(Conversation anon) *draws card* who is the most skill swordsman among the link sequel boys and Hero's Shade included. P.S. given enough resources how long would it take Lore and Mask to break an (uninhabited) time stream, the sooner they finish the sooner they get Grandma's soup.
The most skilled swordsman? Ah... well, Shadow and Oni each have several hundred years of experience behind them, so they're pretty good. The Hero's Shade, of course, has a full lifetime behind him, so he is also pretty good. Dusk learned from the Shade, so he's got a bit of an advantage over the rest of the group. Rune can apparently pick up anything and successfully kill a demon-god with it so I'm giving him points for that, and... Lux has enough control over his sword skills to do fancy combos, so he gets points too
P.S. Eh, three days, probably? One to set up a bootstrap paradox, one to initiate it, and one more to deliberately break it and watch the laws of reality crumble in response!

(And returns, and is always the same)
My contribution for the @rf5dawntodusk zine!
Livia takes a nighttime walk around Rigbarth.
The fire in her hearth had burned down to smoldering embers, and she added another log. It caught quickly and warmth bloomed in the room. It wasn’t really the season to require a fire at all times, but Livia enjoyed the warmth regardless of season. Ares often teased her about being a cold-blooded reptile, needing a warm fire even in the heart of summer which, for one, rude, and for two inaccurate. Dragons weren’t cold-blooded, nor reptiles, regardless of how they looked.
Livia looked at her bed. Despite her teasing about her bedtime, she really wasn’t ready to sleep. She didn’t really need to sleep as often as mortals did and could go quite some time without needing real rest. And right now, she wasn’t feeling particularly tired.
She could read a book. Simone had let Livia borrow a thick tome on the early days of the former Sechs Empire that she hadn’t gotten around to reading yet. But Livia faltered when she looked at her reading chair. After spending most of her night trapped behind a desk, sitting still for several more hours was the last thing she wanted to do.
A walk then.

bored, looked up drow name meaning
Jarlaxle - prefix Jhul/Jar: charmed, rune, symbol; suffix cyrl/axle: ally, companion, friend. -> charmed friend? symbol of ally? If he were born female, his name would be... Jhulcyrl. Barely pronounceable.
Gromph Baenre - suffix oyss/omph: binder, judge, law, prison. His female name counterpart could be... Groyss...
Triel Baenre - Triel/Taz: bat, winged.
Minolin Fey-Baenre - prefix Min/Ran: lesser, minor, second; suffix olin (unisex): ascension, love, lover, lust. -> minor lover? second lover? Tbf she is the second named lover of Gromph in the series. Very... plot relevant name.
Minthara Baenre - prefix Min/Ran: lesser, minor, second; suffix thara/tar: glyph, marker, rune -> lesser glyph, second rune... glyph jr.? Kind of a cute name meaning from what we've seen.
Nalfein Do'Urden - prefix Nhil/Nal fear, horrible, horror, outraged; suffix ffyn/fein: minstrel, singer, song -> fear singer? song of outrage? horror minstrel... Nhilffyn would be his female counterpart.
Dinin Do'Urden - prefix Gin/Din berserk, berserker, orc, wild; suffix inil/in lady/lord, rider, steed -> berserk rider? wild steed? berserk lord. Gininil is a bit of a tongue twister...
Drizzt Do'Urden - prefix Jys/Driz hard, steel, unyielding; suffix zyne/zt finder, hunter. -> unyielding hunter?
Zaknafein Do'Urden - prefix Zar/Zakn: dusk, haunted, shadow; suffix afae/afein bane, executioner, slayer. Dusk slayer, haunted bane, shadow executioner. His name's female counterpart would be Zarafae. However, in "Relentless", it is stated that Zaharina is the feminine of Zaknafein.
Tumblr media
Baby girl is named after her grandpa <3
Malice Do'Urden - Prefix Mal/Malag: mystery, secret; suffix ice/eth: obsession, taker, taken -> secret taker. So her name means something in drow and it's a coincident that it makes up a word that has meaning in Common.
