Spooky Season Watch List: Reptile | Grant Singer | 2023

Just watched the movie Reptile and not only I'm very grateful for whoever decided to put Alicia and Benicio as a couple again, but I loved how cute and loving this couple was. They banter, they cuddle, are affectionate and respectful with one another. We can see that's a loving marriage. They love and are in love with each other. She's not in the dark when it comes to his work, not only he tells her everything but asks for her help and she is indeed helpful, and provides insights that he hadn't had before. She's intelligent, funny, can take care of herself and take care of business. She's there for him and he trusts her completely. I LOVED this couple. And the chemistry was 10/10. It's a great match.

I haven't seen it yet, but Reptile on Netflix might fill the Prisoners void in my strange little heart.

Reptile (dir. Grant Singer).

Netflix's hard-boiled detective crime thriller starring and co-written by Benicio del Toro revolves around a slippery murder conspiracy featuring an Excess Baggage reunion with Alicia Silverstone, plenty of suspicious cops, and Justin Timberlake as a shady as hell real estate agent. Despite its obvious genre tropes about police corruption and bad people, del Toro's committed and grounded performance elevates the film's measured take on its criminal element.

So how about that movie huh? There'll be plenty of opportunity to process all of THAT later, but for now I think a couple of hours under the basking lamp is more than deserved.

Tmnt is one of my absolute favourite series, ever since I used to watch old re-runs of the renamed '87 version 'teenage mutant HERO turtles' since the uk decided 'ninja' was too violent. And out of every version, right next to 2018, 2003 was my JAM, their terrible civvies never failed to impress

I'd give my front teeth for a new 'Turtles forever' starring the all the new boys

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

...and into 2004. Although I always prioritised palaeo-projects, I was never going to pass on an opportunity to illustrate some DUNE covers, by Frank Herbert. This artwork was my cover illustration for THE GREAT DUNE TRILOGY (a large volume that included DUNE, DUNE MESSIAH, and CHILDREN OF DUNE). I also illustrated GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE, HERETICS OF DUNE, and CHAPTER HOUSE DUNE. The crazy thing was, the publisher accepted and published my colour draft drawings and paid me in full anyway!
