Things I hate about my fandoms
(I will probably make posts about each of them later going more in depth)
⚠️These DO NOT apply to ALL members of these fandoms⚠️
Cartoons:
Miraculous: mischaracterisation of Kagami as a bad person who just want to ruin the love square. But at the same time they love luka because he's just a sweet little baby boy 🥺👉👈
The owl house: Hunter and Ed interacted once and people started shipping them while they complain about Hunter and Willow for having a 1 year age gap. Also people acting like everyone is siblings
Amphibia: they care about the main trio too much to care about any other character at all
Gravity falls: where do i even start
Steven universe: The Su!c!de incident (dont worry she survived)
The ghost and molly mcgee: they hate Ollie for no reason even after his redemption arc for getting in the way of Molly x Libby or Andrea. They say he and molly look like siblings but their eye colors, skin colors and hair colors are different. (Tbh they cant take it when both characters in a pairing are Asian).
Dwampyverse: Too many NSFW art of children
Ducktales: I like them. Nothing bad about them other than they just ignore canon sometimes but hey, so do I.
Hilda: same as the Dwampyverse
Tangled: pretty chill but please dont ship Varian who's 16 with Cass who's 25.
Infinity train: Saying Lake, Ryan and Min aren't queer coded. Like are you blind? Its fine if you don't ship Rymin or use She/her for Lake but remember cartoon network Stopped the creator from putting those in.
Lego monkie kid: pretty ok fandom. Nothing bad to say about them.
She ra: im pretty late to this fandom so I haven't seen anything bad but as a DT megafan the fandom doesn't give them enough attention to them lol
Dead end: too small
Kipo: WAY too small
Live action movies:
Heathers: (see Musicals)
Dead poets society: ITS DYING WE NEED MORE FANWORKS
Games:
Undertale: the needle cookie incident (they're ok now don't worry. Dont take food from strangers kids)
Stardew Valley: Toxic arguing over the Bachelors and Bachelorettes. Acting like Haley and Alex are some irredeemable monsters. like, have you tried befriending them?
Musicals:
Heathers: Acting like Heather McNamara is some sweet little angel. Like no. She is sad and deserves better but that doesn't mean shes nice. (In other words: she is damaged, far to damaged, but that does not make her wise)
Hamilton: the HIV incident (just search Hamilton HIV to know the context). Also harassing anyone who isn't the OG cast.
Ride the cyclone: Acting like the characters are so pure and innocent. Like, im against NSFW of the kids too, but the whole point of Ricky is that hes not so sweet and innocent as a disabled person. Or the whole point of Noel is that he wants to be "fucked up". The tiktok fandom is also super biased to the original cast (meanwhile tumblr loves it)
Six: Saying Jane isn't a powerful woman because she wants to get married and have kids

I'm so perplexed by the "jumping shit" and "splitting the fandom" narrative by some people because I just don't see it. Everyone wants Buddie. But even as an "ally" I can say what my thoughts are and what I think is mirrored by a lot of others.
I'm not going to hate a queer character for existing and being a consent mature King.
I'm not going to hope a bury your gay moment happens to him
I'm not gonna accuse him of anything for a joking comment while engaging in the Fandom.
Also I really don't think he's around much longer because I think he notices the Buck and Eddie of it. I think that's why he's teasing we will love him. I think he knocks one of them on the head.
I especially don't want him to be treated like Ana on his way out the door. He deserves better.
Lastly , I have maintained since the beginning all I needed was queer confirmation from one to know it's happening. And I have that now. I stand by that. Ryan is way too giddy if he was being left behind.
I mean did you see Tommy’s eyes go up and down during the “first date scene” at the way Buddie was conversing with each other.

So glad I found your blog. I'm a bit like you and I'm not watching the show live. I'll let it play out and I'll see later. I got kind of burnt by the last season.
I still love the characters so much so it's hard to cut it completely. As an Eddie girl, I'm kind of happy we seem to be getting something this season. I think fandom also burned me with all the spec. I learned to curate my page and it's better.
Just wanted to said I love reading you.
I am really glad you found my blog too ❤️
A lot of the time I just write the way I see things, kind of like Ryan, when they let him out of interview jail lol.
I think it is a wise choice to kick back and let this season play out, watch the whole thing as one piece, last season was the worst one yet, I am hoping the move to ABC will do them good, because all and all that is one talented cast and they deserve a good storytelling.
Having been a Ryan girl for ages, like way before 911, I am happy he's given more on screen time and a bigger role, he's such a talented actor and it is a genuine pleasure to watch his work, honestly, he's the reason I went back to watching 911.
