If you are still taking requests, my darling, how about a blurb of Daeron coming to KL in the days before Jaehaerys' funeral and reuniting with his siblings or momma? xoxo johannawesterling. 😘
“Daeron,” his mother's voice was the first one that welcomed him in that lonely hall. The warm brown of her eyes sad, as always sad— he hated seeing it as a child, and hated seeing it now. Alicent rushed over to him to envelop him in an embrace. “My sweet boy.”
Grandsire was the one who wrote Daeron of the news. He said his Alicent’s temperament was fickle with grief, caring for Helaena’s babes. Daeron always knew his mother would hug him upon his return, but he felt a babe himself cradled in her arms.
“Mother, I missed you,” he held her back, feeling his own throat dry. Her hunched frame, her head on on his shoulder in defeat; his brother’s coronation should’ve given her the opportunity to find joy in a respectable posture, not a reason to wither. He hears some shout from within the hall in front of him, followed by another by a different voice, both filled with fire. “Are those…?”
“Aegon and Aemond,” Alicent answers, lifting her head. “It’s been a difficult time, and yelling is all they could do.”
Daeron doubted it. He saw the hanged people by the Tower of the Hand. No, his brothers are all flames searching to consume all, as they always were. “And Helaena?” he asked. His sister has always been calm in the midst of fury, but as things are…
“They are by her door. She has not come out of her room since…” Alicent said painfully.
Since sweet Jaehaerys had died. The funeral was due in a few days. He came for it; he has not been here for the birth of his nephew, he missed his years in this world, but he would not miss the boy’s departure from it too. But if his mother couldn’t bear to come… No. Helaena would never forgive herself if she did not come. He knew his sister, and he knew it to be true. If his brothers’ shouts were anything to go by, they were in a similar place.
Seven hells, he was too. After all this time, returning when it was all too late to help… How could he forgive himself?
Daeron always wanted to come back home in triumph.
It was a dream of his, ever since his mother sent him to squire with Lord Ormund. To come back a knight of the order, robust and reliable for his sister and mother to be proud of and his brothers to trust in. He wanted his nephews and niece to imagine him in their heads as an uncle they could count on, to become a figure his family whole could believe in.
He was lost, away from his family for too long, but Daeron knew he can’t leave his siblings alone now. He kissed his mother’s cheek, and went ahead towards his brothers.
“After all these years, you think you can preach to me about restraint?” Aemond’s eye flashed like a dagger. He grew much taller, taller than their older brother. Aegon, on the other hand, had not grown much since their teens, and he had been hunched as it is. With a pale face, bloodshot eyes and clenched fists he had not seemed any less fiery.
“When it is all your fault, you cunt? Yes I can.” Aegon replies venomously.
When they were young, Daeron was always lost when they fought. He could rise up together with them against Rhaenyra’s boys, but when they trifled with one another, he always found himself a bystander, staying by Helaena until the storm calmed. Alas, Helaena was in the room in front of them, and from within he heard soft sobs. His mother steps forward to intervene between them, but Daeron stops her, and walks to them instead.
Aemond noticed him first, halting at his sight. Aegon stepped toward Aemond, as if to yell at him some more, but Daeron brought a hand to hold his shoulder. Aegon nearly snapped his shoulder towards him to hit him, but Daeron stopped his hand too.
“Brothers,” he called them, his hold on Aegon’s wrist growing looser. “Stop it.”
Something in him snapped when he saw their faces closely. Aemond looked as if he had not slept a week, Aegon looked as if his blood had been running cold for a moon turn, hair a mess even if he wore a crown. They both try to pick themselves up, upon his arrival, Aemond fixing his gloves, and Aegon clearing his throat.
“You’ve grown tall, you twerp,” Aegon said, looking up to him. “It is good to see you. But don’t get involved.”
Daeron frowned. “Don’t tell me that. I’m your brother. I can talk to my brothers,” Daeron then looked at the door. “And my sister.”
Aemond shook his head. Some shame came upon his face. “She doesn’t want to see us, Daeron.”
What she didn’t want to see never mattered, though. Helaena often told him she saw strange things in her mind. When they were children, when she sent letters, it was often all the same. Sometimes, those were things she did not want to see at all. She managed through it all; she was the bravest, even when she cried waking up from a dream. She needed to see them, instead of further falling into loneliness.
“So we leave her to the darkness of her room instead of showing her she is not alone?”
