servants of the house.

“I will be most honored to walk with you master Roydon.”

Your mother nodded approvingly at you and your father did to.

It was not always that you had such fine company. And he seemed to be the first suitor you actually paid attention to. How could you not? Master Roydon was one of the most sought after bachelors in London. Any woman would be lucky to court him.

Although he was a few years older than you, something not uncommon in these times, it didn’t stop how you felt about him.

Once at the stairs leading down to the water, he finally offered you his hand, helping you down the possibly slippy stairs.

It was like electricity coursing through you at the touch of his hand.

He helped slip the tools onto your feet and then steadied you, guiding you to move without letting you fall.

You were a bit clumsy at first, but soon enough got the hang of it.

Matthew never once let go of your hand. The two of you skating until you could not feel your feet from the cold.

Leading you back to the embankment, Matthew helped you out of your skates and back up to the street.

Once you got on street level however, he dropped your hand, keeping an appropriate but still somewhat close distance from you.

“I had fun today Master Roydon.” You dared to look at him, gifting him a smile.

“As did I. Shall we do it again? Maybe tomorrow?”

You didn’t want to sound too eager, but the thought of seeing him again so soon was tempting.

“I shall ask your father when we return to your house.”

“I would love to accompany you again Master Roydon.”

He delivered you to your house, kissing the top of your hand before turning to talk to your father, and all you could do was hope.

Here's a ADOW spoiler I never considered before:

After Diana and Matthew went home, Matthew Roydon was still wandering around, presumably living in London at some point again and working for the Queen.

How many times did Hubbard or Gallowglass have to stop Jack and "Matthew" from meeting each other?

Or, worse still, how often did Jack spy on his "father", longing to talk to him and be happy with him, but knowing that he couldn't.

I'm sending an ask, so I don't clutter your fic with my ramblings!

I just had a wacky idea about M&M pretending to be married. Miriam needs to work on a project/has a political interest to pursue in London, so she joins Matthew there. They both agree to do the old charade of them being married.

Only it's after Future!Matthew & Diana's trip in the past! People start looking at Matrhew weirldy and assume he killed his blond wife, since he appeared with another one out of thin air. Miriam has the sensation of being watched by the entire creature population and human nobility, which hasn't happened since the Crusades.

Until one evening at a soirée with other noble women, they take her aside to warn her about Matthew. They're like "Be careful, Master Roydon had another wife before you and she disappeared into thin air. She was even presented at court. We don't know what he did to her. And did you know there are rumors he's spying for his majesty? Maybe the other wife found out and he killed her!"

Miriam is completely disturbed but none of it compared to when she later heard the other wife was a witch!! She's like " WTF DID YOU DO MATTHEW!"

And poor Matthew : "I DON'T KNOW, I don't remeber last year at all!"

That would be so funny!!

Everyone looking at the two of them funnily because all of a sudden Master Roydon has a new, foreign wife who is stunning but that is not the same woman he was

Both are just so confused