After S1 I took a break, the opened by accident in 3X03, I thought for sure Eddie was Buck's brother at first, then I reached the lovers spat at the grocery store and said "Okay, definitely not brothers." lol
When I reached the S3 winter break I went back and watched S2 to get a read on Eddie's background and where he came from, it was a fun catching up. - I've been watching for him ever since - so I am really glad we'll finally get to see more of him this season - regardless of the settings, Although I gotta say his sisters making an appearance is the best piece of spoiler I got, so much better than all the misfits relatives (except for Albert, he was the BEST! family member to appear as a guest on the show) that popped by.
I have modified my dash too, I see only a handful of people, and those are my favorite mutuals 🤗
I have a bigger amount of followers than I ever thought I'd reach, and I love all of them, but my choice selection of following give me a quiet and safe environment in this crazy tumblr waters and I love it.
I love that you reached out, thank you for reading my fevered thoughts and liking them - know I appreciate you a LOT!! ❤️❤️

I am curious to ask, this question has been haunting me for ages but would Homelander care about Ryan just as much had he been born without powers? I mean I feel like he would be pretty disappointed and feel conflicted between having a son but a son who is a "mud person" from his genes, I could also see Homelander maybe considering injecting Ryan with Compound V. Never really being able to accept his son bring human. I bring this up because I keep seeing platonic father Homelander with human daughter s/o (Platonic mind you) and I just don't think he'd be very loving to a human child from him. I could see him sorta seeing them as a runt of the litter so to speak. Your thoughts?
suuuuch a tough question to answer. honestly, one of my theories for season 4 is that Butcher may attempt to "de-supe" Ryan in order to wipe away some of the shine on him from Homelander's eye. it feels a very Butcher line of thinking to have, assuming Homelander only cares about Ryan so long as he's a supe. from Butcher's point of view, it may be the only thing that ultimately allows Ryan to live a normal life, and obviously it would very much be Butcher's preference.
back to the point, Homelander's first question about his child was "was it a boy?" but i think this question is more nuanced than just 'he wanted a son.' i think he asked this because vogelbaum is describing to Homelander what we the audience see; the baby had laser vision and freakish strength. Homelander wasn't JUST asking if the baby was a boy, he was asking if this baby was him.
Homelander needed it to be true. he needed Ryan to be him. he's extremely defensive about Ryan experiencing any of the same traumas he did, but from the very beginning he's also wildly sensitive to any implication that Ryan is anything less than a god. anything less than he is. part of this is due to Homelander seeing Ryan as an extension of himself; a means to heal his inner child. give himself the life he deserved through his perfectly super child. just like he was confident Ryan was as tough as him and could definitely fly, despite zero evidence, i do think he would be extremely confident Ryan, were he born normal, would survive a round of V, and have all his dads same power. i can see him trying to convince Ryan of accepting it. could Homelander accept Ryan as a human? maybe not as enthusiastically as he did in canon, but I also don't think Homelander would be able to abandon his own child. not after what happened to him.
now, with all that in mind, had the baby been a daughter... i think that would have completely changed the role she plays in Homelander's psyche. in terms of his emotional healing, it would instead put him in the forward facing role as her father, and what that would mean for his future and growth, rather than what her experiences mean for his inner child healing.
i think the introduction of a daughter would elicit that reaction in him whether she was a supe or not. Homelander is vicious towards humans broadly speaking, but he's not immune to caring about them as individuals. i think any child of Homelander is still inherently better to him than any other person simply by virtue of being his. i think a non-supe child would be less of a runt and more of a... pet. not his equal, but above the others.
ALL that aside, we can theorize to our hearts content based on the writing we have what Homelander may or may not think/do with a human child, but in the end we don't have a precedent for it, so it's entirely up to interpretation, and what stories we as the fandoms want to see/engage with. i think the reason we see so much dadlander content is because we have daddy issues it's fun to engage with! it's as much a fantasy as any of the romantic x reader content i write. people read fanfic for all kinds of things, and girldad's are a common trope in fan communities for a reason. it's endearing, we love them, and it tells a good story. Homelander is consistently shown loving people for what emotional need they fulfill in him. we've seen supes and humans alike in those roles for him. he may have a bias against humans, but it's undeniable that he still craves the validation and love of them nonetheless. the hatred he feels for humanity is a defense mechanism for his own feelings of abandonment, isolation and rejection in childhood. his conversation with mirrorlander illustrates these conflicting feelings perfectly.

10 characters, 10 fandoms, 10 tags
okay! I am going to do this, I guess! tagged by the wonderful @nostradamus0 who never fails to yell about ducks when I want to yell about ducks.
tagging @gayrootvegetable, @ithinkhobiknows @kataangiscanon @coyotelemon @cursedheir @tiekawaititi @vibee2001 @acting-like-an-optimist @camilleleon22 and anyone else who feels like doing the challenge. Also, the character descriptions aren't necessary; I just felt like doing it.
Caspian from Pantheon. What a gay loser this kid is. He's got trauma, I'VE got trauma. I want my bedroom to be as purple as his.