“I don’t know how to convince her out, Daeron. I tried,” Aegon said. “Aemond tried. Mother tried. Grandsire tried. Jaehaera and Maelor..” he trailed off.
Daeron looked at the door again. His sister was never stupid, she knew they were outside. He knew she was listening, too. If she heard them, she only heard strife and more frustration, things she had likely enough of within her. Whenever Daeron played with Lord Ormund’s children, it was always similar with his one daughter, Bethany; if her brothers quarrelled and brawled while she was upset, she would lock herself in her rooms until she felt safe to get out. She wouldn’t go out to thundering knocks and threatening yells, but to safety.
Daeron didn’t know if Helaena would ever feel safe again. Not after all that happened. But if anyone was to give her hope it was them. He remained steadfast in his stare against his brothers.
“When ships are lost at night, we light the Hightower’s beacon until they find their way back.”
Turning around, Daeron knocked on the door, in an odd rhythm. A rhythm Helaena taught him when he was around eight, and plagued with nightmares of plucked eyes and stormy seas. When mother could only take care of Aemond, Helaena told him she would never turn him away should he come by her door.
“It is like the summer songs of cicadas, stuck to their trees. They sing when they know when they feel safe.”
The sobs from within the room suddenly quietened. No rustling came from within, but it was a change. He knocked on the door again. Sniffles came in response. His brothers stared at him, and for once, he met them in an equal gaze.
Biting his lip, Aegon brought his clenched first forward to the door too. He looked at Daeron, and they knocked together. More sniffles came, but they sounded closer. Aemond seemed to be most skeptical, but with both results and a glare from Aegon, they knocked again together, all three.
It felt like forever, until they heard something being moved from behind the door. The heavy door opens only slightly, but the sniffles are suddenly all clear. The light finally shone on her; Helaena’s face was red, her eyes were glassy, her hair unkempt and her dress crumpled upon her figure, but she was there.
She saw them all, and tears fell down her cheek again. “I…”
It was not clear, amongst the three of them, who came to hug her first. All Daeron knew is that they ended in sibling embrace. She fell into sobs again in their arms, this time holding them dearly for life.
We will not let go.

Hello! What are your thoughts on how Criston Cole died in the Butcher's Ball? Do you think Garibald Grey, Dustin, and Pate Longleaf's tactics were treacherous and cowardly? I do not understand why Cole's death is seen as satisfying when he was trying to surrender and save his men in a battle they knew they could not win. And Garibald even acknowledged that it was not a fair battle and it was a massacre.
Well, Sahtine, there's really no other way to put this. The white flag has been used even in Roman times, it's been used in the medieval period, it's been used across continents. It's been an integral part of international law ever since we can ascertain that something resembling this concept exists. It's in the Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907, it's in Hugo Grotius' 1625 De jure belli ac pacis. People across space and time know what it means and have somehow agreed to respect it so often that the practice became quasi-universal. Killing someone that comes under a peace banner is breaking the laws of war, plain and simple. Many military manuals pertaining to countries all around the world consider firing intentionally upon a parlementaire carrying a flag of truce to be a literal war crime: https://ihl-databases.icrc.org/fr/customary-ihl/v2/rule67
They could have just refused Criston's offer of trial by combat, sent him back and met his army on the battlefield. But that was the whole point, wasn't it, to deny him an "honourable" death. Had Criston's army surrendered first and were butchered regardless, it still would have been considered a war crime. It still should be, because the men laid down their shields and fled.
With Ser Criston dead upon the ground, the men who had followed him from Harrenhal lost heart. They broke and fled, casting aside their shields as they ran. Their foes came after, cutting them down by the hundreds. Afterward Ser Garibald was heard to say, “Today was butchery, not battle.”
The United Nations defines "no quarter given" as a war crime. Killing members of the armed forces who have laid down their arms is also considered a war crime: https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/war-crimes.shtml. Sure, the UN is a contemporary organization, but these principles are not new, they've just been more recently enshrined on paper.
So, yes. IDK who thinks of it as "satisfying". It's really there in the text to highlight how Rhaenyra's side committed atrocities, too.

This is a reply in regards to this post, which highlights the high likelihood that, whether people are fine with the author's choices or not, RxL is written by him with romantic nuance as far as the text goes. @sahtinekryze
And I think this fandom really needs to have a honest analysis of the idea of "selfishness" in narrative choices such as this, which is that when it comes to how the whole "duty vs love" scenarios Martin writes, he does not actually writes it with some wide spectrum ranging from selfish to sacrificial. There are usually no other choices than the two.
