Katara: It's a custom from my native country, it tastes very good, you should try it!
Azula: okay, I'll try that... disgusting thing
5 minutes later Azula was vomiting

an ask for u! what side of tumblr do you think each character would be on? (for your selection of characters lol)
characters who would not use tumblr: aang is too busy touching grass; katara is terminally online but primarily in a twitter way, she thinks tumblr is for deranged gays and has never ventured to confirm or deny that suspicion; sokka would probably love tumblr if he knew what it was but he thinks it’s a social media platform (which is only partially true) so he avoids it at all costs because he’s paranoid; toph occasionally tweets but is otherwise too cool for social media; azula thinks tumblr is a cesspit of liberal social marxist postmodern blue haired pronouns, she would much rather stay on reddit thank you very much; ty lee is too busy making bank off of being an influencer, and since tumblr is not a particularly lucrative platform, sees no point in exploring it.
suki would use tumblr but in the most well-adjusted way possible. she just reblogs aesthetically pleasing pictures, pictures of hot girls, music she likes, quotes from books she is reading, occasionally will post her own pictures from a hike or a concert or of something she cooked, or make brief, innocuous textposts about her life that are charmingly humorous. her tumblr presence is entirely unobjectionable.
zuko would use tumblr in the more typical, unhinged way. he gets into fights and receives anon hate constantly (but he won’t turn anon off because he secretly craves the attention). he’s constantly changing his political views, and even though it comes from a place of earnest internal struggle, everyone calls him a hypocrite for it and makes lengthy callout posts with receipts, or claim that he’s probably a russian bot. besides making contentious personal posts that are basically just lengthy monologues about how confused and frustrated he feels, he also reblogs a lot of pictures of cats, frogs, horses, rustic scenery, quotes from giovanni’s room, sad gay poetry, mitski songs, and then the occasional picture of like, a motorcycle with flame decals on it or a sexy picture of a hot girl, just to like, reaffirm his masculinity with the most blatant posturing possible. i mean who is this even for. his tumblr presence is radioactive and anyone who does make the mistake of following him often regrets it within the week.
mai has been on tumblr since puberty but she would deny even knowing what it is to anyone who asked (including zuko, but that’s mostly because she’s seen his blog and couldn’t stand to be mutuals with him out of friendly obligation). her blog has really gone through phases and grown and changed as she’s matured. she definitely went through a superwholock phase and has a lot of opinions on shows like house md and succession too. her blog is mostly a repository for her private thoughts, her favorite video games, tv shows, movies, and music, but she’s amassed a lot of followers through making many funny textposts that get tens of thousands of notes each. she’s constantly getting asks that are all like “thoughts on [X]?” but because she can’t usually be bothered to take them seriously she’ll just reply with a funny quip, which also gets a lot of notes. she used to take her blog more seriously but now it’s just a funny little website for her, and she’s thriving.
yue is putting in so many hours of backbreaking labor at the webweaving factory. her url is probably something like “[noun]motif” (probably moon, water, or angel) and her blog title is a line from louise glück. she mostly posts poetry, both reblogging others’ as well as her own, but she also talks about tv shows she’s watching and books she’s reading. she’s somehow managed to get into drama because ppl will call her out for enjoying and talking about media that supposedly “supports incest” or “supports cannibalism” or whatever but she’s too busy minding her own business to really notice. no one really knows anything about her life because her blog is exclusively centered around her artistic and poetic inclinations, but everyone assumes she’s an english major (no one would ever guess that she’s actually a #womaninstem). years after she dies her mutuals will still make posts like “i miss moonmotif i hope she’s doing okay and that she abandoned her blog for a good reason.” perhaps it’s better that they don’t know.

sconc middle names but me and cori are stupidt
last night me and cori got slap-happy and made a list of characters’ middle names so happy birthday sonic enjoy. tw catholicism jokes bc when we get slap happy we end up on that train
Sonic: His middle name is actually not Maurice. He won’t tell anyone what it is but it isn’t Maurice. Not in the “noooo it’s totally not ;)” way he legit doesnt know where anyone got that misconception from
Metal Sonic: His middle name IS Maurice. That’s where people got that misconception from
Tails: When he and sonic were filling out paperwork to make sure he legally existed Tails realized he didn’t know his middle name and could reasonably put “Tails.” Instead he put “Terminator”
rouge, losing it: oh my god are you serious tails: i was like five and thought it was cool sonic: you were right
Knuckles: He literally doesn’t care so once again when filling out paperwork he’s like.