Darcy Olsson from Heartstopper. A blonde weirdo who breaks the rules and makes new ones and definitely shouldn't have had vodka in Paris.
Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy. A bisexual icon! A magical, magical person! YES I am still crying thinking about her yelling at the homophobic priest in that one episode. She really made me feel seen when I watched the show.
Bolin from The Legend of Korra. Such a himbo. Kind of knew but didn't really know his brother was in prison. Deserved better emotional storytelling. Sweet nerd. Would probably cry if you gave him a snack from your lunchbox.
Lena Luthor from Supergirl. SHE'S REALLY GAY AND SHE WEARS A LOT OF SWEATERS. SHE SHOULD WEAR EVEN MORE.
Uncle Ryan from Primo. He's so weird and he's so proud of himself for his community college training program. The man held himself a graduation ceremony that included him, balloons, and a printer printing out his certificate. PEAK COMEDY. Mike Schur, you mad genius.
Tahani al-Jamil from The Good Place. An absolute lesbian.
Ann Perkins from Parks and Rec. Also a lesbian. I NEED TO WRITE THIS FIC SOMEDAY. "Are you asking me how to flirt with men?" and "someone pointed out to me recently that, when I date a guy, I kind of adopt his entire personality as my own" and the banquet episode where everyone thinks she's Leslie's date and "tragically, we are both heterosexual" -- COME ON. THE WOMAN IS GAY.
Chris Beck from The Martian. He is a geek that other geeks bow down to. Scientist doctor man, I am in love with you.
Eda from The Owl House: look, I just think she's neat and I want her to be my mom. Also, obligatory shoutout to Lilith, an ace icon.

Okay no but like I LOVE my lesbians HC for my fav girls and Kaitlyn is my fav but it rubs me so WRONG when the one women of color in this game who canonically shows interest to the other half of the popular MLM ship gets labeled the lesbian in rylan fics and then just?? They don’t even do anything with that. They don’t do more they just go “she’s lesbian she’s not interested in Ryan!!” And it makes me :))))). Like hmmm
NO ME TOO !!!!!!! i love headcanoning my fave characters as lesbians..... and i LOVE seeing it in fandom. but there are just certain times where it DOESNT work and can be seen as just straight up malicious. esp if they themself are not a lesbian lmao
i personally would see kaitlyn as a lesbian bc the way they portrayed kaitlyn and her "crush" on ryan? it just... the chemistry and whatnot is nonexistent to me. and thats at the FAULT of the game! bc they never even bothered to have a scene where its JUST ryan and kaitlyn on screen! its SOOOOO goddamn obvious which side of the """"love triangle"""" they were rooting for, hence the lack of attention they gave kaitlyn and ryan and bc of that, her attraction to ryan could absoolutely be seen as comphet. but youre absolutely right. of course the one woman of color who DOES show interest in a guy is reduced down to a lesbian JUST because she "gets in the way" of ry////lan
literally saw someone refer to ry////lan as a "canon" queer couple and like LMAO I CANT STAND IT HERE. its insinuated YES bc fuck you supermassive but kaitlyn is STILL THERE...... and evne if you choose all the ry////lan directed choices, THEY STILL DONT CANONICALLY END UP IN A RELATIONSHIP. and i dont give a FUCk if supermassive THEMSELVES have said something otherwise. they already droppped the goddamn ball w/ kaitlyn in SEVERAL different ways, so if they did? fuck them for real. kaitlyn deserved better. i could go on and on about specifics if you for some reason dont believe me when i say the game favors ry////lan, so let me know i guess. may just make a post about it regardless. and dont even give me that "im closer to dylan" bullshit
im very glad im not the only person who it rubs the wrong way though, in fact, it makes me very happy that im not being over dramatic or w/e. youre totally allowed to be put off by it bc it IS simply meant to toss kaitlyn to the side and get her out of the way of their WAY more popular MLM pairing
and it sucks bc like....of COURSE ry///lan being a queer interracial relationship is a great step into the right direction and very good, but so is kaitlyn / ryan. ryan is still a bi black man and its SO easy to also make kaitlyn bi. ryan being in a "straight" relationship doesnt erase his queerness. and like? w/ kaitlyn and ryan, itd be a interracial relationship between TWO poc and thats like......barely seen. which is another reason why erin / jamie is so fantastic, especially since theyre a queer relationship on top of it. AND YET. THEY GOT JACK SHIT COMPARED TO EVERYTHING ELSE HUH? GOD. i wont sit here and lie i have yet to get into TDIM and make art / stuff but. im not shocked that they have SIGNIFICANTLY less
but yeah... them not even doing more w/ kaitlyn being a lesbian is HMMMM absolutely suspicious. it rly exposes their TRUE intentions real quick. it just shows to me that they dont actually care abt portraying a lesbian, let alone telling their story

Which fandoms of artists you listen to are the most unhinged, here's mine <33
Doors and Lana Del Rey (these fanbases are inseparable they're like the music fanbase version of Ryan and Sharpay) - in our defense, they're psychedelia artists so ofc we're gonna be writing mpreg fanfics and practicing witchcraft level unhinged
Pink Floyd - fans beef with everyone and each other on a 25/8 basis to the point of needing a detective chart to keep track of who hates who so u don't accidentally set off anyone also Viva La Mary
Janis Joplin - Not as wild as the first ones but we are all lgbt godbless 💖🏳️‍🌈
But in all seriousness, I hope you get a working laptop for once, ya deserve one
hi! heres mine:
yeah i also love lana, the doors and pink floyd and those fandoms r whack. i'd say lana has the craziest cuz some of the fans are like legit racist and like romanticize drug use and bodyshame her and are just insane.
