Constantly wondering what the fuck Sesshoumaru does aside from wandering the countryside, looking for wreckage left in the wake of his little brother. His one goal in life seems to be killing Inuyasha to sooth his daddy issues, so he spends nearly every minute coming up with increasing more unsuccessful plots to murder a teenager. The only thing he does outside of that is rescue Rin.
I'm just saying, more bad parenting with Daddy Sesshoumaru please.

What is the most trouble you’ve ever been in?
when i was twelve, i spent one of my father's allotted weekends with him. he was paying for food and i was able to see the keychain on his keys.
for some fucking reason. for some unknowably insane and extremely stupid goddamn reason. he had a keychain of his debit card. it was just a tiny little version of his actual debit card with the numbers on it. i dont know why the credit card company thought this was a good idea.
anyway i saw my dad's mini card on his keychain and in the span of the 90 seconds it took for him to pay for my Egg Platter kids meal, i memorized the number.
i frequented inuyashaworld.com and at the time they had debuted 'game bots' which were stolen fanart on little bots that could 'learn' from you.
they were $5. i wanted a little sesshoumaru bot. i did not have $5. what i DID have was my dad's card number. in my brain. from six hours ago. i put in his info, and back then all you needed was the name and the card number.
my dad had slow as fuck internet so the page didn't load immediately. i clicked the 'submit' button like 3 to 5 times. it charged my dad 3-5 times. he had roughly 2 dollars in his account. he went negative and was charged an insufficient funds fee of $50. every time. this happened multiple times, until the page finally loaded and i stopped clicking.
when i was caught (almost immediately because his bank called to tell him he was negative by $300) i was told that i had to tell my mom what i did, and he would call her that night to make sure i did.
i was grounded from all computers for 2 months including going to the library, and i was no longer allowed to use the computer at my dads place at all, and i was only able to sneak using the gamecube at night in the dining room while everyone was asleep. my dad's girlfriend had already been treating me like a nuisance and now that i was a full on criminal i was a complete burden to her. i had to sleep on the tile floor in the kitchen because she told my dad i might steal from her house if i was allowed to sleep in a room on a bed. and he agreed with that. my pillow was a throw pillow from the couch and my blanket was the dogs blanket from the couch.
i had to keep the door open when i showered (which was "fine" because the glass was frosted) and when i went to the bathroom, i was timed. and i wasn't allowed to use the bathroom more than once an hour, even if i had been drinking a lot of water. one time i nearly peed myself, got in trouble for breaking the one hour rule, and got a new one hour rule stating i wasn't allowed to have more than one glass of water in an hour. even if it was spilled or otherwise compromised, as her shitheel grandkids often did by sprinkling dog hair and dirt into my cup.
on christmas eve that year i was forced to go to sleep (on the couch--luxury) at 9pm "with the kids", and forced to wake up at 6am. despite the hour, i was not allowed to open my present, singular, until i showered. which was only after the adults showered. then until everyone showered. then because one of the grandkids threw a tantrum it became until after lunch. then until everyone else opened theirs. my gift was a fluffy robe and a pair of socks, in this ugly ashy brown color. the reciept was in the box. it was purchased on december 22nd.
i tried dealing with it for another year before i just couldn't anymore and refused to go to my dads a few months after i turned 13. he didn't even question it, he just immediately accepted it.
the crime was stealing five dollars from my dad at age 12.
the punishment was no longer having a dad.

I apologise for asking this if it isn't something you want to talk about but do you know why there is so much hatred for Kagura from so many S*ssr*n shippers/HnY fans? I haven't seen HnY because I don't like sequels that take away the happy ending of the original so I only know a few spoilers through the grapevine, but the Kagura hate I've seen lately from some HnY fans reminds me of anti-Kikyou Inukag shippers from twenty years ago. But Inukag shippers are more supportive of Kikyou nowadays and fandom in general is less misogynistic than it used to be, so I don't understand why another woman being important to Sesshoumaru in the original Inuyasha series is so unacceptable that Kagura gets hate now. Even if people ship S*ssr*n, love isn't a finite resource? Sesshoumaru loving and wanting to avenge Kagura doesn't mean he can't love anyone else, it doesn't diminish his other relationships—especially because Rin was a literal eight-year-old child when Kagura was alive. It's not like Kagura was a yandere type who harmed Sesshoumaru or anyone else he cared about, either, after a while Rin knew she had nothing to fear from Kagura and was squee'ing about Kagura being in love with Sesshoumaru.
Again, I apologise for how long this question was and sending it on Anon, I just didn't want to get hate from S*ssr*n shippers or HnY fans. Kagura's my favourite Inuyasha character, so it made me sad to browse the Inuyasha reddit/tumblr and see people calling her a 'manipulative bitch' and such when I went looking for fanart and fic about her. It's especially strange coming from people who praise other former villain characters like Sesshoumaru, who did worse things than Kagura when he was evil.