knuckles: so i guess my last name would be my tribe shadow: the knuckles tribe? knuckles: yeah shadow: so you’re putting down knuckles knuckles knuckles: yeah probably shadow: so what’s your middle name? knuckles: well take a fucking guess buddy
Amy: Also picked her own name. Debated between “Amy” and “Rosy” for a while before sticking with “Amy Rose”– rose for the pretty flower she loves and its symbolism, “Amy” because it means “much loved” and she’s desperate for affection. and then she well. picked a middle name that sounded cool
shadow: oh my god tell me your middle name isn’t “terminator” too amy: oh my gosh no amy: amy: it’s velociraptor shadow: oh my god amy: JURASSIC PARK JUST CAME OUT I WAS HYPED
Shadow: We had two (2) options: #1.) It’s something extremely Catholic like Clementinus. It doesn’t fit his brand so he just doesn’t tell anyone. also he can’t pronounce it. #2.) It’s like a deep, guttural screech/roar. Everyone assumes it was Black Doom’s name for him but no that was Gerald’s idea actually
Rouge: Francisca. Shadow was like “oh something really catholic as well” “actually my family were very much not catholic that’s just a funny coincidence.”
Omega: Terminator. Stole the idea from Tails
Cream:
Tumblr media
Blaze: She has like 48 middle names cause she’s royalty and they’re like that
Silver: “In the future we don’t have middle names. We ate them for sustenance.”
Vector: ALSO something extremely Catholic like Benedict or someshit
Espio: “A ninja’s secret name is to stay absolutely secret. It is the key to their identity. Their soul. None shall know of it.” He picked his own middle name and it was SasuNaru and he’s embarrassed about it.
Charmy: Vector named him so it is also EXTREMELY Catholic. Charmy cannot remember it. “It’s VALENTINE, Charmy!! It’s literally one of the easiest Saints to remember!! Saint VALENTINE!!” “look i made a necklace out of gummy worms :D”
Mighty: it’s something like super normal like Evan or Thomas
Ray: Sunshine :D
Fang: It’s actually Nack. whudda think
Bean: And similar to Fang, it’s ACTUALLY “Dynamite.” Did he name himself? You’ll never know.
Bark: Something super Russian like Vladimir
Big: Big has no middle name he has no last name he is too powerful for all of us
Tikal:
Tikal: yeah we didn’t have middle or surnames in my time. Closest was just “oh that’s Pachacamac’s kid.” Tails: Okay but you need a middle name for paperwork so pick something Tikal: Termi-- Knuckles: No. Tikal: Okay. Lesbian
Jet: Tony. you know why
Marine: It’s just literally “Australian”
Sticks: “Classified.” Everyone is like “oh geez Sticks ok” and don’t realize her middle name is literally Classified
Surge: When she got to pick hers she picked Azula for obvious reasons
Kit: He picked “Surge.”
Belle: Periwinkle
Sage: Ann Ima. believe it or not, that is also. Catholic™
Tekno: Terminator

Now, when I think about it, maybe I didn't give Zuko enough credit, assuming his central reasoning for tracking Yon Rha was Katara's anger management
Seriously though, the aggressiveness of their behaviour (and a flashback-like framing of Yon Rha story) kinda distract you from the fact that they can have different priorities in mind other than violence.
(Besides, roasting Zuko is fun, what else can I say? I've always been a kind of girl that pulls on her favorite boys' ponytails, lol.)
Maybe it was about getting information in the first place, after all. I mean, Zuko of all people can understand the importance of this - if he got anything from his last encounter with Ozai, it was knowledge.
(About this though. Again, the more I think about it, the more the fact that it was just a lucky result of Ozai's choice, and not a main goal of the encounter, doesn't make sense to me. I mean, imagine: you're going to escape the palace to help the Avatar to kill your father, and you have an uncle to rescue on top of that. Confronting Ozai in this situation only to deliver Zuko's "I've learned a lot, oh my father from whose power I'm supposedly free now" speech is extremely dumb and irresponsible idea. The only reason that would worth the risk was asking Ozai about his mother. Because, if Zuko believed Aang was going to kill Ozai, it could be his last chance to get the information. But I guess the writers decided what parallel Ozai with Azula was more important than common sense.
... I mean, Zuko's speech in itself is good. I actually cried a bit the last time I rewatched the scene with me being russian and all, you know, damn, atla is so relatable. I'd just prefer it was delievered in a different context.)
Anyway, back to the topic.
