Rating Seal Emojis

Somewhat of a tired format but i still enjoy it so i decided to do one myself?

These sweet thangs don't have much history, as the seal emoji was only added in 2021, but there's still enough to go around so let's go.

Apple iOS

Looks to be evocative of a really grey baby seal. It's quite sweet but i dont like that it has shoulders. 7/10

Google Android

Actually biased, but this is easily one of the cutest. I can excuse the undefined flippers. 10/10

Samsung 2.5

Like trying to redraw the Google emoji from memory. The features seem weirdly disconnected from each other. 5/10

Samsung 6.0

They went back, and decided it needed to be cuter, which they overdid, but who's to say it didn't work? 100% baby thing. Hind flippers are way small though 7/10

Windows 11 2021

Feels more evocative of a baby harp seal than the other ones. The tail makes what i can only describe as a "Seal Bident" and the front flippers are closest to the sleeves of a wavy blouse, but above all, it's JOYFUL and y'know what, i love the energy 9/10

Windows 11 November Update

...and then this came in. There's nothing wrong with this one per se but just compare the previous one! They took its joy and made it some kind of undefined mystery species. 5/10

Microsoft 3D Fluent

It's just the last one, but in 3D. Purple is a pretty novel color to shade a seal with but it doesn't add much, and the definition 3Dness gives it makes it feel weirder. 5/10

"A seal is just like if you put a dog head on a fish, right?" I can't find a single species of phocid that has this coloration making me think they found an Australian sea lion and went "good enough". Ironically, this one also has the most accurate pose and flipper detail, so it's kind of a net zero. 7/10

Twitter

Sea lion! The tail is a hand and while usually that could be fun and interesting this emoji is going for accuracy and it just makes that fall apart a little bit. 8/10

Facebook

Standing tall and proud! This emoji, while recognizing how the hind flippers are placed, seems to forget the tail resulting in Smooth Barbie Crotch for seals. Front flippers bend real weird too. 8/10

Nighthawk

Went through the entire spectrum of human emotion while making this.

Alike, though they may be, Nighthawks separate themselves from Werewolves in a number of ways, primarily in how they re created. A Werewolf may cause another to become a werewolf via bite, blood, or any sharing of body fluids. However, a Nighthawk can only become as such when cursed. Visually, they look the same- or at least very similar- as Nighthawks bear a closer resemblance to wolves than Werewolves do, the latter of which manage to keep a more humanoid appearance. It has been noted that Werewolves have more control over their changed forms than Nighthawks, but both require a constant feeding of raw meat or blood to stay healthy in both changed and unchanged forms.

My headcanons about the Dragos from Mother 3

(This is a repost from my old Tumblr account.)

Drago eggs are green with yellow horizontal stripes.

Dragos love chin rubs, belly rubs, and being tickled.

When a Drago is happy, their ears will twitch in a cute way.

Dragos age very slowly, and have great memory retention.

The Dragos are buddies with the Save Frogs.

Dragos eat grass, like cows. They have nine stomachs.

Dragos are VERY loud snorers. It's a common sight to see them sleeping with their mouths willingly held closed, so they don't annoy the other wildlife. Don't worry, they can breathe through their nostrils 100% fine.

Mama and papa Dragos often carry all their babies around on their backs… in a vertical stack. Thankfully, Dragos have sticky feet, so they can hang on just fine. And the Drago babies frequently get into arguments about whose turn it is to be on top of the stack.

Dragos are warm-blooded rather than cold-blooded, but love sunning themselves anyway, and often fall asleep while doing so.

Despite being mostly nocturnal, Dragos ignore their sleep cycle when humans visit them in the daytime, because Dragos think humans (especially human kids) are super adorable.

The headcanons below contain SPOILERS!

The Dragos are descended from herbivorous dinosaurs, since the Dark Dragon's power protected the Nowhere Islands from whatever event(s) killed all the other dinosaurs.

Lucas helped the surviving Dragos hide from the Pigmasks during the three-year timeskip. After the Earth is finally restored, he visits them frequently.

Hinawa stays good friends with the former Mecha-Drago in the afterlife, and reassures him that she doesn't blame him for killing her while brainwashed.

Ionia and Aeolia are buddies with the Dragos, since they both live relatively close to Drago Plateau. Alec's love for Dragos is one of the main reasons he became friends with the Magi.

Now, I have the dilemma of being both a scrawny Heart and a chubby Heart fan.

My taste in men is scrawny, short and meek, don't get me wrong; and my only taste for chubbier people is very specific, so naturally making my second-favourite character of all time be the latter option seems rather unlikely, but believe it or not I'm capable of liking a character even if they're not my type! Just because I love pathetic twinks doesn't mean rounder characters aren't cool and deserving of love too. :)

However, strangely I just love chubby Heart. I love it when depressed characters are overweight because it adds a special layer of realism; depression can cause overeating, depression can cause a lack of exercise, antidepressants can cause someone to gain weight, someone can become depressed because of insecurities about their weight, etc.