but since i'm obviously on the opposite end of the spectrum in this situation & have only really been involved in the tumblr iy fandom for so many years, the only thing i know about any of that drama is that she's perceived as a threat to their yucky ship bc she was really the canon love interest for sesshomaru in the og series. and kagura is obviously the polar opposite of rin in literally every aspect. like, we have a demoness that was born from the body of the main villain who comes out the gate swinging on koga's entire family & is forced to beef with the whole inugang constantly and calls sesshomaru a bitch to his face the second time they meet. versus a cute lil baby who's a complete blank slate. so for people that don't care for her bc of their ship bias it's pretty easy to misinterpret her character & motivations and draw silly conclusions lmao. i'm not gonna say kagura isn't problematic in some ways but LITERALLY WHO CARES it's not that serious?? pretty much everyone in IY has done morally questionable shit. it's a fairy tale set in feudal japan, like. and it sucks that you're coming across negative bs when you're just trying to enjoy yourself in this fandom!! that happened to me too when i first got back into iy in 2020 bc i didn't know that kagura was like severely hated until i joined an iy group on fb (owned by you-know-who, unbeknownst to me) and saw all that weird shit lmao. but there's a lot of really great creators on tumblr, at least, that are anti-sr & pro-kagura, so i hope that you could at least enjoy yourself on this blog!! <3

Louder Than Words: Reprise
SessKag Fluff Week, Day 3: Valentine's
Prompt: Surprise

A continuation of sorts of my earlier fic Louder Than Words.
Sesshoumaru had no trouble with machines. Oh, they were frequently vexing and sometimes even he couldn’t figure out why something had decided to stop working as it should. Nevertheless, there was usually a logic to them.
And if all else failed, he could pry open the casing and poke around the different components and see how it all worked. Or have a look at the source code and hunt down where something had gone wrong.
But people, to him, remained a mystery.
Higurashi Kagome was a people person. There was no doubt about it. She was always friendly with everyone. She smiled often and always seemed to be ready and willing to chat for a bit with any and all of their coworkers.
In a stark contrast, Sesshoumaru was most comfortable when he was alone in his own office in the IT department. Though he had to leave the safety of his lair on occasion, often to fix misbehaving machinery or attend a boring meeting that could have as well been an email, he vastly preferred to troubleshoot and interact with people from a distance.
Higurashi Kagome couldn’t have been more different from him. And maybe, he wondered to himself as he stared at his computer screen, that was why he had gravitated to her from the start.
She’d been working with them for a year and half now. She worked in communications, which was probably the one department outside of IT that Sesshoumaru knew best. He’d befriended their graphics designer Miroku during the website revamp from a few years’ back.
Sesshoumaru had been silently smitten with Kagome since she first smiled at him in passing at the cafeteria queue. He’d overheard her chatting with that red-haired youngster from communications and from that single everyday conversation alone he could tell she was bubbly and kind and smart.
Unlike some people in their organisation, Kagome wasn’t hopeless with technology. She was responsible for all their social media, after all. And yet, for the past six weeks, she seemed to be running into tech trouble constantly, calling him at least twice a week. On seven different occasions, she’d talked him into grabbing lunch together.
She always chatted with him a bunch, all nice and friendly. Flashed him bright and frequent smiles. Touched him every now and then, though he was sure most of those little brushes were accidental. Still, it was driving him mad.
His crush had by now grown roots. And with every interaction with Kagome, a new branch would sprawl out. The feelings were getting out of hand and harder to contain with every passing day.
Glumly, Sesshoumaru picked up his coffee mug and pushed out of his chair. A booster hit of caffeine would perk him right back up.
There was a knock on his door. Higurashi Kagome peeked in, beaming at him.
“Hi! Do you have a moment?”
His heart stuttered in his chest and he had to clear his throat before he could reply. “Sure. Was just about to get coffee.” He lifted his mug in a sorry salute.
“Great!” Kagome’s eyes sparked and she walked into his office. “I really wanted to make sure I got these to you today.”
Sesshoumaru blinked, trying to clear both his vision and confusion. But as the sight he was seeing didn’t waver, perhaps he wasn’t imagining the cellophane-wrapped pouch that Kagome was holding out to him.
“What’s this?” he asked cautiously, even as a wild fluttering flock was let loose in his stomach.
“It’s chocolate, made by hand by yours truly! Happy Valentine’s Day, Sesshoumaru!”
“Thank you.” Sesshoumaru inclined his head, a little stiff. He accepted the gift and studied the assortment of chocolate truffles in various shapes and featuring different toppings. They looked delicious and really well made.
He shouldn’t get too worked up about the gesture. Sure, the obligatory chocolates women gave to their male co-workers weren’t typically this elaborate handmade kind, but Kagome seemed kind enough to go for the extra mile, even for the gift chocolates.
He couldn’t help wondering what her confession chocolate might look like, since these were already the nicest Valentine’s chocolates he’d ever got.
“I’m glad you thought of me,” he said, looking down at the chocolates. His cheeks were burning, and he hoped she hadn’t noticed that he was blushing.
The rustle of her skirt was his only warning. Then, her scent was filling his nostrils, and her hair was tickling his neck as she leaned in close. The kiss she planted on his cheek was too brief and utterly electrifying. Even as she pulled back, smiling bright, the warmth and softness of her lips against his skin lingered.
“I won’t take any more of your time, I know you must be busy,” she said, smoothing down her skirt. “But let me know what you think.”
She winked at him and left his office. Floored, flummoxed and flabbergasted, Sesshoumaru stood right where she had left him, still shivering and stupefied by her kiss.
It was only then that he noticed the card peeking out from under the wrapped chocolates.
He pried it open with trembling fingers. And as his gaze quickly drank in the handwritten words, his heart raced up his throat. Awe prickled in the tips of his toes, flooding his entire frame as it started to finally dawn on him: Sesshoumaru knew exactly what Kagome’s confession chocolate looked like.
He was currently cradling them, and the sweet emotions they represented, in his hand.