Briza Do'Urden - prefix Briz/Berg graceful, fluid, like water; suffix a/agh breaker, destruction, end, omega -> graceful end.
Vierna Do'Urden - prefix Vier/Val black, dark, darkness; suffix na/nar adept, ghost, spirit -> darkness's adept.
Maya Do'Urden - prefix May/Mas beautiful, beauty, silver; ; suffix a/agh breaker, destruction, end, omega -> beautiful destruction.
For all that she did, gotta give it to Matron Malice when it comes to the naming department. She knows how to give name that's got a good balance on both the meaning and pronounceability.
Sorn Orlith - prefix In/Sorn enchanted, spell.
Nym Orlith - prefix Myr/Nym: lost, skeleton, skull. According to the list, Nym is a male prefix?
Viconia DeVir - prefix Vic (unisex) abyss, deep, profound; suffix onia/onim rod, staff, token, wand. -> abyss' wand.
bonus:
Tumblr media
Matron Baenre had a LOT of children and so a tonne to name. Idk how she did it or if she give up after the first... 5 and just go for a dice roll for the rest.
Tumblr media
I wasn't able to find the meaning for a few name, like Quenthel's. Also some prefix seen in existing drow's names like Sos in Sosdrille and Sos'Umptu is not in the list.

Catelyn Stark & Robb Stark with Grey Wind at Oldstones
Tumblr media
They reached Oldstones after eight more days of steady rain, and made their camp upon the hill overlooking the Blue Fork, within a ruined stronghold of the ancient river kings. Its foundations remained amongst the weeds to show where the walls and keeps had stood, but the local smallfolk had long ago made off with most of the stones to raise their barns and septs and holdfasts. Yet in the center of what once would have been the castle's yard, a great carved sepulcher still rested, half hidden in waist-high brown grass amongst a stand of ash.
The lid of the sepulcher had been carved into a likeness of the man whose bones lay beneath, but the rain and the wind had done their work. The king had worn a beard, they could see, but otherwise his face was smooth and featureless, with only vague suggestions of a mouth, a nose, eyes, and the crown about the temples. His hands folded over the shaft of a stone warhammer that lay upon his chest. Once the warhammer would have been carved with runes that told its name and history, but all that the centuries had worn away. The stone itself was cracked and crumbling at the corners, discolored here and there by spreading white splotches of lichen, while wild roses crept up over the king's feet almost to his chest.
It was there that Catelyn found Robb, standing somber in the gathering dusk with only Grey Wind beside him. The rain had stopped for once, and he was bareheaded. "Does this castle have a name?" he asked quietly, when she came up to him.
—Catelyn V aSoS
This scene was so vivid I felt compelled to paint it, Robb brooding beside the tomb of a forgotten king has such poetic irony knowing what happens to him shortly after. I like the detail of Robb not wearing his crown in this scene, and the roses covering the king’s tomb evoke the same rose imagery often associated with Lyanna—another Stark gone too young. I think Grey Wind is too small I should have made him way bigger but oh well !

✨New item!✨ Wishbone  Wondrous item, very rare
This goose furcula has been enchanted and engraved with powerful runes of fate. As an action, two creatures may each pull one side of the wishbone to break it in two. The creature that breaks away the larger portion of bone is granted one use of the wish spell. The other creature immediately dies, and its soul is consumed when the wish is used. To determine which creature dies and which gets the wish, they must choose evens or odds before breaking the wishbone, and then roll a die. Once the wishbone is broken, it loses its magic.