Could one define the alleged choice of breaking a noble marriage contract that would have negative political influence at the least, had it been the best case scenario (which one would logically assume the two might have hoped for instead of very lots of people dying including themselves) as 'selfish', which in its very definition is doing something for one's self, though it may not be advantageous for others? Yes.
But as I said, Martin doesn't write a middle ground. There's that, or Lyanna marries an unwanted man and is hence forced to have a non-consensual relationship with him, and forced to carry children out of a noncon relationship, so that her male relatives can reap benefits of political power, as well as her groom through her womb. And as shows inspired by these books love to show us very graphic such cases (like Daenerys in GOT, or the storyline given to show!Sansa, or the changes for show!Alicent in HOTD), I am sure fans should have learnt better about the accusations usually thrown at Lyanna in fandom spaces in regards to being another woman marrying against her will in a society where a woman cannot say no, marital rape isn't recognised, and a husband is "just taking his rights": that "this is just being whiny". (There are many other examples in the books; the author is also not holding back on what unwanted or unsuitable marriages mean to women.)
Against the fanon idea that she is some wild, demanding, conceited girl, she doesn't rage, she doesn't bite. She has a tentative, soft spoken conversation with her brother about it and her reluctance in the matter, and is (nicely) dismissed.
Had she not (allegedly, while all is unconfirmed) fallen for the Crown Prince and he for her, there is no one else powerful enough to extract her from her situation (her male relatives having made up their own minds in the matter), nor anyone else to go from where she cannot be recovered by a powerful and connected family and fiance. No one else she could marry/sleep with that wouldn't be shut down and covered (as seen with Tyrion or Lysa) to preserve the higher price for which her womb can be bartered. Just no other viable choice that wasn't the other end of the scale: a woman being sacrificed by men, for men's uses.
As I said at the start, this is simply how Martin writes these conflicts of "mind and heart". He corners the characters. There is no light at the end of the tunnel that isn't also sort of "selfish" and "dumb" looking on the surface.
This can be applied to more such situations in the text-
Catelyn undoes the already precarious state of her son's campaign by releasing their most valuable captive. She has not even a guarantee that her 'selfish' act for love will work. But there are no options she's given. No one else cares to make it a priority to get her daughters back. The only other choice is to let it be and let 2 girls be sacrificed in marriages of ill intent to use their wombs and discard them, unsure if she will find anything left of them but Lannister named babies when this is over. It is "selfish". It is "dumb". Yet she's cornered.
Jon makes the decision to go fight Ramsay Bolton because he's run out of options and he's cornered. Arya is allegedly in the hands of the family that have viciously killed a number of Starks and taken Winterfell. She is 11 and allegedly married. He is made sick at the thought of what is being done to her. He's tried the "lesser" tactics of getting her rescued without being seen as trespassing the status quo of the NW publicly, by sending others for her. But it was always going to come to this. Ramsay guesses (or finds out) that his escaped bride would make it to the Wall. Keeping "peace" and "doing his duty" instead of "being selfish and dumb" is handing over "Arya" himself if she even makes it to appease the Lord of Winterfell, sacrificing a girl to an unwanted marriage meant to use her for her womb and discard her.
There are no actual choices when there is no actual scale in between "selfish and dumb" and the sacrifice of a girl (or, you know, 2,3, as many as Westeros would swallow as it did for millennia for this or that Lord or King to amass and keep power), whether they are Lannisters trying to get Winterfell, or Starks extinguishing the line of the Warg King.

Popsicle Standoff
Rating: Sexual Innuendos Ahoy!
Paring: Sarah X Bucky
Author's Note: This is me killing two birds with one stone. So @sahtinekryze  put out this prompt about Cass, AJ and Bucky conspiring to hide a kitten from Sarah. This also fulfills the popsicle prompt. Hopefully I did good!
Summary: Cass and AJ rescue a kitten. Bucky has a soft spot for cats and decides to aid and abet them in hiding the little floof from their mother.
August 19-25: Popsicles
Bucky had endured torture. However what Sarah was doing in front of him was about to make him fold faster than a lawn chair.
It was supposed to be a distraction and a way to soften her up to what the boys had hidden up in their room.
When it came to the boys, Bucky was always 100% behind whatever decision Sarah made. However, when Cass and AJ came back from school carrying an adorable white ball of fluff that had been abandoned in a box on the side of the road, her NO PETS rule went flying out the window.
