"They're out of the cookies, sweetheart," Eddie turned to Steve as he came back from the restroom of the Wendy's.
They were still nearly six hours from home and exhausted, a little bit grumpy if Steve's silence for the last hour was anything to go by.
"I'll have a Frosty then."
"Machine's down."
Steve blinked at him before sighing.
"I guess nothing then, right? Just the burger and fries."
Eddie sighed, too.
The visit with Robin hadn't gone...well. She'd told them she was taking a year to study abroad and part of the program meant she could only come home for one week during their summer break. Steve wasn't taking it well that she'd go from being an eight hour drive away to an eight hour flight away.
He was being patient.
He knew Steve hated change like this, and he'd only been sitting with it for about 12 hours.
Eddie turned back to the cashier with a smile.
"Two number two's, one with no onions and one with no tomatoes please."
Steve was standing next to him, staring down at his phone. When Eddie looked over, he had a tab open showing the program details of Robin's study abroad track.
While they waited for their food, Eddie watched Steve biting his lip, then his thumbnail, and then his lip again.
"Stevie, what's goin' on in your head?" Eddie finally asked.
Steve shoved his phone in his pocket and looked at the floor.
"Nothin'."
"It's clearly somethin'. You worried about Robin?"
"Obviously," Steve huffed.
"Love, she's-"
"Steve Munson!"
Both of them whipped their heads back to the counter, where a woman was pushing a tray of food towards them.
Steve's wide eyes looked back at Eddie, cheeks a bright red.
Eddie walked up to grab their food, ignoring the butterflies in his stomach at the thought of Steve actually being Steve Munson.
It's not that he hadn't thought about it before; He had thought about it most days for the last year.
There was a ring in his drawer at their apartment to prove it.
"Table?" Eddie choked out, avoiding eye contact with Steve.
They were quiet as they sat down, taking their food off the tray and looking at it. Not eating, not even touching it anymore, just looking.
"Um."
"So."
They looked at each other, then back down at their food.
"Steve Munson sounds kinda nice," Eddie said hesitantly.
"Yeah?" Steve was picking at the wrapper around his burger now.
"I mean, I've thought so for a while."
"You have?"
Eddie was really about to propose in this Wendy's.
Without a ring or a real speech.
Just himself and a few old people in the corner eating chili.
"I'm gonna do this for real somewhere that isn't a Wendy's on an exit in some shitty town that has two gas stations and a Wal-Mart, but for now." He cleared his throat and reached across the table to take Steve's hand. "I dunno why they called that name, but maybe it's a sign. I love you. I know right now you're having a lot of thoughts, and you don't have to answer me. I'm not even on one knee, but really this is a Wendy's and my knee's been hurting for the entire ride. I love you. I said that already."
Steve giggled and Eddie couldn't help smiling back at him.
"I love you. I'll say it as much as you want, as long as it makes that smile happen. I'll say it when you're sad and grumpy, when you're happy and silly, when you're tired, when you're hyper. If it's okay with you, I'll scream it right here."
"In the Wendy's?"
"Yes, in the Wendy's."
Steve just nodded.
"Attention everyone! This man right here? I love him!" Eddie was saying loudly, gaining the attention of everyone around them. "And I'm asking him right now, to be my husband!"
"Sir, this is a Wendy's," an old lady sitting in the booth across from them said.
Eddie and Steve immediately started laughing.
"Well, is he sayin' yes so you'll shut up or what?" An old man said from the other end of the lobby.
Eddie looked at Steve with a smirk.
"Yeah, I'll marry you," Steve said loud enough for everyone to hear.
A couple people clapped, but for the most part, everyone went back to ignoring them.
Eddie kissed Steve softly, chastely.
"Was this a distraction from the Robin thing?" Steve asked.
"Not intentionally. Worked though."
Steve rolled his eyes fondly.
"You better make the real proposal a spectacle."
"Anything for you, my love."