Henrietta ran home, taking a narrow deer path that wove through brambles and under grasping branches. It was long past dusk. Her mother was certainly going to be cross with her for playing in the forest after dark.  Nevertheless, little Henrietta was grinning broadly. She had made friends with a strange woman in the woods who gave her a gift: a wishbone! The small forked bone was grasped in her hand, proof that she hadn’t imagined the encounter. According to the old lady, she would need to break the bone with another person before she could make her wish.  Luckily, her brother Henry was outside gathering kindling when Henrietta arrived. He didn’t believe her story about the ugly green woman or the wish, but eventually agreed to participate. She was going to wish for a pet dog, one that could talk and dance, or maybe fly, she hadn’t decided yet. Henry said he would wish for endless kindling, so he could be done with his chores already. They each grabbed one end of the wishbone and pulled-

Truth-Teller's Scabbard
Just some quotes and me obsessing over where the name come from.
But the second male, the more classically beautiful of the two … Even the light shied from the elegant planes of his face. With good reason. Beautiful, but near-unreadable. He’d be the one to look out for—the knife in the dark. Indeed, an obsidian-hilted hunting knife was sheathed at his thigh, its dark scabbard embossed with a line of silver runes I’d never seen before (acomaf)
Azriel’s knife was out, balanced on a knee. Truth-Teller— the name stamped in silver Illyrian runes on the scabbard. He’d already learned that the Attor and a few others had been stationed on the outskirts of the Illyrian territory. I was half tempted to dump the Attor in one of the war-camps and see what the Illyrians did to it. (acomaf- rhys' mind)
Elain’s eyes widened at the obsidian-hilted blade in Azriel’s scarred hand. The runes on the dark scabbard. “It has never failed me once,” the shadowsinger said, the midday sun devoured by the dark blade. “Some people say it is magic and will always strike true.” He gently took her hand and pressed the hilt of the legendary blade into it. “It will serve you well.” (acowar)
Az ran a thumb down Truth-Teller’s black hilt, the silver runes on the dark scabbard shimmering in the light. “What about the human queens?” (acofas)
It is said to be carved in illyrian runes...so who carved them there? Why "Truth-teller"? What truth it tells? Bc so far in the story it didn't do anything that leads to a truth reveal? Or it did? Elriel tt scene? It was the bridge between them? Is it telling us the "truth" about elain and azriel?
But still...who carved those runes there? Enalius?
My father had never shown himself to be giving—long had he kept Gwydion and never once offered it to my mother. The dagger that had belonged to his dear friend, slain during the war, hung at his side, unused. But not for long.
The Asteri’s eyes flared with recognition at the long blade. “Did Fionn send you, then? To slay me in my sleep? Or was it that traitor Enalius? I see that you bear his dagger—as his emissary? Or his assassin?”
He was the first wielder of it so did he carve them there? But why? Does it have something to do with ramiel? Because Gwydion was made on top of ramiel and they are twin blades...so tt is also connected to ramiel. So...maybe we need to take it there.
The snows around Ramiel parted, revealing a massive bowl of iron at the foot of the monolith. Even through the vision, its presence leaked into the world, a heavy, ominous thing.(Hofas)
Another shift of memory, and Fionn pulled a long blade from the Cauldron, dripping water. A black blade, whose dark metal absorbed any trace of light around it. Bryce’s knees weakened. (hofas)
The only other truth name we have was about a location—a room. Dusk's truth. Is it going to be another location? A room? Maybe it is under ramiel like that dusk room was under Asteri's palace. But what truth is it going to reveal?
And "it will always strike true" as Azriel said it ...maybe it is not a magical word about the blade but actually strike through a truth...truth teller...strike the truth??!?! Like Bryce did with TT and gwydion in those caves under Avallen??
Bryce peered down at the eight-pointed star in the center of the room. The two strange slits in the points. One small, one larger. She looked at the weapons in her hands: a small dagger, and a large sword. They’d fit right into the slits in the floor, like keys in a lock.(Hofas)
Maybe we have to do the same...so strike the truth. (I dont even know lmfaooo)
also interesting myth connection...In athurian legends excalibur has a scabbard that is important.(I went into detail in this post about the connection of gwydion and tt to excalibur)
In the Post-Vulgate version, used in Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur for the second Excalibur, the sword's scabbard is also said to have powers of its own, as any wounds received while wearing it would not bleed at all, thus preventing the wearer from ever bleeding to death in battle. For this reason, Merlin chides Arthur for preferring Excalibur over its sheath, saying that the latter is the greater treasure.