led zeppelin- not everyone but i've found so many ppl that will work overtime just to defend jimmy page it's wild
the beatles- 60 years ago it was unhinged teen girls and tbh it still is. they're not as crazy as the rest but they still write absolutely insane fanfic and the beatles confession page is scary
mars argo- this one is very niche but oh my God- any video about mars one fan will have to say she's so much better than poppy, or bring up titanic sinclair and how he's horrible. even mars herself said that the last she heard about her fan discord was that they just talk shit on there
and ty! my new computer had to get refreshed so it's working a little better so we probably won't have to return it!

I would like to see your opinions on the Sons of Anarchy characters in the SEND ME A FANDOM game 🥰
Omg I would love to give you my opinions! Let's get into it! 🥰
The first character I first fell in love with: Right off the rip I was an Opie girl. Ryan Hurst has me in the realest chokehold and I will never escape it. 😌
Tumblr media
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Okay so you know. I think it's funny. Because I think that if I wasn't a fic writer, I never really would've given Kozik a second thought. I wasn't drawn to him really all that much when I watched the show. But for a while I had gotten a good number of requests for him and writing him really made me enjoy his character so much more.
Tumblr media
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: It's unreal how much I want to drop-kick Gemma Teller. 😂 I feel like I could write out a laundry list of reasons but I'm not gonna. I just. I don't like her. 😂
Tumblr media
The character I love that everyone else hates: We love and respect Tara Knowles here at drabbles-mc. 😌 That's my wife and I love her.
Tumblr media
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: By the time the end of the series came around, I was sort of just...over Jax. I think it had more to do with Kurt's writing than anything else. But I wasn't really all that torn up about the whole thing. Like, I was sad that the series was over but by that point Sutter had killed off 85% of the characters anyway so like??? It sort of all had to end lmao. I really enjoyed early seasons Jax, and I kept wanting things to get better as the series went on, but it didn't. Sad. Luckily we have fanfic 😂💯
Tumblr media
The character I would totally smooch: Juice Ortiz will never be able to escape me and my insanity over him. He's really in it now. 😂
Tumblr media
The character I’d want to be like: My knee-jerk reaction to this was to say Nero. And that's not untrue. But honestly the more I think about it, I'd love to be more like Bobby. Man had his head on straight more than pretty much anyone else in the series. Plus like, I wanna just bake cookies and play music and get high and all that. What a life!
Tumblr media
The character I’d slap: I don't want to reuse any answers. So. I'm gonna go with Clay on this one. Only instead of slapping I would like to full-on fist fight him. I'd beat those arthritic hands right into the ground, baby!
Tumblr media
A pairing that I love: The way I truly almost didn't have an answer for this as far as canon romances goes because literally everyone was a fucking mess 😂 But Tig and Venus came out on top when all was said and done. If anyone deserved to have a functional relationship in the middle of the mess, it was her.
Tumblr media
A pairing that I despise: Literally WHYYYYY did Sutter keep writing Ima back into the show??? What was her purpose?? They could've left her character completely out of the series and it wouldn't have changed a thing. I hated all the storylines surrounding her and the guys. That poor actress. I want to fight Sutter bare-knuckle in a Denny's parking lot.
Tumblr media
Thank you for this!
Send me a fandom!

I saw someone else (@cohens-songbird) do a sort-of favourites thing for a fandom introduction, and I like the idea so I'm doing one too! :)c
Tumblr media
Favourite Character(s)
Out of the "main" casts for all of the games, and if I had a gun to my head to pick only one, I'd have to choose Dr. Tenenbaum. She's such an intriguing woman in every iteration she's had in the series, and I find her voice very soothing for some odd reason. Sander Cohen and Augustus Sinclair are tied with her for the spot, of course, since charming men with multiple quirks and expanded caricature personalities are my weakness-
But, and this may be cheating a little, Bill McDonough is an underrated fave of mine. Man built most of Rapture and has such a presence throughout the first game that you only notice it upon replaying! Plus, I'm a big fan of the prequel novel,,
Favourite Secondary Character(s)
When I tell ya'll I would straight up kill a man for Jasmine Jolene, I am not kidding. That woman deserved so much better, and I want to give her that life, I swear to GOD!! The same sentiment goes for Mark Meltzer, that poor man :c
Favourite Level(s)
It would be a crime not to say Fort Frolic since I adore the hell out of it design-wise and gameplay-wise, but I'm also kinda into the entire vibe of the second episode of Burial at Sea, specifically the Ryan the Lion Academy. Something about the environment and how this caricature of Andrew Ryan as a children's propaganda mascot intrigues me.