James is pushing his luck at this point, and he knows it. Can’t help it, really. The heat in Regulus’ cheeks never fully gets the chance to fade, no matter how long a break he gives him, and it’s worth it. Fuck, it’s so worth it. He’ll deal with whatever turnaround he’s got coming to him later, because this? Oh, James is riding this high for as long as he fucking can.
The tiny little remote sits in the curl of his palm, tucked beneath the brunch table. It weighs less than his phone, about as big as his thumb, at best, and yet the power he wields with it is otherworldly.
A small red switch that clicks on and off, a plus button and a minus button beneath it to control the intensity of vibrations —it’s all he really needs. He’s been messing with it in starts and stops for the last hour, knowing full well that while he absently fidgets with the buttons and switch, Regulus is squirming one seat down across the table, absolutely ruining that vibrating g-string James got him for Christmas.
It’s been a little while since James last clicked it on, giving Regulus the opportunity to eat his food without the threat of accidentally inhaling a bit of french toast and truly calling more attention to himself —James is courteous like that. Now that they’ve all settled into chatting over coffee and mimosas, winding down after finishing up their meals, though, it feels like as good a time as any.
The setting was left on the lowest it could be last he turned the switch off, but James still doesn’t miss the way that Regulus flinches out of the corner of his eye when he clicks it back on again now, not expecting it after the extended reprieve. James glances away from where Sirius and Remus are chattering back and forth about wedding details to where Regulus sits between Barty and Dorcas.
He’s not even a little surprised to find a glare already fixed on him.
Feigning innocence, James pulls his lip between his teeth, bats his eyelashes. Presses the plus button three times in rapid succession. It’s too much too quickly when James knows that Regulus is already oversensitive, undoubtedly uncomfortably slick and swollen where he rubs his thighs together and shifts in his chair for some modicum of relief from the teasing his clit’s been subjected to since they sat down.
Another click of the plus button and Regulus’ hand comes down on the edge of the table harshly, rattling glasses and silverware, grip white-knuckled. Dorcas startles out of her conversation with Lily and Pandora across the table to look at him in concern but Regulus only waves her off with his free hand. Sirius’ head whips in his brother’s direction, dark brows pinching together when he catches the flush burning in Regulus’ cheeks, spilling over the edges of sharp jawline and down the sides of his neck.
“Alright, Reggie?” He calls.
“I’m fine,” Regulus hisses through his teeth. He catches his own strained tone and lets out a vaguely hysterical sounding laugh, making a rushed grab for the last of his mimosa in front of him. He downs the couple gulps in a hurry then breathes in deeply through his nose. “Another round?”
Sirius, bless him, thinks nothing of it, merely agrees and waves down their waitress —Regulus doesn’t drink in excess often, this could just be written off as a little too much too early in the day, weird as it may seem. No reason to suspect anything nefarious is going on anyway. Not like Regulus and James are running about advertising the things they get up to. Even though all of their friends know they’re together and have a bad habit of making that fact everyone else’s problem in some way or another.
Barty snorts beside Regulus, straight across the table from James, and catches his eye; doesn’t seem to miss a thing, Barty Crouch Jr., no matter how often he leads others to believe he does. He looks back at James with one brow arched upward, dark eyes dangerously knowing, lips quirked at the edges where he sips at a glass that’s straight champagne more than a mixed drink.
“Buzzing this morning, aren’t we, Reg?” Barty mutters, just loud enough for the two people it’s intended for.
James clicks the remote’s switch back to off instantly. Despite the soft whimper that escapes past Regulus’ clenched teeth, there’s still a positively murderous glower shot James’ way.
Oh, he is so fucked later. James can’t wait.

Request: Hi, I saw that your requests were still open so hope you don't mind me requesting something! Could you write where the reader is dating Sam Winchester and can't swim so during a hunt the thing that they're hunting with the brothers almost ends up drowning them but they get saved? :)

