It has been 1,000 days since we last saw Sam Wilson.

Can we talk about how Sam was done kinda dirty in TFATWS?

Like even from episode one, he was doing what he felt was right: trying to honor his best friend in the way he thought was right.

But then Bucky comes and belittles him about his decisions, despite the fact that sam didn’t know the museum wasn’t ganna keep their word. And instead of acknowledging Sam’s feeling of betrayal, all the Bucky stans who watched the show immediately saw Bucky as the victim?

Even during the therapy scene, Sam was hurting too. He had every right to be annoyed at Bucky, who wouldn’t stop pestering him about the shield. But people only feel bad for Bucky during that scene cause “👉🏽👈🏽 he sad boy he tied his worth to the shield 🥺” instead of acknowledging the hurt that Sam also feels.

And then when sam and Bucky had their “tough love” talk, Bucky actually apologizes (rightfully so cause he was in the wrong) yet the only thing people seem to take from that scene is Sam giving Bucky advice, as if sam is either Buckys therapist, or they claim that sam can’t speak on Buckys issues. As if sam has no right to speak on the issues of the winter soldier, even though Sam himself was a victim of the winter soldiers violence? And Instead of viewing that conversation as an equal sharing of feelings, the focus instantaneously switches to Bucky?

Notice the continuing trend of people only paying attention to Bucky, and what effects Bucky, how Bucky feels, but won’t give Sam the same attention? And the most they deduce him to is “Buckys replacement for Steve” or “Buckys therapist” completely taking away from any of Sam’s own agency as a character? As if Sam wasn’t also hurting the entire show?

Yes some of the hate for captain carter is misogyny but that doesn't erase the real grievances people have with her especially when favoritism comes at the expense of another woman (sharon) and a black man (sam).

I haven’t watched Ms. Marvel yet so correct me if i’m wrong, but based on gifs from the Avenger con scene….why does it seem like no one in any phase 4 project that takes place after TFATWS knows or acknowledges that Sam is Captain America now?? I get remembering Steve of course, but like why would they put his shield on the statue of liberty as if they don’t still have a Captain America? Why isn’t there anyone dressed in Sam’s suit at the Avenger con? Why does no one even mention it in any phase 4 project?? It’s driving me crazy. (also still noticing Bucky’s clear exclusion which is sad since before Winter Soldier, he was nearly always mentioned in connection with Steve (like at the museum) and now he’s just not.)

Something to realize about nobody acknowledging Sam as Cap at Avengerscon is that there was nobody there dressed as Hawkeye (Clint Barton), nor any merchandise for him. He's been an Avenger since the beginning, and there's nothing. Must be a branding issue.

Hey anon, I don’t want to be rude because I’m sure your intentions weren’t bad but here’s what I’ve gotta say about this:

1. It’s not just avengerscon. It’s the fact that Sam has yet to be acknowledged as Cap in universe since the end of TFATWS period. We know it was televised, we know people know. Steve is constantly brought up in some way, shape, or form, despite being gone. Sam has not. I mean, half of the stuff in Avengers con was Captain America themed and Sam Wilson currently is wearing the title of Captain America. It doesn’t even make sense why he’s not showing up.

Anyways, Clint was mentioned in Kamala’s video at the beginning of the episode. He was shown in her recreation of fighting Thanos. Thats already 1 time he showed up in Ms Marvel while Sam has not. Also it was shown in his own show that Clint was featured in Rogers The Musical and that he is a well known avenger despite not being as popular as the rest. He still gets his fame.

2. I don’t think it’s a “Branding problem”. I highly doubt Groot, Rocket, Vision, Mantis, and Drax are marketing themselves out to American citizens. I mean literally Mantis???? Makes an appearance but not Sam, come on. Real slim chance there. Also highly doubt the Dora Milaje is either but there were people dressed up as members of it in the scene. Gamora is fucking dead and was before Thanos even got to earth yet people are dressed as her. We can’t blame lack of inclusion for Sam on “in universe branding issues”. Let’s be real, it’s a Disney and fan issue. It’s the big guys ignoring him right now so they don’t piss off all the racist fans who wanted Bucky to be handed the shield or who are begging for Steve to come back. Don’t believe that’s true? Then explain why I saw all kinds of people on Facebook and Twitter arguing about it just today alone.

i’m genuinely so miffed about this. The pro Israeli propaganda Disney’s about the push with the introduction of Sabra is such bullshit and then you add the fact they’re doing this in the first Captain America movie with a black cap, they couldn’t introduce her during any of the Chris Evans ca movies ?? This is so cringey. Anthony Mackie is so graceful how he takes this disrespectful interviewer in stride. But I need one of his coworkers to grab that mic and be like, "Sam Wilson is Captain America. Deal with it."

If Bucky was Captain America they wouldn't be pussyfooting over it. The media would be lapping it up even if they may hint for a Chris Evans reunion. They still wouldn't be skating around Sebastian like they do Mackie.

Broke my heart Sebastian and Mackie won't be in the same movie. Maybe a guess cameo would be nice. But my boy Mackie need to shine and they need to stop acting like they can't handle all this black excellence.

Y'all really don't know how much this whole "Sam Wilson isn't Captain America" thing is pissing me off.

If they don't stop playing with Sam Wilson it's going to be a problem. I really hope Marvel takes a firm stand for Anthony/Sam because this is some bullshit.

Every time I see fully suited Cap Sam Wilson, I remember that podcast where they were like "the policy makers were evil so Sam gave them a stern talking to." That essentially, Sam "wrote a letter to his senator," and it just cracks me up. They pointed out that in that moment, he acted like playing by the rules is what creates change. I love Sam Wilson but man, over and over again we've seen that people in power do not suddenly choose to do good. You have to threaten their power to leverage them into doing so. And for Sam, "a black man wearing the stars and stripes," to say "do better" to government officials, after seeing the shit the government got to in catws and cacw... And then the show treating it like that was all he needed to do? Well, what else could I do but laugh?

Can we just appreciate Sam Wilson for a second.

Because this man met Captain America; who at the time was still a legend to most people. And didn’t freak out, in fact, he got Steve to open up about war and life in the forties and then- when Steve and Natasha showed up like lost puppies at his door- he let them in, made them breakfast, and came out of retirement to help them.

And even before all that he had dedicated his life to helping other vets!?

He took nothing from Bucky but still helped find him because he means a lot to Steve, became a literal fugitive, went on the run for two years, fought in another war, d.i.e.d!!! Came back to life, fought another war then went right back to the military after Steve left him.

He then fought against the flag smashers with Bucky, helped Bucky with his problems and accepted the mantle of Captain America despite knowing people would hate him for it.

Plus Anthony Mackie acting!?? They deserve so much more credit.