Favourite Fight(s)
Atlas, hands down. I just kicked his ass on Survivor Mode the other day, and it was SO satisfying!! I never tire of destroying him or the cutscene where the Little Sisters stab him to death.
Favourite of the Games
I'm such a sucker for the series' primary narrative trait of "father-daughter adventure time" in other media (see Detroit Become Human and TTWDG). Still, Bioshock 2 hit me on a whole other level. I am so enamoured by Delta's relationship with Eleanor, and it's so far the game I've played through the most.
I would obliterate entire armies for Eleanor.
Tumblr media
Favourite DLC
It's a tie between Minerva's Den and Burial at Sea II. Both struck me in very different parts of my writer-monkey brain, and I was so pleased with them story-wise. Plus, I love any reference to Athena in anything ever, so I am a bit biased-
(and because I have more to say, FPS aspect bonus round!)
Favourite Weapon(s)
Shotgun/Machine Gun gang, baby!!! Trap bolts and mini-turrets are also very fun; I like to be elaborate with my beat-em-ups :)c
Favourite Plasmid/Vigor
INSECT SWARM!!! I am an Insect Swarm stan, and I will not debate it. Incinerate and Murder of Crows are also very fun, and I would like to consider Peeping Tom to be SEVERELY underrated.
Favourite Tonic(s)
I actively go out of my way to get Human Inferno II and Vending Expert II. they bring me peace in the game.
Do I Like Hacking?
No, absolutely not. The minigame stresses me out, so I spend SO much on auto hacks.
Favourite Enemy Type
Big Daddies intrigue me the most design-wise, but I like the Houdini and Spider splicers best. Maybe because watching them get burnt and stung to all hell is super satisfying. I like my bees and fire; what can I say?

Do you have any controversial life is strange opinions?:)
The fact that I like Nathan Prescott is probably controversial enough in this fandom, but...
I like Max and Chloe as best friends more than lovers. Which leads to the next one where...
I think, despite the toxicity that is there initially, that Rachel and Chloe make the better couple.
I get why he does for some, but for me, Warren doesn't creep me out. He just strikes me as very forward with a shaky confidence, and can be inappropriate and awkward to boot.
I feel like Warren needs more exploration of his character, too, since he gets treated even worse than Nathan--in and out of the fandom. Which is an...amazing feat, to say the least, imo. He's hardly in any promotional material, his voice actor never seems to be asked to come back for interviews and/or podcasts, etc. Idk. It makes me sad, because, to me, his character is clearly meant to be a potential love interest for Max, just without the proper balance given like it is with Chloe.
After years of thinking, growing, and changing opinions, I don't think the polarizing ending of the first game is bad anymore. Not as bad as many think, that is. Of course, the name of the chapter itself is "Polarized"--a play on words, and a hint towards the grueling decision for the end. But I think it works for the structure and themes the developers are trying to present in the game. I don't think there's a right or wrong ending, but an ending where Max finally has to face the consequences of her actions, of leaving the past behind and going on to an uncertain future. No matter what she chooses, she can't have it all. Anyway... I thought I'd share a link to a video that explains it in the same way I think instead of putting a huge ass paragraph here if anyone's interested in seeing it how I see it.
Other than a few moments of interesting character development, I think Before the Storm is a pointless existence of a game. No hate on Deck Nine or their team--it looks pretty, and it gave us Steph and Mikey and Samantha--but otherwise it's feels like a fanfiction that became an official game with a lot of inconsistencies that didn't add enough or were a poor "prequelization" with the existing canon. However, I do think Deck Nine made up for it with True Colors lol.
[Insert meme here] Life is Strange 2 is good, y'all are just mean. But, seriously, I get it, it's a depressing sad-fest of a game for the most part, but it's not any less of a story worth telling. There are imperfect aspects to it, but I think people are delusional if they don't think the same for the others just because it doesn't have female/lesbian leads or they think it's "too political." If anything, I just wish we got more of Captain Spirit, Finn, and Cassidy lol. And my girl, Lyla.
Ryan is just as important as Steph and deserves just as much love. Not sure if this is controversial, really, but I'm saying it anyway. Fav. male character by far right next to Gabe and Sean Diaz.