A/N: Anon! I'm sorry for the delay on this one. I hope you enjoy it! While writing this, you actually helped me come up with an entire other plot for a oneshot! Which is why this took longer than I intended…I really do hope you enjoy this though and thank you so so much for your request!
There were a lot of things throughout your life that you had learned that eventually were really helpful when you became a hunter. Like learning hand to hand combat because your dad was a police officer and was worried about stranger danger, or knowing how to shoot a gun and hit your target, only to name a couple. Then after you became a hunter you began to learn more and more things, especially when you met the Winchesters.
One thing, however, that you never learned to do, that honestly you never thought would really come up, at least in hunting was…well…swim. Which now, in your current predicament; you currently about to be thrown in a lake because you pissed off a demon and also Sam and Dean not being close enough to get to you in time and then not knowing you couldn't exactly swim… yeah okay, so you could see how knowing how to swim could be helpful.
Sam and Dean were fighting through the demons to get to you. They both knew they wouldn't get to you before you were in the lake but they had agreed that as long as they could distract the other demons looking enough for you to swim back to shore it would be fine. However, as soon as they knocked you into the lake Sam's stomach dropped as he saw you thrashing. You didn't know how to swim. How the hell did he not know that? You were his girlfriend. Dean immediately let out a, "Son of bitch!" When he also realized you couldn't swim. With just a look, Dean was doing double time as Sam ran towards the lake as he threw his shoes off, as well as jacket and dived right in.
Sam just wanted you to be okay. He couldn't imagine losing you and even if he did he'd bring you back. He would not lose you. Once he grabbed your body, which was sinking to the bottom, he quickly made his way up to shore. Dean had luckily been able to exorcize the last of the demons and was already on his way to you and Sam.
"Breathe, Y/N. I need you to breathe for me baby. Please, please, please." Sam pleaded in a whisper, as he moved your wet hair away from your face. He could feel a pulse, and right before he went to listen to your heartbeat you started to cough up water.
"Thank God." Both of the boys whispered, one louder than the other. Sam pulled you into his arms, as he kneeled next to you once you finished coughing up the water. "Don't you ever scare me like that again." Was whispered against your hair as Sam kissed the side of your hair, holding you close. You bit your lip as you looked up at him and then Dean. You hadn't meant to scare them like that. You could see the terror all over Sam's face, not to mention, the anger on Dean's, which knowing Dean for the past two years since you'd been with the boys, and the last year dating Sam Dean was scared too. "I'm sorry. I'm okay. I didn't mean to scare you guys…" Sam frowned as you spoke, avoiding their eyes. He gently lifted your chin.
"Hey, look at me. It's okay…just never scare us like that again." You gave a nod as Sam carried you back to the Impala. The ride back to the motel was quiet. You knew Dean was pissed. Sam, you could tell, was still rattled, as he just continued to peek back at you to check you were okay.
When you woke up the next morning with Dean standing in front of you with not only a bathing suit in hand, but also wearing his own
"Uh…?" You rubbed your eyes in confusion until Dean spoke.
"Rise and shine sweetheart. I'm teaching you how to swim." You raised an eyebrow about to ask where Sam was when he came in sporting his own swimsuit. He rolled his eyes at Dean.
"We, we, are teaching you how to swim." Then it was Dean's turn to roll his eyes.
"Dude, I was the one to teach you how to swim. Therefore, I'm the teacher. You're just her moral support." A smug smile was painted on Dean's face as Sam shot him his bitch face. You couldn't help but laugh at the two of them, as they continued to bicker like an old married couple, as Bobby would say, but just like Bobby, you wouldn't have it any other way.

Another mission was over and you couldn’t wait to get out of the tight clothes that were somehow important to the mission, you wouldn't mind if Natasha kept her dress on though, Jesus you were in love with her.
But she was your best friend, and you were so scared that if you voiced how you felt you would lose her.
You looked up and grinned as Natasha came to the booth you were sat in carrying a tray, “Saw they were doing fresh Sangria and I couldn't resist getting some” she explained sitting down.
Her blue eyes shone as the string fairy lights caught them, your breath left your body, just about everything you knew did too, including the hotel room number.
After multiple rounds you lent back Rubbing your eyes you laughed, “How can you even think about drinking? All I want is to crawl into bed”.
She looked at you, head resting on her shoulder smiling, “Finish the jug with me then you can sleep all you want” she winked.
You bit your lower lip, you weren't 100% sure you could trust yourself being drunk around her, the truth no matter how big always came to the surface when you were drunk.that’s how Clint came to know about your crush on Nat. But no matter what arrangement your brain came up with, your heart couldn’t say no to Natasha.
“Okay fine” you agreed, taking a glass, “But when I'm stumbling around you’re gonna have to help me to the room”.
She grinned and you swore she blushed a little. “ seems fair” you laughed rolling your eyes.