Zuko spent the whole night in front of Katara's tent, and I suppose it's safe to assume he spent it thinking. Who knows what was going on in his head and to which conclusions he came after his dialogue with Sokka? We can only assume. I assumed the worst, because I mostly read the situation by that the characters say directly (well, also because the results of Zuko's thinking process in the past made me facepalm way to often, lol).
But the more I think about tSR, the more I realise that such a superficial approach to reading the material will not get you far in understanding.
Now, I wonder - was Zuko really all that clueless about Katara's feelings towards him (whatever they may be) at the end of the sleepless night?
If we look at the way he behaved during the trip, and the fact that Katara allowed it, we can see a person who is completely sure in his right to act as the other person's partner. Who is aware of his high value in the eyes of another, and rightfully so.
This, to say the least, would be an alarming behavior for a boy who still believes in a girl's hatred towards him.
In the end, it depends entirely on how you want to read it, I guess.
Clueless And Creepy But Lucky Zuko or Surprisingly Intelligent And Sensitive Zuko, hmm?
Ah, choices, choices~

You think the "the only valid ship for Azula is Azula x therapy" thing is bad? HAH wait until you see the Russian atla fandom in which people spew shit like "I only ship Azula x schizophrenia" and "Tyzula is romanticizing abuse", on a daily basis I really don't know how to put it mildly but like, the more I see Russian fandoms debating on controversial characters the more it seems to me they have ableism and dichotomy vision EMBEDDED into them which is the main reason I steered away from it and you're my comfort blog.
I've seen these "takes" in the brazilian fandom, and in the english-speaking, mostly american fandom. It's pretty wide-spread.
Which is why, like you, I stick to my comfort blogs where people have at least a basic understanding of the characters, even if I don't always agree with everyone.

Stepping Into the Russian Sun
Guess who's back! I'm finally posting on A03 again! This is just one of three fics I've currently got planned out. The first one is shorter than this, and is for the same fandom (shut up yes I know its a mobile dress up gacha game shut up shut up shut upppp), this is the middle-length one, and then I'm working on a more long-form fic with Avatar of Vatuu Azula!
Yes I ***will*** be posting about Avatar!Azula decently often while I write. Anyway! I'm back to writing! I'm also currently working on: MLP:FiM rewrite, a novel, and an original animated series (of which I am the head writer <3) with my bestie @camish-and-the-oc-gang / @camilishpilish (Check out her blog for Mane 6 redesigns and other assorted pony art (I suck at drawing horses))
Feel free to ask either of us about any of those three, I am going to Be Autistic about All of Them

Red Rooms
It’s been three months since Azula was linked up with Natasha, they’ve been cohabitating in a little safehouse, she’s picked up on some Russian and learned some new fighting moves. She feels at ease with the older woman. They can sometimes talk about their struggles, abandoned by the people they called “family”, twisted into monsters, running from their pasts.
It’s a content equilibrium, a sort of ebb and flow, Natasha tells her when something she’s seeing isn’t there; without making her feel crazy. Azula doesn’t know what she does that makes Natasha let her stay. She’s still figuring it out.
One night, when Azula is feeling particularly guilty , Natasha tells her, ‘The important thing isn’t what you did, it’s that you never let them take your heart’.
Then that masked assailant attacks them, able to go blow for blow, it's too much of a risk to use her bending but the moves she’s learnt are enough to keep herself safe; they're not after her anyway.
They were after this briefcase, with red vials. Natasha takes her to meet Yelena, her sister, or is she not?. It’s confusing. Nevertheless Yelena Belova is nice, she’s awkward but impressively skilled.
‘What about you, what’s your story?’, she asks when Natasha is drinking her beer . Azula tells her nothing.
They break Alexi out of prison. He reminds her of her uncle, acting like a hero and luxuriating in bygone glory while not understanding how he hurt people and never acknowledging his wrong doings. He acts entitled to Natasha and Yelena’s affection as he brags about all the people they killed as if it was his accomplishment. It's satisfying when Yelena hits him.
Melina instantly calls herself her “Babushka”, grandmother. She’s a scientist, an assasin and the woman who raised Natasha. There’s something startling about the dynamic in front of her. They have been so welcoming to her, so warm and then Natasha brushes them off.
Yelena’s words stick in her brain after everyone has stormed off. “It was real to me”. How many times had she thought that?. How many times had she tried to reach out and been burned for it?. She brought Zuko home and he abandoned her, he made his choice. He can whine about his family being gone all he wants. Her father hurt her just as much as he hurt him, Zuko hurt her, Ursa hurt her, Iroh hurt her but she knows whatever love she had for that family was real even if it was one sided.
