Relient K was done by a friend. I don't usually go for yellow stuff but she and I figured the design would match the laces on my docs. "Long Live the Rebels" is both a song and album by Disciple. Now I have merch to go see them in!
Lying on my side knowing of thirst is how I'll die
Chalk on my tongue
Lying on the night beneath the dunes
is where I lie to block the sun
Trying to ignite some sort of passion from inside
to overcome
This feeling of desertion can't be worse than never having anyone...
A lion on his side
was it the lying or his pride which brought him down?
Once the king of beasts
but now they feast on thoughts beneath his vacant crown...
So I'll ask one thing
Just one thing of you
Don't ever turn me loose
Even when I turn my back
-Sahara by Relient K
This one wandered away from the inspiration source and took on a life of its own, but I still think it tracks. I wanted to finish this in time for the new year but I'm a few days over. Consider this piece a celebration of new life born from the things that die, whether those things be literal or figurative.
relient k is such a weird band because like 2/3 of their songs are like. generic 2000s christian rock. and then the other 1/3 are like: i'm in love with fictional character nancy drew but she hates me. a star wars themed horse song. remember thundercats? because we sure do. marilyn manson ate my girlfriend. college sucks so bad. i am in high school.
emo/artsy kids who grew up in the church in the 2000’s and weren’t allowed to listen to to “worldly” music, which one of these bands did you listen to?
Currently listening to Veggietales songs on my speakers at work, because I'm a grown-up. I'd forgotten that Relient K did a version of the pirates who don't do anything.