The one jug of sangria turned into three, feeling dazed you looked around the emptying bar. You snapping back into reality you realised Natasha was speaking. “Huh?” you asked looking at her,
She shook her head grinning. “You really can’t handle your booze”.
You exhaled putting your head down on the table, “my captain didn’t allow it” You stayed still enjoying the cold table, cooling your flushed cheek.
“You know” Natasha started, reaching out a hand and resting it on your head. You closed your eyes against her touch, savouring it. “You kind of remind me of sangria”.
“What?” you opened your eyes, making Natasha’s hand move to rest on your cheek.
She was still smiling when she continued, “you know sangria is just wine with fruit in it right?”. She waited for you to say something, when you nodded she carried on. “If it weren’t for you, I'd be incomplete, just bits of fruit sitting around”.
You were silent just looking at her. Natasha hadn’t moved but worried began to eat away at her face. She pulled her hand away holding it to her chest.
“Tasha” you exhaled her name. “Look at me”.
She did as you asked.
You take her hand and lean in. Natasha didn’t move until your lips met. Straight away she kissed you back. You sighed against her lips, taking everything about her in. The smell of her hair, how soft her hand was in yours and the way she tasted of sangria.
She pulled back lips swollen, using her free hand she held your face running her thumb around your lip, looking at her you kissed her thumb, tasting the wine from your lips. A coconut scent from her hair.
“We should take this to the room,” she suggested breathlessly. Head spinning.
The walk to the lift and the lift ride you could barely keep your hands off each other. If you weren’t touching her, feeling her against your skin you felt incomplete.
Your back hitting a door was when you knew you had reached the room. Nat didn’t pull away as she unlocked the door, kicking it shut. You marvelled just how skilled she was.
Without using words you both headed to the bathroom, again no words were needed she knew you’d lift her on top of the counter. Her legs pared giving you room to slip between them.
You looked to her shoulder looking at the freckles, her skin begging to be kissed. Against the white tile walls her hair shone.
Red like the sangria.
She worked on the buttons of your shirt, sliding her hands along your collar bones. She gingerly kissed your lips and muttered one word. “Shower”.
Neither of you were fully undressed. Your shirt still hung on you half unbuttoned, her skirt was pulled up around her waist, zip still up.
Lovingly she stopped and looked into your eyes, “you’re so beautiful”. And then you smiled, smiled like you never had before

Wild Animals Found In Tanzania
Did you know that Tanzania has the largest wild animal population density in the world? This means that there are more animals per square mile of land in Tanzania than anywhere else. How interesting is that!
According to Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), the country has 22 National Parks home to more than 430 mammalians, 6,000 insects, 1,112 birds, and 100 snakes species.
So, hop on to this exciting ride as we’ll be sharing some amazing facts of different animals that are found in the beautiful country of Tanzania.
Today we’ll have a look at the Tanzanian’s National Animal and that is none other than the majestic Giraffe. According to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF), there are four distinct species of giraffes and those are the Maasai giraffe (G. tippelskirchi), Northern giraffe (G. camelopardalis), Reticulated giraffe (G. reticulata) and Southern giraffe (G. giraffa). Tanzania is home to the largest population of Maasai giraffes in the world.
Facts About Giraffe
An average giraffe is 20 feet tall, making them the tallest land mammal on earth
Both male and female giraffes have ossified cartilage resembling horns on the top of their heads
They are social animals. They travel in groups of 10 to 12 known as tower
Both male and female giraffes can live to about 25 years in the wild and even longer in captivity. Their mortality rates vary from region to region depending on the density of their natural predators
Their biggest natural predators are lions who are responsible for the mortality of more than 50% of giraffe calves in their first year
They are herbivorous animals and due to their height they eat leaves and buds from trees and shrubs. They can consume approximately 35 kilograms of food a day
Their bodies are covered in spots (patches) which they use as camouflage from their predators
Giraffes’ gestation period is about 15 months. They can carry only one calf at each pregnancy, and they give birth to their calves while standing up
They can run as fast as 35 mph over short distances and about 10 mph over longer distances.

Eddie nearly sideswiped a station wagon as he whipped his head toward the passenger seat of his van, where the head cheerleader sat, hands clasped in her lap, seatbelt strapped diagonally across her chest (Oh, shit, he should probably buckle up, too, shouldn't he? Thank fuck he hadn't crashed the van) having responded to his explanation of where he'd been instead of the championship basketball game--which Sinclair had apparently won--with that mind-blowing statement of fact.
"Not even in a bad way?" he asked.
Chrissy's forehead puckered. "Why would anyone talk about a game in a bad way?"
Rattling his rings on the steering wheel, Eddie flashed a grin that could probably only be described as maniacal, as he considered all the information he could pour into her virgin brain during the fifteen-minute drive from Hawkins High to the trailer park.
"Buckle up, Buttercup--" (Oh, wait, she already was, and he still wasn't--he let go of the wheel with one hand to tug the seatbelt across his body) "--I’m gonna take you for a ride.”

