roadogs Mugshot and Me recently visited @thegrant_la - a fab new cocktail bar in Glassell Park!
On the wall is Franc aka ‘Space Walrus’ whom @jamesroday adopted from me before I founded Road Dogs. Back when it was just me and a couple of fosters!
The Space Walrus passed away in 2018 but he is much loved so The Grant named a cocktail after him.
And they’ll be donating the proceeds to Franc’s Fund with us so more lives can be saved. Thank you!
I encourage you all to go there and drink it!! 🍹 ❤️🍹

Some of you may recall James doing a podcast with Karen Gillan a couple years ago in a construction site he and his business partners were turning into a bar called "The Grant". Covid clearly delayed that endeavour because there hasn’t been a lot of news since then but last month, on 28 August, it finally opened its doors to customers. Eater has a good article with some more background info and photos.
It looks like James has been keeping his name off the record but just like he promised on the podcast, Franc’s portrait is a prominent feature on the bar’s wall and menu. (There’s also a cocktail named after James himself.)
The bar has its own Instagram account if you’re interested.

ROADDOG
1965. American motorcycle designer William "Wild Bill" Gelbke with his Roadog motorcycle. It was 17 feet (5.2 m) long and weighed 3,280 lbs (1,490 kg). Roadog was quipped with a Chevrolet 153 engine and GM powerglide transmission. Roadog introduced several firsts to motorcycle design, including dual headlights, automatic transmission with reverse gear, the hydraulic stands, and front and rear disc brakes.

Cole followed a bulldog rescue based in LA @/roadogs a while ago (and then, apparently, unfollowed). Naturally, at the time I thought they might have wanted to foster a pup since, I agree, there was a reason (most likely their schedules) they didn't adopt one before.
I’ll admit I remembered the account and checked it yesterday for the pup that was with them. Just in case lmao.
But yeah, with RD taking up as much time as it does plus them being in high demand beyond that, I totally understand why they didn’t before.
Again totally wanna be wrong about this haha