She wakes up surrounded by girls around her age. She does what she does best, she fights, matching the girls attacking her blow for blow. The number is overwhelming but she’s managing, barely. Then the girls stop. ‘Take her to be cleared’. One of the men orders. Two widows grab her and lead her down a long hall. Azula takes out one of the vials and sprays them. They run leaving Azula to figure out where Dreykov is.
When it’s over, the Red Room crashes, Natasha makes peace with demons and leaves to fight in a war. “Take care of her for me”. She tells Yelena, Melina and Alexi this as she gives her a hug. It reminds Azula of when she was a little girl, saying goodbye to Lu Ten, watching him leave and not return, they never recovered his body from the carnage.
‘So what is your story?’. Yelena asks her and Azula offers her a token of a laugh.
Yelena disappears and she goes back to Natasha, now head of shield, five years, she’s nineteen, going on twenty now. Grown up and standing at another grave. The woman who taught her so much was immortalised by three simple words. “Daughter, Sister, Avenger”. Those three words will never be enough to express the debt the world will always owe Natasha. She gave her life to undo blood she never had a choice in spilling, she made Azula the person she is now. The family that chose her not the family that used and abandoned her when she was no longer useful.
Sometimes she sees flashes of a red room, a room where she was sharpened into a weapon, she hears the laughter of a child, one long since passed and a woman with dark hair turning away. The children multiply and laugh with her, the woman with red hair turns towards her, and the woman with blonde and even a woman with dark hair, that red room doesn’t look so red anymore. Azula came to this place a broken girl, abandoned, abused, amoral. Azula is none of those things anymore, she is smart, she is caring and she is enough.

Mai’s Emotional Extravaganza!!! day 4
Too much of expressions, really. Boiling Rock will come later.
@maiweek
Notes from the diary.
On fleeting nature of all good things
I suppose I look the happiest I’ve been for a long time. Azula smirks, and Ty Lee giggles and hugs me occasionally. I stopped fighting her hugs, it is not a winnable battle. I’d rather hug Zuko though, and in fact, I do so often. I guess I am giggling in my head right now. Ty Lee would have been proud if she knew. I have to little thoughts right now. I have a bad feeling that all the happiness won’t last long. And Zuko has bad feelings about pretty much everything. But what we can do? Can I just enjoy our hugs for a little bit, without overthinking it?
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot from avatar the Last airbender, episode Awakening. Mai and Zuko are talking on the boat. Text I added: Oh no, oh no, oh no, he is at it again! Help! Work brain, work, what should I do to stop him from worrying so much, I can’t bear seeing him like this again and again. Think, myself. Stay cool, myself, stay cool, don’t scare him!]
Marya’s Song. Marina Vlady. It is a sad song about lovers separated, because a boy is sent to be a soldier. It is a pretty old song, written in 1974, in imitation of folk style. Marina Vlady who sings this song is a French actress, and Vladimir Vysotsky who wrote it was a Russian actor and songwriter. They were married at the time (until his death in 1980), and often separated by the distance and politics between their countries.

Hey, just wanted to chime in and say that I love your work "Far Green Country" so far.
Something clicked when you called Ozai "Lackland". The whole execution order sounds like Zuko saying something along the famous line: "Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"
I love how you integrate history into your works. A lot of it I might not be able to fully appreciate since you do know vastly more than me.
Though, I have to ask. Do you get the feeling that when someone rants about how Azula is the worst human to have ever existed they are clearly demonstrating that they never opened a history book?
Even if my MA didn’t include wallowing in Confederate, Nazi, Tsarist, and Soviet history I would indisputably say so. This is why I invented the Destruction Battalion and Jiren, among other characters to make the point directly.
I treat Ozai as the John to Iroh’s Richard I, within certain limits so that reference is one of the subtler ones I’m always happy to see someone get.
It was modeled on that and on the general Tsarist Russian analogy with a slightly veiled hint that Zuko’s ancestors used this as the “Romanov Colic” order and he was too clueless on palace nuance to realize what he said and the doctors lied to him when they realized he literally meant “put her in a cell and give her actual treatment.” They didn’t want to volunteer for execution but they still ended up getting it or going to the Salvation Committee.
As always I appreciate the kind words. Thank you very much. I’m glad people enjoy reading my stories as much as I do writing them.

So the pacific rim zukka au is beautiful, tender, amazing. But I have an idea for another take on it and im sharing it here because i will not be writing or drawing this and the people deserve to know.