I think we need more characters that are chubby for reasons besides loving food, because there's a lot of complex reasoning behind it! Plus, representation for bigger people is wonderful. But while I could rant about this for hours, that's not what I'm here to talk about!

I made a compromise for my Heart with my love for both headcanons. However, it's not in a way that would be traditionally realistic for humans, it's written with fictional evolution in-mind!

Ids, Heart and Mind (and kind of Soul)'s species in my little canon-divergent AU I share with Grimm Grimm, are strange animals meant to survive in mild conditions, namely forests.

They are not meant to survive the cold; in-fact, bundling up with several layers of clothing won't keep them warm enough, like how a human would.

Instead, they have two solutions that work in coordination: By eating a lot, ids can release a significant amount of that energy as heat, whilst also putting on a lot of weight to help insulate their bodies.

Ids do not have fur (in-fact, they somehow have less than a human does), nor do they know how to start fires in the wild, with their IQ-of-a-five-year-old in their natural habitat. So, they get plumper and spent the coldest hours of the day in a den, snuggling up to one another to preserve and share as much warmth as possible, and rest through much of the colder temperatures, before going out to hunt and forage for plant-based food to help maintain the weight and heat they need.

Heart and Mind are the rare case of civilised ids; ids raised by a human. This means that they don't technically need to do this, as a nicely-heated home can do the trick, but they still have the instinct to get chubbier to help warm, especially with the outside temperatures posing a threat, and the imminent risk of hypothermia even in good conditions.

Heart is not at all bothered by having a heavier size during the colder months, even having a bit of fondness of it due to sating his body's needs. With this compromise, half the year Heart is scrawny, and half the year he's a decent bit chubby– for a reason I think is pretty cool! He's an animal going by animal instincts.

I apologise if this is bad somehow! I have no intentions to hurt anyone's feelings. I just simply like the idea of Heart and Mind getting bigger in the winter months because, well, they're animals, and it's their way of keeping warm. I've always been a massive zoology nerd, so I thought it'd be pretty cool. :)

P1: The planet Yiphra and its moons. This is at a scale measurable in thousands of kilometers, commonly the "planetary scale".

P2: The Hevvro System, including the central sun and its four major planets. This scale is measurable in millions of kilometers, commonly the "solar scale".

P3: The "local clump" of stars, including Hevvro itself. This scale is measurable in light years, commonly the "interstellar scale". Distances and measurements do not change on a timescale that matters, but the added third dimension (compared to an ecliptic of a solar system) makes mapping somewhat more interesting.

P4: The local galactic arm, the Khapatt Arm. This scale is measurable in hundreds to thousands of light years, commonly the "lesser galactic scale". Individual bodies are hard to discern on such a scale, and galactic physics may be unpredictable due to unforeseen events.

P5: The Miirtetz Galaxy, including its innermost satellite, Nuunt. Measurable on the scale of tens to hundreds of thousands of light years, or the "galactic scale", it is nigh-impossible to chart a galaxy accurately.

P6: The Maathurtas Cluster, including Miirtetz and Salvared, plus multiple other small galaxies. Measurable in millions of light years (the "intergalactic scale"), positions are easier to chart between galaxies than within them.

P7: The local universe, including the Ashabas Convergence and its tendrils. Measured in billions of light years (the "supergalactic scale"), and impossible to predict.

P8: The "greater" local universe, measured in trillions of light years (the "universal scale"). Stelliferous superregions indicate "young"/"refreshed" areas, while "degenerate" areas are ridden with iron stars and black dwarves, awaiting a rebirth. Early stelliferous superregions have very recently (on a cosmic scale) been "born" or refreshed with matter.

ÄYLCEPHOMUS CELESTIAL HIERARCHY

SERAPH (plural noun: SERAPHIM): They’re celestial humanoids with six fiery wings, one pair for flying, another covering the face and the final pair covering the feet, crotch or torso. They are the natural caretakers of their creator’s divine throne and bearers of sacred knowledge. They also help to maintain the equilibrium of the universe and carry out purification rituals by touching the lips with burning coal from an altar. They’re the highest in the celestial hierarchy, which means they’re the closest to divinity and the firmament of heaven. They’re most commonly seen in the Primum Mobile of The Angels and Empyrean.

CHERUB (plural noun: CHERUBIM): They have two large pairs of wings that appear to be like polished bronze and are said to create thunder by flapping them. They also have four faces; that of a human (front), eagle (right), lion (left), and ox or cow (back). They are the irresistible guardians of the heavenly garden and the pearly gates to their realm. They’re most commonly seen at the gates of heaven, the sacred garden, Primum Mobile of The Angels, and Empyrean.