Eddie held up his hands in a gesture of innocence as Wayne’s eyes darted from him to the mewing black kitten cradled in Chrissy’s arms, then back to Eddie again--even his own uncle wasn’t immune from assuming anything unexpected was Eddie’s doing (and usually, he was correct).
“We were,” Chrissy said, “but there was a family in the Taco Bell parking lot with a box in the back of their station wagon that said FREE KITTENS, and we just had to look, and then we we just had to be his cat parents.”
“The rest of the litter was snapped up this morning,” Eddie added, unable to resist scratching the little fuzzball under its chin, melting a little when it gave him the smallest squeak of a meow, “but no one wanted this little dude because apparently people are stupid enough to think black cats are harbingers of doom, can you believe it?”
For a moment, Wayne stared at them, then he gave his head a little shake and said, “Yeah, Ed, I can believe people really are that stupid. Did you two cat parents at least bring me some dang tacos?”

uuuuuguguhhhh i hit the biggest snag in my grey company fic yet, which i KNEW would be a big headache but not this big.
i love the lotr films and the books but i like the films a little more- there’s a lot more breathing room and things are slowed tf down. The books are almost non stop action and travel (except when they rest for a month or two lol), and then as soon as they leave lorien they literally never stop moving and it is SUCH a big pain in the ass. (more under the cut if anyone wants to hear the ramblings of a mad woman)
in the books, pippin looks into the palantir, finds out about MT. they all ride like fucking mad men, but gandalf takes pippin to MT, theoden and GC retreat to helms deep. aragorn looks into palantir at helms deep and sees the black ships, and realizes elronds words- they have 10 days before MT falls maybe. theoden leaves first, to arrive at edoras ---> dunharrow but takes the “mountain paths”. aragorn and co and GC leave at dawn. “and while theoden went by slow paths in the hills, the Grey Company passed swiftly over the plain, and on the next day in the afternoon they came to Edoras, and there they halted only briefly, ere they passed up the valley, and so came to Dunharrow as darkness fell.” (ROTK 765) everyone pretty much knows what theyre doing, and gets it done without waiting. aragorn gets to dunharrow first, goes through paths, theoden arrives like a day or two later or smth im too lazy to delve further.
in the films though the palantir scene is delayed until after the return to Edoras with everyone and they even get a party! yay! the GC deserve a good party! especially after the shit theyve just been through lol. so the morning after pippin gets fried by the palantir, gandalf has a little meeting to tell everyone what happened. also the whole bit with Theoden being like uhm...what do we owe gondor...bitch! idk if i’d keep cuz it’s just so ooc but i get why they have it for the films they need that conflict and delay. but anyways, gandalf tells aragorn about the ships, presumably from what pippin told him about what he saw in the palantir, rather than aragorn looking into it himself. or maybe the brief moment he touched it aragorn did see it but w/e. anyways. but he doesnt tell him about the paths, elrond does (elrond is 100% cut sorry lol)
so like everyone has to sit on their ass in edoras while waiting for the beacons after Gandalf gets there (which btw fucks up my timeline so severely i’m wondering if i shouldn’t even bother with my calendar anymore bc i want the film pace in the beginning, shit NEEDS to slow down and they need a fucking break!!!!!! the GC asses are sore!!). the issue is this-- Aragorn knows he must “follow the river and look for the black ships” but not how. They all stay in Edoras sitting and farting and they all go together to Dunharrow once the beacons are lit, rather than separately. And then Elrond comes (don’t even get me STARTED on this scene i love elrond but it makes NO SENSE!!) and tells him hey. use the ghosts. not the women that could probably fight if anyone gave them a chance lol. and THATS what spurs aragorn to go through. and then legolas spouts the prophecy of malbeth which excuse me, why does he know, mirkwood bumpkin.
so now I have this dilemma of information- it’s a matter of when its given, not the information itself. The Grey Company’s whole purpose is A. to aid Aragorn in the hour of his need, at his own (subconscious) behest, and B. bring the words of Elrond to him: Bid Aragorn remember the words of the seer, and the Paths of the Dead. Why would Aragorn and the GC pause at Edoras to party if they know to go that way? If they’re back at Edoras, they don’t know that MT is the next target because Pippin only looks then, not when they’re just outside the Fords of Isen. So are the words nonsensical until they learn from the palantir? I would say maybe they don’t know quite yet where the paths are, but Aragorn in the books definitely happens to know, and in the films he stumbles on it by going with Theoden. I dont think Aragorn could rest much if he knew the words of GC, he’d be mulling them over for a while and then just leave w/o Theoden like he does in the books to get there faster once he did know....maybe we can pretend the info was lost, or Aragorn doesnt mention it until they get to dunharrow to theoden...? who tf knows. its 2am though and my brain is mush and my desk is strewn with maps and timelines and the books so. perhaps a thought for tomorrow