“Please don’t tell mom!” AJ pleaded as Bucky gently took the little kitten from his arms.
“We think it’s deaf.” Cass snapped his fingers close to the kitten’s ear and it didn’t flinch, too busy staring up at Bucky with matching blue eyes.
The little thing looked dehydrated, with a distended belly and probably covered with fleas. Still it mewed bravely and lifted a paw curiously. Bucky smiled remembering as a small boy the alley cats he often played with and how occasionally one would crawl on his lap for pets. Fighters and survivors, they were nonetheless tranquil, peaceful creatures.
“Let’s see if we can get the fleas off her.” He decided after giving her a quick inspection.
A check on the internet showed them how to give the kitten a proper washing and what it would need to eat. Bucky promptly went to the nearest store to get some proper food and had just returned when Sarah suddenly drove in.
“Mom’s here!” AJ cried out, hugging the freshly washed kitten wrapped snug in a towel.
The kitten mewled loudly in protest.
“Shh! Not so loud.” Cass hushed them both. “We got to hid her.”
Bucky sighed, in for a penny, in for a pound. “Take her upstairs. I’ll see what I can do with your mom.”
The boys quickly dashed up to their room just as Sarah walked into the house with a small bag of foodstuff. She caught the sounds of frantic steps and the door slamming shut along with hushed words. Bucky stood in the center looking awkward.
“Is there something I should know?”
“N-No.”
Now this was surprising. It was the first time Bucky had ever lied to her. Handing the groceries to him she decided to figure out what shenanigans was going down.
“I think I’m going to check on the boys.”
“Uh, wait!” He opened the freezer, looked around. “I’ve been craving a popsicle…Want to enjoy one with me?” Turning around he thrust one at her.
He’s stalling her. Now she knew something was up, but fine, if he wanted to play games, so be it.
“Okay,” she said, peeling off the plastic wrapping to reveal the classic red and orange popsicle swirl. Taking a seat across from him, she sucked the tip of the cold dessert and moaned in delight.
Bucky faltered, his popsicle missing his mouth by a mile as he watched Sarah begin to suck, lick and slurp on the long frozen pop.
“My girlfriends and I loved these on hot nights. We’d try to make it last as long as possible.” She mused as her tongue licked the sweetness of the popsicle first up, then down.
“Uh huh.” He said breathlessly.
“I remember Brenda was boy crazy and showed us her special trick.” Demonstrating, she pushed the popsicle far into her mouth and slowly dragged it out.
His jeans were now extremely tight, and his gaze was fixed on her every move.
She arched a brow. “Aren’t you going to eat yours? It’s melting all over your hand.”
“Uh,” He reached out to grab a napkin, missed and jostled the table before awkwardly wiping his hand.
Bemused, she took a delicate bite and let the icy sweetness melt in her mouth. “You’re wasting it.”
Bucky watched the way her tongue dragged over her lips, squirming, but tried to regain control and began to chomp at his popsicle, finishing it in three bites.
“You didn’t even enjoy it.” Sarah scolded gently as she slowly finished hers until she was only sucking on the stick.
“Jesus, Sarah,” He groaned, pulling the stick from her mouth and capturing her in a cool, sticky sweet kiss. He’d been tortured enough and now demanded some satisfaction.
She indulged him. Her tongue teased him, her teeth nibbled. His breath became heavy, and she brushed her hand against his jeans feeling his arousal.
“I’m going to check on the boys.”
Before Bucky could even realize he’d been tricked, Sarah ran up the stairs to find out what was going on. Valiantly he tried to stop her but too late, she was inside AJ’s bedroom looming over the boys as they tried their best to look innocent despite the fact that the kitten was meowing loudly under the bed.
“What did I say?” She said, hands parked at her hips.
“Please mom! She was left to die all alone in a box!” Cass argued. “We couldn’t leave her like that.”
“You always tell us to help the less fortunate.” AJ added.
Bucky soon lumbered in awkwardly, his eyes darting around. “Where is she?”
The kitten crawled out from under the bed and made a beeline for the super soldier. With sharp, tiny claws she unabashedly climbed up his long legs until he could scoop her into his arms. Now safely established, the kitten looked up at Sarah and meowed her introduction.
Sarah arched a brow. “Sassy, isn’t she?” She noticed how tenderly Bucky stroked the little thing’s soft white fur. “I see I’m already being replaced.”
“No, come on. You know you’re the only girl for me.” Bucky countered before shrugging. “She’s just a lost little kitten. Abandoned, forgotten, disabled…no friends.”