After consideration, I don't think Jed's turn-of-heel in character in True Colors was done poorly. We've seen it before with Jefferson, sure, but this time it was done well and had a backstory that made sense in context instead of it being out of nowhere accompanied by a badly-utilized red herring. It would have been interesting to see what the shadowy Typhon corporation was doing behind everyone's backs, for sure, but it would have deterred from the small community we have gotten to know (and suspect) in the long run. And it really goes to show how much pressure can be put on a single community, a single person, in order to keep their lives comfortable and avoid the hard truth.
The LARP in True Colors was perfection. Don't bother trying to change my mind, naysayers.
The comics aren't as bad as I initially thought, but they still lack a lot that would make people interested outside of the "Bae" ending.

here because of the anon who sent that ask about jacob!
yes 👏 everything you said, just yes. he's such a goofball and a dork, and just adorable. I've seen people call him 'cringe', and sure he can be, but it's not like the others aren't. I haven't really been involved in the fandom publicly, but from what I've seen he's the only character where people nitpick at his flaws. Again, I haven't really been involved so let me know if this isn't true!
honestly at first he didn't catch my eye (talking about trailers and such) but then I played the game and just absolutely fell in love with him
- 🌹
we’re on a similar page. from what i saw before playing, Jacob didn’t interest me much. i was more excited for Justice Smith bc The G*t Down is one of best shows i’ve ever watched. but now that i’ve finished The Quarry several times over, Jacob has held the Number #1 spot for my favorite character!
he’s such a dork and he really warms my heart. not to mention his serious sides. Jacob has alarmingly low self esteem and abandonment issues that become more apparent the later into the game you get. he’s a really interesting character!
abt the cringe stuff: any Supermassive fan getting on a character for being cringe must’ve been asleep when their other games were released. one of the company’s most well known perks is quirky dialogue so to suddenly have a problem with it now is wild.
so far the biggest group i’ve seen that found Jacob embarrassing are the let’s players who were more focused on pairing Jacob up with Emma, instead of genuinely enjoying the characters as their own people. which is sad bc Emma and Jacob are a lot more than just their former romance.
for example, if you look at the “peanut butter butterpops” dance as Jacob simply trying to woo Emma, then yes it’s a bonafide fail. but if you view it as Jacob being super excited to find a snack he hasn’t seen in years, one he loved so much that he memorized it’s jingle, and is so overjoyed at finding a bag he erupts in unrestrained song and dance, only to grow even MORE excited at the idea of introducing said snack to someone who’s never had it before, then the moment comes off as endearing and tooth achingly sweet.
abt the nitpick stuff: tbf i don’t think Jacob is the only character that gets picked on:
Ryan definitely does, like a horrendous amount. most of the times i’ve seen ppl praise his character is just when they ship him with Dylan. and even THEN sometimes ppl will say comments like “Dylan deserves so much better tho, poor guy”. Ryan gets shat on a lot and it’s very uncalled for imo.
as does Emma. ppl hated her island vlogging and call her all types of insults for the way she went abt the dare. which is unfair bc there’s tons of moments where Emma’s deeper personality shines. she’s very concerned for the well being of animals and only wants to make ppl as happy as she can. she is not just “The Girl Who Kissed Her Best Friend’s Crush”™️. she’s fleshed out and deserves her props.
and then there’s that “sociopath/secretly abusive Nick” thing going around. i’ll admit i thought it had merit for a short while, but i’ve come to realize it doesn’t, not as much as ppl think it does anyway.
i believe the only ones who are solid fan faves are Dylan and Kaitlyn. 90% of the fanbase loves Laura, but debate whether she took up too much screentime in Chapter 7 or not. i love Laura but i’m part of the group that agrees her story shouldve either been spread out more or saved for a DLC.

Ask meme: Tiger+Bunny please😁
SORRYYYY!! I forgot to answer, i dont check my main enough, whoops.... 😅😅😅
send me a fandom and i’ll tell you…
the first character i ever fell in love with: Barnaby! I still love him :)
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: I thought Legend and Kotetsu's backstory with him was kinda neat until the reveal💀
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: Okay so I still LIKE Taibani and I love seeing fanart of it and stuff but it's since been greatly overshadowed by my other ships and rarepairs (as happens with all of my fandoms generally lol)
my ultimate favorite character™: Do I even need to say it? Look at the name and pfp... Yuri... (but I also love Jake, Nathan, and Barnaby too!)
prettiest character: Nathan! She's beautiful and I want to be her. I also think Jake is so ridiculously attractive because I'm trash fksmf
my most hated character: Maverick, Legend, Rotwang, Schneider... the usuals!
my OTP: Bunny/Yuri! But Tigerlily and Moonsky aren't far behind!!
my NOTP: Kaede/Yuri, Maverick/Yuri, Maverick/Barnaby are all automatic blocks from me, they make me sick and I wish i could never see them again. Legend with anyone (except his wife in their healthier days) is also kinda 😬 for me.
favorite moment: Hmmm... I liked all of episode 16 (Petrov family trauma episode) and the entirety of the Jake arc the best!
saddest death: Samantha... that broke my heart and still does :(
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: I don't really hate anyone! I guess I'm not a huge fan of Karina but I still like her well enough.