First off, Zukka is the gay scientists. When I first thought of this, my impulse was to say that Sokka is Newton, and Zuko is Hermann. This is Wrong. It’s the other way around.
Then, obviously, Aang is Mako. It makes sense. (Which makes Pentecoste Gyatso)
And Raleigh is Katara! She’s mourning the loss of her last drift partner, her mother Kya. Yes she and Sokka are still siblings. No there is no chance that they could be drift compatible. (It is suggested at one point. But they just look at each other and cue laugh track)
The best part of Katara as Raleigh are the shots of her working to build the wall. She just looks good in coveralls and with the Sea Breeze in her hair. This is the scene that lesbians on tumblr gif the most.
I’m really not sure where to put Azula though...
I like her with Suki a lot so they probably drift together at some point, because theyd be terrifying. And narratively I could put them as the Australians. But I’d really rather Azula not die. Nor would she drift with Gyatso.
Maybe Gyatso goes down with Yue, and we split the role of the younger Australian in half for Yue and Azula to share?

Okaaay, I'm still alive, and this is the almost-last part of my 'Overanalyzing beach Maiko' series. Hooray.
(Ugh, this "little psychological exercise" transformed into some kind of gigantic fire-breathing monster eventually. Good news is that soon I can move on to analyzing something much more pleasant. ... Probably.)
Anyway, let's finish this beast, shall we?
In the last part, great detective Azula found out that the culprit responsible for the imaginary flagrant oppression of Mai's self-expression was Mai's mother, and now it's time for Mai to react.
Mai: "You want me to express myself? Leave me alone!!"
Well, that was... a little bit too overdramatic.
I suspect the writer's implied message here was something like: "Look, if Mai reacted like this to Azula's words, it means that what Azula said is bound to be truth!"
But while possible thoughts in the writer's head are as good as all others, let me be a judge of what I see with my own eyes.
And apart from Mai's forced yelling (as if she expresses her real annoyance, but in an exaggerated way which doesn't come natural to her) and her desire to close the topic... I have no idea what it was about. The exact reasons behind her reaction could be numerous.
Maybe she just got fed up with all this "you can't express yourself" bullshit. I mean, when you express yourself all the time, but everyone around for some reason keeps saying you don't, it really can become pretty vexing, lol.
Zuko: "I like it when you express yourself."
Here we go again. I must to admit though, given Zuko's psychological cluelesness, in the light of the bullshit information he just received it was a nice gesture of support*.
But... Is it actually truth?
(*Quite an egocentrical one nonetheless. I wonder what in Mai's behavior made Zuko think she'll appreciate any of his opinions at this point. I guess he took Mai's story as a food for "she behaves like she doesn't care about me just because of her childhood trauma" rationalization, and this encouraged him.)
What exactly Zuko likes about Mai's "self-expression", anyway? Is forced out-of-character yelling his kink or something?
(... In russian dub they actually translated his line as "I like you like this much more!", lol. It made it so much worse.)
Either he's being very hopeful and patient in his "she can change" delusions, or his tastes turned out to be quite peculiar.
But okay, it's not my place to judge.
Mai: "Don't touch me! I'm still mad at you."
Okay, now her anger looks more natural. Congratulations, Zuko. Although you don't seem so happy about her self-expression this time.
Zuko: "My life hasn't been that easy either, Mai." Mai: "Whatever!"
Directed by Robert B. Weide
Mai: "That doesn't excuse the way you've been acting."
Weeell... technically, it's truth (depending on how you define "excuse" and which actions and life events we are talking about exactly), but...
Firstly - you don't need to excuse person's behavior to try and understand the reasons behind it. And secondly...
How would you know it, Mai?
Last time Zuko tried to talk with you about his life you just yawned at him and told him to stop worrying.
And just now, you denied him a chance to explain himself and shut him down again (right after he listened to your sob story and expressed readiness to support you about your imaginary childhood trauma, by the way).
Of course, Mai didn't ask for Zuko's support in the first place. And I'm not gonna say that his behavior in this scene was perfect, because it clearly wasn't.
Mai doesn't owe Zuko understanding, or anything, really. She isn't obligated to care about what happened to him or to be more considerate about his life tragedy. And yes, people say all sorts of stupid things when they are angry.
But... ugh. Do I really need to spell it out?
Good news is what while Mai is definitely an unlikable self-centred brat, she's still not a heartless monster.