And it is actually stolen from Arthur by Morgana.
The scabbard is, however, soon stolen from Arthur by his half-sister Morgan le Fay in revenge for the death of her beloved Accolon, he having been slain by Arthur with Excalibur in a duel involving a false Excalibur (Morgan also secretly makes at least one duplicate of Excalibur during the time when the sword is entrusted to her by Arthur earlier in the different French, Iberian and English variants of that story). During Morgan's flight from the pursuit by Arthur, the sheath is then thrown by her into a deep lake and lost. This act later enables the death of Arthur, deprived of its magical protection, many years later in his final battle. In Malory's telling, the scabbard is never found again. In the Post-Vulgate, however, it is recovered and claimed by another fay, Marsique, who then briefly gives it to Gawain to help him fight Naborn the Enchanter (a Mabon figure).[32]
So it is stolen by morgana...and thrown into a deep lake and it is lost. And this leads to Arthur's death in his last battle bc he doesn't have the scabbard anymore to stop him from bleeding...
Ngl there is a pretty sus person who was very interested in Truth-teller in acosf...IDK...if you know you know...........
So thats it...thanks for reading 🫡🩷

Hello! Perhaps do you know of any Fleurmione fics with the veela mates trope that explores the veela and culture? Set during the school year if possible, before the war. I just really like fics that explore Fleur's inhuman side and everything that may come with it.
Hi!
Unfortunately neither of us are fleurmione experts but, we were able to enlist the help of the lovely members of the fleurmione server to put together this list for you!
Dusk of Summer, M rating, 86k
Dusk of Summer takes place during Hermione's fourth year at Hogwarts, the same year that Fleur Delacour visits the school in hope to compete in the Triwizard Tournament, and the same year they begin their love affair. This is an alternate universe, so possibilities are limitless. I must apologize for the terrible summary, but there's quite a bit more information inside.
Fleur De Mon Coeur, M rating, 141k
Goblet of Fire but in a different year. Fleur Delacour comes to Hogwarts to take part in the Triwizard Tournament not realising that her life is going to change drastically, by the simple presence of Hogwarts' All-Time Smartest Witch, Hermione Granger, who she finds to be her lifelong mate.
Entwined, T rating, 84k+
This is a promising story on fanfiction.net from 2010!
What We Are, T rating, 94k, WIP
The Triwizard Tournament brings new faces, new feelings, and new horrors to the grounds of Hogwarts. Hermione and Fleur are thrown into a muddled mess of agitation and attraction.
The Mortal Coil, M rating, 98k
Hermione couldn’t believe she had been so stupid. What a foolish and perfectly prideful thing to do. The brightest witch of her generation, gifted and sensible Hermione Granger, gave into peer pressure. She wasn’t going to. Not originally. Not until that bloody smirk. Now magically entangled in the Triwizard Tournament, Hermione must ensure her survival in the Wizarding World’s most dangerous game. But as her dreams become haunted by an omnipotent, mysterious force, the young witch must come to terms with her own mortality and learn to appreciate both life and love.
On Teenagers & Love, M rating, 160k, WIP
On the surface, things are not always what they seem. It takes a few study dates for Hermione to warm up to the girl she thought was the ice queen from Beauxbatons.
Veela Rituals - The Choice, T rating, 9k, Series
Hermione’s fourth year at Hogwarts was not going well so far, and it was only November. First, without the time turner, she had to choose between ancient runes and arithmancy. Then the Goblet of Fire had designated Harry as a fourth champion in the Triwizard Tournament. And now she had the distinct feeling that the French champion Fleur Delacour and her two cousins, Fabien and Aurélia, were following her everywhere. Was she becoming paranoid or was there more to their strange behaviour?