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: Yuri my pathetic little meow meow. And of course, the trash heap duo Kriem and Jake!
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: ANTONIO!! Such a sad little (big?) man. He is failing in his career, his company won't hear him out, he seems to be suffering with an alcohol problem, his best friend just doesn't have as much time for him anymore, and to top it all off he didn't even get his own episode. A CRIME!
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: I don't think I have any real problematic, dark, or controversial ships in this fandom but maybe like... Yuri/Ryan? Not because it's bad, just because they'd be very chaotic and a total train wreck together.
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: Taibani, Edward/Ivan, Ryan/Karina, Agnes/Yuri, and Keith/Ivan all kinda rattle around at the back of my brain even though I'm not actively feral over them.

I see we're going ape over buddie and Choices tonight so
Yknow in 2.07, when Shannon comes back and her and Eddie have their first scene together? The argument at the end, after Eddie says it wouldn't be a good idea for her to see Christopher bc she left them, she says she needed him, she needed a husband and a co-parent - and "I needed someone to have my back!"
To which EDDIE says, "I always had your back"
*insert Incredibles "coincidence? I think NOT" gif here*
(Also side note, I do like that the show doesn't try to sugarcoat what Shannon did being messed up, and that Eddie's own actions weren't really the right thing either[thinking about his conversation with Buck where he says he got to pretend he left for a noble cause even tho he was running], and that it was just a sticky situation that neither of them were equipped to handle in any way, and snowballed. I do kind of wish we could've gotten post-divorce Shannon and Eddie and Christopher interactions, figuring out how they fit together, if at all, bc I like those intricate and messy situations but I could see how that might get too close to retreading old ground re: Michael and Athena's divorce. But I do hate how ive seen the fandom like. Seem to oversimplify things with Shannon sometimes? And make her the ultimate villain, and Eddie Did Nothing Wrong, Ever)
Hi Anon!
The decision to have Buck and Eddie's first bonding moment end with "You can have my back any day" and "or, y'know, you could have mine" only to then six episodes later find out that at least a contributing factor to Eddie's marriage dissolving was that he "didn't have her back" is like. Such a galaxy brain chaos move for them to take, honestly. Like?? They could've had the phrasing be literally anything in 2x07 but instead they had it directly echo Buck and Eddie in 2x01. What was the reason? Why did they do this?
As for the rest of your ask:
(gosh this got long and, uh, opinionated. It is Not Pretty below the cut)
One of the things I really liked about Eddie Begins is that we did get to see him at the beginning of his journey in being Chris's dad because it gives us an opportunity to appreciate how amazingly he's grown as a father. Like, he didn't start out as a perfect dad and he was definitely kind of lost in the woods at the beginning there when it came to the whole "how do I parent" thing. And before Eddie Begins, we'd only ever seen the end result of the growth he's gone through, where he really is a fantastic dad whose son is basically his entire reason for being. Before Eddie Begins, we get to hear him say things like "I left first" and "I've failed that kid more times than I can count but I love him enough to never stop trying" but we kinda have to take that on faith? Because we hadn't actually seen him be anything besides a good dad until we saw his Begins episode. (And even then in his begins it's like "area man in his early 20s unsure how to care for small child while also coping with PTSD and a toxic support system" which like. yeah. no shit. there's one hell of a learning curve there)
The thing about Eddie and Shannon as a couple and as parents that always gets to me is that they were so fucking young. We don't know exactly how old Eddie is in the show, but we can guesstimate pretty safely that he's around the same age as Ryan which would make him between 23 and 24 when Chris was born, and it seems reasonable to believe Shannon was around the same age. It's also a pretty common reading in the fandom -- although I'm not sure how much canon support there is for it because we really, really don't know anything about their relationship pre-Christopher unless I'm forgetting something -- that they got married because Shannon got pregnant and that was the Done Thing. And when you're 23-24, baby on the way, freshly married, that is just like. So much. It sure as hell ruined my parents' relationship when they did that exact thing, and then they disliked each other until they were 27 and then they got divorced, and no one was happier than me about it, I have to tell you.
