Castles Crumbling (featuring Hayley Williams)(From The Vault)
Upon doing research for this post I came across this amazing thread that basically laid out what I was going to say so credit to this person! I’m going to add some excerpts/background in between. The themes of fairytales and folklore have remained consistent throughout Taylor’s career. With bejeweled, Taylor harked back to the fairytale and gave it the ending she now sees for herself. She took the castle.

“The young girl happily walks through a fairy tale land but as she gets deeper into the fairy tale the atmosphere changes and it suddenly becomes dark and evil. Hayley Williams also appears as a guide to her there.” (x)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A brick is such a traditional, tired and plain boring representation of solidity. I wanted the whole song to have this sort of fairy tale vibe… only to twist the point I’m trying to make in the song which is, ‘Stop living in a fake fairytale… like, WAKE UP!’ When thinking how I could really get that across in the song I decided I’d use a house. Someone’s safe place, even in a fairy tale… you can’t forge a refuge out of magic & fairy dust. You gotta build it just as real and as solid as a stupid old brick.”
—Hayley Williams speaking about brick by boring brick

She may be taking back the castle (the empire) that she worked so hard to build, brick by boring brick, but she has the power to burn it all down too. Castles Crumbling as a metaphor… can’t wait to see where this leads.

Depression can cast a HUGE shadow over our lives, but miniatures and fairy gardens have the strength and power to illuminate even the darkest of depressive episodes. In my experience with ADHD, mood dysregulation, and manic and depressive cycles, the miniatures and fairy gardens have absolutely become my safe space, especially in such a scary and chaotic world (as well as our minds)! The act of building these miniature worlds becomes a source of hope and purpose. By designing and crafting scenes filled with beauty and joy, individuals can find solace and a renewed sense of enthusiasm. The imaginative escape offered by fairy gardens and miniatures allows us to temporarily step into a realm where positivity and magic prevail, offering a respite from the weight of depression. While nothing can replace the helpfulness that medications and therapeutic treatments available to us through modern science and psychology can have, fairy gardens have brought a new dimension and meaning to what it means for ME to find peace and joy in my life, even throughout the depressive episodes.

The process of carefully arranging elements and tending to the tiny inhabitants of these magical worlds can provide a sense of control and inner peace, promoting mindfulness and reducing anxiety.
The Dance of Creativity: Igniting Inspiration and Storytelling
Fairy gardens, miniatures, and dioramas are not just about arranging objects in a pleasing manner—they are gateways to boundless creativity and storytelling. As we construct these miniature realms, we tap into our inherent creative instincts. The process encourages us to think outside the box, experiment with new ideas, and explore different narratives. Whether it's imagining the lives of the miniature inhabitants or crafting intricate backstories, these creations become vessels for our unique tales and reflections, igniting a sense of purpose and inspiration.

Aragon Castle, Ischia Island, Italy 🏰🇮🇹
The Aragon Castle stands on a rocky islet connected to the trachytic eastern side of the island of Ischia through a stone bridge 220 meters long.
The rocky base is geologically defined as "a dome of stagnation" and is equivalent to a bubble of magna which solidified throughout eruptions of vast ranges. It is 113 m high under the sea level and stretches on 56.000 square meters.
It’s reachable by a mule track or a modern elevator built at the end of 1970s.
The mule track consists of a gallery dug into the rock (by Alfonso I of Aragon in the middle of the XV century) and Maschio.
From this main street, there are other ones more small to link builds and gardens of the fortress. The elevator is 60m under the sea level and its way is dug into the rock.
The build consists of lands and ruins; that one was the original form in the XVIII century, collapsed in the next century because of wars and long time of neglect. Only in the early twentieth began a systematic campaign of restoration still in progress, that has guaranteed an architectural style.
So evident in the representation of Castello Aragonese is the royal residence image, called Maschio (which can not be visited) and placed on the highest point to the the North East side and the cupola of the church of Immacolata, central counterpoint throughout the islet.
Important passage between the rocky ribs and the built up area is the fortification around the castle.
Tour to the East
The first fortress was built in 474 B.C. by the Greek Hieron I of Syracuse, come to Cumani aid during the war against Tyrrhenian. Other towers were raised up to monitor the movement of enemy ships. Ended the war, Hieron conquered the Island. It was later occupied by Parthenopeans. In 326 B.C. the Romans took it over and then again Parthenopeans. The looting and the long dominations of the Visigoths, Vandals, Goths, Arabs, Normans, Swabians, Angioini changed the Hieron’s fortress. In 1301 the last eruption of Epomeo destroyed the city of Geronda, the actual pinewood: people took refuge on the island. In 1441 Alfonso of Aragon re built the old Castle, linking the islet to the main island by a bridge artificial and built strong walls and fortifications, where everybody found refuge against the pirate invasions. In early XVIII century the islet hosted 1892 families, further the Convent of Poor Clares, the abbey of Brazilian from Greece, the bishop with Capitolo and Seminario, the Prince for healing. There were 13 churches, whose 7 parishes. In 1750, stopped the pirate’s danger, people searched a more easy refuge in the municipalities of the island. In 1809 the British besieged the fortress and drove out the French and shelled it up to almost completely destroy it. In 1823 the king of Naples fought off the last 30 inhabitants and turned the Castle into a place of punishment. Later, it become a house arrest.
Tour to the West
The Castello Aragonese stands on an islet of trachytic rock linked to the East side of the island of Ischia by a bridge of 220m long. The elevator reaches 60 instead mt. above the sea level and the route is entirely built inside the rock. The establishment covers a small part of the total area occupied by mostly ruins and cultivated land; that was the characteristic morphology densely built pick up from the eighteenth century iconography, largely erased by the war of the early nineteenth century, which was followed by long years of neglect. Only the early twentieth century began a systematic campaign of restoration still in progress, which has returned and continues to give back dignity to this impressive architectural monument. Indisputable shapes are dominant in the background of the castle of the royal residence, called Maschio (which can not be visited), and placed on the highest point of the north east of the dome of the Church of the Immaculate, counterpoint throughout the central island. Effective mediation between the rocky ridges and the part built, is the ramparts that wraps around the castle for 3/4 of its perimeter characterizing strongly the place around.
Notice: The Aragonese Castle of Ischia will be closed to the public from the 7th to the 31st January 2020 for works of maintenance. The visit will resume regularly from the 1st February 2020 with the usual times.

Happy new year ✨️ Have you read Death Comes to Pemberley? Is it worth the read?
I do own it, and read the first few chapters, but didn't like the characterizations. I still want to give it a chance though, I heard the mini-series was good, so maybe I'll try again this year!
If someone else has a review ready, please share :)