“Not abandoned nor alone. Not so long as a Wilson is around to save the day.” Sarah teased lightly as she gave into the urge and stroked the kitten’s soft head.
Bucky smiled faintly. “I know you told the boys no pets…but you never said I couldn’t have one.”
“Ooh! Yeah, you never said Uncle Bucky couldn’t have a pet. He can keep it!” AJ parroted excitedly.
“You know, instead of lying and stalling with popsicles, you could’ve just said you guys found a kitten.”
Cass frowned. “But you said no pets.”
“Yeah but I never said we couldn’t help a poor defenseless animal.” She countered. “She could stay but tomorrow she moves into Bucky’s place. Okay?”
“Yes Ma’am.” They said in unison. “Can we have a popsicle?” AJ added.
“Go for it.”
They quickly skedaddled out to the kitchen leaving the adults to with their new feline charge.
“So now that this has been settled what are you going to do to prevent me from making you sleep on the couch tonight?” Sarah said, folding her arms across her chest, waiting.
Bucky sighed. “I am sorry that I helped the boys smuggle a cat into the house and lie about it…and I promise that she’ll stay at my place. Please don’t make me sleep on the couch. You are the most beautiful, radiant, loving woman a guy could ever ask for.”
She stared at him for a moment. “I’ll think about it.” Then turned and went to join her sons.
Cat and cat owner watched her go.
The feline glanced up at him. “Mrrp.”
“Thanks for the encouragement.” Bucky replied. “Let’s go butter her up some more.”
In the end, Cass and AJ saved a cat, the cat got a new home, and Bucky managed to slide in beside Sarah that night to finish what they started with the popsicles.

You briefly talked about this one time - what are your thoughts on Maegor and Aenys? Do you think Maegor actually cared about his brother? You would think that that care would carry down to his neices and nephews but once Aenys was dead, he was wiping them all out. What made Aenys different that Maegor actually accepted him instead of trying to immediately remove him from the throne like Visenya wanted him too?
My thoughts on Maegor and Aenys can honestly be boiled down to a crowd in the Coliseum of my mind chanting "sons of the dragon! sons of the dragon! sons of the dragon!" on repeat but I will endeavor to go into more depth.
I actually have gone more in depth on Maegor and Aenys's relationship here and elaborated far more on it here, but my view on them is that it's the quintessential tragedy, it was doomed to fail. Maegor and Aenys's relationship was always going to be tainted by forces outside their control, even from before they were born. Aenys was the son of the favored wife while Maegor was the son of the one Aegon couldn't even stand by the time he was born; Aenys's mental breakdown was always going to stunt his interpersonal relationships other than the one with his father and the one with Quicksilver as he recovered; five years isn't an insurmountable age difference but it's significant in that early childhood development phase. All of this, the circumstances under which Maegor was born and the relationships their parents had with each other and the conflagration of situations that was the First Dornish War and how it affected the family, all of it basically doomed the relationship from the getgo. My view of it was that they were never going to be truly brotherly, not in the way that we see from the modern Starks or Orys and Aegon. But, as I mentioned in those prior responses, I don't think it was all bad. Aenys put a lot of trust and value in Maegor, and Maegor seemed to respect that and respected Aenys's kingship and wanted it to go well. I also find it incredibly important that Maegor accepted his banishment, because we know what happens when Quicksilver and Balerion go head to head. He would have made easy work of his brother and he probably knew that, but instead he accepted Aenys's word as law, left and stayed away until he was recalled by his mother only after Aenys died. That, to me, does speak to the fact that Maegor cared about him. Some of it might be transference, with Aenys as Aegon's clear favorite and Aegon having gone without giving Maegor any of what he might have craved from him (the throne, his approval, his affection, I theorized a lot more on Aegon and Maegor's fractured relationship in that first ask about humanizing him) Maegor might have turned to his older brother in hopes of getting some taste of what he wanted from his father with the only version of his father he has. It's also possible that, once Maegor was a bit older, three to four, Aenys had recovered enough from his ordeals to try and interact with him and be a good brother, in spite of not being raised in the same location. Aenys seems like the type to have wanted to try and do right by his kid brother, if the olive branches he extended to Maegor during his reign when they were both adults is any indication. So even if they weren't close in childhood, Maegor's memories of Aenys when he was a child might have been of someone earnestly trying with him, trying to be good and supportive to someone who doesn't seem to have had much of a support system in the family beyond his mother.