OPHANIM, GALGALIM or THRONE (plural noun: THRONEs): When in their true form, they appear to be four interlocking, eye-covered wheels that surround either a celestial youth or fetus. They’re responsible for carrying out divine justice and maintaining cosmic harmony of all universal laws. They are also responsible for protecting the holy chariot and its mercy seat. They’re most commonly seen in the sacred garden, Saturn of The Contemplatives, Primum Mobile of The Angels, and Empyrean.

CHALKYDRI: They’re a unique angel breed because their appearance is far more animalistic compared to the others. When in their natural form, they have the head of a crocodile with a lion’s tail and twelve purplish-red wings. They are responsible for running the Sun’s course around the Earth, bringing the planet heat and dew. They are also responsible for alerting the birds of the multiverse for a new day to rejoice by breaking into song at sunrise. They’re most commonly seen in the Sun of The Wise, Primum Mobile of The Angels, and Empyrean.

DESTROYING ANGEL or DESTROYER (plural noun: DESTROYING ANGELs or DESTROYERs): They are very important angels of divine punishment and destruction as well as psychopomps for the recently deceased. They’re only allowed to exercise their punishment and torment on wicked sinners and infernal beings if the divine council has proclaimed the sentence. They either have two, six or twelve wings that mimic the colours of scavenger birds such as vultures and magpies. They’re most commonly seen in the sacred garden, Moon of The Inconstant, and Primum Mobile of The Angels.

WATCHER (plural noun: WATCHERs): Originally, they were dispatched by the divine council and even the titans to watch over the humans. Unfortunately, after procreating with humanity and bringing the Nephilim into the multiverse, most were kicked out of heaven. For those who weren’t abandoned or didn’t participate in this incident, they were forced to become celestial warriors that protected heaven from the attacks of infernal beings or shepherds that attend to their livestock. They have six wings of a gleaming alabaster dove and are commonly seen in the Moon of The Inconstant, Sun of The Wise, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.

DOMINATION, DOMINION or LORDSHIP (plural noun: DOMINATIONs, DOMINIONs or LORDSHIPs): They govern the movement of stars, planets, and other celestial objects whilst performing a few other important duties. These duties include delivering divine judgement, showing mercy towards sinners, and helping angels in lower ranks to stay organised and perform their work well. They have four wings that either resemble a male cerulean warbler, golden eagle, or bearded vulture. They’re most commonly seen in the Sun of The Wise, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.

VIRTUE (plural noun: VIRTUEs): They are known for controlling the elements that are present within the multiverse. They’re angels of motion who govern nature and assist with miracles, encouraging humans to strengthen their faith in the titans. Unlike most angels, their two or six wings don’t resemble that of existing birds as they possess up to five different hues that are not always or never found in nature. They’re most commonly seen in Mercury of The ambitious, Venus of The Lovers, Sun of The Wise, and Fixed Stars of Faith, Hope and Love.

POWER or AUTHORITY (plural noun: POWERs or AUTHORITIES): They have authoritative power over all forces of evil, restraining them from doing harm. They have four wings and their natural hues are either similar to the ferruginous hawk or Egyptian vulture. They’re most commonly seen in the Moon of The Inconstant, Mercury of The Ambitious, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.

PRINCIPALITY, PRINCEDOM or RULER (plural noun: PRINCIPALITIES, PRINCEDOMs or RULERs): They are given the responsibility to guide and protect nations or groups of peoples, ensuring that everything runs smoothly. They also preside over the bands of angelic subspecies and charge them with fulfilling their divine ministry. They have four wings that possess the colours of a crowned eagle, king quail, and black-billed magpie. They’re most commonly in Mars of The Faith-Warriors, and Jupiter of The Just Rulers.

ARCHANGEL or CHIEF ANGEL (plural noun: ARCHANGELs or CHIEF ANGELs): They have various duties such as delivering far-reaching messages to entire peoples or communities, creation and facilitation of soul contracts, managing life on Earth, maintaining natural order, and preserving ancient mysteries. As their name suggests, they act as natural leaders for the other bands of angels. They have two wings that mimic the colours of a blue jay or resemble shimmering and untainted gold with a brownish undercoat. They’re commonly seen throughout the spheres of heaven, but most inhabit Mercury of The Ambitious, Mars of The Faith-Warriors, Jupiter of The Just Rulers, Fixed Stars of Faith, Hope and Love, and the Primum Mobile of The Angels.

It’s believed that if they blow their trumpets while standing on a holy rock, they are announcing the fateful day of judgement. They all have two wings that mimic the natural hues of the purple starling, lilac-breasted roller, and the train of a male Indian peafowl. They’re commonly seen throughout the spheres of heaven, but most inhabit Venus of The Lovers, the Primum Mobile of The Angels and the Fixed Stars of Faith, Hope and Love.