Back to the show, I can only give you my impressions, obviously, but the impression I have always gotten from the whole "I left too" conversation and the context that goes into it and the different behaviours we see exhibited by the characters is that Eddie "left" first and it comes across to me that he was basically an early twenty-something kid running scared from the abstract concept of being a father in general, and then when he was forced home by an honourable discharge, and was confronted with the reality of Christopher, he managed to step the fuck up and become Christopher's dad. It's there in 2x02, right? "Oh, you've got a kid? I love kids!" "I love this one." Eddie doesn't strike me as a Swiss Army Knife all-purpose Dad(tm) the way Bobby is. Eddie is Christopher's dad. (and like, of course, he's obviously moved by kids when he's on a call, we've seen that enough times to know that if there's a child who can even glancingly remind him of Christopher, Eddie's sense of self-preservation goes out the window, and I love that about him as heart-stopping as it can be in practice)
Shannon, on the other hand, didn't run from the idea of being a mother -- at first. When she left, it wasn't from the abstract. She left Chris (and "gave up" on Eddie, thanks Helena). She was not running from a concept, she was running from a reality. I think Shannon is a fascinating character to include in a television show as a side character, because she really isn't a one note character. Like, she was unarguably a bad mother, and from what we saw, she was a questionable romantic partner to have (but as you said, anon, Eddie was also not 100% the best romantic partner when he was with Shannon either; their entire relationship so far as I can tell was built on sexual chemistry which, uh, super does not sustain a relationship), but she also seems to have been a devoted daughter? I mean, yeah, it's entirely possible that her mom being sick was a convenient excuse to bail -- and obviously she didn't come back after her mom died, and didn't, y'know, contact her son or husband in the interim, so yes, I can see that being a valid way to read the situation. I don't think she's the Ultimate Evil, because she strikes me as a very human character in all the ways that people are more often than not really fucking flawed.
But then we get back to the actual break-up scene. The first time I watched it (and second, and third; then the fourth time the person I was watching with was like "I mean, sure, but it could also be read in this light") her "I'm just learning how to be someone's mother" speech really bothered me? Partly because it was the abstraction of it, right? Eddie doesn't like kids, he likes Christopher, and Shannon sort of had the inverse journey there, I guess, where it went from she didn't know how to be Christopher's mother, to she didn't know how to be a mother. And that speech bothered me because it always sounded to me like she was bailing again. She begged Eddie to let her back into Christopher's life (guilt? I guess?) and like, straight up bribed him with sex which was sure a choice, and then decides -- for a second time -- that she's out. It sounded, to me, she was handing Eddie papers and maybe, in a few years, possibly, once she'd had "time" to "figure out how to be someone's mother" she would try again. Just like she had in the interim between leaving when Christopher was little and the time of season 2.
And like, that could totally be a misunderstanding of the scene and what she was saying. It's what I took away from it, but that could very well be influenced by the fact I was raised by divorced parents and my dad had custody and if you count up all the time I spent with either parent when I was a minor, I was predominantly raised by my father and have had an especially tempestuous relationship with my mother that is mostly (sometimes) repaired now that I'm in my late twenties and have not lived with her since I was sixteen.
Back to the show, and to your comment that the fandom tends to treat Shannon like the Ultimate Evil and act like Eddie Did Nothing Wrong, I mean. Yeah. Fandom as a rule tends to shirk nuance. We're all fools here on the internet sitting in our blue industrial waste container crying about a wee woo show. I personally believe a more nuanced take on that might be that Eddie has shown a great capacity to learn from his mistakes (sometimes to make fun, shiny, new ones, but for the most part, just like ends up doing better the next time) and Shannon did not show that capacity in the time we knew her.
I think, depending on what they did with it, there was potential for an interesting storyline if they'd played through the divorce. I don't think it would've been rehashing ground covered by Michael and Athena's divorce because I can't see Eddie and Shannon having reached a point of amicability and friendship. The only thing we know they had in common was Christopher, and frankly, when you boil it down, the ways they engaged with Christopher as a person were so disparate that -- to me -- it really didn't seem like they had Christopher in common when you get right down to it. But I wouldn't have wanted to see Christopher and Eddie dragged through an ugly divorce process. They deserve better than that.
There's also a conversation to be had about Shannon's blatant ableism towards her own son, but that is extremely not my lane since I am not disabled myself. But even from an outside perspective, basically their entire parking lot conversation in Haunted, uh, haunts me with it's repugnance and the fact that instead of calling her on any of it, Eddie "Chronically touch starved" Diaz's response was to kiss her? Gosh golly do I wish that was one of the mistakes he learned from properly instead of finding a new, shiny version.
ANYWAY this got long, tl;dr (although if you clicked on the read more, you probably read it) version is No, Shannon is not the Ultimate Evil, she's a shitty mom not a demon in a skin suit and a pretty yellow sundress; and No, Eddie is not a flawless human who's never done wrong in his life but holy fuck is he trying and he'd be the first person to tell you he's made mistakes (and often has been); and no, sorry, I don't want to see the divorce storyline play out because we probably would've had to see either Eddie Bashing, Shannon Redemption, or Shannon turning up again like a cardboard cut out of a cartoon villain the way Eva did and I want to be witness to exactly zero of those things.
