I think the most frustrating thing is that even when you do e v e r y t h i n g right, you can still fail. My collection of horror stories, Nightmare Fuel, comes out in 2 weeks. My next novel, A Call of the Sidhe, comes out on November 18th. I've shared, I've posted about it EVERYWHERE, I've actually paid for ads, and yet, I'm still still stuck at 3 and 1 preordered copies, respectively.

And I'm pretty confident that it's not because they're bad, they're just not reaching the right people. Nightmare Fuel is a collection of horror stories featuring predominately queer, poc, and qpoc characters, while A Call of the Sidhe is a queer fantasy/romance about the Fae. A rainbow sea of books 😍 Welcome to @strandbookstore , NYC! Toting an astounding 18 miles of books, it's needless to say that we spent a lot of time here. Three floors of new, used, and rare books, alongside an entire section of novels in multiple languages on the bottom floor. It's so refreshing to see more than the usual English/French/Spanish selection that so many other stores offer! After buying wayyyy too many books (but really, is there any such thing as too many?), I got to flip through a set of Emily Dickinson's manuscript pages that were actual photocopies of her bound leaflets, as opposed to retyped versions found in so many collections of her work. Do you have any reading goals for 2021? 📚 I never set a numeric reading goal for myself, but I do always have some kind of intentions in mind. I plan to continue last year's goal of accepting/requesting fewer review books (& being more thoughtful in the ones I do accept/request). Last year, I was also a lot better about buying books & continuing that into this year, my biggest goal is to read more from my existing stash of unread books. . . I purged some of my TBR books a few months ago, so I feel like my shelves are at a reasonable place.
