Translation from Twisted Wonderland the 2nd novel: Cheka (pt1)

"‘Unca, I finally found you!’ Something bounces like a ball into the infirmary.

Standing in the doorway and pointing a small finger is a young, beast-person boy. His red-brown hair sticks out at all angles and his small ears twitch with excitement.

The boy is pointing beyond Yuuya’s bed to Leona, who now wears a grumpy look.

‘Ugh, damn…something annoying just showed up.’

The boy rushes for Leona’s bed, shocking the rest of the room by leaping directly onto his chest and managing to draw a cry of pain from Leona.

‘Unca’s game was really cool! When you come home next, teach me Spelldrive!’

‘All right, all right, stop yelling in my ear!’

The boy gives a carefree laugh, radiating brightness like the sun.

This sudden visitor has thoroughly surprised Yuuya and the others. He is certainly not a student; he must have come from outside the school. And what more, for him to leap upon Leona without a care for his terrifying expression, he must know no fear.

Leona forcibly pries off the excited child and drops him roughly on the floor. Clearly believing that they are playing some sort of game, the boy cries out playfully and giggles.

‘You—where are your attendants?’

‘I wanted to see Unca right now, so I left them behind!’

‘Moron. They’ve got to be looking all over for you…uhg, what a hassle.’ At the sight of Leona holding his head in his hands, Ruggie tilts his head to one side.

‘What’s this ‘unca’? And who’s this annoying brat?’

Leona is silent for several moments. Eventually he breathes a long sigh, wearing the sourest face that Yuuya has ever seen.‘This furball is my brother’s son, Cheka. In other words…my nephew.’

‘Nephew!?’ The entire room exclaims aloud, in unison.

Jack, who had been asking ‘Where did you come from?’ while nonchalantly stroking Cheka’s head, jerks his hand back in surprise.

Leaning half out of his bed, Ruggie points at Cheka with one, trembling hand. ’But that means, this brat…no, this young master, is Sunset Savanna’s future king…!?’

Leona’s brother, that is, the first prince of Sunset Savanna. Yuuya knows little about the country’s various circumstances, but he knows that the first prince seems to be a source of deep resentment for Leona, as the catalyst of Leona’s overblot.

This adorable child being his son means that this is the royal grandson.

At the word ‘king’ Jack, too, stares down at Cheka in disbelief. 'You’re telling me that this kid has a better claim to the throne than Leona-senpai…?’"

Twisted Monsterland Shenanigans: "Little Magic Tricks"

So I came across a video, and I honestly couldn't help but imagine mini!Yuu and Cheka wanting to impress their big brothers/uncle Leona with a cool "magic trick" that Ace taught them involving a little sheet.

And, of course, the trick not exactly working, but everyone just plays along and pretends that it went according to plan 😂

Cheka: "Unca' Leona! We wanna show you a magic trick~!"

Leona: *covering his eyes with an arm* "I'm busy right now. Why don't you go find Ruggie or the frosh's and show them?"

Mini!Yuu: "It's a disappearing magic trick!"

Leona: "..." *sits up with a tired sigh* "Okay. Let's see it."

Mini!Yuu: *goes and grabs a towel and holds it up, Cheka standing next to them as they both beam in excitement* "Don't blink, or you'll miss it!"

Leona: "Alright, alright, I won't."

Mini!Yuu: *lifts the towel up several times, finally holding it up as high as possible before dropping it to reveal Cheka no longer beside them* "Ta-da~!"

Cheka: *partly hidden behind a tree, his backside and wings still visible as he giggles*

Mini!Yuu: *notices and uses their foot to nudge him further, causing him to fall on the other side of the tree before he gets back up to hide properly* "Now, ta-da!"

Leona: "......oh wow, where did Cheka go?"

Cheka: *hops out with a big grin* "Here I am!"

Leona: "Heh. Great magic trick. You know who would love to see it, too?"

Mini!Yuu and Cheka: "Who??"

Leona: "Those researchers and the teachers would love to see it. Why don't you two go find and show them? Heh, why not show the whole school?"

Mini!Yuu: "Okay! C'mon, Cheka!"

Cheka: "Yay!"

Leona: *flops back down on the grass and closes his eyes* "Finally. Now I can nap in peace..."

In an attempt to further isolate "the cursed prince" and "protect the royal family", some of the Kingscholar's retainers tried to make Cheka hate Leona.

Just a few staff members telling the cub about the horrors of King's Roar, with some extra insults about the actual second prince ("He's cursed. He's lazy. He's lazy AND cursed. etc...)

The little prince listened to everything with a wide-eyed expression, right before leaving without saying a single word.

A few hours later, Cheka stormed the library (where Leona was napping), carrying a box filled to the brim with toys and old textbooks, as well as a beach bucket and shovel. The little prince then started to yell at Leona, asking his unca to turn everything into sand with "Kwing's Rwoar" so they could make a sandcastle!!

The cub didn't even understand the retainer's fears. All he got from that whole conversation was that his uncle has a cool power and that they don't have to go to the beach to make sandcastles anymore.

And that's how the two spent a whole afternoon building a replica of Sunset Savanna, with the palace, King's Rock and even the Elephant Graveyard. Falena was crying in the corner while Kifaji took pictures.

All's well that ends well! Aside from the retainers, that is. Cheka told everything to his parents and Kifaji, who fired everyone.

On a lighter note, Ruggie's grandma now works at the royal palace! Apparently some spots opened up...