And it should be interesting to note, Maegor does seem to have extended some care towards his nieces and nephews initially. While he did usurp Aegon the Uncrowned, he didn't immediately go after him, he actually let him live unmolested for up to a year, considering that he took the throne in 42 AC and the Battle Beneath God's Eye occured in 43 AC. It was Aegon attempting to muster armies and take back his crown that led to his death, not Maegor taking the throne, for all we know, though it's unlikely, if Aegon had gone into exile the way that Maegor himself had, he might never have died. And while Alyssa and Viserys and Jaehaerys and Alysanne were absolutely hostages, there's no record that they were ever treated badly, not even Viserys who was residing in King's Landing. While I'm sure being a political hostage with the uncle who killed your brother and was slowly becoming more and more mentally unhinged wasn't a picnic, there's no evidence that Maegor ever did anything to Viserys or had anything done to him, and that Viserys didn't live any life other than a comfortable one as a blood relative to the crown. And by the time Visenya died and Alyssa fled with Jaehaerys and Alysanne, Maegor's mental state was already dangerous (this was post coma/Tyana magic interference that may or may not have helped exacerbate him into a crazy person) and that's probably why he responded as badly as he did and had the poor kid tortured to death. Maegor's cruelty to his family can be directly linked to how badly he was doing from a mental perspective, so it's entirely possible that he started out without any intentions to hurt Aenys's kids, because they were Aenys's kids, but as he descended into tyranny and madness, that was one of the core elements of him that was stripped away until only The Cruel remained.
I think a huge part of what made Aenys different, to Maegor at least, really is just that familial connection. Visenya didn't have any connection to Aenys beyond the fact that he was Rhaenys and Aegon's child, and that doesn't do much for her (even though I do think she loved them both, especially Rhaenys, it's just that the whole Dornish War thing and the rift probably turned any potential affection for her nephew into pure apathy. Not to get into Visenya conjectures and whatnot, but that Downton Abbey quote after Matthew dies where Mary says "with Matthew's death, all the softness he found in me seems to have dried up" is soooooo Visenya/Rhaenys coded, that's exactly how I imagined Visenya eventually went after Hellholt. Leave me here to die.) so she was more willing to be harsh and critical of him, especially when compared to the child of her own body and her own direct lineage. But for Maegor, that's his brother. A connection to his father, and someone he had a relationship with in his own right. He seems to have cared enough about that, perhaps even loved Aenys enough, that it really meant something to him, and that he didn't want to directly steal his own brother's birthright in spite of how bad he felt Aenys was at it or not. He could have felt grateful, moved even, by the trust Aenys was putting in him as a brother by giving him Blackfyre and making him Hand and trusting him to secure his reign, and wanted to live up to that trust, prove worthy of it. Their relationship wasn't ever fully reconcilable, in my mind, due to the circumstances it came about it that were entirely out of their control, but it feels like they really tried, on both sides, to bridge that gap as much as they were emotionally able.
TL;DR I think that it was doomed from minute one, but neither of them entirely let it just go into that good night and they probably did have best intentions with each other, even Maegor, considering that he accepted Aenys's rule and helped him and he does seem to have tried to be good to Aenys's kids before he went completely doolally. Probably best summed up as "there was some kind of love there, but love isn't always enough".

I am gonna bulldoze your anon because that movie set me OFF. You know how the movie would have been great? OPENING it with Alice (Flo's character) waking up from the simulation. Her partner is dead beside her and she has to work her way backwards to figure out what the hell happened. She has her memories of the simulation, and knows there are hundreds of other women trapped inside it, so she has to find them and free them from the simulation as well.
And with Bunny (Olivia), they could have worked deeper into her desire to stay in the world because of her kids being there. We could have found out what happened to her children, and maybe had Alice help Bunny understand that it's not truly living or maybe have Bunny make a heroic sacrifice to save the other women and reuniting with her children in the afterlife or something.
And Gemma Chan's character Shelly? She stabs Chris Pine and says "It's my turn now." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Is she gonna take over the show? Is she gonna build another simulation and imprison the men? Is SHE behind the whole thing and her husband taking credit for it? WHAT WAS THAT? That's what I meant by, what a great concept but a wretched execution. Okay, rant over.
I agree, so little of it made sense and so many more things should've been explored. Personally I was just left with such a meh feeling because it was a mess. I'd been led to believe it was the worst movie ever and it wasn't. It wasn't good either, don't get me wrong. I do think those changes could've maybe helped. Idk.