Apparently, it just sincerely didn't occur to her without a direct reminder that when your father deliberately burns half of your face off and banishes you out of the country with an impossible mission, the state of your psyche may be a little bit imperfect after your return home.
Well, that's just one of those things what egocentrism does even to smart people, I guess.
Anyway, when Mai was finally forced to listen about what happened between Zuko and Ozai from his own mouth, she couldn't just close her eyes and dismiss it like she did previously.
(By the way, I wonder if Zuko would ever mention it if not for Ty Lee "skin" blunder. ... And now I wonder whether it really was a blunder or a deliberate manipulation. /paranoid noises/)
Congratulations, boy - your life story is so disturbing it managed to burst even angry Mai's egocentrical bubble. A truly remarkable accomplishment, if you ask me.
But I guess it's never too late to open your eyes and notice other people's pain. Even if for a little while. Even if it's just one specific person you're physically attracted to.
Mai: "Who are you angry at, Zuko?"
Yep, she finally got interested!
Something definitely shifted in her head.
(This whole scene is so overdramatic it makes me cringe though. I wonder if there is a ghost of an Ember Island's actor on the beach as well. They are friends with the ghost of the amateur psychoanalyst, actually. The actor pretends to be different people, and the psychoanalyst dissects all their imaginary childhood traumas, and they have a great fun together in their beach after-life. Aww.)
Zuko: "I'm angry at myself! Because I'm confused. Because I'm not sure I know the difference between right and wrong anymore." Mai: "I know one thing I care about. I care about you".
Well guys, remember: if your girlfriend just broke up with you because of your unexplainable anger problems, just yell at some fire, say "I'm angry at myself and I can't tell what is right and what is wrong", and it immediately brings her back to you!
(Okay, maybe you'll also have to remind her that you're a victim of child abuse for it to work)
Seriously though, I can't say now what Mai's change of attitude doesn't make any sense (like I did previously). In between "Mai acts like she doesn't care" and "Mai acts like she cares" situations there was a noticeable factor - Zuko talking about his scar and his relationship with Ozai. I guess all he said after this didn't really make much difference for Mai - her empathy already woke up from its coma and said to her what this boy needs some care.
So, Mai declares she still wants Zuko despite everything, and they are back to shoving tongues into each other's mouths. Hooray?..
The only problem is... All the other problems what are still here, goddamit!
Perhaps Zuko will try and stop to lash out at other people in the near future (especially physically), but his anger problems are not gonna cure themselves magically just because the source of his anger is more clear to him now.
(Also, the massive complex of problems connected to Zuko's jealousy behavior was simply forgotten as if it meant nothing.
The fact that his general personality settings - such as locus of control and feeling of personal boundaries, for starters, - really could use some improvement was totally ignored as well.)
He is still in the middle of the inner crisis, and he's not going to discuss it with this 'new caring version of Mai' in more details (until she suddenly finds herself alone with his "by the way, I betrayed my country" break-up letter).
What Zuko learned about Mai's "childhood trauma" can help him to become more tolerant to her natural temperament, but since he's delusional about the true situation (in my opinion) and tends to use it as food for rationalization, it can have some problematic consequences.
And while brief awakening of Mai's empathy towards Zuko was an important improvement, her general egocentrism and lack of interests in life are not gonna be cured just by the "power of love". There's clearly some serious personal growth for her to do, and this beach psychoanalysis session did nothing to give her a clue of how to approach it efficiently.
Well, this all doesn't matter, apparently, because now Mai cares about Zuko enough to try and save him from being boiled alive on her eyes in the later episodes.
(Still not enough to deny herself a pleasure of purposefully taking his break-up letter with her on their meeting in prison to throw it on his head)
And I guess this is the result of their beach interactions.
Yay, power of love!
Pheeeew.
I guess it's over. There are still a couple of things to add in the epilogue post though.
Honestly, by the end of this series I just feel exhausted. Maiko is a very problematic ship, especially for an endgame, but this was obvious without any dissection.
There were a couple of discoveries I find quite curious, but for such a big complex material it wasn't nearly enough. And I feel like my psychological competence clearly could use some improvement.
Anyway, thanks for your attention. I hope my messy analysis gave at least a little bit of food for your own toughts.
As usual, I ignore all my notifications.
P.S.: In the end, when I think about it... Perhaps I don't like Mai because I actually see in her an exaggerated reflection of my own problems. What a twist. Perhaps I should try and be less judgemental about her in the future?
... Naaah. Where is a fun in it?
R.I.P., all the victims of Crocus City Hall attack. It actually happened in my neighborhood. Feels weird.