EARTHLY ANGEL (plural noun: EARTHLY ANGELs): They are entrusted with the affairs of the world and keeping records on the actions of people. They’re lowest in the celestial hierarchy, which means they’re the closest to the earth and humanity. Male-bodied messenger angels have the wings of a male loon and the plumage of the female-bodied resembles that of a house sparrow. Similar to choir angels and archangels, they are commonly seen throughout the spheres of heaven, but most inhabit the Moon of The Inconstant and Mercury of The Ambitious.

Insectoids remain in a valley Shummur. Vibrant place with strange plants and soil. They hail from some other world and change color and texture of their carapace.

Reptilic molemen are an intelligent species that evolved on this Earth long ago. It is difficult to say wether their ancestors were reptiles or mammals or something else entirely.

Tubular spawn are a mystery to all. They dwell in moist darkness, reproducing via spores.

A bit about Arik fur colours and genetics

By default, Ariks have 6 "base" patterns + melanistic and albino variants. They're all seen above. Shades of the fur colours may vary slightly, but only in terms of being brighter, darker, high-contrast or dull. But all of the base patterns will still remain somewhat the same colour. For example, all Colourpoints will be a shade of gray and all Midnight Blues will have varying shades of dark blues.

The only exception is the Tiger Striped Akita pattern, which has also appeared as gray and almost blue before being mixed with other patterns via breeding. These natural gray and blue variants are incredibly rare, but they could explain why Midnight Blue exists.

Midnight blue is quite the interesting pattern. Some Ariks call it "The Mutt" despite it being a base pattern. (A mutt pattern would be anything that has a mixed pool of genes from two patterns, for example Deer and Colourpoint.) Midnight Blue is called a mutt pattern because it looks "ugly" and irregular. All base patterns have a strict rule about how many types of dots and coloured spots will go where. However, Midnight Blue randomises those. It is only considered a base pattern due to it's unusual shade of blue.

Mutt or base, an Arik fur pattern is always divided into different "sections" based on what colour goes where on the body. This is important when looking at how their fur genetics pass on to offspring.

Primary Colour — The base colour of the fur. This colour would cover the Arik entirely if you were to remove all patterns from it. The most dominant colour gene.

Secondary Colour — Most commonly a pattern, such as stripes, dots or splotches.

Tertiary Colour — Most commonly the colour of the stomach and/or cheeks.

Quartary Colour — Very rarely appears, most commonly the colour of the Arik's antennae, as seen on the Banana Split pattern. The most fragile colour gene, can easily "get lost" and won't inherit to the offspring or can be formed when the parents' colours mix.

Ariks usually get one single Arikit at a time. When two Ariks breed, their offspring will gain its fur colour and patterns depending on what the parents look like.

Most commonly the fur colour either switches patterns (As seen above, a Colourpoint pattern with Banana Split colours) or the parents' colours and patterns mix together, creating new mutt patterns. Colours may also mix together to create new shades.

Very rarely the Arikit turns out to be a perfect replica of one of their parents. However, this requires said parent to have a pure base pattern and to be the same sex as the Arikit.

Trojan horses, a concept/species I made specifically for my AVA AU which I made ninety-nine percent for worldbuilding and Victim + Purple

Trojan horses are predatory, vaguely horse-like creatures with reptilian qualities.

While not malicious in nature they are highly dangerous as they view sticks as prey, and thus will attempt to lure them.

Trojan horses typically stand at around 2.3m (7'7") and weight around as much as a mildly large car. They are covered in a smooth skin with rigid plating on vulnerable areas (belly, joints, maw, skull, etc.) and are typically orange to red in hue.

They do not have eyes and rely on smell and hearing to scout their food; most things in the digital world don't really have good eyesight anyway.

Their horns are often used to determine a mate, and they do not stay with those that they form offspring with, and will abandon their young once they have generated.

Most notably, trojan horses have four special plates on the back of their upper hind legs; these are used to connect themselves to the buildings they create by splitting off their code.

"Passive" trojan horses, once they have not found a proper den to create, will be absolutely massive; well over nineteen metres and will appear vaguely serpent-like, before shedding their code to create a building in which they will spread around fliers, posters, etc. just advertisements in-general in order to get sticks (or even just animals in-general) to come to their den, where they will be consumed.

The wires keep them from going too far from the building as they will not be able to find their way back if they leave it, as they cannot see.

There is a domesticated variant called giffyups which were created via a domesticated cursor converting them into gif files. They are common transportation and livestock in rural regions, and have roughly the emotional and intellectual capacity of a bearded dragon; they can display affection and respond to their name, but don't appear to feel genuine love and only seem to experience very basic emotions.
