Would you consider TMA magical realism? Because I kind of would at first but the last season is very different.
I definitely would consider it magical realism, because at its core it is still set in a world much like the real world, with magical elements. The question of season 5 is a complex one, but my question is; are they still in the same world?
Magical realism needs to be set in a predominantly realistic world. Stories with trolls, fairies, or other mystical species are not magical realism because the world itself is not realistic. So do the avatars becoming a predominant "species" make the world unrealistic? And does doing so put them in an entirely new world, despite physically being in the same place.
Personally, I would call the series on a whole magical realism. I would, however, argue that season 5 is no longer magical realism because the setting has changed to a non-realistic world.

Just a bit of realism for you: at certain times of the year, Hobbiton would absolutely reek of poo when they were fertilizing the fields. Like, a smell so thick it would inundate everything. A poo smell.

A Fool's Endeavor is now $2.99!
After much deliberation, I have decided that it is time to give A Fool's Endeavor a much needed price cut. Now you can get the book for only $2.99! (Which is the cheapest Amazon will allow me to set.)
So, if you've been holding back on the book, now might be your time to snatch it up!

So I bought two perfume samples recently from the company Wolf Brothers because I wanted something that was a bit of a novelty and imagined the scents to be earthy and more like a mountain breeze or a cabin the woods.
Yeah no they smell like the animals they are named after so now i have two colognes that smell like goat fur and deer piss and this is the funniest thing I've ever done.
If anyone wants disturbingly accurate scents for ttrpg campaigns to set the mood of a farm or living in the woods I highly recommend them. They'd also be what the sexy sweaty men in fantasy books smell like.

I MEAN but wouldn't that be an incredible isekai series??
a modern princess whose job is basically just being a beautiful figurehead
grows bored with her vapid role in life and withdraws from society, riddled with ennui
only to fall into a fantasy realm where princesses have real political power
as well as important responsibilities that her subjects depend upon
and at first it's a comedy of errors as she realizes that none of her training prepared her for this
but then she grows as a person and applies herself to learning how to guide and guard this kingdom
and becomes the powerful and just princess she was always meant to be
...so I guess apparently my new favorite conspiracy theory is that kate's shoujo manga just underwent a MASSIVE genre switch.

3D animation of my character, the Vaeraf named Laschnir (Lash).
Made in Blender.
This is my second animation of a trotting Vaeraf (I made the previous one last year), and this time I used a significantly updated (almost completely re-made) version of the Vaeraf model. I also updated some details including the fur and rig, but so far only for Lash. I plan to redo the entirely model again… someday. But for now I'm just experimenting and having fun!
I tried to make the new animation more dynamic by giving more movement to the body and legs. I was genuinely surprised at how slow and "lazy" the previous animation was! I think I was just afraid to give the animation more movement, because I have little experience in animation. Now, after a few tries on different creatures, I'm animating the trot more dynamically and boldly. I also added some snow particles and more dynamic camera movement ~
I also really wanted to animate the fur on his tail, but the hair dynamics in blender don't work well with that much hair. Perhaps in the future I will look for ways to do this. Overall, I'm very happy with this animation! :)
[Vaerafes are my personal fantasy creature species]

So annoying when people try to hold alternate-world fantasy to "historical accuracy" standards like. if I wanted historical accuracy I simply would have read/written historical fiction.
The only thing that should matter is if the alt world feels internally consistent/believable. Not "oh but back then" THERE IS NO BACK THEN. IT'S NOT REAL
and just because some aspects of the world (fashion, systems of government, levels of technology) feel consistent with a particular time period in our history doesn't mean that the author is obligated to stick to all other characteristics of that time period. The POINT of alt-world fantasy is to create a world in which the story they want to tell can work, and that's the metric I'm holding things to
